genuinely cannot express how happy i am with the state of grian in session 7. starting the episode talking to mumbo and skizz's graves like they're still there (going mad with grief), saying he concocted a whole scheme just to bring them back because he loves them (gay and abusing his powers about it, a 2 for 1), getting killed by mumbo and being INCREDIBLY hurt by it (punished by the universe for loving someone, as usual), immediately becoming an angry bitter red (best flavor of grian), chasing mumbo down to kill him and shouting that he's a traitor and then saying "why did you take mumbo away from me!?" sounding like hes going to cry when he disappears (he's grieving Badly; also points for love and murder getting mixed up, this always seems to happen with these two)

i wanted the spanners' death to drive him kind of insane with grief and this is better than anything i could've asked for. and this isn't even mentioning him being sooooo mad about people not killing each other (watcher behavior). he's gone full deranged widow mode and it's awesome

i loveeee it when grian loves someone and the universe punishes him for it ^_^

being with scar in 3rd life and trying to distance himself after the cactus ring, only for the universe to force them together as soulmates in double life.

becoming secret soulmates with big b, only to accidentally kill him.

bringing mumbo and skizz BACK FROM THE DEAD out of love, only for mumbo to be forced to kill him.

like whatever you wanna call it, every time he loves someone he's punished for it in some way and i just find that very um. well i feel really normal about it

i can be normal about the fact that the first season where grian's been very transparent about him being a watcher is the same season where he explicitly gets really angry that everyone is just having fun and not killing each other. he really has stopped fighting it, hasn't he?

so let's see here, this is just my interpretations of everyone's powers off the top of my head. there's some i don't really know (if they're rlly obvious i apologize, i probably just havent watched that person's povs that much)

grian: can copy people's powers. he's the only person without a power of his own, which he specifically says is because he's the only one who knows what all the powers are due to his admin (watcher) status.

scar: can launch people and ride any mob. he had been wanting the wildcard to be launching people the entire season, and he has a love of animals (edit: forgot to mention, he also has thorns!)

etho: can launch himself into the air using a mace without taking fall damage. idk (edit: saw some ppl say it could be a reference to something in mcc?)

bigb: can summon creakings. he's turned himself into a creaking this season

jimmy: can turn invisible. he's usually out of the series by now, so you usually don't see him at this point

bdubs: can slow down time and sleep to make it day. obvious connection with time and clocks

gem: can astral project/communicate with the dead. connection to her name, GEMINI tay? astrology and all that

impulse: can teleport, including swapping places with other players. idk. something something him replacing martyn in the divorce quartet this season?? idk lol

martyn: can listen in on conversations from a distance. obvious connections to the listeners and his lore with them

lizzie: can inflict temporary blindness and disappear into the shadows. ld SHADOW lady

ren: can copy other player's dna and turn into them. idk (edit: he's the chronic roleplayer, ofc he's the one who gets to "act" as other characters...)

scott: can copy mobs and turn into them. idk

joel: can triple jump without fall damage. idkkk (edit: joel has a thing with falling in the life series!)

tango: super speed. the speed itself i cant think of anything BUT water slows him down so he calls it his one weakness, which could connect to him being a fire creature/blaze hybrid/whatever (edit: might be dungeon master related? with the frost walking)

cleo: can raise the dead to be her zombie minions. she's literally a zombie lmao

pearl: can launch into the air and fly. idk (edit: hermitcraft reference, messenger hermes flying cap and all that)

and then of course mumbo and skizz are just zombies lol. i'm sure people have made their own versions of this post analyzing everyone's powers but this is just what i've been thinking while watching, before i look at everyone else's posts ^_^

as weirdly cute as desertduo have been recently, im still waiting for a dramatic shift considering that grian is still set on killing jimmy (he said as much this session). i feel like inevitably scar is going to have to choose between grian and the bamboozlers, and i would assume (and hope) that he'll choose the bamboozlers. i just feel like this can't last.

maybe i'll be pleasantly surprised, but for now i'm reserving any comments about the status of their relationship until the season is said and done. if i could sum up my thoughts rn in one word though, it would be "tumultuous."

the most vital thing about life series grian that you MUST keep in mind when writing him is that that bitch has never self-reflected a day in his life and has no idea why he feels anything that he feels. and he WILL make it everyone else's problem
