It’s strange being a straight cis evil person. Like, I’m fine with LGBT+ folks, but for me, I’m just happy being the gender I was born. I kinda wonder if people just need to hear, “you’re a (gender) and that’s okay and normal” more than “Just change your gender if it doesn’t feel exactly right.”?

Like, is it okay to tell people they are great the way they are, and don’t need to change themselves? They can if they want to, of course, but I feel like anyone under 13 needs to wait a few years.

As a queer evil person I can understand where your coming from to some extent. In my opinion you shouldn't interject your thoughts into something as personal as someone's gender, queer or cis het. If someone is confused in regards to what their gender may be, ask them questions instead of giving statements. "Well how do you feel about yourself?" "What makes you feel comfortable?" Gender is a social construct, a very odd social construct, and it should be approached with an open mind. You may find that while you identify with your agab you feel more comfortable using different pronouns. Or while you may be trans you might like using your agab's pronouns. Gender, pronouns, and sex don't always align and that's okay. At the end of the day it's all just words one can associate themself with for comfort. What's a little vocabulary adjustment if it makes people happy? Then, when it comes to transitioning, it's already difficult enough in the U.S. to transition. You have to be above a certain age, get a gender dysphoria diagnosis, if your still a minor you need parental permission, have the money or insurance that covers it, etc. etc. Even after all that you still may be unable to because of the state your in. You may also be put at a lot of risk for violent crimes even if your not transitioning. I can understand the 13+ thing but at the same time there are kids out there with crippling gender dysphoria. There was this one trans girl that when she was younger she used to bite holes into the crotch area of her pants because she just couldn't stand being her agab. I don't think transitioning should be gatekeeped. I just think queer culture should be normalized. If it were viewed as normal and kids had time to think about who they were without feeling rushed against the clock then it wouldn't be a problem. If it were viewed just as normal as being cis then I doubt people would be rushing to transition because if they did it later on in life no one would care and people would respect them. A lot of times trans people want to transition early on to avoid prejudice and dysphoria. (Not all trans people have dysphoria though) So take prejudice out of the mix and all your focusing on is those with dysphoria wanting to feel comfortable in their skin. And ultimately it's great to tell people they're perfect the way they are but people are much more than their bodies. You should encourage comfort in one's skin and having peace of mind not just comfort in one's agab. Some people are just incapable of finding comfort in their agab. Some people need help feeling like they're allowed to be their agab. Which is why you shouldn't interject your thoughts but ask for theirs. In the end it's their mind, their body, their choices and their feelings. If you want to help them understand those just ask them about how they feel or perceive themself. That's pretty much the best thing you can do.

tldr: Gender is social construct and society should normalize more genders than male or female because there's already more sexes than the two. (Intersex people exist ya'll😭😭) The way one expresses themself is very personal to them and thus you shouldn't put your input in but ask how they feel. You are not your body. Gender, pronouns and sex don't always align.

As of today I've officially read every post in the transandrophobia tag for an entire year--in addition to running a discord server on the topic for six months--so I feel I have some amount of insight into the term and the little community we seem to have been building around it.

I've seen people stumbling into the discussion and having their mental health immediately wrecked, so I want to share a few quick and basic reminders/lessons I needed to hear a year ago.

You're not a transmisogynist for using the word transandrophobia. You're not an MRA or a TERF either and it's messed up to call you those things. I used to question myself constantly about these things, but I've also now spent hours looking at what real MRAs and TERFs believe and it is nowhere near my beliefs.

You're allowed to take up space. In physical spaces of course--your presence isn't a threat just because you're a man/masc--but also in discussions of feminism and transphobia. It isn't talking over women to share your experiences as a trans person. You experience gendered oppression and it's okay to talk about it.

People lie about us constantly. I'm always hearing things like we think trans women oppress us or so and so in the discussion said something transmisogynistic; do not take these claims at face value, look into them yourself or ask someone who has done so.

Stereotyping us is bigotry plain and simple. That includes considering us more aggressive, annoying, self-centered, toxic, attention-seeking, and misogynistic compared to other groups.

Sexism can very much target men and mascs. If you've been defining transandrophobia as solely an intersection of transphobia and misogyny, I implore you to just look up sexism to see how it can affect nonnormative men. I can give examples.

We have allies! When I found the discussion and saw the vitriol and violent threats directed at us I felt hopeless and alone, but now I know there are plenty of trans women and fems who support me having language. You'll find your people.

I have more to say and I'd be happy to talk to anyone new to the discussion, just reach out.
