#163 - Hoothoot (RSE, ORAS)
Hoothoot has an internal organ that senses and tracks the earth's rotation. Using this special organ, this Pokémon begins hooting at precisely the same time every day.

Escaflowne X Pokemon Crossover Fanart!
I just watched The Vision of Escaflowne in full for the first time this year (in the past, I only caught bits and pieces back when On Demand was a thing), and I loved the characters in it so much that I had to give them some Pokemon!
Van and Folken - Since they are half Draconian, I think Dragon type Pokemon would suit them well, especially gentle-looking dragons like the Dragonite evolution line. Neither of the two brothers are grown up yet here, so I gave them Dratini and Dragonair.
Allen - Honestly, I just love that he has a pet owl, so I gave him more owls! Any excuse to draw more Hoothoots and Noctowls.
Merle, Naria, and Eriya - Three different kinds of Meowth for the three cat girls of the show! Side note: I like how different their ears are from the usual anime cat girl.
Dilandau - Giving him fire type dogs like Arcanine, its Hisuian variant, and Houndoom was an easy choice since he loves burning things and has a connection to dogs/dogmen.
Hitomi - I gave her two other Pokemon that can see glimpses of the future: Gothitelle and Xatu. Both of them have Pokedex entries suggesting that they sometimes experience distress from the visions they see, so Hitomi would be able to understand their pain in a way most others couldn't, and vice-versa.

SO. Pokemon DCMK AU, do you have thoughts on the ekoda kids? i name marill line after Aoko, araidos for Akako, noctowl for Hakuba. oh! and lopunny for Ran. any other matchups for these characters in your mind? what about Haibara!!!
Tumblr media
1/2 of the Ekoda gang and their Pokemon!
Yapping below as usual:
Ariados for Akako is such a good idea! I drew both Haibara and Aoko here, make sure to check it out :] Even if it's a bit old lol
Watson is Hakubas main partner, he likes the spotlight and is really smart so he is always happy to be on camera. His Pidgeot is probably his strongest Pokemon, but she doesn't particularly like being watched and would really only make an appearance when he needs to battle. His Hoothoot is primarily there cause Hakuba is all about time alkjfakjf I think his mega stone would be a part of his pocket watch, but didn't want to figure out how to draw that so I didn't include it lol.
Akako has an entirely female team! Her main and strongest partner is her Delphox. I think Froslass would join her team specifically to go after the unworthy men that try to date her trainer haha. I don't see her being super interested in battling, but she can definitely hold her own in one. She specializes in status conditions in my mind.

TMA Pokemon AU: Jmart Edition
Alright here’s Jon and Martin’s teams! Previous post was on Elias and Peter’s teams which you can find: here. As Elias and Jon share some pokemon lines being Eye avatars and Peter and Martin kinda share one and the more in depth explanation is on that post
Jonathan Sims:
Espurr: As stated in my previous post, the Espurr-Meowstic line is Eye aligned and has strong psychic powers. Espurrs however cannot fully control theirs unlike the more experienced evolved forms. As such Jon and Espurr grow their powers alongside each other. He caught his Espurr shortly before his promotion (which Elias took as a good omen)
Espurr has mad beef with Meowstic though. She’s normally quite shy and tends to hide behind Jon or sit in his lap while he reads statements, but when Espurr sees Meowstic around the Institute, she immediately gets defensive (see cats puffing themselves up). It’s not uncommon to see those two in some kind of staring match around the archives.
Munna: Again per previous post, the Munna- Musharna line is Eye aligned with their dream/nightmare eating ability being similar to Eye avatars tormenting their victims dreams. Actually all head Archivists get a Munna upon promotion. Even Gertrude had one. Jon found a pokeball on his desk when he was promoted, a gift from Elias. He thought nothing of it until he read through Gertrude’s notes saying she was suspicious of it.
His relationship with Munna is complicated. The pokemon can’t help being Eye aligned, but he never wanted to be an Avatar of the Eye much less an avatar of anything. When he accepts being one and wakes from his coma, it evolves alongside his Espurr.
Type: Null : The funny thing about Type: Null is that it’s incredibly rare and not naturally occurring. It was made by people to imitate a god. A god that can use and be every type. Yes, Type: Null represents Jon being marked by all the fears (and a bit of the lighter) and is somewhat of the receptacle for it as well.
Jon has no memory of catching it nor does he question it until remembering the Leitner book he read as a child. Type: Null appeared as his after that incident. Its pokeball is always on his belt, he doesn’t know where it came from. Despite being a gift from the Web and what Elias is using to prepare him for the Watcher’s Crown, Type:Null is loyal and tries its best to protect Jon. It’s been with him for a long time and to be fair Jon is also quite attached to it as well.
Diving into the more vibes based pokemon now:
Smoliv: Anxious little dude. Peak wet cat Jonathan Sims energy. Also Jon feels like a grass type trainer if not for the supernatural shenanigans pulling him into a Psychic/Fairy typing.
Snivy: Again vibes but really Snivy has that same stuck up attitude of s1 Jon, it’s a solitary type pokemon and when it evolves into Serperior, it is able to defeat enemies with a single glare (Aka s5 Jon obliterating other avatars) Snivy was Jon’s starter pokemon, has been with him longer than any of the rest. Snivy’s prickly attitude is a much of a defense mechanism as it is for Jon.
Noctowl: Vibes but also Jon raised it from a Hoothoot! He would stay up late reading and a Hoothoot would be outside his window. It was his companion at night and eventually he saved enough allowance to buy a pokeball to catch it.
Jon thinks it makes him look scholarly….Tim says it means he’s a fucking nerd. Martin thinks it’s cute. If Jon has to battle, it’s Noctowl he’s sending out.
Martin Blackwood:
Audino: Healer pokemon, kind and gentle. Emotionally intelligent. Martin is at his heart someone who wants to help thus he would have an Audino. He also has Audino because he did drop out of school to become a caretaker for his mother so he would need the help of a healer pokemon.
Mawile: Mawile’s whole thing is that she looks cute but is deadly when you get close. Which does fit Martin’s looks like cinnamon roll, will kill you vibe. He’s got plenty of spitfire in him and yet tries to be kind. But truly Martin’s not the doe eyed guy that most people think he is. In fact out of all the archives staff, at least after Sasha is gone, Martin is the best battler they have.
He caught Mawile as his first pokemon and she is very protective of him. She likes to surprise people as Audino is the one people see hanging around Martin more often, so they are usually shocked when she pops out of her ball, ready to throw down.
Polteageist (antique form): Spooky tea. That’s it. Martin would have one. He thinks it’s cute and sure he caught it on Institute grounds and maybe the sheer amount of ghost types appearing around the Institute is a little creepy but Martin doesn’t mind. Who wouldn’t love a little tea cup?
Joltik: A nod to Web!Martin. He caught Joltik before being hired and the little spider loves to hang out with him. Joltik often sits happily upon Martin’s head and also sometimes messes up the electronics more than usual.
Joltik freaks the hell out of Jon so Martin is careful not to bother him with Joltik on his head. (Jon eventually gets used to it, but he does still get weird vibes from it)When Jane Prentiss attacks, Joltik refused to come out of its pokeball. Joltik also really hated Peter. Joltik is somewhat of a gift from the Web but it’s unaware of this. But it definitely made its hatred for Peter known for pushing Martin onto a different path.
Ninetales (Alolan): Caught during Martin’s Lonely arc. Martin’s not really an ice type trainer. He’s a multi type so it’s not like he has preferences but he’s very aware that Ninetales didn’t fit his team dynamic. And that was good because he caught Ninetales to help further his fooling of Peter.
Despite this, Martin does take care of Ninetales and as much as he did fight it, Martin does end up leaning towards the Lonely. As stated before Martin’s a damn good battler, and when shit goes tits up in the Apocalypse, he knows how to integrate Ninetales into his battle style and destroys avatar ass with them.
Sylveon (shiny): (The shiny part is just because the inverse blue and pink matches Martin’s color palette more.) Like I said in my Lonelyeyes poke post, it is Lukas family tradition to be given an Eevee and to turn it into a Glaceon upon being initiated into avatardom. So Peter gifted Martin an Eevee.
And welp sorry Peter, the power of love beats the Lonely and when Martin reveals he did all of this for Jon, his Eevee evolves into a Sylveon, thus rejecting the Lonely. (Elias was fucking losing his shit at this, he was almost too busy cackling to tease Peter about losing their bet.) It is also Sylveon that helps lead Jon to find Martin in the Lonely, despite not even know that it is Martin’s pokemon. Jon just felt somehow connected to it and through it, Martin.
Notes:
If they were in the actual Pokemon world, Martin would be an Ace Trainer or a Ranger. They are lucky Martin choose to be kind because he would make a damn scary pokevillain.
Jon would be a poke-researcher. He would love to just be filling out a pokedex, looking into pokemon myths and legendaries. Getting his ass beat by them pokemon like Professor Birch and the poochyenas. (Pokemon AU in which Jon is a professor who is always getting into trouble because he is dogshit at battling and Martin somehow always finding him on his journeys and having to save him from whatever legendary Jon discovered and pissed off. The archives crew are still Jon’s assistants and they are just like hey man maybe stop going into weird caves???)
Snivy was super snooty to Martin in the beginning much like its trainer. But also much like its trainer, Snivy got very attached to Martin as Jon too fell in love with him. Snivy was very distressed when Martin was on his Lonely arc and stopped coming around.
Audino is often very worried about Jon, seeing as the man is kidnapped on a regular basis, would probably keel over if a strong gust of wind came along, and has very little sense of self preservation. Martin has Audino watch over Jon when he’s off distracting Peter. Bless Audino’s heart because she had to hear the Jmart pining from both sides and she’s not even telepathic like Espurr so she can’t tell them to just kiss already.
Despite Jon not being great at taking care of himself, he is excellent at taking care of Pokemon. This is due to him reading a lot as a child and basically did the “i read the dictionary as kid so now i know lots of words” thing except he just read and studied pokedex entries a lot as child and now is super well versed in random pokemon facts. Which leads to him being very good at knowing what each pokemon needs. Even though Joltik freak him out, he still carries around battery packs for it to snack on.

Dc x pokemon: Common Gotham Pokemon
The City of Gotham and surrounding areas- which make up a large part of Kane County, New Jersey- features large populations of Dark, Poison, Fighting, and various other pokemon.
It also features the largest collection of distinctly different Bat-like pokemon species in North America.
Below, we'll go over the most populated species of pokemon in Gotham and the nearby Slaughter Swamp.
These pokemon are extremely numerous in the dreary city of Gotham, though there are more species overall, these are the most commonly spotted without populating around specific structures or being a less populated species.
For example: Gotham does have magnemite but they're only found where electricity is generated in the city or attracted to the labs in research centers or technology development where high uses of power are common.
Goomy are present in Gotham as well; they're just not common and are an example of a less populous species for the city- only found in specific areas.

Just saw a Hoothoot video about someone trying to get a service Charizard????? Guys. Charizard don’t make good service Pokémon. Hydrapple doesn’t make a good service Pokémon unless all of the Syrpents have the right personality because if one Syrpent gets moody or upset, all seven do, even if you don’t see two of them save their tails. Hydrapple are fickle as heck! The only reason Venti is a service Pokémon is because I got him as an Applin and he immediately took to taking care of me when I was having bad pain days! It’s in his personality, and the main Syrpent is good at keeping the other six in line when it comes to moody days! Charizard are notorious for being hard to train, and I’ve heard nothing but bad about having them as service Pokémon for it!

So this Au still needs a name, BUT
I have figured out what Most of the pokemon evolved from! It only took uh, lemme look at a clock, a week or three!
For those not interested in clicking a link, it's a pokemon/dc crossover but pokemon is straight up just a Gotham thing. Like, the flora and fauna and everything else have become corrupted/ mutated/ adapted, etc into strange creatures with stranger abilities thanks to the chemicals, magic, death pits, curses, and everything else all mixing together.
So anyway, have a list of what each pokemon originally were before Gotham got a hold of them. Some things brought into Gotham (such as via zoos, museums, or rogues or whatever) and others always there. Do keep in mind I am (mostly) not including Legendaries because I'm still not sure if I want those in the Au yet lol.

Strigidae
Tumblr media
Also just called owls, but Strigidae is very fun to say, so I'm going to say that. Strigidae are a genus of nocturnal birds of prey pokemon. They're known for their sharp talons, binocular eyesight, and silent flying feathers. The word Strigidae itself means "shrill," which is definitely what these pokemon are known for.
Because of Rookidee'a feathers resembling an owls feathers, many people think that the Rookidee line are Strigiformes. But, they're not and are pure corvuses.
Strigidae Pokemon
Hoothoot/Noctowl
Rowlet/Dartrix/Decidueye
Spritzee/Aromatisse (they're also in the Corvus family and Phoenicopteridae (flamigo) family)

TOH Pokemon AU: Eda
Hey hello hi have some winter snow owls. But as Pokemon. You know the drill by now. Long-winded AU worldbuilding and Pokemon team under the cut
Boiling Hoothoot -> Boiling Noctowl -> Somnowl - The Palisman
The toughest choice of this AU was deciding whether or not Owlbert was going to be a Noctowl variant or a Decidueye. And while I do think you can make some strong arguments for Decidueye, its more versatile typing and abilities makes as well as its rarity makes it a better fit for a Pokemon Eda encountered a little later on into her childhood. Boiling Hoothoot meanwhile, she went and found that in the woods with her dad as a little girl. It's common, but respectable - a bird, just as the Clawthornes have always specialized with. They're *the* Birdkeepers of the Isles, and Flying Type specialists more generally. It's in their blood. In fact, urban myth claims said Clawthorne blood has more air in it than the average witch. Birdfeed for thought, one can suppose.
Boiling Hoothoot is basically what Hoothoot's line always should have been: Psychic Flying. Due to the overflowing Infinity Energy of the Boiling Isles and its idyllic environment for Pokemon of all types, it even gains a third stage evolution the variants over in Luz's realm could only dream of in Somnowl, named for Smonus, an ancient god of sleep, and owl, a creature I hear claim live in houses and practice witchcraft. And it's not named after a god for no reason, either - it's decently strong all on its own. Noctowl is a little lackluster, but Somnowl is on par with your average third form starter Pokemon in stat distribution.
For characters whose palismen in the show were carved by their own hand as children, the workaround is that they simply caught or hatched said Pokemon very early on in their life instead, likely well before they ever entered school. And that's pretty much the norm for the Clawthorne clan. They are a long, proud lineage of bird keepers and Pokemon breeders alike, and their children are taught from as soon as they learn how to walk how to care for Pokemon of all sorts, but especially Flying types. Eda's Hoothoot Owlbert was raised with love and care from a hatchling by her own hand. While ordinarily she would be given an egg of a bird Pokemon that matches her temperament to hatch, given her particular... affliction, she chose instead to go out into the woods on the family's property and find an owl for herself.
It was there that she came across an abandoned nest, though it hadn't been abandoned willingly - it appeared some sort of predator had raided it, and there was nothing there but feathers, blood, and broken eggs. But, improbably, one had managed to survive and hatched after the carnage was complete. Eda took in this lone survivor as her own and raised it with all the care and expertise befitting her Clawthorne name. Supremely talented even all the way back then, she and her little Owlbert bonded exceedingly quickly, and a Palisman Battle Bond would be forged and activated by the end of their first month together.
Rowlet -> Dartrix -> Decidueye - The One and Only Owl Lady
Eda's second Pokemon came quickly after Owlbert had evolved into a Noctowl, and came as a shock to absolutely nobody when it was revealed to be yet another owl. An interesting fact about this AU is that all of the starter Pokemon you, Luz and I would be familiar with actually originate from the Isles and crossed over to Earth via naturally occurring Titan Blood Portals. This is why they're so insanely rare and valuable and almost never seem to pop up in the wild. The longer they've been on Earth, the more they've diverged from their Boiling ancestors. But Rowlet never had reason to change. Having crossed over into Alola, it found an environment more similar to the Boiling Isles than not. So this is, indeed, the Decidueye we know.
Eda had already decided for herself that the Emperor's "One True Type, One True Partner" doctrine was a steaming load of tauroshit by the time she found her Rowlet, so it followed that she felt no obligation to fasten a Battle Bond with Owlbert and only Owlbert. She had goals, she had ambition - if she was going to be the most powerful, feared, and most importantly of all, respected, Pokewitch on the Isles, curse or no curse, then she wasn't going to do that by handcuffing herself to just one Perfect Partner.
She loves Owlbert more than anything and he is incredibly important to her, obviously, nobody could ever argue otherwise, but there's no reason she cannot be equally close with all of her Pokemon. At least, that's how she saw it. And she was right! She had stumbled on to the way things used to be, the way the Titan actually intended it to be, in spite of Belos' best attempts to bury it deep and persecute those who strayed from his path. For this reason, Eda can fuse with any and every Pokemon on her team, and in her younger years, before the curse reached its peak, she was renowned for being able to understand any random Pokemon so perfectly and completely, she could fuse with just about any Pokemon you presented her with.
For this reason, she never really had a set team of 6 like most top tier trainers. She was special - she could work with anything. Bond with anything. She was an unstoppable force and she was barreling headfirst toward an immovable object. It was only a matter of time before they would collide, for better or worse...
Hooty -> Hooty -> Hooty - Hooty
Pokemon name: Hooty. Pokemon typing: Hooty. Nobody's ever seen a Pokemon like him before. His full power is an utter unknown and he's pretty much indistinguishable from canon Hooty. Improbably, he and Eda get along incredibly well.
King - The Son of the Isles
As all demons are simply advanced, speaking Pokemon, it was never in any doubt that King was a Pokemon, even if he didn't seem to demonstrate any sort of power. A Magikarp could kick his ass at the start, if we're being completely honest. With his bushy tail and soft fur, the prevailing assumption by most who see him is that he's some sort of unique, demon variant of Eevee, and that his utter lack of any battle ability whatsoever was because like an Eevee, he needed to be exposed to a certain type of energy via a stone to come into his true power.
Imagine their surprise when they find out he's a baby legendary and the one and only child of the Titan itself. His power will be unfathomable, one day. But for now? He's just a really weird Eevee.
Yveltal - The Owl Beast
And here it is, the one you've been waiting for. What Pokemon takes the place of the Owl Beast? What is the source of Eda's curse? The answer - the only possible answer - is Yveltal. The Pokemon of Death is literally sealed inside of her like she's a jinchuriki, and it's angry. It's powerful. Primordial, even. It's draining her lifeforce for itself and contributes to her looking older than she actually is, and as its curse deepens with time, its power threatens the very bonds she makes with others, and her ability as a Pokewitch as a result.
You see, bonds are very much a "tangible" "thing" on the Isles. It's a sort of energy, a spiritual link. Whether it's physical or metaphysical, it has some sort of substance and power behind it that Yveltal, by its very nature, interferes with. Eda's ability to Battle Bond with any Pokemon was her own, and by drinking elixirs made with energy from Xerneas' Tree, Yveltal's influence over her mind and her bonds could be kept at bay... but only for so long. The older she got, the deeper the curse became, and the more frequently Yveltal reared its ugly head. One would think that fusing with a Pokemon might lessen its influence some, but it was the opposite - it gorged itself on the energy of Eda's bonds and made it harder and harder to forge them the more she fused with Pokemon like any true Pokewitch could. In the end, the only two she could still manage it with were Owlbert and her Decidueye. And then after fighting her sister, saving Luz, and being caught by Belos, even those bonds ended up completely severed.
But... few Pokemon are truly evil creatures. Compromises, understandings, can be reached. Even with Legendary Pokemon, even when they preside over Death itself. Death is not evil, it's a part of life and nature. It's just scary. But Legendary Pokemon more than any other will only deign to be caught and follow the orders of trainers or Pokewitches they truly respect. And to gain that respect, you have to prove yourself to them.
With Hooty's help, Eda finally manages this, standing up to Yveltal in the recesses of her own subconscious mind and reaching an understanding. The damage was already done and the toll paid - her battle bonds were broken, and she was no longer capable of forging new ones. But there was still Yveltal. No longer would it simply take her body as its own, but they could share control in equal measure as Harpy Eda. While she can no longer fuse with her Palisman or any other Pokemon for that matter, she can with Yveltal. And given its status as such a powerful, primordial entity... well, it's really not so bad of a trade-off in the end, is it?

If Jake and Chris had full teams of Pokemon, what Pokemon would they chose?
OH BOY a Big One, okey Dokey I’ll give this a try best as I can though I might have some leniency towards mostly older generations as those are the ones I grew up with
Chris:
- Charizard (His starter back when he was a Charmander; also is rare Blue Flame Charizard)
- Cubone
- Dragonite
- Cyndaquil
- Riolu
Jake:
- Raichu (Classic; Starter back as a Pichu)
- Hitmontop
- HootHoot
- Koffing
- Pidgeotto
They might not be the absolute most orthodox line ups but it sure these fit these characters best as I can tell
Thanks for the ask @confusedhummingbird XD this was fun

Owliversary Year 2
Hoo-ray! Well, it's a month late, but this is what I wanted to draw for my second Owliversary - and this is why this year I want to focus on my own work, since this should have been in December. nvn I've really enjoyed being into birdies ever since running into Berdly, and I really appreciate tons of birds now! 2023 had a lot - from Tulin and Penn in Zelda, pokemon with the Quaxly line, and Hoothoot and Ducklett added to the DLC (I want to make a group pokemon picture too but that's separate.) Pip and Freddy from T.O.T.S. is still a big thing I'm into - and Flamigo and Eiscue in pokemon reminded me of them! Kazooie got me into CBT, Kuru Kuru Kururin was a fun game I've always been into - and shortly after buying it, it came to NSO and I beat it. nvn My Bird-Day cake and sticking candles in everyone's tasty butts was a treat - Daddy Ducky, who stemmed from my obsession with Yosh-E-O's nakie dad duck, had a bunch of fun stories and art I made and stuff. :3 Baby Huey was a funny weird bird to get into with a fun cartoon and movie. Oh yeah and the King Penuin from the Mario Movie was a new fun surprise character. :3 There are others not mention - Mario Wonder had cool birds in it too! But, I'm blathering. nvo Thank hoo-ever in feathers I've had fun with this last year too. nvn And maybe a NSFW version added to the proper places later. My other birdy collage from last year was meant to have my actual bird friends in it so - maybe next time~!

Pokemon Teams for adult Owl House Characters.
So last year one of the big things I liked to do on Tumblr was take characters from Fantasy cartoons, think about, and design pokemon teams for them. With how big The Owl House cast is I was able to spend so much time coming up with teams for and got multiple lists. While scrolling through my posts I found that I had never actually posted my adult characters poke list. Luckily I still have the pokemon I picked, also I have started making collages of pokemon teams and adding them to the lists for visuals. Time to make and post my late list.
Rules for my lists
1.) Six pokemon is my max for a character... actually though for this list since many of the adult characters kinda got their screen time/story lines shafted I did 6 for the most important three, and gave remaining adults 2-5 depending on how much we saw of them and their personalities. If viewers can think of other pokemon that suit the smaller teams feel free to put them in the comments.
2.) I do not give any trainers legendary pokemon. They are in my opinion to powerful to own. Mythical pokemon very rarely appear on my lists (None will appear on this one). I also purposely try to avoid giving trainers fully evolved teams, as a personal preference. Even for adult characters I like to imagine their Pokemon potentially growing and evolving with them.
3.) For character with really close relationships (rivalry, friendship, family, romance) I sometimes like to give them similar pokemon, branch evolution, a special type, or parallel pokemon to show that relationship. So that is taken into account in these lists
4.) This list is compiled from what I know based on the anime and pokedex research I did myself. I might not match the games or manga
5.) These are of course my own opinions. If you have differentiating ideas than mine, or think a character is more suited to different typing's feel free to tell me. I actually love reading those comments
Now that that is out of the way teams below.
Eda(lyn) Clawthorne a.k.a Eda The Owl Lady
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hoothoot: Represent's Owlbert. I mentioned it on Luz's team, saying how it's technically Eda's pokemon, Hoothoot is also close with Luz, and frequently joins Luz's team in an effort to help Eda watch over her.
Noctowl: This represents Hooty. Since it is now cannon that Post final pre epilouge Hooty moves out of the Owl house and in with Lilith I will say the sisters made a trade and Lilith gave Eda her an Omastar.
Cubone: This is to represent King. Dana and the crew did base King's design off of Cubone, so How could I not give Eda a Cubone? (Fun coincidence Stanley Pines also has a Cubone on my GF list)
Gasty, Haunter, and Gangar: Okay so obviously Eda would have to have a cubone and a couple owls (Owl Lady), but the obvious aside you cannot tell me that "Ghost type" would not be her favorite type. As far as ghost types go these three are and will always be the Kings. Their designs rock, all three are super powerful, they are clever. If that's not enough they're all three mischievous pranksters. If Eda were ever to have pokemon minions, those minions would be a Gastly, Haunter, and a Ganger.
One finale thing is that I have learned Gangar is a trade evolution pokemon. At first I was going to say Eda had two Haunter's and just did quick exchange with Mortin or someone... but I changed my mind and decided that Eda already had a Haunter, but tricked a stupider Emperor's Coven Scout or bounty hunter for trading her their Haunter (evolved into Gangar) for a rock that she stuck in a pokeball and convinced then was a very rare pokemon. In her diffance they clearly weren't smart enough to in charge of anything beyond an actual rock.
Eda's team: Hoothoot, Noctowl (traded for a Omastar during Time skip), Cubone, Gastly, Haunter, Gangar.
Lilith Clawthorne
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Phantump and Trevenant: I decided to give Lilith three ghost type pokemon, liek I did for Eda (Spooky Sisters). At first I was gonna give her the licklit line, since its also a trilogy but well they really are not that impressive looking, especially when compared to Eda's three. In the end I when with the Phantump line. They are pretty cool looking, Are scary at first, but it turns out they just want friends. That is similar to Lilith's arc in the show... Also they have a move unique to them called "forest Curse". (The show wanted the fans to forget come season 2, but we all remembered). Trevenant requires a trade to evolve, so I gave Steve a pokemon that did too, and am just saying that her and Steve did a quick trade and trade back.
Bannette: Here's one Lilith had to have due to her... deep-seated unresolved/partially resolved family issues/sister complex. Bannette is also the evolved forum of Shuppet, which is one of Amity's pokemon, and I do like them having similar pokemon given that the epilogue implies that they became much closer after Amity cut Odalia from her life. Plus they both do work through complex issues in similar ways: getting a new hairstyle. (Another fun coincidence Stanford Pines also has a bannett on my GF list)
Murrkrow: This one is to represent her palisman Mike Socks. I picked it over a more similar colored bird because Murrkrow steal something it is bad to do, but are doing so to placate a higher up Honchkrow. This can represent Lilith's relationship with Belos and how he was able to manipulate her to do bad things.
Omanyte and Omaster: Lilith is a historian who absolutely loves history so she would want fossil pokemon, and being a part of the Emperor's coven likely had access to the means to revive a pair. I picked these two, well because they look similar to barnicles which Lilith canonically likes to make into crowns and wear on her head. For real though while this pair are smaller and not as colorful or powerful looking as the big Dino fossil pokemon, I could easily see Lilith easily loving them. As mentioned above Eda eventually comes around to see the pair as pretty cool too, and the sisters make a trade: Omastar for Noctowl. (Lilith seems to like to trading in this universe)
Lilith's Team: Phantump, Trevenant, Banette, Murrkrow, Omanyte, Omaster (traded for Noctowl in the time skip) .
Raine Whispers
Tumblr media
small note here that Raine will be the last one to get 6, as they are the list adult who felt fully explored to me, and I cannot exactly think of any story lines with them that feel missing.
Tumblr media
Noviern & Crobat: Now there is a handful of music based pokemon and it would have been an easy thing to just grab six of pokemon with musical inspiration and call that the team. But This is Raine Whispers! In a show filled with bards and other types of Witches They Stand out as the Most powerful Bard and on of the Most powerful over all. They deserve a much more thought out team than just basic music pokemon. So I thought deeper.
Raine's abilities don't really center around one particular type of music or even instrument. They are shown to study and be knowledgeable with sound waves. Noviern and Crobat are both sound wave pokemon. One a fierce dragon and flying type who is very strong in battle and a perfect Ace for Raine. The second one is a flying and poison type that's sonar can be used to detect medical issues and dangers. Plus both of them are Bat pokemon, and we all know about Raine and BATT's .
Zorua: this is representative of Raine's palisman Fiddlesticks. I origianlly was going to use Fennekin given that it is a wizard themed fox. But I decided Zorua was a better representative since it is able to transfom and hide its identity to protect itself. Raine was able to keep Fiddlesticks safe for decades by disguising them as an ornament on top of their violins. So fiddlesticks is represented by Zorua
A male & female Meowstic team: This is actually meant to be a reference/representation to Raine being gender queer and using "they/them" pronouns. Originally they may have both been refereed to singularly as "he" and "her"... just as Raine may have been once refereed to as before they became old enough to inform others that they are actually "they". Likewise since Raine has a pair that fight together they would now be refereed to as "they and them" when referenced or spoken about using pronouns, just like Raine is. I could have technically used any pokemon where the genders look different. I picked Meowstic because I liked its design, power stats, and being able to add Psychic types.
Drizzile: I had to give Raine a full team of six. Its what they deserve. Drizzile felt like the perfect pokemon to round out their team. It is super smart and a stealth pokemon, can camouflage itself into its surroundings like Raine had to. It's trap laying skills could be really useful for protecting the rebel base and helping thwart the capture of wild witches. I put it at its second stage of the sobble line because it is meant to be a "Moody, emo teenager", and I figure caring for it could help make Raine a better/ more empathetic teacher, which was their original job in the bard coven.
Raine's team; noviern, Crobat, Zorua, Male & Female Meowstic, Drizzile.
At first I was slightly unhappy with this team because none of Raine's pokemon were similar to Eda's and rule 3 has been my most important rule for THL lists. But after I was done I noticed that both Eda and Raine's teams are comprised mostly of nocturnal pokemon, which works great because both of them have such active night lives.
Steve Tholomule
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steve gets five as I consider him to be one of the most important side characters
Sandslash & Umbreon: So I mentioned these two on his brother Matt''s list. That Steve has had them for a while, and Matt likes them so much he caught baby version of them to raise himself (I also said on that list that in this world Steve probably got mixed up in Team Rockett, before leaving it to join the Pokemon rangers) At that time I didn't really think to deeply as to why Steve had them. Dark and ground types seemed like they would suit him. These two iconic enough I could see them being recurring pokemon for a recurring character. All in all they are just some pretty cool pokemon for a character who turned out to be a pretty cool guy.
Gourgeist: Once again not one I thought much about. It's a parallel to Lilith's Treevant, and the pokemon Steve used in his and Lilith's Trade to evolve it then trade back exchange. This also kinda makes it a representative of their relationship: How Lilith is implied to be the one superior who gave Steve praise and treated him well. Remembering that Kindness Steve refused to turn his back on her when she left the coven, and was even willing to recommend her a "good therapist" when he learned she was having trouble breaking some of her learned responses.
Pom-pom style Oricorio: This one is because of Steve. It is a cheerleader pokemon. Steve's original depiction is as a guy who likes to loudly cheer for people he believes in. Originally Steve anf Oricorio cheared for the Emperor. Then they learned better, and now cheer for the recovery of the Emperors abuse victims (themselves and the others).
Nidorena: Steve's final pokemon, whom he caught around the time he left the Emperor's coven. It is very protective of children, and Steve's breaking point with the coven's was when they sent him to capture and forcibly apply sigil's to children. No no, that is not what Steve and Nidorena want for there lives or the lives of those they meet.
Steve's team: Sandsladh, Umbreon, Gourgeist, Pom-pom style Oricorio, Niorena.
Eberwolf the Huntsman
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eberwolf (like his bro Darius) is clearly a character the show wanted to do much more with, but he was introduced to late and the cut seasons meant they ran out of time. I have come up with 4 pokemon for him, and really wish I could have done 6 (this is the most powerful beast keeper in the isles!). so if anybody can think of two more please put them in the comments
Steelix: Eberwolf's ace. It is representative of the Eber's pet Ratworm, whom frequently aided him on missions.
Venipede: representative of the red-biting bugs he fought with on the day of unity
Pignite and a Midnight Lycanroc: a strong fire pig and scary werewolf for the character who's name is a combination of "Boar" and "wolf"
Eberwolf's team: Steelix, Venipede, Pignite, Midnight Lycanroc.
Darius Deamonne
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Darius is another character with 4 pokemon
Shiny Muk: Giving Muk or Grimer to Amity and Jerbo who started off the show still learning their craft was a no brainer, as raising/training those pokemon could help them figure out how to craft abominations and how they should move. But I also figured that even adult/master abomination specialist still keep muk's for compainionship and as muses for their craft (maybe Darius's trains him too, when he is in his second form). I gave Darius a shiny Muk because it fits his vanity/ pretentious side. That to him even goop monsters should be pretty. ( Afterwards I remembered that Hunter and Luz are the two children I gave shines to on my childrens list, and Darius is also close to Hunter).
Servine: A pokemon that Eberwolf found for Darius/ pushed him to catch, telling him what a strong pokemon it is and how it shares Darius's attitude and dislike of being dirty. It finds itself stuck spending a lot of time with Eberwolf's dirt loving Pignite, and the two's realtionship mirrors that of their trainers.
Delcatty: Another one I chose for Darius based on its fancy stylized appearence (to be real I had to give him at least 1 sorta purple pokemon) and more indifferent 'Leave-me-to-my-peace-and-me-time-please" additude. Also it is popular in contests and Darius would likely be a retired big star among those
Impidimp: Among Darius's multiple high class, pretty snoots, he has Impidimp who is a hyperactive, crazy, board line feral... well Imp. How Darius came to own such a pokemon? Well that is elementary: It just kinda showed up one day and made a habit of messing with him. Darius would yell at it to go away or try to leave himself, but Impidimp decided teasing and annoying Darius was a lot of fun and filling; so it frequently went looking for him. This initially caused Darius a lot of frustration and prompted him to eventually Scream at it "Stop following me. I am not and do not want to be your friend"... After that he did not see Impy for a few days got a tad bit worried about it. Then he heard that sever weather was coming and rushed out into the woods to look for it. He claims he had to catch it in a pokeball because it is just to ridiculous to look after itself. No one believes this Lie. Darius loves Impidimp.
Darius's Team: Shiny Muk, Severine, Delcatty, Impidimp
Alador Blight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I settled on three pokemon For Alador
Female muk: I swear I saw an episode of the anime where female muk's were depicted as having rosy cheek's, but according to what I found on pokedex sights they actually look exactly the same as the males. Regardless Alador's muk being female is an important detail, because it is in fact the mother of Amity's muk. Hence how he was able to gift her a baby grimer when she became interested in abominations.
Pikachu: Meant to represent Ratador, Alador's little rat palisman. I went with pikachu over say Rattata becasue it is a pokemon that evolved with high friendship, and as Alador does not fly or fight with a Staff, I am assuming that Alador primarly needed Ratador for a buddy.
Volcarona: Don't even try to argue with me that a giant fire breathing moth isn't something Alador would be head over heals For. It's a flying insect, with destructive powers and potential, and its Alador. enough said... it actually gets along petty good with, and enjoys flying around with the twins Butterfree and Masquerin.
Alador's Pokemon: Female Muk, Pikachu, Volcarona
Principal Hieronymus Bump
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And three pokemon for everybody's favorite principal
Indeedee (male): Indeedee is actually the pokemon I picked to represent Frewin. Now I know Impidimp is the closest to him in appearance, but Frewin is unique among pasliman in that he provides a really specific, physical, aid to Bump: he is Bump's seeing eye palisman. So I googled what pokemon would be the best at that, and Indeedee (male) is what I got. It is a psychic type, can sense other's emotions using its horns, and is super protective and caring towards its trainer.
Bastion: an ancient and powerful shield dinosaur, I picked to represent Bump's bond with his students, how protective he is of them, and his desire to shield them from the worst evils of their corrupt system.
Comfrey: We know Bump actually does really like flowers. But more than that Comfrey's helps people relax, Something Bump is shown to not do nearly as much he would like to. Also Comfrey would probably be a big help in calming down stressed out or fighting students.
Odalia Blight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Odalia only gets two pokemon
Abra: It is cute and sleepy looking pokemon, that Odalia will publicly dote on. It gives the impression that both it and Odalia are such sweet individuals... No one knows that behind the scene Abra is Odalia's spy, who reports anything her family or employee's do that she can use as an excuse to manipulate or punish them for.
Spiritomb: This one is representative of the mummy spirit she fights Alador and the hexsquad with at the end of season two. In otherwords it helps her deal out punishments
Camilia Noceda
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would have loved to give Camilia more than two pokemon (She totally deserves more pokemon than Odalia) but she was only in 3 epsidoes, and there is no sandal pokemon. So this was all I could come up with on my own
Wigglytuff: Camilia is a vet. By the time I got to her I had already used all three of Chancey's evolutionary forms on teens from this show. So I looked up alternate pokemon Nurse Joy's have owned. On that list I found Wigglytuff. Its a great pokemon, and a cute little critter, so I picked it. It helps Camilia out at her vet center, and at home has taken a shine to Vee and her baby Happiny, whom it helps Vee teach new moves.
Shiny Elgyem: For Camilia's second pokemon because it is all Alieney and Sy-fy, which are two genre's Camila is shown to love. Also is it a Shiny. IF Darius gets a shiny pokemon, then so does Camilia. Luz has a shiny pokemon too, and this is not a "who adopted Hunter post show post".

Memories of Gold and Red (A Lost Silver Story)
Footsteps echo off of the wooden floors and empty walls of Sprout Tower. The only other sound that filled the usually dead air was the creaking of the giant wooden beam that acted as support for the tower itself. Gold looks around with worried eyes at his current environment. He didn't recognize this floor of the previously explored tower, memories of his previous fights against the wise sages and their barrage of Hoothoots and Bellsprouts flashing in his mind. There were no widows, the only things that allowed each floor of the tower to be lit. There were no ladders that acted as entrances or exits, making him wonder how he even got to the room in the first place. There were no windows either, the only light being the flickering flames Hurry's back.
He frowns when he looks down at the Cyndaquil that he chose for his first Pokemon. The small fire-type was quite sickly when he received it from Professor Elm, he was even warned that it was born with a eventually terminal level illness. However, Gold was determined to raise him and help him grow big and strong. He lets out a gasp when Hurry suddenly lets out a flurry of coughs and collapses onto the floor, wheezing breaths coming out of the fire mouse as it was being scooped up in Gold's arms and carried down a hall that suddenly appeared.
"It's ok... You're going to be ok, Hurry." Gold mumbles softly as his eyes dart between the dimming hall and his weak Pokemon. His racing heart manages to beat faster when he sees several eyes staring at him from the dark walls. He soon comes to a screeching halt when he eventually reaches a lone sign, a few Unowns hovering over it and spelling out L-E-A-V-E. Gold nods frantically, trying to fight back tears of fear for his sick partner.
"Yes... Yes please. Let me leave." He mutters loud enough for the letter-like Pokemon to hear, hoping that they would somehow get him and Hurry out of this hellish version of a familiar tower. His eyes widen in panic as the flames on Hurry's back grown dimmer and dimmer. "No... no, no, no, no, no...." He cries softly, shaking his head and choking back tears. He holds Hurry close, tears finally slipping past his eyes as the usually warm Pokemon was now cold and lifeless in his arms.
"Hurry... Hurry, I'm so sorry..." He cries, quickly falling onto his knees and quietly sobbing. Gold doesn't realize that his arms were now empty until he went to wipe his eyes. He looks around his new location, an empty field filled with grey stones. The Unown had answered his plea, he was out of that tower. However, he was now all alone. Well, save for a few new Unowns that hovered above a blank stone, their letters spelling out H-E D-I-E-D. "Wh-What... Who died?" Gold asks before looking back down at the stone. Etched into the stone was a phrase that read, R.I.P Hurry.
Gold didn't have time to cry or even react as the eyes of the Unown soon began to glow with psychic power. He soon finds himself in a new hallway. This one was lined with red wooden panels on both the floor and walls, the sudden brightness of the scenery made Gold's eyes hurt. He stands up to start walking before he feels immediately collapses back onto his knees. A sharp pain goes through each of his arms and legs, preventing him from moving. He opens his mouth, but nothing comes out. His face contorting in pain along with his silent scream. He grits his teeth together and clenches his jaw as the pain continued to ebb through his body, though it soon started to fade when the Unown picked up his body and sets him on his feet.
"Thanks..." Gold croaks out, wiping any remaining tears from his eyes before pausing when he looks at his hand. His tears were... red? Surely that must've been a trick of the light in the room. The red coloration was just getting to him. He lets out a breath before he starts to walk down the long hallway, feeling more eyes on him as he glanced at the walls. He continues down the seemingly never ending path until he reaches what seemed to be the end. A lone person stood at the end, facing the wall. His cap covering messy looking black hair, a familiar gleam in his eyes when he looked at Gold.
"Red...?" Gold whispered in shock. Red, as usual, didn't say a word and instead lets out his Pikachu. The electric mouse looked differently than how Gold remembered. Its usual cheerful expression was replaced with one of sorrow, like the Pokemon was about to burst into tears at any moment. Without even moving or saying a word, one of Gold's Pokeballs pops open and summons a pink Celebi.
Gold remembered when he first met the Onion Fairy Pokemon in the Ilex Forest. Though now, it appeared to be badly hurt. Half of it's body looked like it had been viciously torn off, leaving exposed insides loosely hanging from the missing chunk of its body. Celebi's good eye looks at Gold, clearly expecting a command from him.
"Perish Song..." He says, his voice monotone as if someone else said the name of the move for him. He watches as Celebi nods and begins to sing, a sorrowful but beautiful and haunting melody filling the air. The move seemed to only last a single turn as Pikachu refused to attack, instead choosing to look at Red. The former champion gave Gold and both Pokemon a sad smile before collapsing to the ground, all life in his body seemingly sapped away by the song. Pikachu lets out soft sniffs and sad squeaks as it moved over to Red, going underneath his arm and nuzzling under his chin before closing its eyes and joining its trainer in tearful eternal slumber. Gold feels his eyes slowly close as well before falling unconscious.
He wakes up with a gasp, panting softly as he looks around a new location. Celebi and the bodies of Red and Pikachu were gone. Now he was back in his bedroom in New Bark Town, a small smile growing on his face when he realizes this. "A nightmare... It was all a nightmare." He breathes in relief, letting out a laugh as he gets out of bed and runs down the stairs. His smile grows more when he hears the voices of both his mother and Kris in the living room. He soon stops once he reaches the bottom of the stairs, his smile fading slightly when he realizes that both of their voices sounded sad and remorseful. His smile fading completely when the sound of crying hits his ears.
"Oh Kris, I wish I could've held him one last time before... before he..." His mother cries before her words turn into heartbroken sobs. Kris gives her a worried look and gently rubs her back, her blue eyes filled with sadness.
'Before what?' Gold thought to himself. He walks closer and his eyes widen when he sees what was clutched in his mother's hand.
A framed photo... His photo...
That's when he noticed the other items that were on the coffee table. Flowers, cards, unlit candles and little statues of Pokémon. A mini memorial.
For him...
"Mom...? Mom... I'm right here. I'm ok..." Gold says as he attempts to get his mother's attention.
Only for the pain from before to return. This time it felt like his neck was being shredded from the inside, a metallic taste hitting his tongue as he coughed harshly. Tears flowed from Gold's eyes as he coughed and gagged, red droplets soon scattering onto the couch.
"Mom! Please! I'm right here!" He hoarsely cries out, his voice merely a rasp "I'm ok! Mom! Kris! Please... say something!"
It was no use... No matter how much he screamed and begged... He knew that they wouldn't hear him...
"Please... Mom... Kris... I'm scared..." He whimpers before collapsing to the floor. Sniffles and hiccups fill what soon turned back into the stone filled field. He peeks his head up and looks around, a new set of Unown hovering over a new stone. This one had a new set of words etched into it.
R.I.P Ethan Gold...
"What...?" Gold asks, shaking his head as he looked at the tombstone. His tombstone. This wasn't possible. How was it possible? The chirps of the Unown gain his attention as he looked up at the Psychic types.
"I'm dead..." He read aloud, his voice a whisper of shock and horror.
As soon as the words left his lips, a pain that was stronger than before ripped through his body. He screamed and cried as he collapsed to the ground. Every part of his body feeling like it was being torn and shredded from his body.
Even as it eventually came to an end, he cried. An unending stream of tears flowing from his eyes. He sobbed louder than he had been able to. Painful and sorrowed wails as every memory he had flashed through his mind. His journey. All of the people he had known. His mother, Kris, Silver, Professor Elm. He would never see them again.
He was alone... mournful... scared...
Lost.
(Extra scene below the cut)
Footsteps echo off of the wooden floors and empty walls of Sprout Tower. As he walked, Gold thought to himself...
Haven't I been here before?
And... why does it feel like I've done this more than once?
