I just had my first ever adult-y 'im sorry but we can't be friends anymore' conversation and it really sucked and it really hurt and I'm writing it down here bcus i feel awful🫠

Long story

So we met on the dating apps years ago and we've kept in contact ever since cause he's genuinely a sweet & cool guy. Also, he was hard of hearing and would teach me cool indo sign language stuff

He lives in another city and only visits occasionally for work reasons but whenever he stopped by we would hang out

Back then it would be hanging out and hooking up but ever since i met my bf he wanted to make it clear that the latter was off the table since he wasnt comfortable with it

The next time we met I had to explain to him that I was no longer in the market for a partner, but I really valued his friendship - trying my best to show that I didn't wanna lead him on if that was the case

Even though he said he understood, it really didn't seem that way over the next few months

We would be having normal conversations and catching up on whatsapp and he'd randomly say "so you don't have feelings for me?" or "what did i do wrong?" - and it really made it awkward like we were literally discussing our spotify albums 2 minutes ago what happened

The worst part is, he would ask these questions very genuinely and sometimes follow up on these questions. So then I would match the tone as best i can - only to get the response "haha yeah i was joking i already know haha". Whenever it happened i would laugh it off and look stupid

But the final straw happened a few hours ago. He was feeling flirty but i was tired so i said to try and find a casual hookup on the dating app. He's genuinely really handsome and he's always been popular on the apps so i said it shouldn't be hard for him and that he'd find someone within the hour

He then straight up LIES to me and says that he deleted the apps a few weeks ago, following that up by writing "you are more than enough"

Afraid that he thought i was leading him on or sending him signals, i tried to shoot that down as fast as possible. Basically going through the motions of rejecting someones advances as respectfully as i possibly could to a good friend i cared about

After a few grueling minutes of silence, he hits me with the "damn i wasnt being serious" and sends me a screenshot of the app still on his phone (full of unread notifications - remember: popular)

Fast forward an hour later and ive blocked him everywhere except instagram dms, where i told him that i needed some space

Yes he apologized profusely and yes i accepted his apology but i just got so stressed and humiliated that I couldn't take it anymore

I still feel awful

This is usually something i would vent to my boyfriend but he's asleep rn so ill just let my [tumblr] mutuals know and probably delete it when i wake up

Trevors life had definitely changed substantially in the past few months. Every single part of the pregnancy had been exciting and he could still remember the way his heart felt when his wife had told him she was pregnant. As more time passed he had only gotten more excited and nervous too because they both would be responsible for a small human. Before he got married and had met his now wife he barely could take care of himself and now he was going to be a father.

Life changed but it changed so beautifully for him. When his daughter was born and he got to see her for the first time, something just clicked for him. He had waited so many months for this moment and her precious life was in his hands. He knew that day going forward everything he did in his life would be for her and for his wife. Going back to work was hard because once they had gone home with the baby he didn’t want to leave the nursery much less the house.

But now he was slowly getting back into the groove of things. Tonight was his first game since the birth of his daughter and he was excited and nervous all at once for it. He wasn’t sure why he was nervous but maybe it was because his mind was still on going home and seeing the baby. That fear quickly went away because while on the ice he thought about her but still remained focus.

After the game he got told he was getting pulled for an interview and he had a feeling he knew about some of the questions. “Hello Trevor, we heard congratulations are in order. New baby at home, how are you feeling? Tired?” The interviewer asked and immediately a smile grew on his lips. He was already a talker but now forget it. “I’m great, my wife is a warrior and getting to watch her with our daughter the past couple of weeks has been amazing.”

“Definitely tired but it’s so worth it and I’m really looking forward to going home and getting to see my baby girl tonight even if she’ll probably be asleep by the time I get there.” Trevor moved to pull out his phone, pulling out his photo album. “Here I’ll show you some pictures. This is all I’ve done basically for the last couple of weeks. That and a lot of diaper changes.” He chuckled as he started showing the interviewer photos.

He was officially that dad who had to show pictures of his baby to everyone around him. They quickly wrapped up the interview and Trevor made his way home as quickly as he could. Once he got home his wife gave him a smile as he walked into the nursery to where she was holding their sleeping daughter in her arms. She raised a finger to her lips to make sure he wouldn’t talk too loudly. “We watched your game tonight and your interview.” She smiled at you, letting you know she heard every word you said. “Here want to hold her for a bit? I think she missed you."

I don’t wanna sound rude at all but I am genuinely curious as to why you ship 2doc? I’m not trying to like target you in particular or anything I’m just wondering in general why do people like it

This is gonna be a long one lmao

A little backstory: When I first got into Gorillaz I really hated Murdoc. My sister showed me a playlist of all the videos in order. The whole playlist I kept going on about how I didn't like Murdoc and my sister was like "well, just wait." By Lost Chord I was a bit sympathetic and beginning to like Murdoc, I loved seeing that he was helping everyone else escape before he did and I really liked seeing 2D save him despite everything.

I've always been a sucker for relationships with drama(even platonic relationships), for one, for two I love when characters have chemistry (even platonic chemistry) because of what they've been through together if that makes sense.

This was before I really knew much about the band at all besides what was shown in the videos and the first time I heard about 2doc I was confused and kind of weirded out that people would ship such a toxic and dysfunctional couple. As I learned more about the band and the characters, though, and as I dug into the lore, I found Murdoc to be a much more sympathetic character than I had originally seen. A flawed character, deeply flawed, but sympathetic nonetheless and with the inkling of a redemption arc forming. I also found it interesting that even after all that had happened, 2D and Murdoc still had this indescribable bond (that a lot of people label as Stockholm syndrome but I do not).

I was on twitter one day and stumbled across a discussion about the song Souk Eye and heard that in the live shows, every time the line "I will always think about you" was sung, Murdoc's face was up on the screen. I dug into the lore for TNN album and became even more intrigued with the ship. I saw a Souk Eye animatic that depicted 2D having these battling emotions over Murdoc being gone. That he really missed him but still resented him as well and by this point you could say I was dipping my toes into the 2doc waters.

I started looking for other signs that maybe it was implied to be a canon thing and found so much stuff thanks to a couple "2doc Daily" accounts on twitter (that really just regurgitated the same things the other account said, to the point that I didn't realize it was two different accounts for a couple months lol) that only posted canon evidence.

Maybe it's silly and a lot of people don't like it, but I really do like it. It's so fun to headcanon about the ship and their dynamic.

It really seems like 2doc has been somewhat implied since the beginning in the lore and some interviews, and even some of Jamie's art (them wearing each other's clothes, 2D with Murdoc's monogrammed razor hooked on his necklace, them sharing accessories like the little crown necklace and them sharing hats on PB, the original storyboard for the newspaper comic in Do Ya Thing, there's more examples but those are the ones off the top of my head rn).

Regardless of the ship's popularity, I've come to really like it and it just adds another layer of enjoyment to my love for the band! 🩵💚☺️💚🩵

I find the arrangement of the tracks on Disc 4 Side A "Bonus DLC Tracks" in the Dragon Age OST vinyl interesting. it's called "Bonus DLC Tracks" but the first track it features is "I Am The One (Dark Fantasy Version)", which isn't from DLC, it's from basegame DA:O, and ofc the last track is new. this disc is the only one of the discs to include songs from multiple games (and not even just two, but three: DA:O, DA:I and DA:D, assuming that "D'Read Koda" is from or tied to DA:D). and the order the Trespasser tracks are included in is different to the order they appear in on the Trespasser OST, at least going by the Trevor Morris album (on there it's Dark Solas Theme, Lost Elf Theme, Qunari Atmosphere). I wanna say that the way it was arranged was intentional, like the specific arrangement of the tracks on this disc is like hinting at telling a sort of a story or a tease. he's lost, and then things come to an end (his story and.. something else?). a passage of music that brings the music to a close (coda), that brings a piece or movement to an end. I think of when Flemythal said

Alas, so long as the music plays, we dance.

and when Solas said

 I walk the dinan'shiral. There is only death on this journey. [death is an end, and it can be a metaphor for the end of something too]

my eye is also drawn to:

I am the One (Dark fantasy version) [...] Dark Solas theme

especially since there's a different version of I Am The One ("High fantasy version") that could have gone in there instead (which as the second song on the DA:O OST, the high fantasy version is more of a 'where this all began' song).

the idea that "I Am The One" is about Solas/Fen'Harel and what happened in ancient Elvhenan (and what his intention is in the future) is a common fan theory, and not a new one. [link to English translation of the lyrics] the lyrics could be applied to a lot of things, or nothing at all, but back then there was a war (both within the Evanuris and one they fought before that), a divide between the gods, the sky was held back/there was great destruction when the Veil was raised (but despite that there was a flicker of hope in that the elves were freed from the Evanuris), the nature of time for the ancient elves was changed (elven immortality/mortality), he references the potential for the world now to burn in the raw chaos if he succeeds, In Your Heart Shall Burn/From The Ashes etc. he ended up being one of the only survivors who lived on from the event and fears dying alone, is one of the only elves in modern Thedas who remembers, he's asked for and turned to for guidance at various points (Lasa ghilan / Ma ghilana mir din'an / Ma ghilana, vhenan / Fen'Harel ma ghilana), he believes he's the only one who can fix it now in the modern day, etc.

listening again to D'Read Koda, the echo-y, pulsing aspect and how it rises to a crescendo reminds me of the music in the Dread Wolf Rises teaser (which is still such a banger). and the discordant notes remind me of the same here and here in the 2020 trailer music. the 'discordant note' hook is also present here in the in-game cinematic (also at the start and throughout it sort of underpinning it), and the general ominous atmosphere of the 'koda' also echoes that of the various bits of music we've heard in trailers and the in-game cinematic before.

anyways, since I don't have a vinyl player I made the tracks as a lil playlist for myself on Spotify and have been listening to that then playing one of the videos with the D'Read Koda audio in it (since ofc it isn't on Spotify rn) to have the same effect, and it's interesting.

I was around 8 or 9 years old when I saw the Bad music video for the first time, and I’d never had a crush until then. I was so young I didn’t even know what a crush was until years later when I saw another video and it clicked.

The Bad video was essentially my sexual awakening even though I didn’t realize or give it a second thought back then.

Happy Sunday, Marte! This is absolutely off topic but I’d like to ask you about your opinion - have you seen the nominees for Gr*mmy 2025? I really wish for Ch*rli to sweep her nominations but not sure if she’ll be able to win especially when in some of her categories is also The maninulatice Blondie - especially in the AOTY category. Also I’m suprised D*a L*pa wasn’t nominated in ANY category! I know her new album wasn’t just it and I personally only like like 3 songs from it but not even her single didn’t get any nomination? Maybe it’s me making a conspiracy theory rn but I kind of blame it to how she’s very vocal about Palestine (like for years, even before the recent conflict) and maybe she was blacklisted for the award? Especially if BW is still part of the making of the ceremony like he was when H won his awards almost 2 years ago. Does it make sense?

I have seen the Grammy noms, but the Grammy's are rigged so i'm mostly just annoyed by the whole spectacle. It's all label trade offs and it’s never about the music being good, it’s about who's turn it is to win. For some people it’s always their turn, despite there being more deserving winners. It also heavily favour americans or artist who does well in the american market. So the Grammy's means very little to me.

It’s also very much down to taste and personal preference who you think should be nominated and deserve to win. I personally can't stand Ch*rli, her exaggerated Essex accent, her fourth grade lyrics, drug-glorifying, autotuned same sounding songs. I get that gen z loves her though, i guess i'm getting too old for music made for tiktok dances, but i honestly can't believe people think that's good music deserving of awards. Sorry, anon 😅

And about D*a Li*a (and Ari*na Gran*e for that matter), it just goes to show that you can’t just make average music and bank on your name and standing in the business awarding you for it. It's good that they aren’t nominated, their music wasn't among the best this year. Can anyone really say that their albums are better than Chappell's? I don't think the reason for D*a not being nominated is political, her songs just aren’t good enough. Hozier wasn't even nominated...that should tell you something.

I think music awards should be about awarding music that will stand the test of time. Music that will be remembered years from now and played years from now. Music that's qualitatively good music. Strong, clever and brilliant lyrics, a good hook and original melodies, instantly recognisable and universally loved. Good vocal performance, a unique tone of voice, and emotional delivery. Music that most of us can agree on is good music, no matter our age, taste or the fame of the artist.

If the song or album doesn’t even hit top three of the artists own, it shouldn't get nominated. If an artist wins AOTY and it's their fourth best album, then what does that say about the quality of music that was released that year? Fucking bleak. I personally also can't stand when label backed artist (industry plants) win very undeservedly because of the lobbying the label did for them. Or when artists are nominated just because of their name, fame and fandom. But i guess the Grammy's needs viewers, and people are more likely to tune in if there are some big well-known names nominated.
