Oh good lord I’m so glad I was homeschooled. My brother and I both had a solid concept of reading before we even started kindergarten. Hooked on phonics, phonics specific workbooks, reader rabbit, and jumpstart were all fundamental parts of our childhood. As soon as I learned how to read, I was hooked. I could sit in my room and read all day long if I was allowed to, as could he.

PBS kids is the reason I am the way that I am. I can still remember Electric Company teaching me about silent letters and how to break words into familiar chunks to sound them out, and Word Girl and Martha Speaks teaching me advanced vocabulary words.

Kids not being able to read is a sad reality. I had no idea they were being told to just guess their way through words they didn’t know. Where are the abcs? Where’s the lesson on what sounds each letter makes?? A is for apple, B is for ball?? No Leapfrog Letter Factory??? 🎶“The E says eh, the E says eh, every letter makes a sound, the E says eh”🎶 is permanently ingrained in my skull.

This explains so much about why 20 somethings are just unable to read to any level of complexity beyond a tweet. The miserable failure of US pedagogy

He had no patience for conformity or society. It made me made you want to find out what happened to him and help him out, and it really made me gravitate toward him. So that's the subtlety in his performance that is so brilliant. It draws you in. You know, he doesn't overdo it, He just gives you a taste. -Scott

therapy today was so intense. good but so intense. i really like my therapist though i know ive said this but he literally printed me out the manual and another thing for the type of therapy we're doing so i can read it myself bc he trusts that im smart enough to understand it

and released these very crazy 4loko-esqe red/gray alcoholic energy drinks that the CD boys were taste-testing ( yes, they were Gone ) while they dramatically read and re-enacted the most vile, viral sex scenes written about them in aO3 fanfictions. it was...So Good.

but anyways, for con-sext, The Boys took turns reading...

kenny carried the whole thing on their back tbh ( all while wearing the skeleken facemask, might i add, which required them to suck their drink through a swirly straw...a lot of sucking jokes were made...smh )

scott, i think, had to pause every five seconds to laugh and when he wasn't, his med-student brain was looking too far into the logistics of all the sex positions and the motivations behind them...love him.

jimmy's performance was phenomenal, obviously, ( comedic legend ) but all the stuttering and slurring required subtitles, i fear. whaaack.

but, uh...speaking of Reading...and being Whack.
