CockTails in the Skyy! - Drink Recap
I made it through eight rounds of drinking, so I could get through Our Skyy 2 with minimal damage. Below are the basic ingredients for each drink, links to the connected post rambling about each episode, and the drinking GIFs I used for each installment. Feel free to take the GIFs and the drink recipes to use as you'd like.

Bottoms Up!
Rum-Antics - Never Let Me Go (7.5/10)

spiced rum since I couldn't get Mekhong
smashed blueberries for that purple color that Nueng and Palm always had during their lovey-dovey scenes
ginger ale because I think Nueng was studying abroad in England, but if not . . . it is what it is
brown sugar and lime juice on the rim for class differences
Sun & Stars - Star in My Mind (7/10)

gin & tonic to balance the bitter and sweet of Daonuea and Khabkluen's dynamic
pineapple juice for that beach vibe
elder flower syrup and vanilla bean sugar on the rim to add to the sickly sugariness they expell
Jack Nasty - The Eclipse (8/10)

Jack Daniel's Honey Whiskey for Akk and Ayan's sweet yet intense dynamic
unfiltered apple cider for the A+ prefect jerk, Akk
lemon juice for the wrench in the system and Sour Patch kid, Ayan
honey and cinnamon on the rim for Kan and Thua
Purple Pair - Vice Versa (6/10, could've been 9/10)

Absolut vodka because vodka is my least favorite liquor (just like this show), but Absolut since much like this company, I'm gonna support my fellow queers no matter what
cranberry juice for Puen's pink(ish)
curaçao for Talay's blue
lavender syrup and rock candy on the rim for the wild switcheroo between calm and chaos
For Goodness' Sake - My School President (9/10)

sake for Chinzhilla's hot pot adventure
more white wine for all the whining and pining the Gun and Tinn did
lemons, limes, oranges, grapes, and apple slices for the sweetness overload (I was going to comment about the variation of fruits, but I don't know the crowd's feelings on the word, so . . . *takes a big sip directly from the bottle*)
Deja Brew - A Boss & A Babe (8/10)

dark coffee for our "tough" boss, Gun
vanilla brandy for the boss's babe, Cher
soy milk and ice for the men holding it together Tubtab and Jack
whipped cream and chocolate shavings for the disgustingly sweet Three and Zo
Sleigh What? - Bad Buddy (9.5/10 crossover with ATOTS)

champagne because all I hear is Jessie Ware's "Champagne Kisses" when I see these too
coconut water for episode 11's cake by the ocean (sex on the beach)
mint for that refreshing Pran smell that Pat loves
Christmas glass because it felt like Christmas getting that crossover and never forget Pat was shot on Christmas Eve!
Par-tea-ing Ways - A Tale of Thousand Stars (9.5/10 crossover with Bad Buddy)

tequila because I was saving my favorite liquor for my favorite series in this lineup
mango tea for those sachets that saved the village
chimoy and Tajín on the rim for that 🔥🔥🔥 Tian and Phupha bring
As usual,
Cheers, Queers!

lemonade! angel by the sea! sunset boulevard! tell me all about this decrepit old man
summer self-ship asks
oh mae
lemonade 𖦹 what’s your go to drink order? what’s theirs?
we're both whiskey drinkers who can drink it straight or on the rocks, however in MMBau we're sober 🤘🏼 from simply where we've been in the world, kenny (transatlantic lifestyle) is annoying about scotch while i truly have a dad's knowledge of bourbon. so summertime? i do a bourbon peach tea or a mint julep and also fuck with a red sangria. he thinks cocktails are a rip off
non-alcoholicly, he wants me to quit coffee since i can drink like a gallon of cold brew a day in the summer and vibrate off the walls with cubanos or cafes con leche in other seasons. he does not know he and levi share a penchant for tea; uri put him onto herbal options like licorice root and chamomile, which suck cold, so in the summer he just wants like, ice cold water with some sort of citrus rind; because of me, calamansi juice. also he likes a mango lassi
angel by the sea 𖦹 what pet names do they use for you? what pet names do you use for them?
MAE THIS IS DANGEORUS TERRITORY MY FACE IS STEAMING
him for me: kat, babe, baby, darling, sweetheart; kitten MOSTLY in bed, at time of posting i'm mid-smut writing where honey and sugar have come up
me for him: ken, babe, old man; daddy ONLY IN BED, if out of bed he started it
sunset boulevard 𖦹 what are your favorite spots to make love?
okay this is actually a shockingly boring answer based on my real life experience but 30 cm height difference means we are dependent on furniture which means him standing and me strewn or sat upon something, all best accomplished indoors with a tall bed or a kitchen counter/bathroom vanity/desk. rare excursions involve either me on top or held up against a wall or door and he is fit and (very) strong, especially in a canon or canon-ish AU! but we deadass both have knee and back pain, me from hauling around this giant rack
besides logistics, he doesn't have much of an exhibitionist streak which he would attribute to a bit of conservatism but is more that he's a lowkey toxic serial monogamist who's far too possessive for it (if it's an AU where uri is alive, we're besties/eskimo sisters who commiserate on it)

summer cant be forever but every summer crystallizes in amber and if you place it underneath your tongue and leave it there for awhile it will dissolve and you can remember the taste of watermelon wine by the creek and packs and packs of seaweed piled in the back of the car and sushi and cocktails aplenty piled on a table with friends and hot water with honey and lemon and all the coffee your lover brought you in the morning bitter espresso sweetened by hazelnut creamer and all the joints resting sick in your mouth and strawberries and pineapple and mango juice sticking to your lips and peaches dripping down your chin and the apricots from the farmstand and by then i hope you can remember the love and how it surrounds you and holds you and summer isnt even over yet but wasnt it all so sweet when it was something you could touch

Dinner For Ava
My girl treated me to a splendid day of mesmerising geothermal walks, taking the waters and being pampered at two different spas and a delicious dinner, her anniversary gift for me, and how I loved it! (Mine to her, was a sunset dinner cruise on a sailboat in Auckland; which she loved!) But my love language remains food, I think. Cooking (and mixing cocktails) for people who are dear to me brings me even more joy than when I'm "only" cooking for myself. So here's a Dinner For Ava, tipples and dishes I've made for her, or inspired by her! Feel free to pick anything you like on the menu and try your hand at it!

Tropical non-alcoholic cocktail of good King Moggle Mog XII

This one was fun! And a lot of work. It was also exactly what I needed after three days of being sick, kupo.
I don't have a pineapple corer that would have made this a million times easier. I was planning on doing three pineapple cups but gave up after two because my hand hurt from the cutting and scraping, kupo. Which was perfectly fine with me because the kids got their pineapple cups and I got a glass where I could see everything.
As usual I had to guess at proportions, and in this case, ingredients. Does the original drink include pineapple juice or just the pineapple cup? No idea, kupo. And because of my hacking and slashing technique I ended up with pineapple chunks that included the core and I wasn't about to spend my evening separating the two. So I just chucked the chunks into the blender, strained out the juice, and added it to everything else in a pitcher.
The fruit cocktail was the most baffling part of this recipe. It's entirely possible that the original recipe called for fruit punch or some other kind of mixed fruit drink only available in Japan. Were I to do this again, I would leave it out altogether because it didn't add much to the drink and it's not like you can suck up the fruit chunks even with a boba straw, kupo.
And the boba... well, I'd definitely do it differently next time. The brand that I used said you can make it ahead of time and store it in the fridge. I did that, added a little honey to keep things from clumping, and put it in the fridge overnight. The next day I had sad, mealy boba. So... maybe store it in water or make it fresh. Or leave it out, which is probably what I'll do in the future, kupo.
Verdict: It's guava, mango, and pineapple juice. It's yummy, kupo!
Source: https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Eorzea_Cafe

Difficulty: … | Yield: 1 serving
Ingredients:
3-4 whole pineapples (substitute 3 cups pineapple juice)
1 qt (1 L) guava nectar
1 qt (1 L) mango nectar
1 15 oz can lite fruit cocktail, undrained (optional)
Colorful tapioca boba, prepared (optional)
Instructions:
If using whole pineapples, cut out the middle to make cups. Put your pineapple chunks into a blender and blend until pureed. Strain juice through a mesh sieve into a bowl. Discard pulp.
Add guava and mango nectars into a large pitcher. Add fruit cocktail liquid if using. Stir to combine.
Add optional boba and fruit cocktail to pineapple cups or glasses. Add ice. Top with juice.

himalayan wild yak
🇳🇵 nepali
📍 brambleton town center, ashburn, virginia
📅 dinner; July 2023. 1st time

😋 overall: the centering of yak on their menu makes this nepali restaurant stand out. they don't fuck around with their spice combos!!! everything we tried had complex, interesting flavors that made me want to keep eating (except for the desserts, which were mid). I'd come back to try literally everything else on their menu
more food pix + detailed review under the cut!

🍹 mango lassi - tasted slightly more yogurt-y than mango-y, but a strong-enough mango flavor that I didn't complain upon 1st sip. I wouldn't mind getting it again
🍸 cocktail that I forgot the name of - they didn't put much alcohol in this but I forgive them because this was a delicious drink. i'd get it again!
🍹 zero-proof cocktail that had citrus in it - in love with this flavor combo. this was tangier than it was sweet in a way that made every sip interesting. i'd definitely get it again!

🥩 grilled yak (medium rare) - what a delicious cross-section. I can tell that yak is a tough meat, but the sous vide worked to make it tender. they seasoned this meat simply but effectively; it was a tasty bite. just 1 bite. lol between 5 ppl this appetiser portion was gone way too quickly!!
I would get the entree portion next time lmao

🥟 steamed buffalo momo - honestly I don't remember much about this dish but both the momo and the accompanying sauce were delicious. I don't remember the buffalo having a distinct taste tho 🤔 I was kinda afraid that the buffalo would be tough but then again it's steamed meat.
I'd get it again! I love dumplings lol I wanna try their veg ones next

🍛 spicy pork curry - man we fucked around and found out. this dish (labeled VERY SPICY tbf) HURT to eat a few bites in 🥵🥵🥵 I forgot the texture of the pork but I know it wasn't dry. I kept going back to the sauce even though it was spicy as hell (I felt like a masochist)
I wouldn't get this again cos i couldn't take the heat 😭 like you know when a dish is so spicy that you have trouble focusing on the actual flavors? and then the spiciness lingers in your mouth for a LONG TIME even when you eat other dishes? 😭😭😭
🐐🍚 [in the 1st photo] bone-in goat biryani - they are LYING when they say that it's for 2 because it easily fed our table of 5!!!!! they brought out a whole pot and mixed it right in front of us!!! i looooved the bits of burnt rice. the goat wasn't tough, the spice level was bearable (compared to the pork curry at least lmao), and the spices themselves were wonderfully warming in my mouth. we had like 1.5 portions of this as leftovers
I want this again but also I don't because I wanna try everything else on the menu and my stomach real estate is scarce 😔 what a dilemma
🧄🫓 [in the 1st photo] garlic naan - I'm conflicted whether or not i'd consider this dish as having a reasonable portion cos the slices were a good size but each piece was pretty thin. I definitely wanted more after my piece was gone 😆 the garlic was fragrant but I feel like they could've been heavier with it (but also i'm the type who puts 4x the recommended amount of garlic in recipes).
i'm a sucker for garlic naan. I'd get it again!

🍡 gulab jamun - lots of gulab jamun end up being a chore to eat because they're so soaked with their sugar syrup that they're overwhelmingly sweet. that wasn't the case with this dish tho (maybe that was also accomplished by using honey rather than sugar). as for the yogurt- I feel like it didn't add much to the dish other than being a light element to counteract the heaviness of gulab jamun.
I wouldn't get this again tho like it's not that interesting

🍮 kheer - this is prob the most fragrant rice pudding i've ever had. it's kinda lacking in the taste department tho 😔 slightly sour, in a good way, but not much else going on. it was refreshing to eat after the spicy entrees
I wouldn't get it again. this dessert also wasn't that interesting
-----
💲 price: we were definitely very full! I was surprised by how affordable the food was- each entree was less than $20 and each dessert was $4-5. considering that it's is like 1 of the only restaurants in the DMV that spotlights yak, they offered it at a much cheaper price point than I expected.
🗒️ other notes: this restaurant is COLD AF 🥶 also their space is so huge; I appreciated that they spread out their tables. land is cheap out there in ashburn I guess

A Guide to Cardamom: Types, Uses, and Flavor Pairings
Cardamom, also known as elaichi, is a fragrant spice that has been cherished for centuries in both culinary and medicinal traditions. Often referred to as the "Queen of Spices," cardamom’s aromatic, sweet, and slightly spicy flavor adds a unique touch to many dishes. In this guide, we will explore the types of cardamom, its versatile uses, and the best flavor pairings to enhance your culinary experience.

Types of Cardamom
There are two main types of cardamom: green cardamom and black cardamom. Each variety brings distinct flavors and benefits to the table.
Green Cardamom (Choti Elaichi) Green cardamom is the most commonly used type. It has a sweet, herbal flavor with hints of citrus and eucalyptus. Known for its versatility, green cardamom is used in both savory and sweet dishes across the world. Its delicate yet complex flavor makes it a key ingredient in teas, curries, and desserts.
Black Cardamom (Badi Elaichi) Black cardamom, on the other hand, is much larger and has a smoky, earthy flavor due to the way it is dried. Its robust aroma makes it ideal for heartier dishes, such as stews, meat curries, and rice dishes. It is not typically used in sweets, as its strong, smoky flavor can overpower delicate ingredients.
Uses of Cardamom
Cardamom, or elaichi, is a highly versatile spice, used in various cuisines around the globe. Here are some common ways to use cardamom:
Cooking and Baking Green cardamom is a staple in Indian, Middle Eastern, and Scandinavian cooking. It is commonly used to flavor rice dishes, such as biryanis and pulaos, as well as in baked goods like cakes, cookies, and pastries. The spice can be added whole, crushed, or ground, depending on the recipe.
Beverages Cardamom is an essential ingredient in chai tea, coffee, and spiced drinks like Turkish coffee. It adds warmth and depth to these beverages, enhancing their flavor profile. You can also steep a few cardamom pods in boiling water to make a soothing elaichi tea.
Medicinal Uses Cardamom has been used in traditional medicine to aid digestion, improve oral health, and boost metabolism. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it a popular remedy for common ailments like indigestion and sore throat.
Flavor Pairings with Cardamom
Pairing cardamom with the right ingredients can elevate your dishes to new heights. Here are some flavor pairings to consider:
Sweet Pairings Cardamom complements sweet ingredients beautifully. It works well with vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, making it a great addition to desserts like cakes, cookies, and ice creams. Pair it with honey or maple syrup for a rich, warm sweetness.
Savory Pairings In savory dishes, cardamom can be paired with cumin, coriander, ginger, and garlic. Its floral notes add a depth of flavor to curries, soups, and stews. It is also a great match with meats like lamb, chicken, and beef, especially in marinades and slow-cooked dishes.
Fruits and Beverages Cardamom pairs wonderfully with citrus fruits like oranges and lemons, as well as with tropical fruits like mango and pineapple. It’s also an ideal match for coffee, chai, and cocktails, where its warm, aromatic qualities can shine.
At Garni Foods, we recognize the value of high-quality spices in elevating culinary creations. Elaichi is no exception—its distinctive aroma and taste can transform simple dishes into gourmet experiences.
Conclusion
Whether you’re adding it to a savory curry, sweet dessert, or your morning cup of chai, cardamom (elaichi) is a versatile spice that brings a unique flavor to any dish. By understanding the types, uses, and flavor pairings of cardamom, you can make the most of this aromatic spice in your kitchen.

Cocktail Syrups: Essential Ingredients for Flavorful Drinks
Introduction to Syrups Syrups play an essential role in crafting flavorful cocktails. A cocktail syrups is simply a concentrated mixture of sugar and water or another liquid that is used to sweeten and add complexity to cocktails. Both homemade and commercial syrups come in a variety of flavors that can take drinks to the next level. Simple Syrup While various flavored syrups offer exciting options, simple syrup is the foundation. Simple syrup is made by combining equal parts sugar and water then heating them until dissolved. It keeps indefinitely in the fridge. Simple syrup balances the acidity in drinks and provides a smooth sweetness that allows other flavors to shine. Those looking to make syrups at home should start with a simple syrup to use as a base for infusions and mixes. Popular Flavored Cocktail Syrups Beyond simple syrup, numerous flavors are used to create exciting syrups for cocktails. Here are some of the most common: - Orange Syrup - Made from oranges, orange zest, and sugar, this bright citrus syrup adds complexity when paired with spirits like rum. Mango, pear, and banana syrups follow a similar process using their respective fruits. - Ginger Syrup - Created by steeping sliced ginger in simple Cocktail Syrups, ginger syrup provides heat and spice. It works well in tiki and Asian-inspired cocktails. - Honey Syrup - A honey simple syrup made by heating honey with water delivers floral notes. Honey balances herbal and spice components in drinks. - Spiced Syrups - Complex flavors emerge from adding aromatics like cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom or star anise to a simple syrup and letting the spices infuse over time. - Rich Syrups - Syrups made with rich sweeteners like maple syrup, brown sugar, or rich demerara sugar impart fuller, more complex flavors when used in drinks. Easy Homemade Cocktail Syrups With a little prep, impressive syrups for drinks can be easily made at home for a fraction of the store-bought cost. Simple syrup is the starting point, but steeping other additives creates infinite options. Here are a few syrup recipes to try: - Berry Syrup - Combine 1 cup fresh or frozen berries with 1 cup simple Cocktail Syrups in a pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes, mashing berries occasionally. Strain into jars. Blackberry, raspberry and blueberry are especially tasty. Get more insights on Cocktail Syrups

Sue Bee Pure Honey Relaunches With New Look and New Logo

Sue Bee Pure Honey, America's leading honey brand since 1921, recently unveiled the new look for its products during its Grand Relaunch held at the Grand Hyatt Manila in Bonifacio Global City. The delightful event captured the essence of a traditional American county fair which included games, cocktails, and indulgent dishes prepared using Sue Bee Honey.

The exclusive launch event was held last July 5, 2024 at the Grand Ballroom of Grand Hyatt Manila. Global Strategic Partners Distribution Inc. (GSPDI), the exclusive distributor of Sue Bee Honey in the Philippines since 2000, also presented the new look of Sue Bee Pure Honey, a look that is fresh, exciting, and designed to captivate a new generation of consumers and honey lovers.

The Sue Bee County Fair was hosted by Rovilson Fernandez, who also enlightened us with the history of the company. Sue Bee Honey's story began in 1921 in Sioux City, Iowa, when five beekeepers pooled their resources to form the Sioux Honey Association. Their collaboration has since grown into a cooperative of 200 beekeepers across the United States, many of whom have passed down their craft through generations. Today, the Sioux Honey Association is renowned for producing pure, high-quality 100% USA honey that customers around the world trust and love. GSPDI distributes various Sue Bee Honey variants, including Premium Pure Honey, Orange Blossom Pure Honey, and Aunt Sue’s Raw & Unfiltered Wildflower Honey.

The festive County Fair atmosphere was enhanced by lively music, traditional county fair games, and captivating entertainment, creating an unforgettable experience reminiscent of a classic American town festival.

I got to participate in some of the county fair games like the Crazy Ball Toss, the Bean Bag Toss, and even Tic-Tac-Toe. I also won prizes for winning some of the games.

Guests were treated to free-flowing beverages and cocktails infused with Sue Bee Honey. There was Honey Lemon Iced Tea and Honey Lemonade for the non-alcoholic drinkers as well as mocktails like Sunset in the City with honey, pineapple, lemon, and grenadine.

The cocktail selection included Bee's Knees with its combination of gin, honey, lemon, and martini. There was also the Air Mail which had rum, honey, lemon, and Prosecco, plus the Sue Green with its healthier combination of honey, green apple, cucumber, ginger ale in a highball glass.

Joining us at the table were our friends from the media including Anton Diaz of Our Awesome Planet, Gerry San Miguel aka Dude For Food, Philip Cu-unjieng from Manila Bulletin, and our host Sunny Ku of Mastermind Asia Communications Inc.

The launch featured an array of food stations serving traditional American dishes, each thoughtfully crafted to showcase the versatility and rich flavors of Sue Bee Honey. The Pizza station featured its Pepperoni Pizza and Quattro Formaggi Pizza slices which were perfectly topped with Sue Bee Pure Honey.

There were also plenty of Char-Grilled Beef Burgers made with Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, pickled gherkins and honey relish smothered between freshly baked brioche buns. You can also get the Chicken Burger instead if you prefer chicken patties.

I loved these Crispy Fish Fingers served together with French Fries. It really felt like an American town party with all the delicious American food.

My favorite dish at the Sue Bee Country Fair was the 78 Hours Slow Cooked Beef Brisket with bourbon honey barbecue sauce. These were smokey and juicy, just the way I like my barbecues. They were served with Char-Grilled Corn on the Cob with spiced cream cheese.

Another popular item was the Southern Style Honey Barbecue Char-Grilled Chicken in Skewers. It's so easy to grab and eat these skewers so I did go back for seconds.

Then there's the Mango Wood-Smoked Barbecue Pork Ribs in Cajun honey glaze which was the centerpiece of the buffet stations. These humungous ribs are doused in a very yummy Sue Bee honey glaze that is just perfect for them.

For desserts, guests were able to try several sweet treats like the Sue Bee Honey Yogurt Tart and the Sue Bee Honey Dalandan Cake.

Other desserts on the table included the Sue Bee Honey and Orange Cake and the Sue Bee Honey Florentine Cake. All these items were made using Sue Bee Pure Honey so they really tasted awesome.

Aside from all the food stations displayed at the County Fair, there were also some fun games played on stage for eager participants. There was an eating challenge where the fastest to finish their ribs and burger plate wins. A raffle was also held with several prizes awarded to lucky winners.
