You know, it would be amazing if Hollywood learned the right lesson from the success of Nimona. And finally, @ckret2, whose writing is sublimely in-character and just a delight to read - they're a great artist, as well! I simply Could Not resist drawing their Bill in this ridiculous incredible and very fashionable pink feather dress, even though he only briefly wears it in their fic, so I also did a little bonus doodle of him in his standard hoodie to make up for it. XD (Also, as far as I'm concerned, Bill and Mabel were both correct in that lime green accessories make the dress Much Better.)

Listen. A lot of John Silver meta posts are like 75% there. And the part that gets on my nerves is the *intent*

Assertations that this character is constantly purely calculating and self-aware and consciously scheming and in control are the things that really rub me the wrong way. It discards the strength of the performance and editing and script and the things that that performance indicates as far as expressing vulnerability or lowering the mask.

Does he still keep like five different layers up even while trying to lower two of them? Yeah, of course, we see that on screen.

But for me where a lot of these Silver takes fall short is failing to acknowledge that the character himself doesn't even realize that he's lying half the time because he's the best at lying to himself. And that it's self-defense mechanism and survival instinct and that it's just like breathing. It's a default state.

For many of these interactions, especially with Madi and Flint in s3 and s4, he often thinks he's being truthful.

Anyway, it would be good for people to keep in mind that John Silver is not actually a malicious super villain and is in fact a deeply traumatized and tragic figure.

It is actually crazy to me that all the way back in episode 6, Robbie planted the seed of that song his mother sang to him. How his recreation of it then was "slightly dissonant", and the version in 105 is one where the notes finally all fell into place. That deep connection to his family and backstory, in a context we wouldn't understand until years later? That's beautiful commitment to storytelling.

the difference in Percy's water healing power in the show vs the movie is actually kind of interesting because while subtle, in the show the water heals his injury and then his blood is washed away, but in the movie you can actually see the water push Percy's blood back inside his body as its healing him... and I cannot believe I'm saying this but I think I like the movie's depiction of this power more because of that???
