Kassandra and Eivor's dynamic reminds me of that scene in Dr. Who where Bill asks the Doctor why he still fights for humankind despite so many terrible humans, and he said something like, "In amongst 7 billion is someone like you. That's why I put up with the rest of them."

Eivor is that person for Kassandra, by being kind, Eivor reminds Kassandra why she is still going on her journey as the Keeper: a simple yet very human reason. I think up to the beginning of the crossover Kassandra just goes on because she has to, but she probably forgets the real reason to begin with: human connection and love and compassion; if you live that long in isolation, after all that loss, I think anyone would forget how to feel, you would likely go on but with a hollow heart. Sure there are seas of bad people to fight against and it is tiring at times, but this core human connection is what keeps Kassandra going for another millennia. I'm a sucker for this kinda human-reminding-a-god-what-emotions-are trope. (I say human because this is all Eivor).

And by meeting Kassandra, this encounter makes Eivor appreciate the connections she has with Randvi, all of her friends and family more. Kassandra shows Eivor that immortality, strength, and power (many of the rewards infinite knowledge promises) means everyone else is dead and you will always end up alone. This time the god teaches the human why their mundane daily connection is the most precious thing. Wisdom is knowing when infinite knowledge is just dust in the sand and what matters is the living people in front of you. "Everything else" is the accumulation of that wisdom.

Heyo y'all! I finally got around to creating this master list!

I'm on AO3 as Mizuka, and am the author of the Winter Light Verse.

Long story short, I had a worldbuilding concept, ended up with the Twilight/Life and Death fandom combo, threw out 98% of canon, and started a rewrite from scratch with totally different lore, history, vampire biology/society, and plot altogether. All while going full gay.

Celestial Murmurs in the Cosmic Ballet

Madoka beheld Homura with an otherworldly elegance. "Homura, can you discern? We find ourselves laying on the precipice of existence, where time's ultimate exhalation invites us into the cosmic clasp..."

Homura, wearied by the strands of time, queried, "Is this the tapestry of boundless despair, the zenith of our odyssey?"

Madoka responded serenely, "Indeed, Homura. Here, amid the stars shedding tears and the reverberations of our strife coursing through the cosmos, we discover the tranquility of eternity."

Eternity, Homura ruminated, a harsh mirage ensnaring her soul in an endless cycle. "I aimed to rescue you, yet the weight of time has crushed me."

Madoka spoke with a gentle cadence, "Homura, your heart, once ablaze with fervor, now flickers like a weary candle. But fret not, for in this cosmic twilight, shadows dissipate, leaving only light."

Homura's voice quivered, "Light, Madoka? I've traversed through interminable shadows, pursuing a path that leads only to more suffering. Is this my destiny?"

"No, Homura. Destiny is a gentle stream, and you, my dear companion, are its resilient current. You've shouldered the burdens of time with unwavering dedication."

With teary eyes, Homura murmured, "Dedication... a solitary sojourn through the corridors of time, yet here I stand, solitary and fatigued."

"You were never solitary, Homura. In every pulsation of your heart, I was present. A silent guardian, a spectral presence woven into the fabric of your struggles."

Homura conceded, "I sensed your presence, like a distant melody. But the pain, Madoka, it's etched into the very essence of my being."

"The pain is the vestige of a world entangled in its sorrows. Homura, unshackle the chains that bind you, for I am with you, always."

In desperation, Homura implored, "Don't depart, Madoka. Your radiance is the sole comfort in this unending night."

"I am not departing, Homura. I am metamorphosing into a segment of the cosmic symphony, a melody that tenderly grazes the universe."

Amid sobs, Homura confessed, "I cannot bear to lose you, Madoka. The void in your absence is a chasm too vast."

"Embrace the void, dear Homura, for within it, you will discover the fragments of our shared expedition. I am the gentle zephyr, the iridescent starlight."

Clinging to the fading essence, Homura entreated, "Madoka, stay. I cannot confront the abyss on my own."

"You are not alone, Homura. My essence is interwoven into the cosmic tapestry, a serenade echoing in the silent alcoves of your heart."

As Madoka's ethereal presence dissolved into the cosmic tapestry, Homura was left with profound emptiness, yet a whisper of solace. The celestial dance persisted, and Homura, burdened but enduring, began to perceive the tender embrace of a universe forever marked by the essence of a pure and enigmatic angel.

symphony x is really good! especially their stuff from the early 2000s! v: the new mythology suite is a great concept album by them about the story of atlantis that is wonderful to listen to in one sitting. it’s a symphonic prog metal album that uses a LOT of classical elements.

the final track to their odyssey album is also really good, and is 25 minutes long, so it’s a great time killer

ghost reveries by opeth also remains one of my favourite albums of all time! i generally don’t like growling and death metal, but the way this album paces itself and tactfully mixes out the death metal with softer prog rock makes it incredible to listen to

at the gates of oblivion by the dark moor really fucks too! it’s got a really pretty style of symphonic power metal that uses a lot of like. brighter sounding instruments? listening to it makes me think of stars :)
