The feminine urge to run away to France with the love of your life and spend the rest of your life being a housewife in a cute cottage frolicking around fields of flowers like a Disney princess.

La perspective de pouvoir me désolidariser encore de quelques-unes des valeurs qui prétendent unir tant bien que mal cette humanité en déroute est l'un des plaisirs qui me tiennent en vie.

January 2024: Gardening On YouTube
This isn't a comprehensive list of the gardeners/homesteaders that my queen & I regularly watch on YouTube but I can recommend these:
A word of caution & recommendation regarding gardening channels on YouTube. The folks listed above are normal BUT the gardener/homesteader community on YouTube butts up against & mingles sometimes with the tinfoil hat elements of the prepper community. My advice is sometimes the tinfoil hat folks have good gardening advice so don't dismiss it just because they think that adding trace nutrients to your garden is beneficial not just because it is good for your tomatoes but because it helps to defeat our reptilian alien overlords. Take this bit of wisdom from a man who was born & raised in the Southern United States - Not everything a fool says is foolishness. It just doesn't make sense to people who presumably have more sense than they do. The deep root of wisdom is to discern the difference.

Two more chronically underdrawn characters (at least in recent years), Asiago and Iota! I haven't drawn a lot of Iota since he appeared in Heroes of Thantopolis. He and Asiago are characters in a story called Homestead Ghosts, which proceeded HoT and helped establish a lot of the ghost rules.

someone posted about a "homesteading" conference specifically for women that was happening near me and i was genuinely interested bc i just like to learn about practical skills like that, growing food, building shit, etc. Usually those kinds of events are super male dominated and there's always some kind of conspiracy or political twist, like "preparing for the apocalypse after COVID vaccines have turned the entire population into zombies" or w/e so I don't really go to many.
so I put my name on the list for more info and found out today that only one part of the conference is exclusively for women and that's a "homemaking panel" 😒😒😒. and I'm not opposed to learning practical home skills at all but the byline of the info packet said "the American family is under attack" so unfortunately I think that's gonna be a hard pass

DIY carpet cleaner
Well this was a project from yesterday. Needed to get the carpets done asap and it's a week till payday. One of my chickens had a runin with the dogs that made her quite sick. Lessons learned all around but now to clean up. Not to mention this stuff is a bit teuer. Glad to say that it does seem to work well as long as you keep the bubbles down.

Saw the Skyrim post. How do you like to play it? (Race, build, typical play style)
Y'all are gonna think I'm nuts, but overwhelmingly my builds always tend towards Crafter and homsteader. Almost my entire focus is on getting ore, soul gems, and ingredients. I buy a house with greenhouse or garden options ASAP. I quest for rare ingredients, mines, and souls, not for glory. Typically my main combat ability comes from the gear, not the skills. Every fight starts with me polishing off a dozen potions and poisoning my weapon, which is usually just a dagger with some kind of bonkers ass enchantment.
Usually I'll have some build on top of that. Often it's sneak-thief (archery not allowed) that uses fortify sneak, muffle, and invisibility items to get around. This time I'm doing spellsword though.
Also, my house is a bigger priority than anything else. Hearthfire is my favorite DLC.
