NEW YORK (Reuters) - For John Bohnsack, it was a classic parental dilemma: Get a small, expensive house in a high-quality school district, or pay less and get more house in a worse neighborhood.

His two girls, 5 and 8, are thriving. “It comes down to your values: Is it worth it?” said Bohnsack, who estimates their monthly payment is about 10% higher than it would be for comparable homes in lower-performing school districts nearby. The choice is not an easy one, but it is common across the United States. A whopping 58% of parents admit they are paying more for rent or their mortgage to be in a good school district, according to the latest “Parents, Kids & Money” survey by Baltimore money managers T. Rowe Price. “People recognize that there is a trade-off involved,” said Stuart Ritter, senior financial planner with T. Rowe Price. “School zone is important, but at the same time, it has to be integrated with other financial goals too.” Getting into a good school zone affected 42% of families’ finances to a “considerable” degree, the T. Rowe Price survey found, while 20% said it was more like an “extreme” amount. That takes away from other necessities like funding retirement or the kids’ college fund. For parents, the trick is to strike the right balance. Some tips: * Research school quality. The rankings site Niche.com puts out a report of best national school districts (here). Its top performers in 2019: Jericho, New York, Solon, Ohio, and West Lafayette, Indiana. At the site GreatSchools.org, parents can crunch the numbers to discover which schools may be a good fit. Beyond general rankings, you can add your own screens for factors that are critical to you. You may be most concerned with student-teacher ratio, graduation rates or special-needs services, so drill down into what matters most. Then follow up with in-person work, suggests GreatSchools spokesperson Carrie Goux. Visit on-site, talk to other parents and read reviews, all of which give you valuable insights that numbers may not. * Compare with housing prices. The real estate site HomeUnion went a step further and combined affordable zip codes with the best public schools around the country. Its nationwide winners for 2017 were: Blue Springs, Missouri; Tuttle, Oklahoma; Fenton, Missouri and Boca Raton, Florida - all of which offer average single-family housing prices under $200,000. For average home prices in your local zip codes, check out sites like Zillow.com or Trulia.com. * Think outside the box. If a particular school district is terrific but it’s just too expensive to live in, then you may need to look at other options. High-performing kids may test into schools that are outside of their home districts, for instance. You may also make the determination that it is cheaper to live in a more affordable neighborhood, but then look at charter-school options or pay for a private education. Average annual K-12 private-school tuition for 2018-19 is $10,671, according to the site Private School Review. It’s $9,631 for elementary school, and $14,575 for high school. Over 12 years, if the differential in house prices is more than $150,000, it might be worth it. * Keep your head. Realize that if you are paying more to get into a good school district, that gives you less financial flexibility, and you will likely have to cut back in other areas. In the T. Each week, Criswell Chevrolet’s Mike Furman delivers new Corvette Stingrays, Grand Sports, Z06s and ZR1s to his customers who come from all parts of the country to work with the nation’s top individual Corvette seller.

In this week’s post, Mike shares the deliveries of several out of town customers. A new Elkhart Lake Blue Corvette was sold to a customer in California who flew to the east coast to pick up their car and are driving it cross country back home. Sounds like a great road trip!! A Florida customer had his new Grand Sport shipped directly to his door in Miami as did a customer in Oklahoma who took delivery of a new Elkhart Lake Blue Z06. ~I’m not sure what triggered it but I must have received 25 emails this week asking pretty much the same question…What’s the most Corvettes that I have delivered in a month? The answer is *61 that I got credited with in the month of October 2013…but with a * just like Roger Maris…as my General Sales Manager at the time took 5 of my Corvette deliveries that were getting delivered on Oct 1st and reported them to Chevrolet for Sept 30th to pump up September’s numbers…or else it would have been 66. I recently found my monthly delivery notes which confirmed what I had remembered… 486 in a year.

~Now on to some really exciting news…Todd of Spring Mountain and I have been talking about doing a Furman customer ZR1 Corvette driving experience and this past Friday morning we chose the dates of March 11th/12th 2019. So I get to meet up with 12 of my ZR1 customers and experience the ZR1 driving school at Ron Fellows Spring Mountain Race Track in Pahrump, Nevada. I’ve been there three times in the last year but this will be my first time with a ZR1 class of my clients. I believe the session sold out on Friday. So stay tuned for March as I will have some great pictures and I will try to put in to words how great this Corvette event truly is.

~LONG Distance award goes to Gary and Diane T. of Morgan Hill, California…they could have ordered their new 2019 GS Z07 Corvette over the phone but this is Gary’s Dream “first”Corvette so he and his wife made an appt months ago to fly in and see what Elkhart Lake Blue looks like in person…they flew in Friday, ordered their new Corvette Saturday and are now in route flying back to California today. Two of the nicest people you’d ever want to meet and I’m certainly glad they visited me from 2,850 miles away!

~Len B. Of Aventura, Florida heard of me thru the internet so he placed his Factory order with me 7 weeks ago. We did all paperwork thru Fed Ex and his new 2019 Race Yellow Corvette Grand Sport Convt Has been enclosed shipped South to his Miami home. I spoke with him yesterday and he is over the moon happy with his new Corvette. Equipment list includes: Kalahari micro fiber seat insert interior, yellow calipers, 7 Spd manual trans, 2LT Pkg, and Kalahari top.

~John M. Of Miami, Oklahoma gave me a call 7 weeks ago as he had heard about me thru various Corvette channels. John placed his factory order for an Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic 2019 Z06 Cpe with Jet Black interior. Equipment list includes: Visible CF hood insert, VIsible CF ground effects, chrome badge Pkg, CF Instrument panel, yellow calipers, 7 spd manual transmission, 10 spoke Blade Pearl Wheels, Nav/PDR, Z06 cargo mat, 2LZ Pkg and the exposed carbon fiber rear spoiler option code 5V5. All the paperwork was completed via Fed Ex and Plycar Trucking shipped it to John’s home in Oklahoma. Received and email yesterday and John was gushing at how great his new Corvette looks with the options he chose.

~Gene And Janet F. Of Monteagle, Tennessee called me two weeks ago and picked out of stock this Admiral Blue 2019 Corvette Stingray Convt. This is Gene’s 3rd Corvette. Back in 2007 he watched his C6 get built(see pic). This 19 Stingray Convt has two tone Gray/Black interior with black top, Auto transmission, Performance exhaust, 2LT Pkg, Z51 spoiler and the ultra cool Motorsports Polished aluminum wheels. Gene and Janet flew in Monday eve and stayed outside Baltimore with their daughter and drove home, 650 happy miles. We all had fun on delivery day.

~Steven P. Of Leesburg, Virginia last ordered a White 2015 Corvette from me and this time Steve placed his order for a 2019 Silver Z06 Convt! Wednesday afternoon his new Corvette arrived and Thursday at 11am he was at Criswell and ready to drive it home across the Potomac River. Steve ordered his Silver Z06 with Adrenaline Red interior, Black top, dual black racing stripes, Black Wheels, Auto transmission, CF painted mirrors and much more. In 3 years I sense there will be a C8 Factory order!

~Paul C. Of West Lafayette, Indiana had read about me on the various Forums and really wanted to meet with me in person and see my inventory at Criswell. 8 weeks ago he got in his vehicle and drove 650 miles to Maryland and we walked our 100+ Corvette inventory and in the end we spec’d out together his 2019 Corvette Grand Sport Cpe order for Corvette Museum delivery in Bowling Green, Kentucky…which occurred Friday!! Paul chose Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic with Spice Red interior which I think looks Dynamite! Equipment list: Visible Carbon fiber hood insert, Visible carbon fiber roof panel, 7 spd manual transmission, chrome wheels, CF painted mirrors, Z07 Performance Pkg and 3LT Pkg. This Corvette is a Show all in itself.

~Some others that left the yard…Rich and Amy C. Of Hagerstown, MD have been buying Corvettes and trucks from me since 2005. Just a few months ago they took delivery of a new Orange Grand Sport Cpe…which started the wheels in motion for an Orange JEep Wrangler. So Amy picked out the options and the order was placed. This past week they traded in their 2017 Tahoe and drove home their new 2018 Wrangler unlimited Sahara.

~Mark G. Of NorthEast, Maryland was referred to me by a Corvette customer in Delaware. Mark called me up 7 weeks ago to place his Factory order for a 2019 ZL1 Camaro Cpe with close 650HP! Red Hot paint with Black interior and red accents. 10 spd Auto transmission and Navigation were the options Mark chose. Marks first new car was a 1985 Camaro IROC Z! Check out the pics.

Two limited edition MetroCards designed by Barbara Kruger were distributed by the Metropolitan Transit Authority. The cards are available at four New York City subway stations — Queensboro Plaza, Broadway-Lafayette Street, East Broadway, and the 116th Street B/C station — and were commissioned as part of the artist’s contribution to Performa 17.

A number of art galleries and dealers, including Hauser & Wirth, Thomas Dane, Laura Bartlett, and Simon Lee, were victims of an online crime wave involving the hacking of gallery email accounts. Impersonating both dealers and clients, hackers perpetrated a scam in which they would receive payments for art sales.

Over 5,000 women, trans people, and non-gender conforming artists, educators, and arts administrators signed an open letter “calling upon art institutions, boards, and peers to consider their role in the perpetuation of different levels of sexual inequity and abuse, and how they plan to handle these issues in the future.” The signature list has been temporarily closed due to overwhelming demand.

Artforum‘s contributing editors published a statement condemning the publishers’ response to “the allegation of Knight Landesman’s sexual misconduct.” The statement followed an open letter signed by a number of Artforum and Bookforum staff to “repudiate the statements that have been issued to represent us so far.” Landesman resigned as the magazine’s co-publisher last week, hours after curator Amanda Schmitt filed a lawsuit accusing him of groping and sexually harassing nine women.

Actors and former staff accused the The Old Vic theater of turning a blind eye to inappropriate sexual behavior by Kevin Spacey. The actor, who served as the theatre’s artistic director between 2003 and 2015 issued a statement on Monday after actor Anthony Rapp accused him of sexual harassment.

The Archaeological Institute of America issued a statement outlining its objection to the The National Monument Creation and Protection Act (H.R. 3990).

Two photographs, reportedly worth an estimated $100,000,  were stolen from MoMA PS1. The institution’s director, Klaus Biesenbach, noticed that the works were missing when he arrived at the museum on Monday, October 30. The identity of the works has not been disclosed.

The portrait, which was discovered with the use X-ray analysis, was likely painted over in the wake of Mary’s execution in 1567.
