Dreamin’ about cowboys
Tumblr media
Tyler Owens / Reader(Female) cw: SMUT 18+, FLUFF, domestic, pregnancy. a.n: no joke after I came home from watching the new twisters movie I took a nap and had one of the most vivid dreams about being pregnant on a cute cottage/farmhouse while being cuddled by Glen Powell/Tyler Owens. So uh, that’s the main inspo for this, give thanks to my weird but amazing subconsciousness.
*not edited, sorry for any mistakes*
Tumblr media
The warm rays of sunlight kept you comfortably cozy while you sat in a rocking chair on your front porch, nursing some homemade sweet tea. And there making his way to you was your handsome cowboy. Cheeks flushed from the rush of adrenaline he’d gotten while chasing his latest tornado. Signature smile across his face as he quickly made his way up the steps of your beautiful home.
With a bit of difficulty you’re able to get up and meet him halfway. Strong and familiar arms wrap themselves around you, Tyler’s stubble tickling your neck as he buries himself into your embrace. “Missed you, how’re my girls doin’” pulling away, Tyler’s warm and calloused hand gently cups your rounded stomach, softly caressing the bump.
“Oh you know, constantly hungry for the weirdest of things and aching in places I didn’t know I could ache in.” Your words elicit a laugh out of the cowboy. “But besides all of that, we're good. Just missed you.” Reaching a hand up to his stubbly cheek pressing a kiss to his warm skin. One of his hands linger on the small of your back while the other pushes a rebellious piece of hair behind your ear, gently cupping your cheek. Leaning down to you, lips meeting your own. Your heart flutters within your chest, no matter how many times you kissed it still felt like your first time. Mouths dancing together, your hands reach up to tug on his soft wind tussled hair. A soft groan rumbles from within his chest, and as your kisses deepen Tyler is quickly lifting you off your feet so effortlessly.
House memorized like the back of his hand, he makes his way to your shared bedroom. Setting you down with the utmost care on the plush comforter below. Pulling away from your mouth, you watch as Tyler leans back a stares at you. Jade green eyes roam over your figure, "God its like you get more and more beautiful everyday." His words are nothing but honest, full of adoration for you. You feel your cheeks blush at his words, upon seeing your pink cheeks a mischievous smirk makes its way onto his gorgeous face. Rough hands caress your body's newfound curves making their way to the front of your simple milkmaid dress. Undoing the little bow keeping your breasts from spilling out.
The soft fabric gives way and is pushed aside by Tyler's hands, leaning back down he kisses every inch of skin within reach. Leaving behind little love bites for you to admire in the mirror tomorrow morning. Making his way up your chest, to your neck then taking your sweet lips back to his. His hands continue to lovingly massage your sides, paying extra attention to your hips that spend all day holding and cradling your baby girl.
One hand wonders downward, going underneath the skirt of your dress going right where you need him most. Pulling off your panties, throwing them over the side of the bed. A whimper tumbles from your kiss swollen lips as Tyler begins to swirl your clit, fingers gathering your embarrassing amount of slick. Then he is sinking a finger inside, then two. Your left hand tangles into the comforter while your other tightly grips onto Tyler's arm that still dutifully holding onto your waist.
"Tyler, I need you." you can't help the desperation within your voice. "I know baby, but I gotta stretch you out first." a needy whine leaves you at his words, a pout forming onto your lips. And its takes everything within Tyler to not immediately give into you. But it wouldn't be long before he'd have you moaning and panting out his name as he gave you everything you wanted.
Fingers rubbing up against your sensitive walls, curling up perfectly to hit the one spot within you that has you keening out in pleasure. A soft groan leaves Tyler as your walls clamp down upon his fingers, a telltale sign that you were close. "Come on baby, need you to cum around my fingers. Then I'm all yours." Voice husky with strained lust.
Tyler watches with rapt attention as your hips grind down onto his hand, fingers going in and out of your pretty cunt. The noises from your squelching cunt fills the air around you, accompanied by your breathy moans and Tyler's muffled groans. You feel that all too familiar heat creeping down your spine, twisting that metaphorical ball of pleasure that sits so heavily down past your navel. Then not a moment later are you baring down upon Tyler's fingers cunt clenching rhythmically around him as he continues to fuck his fingers into your spasming cunt.
Tyler watches as your breathing slowly evens out as your come down from your high, then he's slowly pulling his fingers from you. Then he's tearing off his clothes carelessly discarding them to the side, with nothing left to take off he helps you out of your dress. Crawling up to where his face is right above yours, muscled arms boxing in your head. You can feel his body heat radiating off of him, shielding you from the chill from your bedroom.
"Ty please."
"I know baby, I know."
Green eyes watch as his precum covered cock, sinks into you. Eyes rolling back into his head at the euphoric feeling of your warm and wet cunt that welcomes him so perfectly. Hips picking up into a deep and measured pace, perfect for pushing those heavenly moans from your lips while also giving just the right amount of pleasure to both of you. Your hands abandon the comforter to latch onto Tyler's strong back, relishing in the warmth he brings as you fingers feel his muscles tighten beneath your palms. Tyler lets his head fall to rest right beside your ear, filling your head with his filthy words and noises.
"Always take me so well."
"Just like that baby."
"Fuck, baby can you hear just how wet you are?"
Each husky phrase that tumbles from his mouth has you arching your back up into him, legs wrapping tightly around his waist. With every thrust in and out of you, your cunt squeezes down on him trying to keep him in. Your sweet sounds of pleasure ring through Tyler's ears, lighting a trail of white hot pleasure down his spine leading down towards his heavy balls that are just begging to fill you up. As if you weren't already pregnant, if Tyler could he'd get you pregnant again. Seeing you so beautiful with your belly swollen with your baby had lit an insatiable fire within him that would probably never be snuffed out. You were always breathtakingly gorgeous but when you had gotten pregnant it was game over, Tyler didn't know you could get more stunning and yet you always prove him wrong.
"Ty- I'm close." a moan interrupts your words halfway through saying them, but good thing Tyler knew your body just as well as you and could already feel your cunt getting tighter and tighter as you neared your second orgasm of the night. "I'm right there with you." rushing his words out as he groans out as you tighten up again around him. One of Tylers hands leaves its spot beside your head quickly bringing it down to swirl your clit, not a moment later are you falling in bliss as you cum hard around Tyler's still pistoning cock. A waterfall of curses leaves Tyler as feels himself swell then cum just right behind you. Warmth fills your lower belly as Tyler continues to slowly grind into you, riding out both of your highs, eventually coming to a stop.
Your eyes hazy with leftover pleasure watch as Tylers sculpted body rises, watching him watch as his spend dribbles out of you as he pulls his softening cock from you. Pupils blown wide as a hearty groan fills the space around you both. The vision in front of him is seared into his mind, and he'd make sure of it. His eyes take in you flushed face that traveled to the tops of your swollen breasts, kiss bitten skin, tussled hair, you were a fuckin vision he'd spend the rest of his life admiring.
Giving you a sweet kiss, he announces that he's going to the bathroom. A little while later does he come back with a warm wash cloth, with gentle hands does he wipe you down. Getting you comfortable in bed, he grabs one of his large pj shirts for you and a pair of boxers for himself. Grabbing you, Tyler tucks you beneath his chin as your face rest against his chest. Sleep quickly lulls you both under, as the moon rise higher into the night sky.
As the sun peaks above the horizon are you waking up, your little one seeming hellbent on rising along with the sun. Shuffling with sleepiness still clinging to you, you head to the bathroom then back into your bedroom. Pulling on some panties and a loose pair of shorts, muffling a laugh at the utter disarray you and Tyler left behind last night. Somehow your cowboys boxers had ended up hanging off your vanity, deciding to just leave it there, knowing that when he woke up he'd get a good laugh out of it.
With soft footsteps you head towards the kitchen, prepping up a cup of warm tea. Something you've had to switch to while being pregnant, no coffee until after giving birth. Once the your warm cup is in your hands do you head out back to your couch swing that Tyler had set up last spring. Settling down into the soft cushions, watching as the sun begins to rise higher and higher above the horizon. When you're halfway done with your cup do you hear Tylers footsteps making their way to you. Turning your head, you can't help the wide smile that pulls at your cheeks. Tylers hair looks like a tornado has hit it, clad in some baggy sweatpants. "Good mornin'." his voice is still husky with sleep, "Good morning." Your eyes follow him has he sits down next to you, then he's pulling you into his lap wrapping you up in his embrace. Snuggling deeper into his warmth, you both sit in the quiet of the early morning watching as the sun announces to the world that a new day has started. And you wouldn't wanna be anywhere but right here in your home with the man that you love with all your being right next you. With a warm and protective hand caressing your baby pump, your daughter fluttering beneath the familiar hand of her daddy.

how about then
Tumblr media
pairing: arthur hill x fem!reader
summary: an insecure admirer with not-so-discreet habits and a pretty barista who he doesn’t realise notices most of his visits.
cw: stalker-ish tendencies, fear of rejection, self-conscious thoughts, second-hand embarrassment. no use of y/n, lowercase intended.
word count: 1.7k
he watches, unashamed, yet teetering on the edge of not wanting to be seen.
welcoming eyes as you greet each customer, a peek at the pink of your tongue as you cautiously try to pronounce names you’re unfamiliar with, soft smiles on the curve on your lips when you ask them to take a seat until their order is ready. almost everyday, it’s the same.
arthur sits alone, illuminated by the bright light of his open laptop screen, surrounded by remnants of food belonging to whoever sat down before him. today it’s a half-drank camomile tea, crumbs of a pastry flaked on the coffee table instead of the dark green plate it was served on, and the smallest jar of honey. he hasn’t ordered yet.
he rarely ever orders.
opting to exist amongst the casual murmur of blurred conversation flickering in the background of the obvious humming from the espresso machine and occasional clinks of silverware. the sound of ceramic smashing is out of place in the familiarity of the café.
he jumps slightly on the worn, cherry red sofa, his stare moves from the softness of your lips, to the sudden shock in your wide eyes, and then to the homemade mug lying on the tiled floor in a disarray of pieces. it’s silent for a moment, everyone glancing to the source of the noise, before immersing themselves back into whatever they were doing.
you look around, embarrassed that you’d been spotted knelt down in the midst of the shards, but grateful that no one’s wandering eyes have stuck on you. then they meet his and your face warms, turning the same colour as the sofa he hasn’t moved from.
he looks away like he hasn’t already been caught.
his gaze shifts to his screen for the first time since he’s sat down, feigning oblivion, but his own face is burning. reminded of the day his earphones disconnected and everyone heard. regardless, you don’t know what he’s thinking and the snippet of the song you picked up hasn’t left your memory.
you gather the pieces, careful not to pierce your skin with the jagged edges of the shattered ceramic. you’re used to the occasional accident, and maybe the feeling of his eyes on you, but not when you know he’s trying not to look.
you stand up, brushing off the dust of sugar from your apron and make your way to the counter, trying to ignore the heat in your cheeks. your mind races with the possibilities of what he might think. you’ve never exchanged more than a few words, but you’re left reeling from the clumsiness.
the café’s buzz is usually a form of comfort, but today it feels like it’s wrapping too tightly around you, suffocating any attempts at ease. you take a deep breath and force another smile, hoping to convince yourself more than anyone else that you’re fine.
you’re not all that surprised that lina, your co-worker and friend, can see right through it.
“another day, some more shy guy?” she says with a knowing smirk and a sideways glance, typing in the customer’s total on the coffee shop’s card machine.
you roll your eyes at her playfully, trying to shrug it off as you toss the broken mug into the bin. “ what are you talking about?” you ask, feigning ignorance.
lina’s smirk widens. “oh come off it, i’ve seen the way you blush every time he walks in. you think i’m blind?”
you laugh. a bit too loudly, and unfortunately unconvincingly, busying yourself with wiping down the counter. “i don’t know what you’re talking about, i’m just doing my job.”
she arches an eyebrow, but lets it go, turning back to the customer with a professional smile. as they leave, she leans closer to you. “i’m just saying, maybe you should talk to him, or at least serve him something other than the usual eye candy and awkward glances. he’s obviously into you, and you can’t tell me you don’t feel the same way. that blush gives you away every time.”
you feel the heat she’s referring to rise again, and you can’t argue with her. she’s known you since school, and she’s always had a knack for reading you like an open book. but talking to him? that’s easier said than done. you’ve built this invisible barricade around the both of you, a silent dance of glances and unspoken curiosity, one you’re afraid of bulldozing through with the wrong thing.
you start to shake your head again, parting your lips, but before you can get a word out lina’s already began. “if you don’t want to listen to what i’m trying to tell you, i can’t make you. but make me a promise, alright?”
her eyes are so intense, so serious, that you nod without really understanding what you’re agreeing to. “what?” you ask, curiosity piqued despite your skepticism.
lina’s grin is swift and mischievous. “promise me you’ll finally talk to him before he leaves today. ask him his name, or what he’s working on, or why he’s always here when you are. anything, just break the weird-awkward tension you guys have going on, okay?”
you sigh, feeling the weight of her stare. she’s relentless when she’s made up her mind about something. “fine, i’ll try,” you concede, hoping she’ll drop it.
lina’s eyes light up with excitement. “yes, you will!” she says, clapping her hands together. “and i’m going to hold you to that promise because i’ve got to head out, so it’s just you and him for closing tonight. no excuses!” she winks before undoing her apron and disappearing through the back door, leaving you alone with your nerves and your jaw slack.
Tumblr media
she was right. it was just you and him for closing. the last of the customers leaving close to an hour ago once you’d flipped the sign hanging on the door.
just you and him. him hitting keys on his laptop and oblivious to set of eyes on him that would stray if he looked up. the light of his screen reflecting off his skin, highlighting the length of his fringe and strands of hair that poked at his eyebrows. you wondered what he saw when he looked at you, something pretty enough to make him stay?
his posture was rigid, slumped over the keyboard like he was about to fall asleep. lina’s words kept replaying in your head at the sight, stuck in your own mind like the residue of a spilled sugary drink on the countertop.
you took a deep breath, trying to swallow any reservation you held that what you were thinking about may go south and replace it with something positive — you might finally learn the hazel-eyed stranger’s name.
“hi, sorry, but we’re closing soon,” you started, an apologetic smile curving your lips. a slightly damp cloth in your hand and your other adjusting the notepad in your waist band, “is there anything else i can get you before..” you trailed off, entirely too distracted by how intensely he was staring at you. unexpected and unwavering.
he shook his head, waves of hair shaking like his nerves, clammy palms wiped on the thigh of his trousers. “uh- no. i think i’m set.”
if you thought you were disappointed with his answer, you deflated at how quickly he shut his laptop. you nodded, dejectedly, offering one last smile that didn’t reach your eyes and turned. silently criticising the tone of your voice, speed of your speech and about everything else you could nit pick.
your steps were light, but they felt as if you were being weighed down by every single thread of rejection that had stitched you into a version of yourself that shook at the first shake of someone’s head. you sighed, removing the last of the food from the glass display case and decided to try again.
“are you sure? if not, these will just go to waste and not to brag or anything, but these are our best.”
“how is that bragging?”
“i made them!” you informed defensively.
he laughed, eyes bright. “well, in that case-“
you cheer excitedly, clapping your hands underneath your chin. placing the dessert you’d perfected into a small to-go box, “so, what are you always working on?”
he looked taken aback at your question, stuttering out a ramble of words into a sentence that you didn’t think made any sense. you’d noticed his presence before today and now it was his turn to turn cherry red. “i make music.”
“oh?“ it’s all you pick up as you abandon the tongs on your worktop. “are you a dj?”
“god, no!” he laughs again, disbelief bleeding through his bashful attempt at telling you about his work. “i guess it’s more like pop, but not really.”
your eyes widen, “no way! is it serious? your livelihood depending on it type of stuff?”
“sort of.” he shrugs half-heartedly, diverting his attention to the curled corners of peeling stickers on his closed laptop, and you decide not to ask anymore questions. confusing his inability to answer honestly with discomfort. you’re mentally scolding yourself for being the cause while arthur’s wondering if being a content creator is as off-putting as it sounds in his head. “can i get a drink too?”
“i thought you didn’t want anything.” it’s light-hearted, teasing. something so fittingly sweet it’s almost sickly when he blushes again.
“might as well,” he reasons when he gives his order, not that you minded. it’s more money for the cafe — not that you’ll end up charging him — and selfishly, an excuse for him to stay maybe two or three minutes more.
you agree and as your about to reach for a disposable cup, you pause. “iced?”
he hasn’t made the connection that you have, absentmindedly bobbing his head in tune of the tick of the clock on the far wall. admiring you as you work.
you’re reluctant to maintain the speed you’re used to. dragging out the seconds left until his drink is finished and he can finally leave. hoping he doesn’t notice your hesitance at every step, dreading that you’re at the last one when you uncap the marker.
then he’s at the counter and out the door with the exchange of a smile, the graze and burn of your skin against his now ink stained fingertips. smudged numbers and a name branding the transparent plastic and his mind.
you suppose you did learn his name.

Summary: Imagine sharing mooncake with Miguel under the moonlight
Tumblr media Tumblr media

It was that time of the year again. You made sure to google around September so you never miss the date since it always changed every year according to the lunar calendar, even if the date was usually towards the end of the month. The Autumn Moon or Mid-Autumn Festival. You were disheartened when Miguel assigned you yet another hard anomaly mission for the 4th time in a row with him that you just finished, without so much of a proper break. It was a blessing and a curse. It meant he had immense amount of trust in you along with great approval. (Something you secretly craved) But it was beginning to take a toll on you, as you were beginning to miss your family. You won't be home to celebrate with them with all the work that you do for the Spider Society.
For Miguel.
You were in the middle of your thoughts when you were approached by some of the other Chinese and Chinese-American Spider variants who came up to ask your plans for the holiday. You all chatted for awhile and some were discussing how they were part of the Mid-Autumn Festival like lion dancing or helping their family's vendor in their home universes. Some variants were still teenagers who were volunteers to guide the traffic. Some of the older variants shared their homemade mooncake and gifted you some snacks.
That gave you an idea.
If you couldn't go home to spend the holiday with your family, then you could bring the holiday to Miguel. It's not like he knew about the Mid-Autumn Festival, so perhaps a fun cultural exchange could eliviate some of the stress you were put on.
You told Lyla you would be right back, and quickly left HQ for Nueva York's Chinatown to pick up your favorite brand and type of mooncake: the traditional one with lotus paste with salted duck yolk...though you also picked up a box without the yolk just in case Miguel didn't like it, and also another box of assorted flavored snow skin mooncakes from the freezer section if he just couldn't handle traditional mooncakes as well. You decided to go with your favorite to stay true to yourself since it wasn’t economic to buy all three boxes. You left the other two back on the shelf before checking out.
You also picked up jasmine green tea (your personal favorite) on the way. You went into the cafeteria, and asked the kitchen crew to let you brew the tea, which they happily allowed. You gave them one of the mooncakes you bought (a box has 4 mooncakes typically), and taught them what it was and what it was for. Safe to say they were not the biggest fans, but that was no surprise to you. You were used to it, but there was only one person's opinion you cared about.
Your heart skipped a beat in anticipation and nervousness of what he would think of the mooncake. Would he like it? Hate it? Would he even care?
You slowly approached Miguel's office where his super high platform resided in. To no one's surprise, he was up there working for who knows what, for who knows how long. Almost as he anticipated for your return, he turned around, and cocked an eyebrow at the bag of the metal tin box and thermos you were carrying.
"What's all this?" Miguel lowered his platform quickly for you, which he rarely did for anyone. But for you, he made an exception.
"Ah, well I got us some mooncakes and tea, for you know, the Mid-Autumn Festival." You motioned the bag and thermos at him. "It's today. If you have time, that is." You broke eye contact with him, a habit of yours when you weren't sure about something.
Luckily for you, Miguel was receptive to your emotions and habits from working with you all the time. Overworking you was his way of making you spend more time with him, which is how he picked up your subtle mannerisms. Not that you knew, of course. Your compliant and people-pleasing nature didn't question it, to his delight. Now you were standing before him all fidgety and nervous while holding a bunch of things that you were trying to share with him.
How cute. Miguel mused. "Sure, I have time."
Miguel was not a tea and cakes type of guy, but again, for you, he'll try anything once.
"How about we go on the roof? The moon is said to be at the fullest and brightest tonight."
"Of course."
You two swung and zipped through the halls of HQ, and reached for the top of the building. You set your thermos and bag down on the floor of the roof. Miguel closely followed and watched you as you sat down and took out the tin box, and noticed the intricate details that were painted and embossed on the lid. As you were about to open them, Miguel pointed at the female figure from the design.
"Who's she? And that rabbit."
Your eyes beamed in excitement the moment he asked. You were afraid he was only going along with you for your sake. (He was interested in anything about you.)
"She's the moon goddess, Chang'e, who's famous for stealing her husband's elixir of immortality. Her husband, Houyi, was an archer that was rewarded the elixir by the gods for his services. She escaped to the moon, stayed there, and became its goddess. The moon is said to be the fullest and brightest according to the lunar calendar today which is why she is always referenced for the Mid-Autumn Festival." You explained as much as you could remember from stories you were taught in Chinese language school. You pointed at the rabbit. "And that lil bunny there is always with her because Chinese people think the moon crater looks like a bunny pounding more of the elixir of immortality! So it's like it's always with her."
You looked up at Miguel who was looking straight at you with soft brown eyes as he leaned his weight extremely close to you. He wore a soft smile from listening to you, making your heart flutter and temperature rise on your cheeks.
"You look so lovely under the moonlight." His eyes were half-lidded looking down on you. "Looks like you're stealing something from me too."
He was leaning dangerously close as his lips ghosted yours. You could feel every fiber of your muscles in your entire body tensing up and heat reverberating. Your breath hitched, but before anything else could happen, you panicked and looked down at the mooncake tin beside you.
"U-Um let me cut you your share." You said awkwardly. You didn't even notice Miguel pouting in disappointment.
You opened up the tin box. Miguel frowned and crossed his arms. He looked at the opened tin and noticed a missing mooncake. "You shared them with someone else, first? Guess I'm really not that special to you."
"I-I didn't mean to! I just had to brew some tea at the cafeteria and I wanted to thank the kitchen crew." You explained hurriedly like you were in trouble.
"I'm just teasing." Miguel chuckled and squeezed your arm for reassurance. He moved on and noticed something. "They're much smaller than I thought they'd be. Are they mini cakes?" He tilted his head to the side in curiosity, examining all lines, shapes, and characters of the design on the mooncakes.
"No, they're meant to be this size. The cakes are super dense." You had cut up the mooncake into 4 pieces. You held up the plastic tray it came in for Miguel. "Here. It has a salted egg yolk, and the filling is lotus paste. It's sweet and salty, and also my favorite!"
He took a piece of his share and you watched tentatively, unsure of his reaction. His eyes widened, but not in shock, rather in delight. He nodded in approval. He followed with a small smile.
"That was actually really good. I won't lie, I thought the salted egg yolk was weird at first, but it actually works to balance out the intense sweetness of the mooncake." He paused. "Could I get some tea though?" He pointed at the thermos.
"Oh, yeah, of course!"
You quickly pour him the tea into the lid of the thermos that also served as a cup. The tea was still warm as steam was coming off of the cup. You gently blew on the cup before handing it to Miguel. He immediately sipped the tea. He had let the tea sit in his mouth before swallowing to taste the tea.
"Think this might be my favorite tea. The light floral flavor helps neutralize the stickiness and sugar of the mooncake." He noted.
You couldn't be more happy to hear his compliments and analysis. Your need for his validation and approval was more than satisfied at this point.
"It's a bit rare for someone who never grew up on them to like these traditional mooncakes." You reminisced a bit on your childhood growing up. Even the other Chinese kids didn't always liked traditional Chinese food.
"Well I'm just cultured like that." Miguel dramatically flipped his hair, being the cheeky guy he was. "I have good taste."
You giggled. "Yes you really do!" You paused for a second. "Can I ask you something?"
"Of course." He replied softly, a tone he almost never used with anyone.
"What did you celebrate usually at home?" You could feel yourself regretting to ask due to his past, but you couldn't help wanting to reminisce with him and learn more about him.
"Well, growing up, we celebrated the usual holidays like Christmas and Halloween. Although for Mexican holidays, usually just Cinco de Mayo." Miguel looked away to the moon. You too gazed upon the lunar plane, mezmerized by its soft light as Miguel's voice carried you away. "And you know, my Gabi, she used to make sure I celebrated every holiday she liked with her. Christmas was her favorite. She loved getting presents, playing games, and making cookies for Santa."
You looked back at Miguel. His face was stoic, but you knew better. A war of emotions dazzled in his chocolate brown eyes against the moonlight. You took a deep breath. "She and I have in common then, I love Christmas. It's the best holiday for families. My family usually celebrates major Chinese and American holidays with a good feast. I always pitched in activity ideas for them or else we'd do nothing else but eat eat eat."
"You and Gabi would get along. She had quite the creative and active mind, like you." Miguel snuck a compliment in.
"I would have loved to meet her." Your heart ached for him. "I can never understand the pain and loss that you feel, but I do miss my family a lot too."
Miguel looked down, and then back up into your eyes. "I'm sorry, I know I've been overworking you. Had I known today's a holiday for you, I would've given you a break."
"It's alright. As long as you let me go home at some point." You fiddled with your fingers, unsure of what to say next. "I'm grateful to be here...it's just...I want to see my family more."
He nodded to that. "I can give you the week off, but can I ask something of you first?"
"Of course! I'll do anything!" You jumped up in people-pleasing mode.
Miguel felt some heat when you said that, but held up his composure to ask: "Can I kiss you?"
You were taken aback by the absurdity, but you weren't opposed to it. Unlike before, your nerves couldn't get the best of you this time. "Y-Yes. I'd like that very much." Blush and heat formed on your face. This couldn't be happening right now. You thought you blew it earlier.
With definitive confidence from you, Miguel shifted closer to you and guided his hands so that one was on your hip and the other guiding itself up to cup your cheek. He lingered to gently rub his thumb on your cheek before lightly pinching it.
"Ah! What are you doing?"
"Your cheeks remind me of a lil bunny rabbit. You're too cute." He said before silencing you with his mouth. He was holding you like a flower, as if he was so afraid to crush you in his strength. His kiss was firm yet soft, as if he was kissing his spouse. His body began to hover and push against you until he was on top of you. He nipped your lip teasingly, and pecked your lips. He peppered little kisses all over your face before giving your forehead one final kiss. He pressed his forehead against your own.
"You're wonderful. You know that? I appreciate with all that you've done for me and for all of us. Don't overextend yourself more than you have to. Don't be afraid to tell me no." Miguel spoke barely a whisper. "I...care about you."
You could melt into a puddle and ascend to heaven right now. Everything in your mind was being scrambled like a stir fry. Words could not even begin to form in your mind to explain how you feel. Your tummy was in knots while butterflies were threatening to spill out. You could've sworn the moon became brighter than before. You could almost hear someone urging you to go to him. As if in sync, the two of you leaned in and sealed another kiss under the moonlight.

what are your fav wellness habits? 💕💕
sooo many. i carry a water bottle on me everywhere like everywhere. it’s just my giant water support water bottle that i cannot leave the house without. i take really good care of my skin (cleanser + moisturizer + spf is the baseline for my skincare routine, but i integrate a lot of other products based on my needs), and i also have portable sunscreen on me wherever i go (v important considering this time of year). i love chocolate more than anything, but my mom ingrained it in me to eat processed sugar in moderation only (although there were times during exam szn where i was definitely ingesting more than i should lmao). i take a lot of walks. the gym i work out at is right next to the b&n i go to. crunching out flash cards while walking the treadmill is par for the course for me. i got a full blood panel done less than a month ago & any deficiencies i have i’ve been addressing. i typically try to eat homemade food, but if i eat out it’s still relatively clean food (like this salad place that has been supplying all my lunches as of late lol). i love green tea bc it’s anti-inflammatory & boosts my metabolism. i don’t like sodas just naturally tbh so i find it easier to drink non-carbonated stuff that err on the healthier side. i am guilty of liking starbucks, but i actually naturally like fruit blends more (passionfruit & peach blends are my secret love). when i’m really in the mood i go on runs & for swims & sunbathe & read a book & eat grapes & vibe alone. i have my routine

Did AWTR clexa ever go to a pumpkin patch and pick out pumpkins to carve into jack-o'-lanterns? Would they have been the type to give out candy to trick-or-treaters?
Oh yeah, that was one of Lexa's bucket list items 😌 about a month after their honeymoon they drove up and down the coast just to watch fall burst into bloom. They visited apple orchards to bring Gus back as many crates of their own handpicked apples as they could fit in the trunk of Clarke's shitty Honda to make treats and stuff for the shop (and also them, they swiped from the display case constantly). They went to pumpkin patches and loaded up their backseat with all different kinds and colors of gourds and pumpkins to carve up into interesting and crazy jack o lanterns, and haul out little trinkets/decorations they found from kitsch shops along the way. Enough to decorate the house, Abby's house, and the shop as well, to the point it looked like Halloween had thrown up all over everything that would stand still.
Clarke and Gus handle carving the bigger pumpkins while Lexa takes up a very authoritarian reign over the smaller gourds. Dozens of tiny jack o lanterns and cat silhouettes and wonky faced carvings lit up with inner tea lights peppering throughout the larger pumpkin displays. Just to add a little flare.
Lexa is the most excited to hand out candy because that's what she's always done since she was 8 years old. She never really cared much for trick or treating, not after her mom got sick. But getting dressed up anyway and stuffing herself with popcorn and candy while watching scary movies? Handing out candy and seeing everyone's costumes? Decorating the whole house with spooky stuff and pumpkins and cobwebs and little bats and candles????
Perfect. Day.
They go as Peter Pan and a very, very questionably appropriate Wendy. Lexa prancing around in her green skin tight tights and little hat slightly askew on her wild curls, brandishing her plastic sword and a playful grin to all the neighborhood kids who stop by. Which is helpful and a distraction from Clarke who settled on a wildly loose interpretation of Wendy, donning a rather short, tight white nighty in lieu of a nightgown, complete with a generous dusting of "pixie dust" (body glitter nicked from Lexa's secret stash of costume makeup via her high school performing days of the past).
She earns more than a few looks from the parents trailing behind...
Mostly though they spend the early evening just sitting on the porch swing out front, sneaking candy from the stash and getting pleasantly tipsy on Gus's homemade hard apple cider. After curfew they retire into pjs and the livingroom couch, snuggled up and crashing from the chocolate, alcohol, and sugar high of before, sensibly cutting the decadence with a mountain of popcorn that they share with Gus while listening to him complain about the sheer amount of blood, guts, and gore on the screen 🎃👻

There’s something magical about the scent of cinnamon. It instantly transports you to a place of warmth and comfort—maybe it’s a memory of freshly baked cinnamon rolls, a steaming cup of spiced tea on a chilly evening, or the soft glow of a candle flickering in the background.
Cinnamon isn’t just a spice—it’s a feeling. And when it comes to gifting, what better way to spread that cozy, comforting vibe than with beautifully crafted, cinnamon-scented treats?
But not all cinnamon is created equal. If you want the best, Ceylon Cinnamon—also known as “true cinnamon”—is the gold standard. Harvested in Sri Lanka, it has a delicate sweetness and a rich aroma that sets it apart from the more common Cassia variety. Plus, when you choose organic cinnamon, you’re getting the purest form of this incredible spice—free from additives and full of natural goodness.
So, if you're looking for unique and thoughtful gifts, here are some cinnamon-infused ideas that will make anyone’s day a little cozier.
Thoughtful Cinnamon-Inspired Gifts
1. A Cozy Cinnamon Tea Set
There’s nothing quite like curling up with a warm cup of tea, especially when it’s infused with Ceylon Cinnamon. Gift a beautifully packaged tea set featuring organic cinnamon-infused blends—like cinnamon chai or spiced green tea. You can even add a jar of raw honey and a handcrafted mug for the ultimate tea-lover’s gift.
2. Cinnamon-Infused Honey – A Sweet Delight
Imagine drizzling cinnamon-infused honey over warm toast, stirring it into a cup of milk, or adding it to a bowl of oatmeal. This simple but luxurious treat is packed with both flavor and health benefits, making it a thoughtful gift for foodies and wellness lovers alike.
3. Hand-Poured Cinnamon Candles
A cinnamon-scented candle can transform any space into a cozy retreat. Whether it's for a relaxing evening, a work-from-home setup, or just to add warmth to a room, the soft glow and inviting aroma of an all-natural, cinnamon-infused candle make for a perfect gift.
4. DIY Cinnamon Sugar Scrub – Spa at Home
If you love DIY gifts, a homemade cinnamon sugar scrub is a fun and thoughtful idea. Mix organic cinnamon with brown sugar, coconut oil, and a hint of vanilla for a natural exfoliating scrub that leaves skin feeling soft and refreshed. Package it in a cute jar, and you’ve got a spa-like gift straight from the heart.
5. Ceylon Cinnamon Essential Oil for Relaxation
For the friend who loves self-care, a small bottle of pure Ceylon Cinnamon essential oil can be a game-changer. A few drops in a diffuser fill a room with warmth and comfort, while a diluted blend can be used for a relaxing massage.
6. A Baking Kit for the Sweet Tooth
Know someone who loves baking? Put together a cozy baking kit with organic cinnamon powder, vanilla extract, high-quality flour, and a cute recipe card for homemade cinnamon rolls or snickerdoodle cookies. It’s a fun and interactive way to enjoy the scent and taste of cinnamon.
7. Scented Cinnamon Potpourri Bags
Fill small cloth sachets with cinnamon sticks, dried orange peels, and cloves for a lovely handmade gift. These potpourri bags can be placed in drawers, closets, or even cars to bring a natural, comforting fragrance wherever they go.
Where to Find the Best Ceylon Cinnamon
If you're looking for the finest cinnamon-based gifts, make sure you’re getting authentic Ceylon Cinnamon from a trusted source. Many organic spice shops specialize in high-quality, ethically sourced cinnamon, and you can easily buy organic spices online to ensure you’re getting the real deal.

Primal Chic Beauty Part Two: Beauty From Food... No, Really!
Tumblr media
I was planning on doing this post a little later, after my introduction to my Paleo-based, but not strictly paleo diet and what I regularly have stocked in my fridge and pantry. However, I've gotten a few more asks recently about skincare, and this post got moved up in the content planner to now!
In this post, you'll learn about some pantry staples that can be utilized for skin care, a few basic recipes for skin care products, long-lasting tools that compliment homemade & natural skincare, and why making the switch can benefit you and the environment. I'll cover some at-home-created makeup at a later date, but you should know, it doesn't last very well and it's often easier to simply buy clean, natural makeup from a company specializing in it.
Something you need to know for this to make sense is that I consider my own diet Paleo-based, but it's not strictly paleo. This means I largely am eating unprocessed foods, I'm not playing with artificial sweeteners and using natural sweeteners sparingly (usually Honey or whole sugar cane), and have cut out unfermented dairy, and most grains & grain foods, with occasional rice & oat consumption & my weekly communion at Church. I personally advise anyone who's dealing with food and gut issues to start with an elimination diet such as FODMAP or a strict Paleo, and then gradually reintroduce foods & food groups to figure out what works for YOU! Whole30 is a great introduction to this concept.
So, with that out of the way, let's talk about making your own skincare and some things to keep in stock for skin care.
Stocking Up
Pantry Staples for DIY At-Home Skincare & Haircare:
𓃠 Avocados & Avocado Oil
𓃠 Coconut Oil
𓃠 Almond Oil
𓃠 Honey
𓃠 Unsweetened Greek Yogurt
𓃠 Cocoa Butter
𓃠 Eggs
𓃠 Lemons and/or Lemon Juice
𓃠 Jojoba Oil
𓃠 Shea Butter
𓃠 Oats
𓃠 Rice
𓃠 Milk (Goat or Whole Cow Milk)
𓃠 Beef Tallow
𓃠 Ghee
𓃠 Baking Soda
𓃠 Apple Cider Vinegar
𓃠 Dried Rose/Rose Hips
𓃠 Cacao Nibs
𓃠 Mugwort
𓃠 Green & Black Tea
𓃠 Orange Peels
𓃠 Calendula Flowers
𓃠 Catnip
𓃠 Dried Witch Hazel
𓃠 An Aloe Vera Plant
𓃠 Table Salt or Himalayan Salt
𓃠 Unrefined Sugar
Non-Food Ingredients:
𓃠 Aztec Clay
𓃠 Castile Soap (in liquid or bar form)
𓃠 Epsom Salts/ Magnesium Salts
𓃠 Essential Oils in your favorite scents, I recommend Lavender, Lemongrass, & Mint, if you don't have pets you can also do Tea Tree & Eucalyptus but they are Nephrotoxic (toxic to the kidneys) for Cats, Dogs, and some small animals such as ferrets.
There are some things I still recommend you purchase commercially such as:
𓃠 Toothpaste (I'm not here to talk the fluoride vs MI paste vs Ozone vs hydroxyapatite vs charcoal vs no anti-cavity measure debate, if it's requested I can do a breakdown on the pros and cons of all of them, but it's really not my area of expertise and I'd recommend talking to your doctor, dentist, and local complimentary or holistic dentist or doctor about your individual needs)
𓃠 Floss (if you can, opt for silk rather than plasticized floss, and rolls of floss over single-use floss picks, if you're dedicated to floss picks, aim for a bamboo or wooden handle instead of plastic)
𓃠 Mouthwash (I've found the homemade varieties of this do not sufficiently treat dry mouth or gum issues)
𓃠 Deodorant or Antiperspirant (Thai Crystal deodorant works very well as a non-antiperspirant option, and I recommend solid stick antiperspirants over aerosolized ones for your indoor air quality and lung health)
𓃠 Sunscreen (I have never found an effective DIY Sunscreen)
Tools:
𓃠 A Mortar and Pestle
𓃠 Boar or horse hair fan brush with wooden handle
𓃠 Glass bowls in multiple sizes (from a small spice bowl to a large bowl for doing facial steams)
𓃠 Measuring Cups (You can use your food ones, just make sure to wash them well)
𓃠 A stone roller and Gua Sha
𓃠 A small skincare spatula in stainless steel
𓃠 2 Small Spoons (spare stainless steal teaspoons work well)
𓃠 Wood & Boar Hair dry brush
𓃠 Undyed, untreated Cotton Washcloths & Hand Towels
𓃠 Mesh Tea Infuser Ball
𓃠 A small spice wisk
Recipes:
A Sample Routine:
𓃠 Start with a Coconut & Almond Oil Cleanse (about 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil & Almond Oil to desired texture) apply to dampened skin with hands, rinse with lukewarm to hot water
Tip: Utilize a reusable cotton round moistened with a bit more of the above oil cleanser to wipe away stubborn eye makeup
𓃠 Soak a cotton hand towel with water that is as hot as you can tolerate, wring it out, and wrap around the face, leaving the nostrils exposed, leave on until towel has cooled.
𓃠 Combine 3 drops of Liquid castile soap with 1-2 tablespoons of warm water into a small glass dish, work into a foam with a fan brush or whisk, then apply to face with either hands or a reusable face scrub sponge or applicator. Rinse with Warm water
𓃠 If dealing with redness, puffiness, or inflamed skin, prepare a large glass bowl with ice and cold water, dip face for as long as tolerable 2-5 times.
𓃠 Dry the face, and utilize a small boar bristle dry brush to gently exfoliate the skin with light pressure, working away from the nose towards the outside of the face.
𓃠 Utilize a Rose & Witch Hazel Green Tea toner for the face (Steep Green Tea, dried rose petals, & witch hazel in distilled water for 3-5 minutes, allow to cool, and store in an amber colored glass spray bottle or dropper top bottle, store in the refrigerator for longer shelf life & a more cooling effect)
𓃠 Apply 2-4 drops of a preferred liquid oil such as almond or jojoba to the face, the amount should be enough to provide glide for a Gua Sha to run across the face
𓃠 Do a gua sha massage, paying attention to the forehead, the hollows of the cheeks/cheekbones, and the jawline, and any areas of tension, you can also utilize a mushroom shaped stone to work tension out of the temples or TMJ.
𓃠 Moisturize with a preferred semisolid fat such as Ghee, Tallow, Coconut Oil, and utilize a facial roller until absorbed, for the eyes, gently heat your preferred semisolid fat until it is liquid or near liquid between your finger tips, and apply gently with the ring fingers.
𓃠 Utilize a face roller to assist in absorption of your semisolid fat moisturizer
Avocado, & Oat Hydration Mask
𓃠 Materials: 1/2 Avocado, 1/4 cup of rolled oats, 1/8 cup goats milk or yogurt, 1 tablespoon honey, a mortar and pestle
𓃠 Remove the skin of the 1/2 avocado and Mash thoroughly with food processor or mortar and pestle, once thoroughly mashed, add honey, & milk or yogurt, whisk together until thoroughly combined, and add oats, folding gently to combine, apply to face excluding the eye area and let sit for 15-30 minutes. Avocado and honey can also be utilized as an under eye pack for a similar duration to help with dry, tired under eyes.
Inflamed Skin Honey Helper (I use this for acne and post-sun burn relief)
𓃠 Combine equal parts honey, goat's milk, and aloe vera and mix until thoroughly incorporated, apply to dry, itchy areas of the skin, and leave on for up to an hour
Body Scrub
Combine 1/2 cup of Epsom salts with 1/4 cup unrefined sugar & 1/4 cup of Himalayan salt and mix well, add 1/4 cup of preferred carrier oil such as jojoba, almond, or avocado oil, 1 tablespoon of Mugwort, and 10-20 drops of Lemongrass or Lavender Essential Oil, store in a sealable glass jar (such as a mason jar or a bale wire jar) in a cool, dark place until ready to use.
Apply with light pressure using the hands to exfoliate the body or as a pre-shave scrub
This also works very well on sore joints as a sort of pre-bath pack or wet-bandage by slathering it on thick to a dampened joint and surrounding the affected joint with a hot towel for 20-30 minutes to draw out heat and inflammation from arthritic joints.
There will be videos for these coming out as I hit the point of needing to remake them and I'll keep you all updated on how to watch those once I figure out some new platforms post tiktok ban and my leaving meta.

Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care: Embracing the Power of Nature for Youthful Skin
Natural anti-aging skin care focuses on using plant-based and non-toxic ingredients to combat signs of aging and promote youthful skin. Unlike synthetic products that may contain harmful chemicals, natural anti-aging skin care relies on the healing properties of nature to nourish and rejuvenate the skin.
Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care and Their Benefits
Key ingredients in natural anti-aging skin care include antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamins that offer significant benefits for the skin. Antioxidants like vitamin C and E protect the skin from free radical damage, reducing the appearance of fine lines and age spots. Essential fatty acids, found in oils such as argan and rosehip, support skin hydration and elasticity. Additionally, botanical extracts like green tea and aloe vera soothe and repair the skin.
Create a Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care Routine
Creating a natural anti-aging skin care routine involves selecting and incorporating products that focus on gentle, effective ingredients. Begin with a natural cleanser to remove impurities without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Follow with a toner that balances the skin’s pH and prepares it for subsequent treatments. Apply a serum enriched with antioxidants and essential oils to target specific signs of aging, such as wrinkles and uneven skin tone.
Role of Hydration in Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care
Hydration is a crucial element in natural anti-aging skin care as it helps maintain skin elasticity and prevent the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Well-hydrated skin appears plumper and more youthful, while dehydration can exacerbate the signs of aging. Natural anti-aging skin care products often include hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and plant-based oils. These ingredients work to lock in moisture and restore the skin’s natural barrier.
Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care for Different Skin Types
Natural anti-aging skin care can be tailored to suit various skin types, including oily, dry, and sensitive skin. For oily skin, opt for lightweight, non-comedogenic ingredients like green tea extract and witch hazel, which help control excess oil while providing anti-aging benefits. Dry skin benefits from richer moisturizers containing ingredients like shea butter and squalane to enhance hydration and elasticity. Sensitive skin requires gentle formulations with soothing ingredients like chamomile and calendula to reduce inflammation and irritation.
The Benefits of Antioxidants in Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care
Antioxidants play a pivotal role in natural anti-aging skin care by neutralizing free radicals that contribute to premature aging. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage skin cells, leading to wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. Natural anti-aging skin care products rich in antioxidants, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and green tea extract, help protect the skin from oxidative stress and promote a more youthful appearance.
DIY Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care Remedies
DIY natural anti-aging skin care remedies offer a cost-effective and personalized approach to skincare. Common ingredients for homemade treatments include honey, yogurt, and avocado, which provide hydration, exfoliation, and nourishment. For example, a honey and yogurt mask can help moisturize and soothe the skin, while an avocado and olive oil mask offers deep hydration and essential fatty acids.
How Diet Impacts Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care?
Diet plays a significant role in natural anti-aging skin care, as the nutrients you consume can affect the health and appearance of your skin. A diet rich in antioxidants, healthy fats, and vitamins supports skin regeneration and combats oxidative stress. Foods like berries, nuts, leafy greens, and fatty fish provide essential nutrients that promote collagen production, improve skin elasticity, and reduce inflammation.
The Science Behind Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care
The science behind natural anti-aging skin care involves understanding how natural ingredients interact with the skin’s biology to promote health and vitality. Natural ingredients such as peptides, vitamins, and plant extracts have been shown to support collagen production, enhance skin repair, and improve elasticity. Studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of these components in reducing the appearance of aging signs and improving skin texture.
Choosing the Right Products for Effective Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care
Choosing the right products for effective natural anti-aging skin care involves evaluating ingredients, formulations, and your specific skin needs. Look for products that feature high-quality, organic ingredients with proven anti-aging properties, such as antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and natural peptides. It’s also important to select products that align with your skin type and concerns.
Conclusion
Natural anti-aging skin care offers a holistic and effective approach to maintaining youthful skin by harnessing the power of nature’s most beneficial ingredients. By understanding the key components of natural anti-aging skin care, incorporating targeted techniques, and making informed product choices, individuals can achieve healthier, more radiant skin without relying on synthetic additives.

My family moved closer to the ocean a few years ago and since then we've been at the beach a lot. I'm all for healthy sun exposure, but sunburn is something I want to avoid. Now I rarely get sunburned, but when I do, I try to soothe the area with natural remedies. These sunburn ice cubes contain skin-soothing ingredients that help speed up sunburn healing and provide instant pain relief. Being Irish, when I was younger I used to slather on sunscreen (and get nasty sunburns) but since changing my diet and using certain supplements I've noticed my tolerance to the sun has improved a lot - but that doesn't mean I'm still tanning for hours! If I reach my limit, I cover up or seek shade. I rarely use homemade sunscreen. Moderate, healthy exposure to sunlight is important to ensure I get enough Vitamin D (which has many benefits in itself). I'm not afraid of the sun, but I do try to be careful not to get a sunburn. But despite my best efforts, sometimes I get a sunburn. Ice cubes to soothe sunburn Over the years, I've come up with a variety of cooling sprays and natural remedies to soothe sunburns, but they go bad quickly in the fridge, and even though they're quick to make, they need to be mixed every time you need them. One of my favorite sunburn remedies is fresh aloe vera, which is quick and easy to make. However, if you don't have your own aloe vera plants growing, these calming cubes are the next best thing. Before I go into the details of how each ingredient works, I want to be clear about why I chose herbal ice cubes. Obviously, ice feels good on warm sunburned skin, but many health experts don't recommend it. They do, however, recommend cold showers and compresses. Ice is thought to act as a vasoconstrictor, reducing blood flow to the area and slowing healing time. Adding herbs that speed healing and dilate blood vessels (increase blood flow) can help with this problem, plus they provide a cooling effect. Aloe Vera Gel The main ingredient in these herbal ice cubes is aloe vera gel, which is a staple in many sunburn remedies and can be found at any drug store or big box store—but we're not talking about the bright green stuff that's loaded with harsh preservatives. My favorite way to harvest aloe vera is directly from the plant. You can learn more about harvesting your own aloe vera here. If you don't have an aloe plant, you can also buy one. Aloe Vera Gel Uses natural preservatives. Aloe vera contains pain-relieving salicylic acid and magnesium, as well as aloin, which has mild UV-protecting properties. Aloe has a cooling effect on the skin, soothes inflammation, leaves a smooth, silky feeling and moisturizes damaged skin. Comfrey This wonder plant has been nicknamed bone knit for its amazing ability to quickly heal broken bones. It also helps with sore joints and damaged skin. Comfrey stimulates tissue repair and aids in the formation of healthy skin cells. This herb also reduces inflammation and helps soothe and heal damaged skin. Like marshmallow root, it is a demulcent that provides a protective barrier for tissues. Calendula I use calendula in everything from baby care products to stretch mark salves to teas. Calendula is a gentle herb that can be used on any skin concern. It soothes inflammation and is great for cuts, burns, rashes, sunburns, and cuts. Calendula also cleanses and moves lymphatic fluid, improving blood circulation. lavender Like calendula, lavender is a gentle herb that's great for soothing the skin and is great for all occasions. You'll find lavender in this oatmeal exfoliating skin scrub and in this refreshing lavender peach iced tea. I use a lot of essential oils, but lavender herb is also a staple in my medicine cabinet. Lavender disinfects wounds and cuts, acts as a painkiller to relieve pain, is often used to speed up the healing of burns and relieve itching, and increases blood flow to the skin, speeding up healing and improving blood flow.
marshmallow Slippery marshmallow is another skin-soothing herb in this recipe, providing a moisturizing covering and cooling to irritated skin. The root, leaves, and flowers of marshmallow are all used to soothe inflammation. If you have marshmallow growing in your garden, you can use the leaves and flowers in this recipe; if not, the root is also a great option. peppermint The final ingredient in sunburn-relieving ice cubes is peppermint, which is also a key ingredient in my homemade cooling spray. Peppermint is rich in menthol, which gives it a unique effect of making you feel both warm and cold at the same time. Mint has vasodilatory properties, which stimulates blood circulation and gives you the feeling of warmth. However, when you use mint with cold or cooling ingredients, it can also feel cool on your skin. I love using mint to soothe the heat of a painful sunburn! You don't need to use all the herbs in this recipe, but we recommend using at least aloe vera, mint, or other soothing herbs, but make sure you add up to ¼ cup of herbs total, as they all work together to help soothe and calm sun damage. Ice cubes to soothe sunburn These refreshing ice cubes contain skin-soothing and healing ingredients that help cool down sunburn. Preparation time3 Minutes MinutesActive Time15 Minutes MinutesCooling Time3 time time 30 Minutes Minutestotal time3 time time 48 Minutes Minutes yield: 12 Ice cubes author: Katie Wells Bring a small saucepan of water to a boil.Add the herbs, cover and turn off the heat. Let sit for 15 minutes.Strain the herbs and reserve the water. Some of the water may have evaporated, but you should have at least 1 3/4 cups of tea. Place the herbal tea in the refrigerator to chill.Once the tea is no longer hot, stir in the aloe vera gel.Pour the mixture into ice cube trays and freeze.Apply to sunburned skin as needed to help cool and soothe the skin. Sunburn-relieving ice cubes can be stored in a reusable silicone bag in the freezer until you're ready to use them. These will keep in the freezer for at least a year. What are your go-to treatments for sunburn? Leave a comment and let me know!

Scalp care is essential for maintaining healthy hair and promoting overall scalp health. In this article, we will delve into the world of scalp care shampoos, exploring the key ingredients to look for, the importance of choosing the right shampoo for your scalp type, and the benefits of regular scalp care. We will also compare natural and chemical shampoos, discussing their respective pros and cons, as well as the impact they have on scalp health. Lastly, we will explore DIY scalp care remedies, highlighting effective ingredients for homemade treatments and providing precautions for their use. Key Takeaways Choose scalp care shampoos with key ingredients like tea tree oil and salicylic acid for optimal results. Select a shampoo that suits your scalp type to address specific concerns and maintain scalp health. Regular scalp care can help prevent issues like dandruff and dryness, promoting a healthy scalp environment. Natural shampoos offer benefits like gentleness and fewer chemicals, but may not always be as effective as chemical shampoos. Be cautious when using DIY scalp care remedies, as improper formulations or ingredients can cause adverse reactions. Understanding Scalp Care Shampoos Ingredients to Look For When I delve into the world of scalp care shampoos, I'm particularly keen on identifying the right ingredients that will nurture my scalp. Key ingredients that are beneficial for scalp health include tea tree oil, salicylic acid, and zinc pyrithione. These components are known for their soothing, anti-inflammatory, and anti-dandruff properties. Tea tree oil: Offers antiseptic, antifungal, and antibacterial properties. Salicylic acid: Helps with exfoliation and clearing clogged pores. Zinc pyrithione: Fights dandruff-causing microorganisms. In my quest for the perfect shampoo, I've learned that it's not just about what to include, but also what to avoid. Certain ingredients can be harsh and counterproductive for scalp health. For instance, sulfates can strip the scalp of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. Parabens, while preserving the shelf life of shampoos, can cause skin irritation in some individuals. It's essential to strike a balance between nourishing and gentle ingredients while steering clear of those that can aggravate the scalp. I also pay attention to specific ingredients that cater to my hair type. For example, for oily hair, Green Clay and Rosemary are excellent choices. Green clay helps to balance oil production, while rosemary is known for its stimulating properties that promote a healthy scalp. Choosing the Right Shampoo for Your Scalp Type When I set out to find the perfect shampoo for my scalp, I realized it's not a one-size-fits-all situation. Understanding my scalp type was crucial in making an informed decision. For instance, if I have a dry scalp, I'd look for hydrating ingredients like shea butter or coconut oil, while for an oily scalp, I might opt for shampoos with clarifying properties such as tea tree oil or green tea extract. Here's a simple guide I follow to match shampoo types with scalp conditions: Dry Scalp: Moisturizing shampoos with natural oils Oily Scalp: Clarifying shampoos that remove excess oil Sensitive Scalp: Hypoallergenic shampoos with soothing ingredients Normal Scalp: Balanced shampoos that provide gentle cleansing Remember, the goal is to balance the scalp's natural oils without stripping it or over-moisturizing. This delicate balance is key to a healthy scalp and hair. I've also learned to pay attention to product descriptions and reviews. For example, a title like "Here's How To Pick The Right Shampoo For Your Hair Type" can be a great starting point. And snippets from reviews such as "Our Natural Argan Oil & Lavender Sulfate Free Anti-Frizz Shampoo is hands-down the best shampoo for dry and frizzy hair" can offer valuable insights into how a product performs for specific hair concerns. Benefits of Regular Scalp Care
I've come to realize that maintaining a regular scalp care routine is more than just a means to avoid discomfort or aesthetic issues; it's a vital part of overall hair health. Regular scalp care can lead to improved hair growth and texture, ensuring that my hair looks and feels its best. One of the most significant benefits I've noticed is the reduction in issues like dandruff and scalp irritation. By keeping my scalp clean and moisturized, I've managed to keep these common problems at bay. Moreover, a healthy scalp environment is crucial for preventing hair loss and promoting hair thickness. Regular scalp care is not just about using the right products; it's also about adopting the right habits. Massaging my scalp has become a part of my routine, and the difference is noticeable. This simple action stimulates blood flow, which is essential for nourishing hair follicles and encouraging robust hair growth. Here's a quick list of benefits that I've personally experienced with consistent scalp care: Enhanced hair growth Improved hair texture Reduction in dandruff Less scalp irritation Prevention of hair loss Increased hair thickness Natural vs. Chemical Shampoos Pros and Cons of Natural Shampoos When I decided to switch to natural shampoos, I was driven by the desire to embrace products that were kinder to my scalp and the environment. Natural shampoos often boast a list of plant-based ingredients, which can be gentler on the scalp compared to their chemical counterparts. However, it's not all about the positives. I've noticed that some natural shampoos may not lather as much, which can be a bit unsatisfying if you're used to the rich foam of traditional shampoos. Moreover, the cleansing power might feel weaker, potentially leading to the need for more frequent washing. While natural shampoos can be nourishing and eco-friendly, they might require an adjustment period for your hair and scalp. Here's a quick list of pros and cons I've compiled based on my experience: Pros: Gentle on the scalp Environmentally friendly Free from harsh chemicals Cons: May not lather well Could require more frequent use Sometimes less effective at removing oil and buildup Impact of Chemical Shampoos on Scalp Health When I consider the impact of chemical shampoos on my scalp health, I can't help but be cautious. Many of these products contain harsh ingredients that can strip away natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. It's important to be aware of what we're putting on our bodies, as the scalp is particularly absorbent. Sodium laureth sulfate Sodium lauryl sulfate Parabens Formaldehyde These are just a few of the chemicals that can be found in shampoos which may cause adverse effects. While they are effective at cleaning, they can also be too harsh for some people, especially those with sensitive skin or conditions like eczema. It's essential to protect ourselves from toxic chemicals in shampoo. By being informed and choosing products wisely, we can maintain a healthy scalp and hair. I've learned to read labels and research ingredients to ensure I'm not exposing my scalp to potential irritants. It's a small step that can make a big difference in the long run. DIY Scalp Care Remedies Effective Ingredients for Homemade Scalp Treatments When I delve into the world of homemade scalp treatments, I'm often amazed by the variety of natural ingredients that can be harnessed to rejuvenate and maintain scalp health. Tea tree oil stands out as a potent antifungal and antibacterial agent, making it a popular choice for tackling dandruff and scalp irritation. While exploring these remedies, it's crucial to remember that natural doesn't always mean gentle. Some ingredients can be quite potent and should be used with care. Here's a list of ingredients I've found effective for homemade scalp treatments: Aloe vera, known for its soothing and moisturizing properties. Baking soda, which can help in removing buildup and clarifying the scalp.
Crushed aspirins, containing salicylic acid, can aid in exfoliating the scalp and reducing flakiness. Each ingredient brings its own set of benefits, and I've learned that combining them can sometimes enhance their effectiveness. However, it's important to patch test any homemade concoction before applying it to your entire scalp, as individual reactions can vary. Precautions When Using DIY Remedies While exploring the world of DIY scalp care remedies, I've learned that it's crucial to approach these treatments with caution. Not all natural ingredients are safe for everyone, and what works for one person may not work for another. It's important to conduct a patch test before applying any homemade concoction to your entire scalp. This can help prevent potential allergic reactions or irritation. Here are a few precautions to keep in mind: Always research the ingredients you plan to use. Understand your scalp's sensitivity and any allergies you may have. Start with small quantities to minimize adverse reactions. Never use essential oils undiluted; they should be mixed with a carrier oil. Remember, the goal is to nourish and revitalize your scalp, not to cause additional stress or damage. Proceed with care and listen to your body's responses. If you're unsure about a particular ingredient or method, it's best to consult with a dermatologist or a trichologist. They can provide guidance tailored to your specific scalp needs and ensure that your DIY efforts contribute positively to your scalp health. ConclusionIn conclusion, proper scalp care is essential for maintaining healthy hair and preventing scalp issues. The review of various scalp care shampoos in this article highlights the importance of choosing the right products for your scalp needs. Whether you are dealing with dryness, dandruff, or other scalp concerns, investing in a quality scalp care shampoo can make a significant difference. Remember to consider your specific scalp condition and preferences when selecting a shampoo, and consult with a dermatologist if needed. With the right scalp care routine and the use of effective shampoos, you can revitalize your scalp and promote overall hair health.
