Dealing With Rejection

This is something that has  followed me my whole life. I was a disappointment and never a good enough daughter for my Mum and for years I had no communication with my dad despite living in the same home. 

That sense overshadowed my life and I always felt I never truly fitted in. School, friends, church .... I was always on the outskirts.

In recent years I thought I had finally found my tribe. My amazing “fit fam”. I have to say these can be some of the most cliquey people ever sometimes. Then you find an amazing group of like minded people. Those issues came back to haunt me though and my insecurities showed up creating a mess and with me ending up with what I have come to expect.. being rejected.

Lessons learned? 

Take a step back and breathe when things happen. Learn to get a different perspective.

Inner circles where you can trust people are life. We are not created to walk alone. We all need a place we can be secure enough to be real.  However an attitude of love to those not part of the inner circle will leave them feeling valued, important and like they matter also.

I get to choose to embrace and accept others. I know the pain of rejection only too well and I do not want to be the the person that causes anyone else to feel that way. It would break my heart knowing I have made someone feel unwelcome and ashamed of who they are.

We need to live for more than just ourselves and there is value in every single person on this earth. I want to speak to the good in people, build them up and see that shine and be amplified.  It is easy to look at the ugly, it is an honour to look at and pull out the goodness in others. Water that stuff and it will blossom and grow!

Actions speak loudly. I want mine to make people feel good. I want people to feel like they matter because I know the pain of the opposite.   A smile, a hug, looking someone in the eyes, honest complements, small gifts or cards, holding open a door are positive actions that show a person they are valued. Say thank you! Say well done and say it often. 

I may feel rejected at times, however the thing is, I do matter. Every single tear of mine matters. I latched onto some biblical promises for this one. I know you may not believe the same as I do and that is ok. However this promise is precious no matter what. That is that our tears matter, someone sees them and cares. They are precious because you are precious. They matter because you matter. 

Choose to be a difference maker. Choose to edify people. Choose to not only live your best life but encourage others so they too can live their best life.
