This is something I've only seen on the game's TV Tropes page, but what do you think of the idea that Curly's less than perfect decisions were because he was sleep deprived?
I think it’s one of the factors on many.
To say it’s the biggest reason pushes past a lot of stuff and other concepts but I do think his “zoning out” and slow reactions were extrapolated by not sleeping enough. We can kinda infer he used the coffee machine to supplement the sleep he missed despite it keeping him up worse. Losing that in tandem with the last weeks stressors is like anxiety on top of caffeine withdrawal, but the machines been broke for a while so he’s likely over it. So I do think he was sleep deprived but it was more so the beginning stages of fog, irritability and struggles with organizing thoughts.
Like I put his sleep deprivation in one of the faults of capitalism and Pony Express when it comes to things Curly couldn’t handle vs just didn’t Janel well, it was out of his control. Like he is the Captain but also the main pilot, idk if yall know but 5 hours is not enough for like a nice day of relaxing let alone flying a space craft. It’s not just sleep deprivation but exhaustion from the monotony of work at play. If his psych eval is any indication he has been running on autopilot for a while, doubly so if we consider that sort of dissociative hallucination before Jimmy’s eval as another dash on his not all there ness.
A weird design of work relaxation balance from P.E as I feel like it makes accidents more likely to happen, but if that includes more reasons to dock pay then I can see why they made it that way.

ok no deep burning questions but here's some silly ones
is iris a dog or a cat person? and on a similar but not exactly the same note if she was turned into a critter of some kind thru some anomaly would she be a dog or a cat (or something else :eyes:)
if she played minecraft what kinda style would she have (redstoner builder speedrunner fighter etc)
Oh my god... Iris asks.. how I've missed you!!
We're gonna do this a little differently this time. Within the ask, I'll include some little art to go along with my answers, I hope you enjoy! :]
(Perhaps you aren't into reading. If not; you're able to simply scroll through the art within this post by selecting one and swiping back and forth. That or you can scroll down like a normie.)
First question; 'Is Iris a dog or cat person?' Being honest? Neither! If she was to pick between the two, probably dogs, she has specific trauma tied to cats due to Omega-7, which I could explain in a separate ask if you'd like, but in terms of dogs? I think she feels in-between about them. I think she generally thinks they are 'cute' and is probably bonded to the idea of them being protectors (I like the idea that she bonded with some sniffer dogs while on Omega-7), but the fact that they are very high maintenance and demand a lot of her attention and physical affection is overwhelming for her. In short, they're nice to be around temporarily, but not her ideal long-term pet.
Tumblr media
As for a pet, though, I think she'd enjoy some sort of lizard or reptile. I asked GlassAutomaton something similar to this in the past, and I agree with what he said there, so I'll just say it here as well; I can imagine her enjoying upkeeping their enclosures and the heat of their sun lamps. I also just think she has this particular affection for them because she grew up in a place where there was a significant amount of them just around regularly. They remind her of home.
I like to think she has this particular affection for snakes, salamanders and geckos in particular, and they inflict a rare case of cuteness-aggression from her when she sees them, but I feel she'd have a hard time ever asking for one as a pet, not because she thinks her overseers wouldn't allow it (I actually think they'd like her to have something other then Alpha-9 to devote herself too) but because she'd get embarrassed about being caught being so affectionate with another little being, even if they're an animal. The gods forbid Iris Thompson from baby-talking an animal in another's presence, in her eyes at least. Gotta keep up that 'Cool-Girl' persona, I guess. (The one that only exists in her head. Aha.)
Tumblr media
Next question! 'If she was to be transformed into a little critter of some kind, which would it be?' Picking between the dog and cat, it's a bit hard to choose, I think she shares a lot of attributes with both of those animals specifically. With cats, she's similar in the aspects that she's naturally drawn to warm places, always a little bit touch and go with affection and her mood, and secretly a bit of a cuddle-bug, even if she'd never admit it. And with dogs, I'd say she's very praise-driven, even if subtley, a bit of a suck up when it comes to those she cares about, and quite demanding when she wants to be. I guess this answer ends with her being an Eye-Pet, if that reference isn't too niche. Which, from my understanding, and reflecting back on my five-year-old self's memories, is the mixture between the two animals. But who knows, maybe there's another glorious mixture of the two I'm failing to bring up.
As for any general animal I think she'd transform into, I guess I'd say it would be fun to see a Snake-Iris, which I know is something that's already been conceived somewhere. There's not a lot behind this past how I've connected her with reptiles, and the fact that I think she deserves to unhinge her jaw and swallow a mouse whole, just a little.
Tumblr media
Final question! 'If she was to play Minecraft, what playstyle would she attach herself to?' Honestly, it's a little bit hard to choose on this one because I never really imagined her being a fan of sandbox types of games to begin with, but! I'd like to imagine she'd probably attach herself to the 'miner' type playstyle. She seems the type to get into the game for a couple of weeks and devote herself hard to one goal at a time, like upkeeping a fort and a farm and grinding for all the best materials (Atleast the ones she deems 'ethical', whatever that means. I think she'd learn about the villager trading system and be mortified.) only to get incredibly embarrassed that she wasted her time on such a 'nothing' task and never touch the game again.
Do I think she's good at grinding? Somewhat. On the most basic levels. I think she'd start to feel her brain twist inside her skull if she even tried to conceptualise a Redstone farm, let alone a mob farm, I mean, c'mon! She needs to give her opposition a fighting chance! Trapping them in a chamber and swiping at their legs is just too far for her! She may be a fighter, but she has morals..
Speaking of fighting, I think one of the things she genuinely does get good at in the game is the combat system, even if she's just practicing it on the hostile mobs. If there is one thing Iris Thompson cares about, it's her safety, and it's also most certainly being prepared.
Finally, I think far in the future, or perhaps not, her and Jacqueline (SCP-1985) would play together. Iris would probably play hardball at first when Jacqueline suggests they start a little world together but eventually cave at the prospect of building something with someone else. It's a flattering idea to her, even if she'd never admit that. I think Jacqueline has a much more laid-back playstyle. She enjoys the nature and life the game holds in its scenery. She enjoys being able to build something beautiful from scratch. I think she's an immaculate builder and devotes far too much time to perfecting her landscapes within their worlds. Makes her and Iris a neat little cottage away from it all, and while she finds it a bit ugly, doesn't abject when Iris builds fortress walls around them to keep them safe, maybe just spiffs up her watch towers a little bit.

I’m just here trying to sleep after a long week (I know it’s only Wednesday but I am stressed and I wanted to quit my job on Monday so it’s a long week) and I’m thinking about Dustin’s birthday. Specifically his seventeenth. And maybe it’s not on the exact day, but around there, and it hits him out of nowhere
He’s the same age Steve was when a bunch of kids were shoved at him and he was told to keep them safe. He’s the same age Steve was when he almost died doing that multiple times on the same night. He’s the same age Steve was and he doesn’t think he’s even remotely prepared to handle a group of kids and doesn’t think he could have been brave enough to fight a bunch of demodogs or billy when he was spitting mad and then gotten up and gone into the tunnels afterwards.
And he looks at Steve now, more mellow, softer around the edges, with friends his own age and his bitching far more playful and affectionate with them, with his glasses and his failing hearing and sometimes anger because of those things but no regrets.
He looks at him and wants to cry because he doesn’t know how Steve did it. He doesn’t know how Steve was so brave and strong then when he was arguably still sort of an asshole and didn’t even know them aside from knowing who they were. Because that night was the first night they’d even spoken, but Steve had jumped right back in despite how they all knew he’d tried to pretend it never happened.
He looks at his brother and doesn’t understand how he’d so easily been there for them back then because trying to imagine himself in his place it just makes him feel overwhelming panic.
Because that’s when it hits
Steve was a kid too. He was just a kid, but he’d seemed like an adult to him, had carried himself with the confidence of adulthood even when Dustin knew now that it was bravado.
He thinks about the year before, when Steve had fought his first monster and been even younger. And maybe he wasn’t the youngest, that was Erica’s privilege, but he’d still been a kid and they’d all forgotten that because it was Steve, who took on the mantle of protector and carried it like a badge of honor even now.
And he hugs him, of course he does, and when they talk, they both cry a little, because Steve can finally admit how he’d felt back then, how he’d felt so out of his depth but didn’t want the kids to see his fear because he needed to be brave
Just lots of sappy thoughts about childhood and loss and moving on knowing that you were allowed to be scared when you thought you couldn’t
Tumblr media
KAT YOU GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW. I'M SCREAMING AND CRYING! I'm gonna lose my MIND. I'm gonna climb the WALLS. I'm gonna FLY into the SUN! this is SO IMPORTANT to me now, I'm never going to not think about this, this is critical to their relationship now and I'm never going to see it any other way.
if you write it, I'll podfic it. I swear, this just flipped some switch in my brain, I'm obsessed.

"Out of Spite" The Nine Sols AU TEDtalk time. The Path of Trials, part 2
Quick reminder what this is post about: All of the Sols saved by Yi need to go trough a trial, tied to their biggest flaw or fear. Two key figures to help them on a spiritual journey is Yi himself and ShuanShuan!
Sols will redeem themselfs, but only some aspect of them change a little. This path of redemption exist not to abolish their sins to apeman or fellow solarians, no.
This is their way to clear karma to oneself, before they join the great tao... or will they?
3. Jiequan - " Trial of Agony"
Listen, guys like Jiequan...well...they can be redeemed. This is their kind of shtick. He is a sadomasachist and this needs more then help from his friends (he also doesn't have any and would NOT listen to any advise!). However, what I like to do with this type of character is giving them a chance to socialize. This is my genuine belief that giving a murderous character a friend circle they can socialize with is a way to show them that they ARE able to act differently. And they will be rewarded for it.
Yet still, Jiequan for me is not that level of bad (not Overlord mtmte level of bad). I think at this point he might learn how to interact with people normally still... i don't think he would change much. Remove his obsessive behaviour - and this is not Jiequan anymore.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jiequan life is always about to proving a point to someone, troughtout all means nessesery. To prove that he can revive the Jie Kingdom. To prove that he is strong. To prove that you deserve your place at the palace, as the Jie heir.
In his childhood the only way to prove that you worth something is violence. Violence is the only way he resolved all of the problems. Not matter was he enduring it or doing it. It was a way to show that you are strong. That you are the leader. To make people respect you. To listen to you. To bring their attention to you.
Jiequan was a lonely kid. The weak kid. Now? He's no more.
He learnd to love violence. When he was a kid, he tried to prove that he would be а better ruler, he would guide Jie Kingdom to the former glory not only through war campains, but through other means. He endured one beating under the other, always managing to stand back. He survived the pain.
Then he embraced it.
He learnd that many of his peers don't understand the way of words. Only the way of pain. You change or you die, so is the life's rule.
And he changed. He changed all right!
He suffered only to become stronger. Every faliure, every drop of his blood and sweat is a way to become a stronger man. He suffered only to bring pain to his enemies. And enemies of his was the enemies of the Jie.
The pain teached him that he should never give up. The pain is effective way to communicate to everyone because all of the living beings understand it. Well, not like him. They don't learn from the pain, they don't understand that life is an embodiment of the agony itself. And heroes are forged in agony.
Vital interaction with Yi: Yi... Yi understands Jiequan. He feel no guilt over using apeman as a power resource. Yi is rejecting the comfort, working himself hard. He is willing to do anything that matters, if it will secure survival of their race. Jiequan liked that in men.
Yi was a living example of his philoshophy. Everyone turned blind eye to his cold cruelty, they liked the guy anyway. Not that much, yeah, but he had his trusted circle of friends and admirers. Eigong, his mentor, was proud of him. He had a loving family. Colleagues are listening to his advice.
Yet Yi was looking a him with disdain. One night they had a chance to talk about the affect of suffering on brains. It's the fisrt time Yi ever talked to him properly, listend to him. It was a good debate, almost civil, when Yi acknowledged that Jiequan has a point. Started non-stop talking about brain research and whatnot. The more Jiequan listen the more he taught that he was right all along. That severe pain makes people think clearer, show who they really are underneath this facade of a person. He wondered: How Yi looked under his coat of cold blood?
It was point of no return, because this is where his obsession with Yi started to grow big. Jiequan wanted to disect him, simultaneously make the man worse and better at the same time. Bring him pain, make him to finally understand how it would change Yi. Make Yi acknoweledge him. Understand his pain.
And when the opportunity came, after 500 years of trying to piss of Yi for good, he did exactly that. He showed Yi the way of the pain. He saw his eyes burning with hate and agony. This was THE moment of his life. Point of no return.
Yet, the result of the torture was...strange. He expected Yi to fight like a beast (and he did so!), but not to...show mercy. Yi said that he's not like Jiequan and tried to prove it. Still, they both know what he did to poor Goumang.
Yi is a cruel, selfish man. They are alike. Jiequan never stopped to prove this to Yi even after his rescue. Even after he brought little birdie to the pavilion. He even brought the Feng girl, whos only good use was being a money bag for his endless endeavours. Heck, he didn't thought that asking to say hi to old guoshi would grant him an opportunity to do that himself.
And Yi? He tried his best to prove Jiequan wrong. Being patient with him, not breaking his legs when he convinced Abacus that he can be of use. Jiequan even worked with fucking Kuafu (who was strangely happy that "such a cool guy" needs his services, ugh) to make for Yi new rhizomatic weapons. Yi thought Jiequan training with him was a ploy. Made Yi to drop his guard to stab him in a back, because by surviving the fight Jiequan "lost his honour" or some shit.
What Yi didn't like that he enjoyed beathing Jiequan to a pulp. Their trainings were bloody, messy and kind of extatic. After their spars Yi felt himself calmer, strangely calmer. Like they both quench their thirst for blood for a present moment, only to surprise each other next time.
Yi didn't catch the exact time he would offer to help to tend Jiequans wounds. The man always was going to the highest point of pavilion to lick his wounds. Saying that this' but a scratch. Still, asking was worth it. Jiequan looked at him like a scared deer on the road. He refused Yi's attemps to help, quitely bleeding in his corner. Looking like a man on the bring of the death, but strangly happy.
He didn't notice when they became closer, enjoying more quiter moments. When Jiequan tried to sooth his pain, bandage his wounds, saying that it must be hurt everytime to return from the dead, maybe he should kiss it better to...
Wait, what the-
Vital interaction with ShuanShuan: I think at first Jiequan saw ShuanShuan as a tool. A mean to get closer to Yi, his get free from jail card. He really did convince Ruyi that he can teach kid how to defend himself.
ShuanShuan was...reluctant. Their training often ended in agrument that apeman child can make people wish to not fight with him. It turned worse when Yi slipped up and said that thanks to Jiequan Yi stopped to beat bad guy's up and brought more friends (that kid obviously adored). It made Jiequan pissed but he can do nothing about it, because if something happened with little brat Yi would bring down all of the New Kunlun with him. Besides there was a little problem. When kid get hurt he started to cry and Jiequan just...starred at him. He was confused. Jiequan long forgot how is it to cry when you feel the pain. Pain of failing, pain of loosing someone, pain of rejection. It's like... it didn't hurt anymore. Or so he convinced himself.
Because everytime Jiequan fights with Yi ends, ShuanShuan is gently tugging his pants and asks: Does this hurt? Jiequan smiles and says that it's not, he'll manage. Kid was in fact the first who offered him compassion, despite Jiequan hurting Yi. Who seen him nervously waithing for root node to spat ot Yi's bruised body. Share their quiet moments, talking (more like barking at each other, but bickering and being annoying is his way to show affection) or reading toghether. Of how Jiequan follows Yi like a shadow, trying to pry emotions out of him.
One day he lets kid stay. Sleep beside him, while Jiequan trying to stop blood gushing out of his guts.
He might understand why Yi is so protective over the kid. He might understand that maybe, just maybe, it hurts when he sees Ji playin with ShuanShuan more often, then with him in his childhood. It hurts when Yi let someone touch him gently, but not him. It pains him to be alone. It pains there is no one to ease the agony. Both his and Yi's.
They are the same. Isolating themselfs from the others to lick their wounds alone. Jiequan hoped that enduring the pain will make him a better person when, in fact, well, it just isolated him. Sometimes pain is just a pain, it just leaves a scar that never stop hurting. It hurts like hell to be alone.
He wants to be comforted and understood. He wants someone - no, Yi - to tend his wounds. He yearns for Yi to touch him out of the battle, to acknowledge his suffering and say that Yi...that Yi... that Yi loves him. The way he is.
So, he will suffer for Yi. Leaving bloody trail of Dusk Guards behind him, so Yi's path become little easier. So the only person to draw Yi's blood would be Jiequan himself. Enemies won't tend Yi's wounds but he will. He will be the only pain Yi needs to expirience in his life EVER. It's his way of protecting Yi. Besides... Yi is the only one who will make Jiequan's pain feel a little bearable.
4. Ji - " Trial of Apathy"
Before we start talkin about Ji let's get one thing clear: I support the headcanon that Ji was somewhat of the parental figure to Jiequan. This will play a role in this au, so, please keep this information in your head. And also, I belive that at somepoint Ji left Jiequan, probably when he was 15 or 18 y.o. to live in Grotto. ____________________________________________________
Ji lived a long life. Maybe, someone less apathetic to the twists and turns of solarian history would say he had a very exciting life. He's a living piece of history, witnessing the rise and end of the empire of Jie, being on both sides of the war in Turbulent Era. He saw the rise of taosism. He saw the new era of technological advansments on the bring of their civilization last breath. He saw death. He saw life. How people he loved come and go, leaving their mark in history of Penglai, but all of them end up joining tao when the day comes. He mourned, at first. He cried, he felt his heart skip a beat everytime hexagramm shown a grimm future of his loved ones.
Then, he stopped to care. He is not just a seer, but a scribe. Scribes are humble observers of the world. Collecting and preserving history, though, Ji always found it humorous. Doesn't scribes tell story through their own perspective? Well, that was a reason he never became a scribe himself.
Why should he? He is just a "lucky guy". He never wished to live that long or forsee future. He never wanted to build an empire or have his own guild. So, he became a silent observer of life, but, he never found a reason to stay and enjoy it. Not anymore. What people call time is just passing by, like a river that flushed every year no matter was there Ji to witness it or not.
He grew tired of life. It was always twisting and turning, but he lost interest in it long ago. The people he loved are no more here, only remnants of them exist in the books of history. And even this remnants are twisting and turning trough the time and lense of the ones who tells the stories of the past.
Truth is: he's a coward. He could end it a long time ago but he was too apathetic to save someone, what about himself. So, he just waited in Grotto. Writing about memories of the past. Preserving what's left of the Lear's and Jietong's legacies.
Vital interaction with Yi: When the Yi arrives to the Grotto, Ji offers him an insight into the future. Ji sees their battle but not the ending of it. It's unclear. What he see is his own shocked face.
And so, when the time comes Yi refuses to finish his job. He says that someone is waiting for him at the pavilion of Four Seasons. Yi says...that Jiequan waiting for him. Alive and well.
And so, the hexagramm was right. His face, after all those years show his shock, because when he checks the fate of his student, the kid he help to raise, he's death...changed. No longer by the hand of Yi but... well. That is interesting.
Ji smiles. He remembers a sertain someone also was able fool his hexagramms. Yi is reminded him of an old friend so...he might stay. Just for a little longer.
Vital ineraction with ShuanShuan: At the pavilion Ji doing the same as in Grotto. Studying others. Observing how they ineract with each other. Living they daily and monotone lives. It's peaceful, like a meditation. Sometimes he even feel nostalgic when Yi and Jiequan yelling and pining at each other. But he is unaware that someone observing... HIM! Kids are curious by nature and so is ShuanShuan. They just silently observe each other from afar, until the day Yi and Ji having yet another late night philosophical debate. ShuanShuan joining them, saying that they both are the two sides of the same coin. They both can't enjoy what life gives them, cherish it and accept that all people must go one day. That it will always hurt to loose. Ji smiles. Kid is smart for his age and very empathetic. It almost like he magicly can read people like an open book.
And so, Ji start thinking. Then talking to ShuanShuan more, giving him one life riddle after the other, discussing it and debating. They both playing with hexagramm predictions, but it seems like ShuanShuan is actually not taking them seriously. Not because he is not beliving in it, no, quite the opposite. It's just... kid belive that fate is not set in stone. He don't care much about future, living a moment and enjoying company of his new big found family.
Getting more comfortable in pavilion make him pick up the pen again and start writing. Kid is also intrested in it, always watching how Ji's pen making simple words in a beautiful construction of sentences. He practicly pealds Ji to teach him how to write like a proper man of the letters. One day, ShuanShuan propose Ji idea of starting a personal journals and share their notes every evening. When they finally finished their reports ShuanShuan is counfused. With the child's proximity he asks: Why there is nothing written about Ji. Not feelings, not even what happened with him. Why collect notes about others life? This is not what ShuanShuan wanted, he wants to know what happend to Ji, not around the pavilion. He wants to know what he thinks, what he likes, who he cares about. He wants a glimpse of his life.
ShuanShuan says that he's not blaming Ji. Kid thinks Ji's just scared to open up because death hurt him. He understands that feeling, but says, the people around is what make pain sooth a little. They will never replace the ones you loved, but they can bring you joy and happiness too.
Ji laughs. Kid is right. He become so passive that he forgot about himself. Slowly dying inside, becoming the living corpse of a man. Library of the memories and nothing more. Maybe he needs to actually talk to the fellow Sols more. Become friends. And embrace his connections to people.
Still, he can't stop looking at his hexagramms. Asking again and again the same question: How he would die? And the hexagramm only showing him a puddle of blood.
When he asks about the others the hexagramms are adamant they will die. And the New Kunlun will go with them.
He know who will survive and who will die, yet, his own fate is unknown. It's like the hexagramms saying to him that, in fact, he is the one who should decide how his own life ends.
Death is always a surprise, after all. So, until then, he will wait - not in the way of stillness, but making it a last story to tell to his dearest friends - Jietong and Lear - when he too join the great Tao. His own story.
Next time, we will talk about the endings of this au. Feel free to ask me anything about this au, I would gladly answer to you!

Been finally getting around to resuming my second isat playthrough and just noticed smth. During act two. After you get past the door that needs the key from floor two. If you call loop in the two following what next dialogues Siffrin doesn't say anything and it just occurred to me it's probably because he's feeling the dread™ of the rapidly approaching end. Head in hands.

silly hypothetical question: if you could turn your ocs (any characters) story into any medium perfectly to your liking, what medium would you choose?
Hi Sosa!! Oh this is such a fun question ty for asking it!!
I know for sure that Awol’s story would fit really well into a short film, since I feel like it’s contained enough and stretching it out via a longer visual media like a movie would be more of a detriment than a help. I think Awol’s story would be fun to play around with in animation, in my mind I’d see her story done in a style like Scavenger’s Reign. That show has such great animation and there are some graphic violence scenes that I think have the same energy as how I imagine Awol’s own scene with the storch she killed in her tunnel. I also think there wouldn’t be a lot of dialogue in this short since it also fits her very quiet nature. I think layout wise it’d kind of go like
Activation + being a normal ARAR unit -> degradation and her interesting in painting -> some scenes of her stuff getting confiscated/cleaned out etc with maybe a moment of her cadre -> discovery of the abandoned tunnel and some fun scenes of her just absolutely going wild -> other RTS units stumbling upon her tunnel when she’s not there -> Storch sent down to clean it as punishment for some misbehavior or other (I think this would be the most dialogue, her just receiving her orders and then complaining) -> Awol returning to her now barren sanctuary and seeing the storch -> brutal fight between the two that ends with Awol killing her -> closes with Awol painting the walls again and maybe the dead storch still in the shot bc I think that would go hard -> fin.
Tumblr media
The next story that I definitely have a clear idea for would be the VDF-5’s whole ordeal told through a primarily Hollenhund POV as an animated show. Tbh if I could have all of my characters animated in the style of arcane I would in fact keel over and die from joy and I fear my answer for some other concepts style wise would also be this choice due to my personal tastes but I’m trying to think of what would best suit each story over what I just like. That being said the VDF-5 story I absolutely would love in studio Fortiche’s arcane style because I think the mix of animated expressiveness as well as the realism of how people look would be really good for the overall tone of the hypothetical show. I think the 2d elements of the style would be fun to explore in a sci-fi setting and it’d be perfect for fight scenes between characters as well.
Tumblr media
As for the actual layout of the show (otherwise this might turn into gushing abt arcane’s style oops) I’d want it contained to one season. I just think it works well as a self contained story told in 45-60 min episodes. Also Sosa I am gonna get to ur ask abt Hollenhund so I will be yapping about her more in that 😭 but if it was told from her POV primarily I think the episode layout would look something like being divided by the first chunk being much earlier and letting us see Schrott in her prime during the war and her losing her cadre, Hollenhund at her Vinetan facility, and Essig and Honig’s early friendship and assignment to the VDF-5 -> time skip and all four of our main players are brought together on the VDF-5, Schrott as her wretched present self with Hollenhund under her wing, and then the friendship of Honig and Hollenhund (man I need to make a relationship chart I fear) and seeing Essig starting to crack under the strain of commanding her ship -> final chunk showing increasing tensions between our players as well as with external issues, until the imperial blockade finally beats the ship. I’m not explaining it the best right now but ideally I’d want to highlight war (war bad basically lol) and focus on replikas who were products for war, and were neglected as individuals. I swear it’s all so much clearer in my head 😭
Moving on to Kosmos and Dorredt, I think the medium that’d best suit their story would be a video game! Specifically an exploration type one, I’d imagine it having the cozy and adventurous vibes of a game like slime rancher while having gameplay that let you play as both Kosmos and Dorredt, letting you control both of them and having them work together during outer space adventures (like categorizing asteroids or mining from them, exploring, outside ship repair, etc) as well as inside ship tasks like tending to the hydroponics or more maintenance, etc. That’d be the gameplay all while narratively you’d be exploring Kosmos and Dorredt as characters and “helping” their relationship grow over time. Ideally I’d want it to be a bittersweet sort of end with the game coming to a close after receiving a transmission from AEON potentially/not hearing anything at all -> the two of them essentially living out their service lives until both Kosmos and Dorredt can’t function like they used to and eventually die, abandoned by AEON (sorryyyy 😔). I’d want it to be a really sweet and cute game but yeah also with that slightly depressing undertone. I also think that having something like cutscenes in a cute anime type style would be really fun as one of the ways to do storytelling in it. Visually for the rest of the game though I’d imagine it in a more low poly cute style like earlier pokemon games maybe? Something that’d give a nod back to signalis at least. Also could you imagine how cute 2d dialogue sprites of the girls would be 🥹
Last but not least, Holt and Wanze! I really struggled to think of something for them but I wanted to, and ultimately I think a 45-60 minute per episode single season show would also work really well for them. I think animation would be really fun to play with especially when it comes to bioresonance and a look inside Wanze’s mind. Style wise I think I’d want it to be something like The Lovers trailer for them as replikas
Tumblr media
Plot wise I have a clearer idea just because I’ve had them and their story longer but I think it’d start with setting up Holt becoming a senior medical replika at sierpinski + Wanze and her role as a kolibri -> Wanze then losing her bioresonance and freaking out after Holt patches her up -> their ensuing strained patient and caretaker relationship to the weird one sided dependency -> their friendship and mutual crushes and eventual romantic relationship -> the flesh and holt’s death with it ending on Wanze alive and alone. As well as throughout the show seeing the background happenings of sierpinski and Holt and Wanze’s relationships to characters like Sieben, Adler, and the rest of the kolibri cadre, etc. I think vibe wise it’d be kinda dark both in terms of aesthetic due to well. Sierpinski. But also the looming threat throughout the show of degradation and ensuing decommission and how Wanze is on extremely thin ice throughout as she struggles with everything.
Now if I did their human AU I’d still love to have it as a show, but in the style of an older anime like Monster (fitting considering the hospital/doctor stuff lmao) or maybe studio ghibli (AUGH old lady Holt in ghibli style. I’m gonna explode)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plot wise I think that one would be less grim atmospherically but it would still be depressing as hell in the end. It’d go similarly with Wanze injury (I’d imagine human AU she’d be like knight AU and lose an eye maybe) -> holt patch up -> the difference in this show would be that Holt and Wanze wouldn’t have to keep their romantic relationship hidden to stay alive so there’d be a lot more slice of life sweet moments -> Holt getting diagnosed with brain cancer and not telling Wanze for a while so they can keep living happily -> Holt’s decline as the tumor affects her memory and motor control -> her death in this AU too. I think vibe wise this would be a lot more lighthearted and fluffy when it comes to the two of them.

How did you manage to handle not one, but FOUR separate accounts in fl? I recently made the account for my HD little guy but having to do the tutorial again just seems miserable
there's... weirdly several answers to that question, actually??
a HUGE part of it is due to the way FL is structured. the 10-minute action timer is a core part of the game on a fundamental level, and the fact that i can very easily run out of stuff to do on one character and thus have an excuse to quickly and easily swap to another is just... convenient? satisfying? i'm not entirely sure how to explain it. the fact that i can make progress even while i am fundamentally simultaneously Not Making Progress is like pure dopamine for my freak insane awful little brain. there's just something really pleasing about spending all of my actions pursuing The Goal Of The Day™ on one account before casually swapping to another and doing the same without feeling like i'm wasting time or acting to the first account's explicit detriment. the downtime helps! the recharge time helps! the structure really really works!!
i'm technically only actively playing three, maybe two accounts minimum. the only reason the fourth (the one that'll be my future BaL playthrough) currently exists at all is so i can get his earlygame completely out of the way now and not have to waste time running through it all later, when what i actually want to do is play the ambition i've made myself wait a full year to play. and also getting free goodies as seasonal stuff happens,, something something surprise tools to help us later. the only two accounts i'd say i'm really "actively playing" at the moment are caeru and lark- and of the two, lark takes the most priority, since his ambition is the one i'm currently pursuing in earnest. for a couple months now- despite being My Main FL Character- the scoundrel has actually been pretty inactive on a gameplay front outside of the occasional progression in TLC and discordance content. purely by virtue of having Very little left to do outside of Very long-term grinds and vanities. they're in their "now what?" "now you can start playing the game" era. they've graduated to previous protagonist background cameo in a sequel anime series. they're like the yin FLPC equivalent of red at the top of mount silver. they're Literally just vibing rn. i only keep posting about them regardless because i'm insane and i will never ever ever ever ever let that bat go. but yeah, big TLDR, outside of doing the bare minimum to keep making waves/notability up every week, i'm not actually spending that much time on accounts i'm not currently actively interested in playing. and that accounts for way more gaming spoons than you might think.
i have a virtually lifelong history of playing MMOs, especially and specifically world of warcraft. i was born in the endless grind for useless video game pixel vanities and/or bragging rights. molded by it. you all have merely adapted to doing the same piece of content a pointlessly excessive amount of times for literally no reason besides whimsy and folly. me? i've done my time. i've served my sentence. i've spent weeks doing the original burning crusade netherwing dailies. i've devoted days to running praetorium over and over and over again, back-to-back, nonstop, long before square enix cut it in half and made it NOT take at minimum an hour and a half per run. i've perfected my silverwastes + auric basin goldfarming strategies. i've (almost) crafted dragonwrath tarecgosa's rest. i've killed the sha of anger so many times its dying scream of agony is embedded into the very fabric of my being. ""only"" doing making your name content four times over? that is nothing to me. it means nothing to me. it is so infinitesimal i can do the persuasive seduction quests in my sleep. it's not a matter of handling misery, or having the capacity, or even sighing as i remember the brass embassy raid segment of the watchful questline seriously i don't know why i keep forgetting that exists or what even is my problem with it i just am so consistently mildly inconvenienced by it and its highly specific resource requirements and it is the worst thing ever. maybe i'm just so used to the scoundrel's near-infinite money and troves of disposable items that i've completely forgotten what being poor is like. despite having done that step 3 fucking times now. ahem. anyway. i have transcended the feeble mortal bindings of my resistant-to-grinding flesh and ascended to a higher plane of enlightenment, they may call me insane but they will be the ones left laughing when they see what that "insanity" has wrought, i've usurped them, i've usurped them all-
hacks and coughs and awkwardly clears my throat. i mean. uh. um. Ahem.
the empress' court artistry + tales of the university nerfs helped too.
#and yes#before you ask#i have forgotten which account has which items/has done which content many a time#i think the most painful incident was forgetting to keep up the scoundrel's making waves while i was still playing nemesis with caeru#given that im trying to build it up to 12 and reset their specialization... that was uniquely painful#then again they have like 40 BDR so it wasnt actually that inconveniencing lmao#fallen london#ask#long post#sorry for the infodump + sudden villain monologue.#all jokes and personal accounts aside i totally get the apprehension abt doing that stuff again#it's not for everyone. not by a long shot.#im only doing this because im genuinely invested and in love with this silly little browser game#and way back when i started i made a (only half metaphorical) solemn oath to experience all of its ''main stories''#and truly see everything it has to offer#(bc i like. physically cant do hyperfixations by halves. i need to consume Everything abt the thing or i'll explode)#(and even then i'll probably explode anyway. it's either completely drop it or go All In until it stops taking up so much space in my brain#(and. given the track record. that is not happening with FL for a while yet)#but like. that isnt actually normal behavior. just. just to clarify.#from what ive seen a VAST majority of people do not go out of their way to play literally every ambition#and that is so valid. it is so overwhelming. you have to juggle so much.#you have to play the earlygame So Many Goddamn Times.#(as i said. served my time. did my sentence. i am my scars. etc etc)#the best advice i can give as someone who's so completely desensitized to that repetition it doesnt even phase me anymore?#the same advice i can stress to all FL players. legitimately just take ur time with it. play when you want to.#dont when you dont.#sometimes you have to grit your teeth and bear things. and when it comes to alts you Will have to grit your teeth and bear it all again#but the beauty of this being a game that one plays for fun is that unlike. say. crushing deadlines or annoying coworkers in real life#you are completely within your power to decide when where and if you want to grit and bear it all#..wow this is ADVANCED yin rambling holy shit. i actually reached the tag limit. i think this ask should be put on some kind of list

How would the SVE adventurers and mages react to the fact that the Farmer gave peace to the shadow people by bringing the souls of their loved ones to them? We see Magnus and Marlon be very confused about why the shadow people are acting so weird (I.E not attacking anymore), so how would they and the others feel about getting the news that the Farmer just... casually brought peace between the shadow people and humans just because they could? (Also, sorry if I'm flooding your inbox too much I just really like your content-)
Please don't ever feel like you're flooding here. I'm always happy to see you and others in my askbox ☺️💕 Thanks so much for the question, hope you enjoy it!
Be warned - this post is so, so long....
_________________________________________
Absolutely everyone has noticed a change in the behavior of the shadow people..... In the mines of the Stardew Valley, in the Highland caves, even in the Crimson Baldlans. Everywhere this civilization resided, great changes had taken place.
A topic that became a furor for all the inhabitants of the magical world. The young monster hunters in the recent reports that the shadow shamans, instead of their usual aggression towards them, had simply... retreated. Where? Why? Mages have been discussing for days now that they have stopped noticing shadow people at all in their raids.
All of this did not go unnoticed, and the Ministry of Magic along with the Order of Pythagoras became very worried because of such a drastic change in the monsters' behavior. The Guild heads and the First wizard and witches already called several secret meetings in a row to find out who or what caused this event.
Farmer's friends and acquaintances were also there, puzzling over whether this was a dark plan by a renegade mage to gather an army of shadow people to storm the Crimson Badlands, or an initiative by the shadow people themselves in retaliation to humanity for past wrongs?
Few people realized later that it was enough to ask a young and chaotic farmer to find out the truth about all this...
_________________________________________
Aside from his complete willingness to protect people at the cost of his own life, Lance admits that all the fuss has sparked a genuine curiosity and desire to capture all the details in his book. He still considers the shadow people to be something more than a bunch of mindless and ruthless monsters and hopes that he won't have to spill anyone else's blood. If the pink-haired adventurer is lucky, maybe he can figure out what's going on with shadow people and finish his book.
Whatever the top wizards and adventurers accept, Alesia prepares for a fight. The battle sniper will start training the young warriors of Castle Village even harder, check all the positions of the main wall protecting the settlement, give orders to replenish the arsenal with all weapons, organize shelters in case of irreparable situation.... All hard work, for the sake of saving the people Alesia swore to defend to the last drop of blood.
If the adventurers under Alesia's command had a hard time with the increased training, then for those with Isaac as their boss, the following days became a living hell. No rest, no indulgences. "The monsters will not give you a second to rest or to be weak. Focus!" - was a phrase that had become imprinted on young minds during the training. But Isaac can be understood: he does everything he can to ensure that his charges can defend themselves and others. He doesn't spare himself either: training - sleep, training - sleep. That's his schedule for now.
Jolyne was serious about training her Guild members not only in the use of weapons, but also in battle magic. She has no doubts about Lance's ability to defend himself, but the wise woman worries for the safety of the younger members of The First Slash Clan. Especially if the source of the threat turns out to be the Gotoro Empire, it will be her Guild that will receive the first and most powerful blow from the enemy on the other side of the Gem Sea... So Jolyne can't afford to relax.
While everyone is making a fuss about the shadow people, Camilla has been using all her connections in the magical and non-magical worlds to find out what happened and where. Since the head witch doesn't want to cause any more panic (and also doesn't want the conservative old farts in the Ministry to get in her way), she has quietly begun her search for the cause of the monsters' behaviour. While her own search for the truth began, Camilla quietly poured herself some tea and snacked on sweets, smiling and pretending to take it lightly again so that she would be left alone.
Jadu will sit in the front rows of the meetings and listen to every word of the magicians of the highest rank. He is excited and intrigued - it has been a long time since such a large-scale event, covered with mystery, has taken place in history. And the young mage promised himself to be the first to solve this mystery! Naturally, people's safety is paramount, but Jadu, if possible, won't miss a chance to learn something new about monster behaviour or maybe even a new spell.
Magnus and Marlon were not as excited as the young Castle Village mage. Old and wise, they know for a fact that none of this can bode well. The one-eyed adventurer has sunk even further into depressed thoughts after the day he discovered in the mines that the behavior of the shadow people has changed drastically. Marlon is also worried about the young Guild member, lest they get into trouble because of all this. Magnus, on the other hand, is fully immersed in theories about what this could mean and who might be involved, but also supporting Marlon's concern for Farmer's safety. They're also worried about Krobus's safety, and wondering how to discreetly hide them from the Order when-
Krobus! Of course! And why didn't they immediately realize to ask their shadow friend?
_________________________________________
Leaving the meeting unnoticed, Marlon and Magnus instantly teleported to the sewers beneath Pelican Town, accidentally scaring poor Krobus in the process. After apologising, the purple-haired wizard and the one-eyed adventurer began to ask about what had happened to the shadow people?
''Oh, didn't the Farmer tell you? We made peace. Can you believe this? Peace, finally... With the humans. I didn't think I'd ever see it, but my people are no longer fighting your people. We have a chance to become friends, all thanks to the kindness and endeavour of our friend Farmer. How happy I am!"
Except that it couldn't be said that after hearing this, the old men's faces directly shone with joy. Of course, they both breathed a sigh of relief at the realization that there was no secret conspiracy here, and peace in general after years of confrontation between humans and shadow people. But the fact that Farmer hadn't told anyone about it made them angry. Very angry.
Oh, here comes the culprit of the celebration and all this chaos! Farmer had deigned to come down to the sewers, wanted to treat Krobus to a pumpkin. Except that the young troublemaker didn't expect to see their mentors.... with furious expression. In a moment, Marlon had grabbed Farmer by the collar of their shirt, while Wizard with a snap of his fingers, had moved all three of them into his tower, leaving a confused Krobus with a pumpkin alone.
When Magnus teleported in the tower, he had time to call all the people he had decided to tell for the outcome of the incident. Marlon let go of the frightened Farmer, and barely suppressed the urge to lightly slap them upside the head. He was proud of his apprentice and fellow Guild member's achievement, but not to tell anyone about the peace while everyone else was pissing themselves from stress and training. Even though Farmer didn't know what was happening in Castle Village and elsewhere, it didn't negate the fact that it was their duty to report such important events.
Farmer's familiars teleported over to them in a little less than a minute: first Camilla, as always the first to learn about the news, followed later by Lance and Jolyne, and then Alesia, Isaac, and Jadu.
Magnus decided not to feel sorry for the Farmer this time:
"Well, young one. Is there anything you want to tell us?"
Everyone turned their eyes to Farmer, who craned their head into his shoulders from the scrutiny. Sighing tiredly, the Farmer began their story..... The only difference, though, was not to mention Krobus, so as not to expose their friend to danger, and Magnus and Marlon were grateful for that. But outwardly they didn't show it.
_________________________________________
When Farmer finished their story, there was a heavy silence. With an indignant half-cry of "What?!" Isaac was the first to break the silence. It didn't take long for the profanity to be hurled in the direction of the careless adventurer who had taken their duties so lightly and failed to report for peace with the shadow people. Isaac was angry, furious. So many days of training to learn such truth? Sure, he wouldn't want unnecessary violence and blood, but what the fuck does the Farmer allow themself!
Alesia was more well mannered, but also spoke out with annoyance at Farmer's lack of seriousness about their duties. They should have immediately reported to the head of the Guild or other senior adventurers first. But they didn't think it was important. A serious lapse in discipline.
To be honest - Jadu wasn't as angry as he was intrigued at what the Farmer had done. Peace? With shadow people? That's so exciting! A whole historical event, and when the others are done with their scolding Farmer, Jadu is sure to ask Farmer so many questions about current event.
Lance breathed a sigh of relief as he realised that there was no dire danger. At least not yet. The only one of them to smile sympathetically at Farmer as they blushed under the onslaught of scolding. He, like Jadu, is very interested in asking Farmer questions about how they were able to accomplish what people in the past couldn't. Farmer is a true peacemaker, and Lance bows to the heroism and bravery of the young adventurer. But praise will come later, now it is scolding, for this could have ended in injury, or even death, for Farmer.
Jolyne, on the other hand, decided to cross her arms and watch Farmer blush with a predatory smile. Camilla joined the head of The First Slash and silently watched this funny situation. What was interesting was that both Jolyne and Camilla had guessed Farmer's involvement even before Magnus and Marlon left the meeting, back then. Camilla's connections pointed to Farmer having become suddenly involved in soul gathering at Crimson Baldlans more recently. While Jolyne had seen Farmer leaving the Mines the day the shadow people's behaviour changed. She had been visiting Marlon then, and hadn't paid much attention to Farmer. She should have. Well, all is well now, and she and Camilla are enjoying the comedic situation.
Magnus and Marlon have the last word, as the official mentors of the most chaotic Farmer in the entire world. Farmer were the most unpleasant to listen to their chastisement, with a face the colour of a tomato.
But after the heavy scolding, both mentors thanked Farmer for their exploit, not forgetting to say how proud they were of them. This made the Farmer's mind go even further into a stupor. Even though Farmer had not intentionally created this chaos, and the fact that it could have ended badly for them, none of the people present dared to deny the fact that Farmer had once again done the impossible and that they were grateful for this peace. Everyone agreed with Marlon and Magnus's words, even the grumpy Isaac, and asked that in the future if anything happened, to let them know.
So much for the life and adventures of the disaster Farmer...

Violetthepixie
Yes. I am full (user) naming you @violetthepixie. You know what you did. Where's the decency? The humanity? ...Monster-anity? The Dadster and the Sanster universes must never interact.
This is sheer cruelty for all the characters involved! The embarrassment! The horror! It's terrible! Awful! An absolutely brilliant idea!!!! I love it!!! Let's get to it! :D
For anyone that's curious, I'll break down the AUs Vi mentioned and some background after the cut before I get into how they would interact!
The following content contains spoilers for my fics and series. Warning: The following contains mention of Sanster (Sans/Gaster) between two unrelated adults. They aren't even the same species. However, it may reference: Abduction, de-humanization, abuse, and other unsettling topics.
Sea Glass: Upon consulting with Vi (the one who asked) I will be replacing this Gaster with How To: Gaster, as Sea Glass Gaster doesn't really exist. And not in the "yeeted from the universe" way, and more in the "I literally have no backstory for him" way.
How To: Underfell Gaster. He's a hardass, but when you get past his prickly exterior, he's actually a good person. He disguises all his acts of kindness with insults, and hired Sans so he could keep a better eye on him and Papyrus. He never got the chance to adopt his Sans and Papyrus before he fell into his creation, but he sees them as his sons.
You can see more information bout him in this ask. We'll call him "Boss."
Pirate!AU: The former royal scientist and retired pirate captain who now lives with his hot tavernkeeper boyfriend and their raccoon. He adopted his sons, Sans and Papyrus when they were kids, and they are now the ones that are in charge of the Sail la Vie (his former ship). There was never a barrier in this world.
You can read more about him here: [1] and [2] (this is a oneshot about him and Grillby.) We'll call him "Pyre."
Heart on the Table (HotT): An absolute softy, and canon-compliant Undertale Gaster. He adopted his sons, and while he was clumsy with parenting at first, he loves them with his entire soul. He fell into his creation when Papyrus was still a kid and Sans a young adult.
However, his story didn't end there. A large portion of his soul actually got trapped outside of the barrier where he roamed, unable to be seen or heard or touched. ...Until he met Frisk! Whom he immediately adopted. As of right now in the series, he's trapped outside the barrier while Frisk is Underground. (well... at least most of him is trapped out there.) For the purpose of this ask, it will take post-reunion (with minimal series spoilers regarding how that will happen)
You can read more about him in the Finding Home series. We'll call him "Wings."
Lamiatale (Aka "Mr. Snake Smoocher (bald edition)): And this is where the problems start. This description is going to be longer to the others because there is no content posted for it yet on my tumblr or ao3.
All the other Gasters so far are good people. This Gaster... is not. He's a human scientist with a craving for knowledge and recognition.
He runs and operates Ebott Zoo - the only zoo in the world to boast a magic exhibit. Sure the lamia and the sirens eat people on occasion... but what the media doesn't know doesn't hurt anyone!
He's fully aware that the lamia and sirens are as intelligent as humans - but until they're willing to talk with him and negotiate, they'll be staying right there in the zoo. Too bad Sans, the oldest of the lamia at the zoo, has no intention of cooperating with the man who betrayed him. And where Sans leads, Red and Fell follow.
But despite everything... Gaster is still in love with Sans, and is consistently found begging with the prideful skeleton to just give him a chance. That if he just helped, things would go back to how they used to be when they were young and in love.
We'll call this Gaster "Doctor."
Now lets get to it!
To start with - all four of the Gasters will be investigating the situation first, before they even really think to talk about themselves or make idle chit-chat. They'll be fascinated by the fact that one of them is human, and vice versa, but after taking note of that, and establishing that they are all, in fact, Doctor W.D. Gaster, they'll be back to theorizing about why they're all together all of a sudden.
Pyre and Doctor will be the most confused, as neither of them were... well. Voided. Boss and Wings will be trying to figure out why the void has suddenly crossed dimensions.
Theories will fly around the room, incomprehensible calculations and math... they're all quite happy to find an equal level of intelligence.
It's only when they've finally figured out that there's... well. not much to figure out, that they'll sit down and actually start chatting with each other.
Wings and Boss will probably pair up to talk at first, since they both come from startlingly similar universes and situations. They quickly realize that they had near identical upbringings, and quickly deduce that their timelines diverged after they ended up underground.
Wings is fascinated and horrified by the picture Boss paints of his home - one where cruelty goes rewarded and kindness punished. He's also... uncomfortable with the lack of mention of any sons, but not suprised. In such a cruel world… would he have given a second thought to Sans and Papyrus? Would he have even known they existed? He doesn’t like thinking about it.
For his part, Boss shares most surface level things, but like any fell monster, he keeps what he really treasures close to his chest. He doesn't mention his Sans or Papyrus, and he doesn't consider that Wings may also have met them. Things are different - the world kinder - surely in Wings's world, Sans and Papyrus were never orphaned in the first place?
That's until Wings's starts talking about his world. It becomes clear to both of them that Wings's is a shut-in, who only really knows much about his own corner of the world. ...And about his children.
When given a chance, Wings will do what Wings does best - and that's talk. You can't ever get this skeleton to shut up about anything, and one of his favorite topics is his children. He's going to sing all sorts of praises about his kids - how funny and clever Sans is, how proud he is of him for taking a step back and relaxing. How intelligent and driven Papyrus is, with a strong sense of integrity to boot. How determined and kind his little Frisk is, so small but getting bigger every day now that everyone is healthy.
Boss is going to get very very uncomfortable, though he won't show it. Mainly because jealousy is now simmering through him so hotly that he burns with it. Because that's the life he always wanted. Sure, maybe Wings still suffered, but he got his sons. He eventually got out of the void. Boss doesn't even like humans, but for the sheer principle of it, he's jealous of Wings for Frisk, too.
In Boss's world, Frisk is Papyrus's child. Perhaps... maybe... if things had gone differently, they would be his grandchild. But they aren't, and those boys aren't his. They're his employees, and maybe he took on a more parental role than a boss normally would, but he'd wasted his time. He hadn't adopted them when he still had a chance, and now he never would again.
When Wings presses and Boss finally (reluctantly) admits that he thinks of the boys like his sons, Wings... pities him, though he tries not to show it.
Wings never wants to think of his life without his children.
Aaand on the other half of the room!
I imagine Doctor and Pyre will pair up to start talking at first, as their universes are more similar. There's no barrier in either of them, and both men live on the coast. Doctor will be utterly enthralled with the fact that every other version of him here is a skeleton. Pyre has no love for humans, but neither does he have a large bias against them, and so he will eagerly sit with Doctor as they discuss the differences between their worlds.
Doctor is completely enchanted with the skeleton across from him, and he wonders if that's why he's so drawn to monsters - because apparently, in every other universe, he is one. Meanwhile, Pyre is sitting back and spinning tales as he is wont to do - he's quite the entertainer.
That is, of course, when Sans's name comes up.
Immediately Doctor perks up and presses Pyre for more information on the skeleton. Some of the questions are... overly familiar. Pyre is using Sans's name to talk about him - he hasn't said "my son", and so neither of them quite realize exactly what's going on.
Until, inevitably, Doctor asks something that's too familiar, and inappropriate, and Pyre sputters.
"Why the hell would I ever want t' know about me son's sex life? I taught 'im how t' be safe 'n dat's all I care t' know! I don't want t' details!"
"Your SON?!"
Immediately the room goes silent, and Wings and Boss are moving over because there is SOMETHING going on here, and they aren't sure they like it.
Pyre is sputtering.
"Yes, me son! What else would he be? Ye! Tell me Sans and Papyrus are ye sons, too?"
Pyre drags Wings and Boss into it, and Wings immediately confirms, though he also adds on that he has another child, too - Frisk. Boss hems, haws, and mentions that Frisk is Papyrus's child in his world (of which Pyre agrees that Frisk is Papyrus's in his own as well - they're his grandchild). But eventually Boss is too curious about what's going on to really deny it, and admits that they were his children in everything but legality.
They're all facing Doctor now, who is staring at them in utter fascination.
"Children? I imagine you are older than them in that case, by a fair bit."
They chime in with their ages - Boss and Wings are nearly the same, though Boss is a handful of years younger. Both are in their 900's though. When Pyre admits that he's 148, (though that's firmly upper- middle aged for him - his life expectancy is around 200) both Boss and Wings tease him for being a baby.
Of course, they then find out that Doctor is in his early 40s and while they partially expected it - he's human after all - it's still an odd shock.
Doctor then hums and says that Sans is the same age as him, and (very carefully, without admitting the details of what happened to break them up - Doctor's not an idiot, and admitting to kidnapping and putting monsters (and an alternate version of their son! how fascinating!) in a zoo when he's clearly outnumbered is a terrible idea for his health.) He casually admits that Sans was his lover.
Needless to say, Pyre, Wings, and Boss are all very uncomfortable with this information, though logically they figure that there's nothing... truly wrong with the relationship. They aren't related, and there isn't even an age gap.
Still. They're all feeling very squicked out. They'd really rather remove this knowledge from their skulls, actually.
From there... well. That's about it. None of them really hate each other, though they're all vaguely uncomfortable around Doctor. They just put that on the whole "he was his Sans’s lover" thing. Pyre, Boss, and Wings, get along pretty well, both Boss and Wings taken by Pyre's stories of the high seas. ...And his stories about the raccoon he lives with (both Wings and Boss discard these as rubbish, and Pyre bemoans his fate of never being believed.)
Doctor's crimes may very well never come to light. He’s actually quite clever and tricky! He’s not going to freaking admit to what he did. Let’s say… the topic of how they got their scars came up. Doctor would simply say he doesn’t like thinking about it and is uncomfortable with it. He’s incredibly closed lipped, and while the other’s may find themselves increasingly uncomfortable around him, Doctor will not admit to anything incriminating.
But Doctor deserves some good old fashioned justice, so lets just turn this into a full on chaotic, random crossover and dump both Lamiatale Sans (and lamiatale Frisk in order to give him some incentive/motivation) in the void with ‘em.
Boss, Pyre, and Wings are all immediately VERY curious of the fact that he’s—well, half snake, and Sans and Frisk are about to be bombarded with well meaning questions. Sans and Frisk, on the other hand, are going to be very slowly backing up. …Actually this would be a mess for more than one reason. Maybe I shouldn’t have chosen this to be the way Doctor’s crimes are revealed… Cuz like. Sans would immediately grab Frisk and hide them behind himself and puff up in a threat display, and Frisk’s fear is going to be so palpable, the Gaster’s would be idiots not to see it. They’re probably about a second away from fainting. …Fear of Sans, that is, NOT anything else. (Frisk and Sans have a complicated relationship :) )
Ummm I could turn this into a whole mini fanfic, but to show restraint for your sake and not derail too much from the gasters, I shall refrain. Let’s just say, one thing turns into another, with Frisk’s presence, Sans isn’t able to hide his voice, and it all eventually comes pouring out.
Er. for purposes of this ask remaining gaster centric, I’ll also say the void is preventing Doctor and Sans from physically interacting. Meaning Sans can’t just. Kill him and be done with it. Sans will (eventually) realize that the other Gasters are VERY much on his side (which… they’re monsters too. yes. that makes sense. He still doubts their INTENTIONS, but at the very least they wouldn’t be harming him in the same way.) and when he realizes someone might actually be willing to deal justice on his behalf… well. He will tell Frisk to cover their ears and then begin to describe, in depth, what Doctor had put him and the others through.
Now then. Let’s get into the gasters again. Furious doesn’t even begin to cut it. And Doctor is, by FAR, the least powerful one there. He’s just… a human. He doesn’t even really have the advantage of INTENT, because Boss and Wings have literally already been dead and scattered and can’t be killed like that. In Pyre’s case, he’s quite practiced at killing much more trained humans than Doctor.
Pyre and Boss have both killed humans for way less, and with Sans THERE, they aren’t feeling particularly merciful. This may not be their son, but he LOOKS like him, and acts like him… it’s enough for both of them to be very VERY protective.
Wings will be concerned with making sure Frisk can’t hear or see what’s about to happen… but once he’s reassured their eyes and ears are covered, he’ll be turning right back to copious amounts of violence.
He probably won’t actually take place in what’s about to happen though.
Don’t get me wrong—Not a single one of these Gasters are pacifist people. Not even the softest of them. Wings would gladly tear a man’s head off for hurting one of his kids. But, eh, torture doesn’t settle right in his stomach. To take part in. He won’t stop it though, and he’ll gladly get a couple kicks in before retreating to distract Frisk. (Sans does NOT like the man’s proximity to Frisk, but he’s doing a better job at distracting the kid than Sans is, so… not much he can do.)
Boss and Pyre on the other hand…? Yeah. Uh. They have nothing against actual, drawn out torture. Doctor is going to WISH he were dead by the time the void releases them all.
Doctor doesn’t even blame them. He, too, is possessive over what he sees as his, and he just sees this as the monsters staking their claim. He sees much of himself in them.
They do not like hearing that. And Doctor is the one to suffer for it.
(All of them are going to be reexamining themselves after this and fearing that they are horrific abusers. Boss is going to be the one who spirals the most as he draws comparisons. It’s not going to be pretty mentally.)
Aaaaand I think that’s about it?
TLDR: Wings, Boss, and Pyre would get along swimmingly, though Boss and Wings would have an odd, jealousy based relationship.
All of them would be uncomfortable around Doctor, and if they found out what Doctor did, they would have his guts and also beat him up. A lot. It would probably end with his death, unless the void interfered in this.
THANK YOU FOR THE ASK I HAD SOSOSO MUCH FUN. terribly sorry it took so long!
