SIGNIFICANCE OF HOLI A FESTIVAL IN INDIA
Holi is one of the most vibrant and colorful festivals celebrated in India and other parts of the world. The festival is also known as the festival of colors or the festival of love. The festival is celebrated every year in the month of March, usually on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Phalguna. Holi is a time when people forget their differences and come together to celebrate the joy of life. The festival has a great cultural and religious significance, which is reflected in the various customs and traditions associated with it.
Historical and Mythological Significance:
Holi has a long and rich history, which is deeply intertwined with Hindu mythology and culture. According to Hindu mythology, the festival of Holi has several origins. One of the most popular stories is the story of Prahlad and Holika. Prahlad was a devotee of Lord Vishnu, while his father, Hiranyakashipu, was a demon king who did not believe in the existence of God.
Hiranyakashipu tried several times to kill Prahlad, but he was always saved by Lord Vishnu. Finally, Hiranyakashipu asked his sister Holika to take Prahlad into a fire, which she did. However, instead of burning Prahlad, Holika was burnt to death, and Prahlad was saved by the grace of Lord Vishnu. This story is said to symbolize the victory of good over evil, and it is celebrated by burning effigies of Holika on the night before Holi.
Another story associated with Holi is the story of Lord Krishna and Radha. According to this story, Lord Krishna was jealous of Radha's fair complexion, so he used to play pranks on her and her friends by throwing colored water and powder on them. This story is said to symbolize the playful and joyful spirit of Holi.
Cultural Significance:
Apart from its mythological significance, Holi also has a great cultural significance. The festival is a time when people forget their differences and come together to celebrate the joy of life. It is a time when people forget their social status and caste barriers and play with colors and water. The festival is also a time when people meet their friends and relatives, exchange sweets and gifts, and strengthen their relationships.
One of the most important aspects of Holi is the use of colors. People play with colored powders and water, which is said to symbolize the colors of life. The colors represent the various emotions and moods that we experience in life, such as love, joy, passion, and anger. By playing with colors, people express their emotions and let go of their inhibitions.
Another important aspect of Holi is the food. People prepare various delicacies, such as gujiya, mathri, dahi bhalla, and thandai, which are served to guests and friends. The food symbolizes the richness and diversity of Indian culture and is an important part of the festival.
Social Significance:
Holi has a great social significance, as it brings people together and promotes social harmony. The festival is celebrated by people of all ages, genders, and religions, and it is a time when people forget their differences and come together to celebrate the joy of life. Holi is also a time when people forgive and forget their past grievances and start afresh.
The festival also promotes equality and fraternity, as people of all social backgrounds come together to celebrate. During Holi, people forget their social status and caste barriers and play with colors and water. The festival also promotes unity and brotherhood, as people share sweets and gifts with their friends and relatives.
To conclude, Holi is a festival that has great cultural, religious, social, and environmental significance. It is a time when people come together to celebrate the joy of life and forget their differences. The festival promotes social harmony, unity, equality, and fraternity. It is also a time when people express their emotions and let go of their inhibitions.

The Dangers
Many years ago in my studies I worked with many people. We all eventually started to disagree on a variety of things.
Latin was one of the few languages I was taught & to a degree retained at the time. Music was another study encouraged. To some holy families this was a practice to be whole & for others it was considered an opportunity- “a tool” as it was described. I was taught a lot as a child under the guise of just trying to learn of the world, but quickly others intervened. They were trying to teach me sorcery & I didn’t even know it.
The angels were fractionated by “rank” & “power”. Witchcraft & asking for the power of other things outside of us started to become a secret ambition of some. Some of us wanted to prioritize peace & harmony. Others were focused on the attainment of the most power possible for our survival.
Latin as a language is apparently spoken by a lot of different beings. Communication between beings that have different technology/skills/power/etc apparently had occurred at least somewhat enough of other beings to know of angel existence.
One specific group that shall go unnamed spoke Latin & to speak to them you played certain notes in a certain way. Like an intro song & then they knew you were speaking to them.
Some were asking for power & attempting to bargain.
This was one of the huge dividers that eventually led to angel banishment out of the clouds.
I do not think Latin is translated correctly & I think that’s for a very scary reason.
I also think I asked and wrote down pretty specifically if you did Latin mass to not sing.
That is because you never know who is there leading you to deceive you.
I remember walking into one of the first Latin masses given and as soon as I entered- I remember being taken aback because they were singing.
I looked at the sheet music and was horrified in its familiarity.
The sheet music had the chords for speaking to this other type of being that asks you to sacrifice your body to it for its power. And I watched as an entire congregation sung a chant to other things not of our God that was asking for a specific person’s protection for them. These beings heard the chant & I can only assume lent that person some of their power, for your words said that is what you asked for.
The antichrists/people in hell’s power is supposedly derived from these types of practices. They bargain & gossip with other beings to get favor & then ask for their enemies destruction. A lot of power comes from the manipulation of people trying to do good.
God told me a long time ago I had to warn when I saw this & I did. Many times. But they did not care. I was in the minority. These practices were apparently essential to others, but all I saw was the chaos & the suffering & the pain.
And I realized a long time ago me & you, we’re nothing more than an infinite sacrificial token to them. They’d flood the world & crucify me & keep going as long as they get to stay in power.
And that’s why the Bible & Christianity & all these religions & mythical stories were life and death & why we didn’t stop fighting for so long. Why they were the most important things in the world & you were begged to please just listen because we don’t know who or what we were angering.
This is the story of the never ending fall & all the things people have done for all of history that led to what we called the inevitability of eternal suffering for us all.
They seek to continue to erase memories because they don’t care if they destroy this world & they don’t want anyone to even consider stopping them.
I remember now the ones so many years ago that asked for my skin & my flesh & my body. And I cried.
And the other angels, spiritual beings, & their followers gave me to them- to make themselves more powerful.

I WOULD LOVE MORE DEMON REACTIONS!! I love it both when you add lore and when you just describe sy’s relationships and peoples’ reactions to him. It is so awesome!!!! For demons I imagine that everyone is just like, look at the little funky crow man(when they aren’t terrified of his reputation at least). I imagine some upstart demon noble or something goes to try and make an alliance with/conquer the corvids or smth and then they either get absolutely bodied by the crows who don’t want to share their king or the meet sy and are just in shock because this guy?? This is the feared corvid king?? At least until sy mentions something from his knowledge of PIDW and they get absolutely freaked out because how does he know that?? What do you mean my daughter will be married off soon?? Maybe there is going to be rumors about him being a seer or something. ESPECIALLY if what sy mentions is in relation to a bloodbath that bingge from PIDW caused since crows are associated with death(at least in our world). I wonder how intimidated they would be since not only does sy have a terrifying reputation. But he is a heavenly demon. And like you mention, Tianlang-jun ran a whole empire. ALSO!! I love the reactions so much! Tianlang-jun just shipping sy with zzl when they brawl whilst sy is just in full bird brain and doesn’t want to share his shinys. Imagine all the rumors that would fly around(probably encouraged by tlj) When Binghe sees this he’d throw an absolute FIT!
There is a lot to unpack here, all of it absolutely delightful, but I'm going to be a little freak and start on what's been tugging at my mind as I read this. (I'll probably have to write a part two because I can feel my autistic little brain whirring at at least ninety miles an hour, I'm so sorry) DID YOU KNOW THAT IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY, CROWS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH APOLLO, GOD OF (amongst other things) PROPHECY. I am a teeny weeny bit of a Greek mythology nut, so this immediately jumped me the moment I read about demons viewing SY as a seer of sorts (in the instance that the system was either far more relaxed or non-existent). So, so, basically, in Greek mythology, Apollo learned that one of his lovers (Coronis, I believe) was being unfaithful through ravens/crows and this led to him turning them from white to black! Due to them being featured in this myth, he is heavily associated with them and, in general, they are associated with prophecy and divination. SO, if we want to fuck around in our little sandbox (under the impression that Airplane is stealing from other mythologies aside from just Chinese mythology), we can decide that there is at least three wife plots in PIDW that surround crows and their ideas of prophecy!!! When Shen Yuan starts blabbering about these different future events, and then they HAPPEN, the other demons are like GASP. FUCK. The crow knowss.....ANDANDANDAND, RIGHT, THE IDEA OF CROW DEMONS BEING ABLE TO DIVINE VIOLENT/DEADLY DISASTERS BECAUSE OF THEIR ASSOCIATION WITH DEATH JUST MAKES PEOPLE MORE SCARED OF SHEN YUAN'S PREDICTIONS. HFGROGERGWOHRGHGS SOSHOHRORRRY SORRY SORRY, THIS HAS BECOME A RAMBLE THAT'S ONLY A LITTLE BIT OF WHAT YOUR ASK TOUCHES UPON BUT A P O L L O . HE HAS A TUMULTUOUS RELATIONSHIP WITH CROWS/RAVENS BECAUSE HE SCORCHED THEM BLACK AND THEY CHATTED ABOUT HIS LOVER'S UNFAITHFULNESS, SO IF WE HAVE A DEITY THAT IS LIKE APOLLO IN PIDW, WE COULD ALMOST EVEN IMPLY THAT WHEN THE DIVINE CROW BEINGS FELL TO SIN, THIS IS WHAT CAUSED IT! THEY FELL TO GOSSIP AND WERE DIVINELY PUNISHED BY THIS DEITY, AND AND, OUT OF SPITE AFTER THEY BECAME ENTRENCHED IN SIN, THE HEAVENLY CROW DEMONS BEGAN DIVINING TO THE WEAK MORTALS WITHOUT THE DEITY TELLING THEM TO BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO GET BACK AT THE DEITY AHAHAHAHAHA. (obviously this isn't a definite thing, it's just an alternative way for the heavenly crows to become heavenly demons. It's just me chattering to myself) I'll make a separate post on the MAIN demons' reactions to SY but, in general, most demons are either actively petrified of him because of his image as a deity, or they're relatively disillusioned because they've seen him in person and he's been a SWEETHEART, hitting them with the wife beam. That doesn't mean that they aren't still kind of terrified of the powerful, prophetic crow heavenly demon deity, but in a "scared but horny way", and that's only when SY displays this power! Most of the time he's an undeniably strange but incredibly kind hearted guy that just seems to want to help everyone!! Even if he hates doing things!!! Tianlang-Jun is always under the full determination of "ONE of my relatives is going to marry this crow demon, or I'm going to do it myself." The first time Zhuzhi-Lang and Luo Binghe hear that they both immediately just stare at TLJ like "don't you dare, you whore" (ZZL a lot more respectful than LBH, of course), but TLJ is booored. Someone better fuck marry that freak or he'll do it himself.
(When I write part two for the important demon reactions to SY, I'll link it here, so keep an eye out!!!)

Yes, Odysseus was "Defending what's his" and "reclaiming his kingship, riches, and masculinity" during the killing of the suitors but Leiodes' death shows how it was also still very much personal and about Penelope.
Then Leiodes ran out, grabbed Odysseus’s knee, and begged him—his words had wings: “Odysseus, I implore you at your knee—respect me and have pity. I tell you I’ve never injured a single woman in these halls by saying or doing something reckless. Instead I tried to stop the other suitors when they did those things. They did not listen or restrain their hands from acting badly. So their own wickedness now brings about their wretched fate. Among them I’m a prophet who has done no wrong, and yet I will lie dead, since there’s no future thanks for one’s good deeds.” Shrewd Odysseus glared at him and answered: “If, in fact, you claim to be a prophet with these men, no doubt here in these halls you’ve often prayed that my goal of a sweet return would stay unrealized, so my dear wife could go back to your own home and bear you children. That’s why you won’t escape a bitter death.” As he said this, Odysseus picked up in his fist a sword that lay nearby—Agelaus had dropped it and left it on the ground when he was killed—with it Odysseus struck Leiodes right across his neck. His head was rolling in the dust as he was speaking.
(Book 22, Johnston)
Leiodes: "Hey, we're good, right? I didn't even do anything with your servants or riches." Odysseus: "I don't care if you didn't do anything else, your crime is that you were trying to court my wife in the first place. You're fucking dead."
Also, he was so angry that he cut off his head in one stroke (Athena was juicing him up but still)
Touch the Wife, you get the Knife.
#I've seen some bullshit about how “Look he was just trying to protect what is his.” when holy fuck. DUMB. ASS.#Yes that's HIS wife but it also goes to show how he wouldn't forgive those even trying to woo her.#A “How dare you try to take her away from me? How dare you bother her without rest for 3 years and causing many tears?”#it's completely understandable Odysseus. There's never anything wrong with killing on Penelope's behalf🥰#btw. basically all translations have him say “Dear Wife” >:)#penelope#odysseus#odyssey#the odyssey#Mad rambles#shot by odysseus#essay#tagamemnon#greek mythology#odypen#odysseus x penelope#penelope of ithaca

The Exorcists’ Masks of Virtue
The vast majority of Exorcists in Hazbin Hotel have a notable design element that other angels don’t: their masks are missing an eye. Specifically, the right eye.
I believe this is a reference to the Bible, Matthew 5:29. Jesus says, “If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”
He’s being hyperbolic. Mr Free Healthcare was not pro-mutilation. What he means is that you have to be willing to make sacrifices to prevent sin. The context of the eye metaphor is him condemning adultery and warning that even something as easy, casual and small as a look full of lustful intent can lead to further, worse sin if you don’t notice your sin, hold yourself accountable for it and do the work to not let it influence your decisions. This will probably be hard. It could be very, very painful. Changing your perspective can feel as horrible as plucking out your eye, so many people can’t bring themselves to do it. But although it won’t feel that way in the moment, it’s healthier for our general wellbeing in the long run to abandon traits and behaviours that damage ourselves and/or others.
(You may notice that Jesus’s teaching that you can have sinned, redeem yourself by giving up sin and thus escape damnation is the founding principle of the Hazbin Hotel. You may also notice that it contradicts everything the Exorcists believe.)
The Exorcists seem to follow this idea of painfully excising badness for the sake of the greater good devoutly to the point of placing it above teachings like ‘Thou shalt not kill’, with their job being to remove sin, in the form of sinners, to protect Heaven. Hence the missing right eyes. They’re a declaration of moral righteousness and inability to stumble.
But the truth is that the Exorcists all have their right eyes. Their flawlessness is a facade. Underneath, they are untouched, think themselves morally untouchable and, as shown by their horror and outrage when even one of them is killed, would much rather be physically untouchable too. This perfectly represents their complete unwillingness to acknowledge their own faults, let alone improve. They are never the ones who sacrifice. They force the sinners to sacrifice and don’t compensate it with any salvation. They metaphorically rip out the sinners’ eyes, but still condemn their entire bodies as inherently, permanently sinful. So they’ll just have to do another Extermination to get the other eyes! And another one to cut off their right hands! And so on until there’s nothing left.
The only exception to the rule is Vaggie, both in appearance and character. Her mask has the left eye crossed out instead. Even before her expulsion, she’s set apart to the audience as an Exorcist who has the capacity to, shall we say, see a different side of things. Her mask having its ‘sinful’ right eye reflects her understanding that the Exorcist worldview is wrong.
When she almost kills a demon child, her hateful vision clears. She discards the part of herself that’s an unquestioning, merciless agent of death, terror and grief… and as punishment for what Lute perceives as treacherous weakness, gets her eye plucked out.
Of course Lute leaves her with only the ‘sinful’ eye. It brands Vaggie forever as the inversion, a perversion, of what the Exorcists are meant to be.
You know, all this talk of eye removal in the Bible reminds me of another line - ‘an eye for an eye’. Adam directly quotes it in “Hell is Forever”. He uses it to frame the Exterminations as Old Testament-style punitive justice; the sinners did harm and so they receive it. But putting aside the debate about how ethical the concept of revenge is, the entire point of taking an eye for an eye is that it’s proportional. The punishment fits the crime. If someone cuts your eye out, you shouldn’t murder their whole family in front of them and then slowly disembowel them to death. That would be the sin of wrath. You should just make them pay without excessive pain or collateral damage. This is the fairest form of revenge.
The Exorcists don’t do that! The Exterminations aren’t proportional to the wrongs of all they hurt, nor was Vaggie’s brutal punishment equivalent to her extremely mild insubordination. Lute literally takes Vaggie’s eye, and more, after Vaggie does nothing to her! That’s the opposite of the phrase! Adam and his soldiers are wrathful and cruel, deriving satisfaction from others’ suffering. But they just can’t stop going on and on about how disgustingly evil the sinners are, in total hypocrisy… despite some of the sinners being far better people than the genocidal Exorcists are… it’s like they’re obsessed with specks of dust in the sinners’ eyes when they have massive logs stuck in their own. Oh hey, that’s in the Bible too!
#both emotionally and symbolically i am rooting for vaggie or charlie to take out one of lute’s eyes#i was like ‘cool vaggie’s missing the opposite eye to her former mask!’#and then i went back and saw that her mask was also different#and then i went down a rabbit hole of biblical mentions of bad things happening to eyes#i know god and jesus (and the holy spirit) probably won’t appear in the show#at least not in person#but i do cherish the mental image of adam and his genocidal army hanging out#when jesus christ bursts in with a whip#and gets all ‘you have made my father’s house into a den of thieves’ on them but an order of magnitude more intense#because HE SAID LOVE ONE ANOTHER#WHERE IS THE LOVE#HE SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED IT#i’m not christian! i’m a hardcore atheist!#religion is just as fictious to me as egyptian mythology#however i am also autistic and have major special interests in mythology and folklore#so here i am fervently writing analysis of the sermon on the mount#hazbin hotel#hazbin vaggie#hazbin hotel vaggie#vaggie#hazbin hotel exorcists#hazbin exorcists#hazbin hotel analysis#hazbin analysis
