A Tiny Baby Bananasaurus!
Look how friggin' cute!!!!! I have the "baby" pattern already purchased but the creator put out this tiny baby for free on Instagram and it's so easy and adorable!
I also finally got to try doing two different yarns together to give it a more green/not quite ripe look.
Pattern by EmeraldRoseCrochet (free on Instagram) Materials used: Himalaya Baby Dolphin Cream, Himalaya Baby Dolphin Yellow, Hobbii Rainbow 8/4 Green (22), Premier Parfait Chunky Teddy

This is my second year making a temperature blanket. I moved from Kansas to New York in May, and decided to commemorate that with a color change. Each month is Sophie's Garden, made with Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4.

Bingo Roll 3 - Chaos Chevron Scarf (Pt1)
Ignoring the fact I am also making a chevron scarf in Tunisian crochet for a gift right now, I was super excited to get this roll on my not-so- fancy excel grid and randomizer formula. Usually when I think of chevron, I think of stripes, and I have some palette packs on hand that have been waiting for that perfect project.
Just a few things to figure out: What am I making? How thick and tall do I want the stripes? And, how many colors?
My brain immediately decided scarf, so that's the first question out of the way. It's such a staple accessory, and I am of the opinion you can never have enough scarves.
I'm really enjoying the randomizer that comes from choosing each of these next projects, and I've been wanting to do a project that combines a dice roll with a corresponding color for a long time. With that in mind - why not all of the colors?
The palette pack I have has 10 colors, and I have d10s a plenty with my tabletop stuff. I'm choosing this color scheme with pink leading into red-browns, and light blues darkening into natural greens. I didn't have a project in mind when I bought this from Hobbii (Rainbow Cotton 8/4); I really just wanted to try out the cotton. So this is the perfect opportunity to dive into the pack.
The set will give me 175 yards of each color, so I am finishing out with 1,750 yards of fingering weight cotton to work with here. I won't need that much, and this should be more than enough depending on the dice rolls. I will add one rule for the dice roll - if I've used the color in the previous round, I'll be rolling again. Finally the stitch. Since the pack is already fingering weight - and the label actually is calling it a 1 weight - I feel like hdc will do just fine for balancing color changes. While I like the look of singles in striping, I think it will be too dense with the 1 weight. And honestly, it will take too long. HDC is actually my favorite base stitch too, and it gives some wonderful options for texture. I'm going to do BLO, and follow the instructions for this pattern. I whipped up a sample in the yarn I used for the amigurumi challenge, which is the same yarn as what I have in this palette. If I've done my math right, every 4 rows will be 1.5 inches, so I can expect a 66 inch scarf to be a solid 176 rows. I might take it up to 72 inches. Who knows.
I may not like math, but I LOVE data, so I of course will be keeping track of all my rolls. I'm planning to roll for 10 at a time to really break this project into sections. That'll give me the discipline too for either weaving in as I go, or at least for the every 10. I do not want to get to the end of the project and have 300+ends to weave in. Truly the stuff of nightmares
As a note - I've made up the color names just to keep myself organized.
I'm so ready to get started...[insert dice roll here!] ....Our first row will be #9!!

My contribution to FishTank Day 1 and the color palette challenge. I've gathered items I either bought because of the color or that were around my house in the green and yellow color scheme, and then I made a kind of Gavii-CottageCore-FishTank moodboard of sorts. :D Basically tea, and yarn, and plants. The dream truly.
From top to bottom, left to right:
Image 1: My dream FishTank yarn - Arcane Fibre Works in the colorway "Calm Waters" (fingering weight). Just a few more in stock, but there is a similar one here, with a more yellow focus.
Image 2: Chantal Tea Kettle in Marigold yellow and an artisan made tea cup with lemons. I do not have the maker for the cup written down anywhere, but if I find them I will edit this post. [EDIT: TMD ceramics]
Image 3: Hoya Pubicalyx in a pot with a yellow butterfly
Image 4: Customized YETI rambler with "TB-4" on the side
Image 5: Gordon and Virgil Minis propped up with some scrap crochet thread in green and yellow. Green is Hobbii Rainbow Thread in "Malachite" and the yellow is Aunt Lydia's size 10.
Image 6: Green Coffee mug of a person in a sunhat planting near a green house. Purchased at my local farm shop, but I found it here as well.
Image 7: Hoya Wayetii in an artisan made pot by Rain Ceramics
Image 8: Vinyl Records with yellow album covers - "Best of the Blues Brothers" and "Talking is Hard" by Walk The Moon
Image 9: More Arcane Fibre Works yarn, worsted weight "Leaf Green" and a Furls Crochet Streamline Resin hook in "Virgo"
This has been a great excuse to test out my new camera!

I make a lot of squares and rectangles. Pride scarfs are my fav. The pattern I use is : https://krazyawesome.com/knitmonster/long-rainbow-scarf.html Hobbii has some great rainbow packs. I purchase https://hobbii.com/friends-cotton-8-4-color-pack?option=21224 Just be warned, 325 stitches for cast on is plenty long. The 465 will have you at the fourth doctor lengths.
Math is really tiring, im so glad i finally get to relax and do some knitting and crochet and i oh god oh my what the fuck

This is going to sound stupid. Is hobbii…good? It seems I keep seeing post after post about their yarn having knots or random places where it’s much lighter, arriving tangled, etc., but I still see people using them. I’d like to order from them but I worry I’ll have wasted money on good yarn if it’s uneven or randomly 2ply when it should be 4
i've never had any quality issues with their yarn at all! their rainbow bamboo is honestly one of my favourite yarns ever (it might actually be the softest thing in the known universe)
it never arrived tangled when it was sold by 50g weight, and i've never had anything else arrive tangled up either so
"2 ply when it should be 4 ply" is likely... i'm gonna be honest... not much the fault of hobbii. they've started listing the ply now on the UK site at least (presumably since they started getting more traction worldwide) - they didn't last time i shopped with them though. but they're a danish company and use different terms.
previously yarn was listed by weight category not ply and that's an easy mistake to make if you don't realise. yarn weight 2 is anything from 3-5 ply. so it's easy to order 2-yarn thinking it's 2-ply and actually getting 4-ply.
or the yarn would be listed as "8/4" or something similar. x/x is an old way of numbering yarn weight but some companies still use it. if you don't know what they mean you'd easily see "8/4" and think it was perhaps 8-ply/DK. It's not. It's 4 strands of 8-thickness yarn. 8/4, 4/4, and 6/4 yarns are all technically 4-ply... but very different weights and wouldn't all be labelled "4-ply" now
on hobbii.com (not the UK site) the rainbow cotton range is still listed as 8/4, 8/6 and 8/8. it's better to look at the guage/recommended needle size/WPI and make sure it's approximately the weight you want.
https://hobbii.com/rainbow-cotton-8-4
#i absolutely ordered 8/4 thinking it was DK and got something closer to 4ply but it didn't matter that much for what i was doing so#whatever

Oh I forgot!
Pattern is Crochet Wrap Jumper by Madeline Shirley (I did basic double crochet instead of herringbone stitch, and made the cuffs shorter and the waist ribbing longer)
And yarn is rainbow 8/4 print in colour 40 from hobbii.
So I made this jumper a few months ago, (it's the first thing I've ever crocheted with a pattern) and it ended up a little too short for me to be comfortable wearing.
I had decided to undo the whole thing to salvage the yarn, but got one of my best friends to try it on first just in case, and they LOVED it, and it looks so good on them too! So it belongs to them now.
I was actually really disappointed when I decided to frog the whole thing, because I was pretty attached to it by the end, i learned a lot and it gave me the confidence to try more patterns, so I'm super happy that my first jumper is actually going to be worn and loved after all.
