my fiance and i were talking about how one of the reasons trans men fall so easily into misogyny (and often transmisogyny) is because a huge part of misogyny is the fear men have of being perceived as women or designated as feminine rather than masculine. i certainly experienced this fear really early on into my transition, especially because i was abused and kicked out of home after being outed. the fear of being seen as not entirely a man is something trans guys need to confront in order to have a healthy relationship not only with their own masculinity, but with transness as a whole.
Indeed!! Some trans guys cope with these insecurities by becoming outrageous misogynists and throwing themselves into conventional masculine performances (there's a whole contingent of trans guys who go into military and policing type jobs), and others cling to the security of "women's spaces" while lashing out against all the women around them within those spaces (especially trans women). It's the same toxicity and misunderstanding of gendered dynamics, just with slightly different manifestations... when really what trans guys need, like all guys do, is to realize that their liberation is bound up in gender liberation.

I definitely have more of the trichotillomania side of BFRB disorders and not skin picking but god damn the stitches spitting on my scars are driving me just a tiny bit bonkers.
