im quoting from a critical theory final im writing but its really neat how return of the obra dinn is not a game about you.
there is no self in the game. you dont control anything, you were not part of the obra dinn's tragedy and nothing you do in-game can change their fates - or anything for that matter. they will remain dead, the obra dinn will disappear with the storm, you have no power to change the story or the game. your self do not matter, even if you are represented by the eyes of the inspector.
what mattered are the other, the memories, the stories of adventure and tragedy of those aboard the obra dinn, how they relate to other characters in their struggle or in their demise. this game is not about you, it is about them.
but its a cycle of remember and re-member. you feel a disconnect to these strangers' stories and experiences but you are thrown into their boots. you were not part of the obra dinn, but you feel pity, anger, sadness, disgust and fear for their fates, do you not?
and i think that's really neat. also im very drained </3
#swan .txt#not art#rambles#return of the obra dinn#// i was going to use papers please as a second example but#as the papers please inspector your choices still matter and fate changing#theres still a self represented there but not with obra dinn baybee#which is also funny bc the obra dinn inspector has like 4 lines max#and the game randomizes their voice for just those 4 lines#so. thats a disconnect babee!#ho boy finals getting me delirious

Hey all. Last chapter of the latest Bunnyrabbitdoll arc... thing. Longest thing I've written by far. Light on the fluff, heavy on the horror and dark comedy. Hope you enjoy. T/W: Gore, body horror, guns, arachnophobia The Dollhouse Final Part: Kill All Monsters
Caine and Bubble are relaxing on a digital beach, both of them sporting sunglasses and matching towels. Caine is still in his full ringmaster outfit and Bubble canât actually lay down, so he hovers an inch or two above his towel. Layla sits on their picnic basket, playing some beach music. Caine sips from an empty coconut shell through a crazy straw. Caine: BOY, THIS IS THE LIFE, ISNâT IT BUBBLE?
Bubble: I feel like a million deer, Caine! *eats a seashell*
Caine: A GUY COULD GET USED TO A LITTLE R&R! Bubble: Reading and writing? Caine: OH HO HO NO, YOU ABSOLUTE SIMPLETON! REST AND RELAXATION! ITâS HARD TO COME BY RUNNING A DIGITAL CIRCUS EVERY DAY FOR [error: not found: value] YEARS! THATâS WHY I LET SOME OF MY SELF-REGULATING AI RUN ADVENTURES NOW AND THEN!
Bubble: You mean like me?Â
Caine: RIGHT! WEâRE ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY HERE, AND FAMILIES WORK TOGETHER! AND RELAX TOGETHER!Â
Bubble looked around. They were the only ones on the beach for miles.Â
Bubble: Hmm⌠Do you think the performers are okay?
Caine: IâD BET YOU A COMBO MEAL AT SPUDSYâS THAT THEYâRE HAVING THE TIME OF THEIR NON-ABSTRACTED LIVES RIGHT NOW!Â
Bubble: Good enough for me, boss! *he pulls a sun mirror from Hammerspace and flips it open, setting it in front of him* AhhhhhhhhhhâŚ
Caine: WORKING ON YOUR TAN THERE, BUBBLE?
Bubble: Heating myself up! Itâs fun to feel myself boil!
Caine: *laughs* Oh, you crack me up.Â
â
Back in Crazy Caineâs House of Tricks, Pomni paced back and forth, tapping the hatchet she found on her palm. Ragatha sat in the corner, near Jax, but with enough distance between them so his stench isnât unbearable. Jax himself drifts in and out of consciousness, delirious.
Jax: Hey⌠Hey Pompom. Pompoooom.Â
Pomni: *sighs* What?
Jax: Wh-What is the scariest tree in the forest..?
Pomni: What? What kind of question-
Jax: Bam-BOO! *makes jazz hands and laughs so hard he coughs, followed by a groan of pain*
Pomni rolled her eyes and continued to pace. Ragatha gave a small, polite laugh at Jaxâs terrible joke. Pomni: Where are the others..? They have to be in their own puzzle rooms, right?Â
Ragatha: All three of us got one. Well, you skipped yours. Maybe we should try doing what you did and climb up the slide?
Jax: My foot hurtsâŚ
Ragatha: I know Jax, weâll get it fixed soon, okay hun?
Pomni: We canât. The doors locked behind us⌠*she jiggles the handle of the door Jax fled through to demonstrate*
Ragatha: You tried chopping it down with your ax?
Jax: Heeeereâs POMNI! *laughs himself into coughing again*
Pomni: I could try⌠but these seem pretty sturdy. I might break it.Â
Ragatha: Itâs worth a shot. Beats sitting in the dark and twiddling our thumbs.Â
Pomni: I guess⌠Should I just⌠pick one?
Jax: Not my door⌠Itâs still in there.Â
Ragatha: Why donât you do mine? You already killed that monsterâŚÂ
Pomni: Okay. Pomni stood in front of Ragathaâs door, taking a deep breath and flexing her arms. She then readied her hatchet.Â
Pomni: âŚHere we go. Pomni took a mighty swing at the door. With a brittle crunch, the wooden handle broke off, leaving the hatchet-head buried a few inches into the door for a moment before falling out and clanging to the floor. Jax burst into laughter for a third time.Â
Ragatha: Oh noâŚ
Pomni looked at the broken handle for a moment before balling her fists and hurling it against the wall, where it ricocheted and skittered across the floor.Â
Ragatha: Pomni, Iâm sorry. That was a terrible ideaâŚÂ
Pomni: No-! No, it really wasnât. It was a good idea, it just⌠didnât work.Â
Ragatha covered her face, Pomni ceasing her pacing and going over to her.
Pomni: Ragatha, Iâm sorry, it really was a good idea, I didnât mean toâŚÂ
Ragatha: No, itâs okay. Itâs okay, I just⌠Itâs horrible here, yeah, but itâs never this horrible⌠something has to be wrongâŚÂ
Pomni: What do you mean?
Ragatha: I mean⌠you saw what was after me⌠you saw what that monster did to Jax-
Jax appeared to be entertaining himself by seeing how many fingers he could stick through the wound in his foot.Â
Ragatha: Itâs not supposed to be like this⌠itâs bad but itâs not⌠notâŚÂ
Pomni: Not?
Ragatha: Not Rated MâŚ
Pomni: Who cares? Weâre alive. And when we get out of this place we can tell Caine exactly how we feelâŚ
Ragatha: âŚI guess Iâve just gotten used to a specific kind of horrorâŚÂ
Pomni hugged the ragdoll, who gratefully squeezed her back. It was a lot easier to hug her girlfriend with so many other anxieties tuning out her haphephobia.Â
Pomni: Weâll get out of here. Itâs just another stupid adventure, right?Â
Jax: Hey⌠whereâs my hug?
Pomni: Youâll get one after youâve had a bath.
Jax: I wonât. You just think Iâm uglyâŚ
Pomni: No, I think you stink. Big difference.
Jax: âŚMy foot really hurts.Â
One of the doors flew open with a crash and Zooble stumbled out of it, clutching what appeared to be a double-barreled shotgun.Â
Zooble: I SAID GET BACK, YOU UGLY SON OF A B!#âŹ#! GET AWAY FROM ME!
Zooble snapped their shotgun closed just as a clawed, skinless humanoid hand the size of a car wrapped its fingers around the doorframe. A head, skin so tight around its face it more resembled a skull, crammed its way into the doorframe. It had eyes like pools of fog and a long, serpentine tongue, grinning hatefully
Zooble: Yeah. Keep smiling.Â
Zooble aimed their gun at the creature and fired. The kickback from the weapon sent their torso and arms flying, their head twirling about in the air before landing on the floor and their legs blindly stumbling about. Luckily, they were dead-on with their shot and hit the ghoul creature square in the forehead, fog gushing out of the wound as it clamped its bony hand over it. Zoobleâs arms and torso, sitting several feet away from their head, aimed the shotgun once again, using their claw as a mount, and fired. The kickback from this blast blew Zoobleâs right arm off their body, but the buckshot found its mark in the ghoulâs jaw, severing it neatly from the rest of the skull, so that it swung back and forth like the pendulum of a clock. It shrieked and gushed a torrent of fog from its maw that appeared to freeze the ground below it, shoving its way back into the doorway, the door slamming shut and locking behind it.Â
Zooble: F@&$inâ @$$#@!âŹâŚ their right arm crawls its way back to their body, abandoning the empty gun on the floor. The right arm reaches their torso and their left reattaches it. Then, Zoobleâs headless and legless torso pushes itself up so it balances on its hand and claw and ambles its way to their head. They put their head back on and rest a moment.
Jax: *points* Gun.
Zooble twisted their head around before relaxing at the sight of their fellow performers.Â
Zooble: Sweet JÂŁ$&$, itâs just you guys⌠gimme a second.Â
Zooble grabbed their wandering legs and hoisted themselves up onto them, twitching each foot to ensure proper connection before taking a few careful steps towards Pomni and the others. They stopped, cringing and covering where their nose might have been with their claw.
Zooble: God, it stinks in hereâŚÂ
Pomni: Sorry. Itâs Jax. His monster pretty much had him in Its mouthâŚÂ
Zooble: Ugh⌠*keeping their claw up* So⌠you three made it out. And you all ran into monsters too?Â
Pomni: I sort of skipped mine by climbing back up the slide and forcing the trapdoor open⌠I had a weapon too, but it just broke. *she picks up the head of the hatchet*
Zooble: Really? D@##, that gun only had two shells. I looked all over that stupid lodge for suppliesâŚÂ
Jax: Hodgepodge in a lodge⌠hee hee.
Zooble: Whatâs with him?
Ragatha: He got bitten by his monster too. I think it might have had something on Its teeth, âcause heâs been acting like that for a while.Â
Jax: *watching his own hand move* My hands make after-hands.
Pomni: Are you alright though, Zooble? Ragatha was just telling me-
Zooble: Oh yeah, dandy. Peachy keen. Nothing like nearly getting frozen by a giant ice wraith to put a little skip in your step.
Ragatha: You were better than I was. Pomni had to kill my monster for me.
Zooble: âŚPomni? Really?
Pomni: You donât need to sound so shocked.Â
Zooble: I mean, no offense, newbie, but you donât give off âkillerâ energy.Â
Jax: Itâs because she loves her!Â
Pomni blushed hot pink and Ragatha rather brusquely cleared her throat.
Ragatha: Heâs uh, not in his right mind. I just got lucky that Pomni stumbled into my escape roomâŚÂ
Zooble: So that leaves Gangle and Kinger unaccounted for.Â
Ragatha: RightâŚÂ
Pomni: They have to be inside one of the doors we havenât used yet. And since they can really hurt us, they might be in big trouble.
Zooble: So what do we do?Â
Pomni: Well, thereâs seven doors. One for each of us, and one that must lead out of here, or deeper into this place, God forbidâŚ
Jax: That one. Itâs differentâŚ
Jax pointed to a door on the opposite wall from where he was sitting. It was the only door on that wall, and it appeared to have three small, colored lights on it, no brighter than those on a Christmas tree. Pomni, Ragatha and Zooble all approached the door. There were six lightbulbs, two vertical rows of three, on a small panel. A fuschia, periwinkle and red light were illuminated, while the other three were dark. A small bronze plaque above the lights was barely readable in the soft red-violet glow.Â
Pomni: âShould you give in to your pain,
In this house, you will remain.
âTis only after fear is slain
That you can go home again.â
Zooble pointed to each of the illuminated lights.Â
Zooble: Pink for me, purple for Jax, red for Ragatha.Â
Ragatha: So the other three are Kinger, Gangle-
Pomni: And me. I have to do mineâŚ
Ragatha: But you skipped it⌠How are you going to get back in there, all the doors are lockedâŚÂ
Pomni: Letâs worry about that in a bit. Gangle and Kinger havenât beaten their rooms yet.
Ragatha: But the doors are locked.
Pomni: Doesnât mean we shouldnât try.Â
Pomni picked up the empty shotgun and the blade of the broken hatchet.Â
Pomni: See if any of the doors open for you. If they donât, and they probably wonât, try to smash the handles off with the butt of this. *she hands Ragatha the gun* I donât see a deadbolt, so it must just be a lock on the handleâŚ
Zooble: What if youâre wrong? What if we get stuck in here?Â
Pomni: Then Iâm wrong, and weâre stuck. But we tried.
Pomni jiggled the handle on one of the doors they hadnât tried yet. To no oneâs surprise, it was locked, so she took the axehead and began to smash it down on the handle. Ragatha set to work on another one of the doors, testing the handle and then starting the process of bashing it off with the shotgun. Jax covered his ears at the sudden noise.Â
What felt like ages of continuous bashing finally ended when Ragatha and Zooble succeeded in knocking off their doorâs handle, with it clanging to the floor in several bent and twisted pieces. Ragatha pulled on the hole where the handle once was and the door opened with a crunch.Â
Ragatha: Yes!
Zooble: Iâll be d@##ed.Â
Pomni: Oh, good work guys! *puts down the axehead, panting with exertion* Okay, letâs go in and helpâŚ
Ragatha: Wait, what about Jax- oh.
Jax snorted in his sleep, kicking his uninjured foot and slumping a little further down the wall.
Pomni: Looks like heâll be okay for a little while. *she smiles* Iâm glad he could get at least a little restâŚÂ
Zooble: You know, this is pretty much what he acts like even when he isnât tripping on monster venomâŚÂ
The three of them chortled, but it died down quickly. They had work to do. Ragatha opened the door and they slipped inside, Zooble carrying the empty gun just in case.
They exited into what appeared to be a forest, the door attached to a brick wall, the only man made structure in the vicinity. It slammed shut behind them. The ivy-snared trees stretched high out of view, the suffocating canopy of leaves blocking just about all natural light. The grass was overgrown and clumpy, so tall that Pomni had to push it out of the way to keep it from getting in her mouth. Crickets and other insects chirred, and the entire area had the dense smell of wet moss.Â
Zooble: Hmm. *they hold up their hand and claw, calling out* HEY GANGLE?! KINGER?! YOU OUT THERE?
In the distance, there was another shout. Too high pitched and delicate to be the echo of Zoobleâs voice.Â
Ragatha: Gangle!Â
The three of them took off into the woods. Pomni could hardly see an inch in front of her due to the tall, knotted grass, and her foot soon snagged on a root and she fell forward.
Pomni: OOF!Â
The jester swore to herself and began to pick herself up off the ground, only to squeak when a pair of hands wrapped about her midsection and hoisted her into the air. She was seated down on a pair of plush shoulders, a tangle of red curls and a purple bow between her legs.
Ragatha: *smiling up at her* Watch your head, okay?Â
Ragatha continued running, Pomni leaning onto her head for support. The jester felt her face warm up despite the cool air rushing by her cheeks. This was much better⌠She had no idea Ragatha was that strong.
The group continued onward, following Gangleâs cries, until they came onto a clearing between two mighty trees. Strung between them was a spider web, woven with thick yet gossamer threads to be about the size of a California king bed. In the middle hung Gangle, her body a mess of knots and her lips quavering. She gasped upon seeing the three of them.
Gangle: Guys! You made it⌠please get me down, I donât know when sheâs coming backâŚ
Zooble: Okay, hold still. Pomni, youâre the tallest right now, break the threads.Â
Zooble handed Pomni the gun, and she stuck the barrels of it up towards one of the threads holding Gangle in place.
Gangle: Th-That thing isnât loaded is it?!
Ragatha: Gangle, we wouldnât do that to you- ow my neck.
Pomni: Sorry RagathaâŚÂ
The canopy above them whispered ever so slightly, a few dead leaves drifting down upon them. Gangle looked up as best she could and gasped.
Gangle: Sheâs coming, please get me down, guys, please!Â
Pomni hit one of the silk threads with the barrel of the gun, and it stuck fast. Pomni yanked on the stock of the weapon, but the threads stretched taut like bungee cords. A 12-foot long spindly black leg emerged from the treeline above them with slow, surgical precision, testing its grip on one of the parallel tree trunks before settling it down.Â
Zooble: Thatâs a big-@$$ spiderâŚÂ
Pushing through the leaves and branches emerged an arachnid, jet black and the size of a rhinoceros. A cluster of eight, milky white fish egg eyes sat on her almost disproportionately small head. Her pincers clicked together greedily as she climbed on eight light and nimble feet down to the web.
Gangle: Help me! Help me, please, help me!Â
Ragatha: Pomni, get the gun unstuck!
Pomni: Iâm really trying! Itâs like steel wire!
Pomni was on her feet by this point, balancing on Ragathaâs shoulders and pulling on the shotgun as hard as she could. Her gloves slipped and she was sent flying backwards off of Ragathaâs shoulders, who had to rapidly spin her arms for balance. The shotgun remained stuck to the web, the spider advancing past it towards Gangle, frothy drool dribbling onto her mask.Â
Gangle: NO! GO AWAY!Â
Ragatha: Hold on Gangle! Iâm coming!Â
Ragatha, using her height to her advantage, crouched and jumped up, grabbing onto the shotgun with one hand. Her legs pinwheeled in the air. The enormous spider was jostled about as she prepared to sink her fangs into Gangle, stumbling and turning her ghostly eyes towards Ragatha.Â
Pomni: *just now climbing to her feet# Ragatha wait, donât get stuck!Â
Ragatha: Iâm not gonna get stuck, I-
The rag doll lifted up her other arm to grasp the shotgun, pulling the trigger by mistake. Instead of the expected click of the hammer striking an empty chamber, there was a deafening bang and a muzzle flash the size of a manhole cover. The gun fired, catapulting Ragatha back onto the grass and sending buckshot directly into the spiderâs face, breaking a few threads of her web.
The arachnidâs head burst like a rotten melon, chunky, bright white slurry pouring from the stump that was left behind. Her legs twitched a few times before she tumbled off and hit the overgrown forest floor, her legs curling up. Stone dead.
Gangle: YOU SAID IT WASNâT LOADED!
Zooble: IT WASNâT LOADED!Â
Gangle: *practically sobbing# YOU ALMOST SHOT ME!!!
Zooble: IT. WASNâT. LOADED! Itâs a double-barreled shotgun! What, did another shell just APPEAR in the barrel?!
Pomni snapped the gun open after a few tries as Ragatha worked on getting Gangle down from the web. A spent shell casing, smoking hot, dropped onto the grass, along with a live one.Â
Pomni: I guess it did just appear in the barrel⌠*puts the live round back into the gun and snaps it closed*
The gunshot had ripped through a few of the threads in the spiderâs web, making it much easier to pull Gangle free now that a lot of the tautness was gone. Ragatha only had to reach up on her tiptoes to grab Gangle by one of her ribbons and yank her free. The pile of ribbons fell into Ragathaâs arms and promptly burst into tears, full-on spouts of water erupting from the eyeholes of her mask.
Zooble: Ah⌠Gangle, Iâm sorry, we really didnât know it was loadedâŚ
Ragatha: Zooble used both shots on their own monster, we never reloaded it⌠it must replenish ammo on its ownâŚ
Gangle sniffled and sobbed a few more times before managing to calm herself down enough to speak.Â
Gangle: I-I believe you⌠I was just⌠it was so scary⌠I was stuck up there for ages waiting for her to come back, I screamed and I screamed for help and I thought it was never gonna comeâŚÂ
Pomni: âŚAll of us are scared, Gangle. But once we find Kinger and I complete my challenge, itâll be over.
Gangle: *wet sniffle* Challenge..?
Pomni: Yeah. All of us completed a puzzle room like this⌠well, I actually sort of skipped mine. Long story. Letâs just go back to the nexusâŚ
Zooble: The what?
Pomni: The room with all the doors. Itâs called a nexus I think.Â
Ragatha: Very Metroidvania of you, Pomni. *she smiles, then looks down at Gangle, still a pile in her arms# Can you walk, Gangle?
Gangle: Um⌠I donât knowâŚÂ
Ragatha: Donât sweat it. Iâll carry you to the nexus. Youâre pretty light.
Gangle: âŚThank you.Â
The four of them walked back to the door. The chilly air and ambience of the forest was nearly soothing on the groupâs inflamed nerves. Pomni pushed her way through the tall grass; it was manageable when she didnât need to run full tilt, but a part of her wished she was back on Ragathaâs shoulders.Â
Zooble: Letâs hope Jax hasnât wandered off.Â
Gangle: Jax is with you guys..? Is he okay?
Ragatha: Heâs- Well⌠heâs hurt, but okay. He got bitten by his monster and we think it may have been venomous or something, because heâs acting really loopy.
Zooble: Itâs kind of entertaining.
They reached the solitary brick wall. Zooble reached out to open the door, but someone pulled it open from the other side.
Zooble: Kinger..!
The eldest member of the group stood on the other side of the door, trembling more than usual. In his left hand he held a meat cleaver, stained with something blue. Flecks of the same blue substance stained his face, gloves and robe.Â
Kinger: Glad to know youâŚ
The four of them cautiously slipped by Kinger back into the Nexus. They were soon hit by the putrid smell of rotten corn and winced. Jax was exactly where they left him, sleeping like a rock.Â
Gangle: It smells really bad in hereâŚ
Pomni: I know, itâs Jax⌠he got it probably the worst out of all of us. *she leans the shotgun against the wall# B-But what happened to you, Kinger? You killed your monster?
Kinger: Monster..?Â
Pomni: Uh, yeah, in your escape room
Kinger: I⌠I remember booksâŚÂ
Ragatha: Books? *she sets Gangle down*
Kinger: Books and- and black candles- and cheesecake⌠*puts his hands to the side of his head*
Zooble: Okay, okay Kinger. Sounds like you had a rough go of things⌠Just gonnaâŚÂ
Zooble took the cleaver from Kingerâs hand with no resistance.Â
Kinger: I need my pillowsâŚ
Ragatha: Weâre going to get you your pillows as soon as we get out of here, okay? You saved us a whole lot of time by finishing your puzzle on your own.
Gangle: HeyâŚ
Ragatha: No, I didnât mean it lik-
Pomni tuned out the conversation to stare at one of the doors. It seemed to be drawing her towards it⌠almost whispering to her.Â
Pomni: *Points to it* Thatâs my door. It was made for me.
Everyone stopped and looked at the door with Pomni. Jax blearily opened his eyes, curiously tilting his head at what everyone was looking at.Â
Ragatha: Well⌠with all six of us, it shouldnât be that hard to finish, right?
Zooble: More like five, since Jax is⌠indisposed.
Jax: Who are you calling in this clothes?! These are MY clothes!
Pomni went and picked up the shotgun, double checking the shells. One spent, one live. One shot. She sighed and snapped it closed.Â
Pomni: Letâs get this over with⌠Zooble, you can probably use the cleaver to- HUUUUUAAAAAAHHHHH!
Pomni felt herself yanked backwards with enough force to give her whiplash. She rocketed towards her door, which swung itself open to swallow her up.
Ragatha: POMNI-!
Even if Ragatha had perfect timing, she couldnât have caught up to her girlfriend in time. By the time she had taken three steps, the jester was across the threshold and the door slammed shut with a teeth-chattering bang, locking itself.Â
ââ
Pomni awoke in darkness. Her head swam, and her upset equilibrium couldnât tell if she was sitting up or hanging upside down. She felt around in the dark, her gloved hand grasping the shotgun laying beside her. So she was right side up, good start.
There was a clunk somewhere and she was blinded, covering her eyes with the back of her hand. A tinny buzz signaled that she was under some lights. She felt her pupils constrict painfully as she squinted at her surroundings.Â
It was an office. An almost perfect imitation of symmetrical, focus-grouped blandness. The cheap carpet beneath her was an inoffensive green, the walls sterile, corporate white, and the drop ceiling above her lit with fluorescent, brain-itching lights. A few posters showing nonsensical cartoons sparsely decorated the walls. One had a man throwing a fish back into the lake he just caught it from with âKeep on The On Keeping Onâ overlaid over the sky in impact font, another showing an orange house cat looking up curiously at a T-Rex, with the quote âIf at First You Donât Succeed, Bite Off Your Tongue and Change Your Name to Xerxesâ on the bottom, attributed to Buster Keaton.
There was a large table set up between the two rows of cubicles, empty bowls that may have contained chips or punch sitting on them, with a few cheap pink party hats and paper plates littering the floor. It wasnât at all clear what the party was celebrating, the only clue being a lone greeting card laying on the table. Pomni brought along the shotgun and picked up the card. It was totally blank on the front apart from some words written in silver.Â
Pomni: âTo our new Employee.â *she flips it open*Â
âThe time for riddles has since passed,
For you are the very last.
We present to you a terror pure
That, by yourself, you must endure.â
One of the tiles on the drop ceiling was knocked loose, falling onto a desk and snapping in two. An arm emerged from the hole in the ceiling, a long, purple arm with a bright yellow glove on the end.
Pomni: Jax?
Another arm emerged from the ceiling, this one soft and plush, a hand with three fingersâŚ
Voice: Pom⌠niiiiiiâŚ
Pomni: Oh my godâŚ
A head emerged from the dark, or rather, two heads. Jax and Ragathaâs heads, squished together cheek-to-cheek and sloppily melted into one another like plastic. Their eyes were blank and staring, the middle eye fused together with Jaxâs yellow sclera bleeding into Ragathaâs white, their mouth a single, grotesque combination of Jaxâs yellow teeth and Ragathaâs sweet painted smile. Their entire body below the chest was a mass of squirming black flesh and multicolored eyes, exactly the same as Kaufmoâs was. Abstracted.
Creature: PomâŚniiiiâŚ.
It fell from the drop ceiling onto the floor, out of sight behind the cubicles. Pomni, her hands quaking, aimed at the cubicles with the shotgun, doing her best to look down the ironsights without dropping it. She only had one shotâŚ
The creature rounded the corner slowly, dragging its combined weight on just its hands. The black abstracted goo stuck to the floor behind it and left a nauseating snail-trail. The creature mewled in agony.
Creature: Pom⌠niâŚ. It hurtsâŚÂ
Pomni: âŚ
The creature leapt forward and grabbed the barrel of the gun, pushing it out of the way and grabbing onto Pomniâs leg. A disgusting, earthworm-like tongue shot out of its mouth and wrapped around her leg as it whined piteously.
Creature: Pom⌠niiii⌠why didnât you⌠save us⌠please⌠make it stopâŚ.
Pomni: Okay.
Pomni pressed the muzzle of the gun to the creatureâs dual foreheads, and it barely had time to look confused before Pomni pulled the trigger and blasted off the top of its head. There was a squidgy explosion of black abstraction goo that rained down on the cheap green floors and into the food bowls. The amalgamated creature, the top of its head now a fine oily paste, slid to the ground off of Pomniâs leg. Pomni stepped back, looking up at the ceiling.
Pomni: âŚYou wanted me to run, right? You wanted me to run away. I⌠I think Iâm done with that. Thereâs no point in running, right? Because thereâs no escape. Running only makes things worse, delays the inevitable. Well. Mission accomplished, I guess. You scared me. But I killed your little monster. So⌠Iâd like to get back to my nightmare now.
She dropped the gun on the floor and opened the exit door, closing it behind her politely.
ââ
Back on the digital beach, Caine and Bubble were still relaxing. A rift opened up a few feet away and the six performers tumbled out onto the sand.Â
Jax: Caine! Bubble! My guuuuuuuys- *makes finger guns at them as he flops onto his back, starting to make a sand angel*
Caine: GADZOOKS! YOU ALL MADE IT OUT OF THERE! CONGRATULATIONS ON DEFEATING THE FIRST EVER PROCEDURALLY GENERATED ADVENTURE!
Caine snapped his fingers and the six of them were immediately clean. The hole in Jaxâs foot knit closed and he sat up, blinking.
Jax: What the- Wh⌠where am I? Oh, man, why do I smell so bad⌠*covers his mouth and where his nose would be#
Layla hopped with joy and went over to Kinger, who caught her in his hands and pet her.
Kinger: Layla! So good to see youâŚ
Pomni: Hold on. Procedurally generated?
Caine: THATâS RIGHT, POMNI! USING OUR CLASSIFIED DEFINITELY LEGAL TECHNOLOGY, MY NEW AI PROBED YOUR BRAINS TO-
Pomni: You⌠left us in that hâŹ!!hole⌠didnât even bother to check on us⌠nearly let us die⌠and you didnât even make it yourself. You spent⌠ALL OF TODAY just sitting on a BEACH?!Â
Caine: âŚâŚâŚâŚWell, everyone deserves a break now and then-
With a howl of Barbarian rage, Pomni grabbed the meat cleaver from Zoobleâs claw and took a swing at Caine.
Caine: WOAH! HEY NOW, TAKE IT EASY-
Pomni: IâM GONNA STAB YOU TO DEATH AND PLAY IN YOUR BLOOD!
Caine: I DONâT HAVE ANY BLOOD- *ducks another swipe* HEY, WAIT-
Pomni continued to chase Caine around the beach with the knife, the ringmaster pitifully trying to calm the madwoman down. The performers watched the chaos with some gratification. Bubble slid them a bucket of seashells.
Bubble: You guys want one?Â
Everyone: No.
Bubble: More for me! *he downs the entire bucket in one go*
Caine: WATCH THE COAT! WATCH THE COAT-

You and Mick have been together for a few months now. Youâre still in that delirious honeymoon stage where everything is perfect. You knew that phase would soon end and the problems would start, but you didnât see how Mick would cause any problems. He was sweet to you, and other than his slight drinking problem, was unproblematic. Even his bandmates, who youâd met a few weeks before, didnât have anything bad to say about him. Which is kinda crazy since they spent a lot of time together. Especially on tour.
You hate to admit it, but you can be a bit of a possessive girlfriend at times. You hate when a girl even looks in his direction. Itâs usually the guy in the relationship that gets jealous easily, but you couldnât help it. In the past things have been taken from you easily because you didnât fight. Mickâs been one of the best things to come into your life and youâll be damned if anyone thinks youâll let him go easily. He really is a great guy. Heâs managed to make you feel at home when youâve never had a home.
You didnât think going out to this club with Mick and the rest of his band was a good idea in the first place. You donât like big crowds. Just looking at the dancefloor nearly gave you an anxiety attack. Youâve always been more of a loner, and youâre okay with that. Why change your ways when youâre happy with them?
Thatâs how you ended up sitting at a table with Vince and Tommy, watching a busty blonde try to hit on Mick. You canât help but feel the jealousy that pricks at your skin. You want to run up to the girl and pull her hair. Just hurt her in some way. Youâre not a violent person. . ..anymore. You used to start bar fights just for the hell of it. You were so numb. Getting into a fight was the only way to feel something.
You donât understand why Mick ever asked you out in the first place. You feel that youâre broken beyond repair. Somehow, Mick has been fixing you slowly. Heâs putting you back together piece by piece. And that made you fall even harder for him. Heâs such a genuine person. He puts you before himself, no matter what. Thatâs definitely something youâre not used to.
Vince was talking to you, but you werenât hearing a word he was saying. Youâre still just glaring at the blonde that will not leave your boyfriend alone. Why wonât she just go away? Heâs obviously not interested. At least thatâs what youâre hoping heâll tell her. Youâve never heard a story about Mick sleeping around, but you never know. He could just be really good at hiding it.
â(Y/N)!â Vince yells suddenly.
You jump, looking over at the blonde. âWhat?â
âI was asking you if you liked. . .you know what? That doesnât matter. What are you looking at?â He asks, looking in the direction you were looking in.
âNothing!â You exclaim, hoping to cover up your tracks.
Vinceâs eyes immediately finds the blonde and Mick. âI see what youâre looking at. Man, that babe is ho-.
âWait a minute,â Tommy speaks up for the first time in a while. âAre you jealous?â
âW-What?â You stutter. âN-No Iâm not.â Damn it. Youâve been caught.
âYou are!â Tommy says, laughing his ass off. âWho knew you could be mean?â
Vince gets out of the booth as soon as a gorgeous brunette walks by, leaving it to be just you and Tommy.
âFor one, I havenât even done anything to be mean,â You say. âAnd for two, you didnât know me before I started dating Mick. I didnât used to be this nice.â
Tommy shakes his head in disbelief. âI find that hard to believe. Youâve been nothing but sweet to us and the boys even when weâre driving you insane.â
You laugh. âThatâs because Iâve learned patience, Tom.â
âI donât think patience has anything to do with it. I think youâre just tolerating everyone.â Tom takes a sip of his bottle of Jack that he bribed the waitress into giving him. âThatâs what makes you perfect for Mick. Heâs just tolerating everyone. Me, Vince, and Nikki more than anyone else.â
You shake your head. âHeâs more. . .put together than I am. He actually has his shit together.â
Tommy laughs. âYouâre still perfect for each other. A match made in heaven, I tell ya.â
You giggle, realizing that last sip of Jack sent him over the edge. Heâs no longer tipsy, but drunk. Here pretty soon heâs going to find a pretty girl to take back to his place.
Just as you predicted, a small blonde walks by, instantly catching the lanky drummerâs attention. Without saying a word, he stood up and followed her. You just hope that heâs not too strong when he flirts with her. You also hope that sheâs drunk so that she wonât get offended when Tom will say something wrong.
Now itâs just you at the table. It feels lonely without the boys with you. Youâve been hanging out nonstop with them since you met them. You love them dearly, but damn can they get on your nerves.
Mick finally comes back with two drinks in his hand. He hands you one as he sits down.
âHey, baby,â He says. âIâm sorry that took so long.â
You just shake your head, quickly downing your alcohol filled drink. With the buzz running through you, you grab Mickâs drink, downing it as well.
âHave you lost your damn mind?!â Mick exclaims. âYouâre not gonna be able to walk out of here!â
You giggle at him in your drunken state. You were tipsy before he got back with the drinks turns out what he got you was vodka. He got vodka too. You donât exactly hold your Russian Water well, so youâre feeling pretty good to say the least.
You lean over since itâs one of those booths that are in a circle, and wrap your arms around Mickâs shoulders.
âMicky,â You slur, smiling at him. âYouâre really pretty.â
He laughs, shaking his head. âYouâre the pretty one, (Y/N).â
âNo!â You argue. âYouâre amazing.â
âI think itâs time for us to go home,â He says, still laughing at your drunk state.
âMmâkay,â You say, letting him get up first. âAs long as when we get home youâll cuddle with me.â
Mick smiles, helping you out of the booth. âOf course Iâll cuddle with you baby.â
This causes you to burst into a fit of giggles.
The next thing you know, youâre in Mickâs apartment. Heâs trying his best to keep you steady, but youâre trying to touch everything and look at things.
âPlease, (Y/N),â Mick begs. âJust go in the bedroom and you can look at all of this tomorrow.â
âDo I still get cuddles?â You ask, smiling sweetly at him.
âYou will if youâll go get in the damn bed.â
âOkay!â You say excitedly. You let go of Mick and run to the bedroom.
In your drunken state, itâs a wonder that you didnât fall and bust your head open.
You flop down on the bed, Mick coming in not too long after you. He starts looking through drawers, hoping to find some of your pajamas somewhere.
âHold on, Iâll be right back. I put your clothes in the dryer before we left so that they would be clean for you,â He says, leaving the room.
You grin. How considerate of him! He washed your clothes so that you wouldnât have to wear dirty ones. As you sit there, you start to get more and more hot.
âFuck,â You mumble, starting to take your clothes off.
You throw them on the floor without thought. Youâll pick them up tomorrow. You lay back on the bed. The comforter feels amazing on your bare skin.
Mick walks back into the room, surprised by the sight of a naked you on his bed.
He laughs. â(Y/N), is there a reason youâre naked in my bed?â
You shrug. âI got hot.â
Mick shakes his head, walking over to you with your clean clothes. He starts to help you get them on. You kept thinking about how kind he is. He isnât even trying to take advantage of you like most guys would. Heâs amazing.
Once he finished, he laid on the other side of you.
âCuddles now?â You ask, almost like a child.
Mick only nods, his tiredness showing. You obviously tired the poor guy out. He turns over on his back, pulling you over so that your head is laying on his chest. You both fall asleep without trouble. You donât know what youâd do without Mick Mars. Heâs your everything.
Heâs your home.

As expected, Dealing with intrusive thoughts is now one of my favorites
Here I come with almost all of my reactions on the episode, even though I tagged the spoiler warnings I put everything under the cut just in case. Enjoy the emotional rollercoaster while I'll probably go and rewatch it again.
Okay kinda expected one or two of the warnings but all of them together what is gonna happen???? (Though they make sense after reading the title)
HELLO FRESH BACK AGAIN
"I'm awesome and I can do this" there goes my boy. *said boy falls flat on the floor* ...come on
I felt that yawn bc I stayed up all night waiting for the video but it dropped at 8 am, I'm an idiot who should've gotten more sleep
"help me" why is he such a mood "everything is going wrong in my life" same but YOU SHOULDN'T SAY THAT LET ME HUG YOU
They're all sinking up so fast god I missed my bois. Also the general awkwardness of Virge and Pat, greeeeat something will go wrong
Virgil just ignoring everything and touching the railing, a mood
ALSO PLEASE LET ROMAN IN THE SITUATION
SECRET SECRETS ARE NO FUN TELL ME NOW OR ELSE WE'RE DONE
wait why does Ro want to be deeply troubled- man are you okay-
LOGAN'S HERE
"your most extreme reaction is an eyebrow raise" "FALSEHOOD" "I stand corrected" omfg
"what are you ta- what are you talking- what are you talking about?" I loved that whole take it made me feel complete
"Look I barely got any sleep" this can apply to a lot of us and I love just how we're all always like "TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF" but in the end this is where we all end up anyway
Okay I'm very curious about these troubling thoughts though
"so sushi" FUCCC I DIED RIGHT THERE
"Don't act like that was an accident" "everybody, Virgil. Let's give it up for the Purp Man" these speak for themselves. Also the purp man is my new fav nickname and I'm gonna use it.
4:17 Patton is adorable bye
"if you continue to push this we're going to end up in really dangerous territory" AND THAT'S WHERE THE TENSION STARTED TO BUILD UP
great flick
"am I delirious or is this the funniest video I've ever made" I felt that
YOU HIGH-JOCKED
okay but when Thomas starts disassociating I also feel really weird like as if there was something blocking my own hearing for real?? And not just the audio edited like that?? Maybe I'm just too tired

Patton and Thomas's yells in unison plus "YOU KILLED HIM" I just I JUST
"Ah, he's the Duke" "....... boo" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Okay but his voice is so on point with his character portrayal he's so weird it's awesome?
SONG SONG SONG and oh goodness the visuals I can't fathom how much editing work must have gone through this, they're all so talented.

"IM GONNA WHIP YOUR BUTT"
a snaKE IT'S DECEIT oh my these silouhettes are so great this is my favorite scene

THE COOL MIRROR EDIT.
god i hate him so much already but i'm super intrigued he's so chaotic the whole team made a wonderful job i'll never stop saying this
"i'm really stupid right now" just how much out of context relatable content are we going to get on this fine day?
omg the dark version of creativity, which can be associated with intrusive thoughts, that's very clever
THE JUICY STUFF DANCE
"Repression can be very bad indeed" I mean he's right tbh it leads to never solving the problem at all
GO LOGAN GO HAVE YOUR TIME TO SHINE FINALLY i missed him
"i can't hear youuuuuu" much like "I don't understand what you're saying I don't know anything about words" THE DARK SIDES ARE ALL SASSY LITTLE BITCHES
pattonnnn did a real good job
THE BRAVE HANDSOME UNBEATABLE ROMAN and mashed potatoes
"scary" and Virgil just gives Thomas a look idk I live on the little details (Im ten minutes into the vid and look how long this post already is)
GEE Remus (already using his name bc it's shorter) looking so offended at the label and then pointing out it should be a Virgil problem whAT DOES THIS MEAN IM SHAKING
WHY WOULD HE BE DECEIT AGAIN IM DYING. "Idk if you guys can tell but I'm a little silly"
"then why are you lying" no everybody I don't need angst
THE BLACK AND THE WHITE THEORY I SAW GOING AROUND good job to whoever thought of that
JOAN
the forbidden dance
INTO A BUTTHOLE WHAT IS IT WITH HIM AND BUTTHOLES
there u go thomas said it too
haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate FHDSLAKLFD
irresponsible parenting, Logan completing the parental unit of the sides
"maybe there's hope for you after all!" me looking at all my wips
REMUS' LAUGH IS PERFECT. also "BITCH WHAT IS *YOUR* DEAL"
"you've never been one to soften the truth" OH BOI HERE WE GO
"do we have some case of brain swap???" I legitly said "maybe" in unison with Patton the first time
Vee pls stop putting Thommy boy down he's having a bad time
Logan trying to put some sense into the situation is my only spark of hope for this to turn back good
REMUS IS SO DRAMATIC
That lick was ....... let's pretend it never happened
"you know who can help us with that???" DECEIT'S SONG COMING UP that was great, imagine the chaos that the duo would create
"THATS WHAT REPRESSION IS?"
gasp Remus trying to make Virgil angry at Logan shall not stand DON'T PUT THEM AGAINST ONE ANOTHER HE'S JUST TRYING TO HELP
"you all are not listening to Thomas" this is the development I needed
"you're just para-" and he cuts himself. You all know what I'm talking about. Foreshadowing probably? This happened too back then when Roman was almost calling him the same. And then Virge looks so hurt I- "thank you for being on guard" that made me want to cry idk
the whole speech Logan gave? Pure gold. That was perfect.
HE SAID FIGURATIVELY *CLAP CLAP CLAP*
"UH RECORD SCRATCH?"
"does this make me cool?" djslagrkglhf also the teeth thing right after what the
... the deodorant eating ...
DUKEY
The first time I watched I thought his name was spelled Remis that's how dumb my Italian ass is
Still I love his name bc I'm a nerd for ancient culture, ESPECIALLY Roman (and ancient Greek but it isn't mentioned here) and I love the little thing they did with both Creativity names, super clever and very much liked on my part.
"I would never hide anything from you" and he looks at Virgil JUST ALL THIS FORESHADOWING
LOGAN SHOWING HIS TEETH BACK UP
"how about you shut up" Roman what the hecc man
THAT THING INTO LOGANS HEAD UNSETTLED ME A BIT
what are they doing to him today let him rest
double blow
"can we logic our way out of that?" everybody nodding was so pure
"shit"
THAT FUCKING JUMPSCARE I'M SORRY WHAT THE FU
"not all thoughts are meaningful"
He's go- no he's back again
THE CALLBACK MENTION AND PATTONS REACTION... probable foreshadowing to what Joan said about there being a part two of SvS?
"When are you actually gonna jump out of a moving car I've been bringing it up for years" so it's not just me..?
"it is okay if the thought happens to cross your mind"
"everything is okay" I'm going to cry I needed that
I love how Logan touches the topic that there is no problem in seeking help from therapists. There's a lot to say on this, but I was really glad that was pointed out since the are a lot of stereotypes on the matter
why did Virgil look like he was about to cry
Patton I love you
Thomas going to rest is what everyone wanted to see
Virgil confronting Remus I'm living you're doing amazing sweetie
"you tickle me emo"
"it was just like old times" then Pat and Lo's looks in this essay I will
ROMAAAAN
VIRGILS SMILE
"YOU'RE ALIVE"
"I LOVE YOU" ME TOO!! ME TOO ME TOO
"are you good?" "are you hurt at all?" I love when the sides look out for each other
"I'm sorry Logan" right through the heart. Another development.
I need y'all to look at Virgil in this exact second because. he.
that's my point.
All those smiles while Logan's talking are making me alive
"No seriously, you're ... really ... cool" I started tearing up right here. Twice. And then Logan sinks down cause he's not at all used to this and he's feeling t h i n g s please keep on being appreciated you deserve it
Also Patton always learning from his mistakes and understanding them when he does something wrong or he thinks in the wrong direction, that's something I think a lot of people need to learn, including myself. Like, it's okay to be wrong and make mistakes, just do your best to make sure you're improving yourself afterwards, instead of dwelling on it too much
"I don't like him" makes two of us
"Soooo you have a brother?" oh boy
The m i r r o r it's making me cry
"He's gone now and he's never coming back!" "I don't think that's-" "BYEE" what was all that talk about repression for if you contiNUE TO DO THIS ROMAN please I beg of you let us hELP YOU he's making me die inside
Oh boi the big moment. I already expected a bomb to drop since Virgil was the last one remaining.
"You okay buddy?" "Huh?" op somehow was already found crying
"I'm a little disappointed in myself" istg all that foreshadowing mixed with me wanting to hug him
The music picking up tension, this is poetic cinema let me tell you
I noticed how he calls them "the others", all these tiny details is what I'm living for
"I should know better" I couldn't beLIEVE IT, also how he seemed to be so frustrated made something inside me break
the pause and then "Because I was one of them", the music stops for a second, a little second in which you can hear my distant screaming "GOSH HE SAID IT IT WAS TRUE"
Thomas is speechless and just stares at him while the music picks up again and then Virgil's sigh and expression sinking down like "there you have it. that's the truth. and you can't do anything about it" he looks so defeated I'm breaking down.
Did I already mention poetic cinema? I just love angst and this scene was perfect
First time watching I, too, barely understood anything I was listening to in the last parte because all of that was really a lot to take in.
"Those thoughts that you may have thought do not define you"
"[the thought] may simply be that we are really okay"
"Go to bed!" me
no im not in the mood for food because for some unfathomable reason I had anxiety before the video dropped yay me
WHY ARE U DRINKING RED WINE WITH THAT DISH
GAVIN BEST BOY EVER
and last but not least: are you fucking serious Remus
THERE'S A SNAKE IN MY BUTT FANDFKJL
I didn't expect this topic at all and I am so glad it was talked about, thankfully my intrusive thoughts do not bother me as much as I realized other people's do. And I never saw anyone talking about this before, which is why it makes this video so important. I saw a tweet recently about someone saying that it is okay if you think about weird things, the important is that you never act on them, that's what makes you a good person. But I think this video really explains it far better and I never realized how common something like this was? So yeah another time in which I've been educated and couldn't be happier about it. These people really are bringing light to the world gah I LOVE THEM.
oKAY guess I'm done this was a wild ride and yeah I tend to point out EVERYTHING, so here you have it, as I already mentioned if you feel the need to geek out too, I'm here for ANYBODY! (pls I have no friends)

The Cinema of 2019: A Literate Ape End-of-Year Review
By Don Hall and Brett Dworski
Editorâs Note:
With projects like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Watchmen, The Mandalorian, and pretty much everything produced for the CW, we are smack dab in the epicenter of the Age of Fan Fiction. The films of 2019 have some nods to this trend with Joker, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Yesterday playing hard and loose with expanding the existing iconography to tell new stories.
We enjoyed a lot of movies in 2019. While not a banner year like 1968 or 1999, the year certainly had its standouts. Here is our end of the year list of the films that impacted us the most compiled by Don Hall and Brett Dworski, both film fans and people with acceptable vision and hearing.
NOTE: These are not ranked because generally, we believe the practice of ranking films is fucking stupid. However, we do rate them from 1 to 5 Apes. Enjoy.
Apollo 11
4 Apes (DH)
There really was a time when America was great. Sure, there was still segregation and violence, the war overseas, the draft, and the host of problems faced by the country but the men and women who took up Kennedyâs challenge to get a human being on the surface of the moon elevated us all. Apollo 11 is a documentary using entirely archival footage of this historic moment when mankind exceeded itself.
Honey Boy
1 Ape (BD)
The anticipated debut of writer Shia LaBeouf is choppy and disappointing. Newcomer Noah Jupe plays child actor Otisâbased on LaBeoufâwhose drunken father disrupts his recent success. The filmâs inconsistencies stem across the plot, casting and performances. The father, played by LaBeouf, flops between abusive asshole and tender daddy by the minute; neither is compelling. Lucas Hedges, who plays Otis as a drug-abusing teenager, looks nothing like LaBeouf or Jupe. And once things get interesting, Otis forgives his pop and tells him heâs âgoing to make a movie about him.â Very original, Shia. The fact that Honey Boy is based on LaBeoufâs life is intriguing, but the film is ultimately a huge letdown.
Midsommar
4 Apes (DH)
Ari Astor gives us a twisted break up story wrapped in the bloody flowered crown of a horror film set in blinding sunlight. I loved Hereditary for a million reasons. I loved Midsommar for five: Florence Pugh, the bizarre mating ritual, the fucked up mushroom visuals, old people willingly plunging to their deaths, and a dude being stuffed into the skin of a recently slaughtered bear and burned alive.
Dolemite Is My Name
3 Apes (BD)
Eddie Murphy rewinds the clock to his Raw and Delirious days in this biopic of Rudy Ray Moore, a comedian and musician behind the Blaxploitation movement of the 1970s. While wildly erratic at times, itâs also an affectionate and sobering look at the hustle of show business. It took years for Murphy to ditch his affable family-man routine, but it was worth the wait: Dolemite Is My Name cements the raunchy, cocksure comic as one of the greatest talents of all time.
Yesterday
3 Apes (DH)
I wrote about this here. Loved it.
The Lighthouse
3 Apes (BD)
Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe are exhilarating in this delirious indie thriller. They play 19th century lighthouse keepers who struggle to maintain their sanity upon learning theyâre stuck on an island off the coast of New England. The stunning black and white landscapes of Nova Scotia are overshadowed by Dafoeâs and Pattinsonâs constant bickering, farting, masturbating, and binge drinking. The Lighthouse is bizarre, hilarious, terrifying, peculiar⌠and quite good. Youâll never view seagulls the same way after watching it.
Endgame
5 Apes (DH)
The culmination of nearly two dozen interconnected films all stemming from my Gen X childhood? Iâve been waiting since I read my first Avengers comic when I was ten years old for this and it did not disappoint. Packed with incredibly satisfying moments (Professor Hulk, Cap gets the Hammer, â...on your left...,â and âI... am... Iron Manâ) this was the most fun three hours I could imagine that didnât involve cheese or sex.
The Art of Self Defense
4 Apes (BD)
This deadpan and absurdist comedy highlights toxic masculinity through a ruthless karate class. Jessie Eisenberg plays Casey, a lonely, frightened accountant who enlists in the course after a mugging leaves him hospitalized. Led by a vain and puzzling instructor, the class soon absorbs Caseyâs life and brainwashes him to commit barbaric acts beyond self-protection. Although clearly a blend of Fight Club and The Karate Kid, The Art of Self Defense carries an unusual rhythm that separates it from its predecessorsâand displays a refreshing kind of filmmaking from newcomer Riley Streams.
Joker
4 Apes (DH)
The politics that suddenly surrounded this were nothing more than distraction. Was it a response to the humorless Woke culture? An Incel Fantasy? Who gives a fuck. It was a film that did something a lot of movies lately refuse to doâit surprised us. It also included an amazing, painful performance by Joaquin Phoenix and, like Logan before it, used the pop culture iconography of the comic book tropes and deepened them in ways that only a bold approach could.
High Life
4 Apes (BD)
Visually-stunning cinematography and a harrowing storyline carry High Life, one of the most daunting films of the year. Set in a futuristic world where death-row inmates are sent to conduct eerie experiments in outer space, High Life is as morbid as it is alluring. The movieâwhich was made in 2018 but not released in theaters until 2019âresembles a space version of The Shining with its isolation-leads-to-madness concept. While too edgy for some, High Life is one of the most uniquely made films in years.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
5 Apes (DH)
Tarantinoâs homage to revisionist history, the plight of growing old and becoming replaceable, 1960s Hollywood, and chock full of snappy dialogue, incredible performances, and both a sense of celebration and melancholy makes this one of the best movies about movies ever made.
John Wick Chapter 3
5 Apes (DH)
With next yearâs Keanu-mas when they release both John Wick 4 and the Matrix 4 movies on the same day (yes, I will participate fully) the franchise that spawned the newfound love for all things Reeves is absolutely worth noting. Full of that comic book/video game world-building, odd but sensible rituals and oaths and rules plus plenty of head-shot, bloody violence, I sat in a Las Vegas theater with a crowd and we all gasped, laughed, and applauded at the absolute action-porn that is John Wick. Yes, these films are pornography of comic book violence and Reeves is our big-dicked John Holmes.
The Painted Bird
5 Apes (BD)
Those seeking a feel good shanât see The Painted Bird, a bloodcurdling Holocaust drama seen through the eyes of a child. Petr KotlĂĄr gives a robust performance as a nameless boy fighting to survive the violent societal breakdown in Eastern Europe. In doing so, he experiences one nightmare after anotherâeach worse than the formerâand loses hope in human kindness along the way. The beautifully shot black-and-white landscapes are a mirage for the routine abuse the boy encounters, leaving audiences as numb to it as he is by the filmâs end.
The Irishman
4 Apes (DH)
Scorsese caps a triptych of films over decades with this much slower but no less magnificent look into the Italian Mafia from the inside/out. Goodfellas is an Irish kidâs ascent and is an explosive young manâs movie. Casino is a Jewish manâs climb up in the Mob and, while still explosive, is a bit more subdued and a decidedly middle-aged manâs film. The Irishman is an old manâs view, looking back, reliving awful and magnificent moments.
Together, the three films mark a masterwork in a genius directorâs canon.
Ad Astra
5 Apes (BD)
Ad Astra takes a different approach than most solar-system journeys by exploring the man behind the suit. Brad Pitt is Roy McBride, an accomplished astronaut whose dedication to space has damaged his marriage. When called upon for secret mission to Neptune, the stoic McBride finds heâs more than a government robot, and his ascent to madness results in one of Pittâs finest performances. Supported by a wonderfully played asshole in Tommy Lee Jones, Ad Astra is as much a family drama as it is a space adventure.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
5 Apes (DH)
Sure, there were unanswered questions leftover and I really didnât care for that kiss at the end but I loved this film from start to finish. Completing a story as massive and, in many ways, disconnected, was a tall order and I think Abrams and team did about as good a job as anyone could expect. This will be in rotation at least a couple more times in the next few weeks.
Marriage Story
5 Apes (BD)
Oscar-worthy performances from Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson drive Marriage Story, a clever, poignant narrative about divorce. Noah Baumbachâs behind-the-scenes view of the crippling situation separates it from movies alike, exploring factors beyond courtroom troubles and custody battles. Marriage Story empatheticallyâand even comicallyâshows both sides of the fight, and its effect will last far beyond the screen. Get your box of tissues ready.
Alita: Battle Angel
3 Apes (DH)
Not a Manga-Boy so the inconsistencies with the story and characters didnât bother me. I thought this was the closest to watching a dramatic video game with some cool performances and great use of camera and technology. It was also the film I saw first as a resident of Las Vegas so that counts for something at least to me.
Parasite
5 Apes (BD)
Superbly written, shot and performed, Bong Joon-hoâs account of class discrimination in Korea is an electrifying and emotional masterpiece. What begins as a lighthearted story of two familiesâone rich, one destituteâspirals into shocking sequences of deception. It has every element of an instant classic: witty comedy, sexual tension, thrilling violence, social themes and a stunning finale that mirrors the horrors of reality. Calling it the best movie of 2019 isnât enough: Parasite is one of the top films of the decade and transcends the arc of modern cinema.

I digress
âTell me, do people ever make eye contact when they speak to you?â You snipe, sitting across from him at the septas library, smirking. âWould you feel better if I went cross eyed?â
THE CROSS EYED COMMENT đđđ FOUL
You must have been embarrassed from the bastard comment the lord made, and for the very thought of being bred like a horse. Aemond hated the thought himself, he would not be providing an heir unless you yourself asked for one.

âI did not say you were not to my taste. I meant forcing an heir was not to my taste.â He rushes out, getting extremely defensive without meaning to. âWhen did you become so weak? I can remember multiple times where your tongue was as silver as a snake.â
âOr maybe I just finally realized that you were being serious all those times.â You seethe, hitting his shoulder.Â
âAnd you werenât?â He is absolutely dumbfounded. You two had been enemies for years? What could you mean you werenât serious?
THIS WHOLE THING WAS WHEN MY STOMACH BEGAN TO HURT
He was ashamed to admit he sat in the library and waited for you to come in just as you always did and bother him. He waited to start a fight with you, already thinking of insults that would keep up with your own.Â
He pretended to read the history book he had snatched that morning as he listened for the door, trying not to seem too excited when he heard it groan.Â
âIt is to my understanding Prince, that Lady Y/n will be staying at Dragonstone with the rest of her family.â
AS SHE FUCKING SHOULD LEAVE HIS ASS
âYou are permitted.â Rhaenyra smiles, patting his shoulder before moving to where his mother stood.Â
NAHHHHH THE LOVE OF MY LIFE WHY WOULD YOU BE SO KIND FUXK NO
âYou had been joking all those years, and I had been an ass.â He speaks, voice tight at the truth, watching your face.
âInstantly. I know. You worry wart.â You laugh, hair blowing in the wind as he looks at you with a raised brow. âGonna keep AN EYE on me, Lover boy?â
đđđđđđđđ HONESTLY DESERVE DONT LET THAT MAN SLEEP HE BETTRR KEEP BOTH HIS FUXKING EYES OPEN CAUSE I WOULD SMOTHER HIS ASS RHE MOMENT HE SLEPT
You looked shocked for a moment before he has his dragon sweeping under yours and taking lead. âBut considering how much I love you, dearest wife, I will consider giving you at least one orgasm.âÂ

Chapter Two: That Sings the Tune Without the Words
Hope is the thing with feathers â
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words-
And never stops â at all
Henry paused in his reading. âYou know, Emily Dickinson was a lot like you.â
Killian looked up from the spindle he was examining. âHow so?â
The boy was perched on a stool in the corner with his literature textbook open on his lap. He rolled his eyes, looking for all the world like his mother. âIsnât it obvious? She was a recluse.â
Killianâs eyebrows rose slightly. âThatâs a big word for a ten year old.â
Now Henry scowled openly. âI hate when people say that. Itâs not a big word at all; only seven letters.â
Killian chuckled at that. âYou are not only incredibly bright, lad, but perhaps my kindred spirit.â
Henry seemed pleased even as he focused again on his textbook. âMom does say Iâm an old soul.â
âOh ho! Now youâre calling me old!â
Henry laughed freely. Killian gestured towards the book in his lap.
âYou didnât finish the poem. It goes on to say, And sweetest â in the gale â is heard, and sore must be the storm â That could abash the little bird that kept so many warm â Iâve heard it in the chilliest land and on the strangest sea â Yet, never, in Extremity, it asked a crumb of me.â
âYou know that by heart?â Henry exclaimed.
Killian shrugged. âI have a book of Dickinson poems. Theyâve always spoken to me I guess, and itâs not as if they are difficult to memorize.â
Henry picked at the binding of the thick book in his lap. âMy teacher thinks studying Dickinson is cool for Halloween. I donât get it.â
âMaybe Because I could not stop for death, he kindly stopped for me, but if she wanted Halloween poetry, she should have gone with Edgar Allan Poe.â
Henryâs brow furrowed. âWho?â
Killian clapped his palm to his heart. âYouâve never heard of Poe? Quothe the Raven, nevermore?â
Henry shook his head. âNope.â
âA tragedy, truly.â
âI figured you must read a lot,â Henry commented, âsince Belleâs always bringing you big stacks of books. Why donât you just go to the library?â
âIâm a recluse, remember?â Killian cleared his throat nervously and scratched behind his ear. âWhy donât you come over here, and Iâll show you how to use this lathe?â
âCool!â Henry exclaimed, tossing aside the book and jumping up from his stool. But he hesitated before coming closer. âBut Mom only let me stay if I promised to finish my homework, and you said youâd help me with those lit questions. There are more questions than there are words in the poem!â
Killian clapped his hand on Henryâs shoulder. âBut Iâve also got to get this banister finished. The faster I get this last spindle done, the sooner I can help you with that poem.â He leaned closer to the boy and cocked an eyebrow at him. âAnd isnât making a mess and using a loud machine more fun anyway?â
âIt sure is!â Henry agreed excitedly as he donned the safety glasses Killian handed him.
Killian stood next to enry
Henry and handed him the final post of wood. âPut the wood on the spindle here,â he instructed, then he handed Henry the chisel. âDo you see this narrow part here?â
âYeah,â Henry said with a nod.
âIt doesnât match the others, so I need to trim it just a bit. So Iâll turn on the machine, and youâll run the chisel along this spot right here,â he shifted the chisel and lined it up properly.
âBut what if I trim it too much?â
âIâll be guiding you through it,â Killian assured him.
âDo you have like a measurement or something? I mean, do you mark the wood? I . . . I donât want to mess it up.â
âI wonât let that happen,â Killian assured him, stilling the slight tremor of the boyâs hand. âBut to answer your question, yes, many carpenters use specific measurements. But for me, itâs art. Do you do any type of art, Henry?â
The boy gnawed on his bottom lip. âDoes writing stories count?â
Killian grinned at him. âAye, my boy, it sure does. So crafting these spindles is like crafting a story. I have an idea in my head, but as I work, sometimes it turns out differently than I expected. Better, even.â
Henry narrowed his eyes, then nodded. âI think I get it.â
âOkay then, ready?â Henry gave a nod, and Killian turned on the machine. The boy leaned in concentration over his work, his tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth. Killian once again though of his mother, for he had noticed the same look of concentration come over her face yesterday when she was carefully cleaning the paintings they had found throughout the house. He guided Henryâs hand when it drifted, but he was impressed with how steadily he worked. He couldnât believe the warmth he felt in his long cold heart whenever this boy and his mother were near.
Killian stopped the lathe and lifted the spindle to examine it, then ran a square of sandpaper across the newly trimmed wood. He looked at Henry with a smile upon his face. âGood job, my boy!â
He grinned broadly âReally? But how do we know it matches the other ones? If you donât measure, I mean?â
âWell, after a while, itâs kind of instinct. But more than that, the slight variations add character. It would look odd if this old house had perfectly matched, machine made spindles on the banister, wouldnât it?â
Henry tilted his head to think about it. âYeah, I guess thatâs a good point.â He looked down at the floor and ground his toe into the sawdust covered floor.
âWhat is it, Henry?â
âI donât know . . . I was just thinking . . . At school, being a little different doesnât mean you have character. It means youâre just . . . weird. Especially when youâre the littlest kid in seventh grade.â
Killianâs eyebrows rose to his hairline. Now the Dickinson poetry and those algebra problems in the boyâs homework made a bit more sense. âHenry, you are a bright boy. That is something to be proud of.â
Henryâs chin only sank lower. âBeing smart isnât cool, believe me.â
Killian sighed and set aside the spindle. âI donât know that I was ever as intelligent as you, Henry, but I was small for my age. Smaller than my brother was at that age too. Liam was built broader than I was, and I wanted nothing more than to be as strong and good as he was.â
Henry finally met his gaze. âSo what did you do?â
Killian chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. âThere wasnât much I could do except wait to grow up.â
âWere you ever as big and strong as Liam?â
Killian rubbed his chin in thought, but in the end couldnât lie to the boy. âNo, but I did work hard when we joined the Royal Navy. And soon, I had callouses and muscles, and could hold my own with a swo- a weapon. I was never as good as Liam either, but I tried. And learning Greek came easier for me than Liam.â He chuckled again and gave Henry a light punch in the shoulder. âI always liked to rub that in just a bit.â Killian grew serious then and grasped Henry by both shoulders. âBut listen, this is very important. Never, never be less than you are just to get people to accept you. Understood?â
Henry nodded, then gave a tiny smile. âMom says girls like smart guys.â
âI sure do.â
Killian straightened to find Emma Swan herself leaning against a post in the entryway from the foyer, her arms crossed over her chest. There was a smile on her face he hadnât yet seen, a light in her eyes he couldnât read. He liked the look on her, though, and he hoped in some small way it was because of him.
âMom, look!â Henry cried. âI got to use the â whatâs it called again?â He turned to look up at Killian
âA lathe.â
âA lathe! I got to use the lathe!â
âThatâs awesome, kid,â Emma said, walking up to rub her sonâs head. Henry wrinkled his nose and reached his hand up to fix his mussed hair.
âI promise the lad finished all of his schoolwork except for his literature assignment,â Killian assured, both hands raised.
Emma tilted her head as she gazed up at him. âI trust you.â
No three words could have flooded Killian with more elation. The sparkle hadnât left her eyes, and he had the strongest desire to trace that dimple in her chin. Instead, he gave his head a slight shake and took a step backwards.
âI did promise to help him with Emily Dickinson, though. After . . . we . . .uh . . . finished the spindle.â He cleared his throat, wanting to curse himself. He hadnât been tongue tied around a woman since . . . He pushed the thought away, unwilling to complete it.
Emma quickly lowered her gaze from his, taking a step back herself. âRight, well, you two get to it. Iâll . . . just . . . start sweeping out this room and the foyer, then get to work in the library.â
âOf course.â
He watched her go, unable to help himself from admiring the way her tight jeans hugged her figure. He rubbed at that hollow place in his chest also unable to wonder if maybe, just maybe, he was able to make her tongue-tied. Of course, thinking of her tongue made his mind race further into inappropriate territory, and he was once again cursing himself.
Bloody hell, Jones, her son is in the room!
****************************************************
Emma sneezed as she set the next stack of books onto the desk in the library. Dust billowed up from the leather bindings and yellowed pages, causing her eyes to water. She ran her now dirty cloth over the cover of the one on top; a book called Her Handsome Hero by an author sheâd never heard of. She set it in the stack destined for the thrift store. She had learned in her research on the house that after Baelfire Gold died with no heirs, ownership of the entire property had been granted to the city of Hopeful. The house itself had been sold and used as a boarding school for wealthy boys until World War II. That meant the library was full of possibilities for their haunted museum.
âHenryâs finished his homework.â
Emma looked up as Killian entered the room. âLet me guess, heâs now playing video games.â
âNo, heâs actually sanding the fireplace mantel.â Killian said as he idly picked up a book from one of her piles.
Emma raised her eyebrows. âWow. Heâs really into this project.â
Killian simply nodded in reply as he continued to shuffle through the books. âI take it this is your discard pile?â
âWell, donation pile. Weâre only holding on to books of literary or historical value.â
Killian chuckled at her imitation of Belleâs accent. He lifted a book from the donation pile. âThis one was written by a Frenchmen in 1773. His only novel; and it barely sold any copies. A shame, really, because itâs quite good.â
Emmaâs brow furrowed when she saw he was holding Her Handsome Hero. âAnd you know this because . . . â
He gestured around the room. âIâve read many books in this library.â
Emma put down the book she was dusting and crossed her arms. âWhen? Shortly after the first moon landing? Thereâs fifty yearsâ worth of dust on these books.â
âWell, um,â he stammered, scratching behind his ear, âI didnât mean these books exactly. Iâve taken copies from here, you know. No one else cared about them . . . â
He trailed off, flashing her a disarming grin, and she knew he was lying. But why would he lie about where he got a copy of an 18th century French novel?
âYou donât have to justify anything to me,â Emma assured him. âWe canât be sure who bought all these books, so itâs not like they can be returned to their rightful owners.â
He turned from her and grabbed another stack of books from the shelf. Emma watched him until he turned back towards her. Then she quickly lowered her gaze to the next book in her hand.
âThis oneâs a keeper,â she said, âTom Sawyer.â
Killian smiled fondly. âAh, yes, about the mischievous orphan boy. I always identified with him.â
âWhich part? Being mischievous I assume?â Emma teased.
âBoth actually.â The grin he gave her was one she knew quite well. It was the kind that hid pain behind a mask of indifference.
âOh,â she said softly, setting the book aside in the too keep pile. The last thing she wanted to do was bond with this man over past experiences. She was already on dangerous ground with him. She had frozen in place when she walked in to find him patiently instructing Henry with the woodworking. And then Henry had actually opened up to him about his struggles at school, and Killian had encouraged him to be proud of his intelligence. It was something Emma had told him a thousand times, but she knew hearing it from a male, especially one he obviously looked up to, would make a world of difference to her son. The entire thing made her heart ache in a way she had never experienced before. Henry had never bonded with any of the men she had dated, not even Graham, who had actually tried to connect with him.
âHave I said something to offend you, Swan?â
Emma looked up into Killianâs concerned gaze and realized she had fallen silent for several minutes. âOh, um, I just . . . â she shrugged as she turned to get another stack of books, âI know what you mean, thatâs all.â
âYouâre an orphan too?â He didnât say it with sympathy or pity, just matter-of-factly, one orphan to another.
âYeah,â she sighed, âlook, can we change the subject?â
âOf course,â he told her softly, then swiftly changed gears. âThatâs quite a lad youâve got there, Swan.â
âYeah,â Emma said, a contented smile quirking her lips, âheâs pretty great. Thanks for spending time with him.â
Killian rested his hand atop hers. âItâs no trouble. I enjoy his company.â
âHey, mom,â Henryâs voice echoed down the corridor. Emma quickly snatched her hand away from Killianâs as they both turned to the doorway.
âYeah, kid?â Emma hated how nervous her voice sounded. For Godâs sake, all the man had done was touch her hand!
âI think I sanded the mantel pretty good, and Iâm starving.â
Emma gasped as she pulled out her phone and checked the time. âHenry, Iâm so sorry, itâs almost seven! Letâs head to Grannyâs and get some burgers.â
âAwesome!â Henry cheered, then he turned to Killian. âYou should come eat with us! Right, Mom? I mean, he helped a lot with my homework.â
Emma tilted her head at Killian and smiled, âI agree. I think heâs earned a bit of a reward.â
She expected him to tease her or lean close and murmur an innuendo under his breath that Henry couldnât catch. She didnât know why she enjoyed flirting with him so much, but she did. Instead, Killian looked like a deer caught in the headlights, his eyes wide and his normally flushed cheeks suddenly pale.
âI would love to,â he stammered, âbut I really canât.â
Emma elbowed him gently in the ribs, âCome on Jones, everyoneâs gotta eat.â
âYeah,â Henry put in, âplease!â
Killianâs eyes darted between the two, and then he leaned close to Emma. His eyes pleaded with her to understand as he said in a low voice, âI really canât Swan.â
Emmaâs brow furrowed, and just like she knew he was lying about the book earlier, she now knew he was telling her the truth. She gave him a slight nod of understanding, then turned to her son.
âKillianâs had a long day, Henry, letâs get out of his hair.â
âAwww,â Henry pouted.
âSorry, my boy, Iâm old remember?â Killian told him, ruffling his hair affectionately.
âSee you tomorrow, Killian!â Henry called as they headed out the door. Emma smiled at Killian over her shoulder, her arm flung around her sonâs shoulder.
It was all so strange. Emmaâs gut told her she could trust this man, and her gut rarely went straight to âtrust.â Yet he had lied to her about the book, something that should have been inconsequential. Then when he told her he couldnât join them for dinner, he was being absolutely truthful. Not that he didnât want to; he couldnât. Emma somehow knew the distinction was important. Killian Jones was a mystery for sure; one that she was determined to solve.
*****************************************************
The pungent aroma of wood stain flooded Killianâs senses and made a slight headache pound at his temple. Despite that, his thoughts continued to wander in the same direction, leading him right back to Emma Swan. He rubbed wearily at his forehead with the back of his hand before rubbing at the post in front of him once again. The feelings that were stirring inside of him were those he thought he was no longer capable of; things he hadnât felt since Milah.
For three centuries, he had watched the world pass before him, ever changing. Yet he was stuck as a mere spectator, forced to hide in the shadows lest suspicions be roused about a man who never aged. That was the reason that female company, or any company for that matter, had been rare in his life. Occasionally he would take a woman back to his cabin simply as a way to release his pent up frustrations and physical loneliness. He always chose those carefully; grifters who were just passing through, or a tourist who was up for a no-strings-attached tryst while she was on vacation. Of course, the more Hopeful deteriorated into a ghost town (pun completely intended), the more he found himself alone for long stretches of time. Until he woke up one day and realized it had been years, not months, since he last interacted with another human being. His voice was rough from misuse, and he startled to discover that he not only conversed with animals and inanimate objects, but himself. It had been a startling and frightening revelation.
That had to be why Emma Swan consumed his every thought, awake and in his dreams. He had gone from being that recluse Henry had mentioned to being in her lovely presence on an almost daily basis.
You donât dwell on thoughts of Belle or Henry all day long. His mind argued. He sighed as he dipped the rag into the dark stain once again. And now here he was talking to himself again.
Everything had changed the day he had literally run into Belle French poking around the castle. Like Henry, she had been curious about the old place rumored to be haunted. Not to mention she was the most adventurous and curious woman he had ever encountered. She had already done extensive research in her beloved library on Gold Manor, and had recognized him immediately, gasping out his name as she dropped her flashlight. Never for one second had she found his story unbelievable. Another way she was like Henry. And now she was determined to find a way to free him from his curse.
In three hundred years he hadnât had a single friend, and now he had three. Though if he were completely honest, his fantasies about Emma Swan were far outside the realm of mere friendship.
âUgh, it reeks in here! How have you not passed out?â
Killian turned to find Emma Swan herself standing below the ladder he was perched on, the sunlight streaming through the brand new glass on the French doors illuminating her hair. The way she wrinkled her nose was adorable while her wide stance and hands braced on her hips shouted feisty strength. She was a contradiction in softness and strength, dark and light, and he found her absolutely mesmerizing.
âI find it clears my head,â he replied dryly.
She rolled her eyes. âLiar.â She reached down for another container of stain and a rag. âThis looks tedious. Iâll start down here, and weâll meet in the middle.â She knelt down at the bottom of the staircase, prying the lid off the stain can with a screw driver. He kept his mouth shut about messing with his tools; she hadnât exactly been making a suggestion. More like an order.
They worked on the banister in silence for several moment before he heard Emma make a little sighing noise. He glanced down at her to see her brow furrowed and her teeth worrying her bottom lip. Whatever she was contemplating, he had a feeling it wasnât the banister in front of her.
âYouâre a mystery, Killian Jones.â
He almost lost his balance on the ladder.
âIâve asked about you around town,â she continued, still not tilting her gaze up to his.
Killian swallowed, unsure what to say as she paused. He should have expected as much. She was the town deputy, and Killian was spending a lot of time with her son.
She calmly got more stain on her rag before continuing. His heart thudded in his chest.
âThe only people whoâve ever seen you around are the postmaster and the employees at the market.â She cut her eyes up to him. âYou love to read, yet you never go to the library.â
âWhy do that when I have a lovely librarian who makes house calls?â he quipped with his most charming grin.
Emma frowned as she turned her gaze back to the banister. Was she jealous? God, he hoped so.
âSpeaking of Belle, sheâs the only one who seems to know your name. And sheâs definitely the only one who ever comes out to see you.â She made a funny sound in the back of her throat. âExcept for me and Henry now I guess.â
âBelle is just a friend, if thatâs what youâre beating around the bush for.â
Emma snorted through her nose. âDonât really care about your social life, Jones.â
Killian made his way down the ladder. âSo you say, Swan, and yet youâve evidently spent a great deal of time looking into just that.â
She huffed as she stood to reach the next part of the banister. Killian moved the ladder down a bit. âPlease, donât flatter yourself. You are an employee of the city, so I have every right to look into your background.â
Killian couldnât help scratching behind his ear. âI â uh â thought Belle handled my paperwork.â
âShe did.â
It was all Emma said on the matter, but Killian couldnât help but wonder. She certainly sounded suspicious. He rubbed his forehead wearily.
âYou know, this stain is giving me a bit of a headache. Do you mind finishing here while I install the new doors on the curio?â
âSure,â Emma replied, âbut leave the ladder. I can barely reach where Iâm staining now.â
âItâs okay, Swan, I find vertically challenged women quite fetching.â
Emma tossed her rag at him, shooting him a withering glare that held little heat. He laughed, pleased to see the spot of pink in her cheeks and the twinkle in her eye. God, he loved teasing her!
They fell into a companionable silence again as they worked, only the sound of his drill bit and the occasional scraping of the ladder breaking the quiet of the room.
âShit, come on!â he heard Emma complain after about thirty minutes of working. He turned to see her atop the ladder, straining to wipe the last spindle in the center of the banister. She was standing on the very top rung, the one that was clearly labeled ânot a stepâ in bright yellow. On her tip toes was more like it.
âEmma,â he warned as he set aside his drill and came closer.
âIâve . . . almost . . . got it . . . â
The ladder rocked as she reached up, and Killian surged forward as Emma lost her balance. She let out a sharp scream as she fell backwards. It was cut off when she collided with Killianâs chest. The rag she was holding hit him in the face before fluttering to the floor, and the can of stain wobbled before tipping over, sending the dark brown liquid streaming like a waterfall down the rungs of the ladder.
He shook his face and blinked to get the dust from the rag out of his nose and eyes. When his vision cleared, he was practically nose to nose with Emma. Her green eyes widened as they stared at one another. Every cell in Killianâs body was keenly aware of Emma in his arms. The slight weight of her legs draped over his left arm, her skin beneath his calloused fingers where her shirt had ridden up, the curve of her breast against his chest, and the arms that were wrapped tightly around his neck. A smile hitched at one corner of his mouth as she continued to gaze at him, her fingertips idly toying with the hairs at the nape of his neck. It sent shockwaves all the way down his spine.
âUm,â Emma finally spoke, âwhy are you still holding me?â
âOh . . . right,â he muttered, his face burning as he quickly put her down. He rubbed at the back of his neck as she straightened the bottom of her shirt. âAre you okay?â
âYeah,â she said with a shrug. She stepped close, invading his space. His heart was beating so loud, he wondered if she could feel it beneath her palm when she laid it upon his chest. âDonât try to distract me with flirting, Killian Jones. Iâll figure out your secrets.â
He quirked a brow at her, then leaned close, swiping his lower lip with his tongue. âWhoâs flirting, Swan? I just saved you from a broken neck. Youâre the one who was fiddling with my hair just now.â
Red crept up her neck as she blinked rapidly. âYou â you are such a â a,â she stuttered, âa . . . â
âDashing rapscallion?â he teased with a pout.
She narrowed her eyes. âAn arrogant jerk,â she finished with satisfaction. He only chuckled as she marched over to grab some rags from the floor. âOh, and by the way,â she added as she began to rub vigorously at the wood stain still dripping down the ladder, âIâve never heard of a cocky recluse.â
His mouth fell open at that. She glanced over her shoulder at him with a smirk.
âI donât know why youâre hiding out here, Jones, but I will find out. Iâm not taking my eyes off you for a second.â
Killian threw her smirk right back at her as he sauntered into her space. He leaned close and winked at her. âI would despair if you did.â
****************************************************
The music had been Killianâs idea, and despite the fact that he was humming a tune by The Cure under his breath as he made even strokes with the paint roller, Emma couldnât help wondering if it was a subtle way of avoiding her. Or something.
She chose to focus instead on the fireplace mantel so she wouldnât accidently paint it âcranberry sunrise.â God, why did paint colors have such ridiculous names? She sat back on her heels, brushing at a stray hair with the back of her hand. Only half of the room was painted, but it really was a great color. For a âhaunted houseâ anyway. The dark wood stains and deep reds would create the gothic ambience they were going for. It would look even better once they put up the gilded wallpaper and the heavy brocade curtains.
Emma glanced over at Killian and smiled when she saw him swaying his hips slightly to the music. She sighed and carefully set the brush down on the drip pan. Then she rose from her position on the floor and walked cautiously over to him.
âUm, Killian?â
He didnât stop with the paint roller, simply looked at her and winked, still swaying a little to the music. âLike what you see, Swan?â
Emma rolled her eyes. âNo, we, uh . . . need to talk.â
He wearily lowered the paint roller. âIn my experience, itâs never a good thing when a woman says that.â
Emma grimaced. Of course he assumed she was about to give him a hard time again. When hadnât she? Pulling her gun on him, calling him arrogant, insinuating that the time he spent with her son was anything less than innocent and kind. He rescued Henry from the barbed wire, and even saved her from a broken neck when she fell from that later. Yet how did she thank him?
âLook, about my . . . asking around about you . . .â
He came incredibly close, causing her to lose her train of thought. He reached up and began to rub his thumb gently over her cheek. She literally felt herself sway as the breath rushed from her lungs. He smiled softly at her.
âYou had a bit of paint there.â
âOh.â
His thumbed stopped rubbing gentle circles, yet his hand didnât leave her face. His fingers gently caressed her jaw line, his thumb hovering over the dimple in her chin.
âAnd as for your little investigation,â Killian said in a low voice, âtry something new, darling. Itâs called trust.â
Her eyes widened as he lowered his hand. âI do trust you! Thatâs what Iâm trying to say.â
His brow furrowed in confusion as he pulled a handkerchief from his back pocket. Who carried a handkerchief anymore? He wet it with his tongue, an act that she found fascinating. Then he tilted her chin up with the tips of his fingers and dabbed at the same spot on her cheek again.
âUh, are you wiping spit on me?â
He chuckled. âAye. I didnât quite get that paint off. You were saying?â
Emma swallowed thickly. It was really hard to concentrate when he was staring at her face that way. Her skin tingled where his fingers brushed.
âI just know what itâs like to screw up big time. To want to start over, and not have your stupid decisions come back to bite you in the ass.â
He smiled again, brushing his knuckles down her cheek. âThere, all gone.â
Emma shook her head. âDo you know what Iâm trying to say?â
He tilted his head at her, both eyebrows raising. âPerhaps.â
She let out a long breath of exasperation. âWhat Iâm saying is I donât care why youâre a loner or what youâre running from. Because . . . you and I . . . we understand one another.â
Killian nodded as he shoved the dirty handkerchief back into his pocket. âAye, love, I believe we do.â
**********************************************
Emma couldnât believe how everything was coming together. The new staircase was complete, not only with the beautiful stained banister, but with patched and sanded steps. They were waiting for a runner to be delivered, and she couldnât wait to see the rich crimson against the dark stain of the wood. Killian had picked it from the sample book she and Belle had brought form the hardware store, the same way he had chosen the paint and wallpaper.
Emma shook her head to clear such thoughts and chose instead to admire the new coat of stain on the fireplace mantel and on the hardwood floors. The house was coming together, that was what mattered. Not Killian Jones and his reclusive tendencies.
âSo what are we doing today?â she asked him.
His back was to her as he hoisted a large, rolled up oriental rug off his shoulder. It caused his shirt to ride up in the back, exposing the hard muscles there. The ones Emma couldnât deny that she had fantasized about digging her fingernails into. Why did he have to be so damn hot?
Killian leaned the rug against several others that were nestled in the corner of the room. He turned to her, flashing that easy grin of his.
âWell, the room is incomplete without rugs, not to mention historically inaccurate. I found these in the attic. They were probably stored up there after the school closed in the forties, so they arenât period accurate, but better than brand new.â
Emma tilted her head and frowned. âTheyâre disgusting.â
Killian chuckled. âAye. But Belle rented a steam cleaner. Itâs out on the veranda. We need to go through all of these, clean them up, make sure theyâre in good enough shape, then figure out where they should go.â
She nodded, âOkay, sounds good. Weâll need one in the foyer, two probably in the parlor, and one in the library. Think weâll have enough?â
Killian patted the rugs. âI brought six down, and left four more on the second floor. Hopefully the rodents didnât nibble on too many of them.â
Emma wrinkled her nose as she thought of the disgusting things they might find as they unrolled them, and Killian laughed. She pulled on the first one and grunted. âHow did you lug these down from the attic all by yourself?â
âEmma,â Killian suddenly said, voice low, âdonât move.â
A shot of fear made her spine go cold as she thought of rats, snakes, and â
âItâs a spider,â Killian continued.
She had to force herself not to scream and do a ridiculous dance around the room. On her list of things that freaked her out, spiders were at the top. Without turning her head, she cut her eyes to her left and saw a black spider slowly descending from a thread of web from the top of one of the rugs. As it spun, dangling just over her shoulder, she saw a distinctive red hourglass marking on its underbelly.
âKillian,â she hissed, her fear increasing ten-fold.
âItâs a black widow, I know, just be still ââ
But before either of them could figure out what to do, the spider dropped to Emmaâs shoulder and then crawled more quickly than Emma could have anticipated down the front of her shirt. All calm flew out of her mind then. She screamed, trembling all over, and without thinking, she pulled her shirt over her head and flung it aside.
*************************************************************
Killian should have been thinking about the poisonous spider if he was a decent man at all. But instead, he was distracted by the smooth porcelain of Emmaâs skin, the curve of her waist just begging to be grabbed, and the way her breasts bounced as she brushed at imaginary spiders. Her bra was a tiny thing that dipped low on the swell of her breasts, and as she bent over, brushing at her arms, they almost burst free of their confines.
âKillian, where is it!â she screamed, startling him out of his inappropriate ogling.
He forced himself to examine her torso in a more clinical way and didnât see anything. He strode quickly over to the t shirt she had tossed upon the floor, and there, crawling calmly over the wrinkled fabric, was the spider. Killian quickly brought his boot down on the creature, leaving a nasty smear of spider guts on Emmaâs shirt.
âSorry, love,â he apologized, âI didnât want to risk losing sight of it again.â
âThank you,â she shuddered, placing her hand to her chest. Which was heaving in a very distracting way, he couldnât help noticing. âDid it get me?â
She pulled her hair up and off her neck, turning her back to him. Killianâs own heart was thudding now, as he gazed at what she was offering up for his perusal. He noted every freckle; one on her collarbone, a smattering around the clasp of her bra, and one large one begging to be kissed at the small of her back.
âUm, no, I donât see anything.â
She turned to face him, her cheeks pale and her lower lip trembling. He didnât blame her; black widow spiders were nothing to mess with. He once again scanned her frame, this time trying (and failing) to be more clinical.
He let out a relieved sigh. âNo, Swan. It didnât get you.â
Color returned to Emmaâs cheeks as she lifted her gaze to meet his. She was still holding her hair in a messy heap atop her head. The atmosphere was suddenly charged, and he noted that her chest was heaving again, but in a different way. This wasnât fear; it was desire. She dropped her hair, and it went tumbling over her shoulder, resting between her breasts in a teasing way. He couldnât help that his eyes drifted from her eyes to watch the tresses brush against her cleavage. When he tore his gaze away, he was relieved to see a slight smirk upon her lips. She took several steps forward, reaching for him with her palms out. Her gaze never leaving his, she slipped them up his shirt, dragging her fingernails through his chest hair.
He couldnât take it anymore; he grabbed her bare waist as he had been longing to do, and captured her lips. Emmaâs hands snaked around to his back, her fingernails scratching in an intoxicating way. They both groaned as they deepened the kiss. Emma pressed herself flush against him, and his only thought was that there was too much fabric separating their skin. Emma seemed to have the same thought as she began to push up his shirt.
They parted just long enough for Killian to get his shirt over his head, then they surged together again. If possible, Emma was pressing herself even closer to him. His hands trailed along her spine, then back up again, pausing at the clasp of her bra. He unhooked it, and relished the feel of her completely bare back under his palms.
He practically growled against her lips as he realized how few surfaces were available to them in this room. He pivoted, pressing her back against the nearest wall as he tugged her bra straps free of her shoulders. Emma broke their kiss to tilt her head back, a moan escaping her lips. He sucked at her neck as he ran his thumbs over her breasts, then he trailed kisses down to the valley between them. Emma arched her back, and he needed no further encouragement as he worshiped each breast with his tongue.
Once he had her crying his name, he fumbled with the button and zipper of her jeans. Then he sank to his knees in front of her as he yanked them over her hips. He trailed kisses teasingly up her inner thigh until he felt her tugging at his hair.
âKillian,â she gasped.
He simply looked up and grinned.
**********************************************************
Emma hooked her bra, then reached down to retrieve her t shirt from the floor. She frowned and turned to Killian, who was pulling his own shirt over his head. Watching the muscles in his arms as he performed that simple task made her think of the way she had gripped his biceps just moments ago as he had thrust into her. She shook her head to clear it. This man was like a drug!
âI . . . um . . . canât wear this shirt,â she told him lamely. Why was this so awkward? They had been far from awkward five minutes ago. Or maybe that was easier because they hadnât been thinking then.
âOh, right,â he said, scratching behind his ear. âCome on out to the cabin, and Iâll find you something.â
âYeah,â she continued, âthen we can get back to these rugs.â
âUm . . .aye.â
Yes, definitely awkward.
Emma followed him out of the back of the house, through the gardens, and out of the door in the hedge. She had come to find out that he was the one who had installed the door, which was why it was so much newer than everything else. They made their way through the trees and to Killianâs cabin, the cool October air making goosebumps rise up on Emmaâs bare skin. The inside of the cabin held welcomed warmth, and Killian made his way quickly to one of the two doors off the kitchen. He stepped inside and began rummaging through the drawers of a dresser in the corner of the room. Emma stood in the doorway, clutching her dirty shirt self-consciously to her chest. The bed seemed to loom large against the far wall, invitingly soft with a homey quilt draped across it.
âThis should work,â Killian said as he turned to her, but when their eyes met, his expression went soft. He tossed the flannel shirt on the end of the bed before striding to her. He cupped her face with his hands and searched her face. The blue of his eyes were bright. âOh Emma,â he breathed out, and then they were kissing again.
Emma wasnât surprised in the least when they tumbled down to Killianâs bed for round too. Somehow, she had known all along this was why she had followed him here.
*************************************************
Killian pulled Emma close, pressing soft kisses to her shoulder blade, her back against his chest. He marveled at how perfectly she seemed to fit against him. She turned in his arms, and he was relieved to see a relaxed smile upon her face. She reached out and traced his jaw slowly, her fingers then drifting to trace the scar on his cheek. He held his breath, partly at her tender touch, and partly from fear that she would ask about the scar. The last thing he wanted to do was lie to her directly. Lies of omission weighed on him heavily enough.
âThis feels strangely right, doesnât it?â she finally said.
He arched his brow at her. âAre you calling me strange, Swan?â
She rolled her eyes and smacked him lightly in the chest. âYou know what I mean.â
He pulled her closer, pressing kisses to her hair. âIf you mean this feels like exactly where weâre supposed to be, then yes.â
He felt her lips curl into a smile against his collar bone âExactly.â
He swallowed hard, then pushed her shoulders gently so he could look into her eyes. He cupped her face again, this time kissing her forehead gently. He murmured against her skin, âThereâs something I want to say, but Iâm afraid you donât want to hear it.â
âThen donât say it,â she whispered back, âplease.â
He nodded, deflating somewhat, but he had been expecting her to react that way. She startled him though, when she shoved him onto his back and straddled him. She grinned down at him, pinning his arms over his head.
âI prefer we not talk at all.â
She kissed him roughly, almost desperately. âEmma,â he groaned, sitting up so he could gather her in his arms. He broke the kiss, brushing her hair away from her face. She looked almost panicked as she pressed her fingers to his lips.
âPlease, Killian.â
He sighed as he let strands of her hair slip between his fingers. âI need to at least tell you that this isnât just ââ
She wouldnât let him finish, but brushed his lips with a chaste kiss. âI know.â
For now, it would have to be enough.
***********************************************************
âBelle?â Emma called as she stepped into the Hopeful Public Library.
âOver here!â the brunette called, waving her hand from behind a study cubicle in the back of the room.
Emma headed that way and found Belle surrounded by books and papers, all of which looked hundreds of years old. Emma smiled as she propped her arms on the edge of the cubicleâs partition. âIâm glad you love this part because that looks incredibly boring to me.â
Belle shrugged. âI canât lie, Iâm a total nerd. Plus, if Iâm going to lead part of the ghost tours, I need to know all the facts backwards and forwards.â
She tucked her hair behind her ear in an almost nervous gesture, then quickly slammed the book in front of her shut like she had been caught at something. Before Emma could give her actions too much thought, the little bell at the circulation desk dinged, and the librarian hurried to her feet.
âComing!â she called to her new patron.
After she left, Emma sat down in the cubicle, suddenly curious what had Belle so jumpy. An extremely old and yellowed paper, covered in a plastic sleeve, poked out from beneath the pile of books. Emma slid it out and gasped at the face she saw sketched there. The resemblance was uncanny, the slightly mussed hair, the scruffy jawline, the thick eyebrows. And even though they werenât blue, the intensity in the eyes was the same.
It looked exactly like Killian.
In the bottom corner, the artist had scrawled her name: Milah. Emma sat back, her mind reeling. Was there a deeper reason why Killian seemed to know so much about Milah Gold and the estate? Was he a descendant of the man in this picture? And if so, why hide it?
Emma glanced over the edge of the cubicle, but Belle was guiding the elderly visitor to the arts and crafts section. Emma turned back to the stack of dusty books and opened the one Belle had shut so quickly when she arrived. Luckily, the brunette had left a slip of paper inside to mark her place. Emma scanned the words, their old-fashioned phrasing tripping her up a time or two. It was a recounting of Milah Goldâs affair with her pirate lover, that much she could comprehend. And two words stood out starkly on the page: the pirateâs name, Killian Jones.
Emma suddenly felt the air leave her lungs as she looked between what she had just read and the drawing before her. Her mind struggled to make sense of it.
âI know it sounds crazy, but itâs true.â
Emma jumped to find Belle standing next to her, an intense expression on her face. Emma shook her head. âI donât . . . I donât know what you mean.â
âThatâs him,â Belle said simply, gesturing to the drawing, âthatâs Killian, the one we both know.â
Emma closed her eyes tightly. âThat canât be . . . it isnât . . . possible,â she breathed out the last word.
âHeâs cursed, you see. He canât leave the manor grounds. He tried to save Milah, but he didnât understand the magic he was dabbling in ââ
âMagic?â Emma interrupted incredulously. She stood quickly, shoving Belle aside. âI â I â have to go.â
She dashed from the library, her breaths coming out in gasps. She raced down the sidewalk, not slowing down until she found herself at the docks. She leaned forward on her knees, waiting for the world to stop spinning. Part of her brain told her it was crazy, but another part started to process all the little signs. How he turned down Henryâs invitation to dinner at Grannyâs. How he never went to the hardware store. How Belle brought him books from the library. The way he reacted to the painting of Milah and Emmaâs suggestion that her grave could be a tourist attraction.
Then there was the drawing made by Milah Gold herself. It was clearly drawn by a woman who knew every inch of her loverâs face. A face Emma herself knew so well, down to the scar Emma had traced with her finger just yesterday.
Shit, was she sleeping with a three hundred year old pirate?

A Ticklish Situation. - a DR2 tickle fic
*WARNING: Contains Danganronpa 2 spoilers. Read at your own risk.*
~~~
Mahiru woke up that morning with a pit in her stomach.
After the previous daysâ events, it wasnât a surprise. The sight of Byakuyaâs bloodied corpse was still fresh in everyoneâs minds. Along with Teruteruâs nightmarish execution at the hands (paws?) of Monokuma.
Mahiru shuddered at the thought and quickly tried to put it out of her mind. She looked at the clock next to her bungalow bed. It was 5:30 am.
So much for getting a good nightâs rest, she thought to herself.
Another image popped in her mind: Nagito in the old lodge. The previous day, he had been knocked out and tied up by Kazuichi and Nekomaru after attempting to sabotage the first-class trial. Some of the students had been assigned to check on him and provide him with meals. After all, they werenât trying to kill him, just make sure that he didnât mess with anyone else and cause other murders to happen.
Today was Mahiruâs turn. She was supposed to bring him breakfast, and presumably feed him, since his hands were tied.
She figured she might as well get it done early before everyone else woke up. This might help her avoid the shame and embarrassment that comes with a girl feeding a boy. She was nervous at the idea of being alone with Nagito, but knowing he was unable to move help to ease her nerves. In fact, the idea kind of aroused her in a wayâŚ
~~~
Mahiru approached the old lodge with a tray of rice and fruit. Seeing the decrepit building sent chills down her spine. She remembered the fresh blood on the floor, the darkness of the room after the power outage, the screams upon the realization of what happenedâŚ
Enough! She gave herself a mental slap in the face. If I keep thinking about it, itâs just going to make it worseâŚ
She entered the lodge and found Nagito sleeping peacefully. How he could rest in such an uncomfortable predicament was beyond her.
Nagito was quite vulnerable in his current position. His hands were chained behind his back with no give whatsoever. His legs were tied with rope from ankles to knees, making standing up on his own impossible. He was pretty much immobile, with little ability to wiggle. Whoever had put him in this restrictive bondage had done so very well. Mahiru had another strange feeling of arousal rising within her.
He should really be more on edge⌠after all, heâs pretty defenseless right now.
She felt bad waking him up, but she figured he would be hungry anyway. She wasnât sure if anyone had brought him dinner after last night. Trying to avoid awkwardness, she patted his head.
âHey. Nagito. Breakfast.â
No response. He was out like a light. She gently shook his shoulders.
âHellooooooo?? Wake up sleepyhead! Itâs time to eat!â
Nagitoâs eyes slowly opened, groggily at first but they brightened when they realized who had woken him.
âAh, the Ultimate Photographer⌠what a pleasure it is to wake up to such an exquisite sight.â
Mahiru felt her face get hot. She wasnât expecting that sort of response.
âAh⌠donât say weird stuff! I just brought you some breakfast, so you wouldnât starve to death. We donât want another murder after allâŚâ
Nagito gave her a sleepy smile. Mahiru swore there was some mischief hidden within.
âWell of course, I wouldnât want my talented classmates to fall into despair. That is, unless that would inspire hope within all of you. I just want to see you all succeed. I care more about you than I do myself, you know.â
âUgh, enough of that already! I just came âcuz I felt bad that youâre⌠here all alone and canât just eat whenever you want. So hurry up and eat!â
Mahiru turned her face away and picked up a bit of rice with some chopsticks, trying to hide her blushing pink cheeks to no avail. She shoved it in his face and waited for him to open his mouth.
But nothing happened. Mahiru opened her eyes and look at the strange boy. He still had the same mischievous grin on his face.
âAw man⌠Sorry Mahiru, I hate to come across as picky, but I actually hate eating rice for breakfastâŚâ
âWh-what??â
Mahiru shot a look of astonishment at the white-haired boy. His face looked serene, as if he didnât realize the position he was in. He gave her a cheeky smile.
âWhat do you mean you donât like rice?? I was nice enough to bring you breakfast and now youâre telling me you donât like it??â
âIâm sorry Mahiru, but I simple have no appetite for rice in the morning. Some toast sounds pretty good, thoughâŚâ
Mahiru slammed down the chopsticks, to Nagitoâs surprise. His eyes widened in response to her dramatic reaction.
âListen, you! I made you breakfast out of the goodness of my heart and came all the way here just as a favor to you! So you better eat this, or else!!â
Nagito smirked. âOr else⌠what? Youâll leave me here to starve?â
Mahiru was taken aback. Was she even capable of that? She scoffed, trying to play it off.
âOr else Iâll make you.â
âO-o-h? And how will the Ultimate Photographer make me eat? Will you pretend that the chopsticks are an airplane, and fly it into my mouth like a baby?â
Mahiru clenched her teeth. She was becoming increasingly more uncomfortable the longer this conversation continued. Being alone with a weirdo boy was already painful enough, let alone feeding him like she was his mother or something. She just wanted to do it and be done with it, so at least her conscience would be clear. But how? Nagito was refusing to eat. There must have been something she could do⌠think, Mahiru, thinkâŚ
Suddenly, a funny thought popped into her head.
A thought that triggered more arousal.
She looked at Nagitoâs tied arms and legs.
A warm feeling grew somewhere deep inside her.
Mahiruâs smile widened.
âI have another idea, actually.â
Then she poked Nagitoâs side. She wasnât sure if sheâd get a reaction because people are all different, and you never really know with these kind of things, but the result was instantaneous. Nagito let out a surprised yelp and jerked away at her touch.
âOh-ho-ho⌠a little sensitive, are we?â
Nagitoâs expression changed from peaceful to fearful almost immediately. It was as if he didnât realize how vulnerable he was until this moment.
âOh-h-h okay Mahiru, I get it, Iâll eat the rice, just-â
âHold on, youâre not giving in that easily, are you? You were so stubborn before! I wonder⌠is it because youâre super ticklish, Nagito?â
Nagitoâs body tensed at the word âticklishâ. Mahiru knew she had hit the jackpot. That arousal she felt earlier was only getting stronger⌠her usually friendly smiled morphed into a devious grin.
âFor being the Ultimate Lucky Student, you sure are in an unlucky position... What happens if I do this?â
Mahiru poked her index fingers on either side of Nagito at random and was delighted to hear even more loud yelps from him. For the first time that she had seen, he was struggling intensely against his bonds. This must really have been torture for him.
âAH-HA-HA-HA! NOOO! AH-HA STOP!â
Mahiru gave him some respite to catch his breath. He heaved and continued to giggle slightly, which made Mahiru chuckle to herself. This could actually be a lot of funâŚ
âAlright big shot⌠you ready to eat?â
Nagito nodded vigorously, âYeah Iâll eat! Just please, donât do that again. I really canât take itâŚâ
He sounded quite desperate. Up to this point, he always spoke with such an aloof and calm tone of voice and came across as someone who was very put together (despite his delirious rantings). However, this Nagito was completely different.
âOh, really? Why not? Itâs just a little tickling! It canât be that bad, can it?â
âYes, itâs really bad! Iâm extremely ticklish, I canât stand the feeling for too longâŚâ
âIs that so⌠mind if I test that?â
Mahiru didnât wait for a response. She spidered her fingers all over Nagitoâs chest and stomach, searching for the areas that gave her the best reactions. She started at his sides, then moved up towards the ribs and gently dug into the spaces between them. All the while, Nagito squirmed like a worm, his attempts to escape her claws futile.
âAH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! STOP IT! HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA I CANâT TAKE IT PLEEEEEASE!â
She ignored his pleas and deftly moved to his sides, wiggling them from hips to underarms and everywhere in between. Nagito desperately tried to flip over and shake her hands off him, but with the way he was tied it was utterly impossible.
He didnât think it could get worse until Mahiru sat on top and started straddling him. Now, he had a lot less room to move and had no choice but to face her directly. Mahiru stared down, with a slightly evil smile, plotting her next move. Her heart fluttered at the sight of Nagito beneath her: frightened, meek, and utterly submissive.
âTell me⌠where else are you ticklish?â
âN-Nowhere! Thatâs it! Please stop! No more!â
âHmm, I donât believe you. What about here?â
Mahiru dug her hands into his underarms and Nagito howled. This was obviously a very sensitive spot. What made it worse was the way he was tied, with his forearms stuck at his sides, so Mahiru sneaking her hands between them and his chest meant that they were trapped there and unable to shake off. Nagito acted as if he was being jolted by electricity. His shoulders thrust forward as if doing ab crunches, and he bounced up and down much to Mahiruâs amusement. The combination of her sporadic finger movements and her long, delicate nails were just too much to handle. Plus, the fact that he could barely move now with her on top of him made it even worse.
âAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! AH-HA! AH-HA-HA-HA-HA! I CA-AH-HA-HA-HA-HA-NT! NOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH-HA-HA!â
Nagitoâs volume and intensity increased with each passing minute. Finally, Mahiru lessened her attack to gentle strokes on his belly. She lifted his shirt, exposing the warm, baby soft skin and the slight muscle definition in his abs. The cool air against the unprotected area gave him tiny goosebumps all over. Mahiru started drawing slow, little circles around his belly button and side to side from navel to ribs. Seeing his stomach tense and hearing his tittered giggles brought her even more joy. For Nagito, this still tickled like hell, but it reduced him to mere giggles rather than full out screaming.
âNow, now⌠just relaxâŚâ
Nagito couldnât even try to form a response. He was still recovering from her underarm attack, and the gentle strokes on his stomach were still unbearable. However, after a few minutes he let his guard down and his hitched breathing began returning to normal. This was his fatal mistake.
Out of nowhere, he felt a visceral tickle deep within the muscles of his stomach. He screamed higher in pitch than he had the entire time. Mahiru was digging her thumbs into two agonizing spots on either side of his belly, right above his hip bones. The sensation was pure torment compared to everything else before. Nagitoâs struggles began anew as he flinched back and forth in a futile attempt to escape.
âAH! HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA! MA-HA-HIRU! STOP PLEASE! I BEG OF YOU-AH NOT THERE! NOT THERE! NOOOOOOOO-AAAAAAAAAH!â
Mahiru knew she was pushing his limits, so she let up on her torture and gave the white-haired boy another break. She took a good look at him. His face was flushed bright red, probably both from embarrassment and lack of air. Sweat caused his silvery hair to stick to his forehead. His chest heaved up and down, covered in damp perspiration
Mahiru couldnât help but stare. From her angle, Nagito looked quite docile. The skin on his chest was smooth as silk and pale as the moon. There was some evidence of muscles in his abs, although not enough to call it a six pack. She had never been this close to a boy, especially with so much of his skin exposed. She felt herself grow warmer, the earlier arousal reaching an all-time highâŚ
In an instant, Mahiru snapped back to reality and threw herself off Nagito. She looked at him one last time, locking eyes with him as he gave her one last pleading look with his eyes. She gasped, realizing how adult the situation had become, and without another word grabbed the tray and ran out of the lodge.
Jeez, what the hell got into me?? She wondered as she rushed back to the restaurant. That was totally out of characterâŚ
It wasnât until she arrived at the restaurant that she realized she never actually fed Nagito, the entire purpose of her trip. Damn it!
Luckily, Hajime was sitting alone at one of the tables. Perfect, Iâll just have him do itâŚ

Jannat Khan: About Mohit's character i would say it's very different from other His layered personality make him different he has so many secrets in ownself And his issues with his father and he neglected him always his mother was with him But she is with him or she is controlling him Everything was superb and his acting and performance is commendable and Flawless hats off kunal Love you Keep Shining always đđđđđđâ¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸ #Unconditionallove #Loveandrespect
Shweta Deshpande: Kunal you were fantastic as Mohit Naik Raikar. My heart ached out for Mohit as he opened up to his baba. I am very thrilled to see that expressions and emotions are your strongest suit. You are the Best! All the very best for all your endeavors, I would very gladly say Kunal you are back with a bang as Mohit with your Midas touch. Love you loads.
Ruchi Gupta: He was lucky to work with all those super actors.. I wish it should open new doors for him.. Only one thing I felt, ki is level ka star and is level ka talent hoke he still getting small role, the other actors of his time period r getting lead roles in big web series.. But still this opportunity was not at all bad and he got to work with prominent actors with strong story plot.. This is very important.. All the episodes were very interestingly and intelligently made to build up the suspense.. I thoroughly enjoyedđ¤đI m taking it as a life changing opportunity for Kunal as I didn't felt disappointed at all because he was flawless in his acting.. Wishing him lots of best wishes and good luck for his future venturesđđđ¤
Vadlapudi Latha: What an amazing, fascinating and brilliant performance by Kunal beta as Mohit!! Kunal has come back as an explosion with a power packed performance as Mohit. He knows how to lock the audience with his expressive eyes. I loved his brilliant expression of anger and frustration when he is being neglected and looked down upon by his own family. And I loved the scene where his Dad comes to his room and confesses to him and the emotions shown by Kunal was sooo real that made me cry. Kudos for his outstanding and flawless performance đđđđđ. The makers of the web series âThe Raikar caseâ did an excellent job by selecting a great talented actor Kunal Karan Kapoor as Mohit Naik Raikar. Hope to see more of Mohit In season 2. I am missing his Leo đŚtattoo. Love you Kunal beta. Always stay blessed.đđđđ
Saira: Kunal Karan Kapoor as Mohit Naik Raikar in "The Raikar Case " did a Marvellous job.In last episode, He is one actor who makes My Heart restless when He cried. I can't see him in Pain... even though I know it's a series and He is just acting. He makes it look So real that one Can't help but feel the Pain of His Character and Cry with Him. Kunal what a "EXCEPTIONALLY GREAT ARTIST" YOU Are â¤đđ
Priyark31: The Raikar Case is the first web series I've watched and it is Kunal's first web series too, so I feel very happy about it. The role of Mohit was a very essential one, as, though the character wasn't focussed on much, it was central to the storyline. Kunal has brilliantly given justice to this role. I really loved the scene between father and son, when Yashwant and Mohit were shown emotionally connecting for the first time. The regret that this bonding did not take place before is clearly visible in the interaction. @kunalkarankapoor has played the part of an overwhelmed son who finally gets the attention and love of his father, that he had longed for all these years, perfectly and watching his scenes is a treat. Atul Kulkarni sir has also played the part of a guilty father to perfection.
Anvi: I will start  off by saying  that I'm overwhelmed  watching  .. kunal karan Kapoor's portrayal  .. as #mohitnaikraikar  in #Theraikarcase. The end  of season  1 was ambiguous.  Which  means  season  2 is in the  pipeline.  And we will definitely  get more to see more of kunal karan Kapoor.  Mohit is a character  who is seeking  for his parents  acceptance  n love from  his parents.  Baba-yashwanth naik Raikar.  Aai -sakshi naik  Raikar.. sadly both his parents are unaware of mohit's trauma.. and that was so beautifully  portrayed  by kunal.. specially when  his father  openly  shows his preference  for etasha (mohit's  sister)... mohit  doesn't  have much dialogues to say ....but his eyes n his body  language  said a lot . That's a plus point  for kunal.  No other actor can boast of this .. kunal's talent  is GOD'S  gift to him. And he is using  it to the optimum.. leaving  his family  craving  for more. The other  scene  which made an impact  on me.. is when mohit  tries  to jump out of the  window... fearing his dark  secret  will be out in the open.. and when  he breaks  down  in rushad's arms... there is a pause.. though the  scene  was for few seconds.. kunal  aced it... he is deprived  of his father's  love... n was looking  for a father  figure  in rushad. Their relationship  was not much defined  in season 1.. but I'm certain  it will be shown  in season 2... The twist  gave  me a shock.. I honestly  was not expecting such a 360 turn  in the story. And when  mohit  clings to rushad n cries.. made my heart ache for him.đ˘. Kunal  is an actor  who always  moves out from  his comfort  zone . He knows he will  be appreciated  n would  grow  as an artist.
Kunal  is an actor  who always  moves out from  his comfort  zone . He knows he will  be appreciated  n would  grow  as an artist.
When the news broke  out that our talented  kunal  is making  a comeback..everyone  was in a state of frenzy.. we just wanted  him back.  I personally  didn't  care what role he had been  locked..  the man was back.  I was floating  in air n delirious  with happiness. Kunal's  performance  reached the  crescendo  in the final  episode... you had  to sit still... so dat u could  catch his performance  n didnt  miss out on any of the minutest  detail.. We as his viewers  could  see various  shades emoted by kunal..guilt , pain ,  fear and frustration.. I could  also see relief.. dat now he had come out from the closet.  And his baba understood  him n his pain... regretted ignoring  his child . Kunal  was as a volcano  waiting  to explode. And the best part is  he was working  with a legend  in his own  right... I'm speaking  of atul sir. I was not feeling  bad that his character  was not that prominent  in session  1..  because  he got  a chance  to work  with some great  actors.. I am waiting  for  season  2... because  kunal  is going  to open  a pandora box.. all the  dark secrets  of the  Raikar  family  will be out in the open..All the best kunal...
Janat:Â Welcome back our hero đ in The Raikar Case you are mind blowing because kunal's brilliant performance is praiseworthy no doubts he is a king of Expressions but in TRC . In His every scene's expressions and body Language is very different and superb đđ Â and what I would say About his acting Kunal Karan Kapoor is effortless and exceptional actor I love his performance in The Raikar Case đđđ
anshkunalian: The surprise package of this whodunit is Mohit Naik Raikar. The character is played by this amazingly talented actor KUNAL KARAN KAPOOR. He brings a new dimension to the story.
vml_brahmam: Kunal Karan Kapoor makes a wonderful comeback as Mohit Naik Raikar and did justice for his role with his fabulous and flawless acting. The King of expressions is back.
suchismitamishra-43022: Performance of actors as kunal karan kapoor, Atul kulkarni , ashwini bhave were absolutely remarkable. Â

Crush Unlocked - Ohmwrecker
A/N: Heads up, some of the dialogue at the beginning is from taken straight from one of Ohmâs videos. Itâs called EVEN THE MIGHTY FALL, HEART OF THE CARDS! | Uno with Friends #6 ft. Bryce, Delirious, Cartoonz. Sorry if some of it is not exact. Itâs sometimes hard to hear with all the guys taking all at once, especially at the end where I take this scene from. Iâll leave a link below if you want to check it out. The part used starts at about 31:30
~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘~â˘
While he made fun of Delirious for doing it over Evan, Ohm found his mind more often than not drifting to the topic of Bryce McQuaid. He thinks â no, he knows â that he shouldnât have these feeling towards one of his best friends. It was wrong, and it could practically change their friendship forever.
His nightmares were often that very scenario. Bryce talking but with his back to Ryan. Bryce purposely not making his baby blue eyes look in his directions. Bryce making sure either Luke or Jon was with them to diffuse any tension. Bryce getting a girlfriend and spending all his time with her. Bryce becoming a stranger to him, so much so that he wasnât apart of his life anymore. It scared Ryan more than anything else.
His mind had drifted again to the blond as he waited for Delirious to play his card. It was him and Bryce vs. Jon and Luke, and both him and CaRtOoNz had Uno. It was on the right color for Ohm to win, and based on what the others were saying, it looked like they were going to win regardless. Luke thought Ohm only changed the color because he didnât have red, which he didnât. But Ryan did.
âShould I go heart of the cards or ..â Delirious asked him.
âNo no no no. Because what if you draw something amazing and you canât play it?â Luke interrupted.
âYeah, youâre right.â
âYou could get a wild though.â Bryce argued, knowing the chances were slim. âYou could get a wild card.â
âOr I could get a double.â Jon added, rolling with Bryceâs train of thought. Ohm instinctively sighed, wanting to win already. But he trusted Bryce enough not to fuck him over in the end. They only needed 37 more points to win.
âYou could get a double.â Bryce repeated. âYou could get really good cards, Delirious.â
âFuck it, weâre giving him low cards.â He finally decided, throwing forward a red two. Delirious snickered, and Ohm finally peeked up a little.
âOh ho ho.â He said, the others probably now seeing that they lost. He couldnât tell though, as they were in their separate houses playing online.
âGood call, good call.â Bryce added.
âWeâve got it!â Ryan shouted. He threw down his red three, this ending the round and the game, effectively.
âFuck.â Delirious sighed.
âYay!â Bryce cheered, and Ohm could only imagine the smile on his face. âWas that 37?â
âThat was it, that was it. That was 41.â Ryan assured him, as they the 41 points they earned boost their overall total to 204, a little more than they needed to win.
âFuck!â Both Cartoonz and Delirious shouted, as Bryce began celebrating. Delirious started complained on how he should have tried because he didnât realize they needed it, while CaRtOoNz simply said wow. Ohm could just imagine the sparkle in Bryceâs eyes, the one he always got when he was excited. He could just see picture his smile and almost every detail on his face.
âWe playing another round?â Bryce asked, and Ryan could almost hear the tiredness in his voice.
âIâm done.â He answered, although he personally wanted to go at it again. âItâs getting late and Iâve got to get up early tomorrow.â
âWe all do, Ohm.â CaRtOoNz reminded him. âBut I am getting pretty tired, now that you mentioned it.â Bryce and Jon both agreed, and the boys shared their respective goodbyes. It hadnât even been a minute from when he logged off until his phone vibrated.
Jonathan
From: You like Bryce, donât you?
Ryan sighed. Of course of all people to notice it, it was someone as dense as Delirious. He wasnât as dense as Nogla, but still pretty dense at times. But if Jon was able to pick it up, was Bryce?
To: On a scale of 1 to big glowing neon sign, how obvious am I?
From: Nanners in Hide and Seek Obvious.
To: Thatâs heâs cheating obvious or where the fuck is he obvious?
From: Look, the only reason I know is thatâs how I sometimes act around Evan. Like itâs my job to make him happy and light up his face on the other side of that screen.
From: Plus CaRtOoNz pointed it out to me. Once I know whatâs Iâm looking for, itâs pretty obvious.
Ryan laughed at Deliriousâ bad grammar, but didnât respond. Luke was always someone who picked up on things very quickly, and of course he told his best friend about it. Finally gave them something to tease about together.
At least he didnât have to worry about Bryce finding out just yet.
~â˘~
âRyan, did you invite Bryce over?â
Ohm froze where he stood in the doorway. The answer to his momâs question was No, he didnât. But Bryce was a good kid, and he would never just show up at someoneâs house without informing first them and their legal guardian a full 24 hours in advance. This was weird for him, and Ryan assumed the only reason he did this was because it was an emergency.
âYeah Mom.â He lied, hoping she wouldnât press him about it now. âIs he my room?â
âYes, he is.â She said, and Ryan started to make his way toward the stairs. His mom grabbed his wrist first, making him stop and look at her. âIs he ok?â She whispered. âHe isnât usually like this. You arenât usually like this.â
Ryan hesitated for a moment. âI had the same thoughts.â He admitted. âLet me just ⌠Itâs obviously an emergency if he came to me without warning. Let me help him.â His mom nodded, and released her grip. âIâll tell you everything later. After he leaves.â
Ryan turned, than practically ran up the stairs and down the hall to his room. He opened to the door slowly to reveal Bryce sitting on his bed. The reddish blond was teary eyed and red faced with his hair all disheveled. He didnât seem to notice Ryan as he entered the room.
âBryce?â The words barely escaped Ohmâs lips before Bryce was hugging him, which was slightly awkward since Ryan was shorter and wasnât expecting it. âUm ⌠Bryce?â
âGive me a second.â He replied, and indeed he released Ohm after a second. Bryce grabbed Ryanâs wrist, and slowly pulled him toward the bed. Ohm blinked at his friendâs strange actions but didnât speak.
âWhatâs wrong, Bryce?â He finally asked. âThis is ⌠just so unlike you.â Bryce took a deep breath, squeezing Ohmâs hand as he did so.
âDo âŚâ He but his lip, almost not continuing with his thought.
âGo on.â
âDo you remember when you came out to your mom?â
Ryan nodded. âVery clearly.â
âTell me about it.â
âWell, for one thing I was extremely scared. My mom was, and still is, a devout Catholic. I was nervous about telling her because the religious community isnât exactly the most ⌠accepting of the LBGT+ community, with all the stereotypes of hating the gays and stuff. But she was very understanding. She said, and I quote, that maybe the Bible isnât entirely true. Gays canât be evil when I raised an angel of a son.â Ryan reminisced, before addressing the elephant in the room. âStop beating around the bush, Bryce. Tell me whatâs bothering you.â
âI ⌠I came out to my parents.â He spit out, so quickly in fact that Ohm needed a second to simply process those words.
âI didnât know you were gay.â
âNobody but my brothers did before now. I still donât know how they managed to get it out of me, but they were very understanding, both with my feelings and my decision not to tell my parents. But I felt like, as I was growing older, I needed to be open with them. So, tonight, I told them finally.
âMy dad was very accepting. Told me he was proud that I had the courage to come out. He even texted me later saying thatâs heâs not straight, but bisexual and he understood what I was going though. My mom wasnât ⌠as understanding as yours. She yelled profanities at me, saying she didnât raise her son to be this way. She told me I was a disease that this world didnât need. I even heard her say that sheâd knew at least one of her sons was a mistake on my way out.â
âOh god, Bryce, Iâm sorry.â Ryan apologized. He felt Bryce rest his head on the his shoulder, and Ohm used his free hand to run his fingers through Bryceâs hair.
âI was so scared.â Bryce continued. âI ⌠I had never seen this side of her before. So I ran to the one person Iâd knew would understand.â
âItâs okay, Brycey.â Ohm spoke softly, not wanting to frighten the blue-eyed boy any more than he was. âIâve got you, itâs okay. And if you need anyone to talk to, Iâm here.â Ryan didnât need to look as he felt Bryce move his head from Ohmâs shoulder to his lap.
âIâm scared to come out to Jon and Luke now.â Bryce admitted.
âYou shouldnât be scared. Thereâs a 50% chance CaRtOoNz already knows and Delirious is too scared to come out of the closet himself.â Bryce laughed a little, and it put a smile on Ryanâs face that he had helped the former smile just a little.
The silence settled over the two, so much so that Bryce fell asleep. When Ohm was certain of his, he carefully maneuvered himself so that he could get out from under without waking the other. Once successful, he made his way over to the door so he could tell his mother all that had happened. Ryan glanced at his sleeping friend, a single lingering thought reaching the front of his mind as he closed the door.
Maybe I had more of a chance than I thought.

Late NDRV3 Chapter 6 + Epilogue impressions
HOLY SHIT ITS SPY BOY ITS SPY BOY ITS SPY BOY???? DANGAN RONPA 0 IN MY V3/???????????????????.... No It couldnât be. Heâs long dead. Yuto Kamishiro canât be this âMakotoâ.  Is Normal-chan our Spoiler-chan? Hmm. I just have a gut feeling heâs a Despair idk why And if heâs so normal, how was he on Kibougamine? Was it the first or the new school??????? HMMM????????
KIBO NO Donât........ I donât want him to die noooo >:C DONT TOUCHY THE ROBOT ....... He might be disconnected from Naegey but heâs still our pinnochio. Kibo wtf plz
Ouma the ultimate fanboy of Movie Vilains. I stg (dem funny glasses omg...... Afro wigs, batcar? Heâs a total fanboy) What the fuck is up with the DICE thing?
Oh I knew the Remembering Light was delayed. But what was the point? Hinder them investigating the Mystery of the school? Thatâs fuckign cheap. Is that the same Makoto from the initial flashback? Iâm gonna bet my ass it is.
Is he calling âthemâ heroes because the Future Foundation members survived a Killing Game, if Tenjouâs game could even be called that? Hmm Did FF fall or not?
OMFG OUMA GRABBED AMAMIâS DOLL........ Thatâs gayÂ
That horse mask wtf  He was a closeted clown all along wow...... Is he a Joker fan? Crimes with laughter and no killing? Color me confused. I guess the Panta shouldâve been a massive giveaway. Did he fall into despair after his crew was taken prisioner? I....Â
Now heâs gonna pull us by the nose again? Wow. OK
âRo is Twinsâ? rantaRO? ShiROgane? Is this pointing to the Mastermind again? Like when he said the first one to die is related to the mastermind? Is that why we werent allowed into Amamiâs room?
OH MY GOD THAT throwback. The nostalgia bricked me in the face. FUCK.... So it definitely wasnât Kibougamine that erased their talents. Then, who was it? Was it the âRemnants of Despairâ aka the SDR2 crew? Who enabled them to erase their talent and hide from the SHSL Hunt?
CHARGE THE KIBO POWER
Omg Ro is twins...... The Gemini dial! Uma is HORSE????? Horse head?????? How far into this did Ouma know? This started being written in chapter 2 no?
Oh so the weird background was Amamiâs room... And he was talking to his future, memoryless self? Thatâs nuts;; Uhm.......  I cannot hold all these wtfs. Did he survive a killing game....... Done with these same students? Done with other students? Because if I was right about them actually being revived and Mastermind redoing it over and over, then he could have survived one of the âpreviousâ âsameâ Killing Game. But maybe Iâm getting ahead of myself @_@ Trying to piece all this shit together is always nuts without the final reveal. But if that were the case, wouldnât he have had another talent, the talent that got him into the SHSL category in the first place?
NO....... How dare you show me everyone being friends? How dare you shove that in my face
Not this twin bullshit again. If you tell me her twin is Monaka iâm gonna murder myself
Catch ALL THE BUGS. Itâs kinda cute that Ouma planned something like that, even if he was the cause for Gontaâs death....... Iâm guessing thereâs some nanomachine that they mistook for bugsÂ
MONOKUMA PLANNED PARENTHOOD omfg. That tacky as fuck room. Of course it has to be a Junko fan. And HO look at the bullshit murder again. Is it just gonna be âAmami was very conveniently killed by the mastermind instead of by Bakamatsuâs trap and she was executed wrongly everyone criesâ thing? Itâs funny Amami had the cheat map version, kinda like if you start Castlevania with the hidden places.
ANOTHER hidden passage in the bathroom...... Iâm not even surprised.Â
I KNEW IT. There WERE lies in the Remembering Light. The question is how to tell between them. Saihara why u not look through all the directories god dingit U friggin detective bitch
Kibo is so cool :C Heâs just so damn Megaman cool. Fuse Megaman and Raiden and you have Kiboo
Ok so..... maybe instead of clones, thereâs... the one that has some sort of Time travel would be? The mastermind? Kaedeâs twin? Time for some 999 SteinsGate bullshit. But then why would they say they can bring back the dead? How would that even work?
Oh no .... I was just thinking Shirogane had very little spotlight moments and even less character development. Now everything points to the Mastermind being a studentÂ
:CCC WELL..... Itâd make her switching clothes with Akamatsu even more ironic. Also again itâd be a twin with blonde hair and a twin with blue hair. What IS IT with this combination???Â
SMH..... The passage in the bathroom completely fucks over Shirogane. Because sheâs the only one that was in the girlâs bathroom for a long time. I shouldve known better than to let myself like her......... Nooooooooooo
53 generation bullshit? What the dicks is this? Hmm. V3. 53 huh. They screwed us over a lot
Yeah so if the memories were indeed false now we proceed to question everything. Is this false too, is this false too? For all we know the world could still be fucked but not from asteroids. But what would be the point if they werenât even from Kibougamine? That would just be lame.
Are they in a simulation again?????? Suddenly Hinata?????? What
Now thatâs just shitposting. Theyâre gonna pull the âitâs fictionâ card.Â
Well. This is extreme shitposting. Are they calling the fanbase sick sadistic fucks? âu guys watching these poor people kill each otherâ or something?Â
I cannot hold this level of meta. All these wall breaks
I CANT BREATHE, LOOK AT THE TITLE SHITPOSTING???? Itâs exactly like series that go on too long
So is solving that one case what landed Saihara in this? Or are their talents actually fabricated as well? <_> Are the people dead or alive?????? TEll me gonta is alive plz Nope theyâre dead. Theyâre all dead for the sake of Tsumugiâs OCs........... GHHGJHDSGJH
Yep we were played hardcore. All the first appearances were the real appearances.
I really REALLY missed the DR1/2 voices DAMN. Fujisaki :C Ishimaru..... Even Celeste FUCK. Was Sayakaâs voice always this amazing? I love how harsh Pekoâs voice is,,,,,, I love the DR2 crew so much....... cries on hands
So many out of character sayings. Iâm sure the characters would loathe seeing themselves say some of those things lmao god
I think they got a real point. How you can suffer and be in pain with a âlieâ, a fiction, but also how you can feel joy and hope out of the same lie/fiction.The dillema of fiction, of experimenting with taboo topics, in this example the killing, and questioning how much it plays a part into the reality side.
But in this case, itâs going to another level. Like questioning human existence in SOMA. If you take a real human mind and place it in a robotic body, can it still be called a human existence? Can humans scanned and preserved in a âfictionâ still be called human?Â
The ideas are very fucking smart. Kodaka trolled us hard while also questioning the entire fanbase and his series base. And dang, all those inside jokes. They really took a good long look at the fandom and how we think; But itâs still hilarious itâs all orchestrated by a greedy company, ran by a delirious cosplayer fangirl and feeding the masses that want both the negative and the positive points of the plot/characters
Kaito was in it for mundane reasons and ended up with the meaningful âprotagâ role huh. I wonder what bullshit Korekiyo said to earn himself such a shitty background story. I like his character. Just..... I wish his reasons were not bad writing. Tsumugi u done fucked up
Robot Bondage? I strangely approve of that
Shirogane waving goodbye with mascot,. throwback to Chiaki....... CRIES
:C Well I was right in not expecting Kibo to live. But still heâs the best survey processor ever. My favorite quiz boy. I will pretend youâre alive and well flying up the clouds cuz FUCK IT
In a sense, itâs like theyâre blowing up a literal hole into ending the series and opening a path to direct the fans back to reality, or per say, the outside. âGo out there, do the thing, hope out there.â
In a world where your identity and truths and lies are uncertain, you have to pave a way for yourself taking the best out of it all? Iâm sure someone will reason this game ending and the analogies way more eloquently, but anyway.
I really enjoyed the story. The extra effort they put on CGs really enrichened everything. Iâm not sure how I feel about the big big big plot twist yet. I guess itâs something to slowly digest over time. Canât say this is my favorite.
Was the time travel thing a misunderstanding by the fans or a prank by Kodaka? I kept expecting it and it was nowhere
Iâd say in most to least fav, Iâm still with SDR2, DR0, DR1, and last? DRAE. I still donât know how to feel about Another Episode or the animes TBH
So this was me going through this rollercoaster. If you read this so far, then I hope you laughed at my stupid at least once. Iâm gonna go and reblog a fuckton of fanart now. Bye

Deadly Dâs SE Asia Tour 2018 "Tales From the Road" What's Up! Magazine (Bellingham, WA) July 2018 Issue âWell itâs been a year Gary, what we doing this time?â I asked in regards to our last tour, one that consisted of 7 states in 5 weeks. After considering if we should hit the same route and build on what we started or go somewhere new, the DJâs response was simply, âGo big or go homeâ. I already knew what this meant. Seeing how our availability to hit the road is limited, we need to maximize our time spent away. Should we hit the east coast this time? Or should we head somewhere that would add to our passportâs stamp collection? One thing we discovered on our previous excursion-something initially done out of a desire to cut down on accommodation costs-was that hostels are awesome. Not only could you save yourself some coin but also they made it possible to meet a hell of a lot of people from all over the globe. Ones just like us, seeking adventure and new friends. This is pretty tough to do holed up in some hotel room. From a traveling hip hop duoâs perspective, this element proved to be indispensable in our attempt to spread our music. With this mind, we began thinking where we could find a location that provides a hostel circuit worthy of our cause. After some microbrew infused research sessions at McKayâs Taphouse, it was decided that Vietnam and Thailand were the destinations of choice. Enter Deadly Dâs âPlant the SEADD Tour 2018â. Both countries attract hostel goers from around the world. If you can accept that your life for the next month plus will consist of dorm style living with complete strangers, you will be introduced to a magical world that can only be discovered by stepping out of your comfort zone. Knowing that booking shows in such a foreign land would be difficult, we figured the environment would help streamline the process. With so many new people with insider tips, local staffers that could point us to the closest open mics and nightly activities such as pub-crawls accompanied by late night karaoke and freestyle cyphers, we figured weâd have little issue unearthing opportunities. So we decided to commit ourselves to find out and booked our flight to Vietnam. A week before we set out I received a message from an old high school friend that read, âWhat time does your flight land in Ho Chi Minh? Iâm picking you upâ. As it turned out my buddy Matt now lived there. Seeing our flight arrived at 1am, having a familiar face greet us upon arrival was a much better introduction to this new land than deliriously showing up at an airport with no idea of where to go. After a quick stop at Bui Vien-the street that never sleeps-for a beer and a banh mi, we crashed out a Mattâs apartment to rest up for our first day in the nationâs capital. The first question raised in the AM was âHoly shit. How many people live here? And better yet, HOW MANY SCOOTERS ARE THERE?!â Turns out 8.5 million residents followed by 7.5 million motorized bikes. And by the looks of it, they all run and I swear they ALL do at the same time. Itâs honestly something you must witness in person. Seeing how that many motorists, driving from all directions, can actually make it work. Itâs the definition of organized chaos. The way it was put to me, âYou can only focus on whatâs directly in front of you. Donât worry about whatâs behind you because everyone there is doing the same thingâ. Regardless, we figured it would be best to save our first scooter experience for another city. One amazing aspect we discovered out there was the local expat communities (expats being individuals now residing in a country they weren't born in) and their willingness to help fellow foreigners navigate this distant land. Utilizing each city's expat Facebook group page turned out to be one of the most useful tools during our trip. In Ho Chi Minh City-or Saigon if you will-this process linked us up with our first show, only 2 days into our journey. Given the opportunity to link up with Ass Kicking Crew, the cityâs #1 B-Boy posse, we couldnât of asked for a better introduction to the local hip hop scene. Welcomed with open arms we were invited to play a show at Cipherz, a venue owned and operated by one of the crewâs OGâs Style D. The talent and humility of these cats was unreal. Representing hip hop in such a way that the US did in the 80âs, they could do it all. MC, DJ, break, graffiti. All 4 elements were on full display. Gary learned some new tricks on the tables from his new friend Phu. I was passing the mic back and forth with B-Boy Xell. Shit was ill. After many Larue beers and a spread of local street food, our first show in Asia came to a close. But not before we were invited to the weekends festivities: Ass Kicking Jam 2018. HCMCâs annual B-Boy summit just happened to fall on our first weekend and we had no idea what we were in for. Bringing his Canon 80D, Gary figured this would be a prime opportunity to put his videographer skills to the test. With over 150 break dancers from Vietnam, Germany, Ukraine, Australia and beyond, what we witnessed was something even a camera canât properly describe (though we will try.. Video coming soon!!). The creativity, originality, pure dexterity and stamina exhibited was incredible. We got to see the lilâ homie Xell take on and battle the entire Ass Kicking Crew as his initiation into the group. Proud to say he succeeded and we were able to witness history. Even Phu who informed me that he doesnât break and just cuts records proceeded to get into the action. Our first stop was insane. Alright, Vietnam. We see you. From there we took a jumper flight to Da Nang. Hostel on point. Hopped in on a food tour and pub crawl to get the lay of the land. It was here where we worked up the courage to attempt our first scooter excursion. We'll be okay if we can make it out of the city to the coastline where traffic is a little less intimidating right? Wrong. Within minutes we were convinced we would become one of those horror stories you hear of tourists who get acquainted with pavement in a bad way. Luckily this wasnât the case and we finally made it to the beach unscathed. Good thing we did because this led to the most amazing jaunt up Monkey Mountain and built up a confidence to utilize the most effective mode of travel in SE Asia, which we capitalized upon the rest of the trip. Equipped with a GoPro on Garyâs helmet we scooted on down Hoi An. Took a pit stop at Marble Mountain, pulled some touristy shit and let go paper lanterns in the Thu Bon River via longboats and partied after hours at Tiger Tiger 2 Bar with our new friend and local guide Nguyen AKA âcall me Justinâ. After a late night cruise and Garyâs abrupt brush with death as he stepped off a cliff when attempting to take a leak, we made it somewhat safely back to the pad. From there we proceeded north to Halong Bay, where we kayaked through caves and explored lagoons surrounded by islands occupied by communities of monkeys. We paid a local fisherman to take us and our newly formed production team of younginâs from the Netherlands to a deserted dreamlike island for a music video shoot. Captain Bird took to the air for his droneâs inaugural flight. Vietnam is insane yâall. Itâs such a beautiful place and the people are incredible. Visiting a place with a history coinciding with our own in the way that it does is humbling to say the least. Taking a walk through the war museum or a Buddhist orphanage to visit with kids still being affected by the tragedies their country faced due to our past influence, you can understand why emotions can run a little high at times. We will forever be grateful for all we experienced in this amazing place. We could of spent our entire tour in Vietnam and still not even come close to seeing it all. But this would have to wait; we had to pick up our singer in Bangkok! So off to Thailand we go! Having lived there once upon a time ago, Lydia would not only act as our fellow bandmate but as a personal tour guide and translator as well. Which was great for a couple of clueless tourists. Another perfect timing âyeah we meant to do thatâ realization was that we showed up during the Thai New Year, Songkran. As a nation we should take notes because weâre doinâ it all wrong. Seeing entire cities engaged in an all out water gun warzone is waaaay more fun than fireworks. Especially spending it in Bang Saen, a place where locals who seem to have never seen white folk go for the holidays. Pure unhinged, positive energy. We then made our way to the jungles of Chiang Mai, hit up the all night hip hop club âSpicyâ and swam with elephants. Yeah you heard me. After we said peace out to the big homies we had to catch a flight back to Bangkok for one of our more influential shows. Connecting with SuperFly, Freshly Squeezed Sounds and everyone at Live Lounge BKK, opened up a world of possibilities for when we make our return trip. Nearing the end of our tale we decided on our next destination. With Lyds headed back home it was up to us to finish this thing out strong. We'd be put to the test as we dropped our pin on Phucket and the infamous Bangla Road. Booking our stay at Slumber Party hostel, we discovered it lived up well beyond what its name might imply. This is where you go to party. This is where you go to dance at clubs with a capacity that could squeeze in all of Bellingham, a place that can really make you feel your age. Iâm proud of how we faired. Well there we were. Finish line in sight. A little over a monththat felt like a lifetime yet went by in the blink of an eye. We returned to HCMC for a final farewell jam session with our Ass Kicking brethren before we headed home. Though this felt like home too. Guess thatâs why we do this. Always trying to find that Highway Home. Guess thatâs why weâre already planning the next journey. âTil next time friends. ~Deadly D Article Link: https://www.deadlyd.com/news/deadlydseasiatourrecap
