TogaChako mermaid fic where Toga is the scary blood-sucking sea creature the locals whisper about. You can identify her by the wide grin she wears, seen only in flashes by fishermen trying to hunt her down.

Ochako is a starry-eyed and curious kid who grew up playing by the water. She's heard the warnings but they don't stop her. When she meets this supposed monster for the first time, all she can think is that it's beautiful, with a shimmering tail, golden eyes, and a smile so large it's blinding. But it's also frail, thin and weak from lack of food.

Ochako who sees Toga with her teeth sunken in a fish, blood running down her chin, tongue lapping it greedily, but is not scared. Toga who is both captivated by Ochako, her softness and her curiosity, but hisses in fear when she steps closer, knowing only hatred and violence from humans.

Ochako who catches her off guard when she stretches out her arm as an offering.

i genuinely think its v sweet how luffy is just genuinely SO excited to see zoro no matter how long they've been apart, even if it was just hours/days. seeing zoro on conomi island. when luffy woke up in alabasta & saw zoro he goes zoro! long time no see! then immediately says out loud to himself 'long time no see.......... why did I say that' (it was three days and luffy was knocked out for most of it). in wano when he goes 'its been forever!!!!!!!!!!!!' (three weeks apart). whenever he sees zoro he immediately calls out his name. not having his first mate by his side is such a constant/comfort that a reunion after even shortest time apart is worth celebrating & acknowledging

what makes me kinda eyebrow raise about how overhaul is clearly portrayed as a one dimensional villain is the way that when his followers respect and care for him because he saved them when they were at their lowest points it's compared to "brainwashing", but when the league respect and care for shigaraki its described as "being a hero for the villains". like okay lmao. i see the double standard.

I honestly think the color red is a symbol of control (specifically Akio’s control)

-Anthy’s rose bride dress which represents her subjugation, also her other red dress. At the end of the show she wears pink to show how she’s broken away from Akio

-Touga’s hair (he’s a victim of Akio as well as emulating how he controls others)

-Akio’s car, for obvious reasons

-Utena wears the red sweater as a symbol of Akio’s control over her after he grooms her

-He (maybe) kills Kanae by feeding her a red apple. She seems almost catatonic in this scene. The apple also has many other implications wrt fairytales and biblical references obviously

-Red flashing behind Anthy in several scenes when she’s in pain, the same with Nanami when she parallels Anthy

I’d really like to do a rewatch looking out for red rose borders or other significant places where the color red is used in this way

Honestly, the intersection of Faramir being named for a royal prince with a Quenya name and Quenya being literally forbidden for names except for royal descendants, and avoided by the Stewards for political reasons for dozens of generations, even though they actually are descendants of Anárion and before the Ruling Stewardship typically used Quenya names to mark their royal origins, but that's been politically fraught for nearly a thousand years, and then Denethor and Finduilas just went "fuck it" and gave their younger son a name that could reference both Finduilas's coastal family (of literal princes) and Denethor's royal ancestry—
