man, I love switching BG3 characters for specific situations, battles and quests but then

Clantrees make crystals. When they were just wee primordial stingstars—- They gained an endosymbiote with a Acantharea-like species which would hitch rides in their mostly fleshy bodies and in return, add some padding and occasionally some rigidity. Down the line that just became. ‘Ah calcium bone? No. Celestine spines and lots of tendons.’ Also why they don’t mind big floods full of erosion. They switch from nutrient filtering to mineral uptake. Perhaps they also play some part in the clantree defenses or strategies. Hmhmhmm. Thorughts.

Since Celestine often the densest mineral of an ocean, build up of celestine also helped push stingstars towards more motile life styles. Needing to find resources as they populate stuff, being able to have a little mass to move around good. And after the moon goes boom, no wonder Clantrees are still standing (and or, becoming amassed into mangled and cavernous hills).

Oof. Thinking how I wanna make at least one branch of the clantrees more self aware, there’s somethin extra sad about the loss of their old ecosystems.

(I also imagine at least parts of some mountains are just. Old forests. Smashed against the sides of mountains and then scarred over like a wound)

Also thinking if ANY tree had stood so long ago that it’d seen the moon, it would be known because that tree would be scarred from the change and they would be different from any other post-lunar offspring had by the clantrees.

(i have this really cool idea inspired by a book series to have Reader their own arcana system and adress her confidants by their arcana and the whole concept is just /smacks lips)
