Today I deem: gloreal life span 50 years til they advance technology. Then it’s 80. But SHORT LIFE SPANS SEMI-DIVISIBLE BY 4 (48 close enough to 50).

So they have special birthdays for every ‘half of your life’. When your born, when you turn 2 (and are allowed into society), when you turn 4 (enter schooling), when you turn 8 (become an apprentice), turn 16 (big life choices time), when you turn 32 (how far you’ve come!) and when you turn 48 (only a quarter of your life to get here but still, meant a lot! Til you can ACTUALLY live to 64).

Ya know. I believed that zodiacs impact on personality may be slightly shaped by the Time people are born and how being raised during certain seasons during certain developmental periods may impact things like your social warmness or introversion (winter vs summer child).

If I think about it that way I think about gloreals having their own zodiac. And it’s shaped by the Phase of Moon (which is an eight year cycle). But like. Either you experience first flood when your Young or when you’re Much Older and have already experienced an abundance of good things. Wonder how that impacts em huhuhu.

Shape of gloreal head and eye placement makes me think it’s kinda hard for them to See Up Peripherally—- they probably have to crane their head more than the average person. Bet the position of Looking Up is meaningful somehow. It’s very vulnerable for sure.

Realizing the concept of a masked vigilante is not unique in any way so the idea that my alien species, with a low propensity for actually enforcing law in some places, might just have individuals who form groups to enforce shit / protect the vulnerable / do good samaritan shit themselves.

It’s a very Flood Surface thought for the gloreals. Those who live loftier lives think little of conflict in terms of violence, they enjoy the use of words and barter and time-based rebalancing (every four years a renegotiation, etc). But for those in the depths, ya know a bit better. I don’t think the clans initially had Root Walkers as guides, but the guides simply organized over time. They’re not regulated by any clan oversight so you can get a shit guide and die out in the roots—- or you can find one part of their own specific group with good reviews and make it to the next clan over.

On the gloreal sexes, some are prone to certain colorations over others—- bUT—- there are exceptions in each that give them plenty of overlap (Investors prone to colorations probably considered rather Fade-caste, but they’ve got colors that could put them in Bright or Shade. Couriers are prone to more Bright colors but have colors which could be Fade or Shade. And Patrons are aposex individuals post their courier life cycle, they are considered highly shade-typical in coloration, but they’ve the rare chance of appearing Bright or even Pale. And once they’ve left the ARBOREAL FORESTS THEMSELVES—- while linked colors seem stable, patterns and distribution of those colors are also incredibly variable.

Gloreal sex is Invested at Birth. And that’s the word they use. To invest in your offsprings sex means to Change their Environment so they mold into the sex you want. Gender? Don’t matter. Sex tho YES if they wanna continue their lineage (they’ll be v disappointed if you don’t share their goals, as parents do), they’ll make sure to get a Patron (alpha-reproductive Carrier; Carries, fertilizes and generates multiple sex types, can have drones) to tag one of their eggs with Patron hormones. Helps promote the birth of more Carriers (tho usually Beta; only carries, fertilizes and does not make their own eggs, can make drones via self-ferto). Otherwise you’re just liable to have more Investors (fertilizer, egg donor, one sex type, CANT fertilize their own eggs) or Vestments (drones, infertile, neuter sex type).
