Part One: What dating them is like
CELIA/CECILIA
Since she works on a farm, she understands how busy and chaotic the growing season can be. Cecilia’s preferred dates are simple. She enjoys daily walks around town with you and maybe a trip on the mountain trails when there is more time. She also greatly enjoys working alongside you on your farm. She especially loves the animals you keep since there are none at Vesta’s. If either of you plan for a day in the city, Cecilia enjoys the zoo and arboretum.
Cecilia is a hard worker and tends to withdraw into her work. If you leave her alone, there is a good chance you won’t hear from her for a week when first dating. A gentle reminder pulls Cecilia from work, and soon, she will prioritize her free time to include you. Cecilia’s love language is acts of service. She enjoys doing things to help make your life easier. Cecilia can become frustrated if she has to ask for help with chores when you start living together.
CODY/GORDY
Surprisingly, Gordy does not hold a great interest in art museums. He would rather attend his niece and nephew's school shows. Gordy enjoys children’s freedom of expression before the rules of adults in art burden them. He is a huge fan of nature walks to search for his inspiration. Gordy will not turn down anything you want to do for a date, believing inspiration can be found anywhere. He won’t say it, but he has a particular fondness for beach volleyball.
He is a thoughtful lover who will put your needs first. Gordy can be quiet, but he is highly observant. His love language tends to be gifts. Gordy feels awkward accepting gifts from you but will provide you numerous gifts. Whether it's a candy he knows you like or a grand gesture, he likes seeing you smile in delight.
DARYL
He keeps a schedule and will regularly come by the farm to see you on most days. Daryl can be neglectful at times, though never intentionally. He'll forget to eat if he is intently focused on an experiment. Planning most dates would fall on your shoulders. Thankfully, Daryl will do essentially anything you want for a date. He enjoys the escape rooms most since they allow you to work together on solving problems. Daryl also enjoys science museums, though he gives you a difficult time about the interactive aspects. He could provide a better experience in his lab and save money.
You wouldn’t have guessed it since Daryl seemed standoffish, but the scientist loves physical touch. He will be quick to hold your hand any chance he gets. Daryl can pout if you drop his hand for something. He struggles to say what is on his heart but is happy to show you. Daryl also enjoys quality time and has a short fuse when your time with him is interrupted. While he understands emergencies with your animals (you can’t control when birth happens), he cannot stand when other villagers take your attention for petty things.
GUSTAFA
Gustafa is generally content to let you take the reins. He will approach you with the things he cares about. Gustafa enjoys attending concerts, craft fairs, and local theater. For daily meetings, Gustafa enjoys learning about how to run the farm. He is always impressed with how you tend fields and provide excellent animal care. Gustafa can notice when you’re too busy or stressed and will settle into playing soothing music for you. If your day runs too long, Gustafa will cook you both dinner after trying to help you finish up.
The most crucial aspect of your relationship with Gustafa is words of affirmation. He can literally spend the day singing your praises and his love for you. While he’s over the moon if you join in, Gustafa understands if you don’t feel comfortable singing. He loves any verbal acknowledgments from you. From your exhausted thanks when he helps you with the farm to whispers in the night, his favorite sound is you. The fastest way to make him a blushing mess is by heaping authentic praise on the man.
ROCK
Be ready for spontaneous dates! Rock lives to the beat of his own drum and will drag you along to that beat. He has no set schedule for what he wants to do. A general guideline is in the Spring, he’ll try to convince you to sneak away for naps or watch him race your farm animals. Summer is filled with floating the river, surfing, and fishing. Fall is reserved for ghost stories and tests of courage. He’ll also want to attend any costume party he can, especially if there is bobbing for apples. Rock simmers down in the Winter to watching cheesy romcoms with hot chocolate.
Rock loves to hear you praise him and acknowledge that you think he’s as great as he thinks he is. He won’t show it, but he gets flustered when you encourage and support him when he talks about starting a fashion magazine. He is not shy about any displays of affection, regardless of the public. Rock will pout like a kicked dog if denied a kiss (he doesn’t believe in simple pecks). He can be appeased with hand-holding so long as your shoulders are touching.

I just rewatched the rako hardeen arc and it once again hits me how incredibly fucked up that was. Like good lord what were they thinking
And I say this not in a Jedi critical way per se but more in a Jedi flabbergasted way??
Bc clearly at SOME POINT the council had a conversation about what to do about the whole chancellor-assassination-plot thing, and what i want to know is whose pitch was “hey Kenobi what if we hire a bounty hunter to shoot you off a roof in front of your padawan and grandpadawan, then we hold a fake funeral for you (to which we will invite your ex/our political rival, and also not Cody) and then we use the machine from the 1997 Action Thriller Face/Off starring Nick Cage and John Travolta to violently transmutate you into the aforementioned bounty hunter (whom we will have in the meantime arrested) then after a brief stay in Supermax Spaceprison you can infiltrate Count Dooku’s secret team-building saw trap cube (designed by famed criminal mastermind Stabbada Badguyman) in order to save the galaxy. Do you. Do you think you’d be up for that”
And obi-wan, fresh off Zyggeria and about halfway through the worst year of his life is just like

Literally so excited to see the revamped no chip au!!!! Can't wait to see what changes you'll make and what it will look like as a more cohesive story/anthology!! <3
Hi. Sorry it took so long to get back to this. As established, if I'm on the computer for more than 10 minutes and not currently doing my job then I have been writing Star Wars fanfiction.
There's quite a bit of changes - some of which are subtle, some of which definitely are not. They're all major to me, but I wonder to what extent some of the changes will be immediately apparent. The nature of writing long stories is that your understanding of the characters, world, and what you're trying to say changes throughout the course of writing it, and as a result sometimes the end can look very different from the beginning. I'm mostly circling back around and a) changing the end to look closer to what I envisioned it as and what I couldn't fully express, and b) changing the beginning to fit in better with the end. I can tell that early on in the series I was still thinking of the characters as, basically, their roleswap characters, and I didn't fully incorporate the differences into who they were.
I think a lot of the changes happened because I settled on a few extremely distinct themes, and I needed to tweak the story to fall into line with those themes. Specifically, I decided to really drill down into fascism. What creates fascists, what propagates fascism, how we justify fascism to ourselves, what fascism does to a world and its people, and the long-reaching effects of it. I think this is partly because I just had to approach the central Thing of the story - how do an otherwise good group of people decide to commit genocide and churn a fascist machine - differently than I was approaching it before.
There's something I really like in writing, when a story is about one central thing and the entire story is just a lot of different ways to explore that one central thing. Infinity Train S4 (where every train was a metaphor for the central relationship) and Dungeon Meshi (where every aspect of the world & worldbuilding was viewed through the lens of ecosystems) did this very effectively. So the entire narrative became a way of taking this central idea of fascism and approaching it through a dozen different perspectives and parallels. It's a huge dissection of "why do well-intentioned or basically unevil people do bad things", but as the story develops the dissection gets into "how does a bad person become a good one".
The story is about one other thing, which is Cody (and Cody is, of course, a dissection of fascism too). The entire anthology is basically a an attempt to decode a person. It's a person who rarely appears on screen, and when he is on screen he's either lying or obfuscating. So the person has to be decoded through a great deal of empty spaces. In rewriting, I was able to focus this a great deal: I was able to draw more effective parallels and use more perspectives to drive into a point. I've frequently been able to demonstrate a behavior in one story, and then explain the behavior in another story with another character.
Of course, the story isn't actually about Cody. The narrative is about parenthood - or more specifically the relationships between adults and children. Another really big recurring theme in the story is toxic masculinity, which is of course authoritarianism, which is of course fascism - which is what connects these two themes and also reinforces what lurks underneath both of these topics. But there's something highly personal about the parenthood theme too. There are 100k+ and 9 stories worth of effort into understanding one person because that is the amount of effort a child puts into understanding a parent who has harmed them.
So that's why it's an anthology now! There are now two central themes linking all of the stories together, and they needed to exist in direct relationship to each other in order to fully explore the topic. There's a lot of usage of negative space, and of something only really being shown through parallelism with another story, and a lot of background exploration of characters through their appearances and arcs in other people's stories. Obi-Wan haunts the narrative a lot, and Cody is stealthily the main source of conflict for literally every single story. They don't appear often but they also never leave. But it takes stepping back and looking at literally the entire deal to see the real reason why everything in the entire narrative happened - and it's not because of Obi-Wan or Cody.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Rival Children
Cody's son! Took a little break but we're back. Without further ado...
August
an artist like his father
came back after travelling for a while, is now working on his "biggest masterpiece"
his works are inspired by the four elements and he often complains about not getting the smell of smoke out of his hair
lives and sometimes also works with his father
his mother remains unknown , though it's implied that she was a young woman helping out at the farm that is now yours
may seem very serious but is actually just shy
he asks if he can observe you work on your farm "for inspiration"
you help him through an art-block so he can finish his masterpiece Rival Relationship: Mikhail & August
two artists - what could go wrong?
usually they peacefully enjoy the valley's nature together, but occasionally they get into heavy debates about philosophy
both don't have the guts to say how they feel but somehow they always end up in the same places at the same time
they inspire each other and are each other's biggest fan
the dig site is their spot
The Children so far: Edie - Ava - Marcie - Rae - Mikhail
In the tradition of the HMDS versions of Forget-me-not-valley there will be two more secret love interests...

How they act when sick
CELIA/CECILIA
Cecilia mostly knows her limits from being sickly before moving to the valley. She will not try to work in the fields but wants to visit the Goddess Pond. Cecilia is surprisingly good at slipping away from Marlin and Vesta’s watchful eye each time. They eventually speak with you to request you keep an eye out and go with her if you can. Ceci notices this after you conveniently follow her along the path with the excuse to pick herbs and flowers. She seems paler as she insists you don’t change plans because of her and worrying about being an inconvenience. You convince her it’s no bother and you’re worried for her health. Over time, you convince Cecilia to use your home as a halfway point. She eventually confesses your milk soup has become her favorite comfort food for the days she feels weak.
CODY/GORDY
Gordy is close to being a perfect patient. He takes medicine and limits his exertion according to what is appropriate without much oversight. Gordy doesn’t cause you any stress worrying over his well-being even while sick, most of the time. He is prone to forgetting to care for himself when inspiration strikes. Gordy cannot let it pass by remaining in bed or sitting idle and must act before the idea flees. He becomes intently focused and often does not hear your protests. Your first fight with Gordy occurred over this tendency. Unable to distract him, you stepped between him and his art. In retrospect, you knew it was a bad idea, but at the moment, you didn’t realize it until his fist hit the metal next to your head. The action scared both of you. Gordy recovered first to lecture you on how dangerous it was to get in the middle. You defended by saying how he wouldn’t listen and take a break. You compromise by him keeping a notepad to note his inspirations, and you make sure to have his attention before moving in front of him while he is working.
DARYL
You find him complaining about the lab being colder lately though it feels like a sauna. It takes a while, but you convince Daryl to hold still long enough to check his temperature. You confirm he’s running a fever and should probably rest and recover. Daryl is appalled by your suggestion. He cannot take a sick day! There is too much Daryl needs to do for the day. Daryl shoos you from his lab so he can continue work without distractions as you attempt to reason with the man. You stop by Van’s to purchase medicine before sneaking back into the lab. You find Daryl writing a formula on his chalkboard though it's just the same small sequence repeating. Daryl is worse than a child in refusing the medicine and taking a nap. You learn Daryl is apprehensive of medication and its effects in forcing him to sleep. He worries thieves will take his work. You promise to keep watch over the lab before he finally relents. Daryl eventually falls asleep with your wrist held in his grasp to be sure you won’t leave.
FLORA
You exit your farm to see Carter heading for the inn. Carter explains that he isn’t sure what Flora is cooking, but he cannot be a part of it this time. Feeling concerned, you head for their tent near the waterfall. Everything appears normal when you arrive. It isn’t until you call out a greeting and pull back the flap you see the problem. Noxious fumes make you gag as Flora turns to you from a tar-like gunk bubbling in a pot. While you try to clean the mess, Flora explains she felt under the weather and planned to take medicine. Then she thought it would be more effective to take all of them and add additional healthy herbs and plants from the mountainside resulting in the black sludge. You beg Flora to let you know in the future instead of taking matters into her own hands. You know several recipes and safe mixtures from your mom’s nursing career that would be better than blind experimentation. Flora looks thoughtful for a moment before agreeing to your request.
GUSTAFA
Gustafa always claimed he was one with nature. You believed him; he was the only person you’d ever seen smile and seem unbothered by a downpour. You weren’t concerned when you found the man leaning with his head pressed to a tree around the Goddess Pond. Gustafa turned his head only slightly to look your way when you teased him about communing with nature in such a way. He offered a weak smile in return, which told you something was wrong. Gustafa tries to wave you off, explaining that he just needs a moment. He felt a little dizzy and wasn’t used to getting sick, so it caught him off guard. You ignore Gustafa’s protests as you drag him back to his yurt. Once there, you have to argue with him about fetching medicine. Gustafa insists it’s nothing that serious, just a cold. You both agree for him to rest and check on how he feels from there. Gustafa comments it’s hard to sleep during the day as it feels too quiet in the yurt. Instead of leaving him to rest, you stay and sing an old lullaby you know until you both fall asleep.
LUMINA
It’s near impossible to assist Lumina when she’s sick, not because of her, but because Romana and Sebstatian hover. The butler banned you from the mansion until Lumina begged to see you. He only allowed you in with strict rules and a search to ensure you weren’t bringing anything unapproved by Dr. Baddoch’s treatment plan. Lumina herself seems to handle her temporary cold well and is more upset that everyone is in a frenzy instead. She dutifully eats, rests, and medicates as she should. Lumina’s only complaint is how dreadfully bored she gets sitting in her room all day. She is thrilled when you bring new books for her. You receive a short heartfelt thanks before being rushed from the manor as Romana summons Dr. Baddoch for a spike in Lumina’s fever when her cheeks turn red.
MARLIN/MATTHEW
Marlin’s old job in the city was not generous with sick time, so he learned to work through it. He keeps the same mindset at Vesta’s Farm. Marlin has trouble accepting that Cecilia and Vesta will handle his share without feeling guilty and pushes forward to do it himself anyway. It takes both of them and threats from Vesta of tying him to the bed to confine Marlin indoors. When you visit to buy seeds, you catch him peering from a window, craning for a look into the fields. You have to lure Marlin from the window with questions about hybrid crops and what would be better combinations. He finally seems to relax as he explains why your first attempts were terrible and how to improve them.
MUFFY/MOLLY
Molly doesn’t get sick often. She claims it's because of how close you get to everyone else in the City. Her immune system had to be strong from a young age. Molly does suffer immensely from seasonal allergies in the Spring and Fall. The amount of pollen in Forget-Me-Not Valley is higher and something she’s only somewhat getting used to. Molly’s dainty sneezes, headaches, and watery eyes tear at your heart. She handles it relatively well, though she clings to your arm more outside when she’s off work. Molly is over the moon when you gift her some local honey, hoping it helps her symptoms. It seems to work, as she’s happy to show off the liquid gold from her hunny.
NAMI
Nami is the type who doesn’t need your help. She is self-sufficient from traveling on her own. Nami would whether treat herself and stay curled in bed than bother anyone else. That isn’t to say she won’t appreciate you doing little things for her here and there. The homemade meals you bring are always enjoyed with one of her favorite worn books while she recovers. Nami does not want you in the room too long for worry that you’ll end up sick. She shoves you from the room when you mention her flushed face and checking her temperature.
ROCK
Rock already enjoys taking it easy and now has the perfect reason to. He handles sickness and pain well overall. You would think Rock was faking his illness or injury if it wasn’t for Dr. Baddoch’s expert diagnosis. You quickly learn giving Rock a bell to ring for assistance was a terrible thing to do. He summons you for everything under the sun. He doesn’t like the TV channel and wants it changed; the pillows are flat, he’s hungry, he needs a sip of water, etc. When he notices you beginning to get frustrated, his reasons change. Rock claims he was lonely and wanted to see you. He thinks cuddles from you might make him heal faster. A kiss would probably be even better.

Playing through SOS: AWL
Was going to see how the bachelors heart events each played out because I didn't play Another Wonderful Life or pay attention to them in AWL for GameCube. I'm still relatively undecided on who Farmer Lincoln's husband will be
But this new promo image with Cody/ゴーデイ and his and the player's daughter has me frothing at the mouth
😍
We love dads on this blog. We know what we're about.
