Day Two - Cody/Gordy
It would be a lie to say Gordy didn’t expect you to say yes when he invited you to join him in ice sculpting. Your unbridled enthusiasm for life was what first caught his eye. So, he knew before asking you would accept regardless of what it was. What he didn’t expect was your competitive nature. Forget-Me-Not Valley didn’t have many events other towns did that involved competition.
Your frequent insistence that you could do this and to focus on his work had chased Gordy from hovering directly over you. His purple gaze drifted to check on you far too often to know what he was creating at this point. Gordy froze as he prepared to place the finishing touches on his sculpture. Between his last check and this one, you had removed your gloves. A brief panic flooded him as he tried to calculate the time in between. Your fingertips were the bright, angry red of the initial stages of frostbite.
“Y/N,” Gordy called, his tools dropped and forgotten in the snow to approach you. Gordy gently pulled you away from the ice when you failed to answer or acknowledge him. He tried to ignore your blush as you bumped against him.
“Gordy, I need to finish. It still looks terrible! You can’t even tell what it is,” you pouted, gazing up at him from beneath your lashes.
Gordy tore his gaze from your face to examine your ice sculpture instead. He couldn’t let himself be swayed by you so easily. The artist would give you anything you wanted if you kept looking at him in such a way. You had chipped the ice away at solid angles. It wasn’t smooth and perfect, but Gordy could quickly tell what it was.
“It looks great, especially without sculpting experience—a very charming chicken,” Gordy complimented.
It matched perfectly with his ice sculpture of a rooster he couldn’t help but note. Your deep blush mixed with a silent protest as he stepped from where you had nestled into his side. Gordy swiftly activated the hand warmer from his pocket before thrusting it between your hands. His hands sandwiched yours as he lowered to blow warm air on your fingertips gently.  Gordy hoped his blush was hidden better than yours as he planned for your next date.

@dedtoot I hope this is okay, but I felt inspired.
Why they're covered in blood. (SFW)
CELIA/CECILIA
You woke gazing at the blue sky and confused about your whereabouts. Dr. Hardy, Takakura, and Cecilia’s faces soon swam into focus, hovering above you. Cecilia frowned at you as the doctor moved away to speak with Takakura. The sight worried you. She only ever smiled. As she helped you to slowly sit upright, you noticed her apron stained with red. You quickly questioned her on what happened, worried she was injured. Instead, Cecilia informed you about your injury. As the brunette explained, your hand traveled to the bandages around your head. Cecilia was headed to the Goddess Pond when she saw you collapse harvesting fodder. Her explanation shifted quickly to a lecture: you could have been seriously hurt! What if she and Takakura weren’t around?  You meekly hung your head, promising her to be more careful in the future.
CODY/GORDY
You felt responsible despite his assurances. Gordy wouldn't have misplaced his next punch if it wasn’t for you jumping out to surprise him. Instead, his hand caught the sharp edge of metal, ripping the flesh across his knuckles. His amethyst eyes widened as much as your own when the blood began to gush from his hand. You scrambled, retrieving your basic first aid kit from your rucksack. Bumps, bruises, and cuts were too uncommon on the farm. You were familiar enough with first aid to assist. It wasn’t until you had the wound clean and worried over the possibility of stitches that you noticed his gaze fixated on the manor in the distance. Gordy softly explained he couldn’t stand the sight of blood. It made him feel faint, and it seemed like a lot. Your heart fluttered at his vulnerability as you delicately wrapped his hand.
DARYL
He was frustrated. You could tell from his muttering and the furious glances he cast at you. For your part, you sat as still as possible, ignoring the stinging as Daryl patched you up. It was an innocent mistake. You had planned to surprise him. He would come home from his daily walk to find you waiting with dinner to share. Instead, he walked into the lab to find you surrounded by shattered glass. Daryl’s eyes almost instantly widened, and his face turned red when he saw you. You quickly tried to apologize for the damage and explained that you accidentally bumped into the shelf. It was soon clear that the scientist didn’t care about the mess or damage to his lab. No, Daryl was upset you got hurt. As he delicately removed another shard of glass from your hand, you focused on his sleeves. The poor lab coat was stained with your blood by this point. Would he let you buy him a new one? Maybe Sebastian knew how to get the stains out if you could get the coat off Daryl long enough to clean it.
FLORA
It was a pleasant day until you found Vesta, Matthew, and Cecilia gathered in the back corner of their fields. You listened as Cecilia urgently told you Dr. Hardy had just gone to the dig site. As the older woman saw your confusion with the words, Vesta calmly attempted to tell you about the cave-in. At the mention of the dig site’s collapse, you rushed up the path. When you arrived to find the damage, your heart dropped to your stomach. Flora’s usual blonde locks were half-dyed red with blood. She quickly tried to reassure you everything was fine as she spotted you from under the doctor’s care. Despite her reassurances of head wounds bleeding a lot and their measures to prevent cave-ins, Flora did not protest too much when you insisted on her staying under your watchful eye for the evening.
GUSTAFA
You cried in frustration rather than pain as you cradled your hand. The sound of a familiar voice calling a greeting soon had you jumping to your feet. You hesitated at the door, unsure how to hide your injury, before shoving your hand in a pocket. The door swung open to reveal the green-hatted musician. While he smiled seeing you, you could tell he knew something was up. A concerned eyebrow rose higher above his shaded frames as Gustafa asked if everything was okay. You shuffled your feet in shame before sliding your hand out to show him. Your hand trembled, the still bleeding wounds now holding bits of fuzz from the pocket lining. He wasted no time in cradling your injured fingers in his hands and tending to them. As he left to wash the blood from his hands, you fidgeted, wondering if he was going to ask what happened. Gustafa returned to your side with the poorly hidden guitar you borrowed from Gavin to learn how to play.
“Hey,” the softness of his voice made you jump. “I appreciate you learning for me, but you’ve got to listen to your body. I hate seeing you hurt.”
LUMINA
Lumina insisted on learning to ride your horse. The young woman had quickly broken from her shell of expectations after your engagement. While you typically supported her exploration, you hesitated on this particular one. Horseback riding could be dangerous. Your inexperienced fiancé was excited to jump fences like you did. Lumina’s pouts as you instead walked them around the pasture were very clear. You hadn’t expected her to take matters into her own hands. So, when you returned to the farm from foraging at the Goddess Spring, you were shocked to see Takakura tending to Lumina. The young woman refused to cry despite the moisture forming at the corners of her eyes. You learned Lumina had tried to surprise you, but a sudden hare sprinting from the back of the property startled her and your horse, sending her to crash. The numerous scrapes and scratches from her trip to the earth while drawing blood looked superficial. Lumina did cry when you mentioned having Dr. Hardy look over her. She didn’t want Aunt Romana to find out what happened.
MARLIN/MATTHEW
The typhoon that swept through only created minimal damage in Forget-Me-Not Valley. Thankfully, your farm was spared the worst of it. Due to your luck, you were helping out at Vesta’s after you finished work. As Vesta and Cecilia tended their fields, you helped Matthew repair a broken fence. The two of you had managed to remove the damaged parts. Matthew insisted on replacing the post, leaving you to gather the slats to attach. The boards fell from your hands as a sickening crack caught your attention. The post driver had slipped from the post, smacking Matthew in the head. He gruffly tried telling the group gathered around him that he was fine. Until a trickle of blood ran down his face. Matthew reluctantly let you and Vesta help him sit inside as Cecilia ran for the doctor. Even after being treated and cleared by Dr. Hardy, Vesta refused to allow Matthew to resume work.
MUFFY/MOLLY
When you arrived for lunch at the Bluebird, you were surprised to find out-of-towners filling the seats. The rowdy bunch was traveling and managed to stop here. You tried to ignore the noise and enjoy your lunch. It wasn’t until an argument broke out between two of the patrons and a glass whistled by to strike the shelves that you acted. After helping Gavin remove the party, you returned to help clean the mess and saw Molly with tears. A thin red line ran across her cheek from the bottles exploding. You hurriedly sat the shaken blonde on a barstool to clean the cut. At Gavin’s insistence, Molly soon followed you back to the farm to take the day off. Tears formed again in her green eyes when you gave her a cream to help ensure there wasn’t a scar.
NAMI
Honestly, it was a terrible idea from the beginning. You were bragging to Rock about learning fencing from Nami. The two of you had the brilliant thought of sharing what you learned. Unfortunately, all you could find were the foils and not the protective gear Nami always insisted on wearing. It didn’t take long before both you and Rock recognized the purpose of the suits. Nami arrived outside the inn from the beach to see you both cut open, the fencing foils lying forgotten in the dirt. She hopped into action, instructing you to apply pressure as she focused on a hysterical Rock first. You were ready to cry and beg Nami to not be angry as well, but you followed her commands. Later once Rock and you were both treated and Nami sporting stained clothing, you sat in the inn’s lobby enduring a safety lecture from the angry redhead.
ROCK
The blonde had arrived at your farm to rechallenge your dog to a race. You hid a smile as you rolled your eyes and let Rock play with the pup. Screaming minutes later startled you and the livestock you attempted to care for in the pasture. You clambered over the fence to hurry to Rock’s side as he rolled in the dirt. Takakura soon joined you as you tried to settle the young man down to discover what happened. From his cries, you worried over a broken bone. Relief and annoyance swept through you as you learned Rock’s shoe slipped off, causing him to trip. His palms were scratched from catching himself on the gravel, droplets of blood dotting the scrapes. You thought the shaken man had calmed down from the injury and his ruined pants when you helped him to a seat inside your home. Fresh wails came from him as Rock saw the hydrogen peroxide in your hands.
“I’d rather Dr. Hardy just cut them off! That stuff stings!”

The bachelors finding out you're pregnant.
CODY/GORDY
You’re worried he’s unhappy when he takes some time to process your announcement silently. You find out how excited he is when Gordy approaches you less than an hour later with complete plans for a new extension to the house and plans for decorating a nursery. He wants your input and ideas to ensure your family's new addition has the absolute best. Gordy backs off some when you insist on the baby being in the same room, at least while they’re small. He has trouble not sharing the news with his mom, who excitedly spreads it amongst their family before you can say anything. Gordy is content to wait on your hand and foot the entire pregnancy. You and Takakura get used to him trailing after you around the farm quickly. Gordy relaxes some only after Dr. Hardy’s assurance and confirmation of safe activities.
DARYL
Daryl shocks you when he is immediately over the moon and excited. He settles down temporarily when you insist on a second test, worried about accuracy. Once confirmed, Daryl is at your side with a plethora of information he has researched. In his excitement, Daryl has overlooked the validity of some information, leaving you with a mix of accurate information and wives' tales. He already has an estimated due date that is accurate to Dr. Hardy’s by the time of your first appointment. Daryl shares his excitement by detailing the weekly changes in your body and your developing child. He has the list of safe medications committed to memory almost instantly and is always on hand with anything you need to make you more comfortable.
GUSTAFA
To say Gustafa was over the moon would be an understatement. He can stay quiet as long as you ask him to about the pregnancy, but you can see the struggle. The poor man is just beyond excited to be a father. He frustrates you when he laughs at your mood swings. Gustafa thinks they’re cute and enjoys seeing this new side of you. He never takes anything you say while hangry or sick to heart and provides nothing but reassurance when you worry. Gustafa begins speaking to the baby in your womb long before they could even be aware of it. He shares stories of what he hopes to do together and how much he loves you. Later in the pregnancy, Gustafa plays music often for you and the developing child. He hopes they’ll enjoy music but is thrilled about expanding your family and already unconditionally loving your child.
MARLIN/MATTHEW
Like Daryl, Marlin has researched everything he could about what to avoid during your pregnancy. However, unlike the scientist, he remains calm enough to filter through the wives' tales and superstitions. Marlin’s worry comes across as frustration if you refuse a meal due to the smells. The man is excellent at keeping track of your cravings and aversions. He also becomes increasingly focused on ensuring you only have the highest quality of food during your pregnancy. Marlin hovers and gets underfoot, trying to do more of your work on the farm during the pregnancy. You won’t tell him, but the smile he had when he first saw imaging of your child is something you’ll never forget. The giant grin was bigger than your wedding day, and you can't even be upset about it.
ROCK
Rock is so excited that the entire town knows before you can speak with Dr. Hardy. He nicknames the developing child Burt, short for Eggburt, and uses it consistently in every conversation. He’s grossed out if you suffer morning sickness and is a sympathetic vomiter. You quickly assure Rock it’s fine if he keeps away during morning sickness. He does his best to cook meals for you (he supervises Ruby’s cooking and tells you what’s great about it for your developing child). Rock has never been fond of hard labor, and while he doesn’t take on the more difficult tasks (leaving them to Takakura instead), he does help more around the farm while you’re pregnant.

Part One: What dating them is like
CELIA/CECILIA
Since she works on a farm, she understands how busy and chaotic the growing season can be. Cecilia’s preferred dates are simple. She enjoys daily walks around town with you and maybe a trip on the mountain trails when there is more time. She also greatly enjoys working alongside you on your farm. She especially loves the animals you keep since there are none at Vesta’s. If either of you plan for a day in the city, Cecilia enjoys the zoo and arboretum.
Cecilia is a hard worker and tends to withdraw into her work. If you leave her alone, there is a good chance you won’t hear from her for a week when first dating. A gentle reminder pulls Cecilia from work, and soon, she will prioritize her free time to include you. Cecilia’s love language is acts of service. She enjoys doing things to help make your life easier. Cecilia can become frustrated if she has to ask for help with chores when you start living together.
CODY/GORDY
Surprisingly, Gordy does not hold a great interest in art museums. He would rather attend his niece and nephew's school shows. Gordy enjoys children’s freedom of expression before the rules of adults in art burden them. He is a huge fan of nature walks to search for his inspiration. Gordy will not turn down anything you want to do for a date, believing inspiration can be found anywhere. He won’t say it, but he has a particular fondness for beach volleyball.
He is a thoughtful lover who will put your needs first. Gordy can be quiet, but he is highly observant. His love language tends to be gifts. Gordy feels awkward accepting gifts from you but will provide you numerous gifts. Whether it's a candy he knows you like or a grand gesture, he likes seeing you smile in delight.
DARYL
He keeps a schedule and will regularly come by the farm to see you on most days. Daryl can be neglectful at times, though never intentionally. He'll forget to eat if he is intently focused on an experiment. Planning most dates would fall on your shoulders. Thankfully, Daryl will do essentially anything you want for a date. He enjoys the escape rooms most since they allow you to work together on solving problems. Daryl also enjoys science museums, though he gives you a difficult time about the interactive aspects. He could provide a better experience in his lab and save money.
You wouldn’t have guessed it since Daryl seemed standoffish, but the scientist loves physical touch. He will be quick to hold your hand any chance he gets. Daryl can pout if you drop his hand for something. He struggles to say what is on his heart but is happy to show you. Daryl also enjoys quality time and has a short fuse when your time with him is interrupted. While he understands emergencies with your animals (you can’t control when birth happens), he cannot stand when other villagers take your attention for petty things.
GUSTAFA
Gustafa is generally content to let you take the reins. He will approach you with the things he cares about. Gustafa enjoys attending concerts, craft fairs, and local theater. For daily meetings, Gustafa enjoys learning about how to run the farm. He is always impressed with how you tend fields and provide excellent animal care. Gustafa can notice when you’re too busy or stressed and will settle into playing soothing music for you. If your day runs too long, Gustafa will cook you both dinner after trying to help you finish up.
The most crucial aspect of your relationship with Gustafa is words of affirmation. He can literally spend the day singing your praises and his love for you. While he’s over the moon if you join in, Gustafa understands if you don’t feel comfortable singing. He loves any verbal acknowledgments from you. From your exhausted thanks when he helps you with the farm to whispers in the night, his favorite sound is you. The fastest way to make him a blushing mess is by heaping authentic praise on the man.
ROCK
Be ready for spontaneous dates! Rock lives to the beat of his own drum and will drag you along to that beat. He has no set schedule for what he wants to do. A general guideline is in the Spring, he’ll try to convince you to sneak away for naps or watch him race your farm animals. Summer is filled with floating the river, surfing, and fishing. Fall is reserved for ghost stories and tests of courage. He’ll also want to attend any costume party he can, especially if there is bobbing for apples. Rock simmers down in the Winter to watching cheesy romcoms with hot chocolate.
Rock loves to hear you praise him and acknowledge that you think he’s as great as he thinks he is. He won’t show it, but he gets flustered when you encourage and support him when he talks about starting a fashion magazine. He is not shy about any displays of affection, regardless of the public. Rock will pout like a kicked dog if denied a kiss (he doesn’t believe in simple pecks). He can be appeased with hand-holding so long as your shoulders are touching.

Hand in Hand - Romantic Walks Part One
All credit to @novelbear for these super cute prompts. I left everything up to a generator to decide which character got the prompts, and it's been so much fun to write.
They started looking long and I've got several more to go, so I broke them up. I think the list of prompts is about seventeen all together. So, some bachelors and bachelorettes got the luck of having two rather than one.
This part includes prompts for Celia/Cecilia, Cody/Gordy, Daryl, Flora, and Gustafa below the cut. I'll post all of them in one place on Ao3 when I finish all of them, so they'll be together there.
CELIA / CECILIA
It was soon after Cecilia and you began dating. You were keenly aware of Matthew’s dislike for the relationship and how important the man was to Ceci. While she didn’t seem bothered by his overprotective nature, it made you second-guess each action. Swallowing down your nerves, you boldly interlaced your fingers with her as you walked to the Goddess Pond. You relaxed as Cecilia beamed at you, though your peace was shattered moments later. The brunette dropped your hand a moment later to skip ahead on the path. You panicked, realizing your nerves had made your hand sweaty. Hastily, you wiped the moisture off against your pants.
“Make a wish!” Cecilia chirped, shoving a plant in your face.
“A dandelion?”
“Yes! They’re my favorite flower because they grant wishes.”
Her sweet nature and smiles always made you forget your worries. You couldn’t fight a smile as you took what most would consider a weed. After a hasty wish for the safe birth of a pregnant animal, you blew. Cecilia and you watched as the white stems floated from you.
“My turn! I wish for all of our crops to grow great!”
Your walk continued until you settled beneath the towering tree the sprites lived in. The fistful of dandelions Cecilia picked dwindled quickly as the two of you took turns making wishes. All too soon, only two remained. There was only a wish each remaining. You gently spun the stalk between your fingers, contemplating your next wish.
“Then, my next wish is for more dates with you,” you proclaimed. There was more, much more, you wanted to wish for than just her time and interest. But you didn’t want to appear too greedy too early, either.
“I wish Y/N would kiss me before taking me home,” you blinked in shock at her wish. Her face tinged a lovely shade of pink, and Cecilia offered an awkward smile. “Oops, I didn’t get all the seeds off.”
You pinched the stubborn seed between two fingers and plucked it away. You leaned forward to catch Cecilia’s lips as it fell from your hand. She tasted like tomatoes. It wasn’t unpleasant but not what you expected.
“Wish granted,” you grinned. Dandelions were quickly becoming your favorite flower.
BONUS CELIA / CECILIA
It was freezing. You had expected a mild winter after how tame the summer was. But the once refreshing breeze blowing from the sea now bit viciously through your coat. Maybe roasting sweet potatoes on the beach at the change of seasons wasn’t as romantic as you thought. You had convinced yourself to pack up when a pair of arms caught you around the middle. The warmth of their body pressed into yours made you want to remain unmoving forever, but you also wanted to see the owner’s face. You managed to twist around in her grasp enough to see Cecilia smiling at you.
“It’s cold,” she informed you, puffing an exhale of warm air to emphasize her words.
“I was about to come to see if you’d rather bundle up at the farm,” you couldn’t help but grin as a pout crossed her face. “We can roast the potatoes in the oven.”
“It’s not the same,” she sighed. “But, if I get sick out here, Vesta and Matthew will keep me confined all Winter.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll come steal you away,” you promised, kissing the tip of her nose before gathering everything.
Cecilia locked her hand with yours after a playful argument about who would carry the supplies home. You were in the middle of listing what you had ingredients to cook for dinner when Cecilia gasped. Startled, you went to steady the girl as she excitedly bounced in place.
“Look, look, Y/N! The first snow!” Cecilia pointed toward the sky. You tore your eyes from her to look where she indicated. Sure enough, fine specks of snow floated down around you. “I can’t believe our luck!”
“Why’s that?” you asked. Snow falling didn’t seem lucky to you. The animals needed to be moved in and fed, and you’d need to check the last of your Fall crops.
“Oh, you don’t know,” Cecilia blushed. “Don’t worry about it! Your livestock is in the pasture, right? We should hurry back and-”
“Hey, talk to me. Why is it lucky?”
“Well, they say seeing the first snow with someone you like leads to falling in love and a lasting relationship.”
Your heart thudded in your chest as you reached into your pocket and tried to remain calm. It wasn’t what you planned, but maybe this was better than your plans. Cecilia clearly cared a great deal about the validity of this superstition. You nervously grinned as you pulled your hand from your pocket and offered her the Blue Feather.
“So, does that mean I’ll be lucky enough for you to accept this?”
CODY / GORDY
You couldn’t believe your luck. Gordy found inspiration on your farm! While the thought made you ecstatic, it was nothing compared to the butterflies in your stomach as you walked alongside him. Nothing could you bring down.
“Hey, Y/N?” the artist’s deep, soft voice called for your attention.
“Yes!”
“Aren’t slugs bad for your crops?”
“Um, probably? I’ll have to check with Takakura for sure,” you answered, watching the insect leave an oozing trail as it slipped between your crops.
The thought of grabbing the thing to relocate it made your skin crawl. You watched in horror and awe as Gordy knelt and moved the slug from your field. After thanking him, you attempted to continue your walk with Gordy around the farm.
Why was it that every insect known to man was appearing today? Grasshoppers made you jump as you walked along the pasture. Bees made a home in the untamed field at the back, causing you to flinch as they buzzed past your ear. As another something flew past, causing you to sidestep yet again, you caught sight of a slight smile on Gordy’s face. The artist hadn’t said a word as he redirected each insect that ventured near you.
“Are you laughing at me?” you questioned, leaning closer to him for a better look.
“I just think it’s cute a farmer is so scared of bugs.”
“W-well, there weren’t as many of them in the city!”
His casual bluntness and the slight chuckle that escaped him colored your face bright red. Goddess help you. Gordy wasn’t even trying to sweep you off your feet, and here you were, doing the utmost not to drool over him. Artists had never been your type in the city. Were all of them as dangerous for the heart as Gordy?
DARYL
If someone told you a year ago you’d have someone to spend Starry Night with, you would have laughed in their face. Finding such a relationship in such a small time frame seemed absurd. Yet, here you were, following Daryl as he set traps for Mukumuku. It wasn’t the night you had in mind when you invited the scientist to spend Starry Night Eve with you. Though, his dedication was something you had grown to love about the man. The thought warmed your face despite the falling snow.
"Are you cold? We could turn back around," his question interrupted your thoughts.
Your eyes lifted from watching him set another trap. Despite his interest in catching the furry beast, he had noticed the redness of your face immediately. Daryl should be the one freezing. The man was dressed no different than any other day of the year. His exposed hands and face were both an irritated bright red. You were sure at least one sock was soaked through as well through the busted sole of his shoe. The maniacal enthusiasm in his black eyes had dimmed slightly with concern for you.
“I’m freezing. I’m sorry; we can finish here first, though.”
“Nonsense, you shouldn’t get sick from this. I have enough new data to review from earlier in the season. Besides, conditions are worsening. We might have a blizzard blowing in,” Daryl tutted at your offer.
Any feelings of guilt you had for your lie disappeared as his hand grasped yours. You fought a gasp as the coldness of his hand cut through your gloves. If you hadn’t lied, the year might have ended with Daryl seeing Dr. Hardy for frostbite. He probably still ran the risk. You should have insisted on dinner and exchanging gifts first. At least then Daryl would have had the winter coat you splurged on to keep him warm.
BONUS DARYL
Daryl came to your farm early in the afternoon. He claimed to need your assistance gathering herbs and insects from the mountain. When you skeptically asked why, the scientist rambled off a long speech about noticing your crops being decimated by an influx of pests. It caught his attention, and Daryl believed he could make an effective and environmentally safe pesticide to help. Since it was for your farm, it was only natural for you to help.
You quickly thought through your chores for the day. It wouldn’t hurt anything to stop here. And if Daryl could make something to help, then it was hard to resist. His impatient fidgeting ceased as you agreed, and he rapidly snatched your hand to drag you to the mountain pass. You wondered if the pink flush on his neck was from the summer heat or something else as you followed behind him.
Once you arrived at the mountain, the man’s sense of urgency disappeared. Daryl leisurely led you from one location to another. It was nice spending time with him wandering the wilderness. He knew a tremendous amount about almost anything you spotted and asked about on your hike. But as the sun began to dip below the horizon, you worried. It would be harder to spot the type of grass he wanted in the dark. Before you could voice your concerns, you were distracted. The empty field in front of you sparked in flashes of light as fireflies emerged. Tears sprung to your eyes at the sight.
Daryl had asked at the end of Spring how much Forget-Me-Not Valley had changed from your memory. You honestly answered that you weren’t sure. Most of your memories were fleeting ones. Your strongest memory of the valley and your dad was from your last summer. Your dad had taken you to catch fireflies while your mom packed for the move to the city. You still felt terrible for pinching the bulb of one to smear on your arm and glow in the dark.
“I believe I made a mistake in calculations. The specimens I need are not active during the Summer. I’ll have to return in the Fall. So, these jars won’t be used,” the scientist stated, avoiding eye contact. Daryl was a horrendous liar.
“Is that true? I find it hard to believe such a brilliant scientist would make an amateur mistake,” you teased.
You got the response you wanted as his attention whirled back to you. Annoyance at your teasing fought with his embarrassment of trying to make a romantic gesture. Your giggles made him throw his arms up and his foot rapidly tap as he waited for you to stop.
“You could just be honest about doing something nice for me.”
“Why? So you can tease me more?” the scientist pouted.
“But you look so cute when flustered,” you smirked. You watched momentarily as the tips of his ears turned red, and the scientist searched for a retort. “I’ll make you a deal! Whoever catches the most fireflies wins a wish. The loser has to do whatever is asked of them.”
A gleam returned to his eyes as Daryl hurried into the field with a jar.
FLORA
You wanted to walk on the beach with her like the dozens of romcoms you grew up watching on the television. The beach was one of the reasons you were so excited about Forget-Me-Not Valley before you even met Flora. The tiny strip of sand was not suited for much of a walk. At first, you felt disappointed and angry there wasn’t more. But as you stewed over the limited space, an idea formed.
“Flora! Do you have plans?” you asked, interrupting the blonde as she knelt. Flora looked up from the wild raccoon she fed fish to you.
“No? Why?” she questioned, blinking up at you.
“Let’s take a walk and have dinner then,” you smiled, offering your hand.
You patiently waited as Flora bid her friend farewell before helping her to her feet. Keeping her hand in your own, you set a leisurely pace toward the beach. The pace of your heart picked up the closer you got. Did she already know about your surprise? It took you a couple of days to alert others in the town to keep the beach semi-private. Everyone seemed on board with the idea, but would Carter have said something to tip her off? This was your first grand gesture toward Flora, and you worried. She was far more laid back and went with the flow than you, and you wanted everything to be perfect.
“Oh, is this for us?” she softly asked as you stepped on the beach.
“Yes! It’s all ours!” you beamed, waving a hand toward the blanket and baskets. “I’ve got snacks and drinks, a radio if you want music, and I’ll catch us fresh fish for dinner.”
At her continued silence, your smile faltered. Did she not like it? Maybe you were coming on too strong. You prepared to apologize when Flora’s hand moved to your shoulder. This was it, the big letdown. You squeezed your eyes shut while waiting for her to turn you down. Instead, it felt like she was leaning some of her weight against you. When you opened your eyes, Flora was taking off her second boot and sock.
“Did you need me to support you so the sand doesn’t get all over the blanket?”
“I’ve got it!” you chirped, kicking off your shoes. Flora eagerly followed you to sit and begin going through the baskets you brought.
GUSTAFA
You knew at the start of Fall that Gustafa was the person you wanted to spend your life with. Despite your intense feelings, getting the nerve to confess took a while. The musician seemed so comfortable with everyone around him that you couldn’t understand how he felt for you. Now, as the season gave way to winter, you wondered how you had ever missed the signs.
His smiles for you came faster and were filled with a warmth that others didn’t receive. Others had to find him, or he spoke with them in passing. Gustafa went out of his way to ensure you spent time together. The daily walks you shared, from the Goddess Pond to his yurt or farm, were your favorite part of the day. He asked questions about your farm and shared any new music he worked on. Sometimes, you walked in silence, fingers intertwined.
“It’s getting cold out. Is there anything you can grow in Winter?” Gustafa’s question broke you from thought.
“Um, I think Vesta said potatoes, carrots, turnips, and strawberries,” you answered, noticing it had begun to snow. The weather forecast had hinted that early snow was possible for the day. You nervously watched as it fell. You were pushing it with the last of the autumn crops.
“You’ll have to start wearing gloves soon.”
Gustafa shoved your joined hands into his coat pocket with the comment. You glanced down at your other hand as the one he held tingled from the new heat. You hadn’t noticed the tips of your fingers had turned red. When did that happen? You must have been so focused on finishing farm work and then running to meet Gustafa that you failed to notice the dropping temperatures. Your face felt warm as you realized Gustafa noticed it immediately.
“Did you need to protect your crops from the weather?”
“Yeah, I should probably cover them.”
“I’ll get it figured out with Takakura,” the musician offered, spotting the older man already at work. Before you could protest, Gustafa placed a quick kiss on your hand. “You should go get warm before you catch a cold.”
BONUS GUSTAFA
You set out from the farm early, but it was already hot. After spending so much time indoors in the city, Summer in Forget-Me-Not Valley did not feel mild. You paused outside the farm, looking over the mostly still town. Hugh ran in the distance, his little legs trying to match his father’s pace. While you appreciated their dedication, the sight made you decide on your next action. The mine should be nice and cool to work in for the day. Not to mention, the extra artifacts would be a nice boost to your earnings when Van visits tomorrow.
Hours later, you followed Flora from the work site. As Carter examined your finds, you stretched out the catch in your back. You decided the shortcut would be better than the bridge further downstream as you shoved statues and coins into your rucksack. You hadn’t even set foot into the water when you caught sight of Gustafa on the other bank.
“Gustafa! Hey, wait a minute, please!” you called.
You excitedly rushed across the river path as the musician stopped to wait. You enjoyed your interactions with him, and not a tiny part of your enthusiasm for seeing him was from your developing crush. A step away from the bank and his side, your footing slipped from the submerged path, sending you tumbling into the waterfall’s pool. Your head quickly bobbed above the water’s surface as you scrambled for the bank.
“Hey, you okay?” Gustafa asked as he helped pull you ashore.
“Just a bit shaken, is all,” you replied, keeping your face turned to the ground. At this point, the rapid beat of your heart was more from embarrassment than the surprise of falling in.
“You sure?”
“Yeah! I’m fine! I have your request here, so I was trying to catch you.”
It was soaked, you realized as you grabbed your bag. You dug through the rucksack for the bottle of milk Gustafa had requested on the community bulletin board. Nothing in your bag was dry. You felt your excitement deflate faster than a popped balloon. The milk was fine to carry without leaking, but you weren’t sure the seal was tight enough to prevent water from entering.
“Um, let me get you another bottle from the farm. I’m not sure this one is still okay,” you mumbled, trying to stand. The moment weight was on your ankle, pain shot through your leg. Gustafa quickly steadied you as you stumbled forward. You could see a glimpse of blue eyes behind his glasses as the man frowned in concern.
“Sorry, I guess I twisted my ankle a bit.”
“Let me help you back to your farm,” the man offered. After thinking it over, you accepted his help. You expected Gustafa to help hold an arm as you hopped back. Instead, you felt confused as he turned his back to you and crouched down. It looked like Gustafa was offering you a piggyback ride.
“W-what are you doing? You’ll get wet,” you garbled.
“It’s fine; I’m not worried about it. You don’t need to put weight on your ankle.”
You tentatively climbed onto his back, trying to find a way to hold on without wrapping your arms around him. As his arms wrapped around your legs and he stood, you closed your eyes. This close to him, you now knew Gustafa smelled faintly of leather and flowers. It felt way too hot, even after getting soaked. You told yourself it was the summer heat as you tried to enjoy the ride home.

Their secret talents. Part One
CELIA/CECILIA - A WAY WITH ANIMALS
You wanted to cry with frustration. Takakura and you were trying to catch the newest lamb. The terrified baby had an injured leg you were trying to treat. The mother didn’t help as she rammed your leg again when you were almost close enough to grab the lamb.
“Can I help?” Cecilia’s voice called your attention to the fence line. She must have been passing on her way to the Goddess Spring and seen your struggles.
“It’s okay. I’d hate for you to get hurt.”
“Nonsense, we need to get the poor baby taken care of,” the young woman answered, climbing over the fence without care. You scrambled to assist her. Cecilia took only a moment to brush her skirt back into order before walking further into the field. You apprehensively lingered behind her as she knelt and spoke to the mama sheep. All too easily, the ewe walked forward to nuzzle into Ceci’s chest. The lamb weakly limped along after its mother to Cecilia’s side.
“Here we go,” Cecilia proudly said, gathering the lamb to hold close. “Were you trying to go to the barn?”
“Yeah,” you weakly replied, following after the brunette. With Cecilia’s help, Takakura and you managed to get the mom and baby into an isolation pen and provide treatment. Cecilia asked if she could visit them tomorrow before waving and resuming her day. You were puzzled. Why did the sheep trust her so quickly over Takakura and you, who cared for them daily? As you dump fresh water and feed into the pen, you ask Takakura.
“Some people just have a way with animals,” the man shrugged in response.
CODY/GORDY - SPEAKING BACKWARD
(Text that's not backward is at the bottom for easier reading.)
“Desoporp t’nevah llits uoy?” the odd sounds from his sister turned your head.
Gordy glanced at your confused expression before responding to his sister, “thgir neeb t’nsah gnimit eht. Tcefrep sgniht tnaw I.”
“Yrruh ot deen uoy! Ecein a tnaw I.”
After their brief exchange, the two switched to speaking a language you could understand. You asked as soon as Gordy’s sister left what language they were speaking. When he explained it was the same language you spoke now, just backward, you couldn’t believe it. The man was patient as he repeated phrases you said backward without pause. Stunned by the unexpected skill, you asked how they learned to do it. Gordy laughed and explained it was their secret code to talk to each other without their parents knowing what it was about.
“So, what were you talking about earlier?”
“Just about how cute you are,” Gordy’s smile made you feel he wasn’t giving you the whole truth.
You still haven’t proposed?
The timing hasn’t been right. I want things perfect.
You need to hurry! I want a niece.
DARYL - ALWAYS KNOWS THE TIME & WHICH WAY IS NORTH
You had taken to hanging out at Daryl’s lab during your free afternoons. The scientist was surprisingly tolerant of your numerous questions. Though, you felt his patience didn’t extend to everyone in town. You were closely watching Daryl’s latest work when he spoke.
“Didn’t you say you were meeting Takakura at 2:00 p.m. for a new animal’s arrival?”
“Yeah, why?”
“It’s 1:57 p.m.”
“That can’t be right,” you muttered, looking around for a clock. You grabbed a watch from your rucksack when you didn’t see one in the lab. You rarely had anything time-sensitive since moving to the valley. When the watch confirmed it was indeed the time you were meant to meet Takakura, you scrambled from the lab, throwing Daryl a quick farewell over your shoulder.
A day later, Daryl visited your farm as you puzzled over one of your fields. The field was tilled and ready to plant, but you paused. You explained the issue to Daryl when he asked what you were doing. Vesta and Matthew recommended planting in north-to-south rows for winter when you bought seeds. Now that you were ready to plant, you didn’t know which way was what. The cloudy day didn’t help in figuring out north, and you didn’t have a compass. Without a pause, Daryl indicated which way to plant.
“How do you do that?”
“Do what?” the scientist frowned at your question.
“Know direction and the time off hand like that!”
Though he acted like it wasn’t a big deal, Daryl was pleased to have impressed you without trying.
FLORA - PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY
With all the stress of a new farm, you were immensely grateful for Flora. Working in the mines with Flora helped to distract you from sitting around the farm, hoping your crops would grow. Her calmness and methodical ways greatly offset your panic and worries. During lunch, you would share the journals Takakura left to help you as you both learned about how to run a farm.
You were excited for Flora to visit the farm. It was her day off, and you got your first sheep yesterday. You could barely contain your excitement in showing off the adorable, fluffy new animal. Flora found you in the field, biting your lip in apprehension. The poor new sheep had an odd spot missing from its wooly hide.
“Do you need help?” the blonde interrupted your thoughts.
“I just think I used these wrong. Baa-b seemed upset the moment I started,” you explained. “I should recheck Takakura’s notes.”
“How did you use them?” Flora watched you demonstrate what you did far from the shaken sheep. “Oh, here’s what you’re doing wrong.”
Your mouth dropped open in shock as Flora demonstrated the correct method, both with and without your sheep. She didn’t notice anything amiss until she turned from Baa-b to offer you the shears to try again.
“How did you do that? I thought you didn’t know anything about animal care?” you questioned.
“It was in Takakura’s notes we read,” Flora replied, confused by your questions.
“That was weeks ago! How did you remember that?”
“I have a photographic memory; I just need to see something once. It simplified classes and helped me get the job with Professor Carter.”
Flora blushed as you raved about how phenomenal a gift her talent was.
MUFFY/MOLLY - ACTING
Molly and you had decided on a night in. You prepared everything for her arrival in meticulous detail. There were plenty of pillows, snacks, and movies of all sorts lined up to watch. The blonde giggled at your enthusiasm and assured you she felt the same when she arrived. At Molly’s insistence, you picked the first film. You settled for one of your childhood favorites to share with her.
The movie was about a spunky orphan you had always admired as a kid. You settled into the pillows with Molly as the film began. Molly grew stiff beside you as the title scrawled across the screen and the movie opened. She looked uncomfortable with your movie choice. You offered to switch to a different film.
“Oh no, darling, it’s fine. I’ve never seen it, and I would like to watch it with you,” with her smile and reassurance, you let the matter go, though you were worried. Did she hate this movie and lie so as not to upset you?
You soon found yourself distracted from the movie. The spunky orphan looked so much like the woman sitting next to you. It was probably the blonde curls and green eyes, you reasoned. The combination wasn’t too uncommon, but the resemblance felt uncanny. No one knew what happened to the childhood prodigy actress in the film. As a teenager, she disappeared from the limelight and probably lived comfortably in a large house somewhere. You blinked at the screen as the credits rolled, and you recognized a name.
“That was you?” you spluttered, turning to Molly.
“Well, yes,” Molly hesitated before explaining further. “Life behind the scenes was very different! The world of acting was negatively impacting my life. So, I-”
“Hey, you don’t need to explain! I’m happy you quit. Otherwise, we’d never be here like this,” you smiled, kissing her.

Request: Their reaction to you finding a sword in the mines.
CELIA / CECILIA
She looked worried when you first presented the sword, showing off the keenness of the blade. Cecilia looked a little more reassured when you promised you wouldn’t be carrying it around constantly. If you did, it would remain within the scabbard. Cecilia questioned what you planned to do with it. You shrugged, mentioning you might just hack at firewood with the sword. She frowned in response. That didn’t seem to be a good use. Wouldn’t you destroy the sword’s edge that way? After a pause, Cecilia says you could challenge the Phantom Thief to a duel if they made you a target. You both laugh a little. The Phantom Thief wasn’t real; they were just a myth. You’re surprised to see a note stuck to your sword the next morning, telling you to prepare better. The Phantom Thief expected more of a challenge. Cecilia swears she had nothing to do with the message. Though, you can’t trust the gleeful sparkle in her eyes.
CODY / GORDY
Gordy intently listens as you tell him about finding the sword. You leave out no details as you swing the blade outside his home. He holds the scabbard, observing its design while you talk. You groaned afterward. There wasn’t much use for such a thing on the farm. Regardless of how much you liked it. You thought the matter was done and left the sword abandoned, propped in the corner of your home. You were surprised to see Gordy days later. He was at your doorstep when you exited to start your morning chores. Gordy apologizes if his timing is inconvenient, but he felt inspired listening to you talk the other day. Gordy held forth a wall mount he created for the sword. You gasped at the two intertwined dragons and their meticulous detail. You quickly ushered Gordy into the house when he mentioned wanting to double-check some measurements. You fell asleep that night admiring the gleaming blade suspended between the two dragons.
DARYL
Daryl barely glances up from his work when you burst into his lab with the sword. He only glances up when you start talking about the design on the blade. The metal gleamed with wavy lines looking like someone drew waves on it. You jump when Daryl excitedly exclaims that it's Damascus steel. He tells you while the swords still exist, the exact materials or process to recreate them is largely unknown. You hesitate when Daryl asks to examine the blade. You were already attached to it and didn’t want something so rare damaged. Daryl huffs offended that you think he would harm something precious through carelessness. He promises the utmost care and even invites you to be present for each step. You enjoy being Daryl’s assistant as he consults with various blacksmiths in the area and attempts to unravel the mystery.
FLORA
You found something lodged firmly in the ground. Giving it a solid yank to remove from the last hold of the thick clay, you yelped as you fell back. Flora and Carter rushed over to check you were alright. Carter briefly glanced over the sword you grasped before declaring it held no significant value. You excitedly turned to Flora to share your excitement over getting to keep a sword. The young woman was positively green with envy. You hesitated; finding a sword was awesome, but you didn’t want to fight with Flora because of it. A brilliant thought came to you! What if the two of you shared it? Flora nodded when you asked her to visit your farm later. She gave you a puzzled look when she arrived that afternoon to see a pile of bruised produce beside you. You took turns with Flora tossing the fruits and vegetables for the other to attempt to slice mid-air. Flora had a much higher score than you.
GUSTAFA
Gustafa asks where you got the sword from when you show him. You explain about finding it wedged into some rocks in a chamber of the dig site. He remains silent as you unsheath the sword to show him. You’re both amazed by the sharpness of the blade. After all, Carter and Flora had just gained access to that area. You expected it to be worn and rusted by this point compared with the other artifacts’ aged looks. Gustafa thinks you found an enchanted sword. Everything lines up with the stories you realize as Gustafa explains his thoughts. You and Gustafa rule out the divine right to rule as an option. You try swinging the sword at various items without any visible effect. Gustafa mentioned creating a song and myth for the indestructible blade with your help. Maybe every good magical sword needed a story for its power.
LUMINA
You froze in your tracks when you entered the Villa, and both Romana and Lumina gasped. Your hand tightened around the bright red and gold scabbard as you asked what was wrong. Lumina hesitantly said she wasn’t sure she should tell you. At her grandmother’s urging, Lumina admitted they recognized the sword you held. It was a cursed blade known for bringing the wielder misfortune. It would rot your fields and sicken your animals. You felt your blood run cold. Claire had told you about the cursed tools she had found and their effects. You could not handle such side effects as a new farmer. Dazed, you nodded at Romana’s instructions before running to the Goddess Spring. Lumina caught you just as you were about to throw the sword into the water. She breathlessly explained it was just a joke. She and Romana thought it would be fun to tease you, but you ran off so fast.
MARLIN / MATTHEW
You ran down the path from the dig site with the sword clutched firmly in your hand. You couldn’t wait to show Marlin what you found. He looked worried as you slipped on the loose gravel, swinging the sheathed sword to regain your balance. Marlin’s worry changed to fury as you proudly bared the blade for him to see. You winced as his voice rose, lecturing you about running around with such things. Did you do this with your sickle? You sheepishly confirmed that you don’t usually run around with sharp things. You were just really excited to show him the sword. You still couldn’t believe Carter didn’t want it. Marlin’s frown deepened as he mumbled about speaking with Carter. His expression lightened as you assured Marlin the sword was just for display at the house. He was worried about you hurting yourself playing around with such things, but as wall decor, it was pretty cool.
MUFFY / MOLLY
Molly didn’t think much of it when she caught sight of your house through the window. She couldn’t greet you as you rushed in excitedly, showing her what you found in the mines. Molly frowned at the sword. It wasn’t her cup of tea, but she was happy for you. Molly had an idea as she listened to you ramble about finding the sword. She waited for Griffin to exit the backroom into the bar before acting. Molly asked if you were her knight upon a white steed to save her from Griffin’s clutches. It had been a while since she had a day off. You paused, frozen in confusion for a minute. You glanced through the window at your white horse, connecting the dots. Griffin’s eyebrow raised as you turned to him, brandishing the sword and demanding Molly’s freedom. He played along in raising his hands to admit defeat as you pulled Molly from the store.
NAMI
You found Nami at the beach and quickly approached, drawing the blade to show off. Her eyes widened in shock for a moment as you brandished the sword. Nami frowned, causing you to falter in your tales of Vikings and storming beaches. Your mouth gaped open as Nami explained why the sword couldn’t belong to a Viking. It was too long and lacked a pronounced groove along the blade. Nami’s best guess is that the sword you found matched medieval swords more than anything else. She brushed off your praise for knowing so much with a slight blush. Nami said you wouldn’t be able to kill anything with your stance. You eagerly jumped at the chance to learn when Nami offered to show you some fencing techniques.
ROCK
Rock whistled as you posed with the sword you found. Neither of you expected there would be something like this in the mines. The blade was in excellent shape, despite its time in the mines. You sighed, mentioning you had no idea what to do with it. It felt like a waste to use it for decoration in your home. Rock had a sly smile when he said he had some ideas. Rock led you to the Inn and checked his mom wasn’t around before ushering you into the kitchen. He pointed to loaves of bread and vegetables, saying you could cut those. You paused only a moment before trying the blade on a carrot. It sliced through effortlessly, leading Rock and you to eagerly cut everything else. Lou returned as Rock lowered the sword into a pot of curry to stir the contents. You were breathless with laughter as you ran alongside Rock to the beach to escape Lou’s fury.

Note
Hello! I‘m a big fan of your works but unfortunately I am extremely shy and can‘t muster up the courage to really comment or anything. I just wanna say I appreciate your stuff a lot, a wonderful life is one of my biggest comfort games and unfortunately I don‘t see as much content for it as I‘d wish there was, so seeing you write about it always brings a smile to my face :^)
Also while I can‘t say I wanna kiss him badly I‘m glad to see more Daryl appreciation, I love my best friend Daryl he deserves more appreciation LOL (we love weird freak men here)!
Sorry to drop off a request like this but if you‘re still taking rqs: Bachelorettes & Bachelors helping the farmer with painful period cramps? I know this kinda takes out the ambiguity of the farmer‘s assigned gender at birth sorry haha ^^“ (I myself suffer from painful cramps unfortunately hence I‘m a fan of this type of x Reader stuff haha)
Have a good day and keep on going, but remember to take breaks too from time to time (•w•)/
Sorry, it took me a while to get to this!! It made me really happy to see when I was feeling so sick though!! <3
Fortunately, I've never experienced period cramps to the point I couldn't function. I've been blessed that mine have always been relatively manageable without many issues. My husband is very supportive of anything I need (even if I just want something and not actually a need). Having said that, these might be pretty vague and light on details just because I don't have a ton of specific experience beyond friends who had conditions that made theirs terrible.
Also, I don't mind writing for a specific gender. It just seems fair, for the most part, to keep it as vague as possible so everyone can enjoy it. So, I keep it as gender-neutral as possible by default. Please, please send me any requests you have! I do my best to write the ones I receive and enjoy them greatly. :3
Anyway, enough rambling from me. Each bachelor/bachelorette is below the cut!
How They Help You with Painful Period Cramps
CELIA / CECILIA
She only vaguely understands the pain you feel. Cecilia was blessed with light periods devoid of cramps. But, what she lacks in experience, Ceci makes up for in sympathy. During your periods, Cecilia divides her time between working at Vesta’s farm and helping at yours. If you try to protest her working so much the young woman chides you about learning to accept help when needed. Ceci also quickly gets Vesta on board, and you join them for meals each time to limit your cooking. Both women offer you suggestions to help alleviate your pain.
CODY / GORDY
When Gordy encounters you curled in a ball, his first instinct is to fetch Dr. Hardy. You quickly explain that it’s unnecessary; this is a regular occurrence. The silent artist stares at you momentarily, absorbing your explanations before quietly excusing himself. While the thought of his abandoning you during such a time stings, you try to comfort yourself. You’re surprised when Gordy returns within a few hours and apologizes for taking your horse. He was in a rush and didn’t think to ask first. Gordy asks about pain medicine and a heating pad as he unloads various snacks and drinks from the Mineral Town General Store. He insists you tell him immediately if you need anything else.
DARYL
At first, you feel annoyed with the scientist as he rambles off the biology behind your pain. You soon realize the lecture is helping to keep Daryl calm as he assesses the situation and how to assist you best. Beyond some measly chocolate he had on hand, he is not much help the first time. Daryl makes up for this the second time and is prepared with various remedies that might help you feel better. Before long, he has your cycle memorized better than you and is always ready with the things that help you best. He doesn’t offer much help with your cattle but rambles ideas about a watering system to reduce your work for crops.
FLORA
Despite your pain, you find yourself more concerned about Flora. You were explaining how terrible your pain was through gritted teeth when Flora agreed. You couldn’t help but blink in shock at the archeologist. She said she felt the same during her period but just focused on work and tried her best to ignore it. Flora seemed surprised when you offered suggestions and shared your resources to help her. She doesn’t want to take from you. This soon becomes the most extensive argument of your relationship before you both eventually agree on a system to support each other. Flora dotes on you and consistently makes sure you have everything you need while you gently remind her it's okay to take breaks and take care of herself as well.
GUSTAFA
It hit unexpectedly when you were spending time with Gustafa at his yurt. Even through the pain, you felt embarrassed and stuttered out an apology, planning an exit to your farm. The musician caught on quickly to your pain and offered supplies. You were shocked to find the man so well prepared, and he explained that having female friends and keeping extra became a habit to try and help. Gustafa steps outside to give you privacy. He soon offers to have you stay, and he can fetch you anything you might need from home. Regardless of your decision, Gustafa is supportive. He admits to being a bit hopeless in the kitchen but does his best to wait on you hand and foot. He insists on handling any errands you need to be done and hovers if you want to do farmwork in case he’s needed.
LUMINA
You quickly learn that the life of the rich is different from what you expected. At the first mention of your intense period pains, Lumina has already arranged a meeting with Dr. Hardy to guarantee there are no medical causes of your pain. Lumina also insists on you staying at the manor under her care, and with Aunt Romana as backup, it doesn’t give you much choice. They both casually tell you Sebastian will tend to the farm with Takakura until you recover. It isn’t until you explain the guilt of putting more work on the butler makes you feel worse that she relents. Instead, Lumina focuses on learning your favorite dishes and bringing them to you throughout each period. She also masters the art of getting you to accept expensive remedies.
MARLIN / MATTHEW
Despite living with two women, you can tell Matthew is uncomfortable talking about your period. It doesn’t stop him from assisting however he can. Like Cecilia, he does more work to help you at the farm during your periods. While he seems most comfortable helping with the physical labor, Matthew does his best to cook meals for you. He’ll also mumble out suggestions to try and help with the pain. When you discover Matthew has been asking other female residents on your behalf, his face turns red like a tomato. He avoids looking at you as he grumbles about it not being a big deal if anything helped you.
MUFFY / MOLLY
Molly experiences cramps, though she admits they’re not quite as painful as yours. She shares remedies and methods to help from the vast social network of her city friends. You weren’t thrilled with her idea of spa days when Molly first arrived at your farmhouse. The blonde gently bullied you into giving them a try with an adorable pout. They quickly grew on you as you sank into the hot springs and relaxed with Molly. The worst days of your period soon become filled with the hot springs, good food and drinks from the cafe, and plenty of conversation with Molly. While your pain may not be gone, her support and company help make it more bearable.
NAMI
You both slowly realize there are times you never see each other. It turns out Nami suffers similarly to you and essentially just holes up at the inn as she becomes irritable. You tentatively offer suggestions for the things that help with your pain. A sigh of relief escapes you as Nami returns the gesture with her solutions. You’re surprised when you drag out from your bed during one to find Nami at your door. She offers to share the homecooked food the doting Lou made. Nami and you soon have a system alternating between the farm and the inn. You both find comfort in knowing someone else understands your pain and struggles and can provide support.
ROCK
Rock has the best intentions, but you can tell he never paid attention to sex education in school. The blonde surfer understands almost nothing about periods. You're annoyed at his appalled look when you have to explain the menstrual cycle and the source of your pain. The feeling doesn’t linger long when he calls asking if you prefer lemon or lime at the store for your products. You can’t help but laugh as you hear a female worker lecturing him in the background. Rock has to be gently reminded not to eat all your snacks, but he always comes around with new movies from your favorite genre to watch while you cuddle together.

Well, that was a New Year’s Eve kiss you won’t forget anytime soon. Part Four
CELIA/CECILIA
You breathed a sigh of relief to see Cecilia was also at the bar. Though your joy faltered some to see Matthew hovering at her side. The two were not dating, but you supposed his protectiveness didn’t stop due to his relationship with Gordy. You offered an awkward smile as Ceci saw you and beamed.
“Y/N is here! I’ll hang out with them, and you can spend some time with Gordy,” the brunette young woman linked her arm with yours and waved Matthew away. Matthew agreed to give her some space with the artist’s gentle urging and Cecilia’s assistance. Before he left, the man told you nothing better happened to her.
You weren’t sure what exactly Matthew thought might happen. It wasn’t as though spiked drinks would be a concern in Forget-Me-Not Valley. The city's caution and habits were hard to shake, you acknowledged as you closely watched your drink. Cecilia did seem to be overly trusting as well.
The young farm girl could not hold her drinks well. Cecilia had one drink and was already flushed. You realized this was the cause of Matthew’s concern. The brunette soon sighed, tugging at her collar. She wanted to leave. The bar was too warm.
You tried to catch Matthew’s attention to let him know, but Cecilia’s surprisingly firm grip tugged you from the building. The green-clad girl skipped ahead of you on the path, enjoying the layer of snow that still coated the ground. It would melt almost overnight as the warmth of Spring crept into the valley. You almost crashed into Cecilia as she stopped on the bridge to twirl around and face you.
“What’s your New Year’s resolution?” she asked, leaning toward you with her hands clasped behind her back.
“I haven’t thought about it.”
“Do you want to know mine?” she giggled.
“Of course.”
“I want to be brave enough to confess to the person I love.”
“That sounds really nice,” you wish you had time for the same thing. “I’d like to stay at the farm.”
Cecilia’s smile dipped into a frown as she asked what you meant. At her concern, you explained all of your fears and worries about losing the farm. The silence between you sat heavy as you finished.
“You sound like you're in the same kind of position as I was,” Cecilia eventually commented.
“I guess so. I just don’t have a specific person set to marry,” you bitterly laughed.
“I can help. You helped me, after all.”
Her offer tugged at your heart. You wished Cecilia could help. You didn’t see how she could, though. Unlike Vesta, who backed off hearing Cecilia’s input, Takakura specifically requested you find someone within the year. You couldn’t ask Cecilia to ruin her resolution at the start of the year to help you stay at the farm.
A firm tug on your coat brought your attention to Cecilia. Her lips crashed into yours before you could ask what she was doing. You couldn’t help but stare at her in shock as you breathlessly parted.
“This isn’t how I planned on confessing, but let’s talk with Takakura tomorrow. I’m sure he’ll understand,” Cecilia blushed.
CODY/GORDY
You barely squeezed into the Bluebird Bar. The usually spacious establishment was never meant to hold most of the town at once. You raised yourself to the tips of your toes to scan the room. Sighing in disappointment at not seeing who you wanted, you pushed your way to the bartop for a drink.
As you finished your drink and contemplated your next actions, the crowd swept you into the cold. You quickly learned that the twins had been convinced to send up some fireworks at midnight. Going out with a literal bang sounded good as you followed the others to the beach. Movement at the Turtle Pond sent you on a detour to discover Gordy.
“The twins are going to do fireworks if you want to join.”
You astonished yourself with how easily the invitation fell from your lips. You had struggled over inviting Gordy to watch the fireworks in the summer. You beamed at the tall man as he agreed and joined you in heading to the beach. The two of you stood in silence among the other townspeople.
Most everyone waiting for the twins to finish setting up were young couples you couldn’t help but notice. If you had acted like you had nothing to lose earlier in the year, could Gordy and you have been one of their number? You could have been standing curled into Gordy’s side for warmth and eagerly counting down to midnight for a kiss. Your face flushed at the thought.
“Is everything okay, Y/N?” Gordy asked.
You hurriedly nodded at him, hoping to avoid explaining the thoughts that colored your face. The welcome whistle of a firework traveling high into the sky turned his attention. You watched it, followed by two others bursting among the stars, before deciding to push ahead. The thought made your throat dry. But if you spoke before the fireworks stopped, you could always say Gordy’s rejection was because he couldn’t hear you.
“I’ve always really liked you. More so than as another friend,” you whispered, keeping your eyes fixed firmly on the sky.
Your view of the fireworks disappeared. It took a moment for your eyes to focus on Gordy’s face. Did he hear you? Why was his face so close? The questions flashed through your mind before his lips pressed sweetly to your own. Before he withdrew, you heard him whisper his feelings. You struggled to finish watching the show instead of fixating on the tall man beside you. Your fingers tightly laced with his own.

Sunny Skies Ahead (Cody/Gordy's First Kiss)
The typhoon outside was vicious. You were glad the animals were safe in the barn and coop. You stood to stretch, switching the TV’s weather channel off. The forecaster said it would be over in the next few hours. Your brows furrowed in confusion. You could still hear the reporter’s voice even though the television was off. Before you could move to investigate, a booming clap of thunder surprised you. The lights went out immediately as the storm thrashed against your home.
You swallowed, fighting the chill that ran down your spine. The voice of the weatherman still sounded from the unfinished kitchen. Shakily, you crept toward the kitchen door. It felt safer when the house only consisted of one room. A larger space seemed a no-brainer after your engagement to Gordy. A bachelor pad didn’t need too much, but if you and Gordy wanted children, more room was a requirement.
You wished Gordy was here now. The large frame of your fiance would be more reassuring than facing a disembodied voice alone. You opened the kitchen door, peering into the unfinished addition. Sheets of plastic somehow hung against the gaping skeleton, fighting to keep rain from flooding the area. You cautiously stepped past the doorframe, holding firmly to the door to venture further. A radio stood on the worker’s bench, providing steady weather updates.
The radio explained the reporter’s voice, but how did the radio get here? You could imagine the construction crew forgetting the radio. But surely, you would have heard something from it before now? You screeched, seeing a dark shadow suddenly appear on the other side of the hanging plastic. You frantically tried shoving the door shut, retreating into the safety of your home. Tears filled your eyes in desperation as a foot appeared, catching the door before it could snap closed, a foot in a familiar red and white shoe.
“You scared me! Why didn’t you say something?” you fussed at Gordy as he slipped into the house. You gathered towels from a drawer to pass to your fiance as you asked, “Why were you out in the middle of a typhoon?”
Gordy calmly explained he was worried about you. He knew Takakura was nearby if anything was too bad, but Gordy felt restless wandering his home alone. Then, the thought of your home flooding from the unfinished addition worried Gordy too much to sit around. The radio was his that he brought to monitor the news. Admittedly, when he left, the weather was a bit calmer. The sudden swell and open door had scared him as well.
“Just stay here; we’re already engaged. No one cares if you stay. I want you to be here with me,” you pleaded.
Gordy was trying to leave after affirming your safety, and the new kitchen door didn’t allow rainwater to leak into the house. It had been hard to get close to the quiet artist, and while you usually enjoyed him being a gentleman, he was annoying you. Sure, you were only recently engaged, but the man had yet to kiss you. He was affectionate in hugs and pecks on your cheek or forehead but always hesitated about locking lips.
You expected him to refuse again, but as another crash of thunder shook the windows, he relented. Happy, you eagerly pulled extra blankets to arrange a pallet on the floor. You read from a collection of poetry you had on your shelf by candlelight. When the lights flickered back to life, you made simple noodles for you both. Gordy insisted on returning to his home now that the typhoon had passed, and the weatherman promised clear skies in the morning.
“Would it be okay if I kissed you?” Gordy questioned, hesitating at the door. You chirped in agreement, expecting him to kiss your cheek. Your eyes fluttered in surprise when his hand tenderly cupped your face and his lips pressed into yours. You pressed your lips into him, enjoying the feeling. Gordy pulled back from you after a few minutes, leaving you staring breathlessly at him. He cleared his throat and mumbled about needing to head home before he ended up staying the night.
“Would that be so bad?”

Tina the Teddy Bear
You loved Gordy. You would claim it was love at first sight. That moment on the beach, capturing a flash in the waves, igniting a spark in you for the quiet man. Further interactions only fed fire to the flames. You thought marrying Gordy would be the happiest day of your life. Then your daughter Gwendolyn was born. Gordy’s sister Laura started to come around more with her kids after Gwen’s birth. You were thankful for the extra hands, and the close family your childhood lacked.
“We cannot accept this,” you cast a worried glance to Gordy for support.
“Oh, come now! It’s from the whole family, and there’s a lot of us!” Laura chirped, holding out the giant bear. You had seen the exact one in Van’s wares since Gwendolyn was a toddler. Gordy and you had agreed the price tag was exorbitant. Your child could live without a stuffed bear that was larger than her. Gordy’s large hand rested on your shoulder, his head shaking ever so lightly. He was right, you reasoned, your nerves calming at his touch. Gordy’s family was large. The cost was surely not as great as it seemed. Sensing your weakness, your nephew and niece quickly gathered Gwendolyn and the bear and fled for your daughter’s room.
“Thank you, you really shouldn’t have,” you welcomed Laura in as she waved you off. It wasn’t long before the kids returned to the main room, begging you to attend a tea party. Of course, you would need to make them tea first. Gordy told you to join them. Laura and he were going to his studio to go over his recent work. They could take hours discussing art; you would rather attend the tea party. Gordy hugged you warmly, nodding as you told him not to stay too long.
You shooed the kids back into Gwendolyn’s room with instructions to clear the table while you prepared tea. As the kettle warmed, you fetched the strawberry shortcake you had made. It was for a villager's request, but you could prepare another. You couldn’t have a tea party without cake, after all. You soon entered Gwendolyn’s room, balancing a tray crowded with teacups, kettle, honey, and cake.
“Here we go! Tea for Gwen, Emma, Andrew, and Teddy,” you hummed, placing cups in front of each.
“Her name is Tina,” your niece chirped.
“Momma, Tina needs tea too!” Gwen exclaimed as you skipped over serving the oversized bear. You apologized and poured tea for the bear. Playing along with the kids that Tina could drink and wasting a little tea wouldn't hurt. You sat talking with them until you glanced out the window and saw the sun dipping low. Gwendolyn quickly insisted on showing Emma and Andrew the animals while you tended them.
Gordy and his sister returned while you were outside and gathered to leave. You cleaned up from tea time while he walked his sister and her kids to the mountain path. You couldn’t help but notice the cup for the teddy bear was empty. The only concern to cross your mind was one of the kids drinking too much tea. You hoped it wouldn’t be a problem for Laura on the way home. You placed the last washed and dried cup away as you felt a tiny tug on your hem.
“Momma, Tina says she lost her ring. Can you check the teacups?”
You knew kids could have active imaginations, and Gwendolyn’s was certainly active from the drawings in her sketchbook. It seemed odd for her to fixate on a lost ring, though. Forget-Me-Not Valley followed the Blue Feather tradition. Yours and Gordy’s Blue Feather were proudly displayed near your shared bed. You shrugged, pulling the cups down from their place in the cabinet. It must be something she got from her cousin Emma. You expected to pretend to find a ring to hand Gwendolyn for Tina but found an actual silver ring in the cup. The silver ring had small amethysts, sparkling almost as bright as Gwendolyn’s eyes. You plucked the piece of jewelry out to look over it closer. An inscription in the band read Tina.
“That’s it, Momma!” Gwendolyn grabbed the ring and ran back to her room before you could say anything. You frowned, following her through the house. There was no telling where that ring had come from. You would need to call Laura and ask if she knew of one missing. Such a thing was too valuable to be a child’s plaything. You knocked softly before opening Gwendolyn’s door and almost screamed. You could have sworn you saw the bear scuttle across the room when you entered.
“What’s wrong, Momma?” Gordy asked. You did scream then, surprised by his silent entry. Once he got you calmed down, he took Gwendolyn for a bath, leaving you alone with Tina the Teddy. You tried to ignore the bear and searched every inch of Gwen’s room for the ring. The search halted in front of the bear. You could swear it was breathing and blinking. Unnerved, you hurried from the room.
“I must be going crazy,” you whispered to Gordy in bed later that evening. Your husband was quiet, worrying you that he fell asleep or was trying to figure out what to do with an insane wife. To your relief, Gordy took you seriously. He said he would observe the bear tomorrow while you tended to the farm and find out what happened to the ring.
You felt relieved the next day. After a night of sleep and in the brightness of day, you could almost promise you had merely overreacted to the expensive gift. Gordy would find the ring playing with your daughter today, and everything would return to normal. You didn’t think anything of it when Gwen and Gordy came out as you finished milking the cows for the evening. Gwen insisted on helping Takakura put the chickens to bed in the coop. You smiled, excited to see her take an interest in the farm.
Gordy motioned you to follow him. He had found the ring but didn’t think you could get it back. Puzzled, you followed your husband to Gwen’s room. Gordy pointed to Tina’s left eye and asked you to look closely. You bent down, bringing your face even with the stuffed bear’s to peer into the glass eye. You could see the glimmer of silver and amethyst before the eye blinked shut.

Part Two: Two strangers in an online chat room hit it off. Turns out they’re childhood sweethearts.
Once more, this is just long but completely SFW fluff. I'm just separating into two groups and posting below the cut due to length, not content.
I did include the first paragraphs of the setup again; in case someone needed it and didn't want to find the other post. If you don't need/want it, you can just skip to whoever's name you want.
The city is a cold place. People kept to themselves and trudged through the press of bodies to follow their own lives. You had tried to make friends, but the relationships fell short. They ended with your working hours, and despite people promising to keep in touch, they disappeared from your life after moving. It was one of the reasons you loved getting online. The chatroom you eagerly logged into had them each day. The mysterious person behind another screen in another place understood you and cared.
Then your life was upended. The company you worked for downsized and fired you. The stiff competition for jobs with failed interviews and unchanging rent quickly drain your funds. Takakura’s letter and invitation to the farm were a beacon in the dark. You explained your plans to move to a rural community and the disconnection of your services for the time. You arrived in Forget-Me-Not Valley apprehensive about starting your life over with the only support you knew gone. You were relieved to see a familiar face, even if it was an old childhood sweetheart. They helped you adjust to your new surroundings. You soon found yourself remembering why you had fallen for them years ago.
You couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief when you managed to get your services running once again. The screen revealed unread messages. Your chatroom confidant had asked if you were comfortable sharing where you were moving. You had told them your location in the city, trusting the crowds of people to mask your exact location. But their messages revealed they live in Forget-Me-Not Valley and offered assistance if it was here or Mineral Town you were moving to. You shut everything down in a panic leaving the messages on read. Who could it be? Were you ready to meet them? How would you tell your friend?
CODY/GORDY
Gordy was your first friend when you started attending art classes. His older sister followed, but while she chased down the bullies - Gordy was the silent support. He was the one who patiently listened to your musings and offered suggestions to improve your work. You didn’t realize how much you depended on him until you were overwhelmed in the city. As adults in the valley meeting again, you swore instantly not to fall into depending on him so much. Gordy would let you, but you could rebuild the farm on your own. No, you needed to do this for yourself.
Those were your intentions, but you fell into old habits naturally. Gordy didn’t say much when you arrived stressed and frustrated day after day. He just listened and made suggestions like you never spent a day apart. You arrived at his house in the morning to talk about your online friend, but Gordy was already working. You attempted to catch his attention, but he was too focused. You idly moved to pick flowers at the Turtle Pond while you waited for him.
The afternoon passed, and Gordy still had not budged. You couldn’t wait much longer; there were animals and crops to attend. You hurried home, deciding you would handle the problem, and talk to Gordy about it tomorrow. You took a few deep breaths before politely hitting send on your reply. It said as nicely as you could figure out how you had reunited with your childhood crush and wanted to pursue that relationship. You would still be glad to meet them, but your feelings changed over the past few months.
You tried to remain calm as the box indicated them typing several times before a reply finally appeared. It simply asked you to meet them at the beach. You thought about making an excuse for it being late but agreed to head there. You shouldn’t run from this; everyone in the valley was friendly. Whoever it was would understand. You were shocked to discover Gordy was there as you approached. He didn’t need to see you meeting someone else and get the wrong idea. He caught sight of you while you were anxiously glancing around for anyone else.
Gordy apologized for asking you out late at night but felt you should talk in person rather than in the chatroom. You instantly froze at his words. This was not how you intended to confess your feelings for him. Gordy hesitated before softly asking you if he was your childhood crush. You numbly nodded in response. Gordy seemed relieved as he admitted he had always felt the same but wasn’t brave enough to say anything. He had always felt like his art declined once you were no longer at his side.
GUSTAFA
To say you didn’t recognize Gustafa was an understatement. Gone was the child you used to play knights and dragons with, replaced by an adult with facial hair! Gustafa teased you looked the same was how he recognized you. He had learned an impressive amount of instruments since Gustafa had moved away. You quickly realized you had never gotten over him as your first love, as you caught up and spent time together. Gustafa would still give someone the shirt off his back to help.
You only took a moment to overcome the initial shock before logging back online. It was better to nip this in the bud now. You swiftly declined any meeting with them. This person didn’t know you or where you were. As much as it hurt, it would be easier to let them go. You took the extra step to suggest stopping all contact. Forget-Me-Not Valley was small. This person would know where you were if you continued to talk about your everyday life and events. There was no way you could risk ruining your relationship with Gustafa.
You tossed and turned until morning, wrestling with a guilty conscience. It felt cruel to suddenly cut them off with little to no explanation as to why. They helped you through the most depressing time of your life. You hesitated, gazing at the black screen before hurrying to your fields. If you were busy, you couldn’t overthink and change your mind. You were finishing brushing your livestock when you caught sight of Gustafa out of the corner of your eye. His gait seemed slower, and his head hung down, looking at the ground as he walked to the Goddess Spring.
Gustafa noticed you quickly when you stumbled to his side at the spring. His troubles were momentarily forgotten seeing you drenched in sweat from running after him. You reassured Gustafa you were fine; you were worried about him. It wasn’t often the musician looked down. He looked surprised before chuckling; he couldn’t hide much from you.
He said it might not sound important, but he was worried. Someone he considered a close friend of Gustafa’s had suddenly cut contact with him. He said they were going through a difficult time and just moved. Gustafa was concerned about them being a place without support and cutting all contact when they finally got back online. You felt the blood drain from your face as Gustafa shared this information. Gustafa saw you go pale and stopped to try to attend to you. He wouldn’t stop fussing to listen until you raised your voice. Shakily, you asked if your username was who he was talking with. Gustafa’s eyebrows shot up from behind his glasses at the revelation.
You were struggling, trying to figure out what more to say, when Gustafa heaved a sigh of relief. He smiled saying what a relief it was to know you were okay. Gustafa was also excited to know you were the one he had been talking with. He had always regretted how sad you looked when he left town as a teen. Now, he felt like he’d made up some for leaving you behind years ago.
LUMINA
You had memories of Lumina from your childhood. Your dad had encouraged you to be friends with the delicate girl. Lumina had just moved to the valley after losing her mom. Your dad worried the rowdy Rock might be too much for her. You mainly remembered her as a cute living doll with big brown eyes. Seeing her again years later, she didn’t seem much different though you were sad she didn’t wear the frilly dresses anymore.
Lumina gave you conflicted feelings now. You thought you liked her as a child because she was like your dolls, but you found yourself questioning it more and more each day. And now? Now you were comparing her against your online friend. You were shocked when Sebastian turned you away at the door when you arrived at the manor. Lumina was the one who invited you for tea today! The elderly butler said she wasn’t feeling well and asked you to return another day.
Sighing, you decided you might as well face your online friend head-on today instead. You logged onto the game to see they were online. Dolly29 ignored your request to chat. You frowned and instead sent them a message detailing your shock they also lived in the valley and apologizing for not responding sooner. You were hardly surprised when their reply contained your real name with a question mark. You confirmed your identity before they logged off abruptly. You had expected them to come over and reveal their identity, but no one came.
You rubbed your face as you dragged yourself uphill to the Villa. Staying up late to see if they logged back in was a terrible move on your part. Hopefully, Lumina felt better today. When you arrived, Lumina quickly ushered you upstairs to her room, telling Romana and Sebastian not to disturb tea. Lumina apologized. She didn’t realize you played the magician online and had only assumed the worst. Lumina wasn’t sure how to respond when she realized it was you after refusing to see you yesterday.
Lumina giggled at your shock when you began questioning her. Why did she choose the name Dolly of all things? She didn’t even like or own any dolls. You found yourself blushing alongside Lumina when she answered it had been your nickname for her as kids.
MARLIN/MATTHEW
The username _InspiringCrops_ should help you narrow down who it could be, right? The idea seemed a good one. It had to be someone at Vesta’s farm, but then you noticed the community garden in town. Tei was most dedicated to the crops there and didn’t seem serious. He was saving money for the inn by growing what he could was your impression.
You stood fishing and observing Vesta’s farm from across the river. Ignoring the fish on your line, you worried about who was your chatroom companion. Vesta would be the most awkward, you decided. She had always been an older sister figure for you as a child. Once she found out about your crush on Marlin, she made it a point to try and get the two of you together. Vesta had not forgotten or seemed to think your feelings might have changed even now. The winks she gave you when Vesta said to talk with her brother about purchasing made it obvious.
“I thought you were purchasing new seeds today?” Takakura asked. You quickly covered that you were, but there had been a giant fish you wanted to catch. He mercifully nodded, accepting your excuse despite the slack line. You inwardly groaned as you trudged to the farm.
Cecilia greeted you first from the fields like a ray of sunshine. Her eyes widened when you asked about where Marlin was and purchasing seeds. “Oh, I don’t think today is a good day. He was upset about something on the computer this morning.”
You winced. Was it more bad news from the professionals he saw in the city? You never would have suspected the lively boy who chased you with bugs would receive such a diagnosis. The world really wasn’t fair. You reassured Cecilia you’d be back for the seeds but wanted to check on Marlin first. Raised voices made you hesitate before knocking to enter the house. Marlin and Vesta were arguing about you. Vesta lectured him about fixating on online strangers when you were right there. You blushed, realizing this was too large of a coincidence.
“Are you Inspiring Crops?” you excitedly burst through the door. “I’m-”
You only briefly saw Vesta’s beaming smile before Marlin grabbed your hand and dragged you toward the windmills. Marlin listened quietly as you excitedly explained how you knew his username and who you were. You loved watching him shove his hands in his pockets and blush as you confessed being relieved it was him since you had loved him since childhood. Marlin muttered about having the same feelings, but Vesta would be insufferable now.
MUFFY/MOLLY
BeautyCheerUp! was your lifeline in the city. The person behind the screen seemed to have every aspect of their life together. They gave everyone helpful tips on life in the crowded streets and sent invitations to events from around the city for people to attend. You worried when they disappeared, but now their return online and news of living in Forget-Me-Not Valley was too much.
You couldn’t get your nerve up to meet them in the city. How were you supposed to do it with just the two of you? You groaned yet again over the issue as you finished chores. Today was a day to treat yourself, you decided. At least good food and a drink would make some part of you feel better. Besides, Molly’s confidence and upbeat personality would make you feel better. She had always had that effect, even as kids. She was the classic girl-next-door, perfect in every way. You blushed at the thought and quickly washed up to head to the cafe for dinner. Molly’s usual enthusiastic greeting was subdued when you entered. Griffin’s confused look was replaced with relief when you ordered and gave him something to do.
“Listen to this darling,” Molly sighed, giving up on pretending to work. She told you about someone in the city she always liked but could never meet. After her mental health dipped, she quit everything and moved to the valley for a fresh start. Recently, Molly had gotten back online to see they had moved. She reached out to try and offer help, but they ignored her. Molly felt disappointed, but at least your visit made up for it some.
You choked on your food as Molly finished her story. Scrambling to form a coherent sentence, you asked if she was BeautyCheerUp! You couldn’t believe it. Molly had seemed perfect online. You never dreamed she would have had the same feelings as you about not fitting in and being unlucky in love.
“I’m not sure I believe that anymore,” Molly sniffed. Your heart dropped just a moment in disbelief. She didn’t believe you were from the chatroom. “If we’ve found each other this many times over and fallen for each other, then it must be fate. Nothing else worked out because nothing else mattered.”

NSFW - An Artist's Neurosis
GORDY x Possessive Reader
This one is actually an expanded prose rewrite of a poem I did for college. I plagiarized myself. TW: Death, Allusions to Murder (Poison)
Art will never make you money. Your mother ingrained that lesson after you proudly presented your first playdough sculpture. You listlessly filled notebooks with your sketches of people as you drifted through a monotonous life in the city. Occasionally, you would stop by a craft store and purchase clay to make minute busts. None of this filled the itch, so when Takakura contacted you about the farm, it seemed a godsend. If you drained yourself with harsh physical labor, maybe you’d drown the urge to create. You never thought to meet your Adonis in the tiny valley town.
Gordy was a pensive artist that could understand your desires. He stood head and shoulders above the rest. His features perfectly eluded your efforts to capture them. You could drown in the frustration, but Gordy was an artist. He understood and sympathized with your struggles to portray your art. You hoped he could find inspiration in you as you did him. Gordy would make an impeccable lifelong companion, a case study that wouldn’t disappear. Gordy was unlike your previous relationships, who all fled when they discovered your sincere renditions of their delicate features, or so you thought.
You could still feel the rage from his betrayal even now. Despite the time you obsessively provided Gordy, he fell for the blonde barmaid over you. Gordy confided his feelings in you, comparing Molly to his Galatea. He planned to confess to her when he left. You managed to delay him with a toast for his good fortune. The tea tasted bitter as he cheered, but it was nothing compared to what you served him.
It was a few days before Molly came to your door, desperate to find Gordy. You gladly welcomed her in. You had finished by this point. Molly’s screams went unnoticed by you as you examined your work. An immaculate sculpture of Gordy stood in the center of your home. The statue stood pristine and proud, a replica. It was easy to complete when Gordy’s body lay still at your disposal for days as a reference.
You glared at Molly as she tearfully testified to what she found at your home. The prospect of jail time wasn’t what angered you so much. If she continued this pity party, they would destroy Gordy’s sculpture. Then you would lose him as well.

How they respond to hearing you have a crush on them.
CELIA/CECILIA
Cecilia overhears Marlin grumbling to Vesta one morning about you. Though she knows it's wrong, she pauses on the stairs to listen in. He is complaining about how obvious you are in having a crush on Ceci. Marlin doesn’t think you’re a good fit for her. You distract her from work and aren’t good enough with nothing but a run-down farm to your name. Vesta laughs and says she likes your sincerity and determination. She thinks you’d be a perfect fit for Cecilia with how much progress you made on the farm in such a short time. Ceci’s face flushes at the thought; it feels like an impossible dream to think you would like her. Why would you choose her? You were close with the glamorous, outgoing Molly and accomplished young Lumina. Not to mention the last time you met, Cecilia had unloaded about an arranged marriage and her misgivings. The next time you see Cecilia, she seems hesitant to speak with you and avoids meeting your eyes. Cecilia nervously laughs when you ask what’s wrong and confesses what she overheard this morning between Marlin and Vesta. You confirm that you do have feelings for her. You were doing your best to be discreet since Cecilia had the arranged marriage date coming up, and you wanted the best for her. She quickly assures you that she has the same feelings and would always choose you over anyone else.
CODY/GORDY
Gordy is surprised when Gustafa lets slip you have a crush on him. Gustafa quickly backtracks and asks that Gordy doesn’t let you know. He was told the secret in confidence, but Gustafa thought Gordy and you would be great together. Gordy gives the thought serious consideration over the next couple of days. His work has always consumed his mind rather than love. As he worked on sorting through his feelings on this information, Gordy naturally became more attentive to observing you when you spoke with him. You didn’t seem unaware of this new focus. You blushed as the large man’s purple eyes bore into your own. Gordy realizes he has had more inspiration and motivation since you arrived in the valley. The sculpture outside his house is improving as Gordy spends time with you, and he enjoys your moments together. Is this the love that Gustafa sings about? Gordy decides to explore where these feelings lead. He starts to prolong conversations with you when he sees you. Gordy doesn’t want to rush through his feelings for you, so he can one day express them adequately with his art.
DARYL
He overhears Rock complaining to Lumina about why anyone, especially you, would have a crush on Daryl. He just doesn’t get it. Daryl had heard the term throughout his school years but never paid it much thought. He couldn’t understand why people were so wrapped in liking someone and made a note to research a ‘crush’ in more detail at the lab. A crush was a bit more than just liking someone Daryl discovered. Instead, it is an intense and usually passive infatuation. All valuable and reliable information ended with the dictionary’s definition. Daryl’s interest peeked. He wasted no time in confronting you about your crush and that he wished to observe the physiological systems at play. You blinked in surprise, shocked by the sudden request but agreed. He quickly identified that blushing and sweaty hands occurred alongside dilated pupils. You had an increased heart rate, but he could not get an accurate baseline read as it spiked each time he tried. Daryl noticed you tripped over your words with him and not with others in the valley. Daryl only needed to discover why his lab felt warmer and his stomach tight when you were around.
FLORA
Flora is flattered when she hears you have a crush on her. She had never given much thought to matters of infatuation or love. Flora likes the idea of one day getting married and having children, but her career seemed more pressing after school. Your crush helped explain how you made so much time to help at the site with a farm to run. Flora spends a few weeks working through her feelings. The last thing she wants to do is act rashly on impulse. She is uncertain if she feels love or infatuation for you. Flora enjoys your company. She wonders where you are and if you’re okay when you are late or don’t arrive at the dig site. Could this be the start of affection? She had many crushes of her own when she was a young girl. They seemed so long ago Flora wasn’t sure of her feelings, and all the pondering hadn’t helped. She would like to focus on you and see what caused her indecision. Flora soon invites you to dinner at the cafe to spend time together outside work.
GUSTAFA
You were sitting by his yurt, humming along to the chords Gustafa strummed. You reflected on how close you had gotten to Gustafa. You never expected it from the brief pointing out Takakura did. After all, Gustafa was a traveling musician. Who knew how long he would stick around here? His playing felt so relaxing to stop and listen to as you struggled. The melodies he played were like a spell to lift your troubles for snatches of time before resuming your responsibilities once more.
“What’d you think?” Gustafa’s voice roused you from thought.
“I like you.”
You watched his eyebrows shoot up in surprise from behind his glasses as you froze in wide-eyed horror. That was not what you meant to say. Mortified, you hurriedly tried to explain. You had a sinking feeling as he tugged the wide brim of his pointed hat down to hide his face further. Gustafa softly explained that your confession made things easier for him. He’s had a crush on you for a while but was worried about you not feeling the same. Gustafa asked if you’d like to meet with him for a drink at the bar that evening.
LUMINA
Lumina felt frustrated when she discovered you had a crush on her. She was obvious in dropping hints of her crush on you. At least, she thought she had been. How could she make it more clear? Lumina was scared to confess. What if she was wrong and you only thought of her as a friend? Or worse, like a sister. No, she would much rather you confess first. It needed to be before Aunt Romana found out you were who she was pining for and got involved. But how? Lumina’s eyes widened as she had a brilliant idea. You said something interesting the other day that could help move things along. The next time you came by, Lumina mentioned she had been thinking of how you didn’t know how to play an instrument. It was one of the reasons you liked to listen to her play. Lumina gazed off to the side and shuffled her feet as she offered to teach you. She was thrilled when you enthusiastically agreed to lessons. Lumina found chances to ‘accidentally’ brush hands or correct your placement as you sat squeezed together on the piano bench. Each of your blushes felt like she was inching closer to one of you admitting your feelings.
MARLIN/MATTHEW
Marlin returns to the house after speaking to you about Cecilia turning into Vesta in his most recent dream. Ceci greets him at the door with a huge grin and a sparkle in her eyes. Marlin froze in shock as she asked what you talked about. He mumbled something about hybrid crops. Marlin had barely told you and certainly didn’t want to share his dream with either of them. Cecilia let out a disappointed sigh in response. She was so sure you had confessed. Nonplussed, Marlin asked what she was talking about. Vesta says it's because you obviously like him a great deal when Ceci hesitates to answer. He grumbles that they must be mistaken; you’re that nice to everyone. His sister shakes her head, telling him he should watch you closer if he thinks that. Marlin watches you more as you pass by their farm. He doesn’t see anything different at all as you wave towards them. Marlin headed to the cafe with his hands shoved in his pockets. He had foolishly gotten his hopes up listening to Cecilia and Vesta. Marlin hoped a drink would help. He didn’t expect to see you selling from a stall. It stung to see you smile at Gordy as you passed over some flowers. He was about to turn and leave when your eyes met. Your radiant smile when you met his eyes made him realize Vesta was right. You didn’t give a smile like that to everyone.
MUFFY/MOLLY
She’s heard this before about prior guys, and nothing ever came of it. So, Molly does her best not to get her hopes up. She will not confront you but continues to act the same as before. Molly’s teasing and flirting are not limited to you as Molly continues the occasional date with city boys. She comes to you for support and a shoulder to cry on with each disastrous result. Eventually, you’re frustrated enough to tell her to stop. Molly shouldn’t keep entertaining guys that aren’t good enough for her. YOU like her and have for a while now and would treat her like the goddess she is. You avoid looking at Molly while trying to get your blush under control from such a confession. When the silence drags on, you peek at Molly to see her reaction. The tears in her green eyes cause you to panic as you fumble to comfort her and apologize. Molly brushes you off as she smiles through her tears. She was just surprised you had such strong feelings for her. Molly was scared to get her hopes up, but to hear you confess made her so happy she couldn’t stop the tears of relief. Her eyes crinkle with a giant smile as you promise this is the first and last time you’ll make her cry.
NAMI
Nami realizes she has a crush on you long before she finds out it goes both ways. At first, Nami couldn’t figure out her feelings. She traveled around so much that she didn’t usually make close connections with others. The valley had been different, and she’d stayed too long to leave at this point. Nami should have left the first day you arrived. She was proud of how great she had hidden her growing feelings or thought she was. Nami felt a bit disappointed when you left to continue your day.  After watching her parents' relationship fall apart as a child, she had trouble trusting there were good ones. Galen and Nina had shown her that love could easily carry on for years. Nami wanted that. However, each time she thought to confess, her doubts would overwhelm her. When you admitted your feelings, Nami felt she could be honest too.
ROCK
“Are you sure you’re not tired? You’ve been running through my-”
“Yeah, I am tired. Your dog is such a sore loser when he loses races to me. I’m glad someone understands how taxing that is.” Rock cut off your cheesy pickup line rattling about his day on your farm. You thought this would be the easiest way to say you liked him. You could brush it off as a joke at the worst. You never expected he would interrupt you before you could finish. At least he was happy you sympathized with him, so it wasn’t a complete miss.
“Do you know CPR? Because-”
“Nah, Dr. Baddoch tried to tell me, but it seemed like a lot to remember. And he said you’d have to do compressions until a professional arrived. Do you know how far off he lives? I think it’s better left to someone else.”
Rock was driving you to frustration. Was he being this difficult on purpose? You seriously doubted it, but he foiled each pickup line.
“I bet you dinner that-”
“Dinner sounds great. We can skip the bet and just to you winning. What did you plan on-” You cut him off by pressing your lips to his. If he wouldn’t stay quiet, then you’d make sure he found out another way.

How they act when sick
CELIA/CECILIA
Cecilia mostly knows her limits from being sickly before moving to the valley. She will not try to work in the fields but wants to visit the Goddess Pond. Cecilia is surprisingly good at slipping away from Marlin and Vesta’s watchful eye each time. They eventually speak with you to request you keep an eye out and go with her if you can. Ceci notices this after you conveniently follow her along the path with the excuse to pick herbs and flowers. She seems paler as she insists you don’t change plans because of her and worrying about being an inconvenience. You convince her it’s no bother and you’re worried for her health. Over time, you convince Cecilia to use your home as a halfway point. She eventually confesses your milk soup has become her favorite comfort food for the days she feels weak.
CODY/GORDY
Gordy is close to being a perfect patient. He takes medicine and limits his exertion according to what is appropriate without much oversight. Gordy doesn’t cause you any stress worrying over his well-being even while sick, most of the time. He is prone to forgetting to care for himself when inspiration strikes. Gordy cannot let it pass by remaining in bed or sitting idle and must act before the idea flees. He becomes intently focused and often does not hear your protests. Your first fight with Gordy occurred over this tendency. Unable to distract him, you stepped between him and his art. In retrospect, you knew it was a bad idea, but at the moment, you didn’t realize it until his fist hit the metal next to your head. The action scared both of you. Gordy recovered first to lecture you on how dangerous it was to get in the middle. You defended by saying how he wouldn’t listen and take a break. You compromise by him keeping a notepad to note his inspirations, and you make sure to have his attention before moving in front of him while he is working.
DARYL
You find him complaining about the lab being colder lately though it feels like a sauna. It takes a while, but you convince Daryl to hold still long enough to check his temperature. You confirm he’s running a fever and should probably rest and recover. Daryl is appalled by your suggestion. He cannot take a sick day! There is too much Daryl needs to do for the day. Daryl shoos you from his lab so he can continue work without distractions as you attempt to reason with the man. You stop by Van’s to purchase medicine before sneaking back into the lab. You find Daryl writing a formula on his chalkboard though it's just the same small sequence repeating. Daryl is worse than a child in refusing the medicine and taking a nap. You learn Daryl is apprehensive of medication and its effects in forcing him to sleep. He worries thieves will take his work. You promise to keep watch over the lab before he finally relents. Daryl eventually falls asleep with your wrist held in his grasp to be sure you won’t leave.
FLORA
You exit your farm to see Carter heading for the inn. Carter explains that he isn’t sure what Flora is cooking, but he cannot be a part of it this time. Feeling concerned, you head for their tent near the waterfall. Everything appears normal when you arrive. It isn’t until you call out a greeting and pull back the flap you see the problem. Noxious fumes make you gag as Flora turns to you from a tar-like gunk bubbling in a pot. While you try to clean the mess, Flora explains she felt under the weather and planned to take medicine. Then she thought it would be more effective to take all of them and add additional healthy herbs and plants from the mountainside resulting in the black sludge. You beg Flora to let you know in the future instead of taking matters into her own hands. You know several recipes and safe mixtures from your mom’s nursing career that would be better than blind experimentation. Flora looks thoughtful for a moment before agreeing to your request.
GUSTAFA
Gustafa always claimed he was one with nature. You believed him; he was the only person you’d ever seen smile and seem unbothered by a downpour. You weren’t concerned when you found the man leaning with his head pressed to a tree around the Goddess Pond. Gustafa turned his head only slightly to look your way when you teased him about communing with nature in such a way. He offered a weak smile in return, which told you something was wrong. Gustafa tries to wave you off, explaining that he just needs a moment. He felt a little dizzy and wasn’t used to getting sick, so it caught him off guard. You ignore Gustafa’s protests as you drag him back to his yurt. Once there, you have to argue with him about fetching medicine. Gustafa insists it’s nothing that serious, just a cold. You both agree for him to rest and check on how he feels from there. Gustafa comments it’s hard to sleep during the day as it feels too quiet in the yurt. Instead of leaving him to rest, you stay and sing an old lullaby you know until you both fall asleep.
LUMINA
It’s near impossible to assist Lumina when she’s sick, not because of her, but because Romana and Sebstatian hover. The butler banned you from the mansion until Lumina begged to see you. He only allowed you in with strict rules and a search to ensure you weren’t bringing anything unapproved by Dr. Baddoch’s treatment plan. Lumina herself seems to handle her temporary cold well and is more upset that everyone is in a frenzy instead. She dutifully eats, rests, and medicates as she should. Lumina’s only complaint is how dreadfully bored she gets sitting in her room all day. She is thrilled when you bring new books for her. You receive a short heartfelt thanks before being rushed from the manor as Romana summons Dr. Baddoch for a spike in Lumina’s fever when her cheeks turn red.
MARLIN/MATTHEW
Marlin’s old job in the city was not generous with sick time, so he learned to work through it. He keeps the same mindset at Vesta’s Farm. Marlin has trouble accepting that Cecilia and Vesta will handle his share without feeling guilty and pushes forward to do it himself anyway. It takes both of them and threats from Vesta of tying him to the bed to confine Marlin indoors. When you visit to buy seeds, you catch him peering from a window, craning for a look into the fields. You have to lure Marlin from the window with questions about hybrid crops and what would be better combinations. He finally seems to relax as he explains why your first attempts were terrible and how to improve them.
MUFFY/MOLLY
Molly doesn’t get sick often. She claims it's because of how close you get to everyone else in the City. Her immune system had to be strong from a young age. Molly does suffer immensely from seasonal allergies in the Spring and Fall. The amount of pollen in Forget-Me-Not Valley is higher and something she’s only somewhat getting used to. Molly’s dainty sneezes, headaches, and watery eyes tear at your heart. She handles it relatively well, though she clings to your arm more outside when she’s off work. Molly is over the moon when you gift her some local honey, hoping it helps her symptoms. It seems to work, as she’s happy to show off the liquid gold from her hunny.
NAMI
Nami is the type who doesn’t need your help. She is self-sufficient from traveling on her own. Nami would whether treat herself and stay curled in bed than bother anyone else. That isn’t to say she won’t appreciate you doing little things for her here and there. The homemade meals you bring are always enjoyed with one of her favorite worn books while she recovers. Nami does not want you in the room too long for worry that you’ll end up sick. She shoves you from the room when you mention her flushed face and checking her temperature.
ROCK
Rock already enjoys taking it easy and now has the perfect reason to. He handles sickness and pain well overall. You would think Rock was faking his illness or injury if it wasn’t for Dr. Baddoch’s expert diagnosis. You quickly learn giving Rock a bell to ring for assistance was a terrible thing to do. He summons you for everything under the sun. He doesn’t like the TV channel and wants it changed; the pillows are flat, he’s hungry, he needs a sip of water, etc. When he notices you beginning to get frustrated, his reasons change. Rock claims he was lonely and wanted to see you. He thinks cuddles from you might make him heal faster. A kiss would probably be even better.
