By Antony Loewenstein, author of The Palestine Laboratory (2023)
[...] The problem in Israel isn’t solely Netanyahu. He’s the symptom of a major larger societal shift. Replacing him with another carbon copy will change little for the millions of Palestinians who live under a brutal military occupation. One possible successor, Benny Gantz, has spent his career proudly promoting the destruction he’s caused in Gaza in previous wars. [...] Back in 2019, I wrote for the Jewish Forward outlet in the US that anti-Palestinian racism was ubiquitous in Israel, undeniably exploding since 7 October, and Netanyahu had simply been a reflection of contemporary Israel.   A 2016 poll found that close to half of Jewish citizens wouldn’t live in the same apartment blocks as Arabs. Fast forward to early 2024 and 68 percent of Israeli Jews opposed facilitating humanitarian aid to Gaza, according to an Israeli Democracy Institute study. This is at a time when Palestinians in Gaza are starving to death due to Israel’s deliberate policy of withholding lifesaving aid into the besieged territory. As far back as a 2012 poll, a majority of Israeli Jews opposed voting rights for Arabs if the Jewish state annexed the West Bank, and one-third of Israelis wanted Arabs in Israel to be denied the right to vote. In other words, apartheid was the Israeli vision for Palestine.

Gun Park with Amane Ubuyashiki reader, ft. Daniel Park (Part 1)
Tumblr media
There are two ways that Gun can meet you. Either as a Himorogi or an Ubuyashiki.
• If you are a Himorogi, then you are still a student of religious studies in Shintoism. Your grades are so high and perfect that you became the class president of the Religious Studies Department (founded by yours truly). You are also very intelligent that you can rival student prodigies in the Science and Mathematics Department.
• Your beauty is also an aspect of what you are known for in Jaewon High , the large amount of admirers that worship your graceful and elegant aura is astonishing to the point where students thought you should've been in the Beauty and Cosmetics Department. A lot of women are jealous of you because of the same reason and some even threatened you, but you remained calm and expressionless. That lifeless look in your eyes intimidated many people but also made them feel drawn to your mysterious personality.
• You befriended Daniel after hearing him from Kagaya's crow. It told news about it witnessing one of the Ubuyashiki rivals, Charles Choi's daughter and bodyguard stepping into the school grounds. You immediately got up from your library study and head straight to the school festival.
• You made sure to keep distance from the pretty woman and black-eyed man to spy on them. Not even one hour and Gun is already starting a fight... Well, it's actually not him that started the fight, it's that Daniel Park boy who insisted on talking to the girl but the bodyguard prevented him from doing so.
• Luckily, Vasco interrupted before Gun can pulverize Daniel some more. The fight was broken off by Crystal and the two outsiders left the campus. You stepped out of the shadows and joined the injured two, offering them first aid. Vasco insisted that he doesn't need your help but was influenced by your persistent demeanor and let you treat his nose. You politely bowed to introduce yourself to the boys and looked at Daniel for permission to treat his bruise. The flustered handsome man nodded his head in a yes gesture. After that encounter, the rest of you enjoyed the music festival.
• Time flies by and your relationship with your peers improved. You managed to befriend Zoe, Mira, Zack, Vasco, Jace, and even Jay. But at the same time, you were emotionally distant and interacted with everyone only at arm's length. Your quiet behavior and creepy eyes unnerved them a bit.
• Daniel is starting to question you why you became more involved in his life and you answered,
Amane! Reader: "I saw the way you fought that man... If Gun sees potential in you to be his successor, then we'll all be doomed."
Daniel: "...C-Come again...?"
• You explained to Daniel that if Gun were to recruit him, he will train Daniel the ways of a merciless and ruthless fighter and if he succeeds his training through further recruitment from the higher ups, he will be tasked by Charles Choi to destroy the Ubuyashiki family and the Himorogi family as well as the connections that are tied to the two clans.
• Your family may be representatives of several Shinto shrines but even they have some connections with the Ubuyashiki clan, who own a corporation of highly trained fighters targeting gangs and other illegal unions. The corporation is large enough to reach from Japan to South Korea and their most powerful fighters guard and control districts undercover. These top fighters are called Hashiras and each one of them have a reason for joining the corporation as well as a reason to fight. Their fighters are known for having constant conflict with an organization called The Twelve Kizuki.
• Unfortunately, Gun Park, one of the top fighters from one of the corporation's rivals, is eliminating the fighters one by one, causing a major problem for the corporation. You plan on recruiting Daniel and train him to defeat Gun, even telling Daniel that the corporation offers rewards and incentives if he joins you but it still his choice to make whether he wants to work with you or not.
• Weeks passed, due to the increasing homework and performance tasks dumped handed by the teachers, your friends are too worried about the deadline and forgot about that incident. You, on the other hand, counted each day after that. Who knows when Choi will strike?
• One day, you decided to ask Daniel for his final answer and walked home with him. However the moment is ruined when an expensive looking sports car suddenly parked in front of you. The driver of the car came out and look who it is... Gun Park himself.
• Daniel became alert but you remained calm. You can tell by Daniel's stance that he's ready to throw hands. Gun ignored the sudden defensiveness and then asked the boy if he's reconsidered his offer. Outwardly, you are unfazed by the interaction but internally, you are surprised at the hint that Daniel may or may not have told you about Gun's offer. Gun walked closer to you two and stared at Daniel for any indication of the boy changing his mind but you stepped in front of Daniel.
Amane! Reader: "Excuse me for interrupting, but we have somewhere urgent we need to go."
• He made eye contact with you and leaned closer, his height intimidated many but you stood your ground. An awkward silence fills the tense atmosphere as you and the tall man engage in a silent glaring contest. It felt like the abyss is glaring back at the void.
Gun: "Hey. Move."
Amane! Reader: "... I'm sorry but I won't."
• Well, this looks like it'll be difficult to shake him off. He's the first to cut the glaring when he turns his piercing gaze at Daniel. He walked past you and placed his hand on Daniel's shoulder, he brings his mouth close to his ear and whispered...
Gun: "Listen here... if you want to train your body to its fullest potential and master techniques to an extent, then accept my offer, yeah?"
Daniel: "........."
• Gun drew his hand back to his pocket and smirked. Daniel didn't respond and just looked at you with guilt in his eyes.
• Don't tell me... He's actually thinking of...?
• A blur flashed by your eyes as Gun almost kicked you in the side of your head but his leg stopped mid-air. The black-eyed man is actually impressed that you didn't flinch. Daniel was about to intervene your little confrontation but stopped after you held your hand up as if to signal a stop sign to him.
• You look at Gun, no fear evident in your eyes. It's almost as if you're mocking him...
Amane! Reader: "Is that all?"
Gun: "....Yes."
• The man didn't say anything further and went back to his car but not without reminding Daniel of the offer's deadline and then drove off.
• You and Daniel continued to walk home. He wanted to apologize but you gave him a final warning to never accept Gun's offer and left.
• You grew more worried about Daniel as he makes his way to one of the top fighters in school, making enemies left and right. But he also gained allies. Like you, for example, you keep reporting to Ubuyashiki as to protect Daniel from the eyes of other organizations. However, Gun was getting impatient.
• Gun was called in by Charles Choi for a new task. He gave him an assignment that requires him to bribe someone and if they decline, he must kill them. An typical assignment that bores him to the point where he thinks that Goo was more suited for the job. But all it took was one glance at your file and he became interested. Charles noted Gun's eyes filled with recognition upon scanning through your profile and assumed he was at least familiar with you.
• He kept the file and walked out of the office, he'll read more of it in his car. No wonder you're so protective of Daniel Park. You had an ulterior motive for keeping that guy away from him.
• The bell rings and you go outside of the entrance gate to wait for Daniel, in hopes of hearing his decision. Your wait was interrupted by car rolling its window down which revealed Gun Park as the driver. Your body froze. This is bad. Daniel hasn't exited his classroom. And you're certain that this man is MUCH more powerful than you in terms of strength.
• The man got out of his car and begin slowly approach you. Every painfully slow step he takes towards you feels like you're facing a demon... He stops and just stares at you. Despite the difference between your intimidation tactics, you're not backing down. Another glare-down with hidden conflict was engaged. Both of you neither talked, just glared. The only sound there is are the loudly chatting students exiting from the school's entrance.
• After a long while, Daniel still hasn't arrived, and the loudness of the students become muffled until they've gone their way home. The silence was no longer on your side anymore, it's making you uncomfortable enough to speak first...
Amane! Reader: "... Pardon me, may I ask for what motive do you have to come all the way here?"
Gun: "...I'm not gonna waste both of our time... I have a proposition for you."
Amane! Reader: "... A proposition?"
Gun: "Yeah... It's simple. If you leave Daniel Park, you live. If you won't, you die. Deal?"
Amane! Reader: "And what makes you think I'll accept this one-sided offer?"
Gun: "Does the name Charles Choi sound familiar?"
Amane! Reader: "..............."
Gun: "He wants you to work for him. For you to leave the Ubuyashiki corp. You get paid and other benefits."
Amane! Reader: "......How do you..."
Gun: "Read your profile. From the looks of it, you're more than just the Ubuyashiki head's right hand. You're also the head of the Himorogi family's Shinto shrines. I commend you... Not everyone is talented at hiding their identity for so long... Not even from that brat... So, what do you say?"
Amane! Reader: "I am not easily swayed by mere threats and bribes. If you don't have anything else to say, then have a good evening."
• You tried to walk away to get Daniel but a hand grabbed your shoulder and pinned you to the wall. The impact of your back to the cement was strong enough to put cracks on the wall. Gun's gripping hand digs into your skin, you're pretty sure that your bone cracked as well. It was so painful that you wanted to scream help but you know that he'll drag you and kill you. You have no choice but to endure the pain. Just for a bit.
• Gun's piercing jet black eyes glared down at you filled with bloodlust, urging you to give up and surrender. But you still didn't squirm, no trace of pain was evident on your face, not even a wince. You glared back at him...
Gun: "........This is your last warning....."
Amane! Reader: "..........I....Humbly...... Decline....."
• ... Until he let go. He draws his hand back as if he merely squashed a bug. There's hint of irritation on his face. He doesn't understand how a weakling with no fighter's will or experience in fighting stand their ground against him. But for some reason he felt... intimidated?
• For now, he'll let you go.
Amane! Reader: "....... Daniel is a good person..... He'll fight if he needs to..."
Gun: ".... We'll see about that."
"AMANE! READER!!"
• Ah, speaking of Daniel, here he comes now. He ran toward you and stood in front of you, shielding you away from Gun. Daniel held his arms up and shouted at Gun.
Daniel: "What do you want from them?! If you want to fight, then fight me! Don't involve them!"
Gun: "No, they are very much involved."
Amane! Reader: "Daniel, I'm fine. Please don't fight."
Daniel: "W-what? But he..."
Amane! Reader: "I'm sure Gun was just in the middle of leaving.
Gun: "......Yeah. I'm not in the mood right now... I'm leaving."
Daniel: "H-huh...?"
• Well that was unexpected... Usually Gun is constantly in fight mode. He's leaving without a fight from Daniel? The man practically can't survive a day without a fight. But today he withdraws. Daniel put his arms down and just looked dumbfounded. He has lots of questions for you.
• Gun opened the door to his car, he was about to climb in but he looked at you...
Gun: "Hey... Himorogi."
Amane! Reader: "...?"
Gun: "Whatever the hell's wrong with you, I like your boldness. That deal is offered once so expect to be hunted down."
Amane! Reader: "... I'm aware."
• With that, he drove off to report to Charles. He definitely knows that Goo will tease him about his withdrawal and "How the mighty Shiro Oni was scared off by a weakling." He'll have to punch his jaw harder later.
• ..........................
• He couldn't get his mind off of you... Those lifeless, void eyes of yours reminded him of his own, except that they have a somewhat tranquil yet secretive charm. How does the expression go? The eyes are the windows to the soul? Is that how they say it?
• Hmm... It looks like Daniel's answer is going to have to wait. He needs to know more about you...
• As he learned more about you, he realized that you were far more intelligent and mentally stronger than he thought. According to whatever information Kouji gathered, you faced off enemies of the Corp. without even lifting a finger.
• When facing an opponent, you would place hidden traps ahead of time before observing and memorizing the loopholes of the opponent's fighting style. And since you have an expressionless face and laser-focused eye contact, it makes harder for the opponent to predict your next move.
• Your physical strength is low but your mental and academical strength exceeded greatly to the point where you negotiated with leaders from gangs without much conflict. These information intrigued Gun to the point where he thought observing you himself in the shadows.
• He learned that your abilities earned you respect from both the school and the corp. Although some of the fighters there don't cooperate well with each other, you are patient and maintained a calm demeanor towards all of them, while their differing personalities unfazed you. You trained yourself with advanced leadership skills that are equivalent to the Master's in order to give proper commands.
• From all the Hashira fighters Gun has defeated, all of them remained loyal and never revealed who you or the Master are. Even if they won and returned to you with broken bones and regretted ever taking damage, you and the Master would forgive them for their mistakes, brush it off and call it progress.
• You managed to lead both the corp, your family's Shinto shrines, school assignments, and aiding your ill Master, all at the same time. Gun has never seen such loyalty before. To think all of this weight of responsibilities on your shoulders from a young age to 17. You are truly worthy of the Ubuyashiki head's right hand title.
• You really are interesting... Gun makes sure that when you two cross paths again, he'll fight you to see for himself.

My Alternate Universes
(AF) Primal Moon:
Twice a year; once in spring and once in autumn, a verdant moon rises to bring the bestial instincts of non-humans to light. Celestials and demons alike struggle to keep hold of themselves, something ancient welling up within them and shifting their thoughts and feelings to a more animalistic state.
The spring moon ends on the summer solstice, the autumn moon ends on the winter solstice.
Each week drives non-humans to feral or uninhibited states, leaving them struggling to control themselves. Violence and kidnappings spike during this time, humans as the usual victims. As a result of this, many people hold rather bigoted and fearful views towards demons and Celestials. Some even wish to oust them from society entirely.
(LMK) Monkie Glaive:
Long ago, monsters of terrifying might roamed the land freely. These beasts tore villages asunder and swallowed up the people inside, leaving naught but cinders of destruction in their wake. When a great Black Dragon came to wreak havoc upon humanity with wings spread wide, only one dared to stand against it- the legendary hunter, Sun Wukong! With his lightning-charged glaive held high, the Monkey King summoned a storm and forced the dragon down from the skies, where he overcame it in single combat! Today, in his honor, we hunters train monkeys as our partners to aid us on the field. With them, we overcome our opponents and forge a brighter future for all of humanity!
(Essentially, a Monster Hunter crossover.)
(LMK) Let’s Start Over:
It’s been years since MK’s story ended, and now yours is just beginning. Upgrading his nickname to ‘Monkie Knight’, he’s working hard to shape you into a worthy successor. As the new ‘Monkie Kid’, you are:
1. An everyday mortal, you were gifted a tiny fraction of MK’s power, allowing you to wield the staff and use his skills. Putting yourself in danger leads to the prompt removal of this privilege, and then you’re relegated to chores and stretches until MK thinks you’ve learned your lesson.
2. A Mystic Monkey in disguise, unaware of your true nature. If he finds out, he’s intent on breaking the news early, trying to keep you from having a breakdown like him. He considers you to be a kindred soul, and frequently offers to help with grooming and personal strife.
Given that MK still hasn’t overcome his trauma, he’s grown extremely protective of his successor, trying to force you down a safe and happy path. He dotes on you constantly, acting almost like a surrogate father. Instead of allowing you to explore and fight on your own, he tags along everywhere to keep you safe. He refuses to truly relinquish his responsibilities to you, instead vicariously living through the safety and security he forces onto you.
Until you get the chance to slip away and meet a resurrected villain that MK had hoped to never see again, allowing you to take the first step on your own journey.
(LMK) Taken Aboard:
Upon his visit to the sprawling Emerald Grove; a massive expanse of forest and rivers, Tang Sanzang finds a mischievous demon child living all alone- you. Taking pity on you, the Great Monk prays to Guanyin for her help, and receives two more tightening bands. Upon being ‘gifted’ these golden cuffs, you ask for the monk’s help to put them on- and are promptly dragged into a long and dangerous journey against your will.
Your fellow pilgrims come to view you as a mischievous little sibling, in need of both discipline and love. They won’t stop Sanzang from activating the bands, but are happy to help with the wounds and tears that come afterwards. They also engage in your tutoring, helping to teach you to read and write and perform basic arithmetic.
All the while, you try your hardest to escape and return home.

To expand on a prior post I've made, it is really fun and it makes a lot of sense and it feels ultimately natural that Spahr is here at the end, in this last confrontation with Weepe, because he and Weepe are rivals. They're, almost unexpectedly, foils.
They're arrogant men who allow and enable awful things to happen to others to protect and increase their social standing. They hurt the people they care about most for self-serving reasons—but in the end, only one of them takes responsibility for that. (Trustfall and Ghosts are inverse parallels, and this post discusses a portion that is most relevant here.) Weepe increasingly identifies with the Trust as Spahr is increasingly disillusioned with it, and Weepe rises to power at the same rate that Spahr falls into disgrace. Just as Weepe is convinced that he will always be an awful person and fatalistically believes he cannot ever do better, Spahr has been convinced he has a self-evident righteousness but eventually sees that not only does he not, but he can and must do better.
Beyond that, they're narratively tied together. Weepe is in the Highest Light because Spahr agrees to bring him. Spahr helps Imelda lock Weepe in the Arca, and he does it in part for smug satisfaction because of his personal dislike for Weepe. He wronged Weepe by participating in engineering the circumstances that led to his torture and by failing to intervene against it out of fear for himself, and the fact that he wronged Weepe is something that Spahr is explicitly aware of and is something that weighs heavily on his conscience. It is through the Arca that Spahr traces Weepe's ascension to Tripotentiary as a direct result of his actions; he believes that he failed to stop, or even facilitated, Weepe's rise and everything that results from it.
For much of the narrative, they're racing to the same goal, even sometimes without knowing. Spahr is on Midst specifically to find the Breach centerpoint, and Weepe identifies it as the cabaret and turns it over to the Trust before Spahr has any chance to start looking. Weepe pulls the Fuze-Loxlee investigation out from underneath Spahr when he convinces Sherman to name Fuze's murderer, ultimately succeeding where Spahr fails. He takes the information to the Upper Trust himself after Spahr was removed from the investigation for, simplistically, lack of progress. Sherman chooses to trust Weepe over Spahr, and Weepe wipes his debt before Spahr can.
When Spahr is court-martialed, he is given the opportunity (read: pressured) into donating all Valor accrued during his tenure to his successor — and then that donation apparently goes to Weepe as part of a series of donations to help set him up as Most Valorous. The role of the Prime Consector gets folded under the new position of Tripotentiary, and without a Prime Consector appointed, Weepe is the sole direction that the Company has. Weepe even moves into the residence held by the Prime Consector, as we're often reminded that Spahr lived there before Weepe did. Weepe is Spahr's successor in all but literal title.
Spahr waits until Weepe repeats the order to bring Lark and Phineas to refuse. At the moment where Weepe is at his most elevated and Spahr at his most diminished, when they are such extreme ends in the hierarchy, it is to Weepe that Spahr says, finally, "No."
As Prime Consector, Spahr was ideologically (though not materially) the truest manifestation of Valor. A Consector's job is to hunt, to pursue those who have escaped the Trust and restore them to the Trust. At this point, Weepe is all that is left of the Trust, its only manifestation, and all he does now is hunt Lark and those who aid her, to rebalance and to restore what is felt lost.
As funny as it is that Spahr is here at the end as the only one who isn't a protagonist, it makes so much sense that he is here in the confrontation against Weepe. He has to be. They're foils to one another, one of their many. Their actions have deeply entangled themselves in one another's arc. Over the course of the story, very slowly, there's been a changing of places between Weepe and Spahr.
Of course Spahr is here too. He was a razor's edge from being the one bearing down on that cabin. He was very, terrifyingly close to being on Weepe's side of the door.

TWISTED WONDERLAND: MAFIA AU
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overview:
Night Raven City.
A beautifully rotten city, ruled by crime and all the bad things within the world. Where the government and police are merely pawns to the real owners of this horrid city.
NRC is divided into seven mafias. Seven mafias that operate in different parts of the city and need each other to maintain balance. There are few places in which the seven don't rule, and you happen to live within the said place. Which is known as The Ramshackle. Home too many that want nothing to do with the powerful groups. And one rule within the Damshackles is, "Do not stay out beyond midnight." Nothing good happens after the clock chimes 12.
Tumblr media
Mafia Heartslabyul:
Heartslabyul, also know as the Queendom of Roses, is strict and as long as laws and rules are followed, you wouldn't even believe that you were within mafia territory. There's rarely crime's rarely crime, and the mafia doesn't bother the people within its territory unless said people are up to no good. Which causes a public showing of punishment, to deter others from crossing the Rose-Red Mafia.
Directly in control of healthcare and portions of the Law. All Hospitals must pay the H.M [Heartslabyul Mafia] taxes and go through them before working with anyone that could want to work against the mafia. As well as portions of the law are decided by people that are tied to the crimson group. Most simply pay what's owed and follow the strict rules within his district, unless you don't, which is like signing your own death certificate. Next thing you know, you'll find your head not attached to your neck.
༺❘✦Boss [Godfather]: Riddle Rosehearts
Title: Red-Rose Tyrant
Age: 22
The Boss is the head of the family, usually reigning as a dictator, sometimes called the Don or "Godfather". The boss receives a cut of every operation. Operations are taken on by every member of the family.
The Heartslabyul Mafia works similarly to a Kingdom, with the next boss being chosen from birth. Passed down from his mother, then from her mother. Riddle is the first son after nearly 50 years of being run by women. He's seen as hot- headed when mad, but also extremely reliable. Placing the concern of his people first.
══════
✦Underboss: Cater Diamond
Title: Tyrant's Lap Dog
Age: 23
The Underboss, usually appointed by the boss, is the second in command of the family. The underboss often runs the day-to-day responsibilities of the family or oversees its most lucrative rackets. He usually gets a percentage of the family's income from the boss's cut. The underboss is usually first in line to become acting boss if the boss is imprisoned, and is also frequently seen as a logical successor.
Cater Diamond was chosen by Riddle's mother to be his Underboss, and he has kept that position since Riddle has deemed him reliable enough to stay. Cater is seen as the only real person within the Mafia, and he's persuasive.
✦Consigliere: Trey Clover
Title: Tyrant's Right-Hand
Age: 24
The consigliere is an advisor to the family and is sometimes seen as the boss's "right-hand man". He is used as a mediator of disputes and often acts as a representative or aide for the family in meetings with other families, rival criminal organizations, and important business associates. In practice, the consigliere is normally the third-ranking member of the administration of a family and was traditionally a senior member carrying the utmost respect of the family and is deeply familiar with the inner workings of the organization. A boss will often appoint a trusted close friend or personal advisor as his official consigliere.
Trey Clover has been friends with Riddle since childhood, as well as he's family has been involved with the Heartslabyul mafia for generations, which makes them basically family. Trey is extremely reliable and everyone within Heartslabyul view him as family, with his kind appearance.
✦Caporegime [Capo]: Deuce Spade
Title: Tyrant's Guard Dog
Age: 19
A caporegime (also captain or skipper) is in charge of a crew, a group of soldiers who report directly to him. Each crew usually contains 10-20 soldiers and many more associates. A capo is appointed by the boss and reports to him or the underboss. A captain gives a percentage of his (and his underlings') earnings to the boss and is also responsible for any tasks assigned, including murder.
Deuce Spade was brought into the Mafia due to him messing with the wrong crowd and angering Riddle, so in order to not die, he pledged his loyalty. Over time climbing up the ranks from soldier to a Capo within 2 years. Many are conflicted with Deuce's sudden joining, but it isn't look down upon to join the Heartslabyul Mafia.
✦Associate: Ace Trappola
Title: Tyrant's Ace Card
Age: 19
An associate is not a member of the Mafia but works for a crime family nonetheless. Associates can include a wide range of people who work for the family. An associate can have a wide range of duties, from virtually carrying out the same duties as a soldier to being a simple errand boy.
Due to his father's business, Ace basically grew up running errands for the Mafia, and that hasn't changed. He works with his brother and has slightly closer ties to the Mafia due to his friendship with Deuce.
══════ ♡ ════════════ ♡ ══════
Mafia SavannaClaw:
SavannaClaw District is damn near lawless and follows the rules of their mafia and the mafia alone. The Government and Police are basically useless. They represent the wild, with a lot of natural landscape, yet believe heavily in the idea of keeping women and children safe. Majority of the SavannaClaw mafia is made up of women. Crime happens often within their territory but is often handled with right away by their own civilians. The women of SavannaClaw don't involve themselves with average crime and hold a lot of power throughout all seven territories. No one dares to prevent them from getting justice.
SavannaClaw is directly in control of food resources and recreational places, such as parks, zoos, and nature parks. All stores and recreational places go to him directly and must pay the S.M taxes, as well as any other Mafias must pay S.M unless they have special permissions. SavannaClaw prides themselves on being fair and non-discriminatory. As long as you are respectful to them, if not, you'll find yourself within the lion's den.
༺❘✦Boss [Godfather]: Leona Kingscholar
Title: King of Beasts
Age: 26
The Boss is the head of the family, usually reigning as a dictator, sometimes called the Don or "Godfather". The boss receives a cut of every operation. Operations are taken on by every member of the family.
Another Mafia that works similarly to a Kingdom, but also follows the circle of life. Issues that happen within the district of SavannaClaw will be solved by those who live within SavannaClaw. Many retreat there for safety, even despite its dog-eats-dog world.
══════
✦Underboss: Ruggie Bucchi
Title: Heart of SavannaClaw
Ruggie also acts as both Underboss and Consigliere, due to Leona wanting no one else as his Consigliere, which gives Ruggie many jobs to take care of, but also an extremely reliable part within SavannaClaw. Some say before Ruggie, Leona had a Consigliere, who was a different man, a huntsman, only for said man to leave Leona for another Mafia.
✦Caporegime [Capo]: Jack Howl
Title: Lion's Blood Hound
Jack Howl purposely chose to join Leona's mafia, after leaving Pomefiore once the current Mafia Leader took over. He enjoys the real atmosphere and enjoys the freeing atmosphere that Pomefiore couldn't grant.
══════ ♡ ════════════ ♡ ══════
Mafia Octavinelle:
Octavinelle is one of the most dangerous parts of the city. Violence and crimes at all times, there are truly 2 parts to Octavinelle. Uptown and Downtown. Uptown is where the richest and wealthiest are, where the best restaurants are, the best stores, and the best everything. If you have the money and style, you can live the best life within Octavinelle.
Downtown Octavinelle is the exact opposite, dirty and grungy, the worse of the worse and the Mafia will simply turn a blind eye. Crimes happen often and no one solves them. If you're dead, then you're dead. Better luck next time. This Mafia is truly ruthless and isn't for the faint of heart. The police within its territory is as dangerous as the mafia, often paid to simply slack around, not to do their job.
Octavinelle gets most of its profit from restaurants, and stores, as well as making deals luring people into debt. His deals are super influential that not even the other six mafia bosses can intervene, except to tell others to be completely wary of him. There is no true honor code, aside from written agreements. Break his deal, and you'd possibly find yourself drowning.
༺❘✦Boss [Godfather]: Azul Ashengrotto
Title: Merchant of the Deep
Age: 23
The Boss is the head of the family, usually reigning as a dictator, sometimes called the Don or "Godfather". The boss receives a cut of every operation. Operations are taken on by every member of the family.
One can view Octavinelle as a large capitalistic corporation, and Azul takes full advantage of his people without any trouble. He continues to try to expand his territory and plans to have Ramshackle under his jurisdiction.
══════
✦Underboss: Jade Leech
Title: Calm-Headed Sadist
Jade has also taken control of the position of Consigliere for his own liking and is quite busy. Seen almost all the time in all places. Yet he isn't loved, he's absolutely feared. If you see Jade Leech around you, it's better to simply pray that he isn't there for you.
✦Caporegime [Capo]: Floyd Leech
Title: Sadistic Eel
Age: 23
A caporegime (also captain or skipper) is in charge of a crew, a group of soldiers who report directly to him. Each crew usually contains 10-20 soldiers and many more associates. A capo is appointed by the boss and reports to him or the underboss. A captain gives a percentage of his (and his underlings') earnings to the boss and is also responsible for any tasks assigned, including murder.
Floyd is almost as equally disliked as Jade. He's known for his aggressiveness and is often in charge of any major incidents that involve murder. It's best that if you see him, to walk the other way and look boring enough that he'll leave you alone.
══════ ♡ ════════════ ♡ ══════
Mafia Scarabia:
The 2nd most violent district, after the new Mafia Boss, became in charge. Scarabia, also known as Scalding Sands, is beautiful in the land, and the people are genuinely sweet and kind, yet the violence is never checked, due to said kindness. Scalding Sands is also one of the largest district. The first largest SavannaClaw, aka the Sunset Savanna, 2nd is Octavinelle, aka the Coral Sea, and 3rd is Scalding Sands. This is an extremely rich mafia group, one of the largest due to its economy.
Scarabia gains profit from the selling of seasonings, oil, and rare minerals. Which gives Scarabia the nickname, The land of Gold. The Scarabia Mafia is tied closely to the Government, influencing them directly. Those that outright disrespect Scarabia, this will definitely leave you stranded in the desert.
༺❘✦Boss [Godfather]: Kalim Al-Asim
Title: Silly Sultan
Age: 22
The Boss is the head of the family, usually reigning as a dictator, sometimes called the Don or "Godfather". The boss receives a cut of every operation. Operations are taken on by every member of the family.
Kalim was appointed by his father and is generous and kind, which is the primary cause for the heightened crimes and violence, due to his blind optimism and clear unawareness of the suffering of his people.
══════
✦Underboss: Jamil Viper
Title: Level-Head Right-Hand
Age: 22
The Underboss, usually appointed by the boss, is the second in command of the family. The underboss often runs the day-to-day responsibilities of the family or oversees its most lucrative rackets. He usually gets a percentage of the family's income from the boss's cut. The underboss is usually first in line to become acting boss if the boss is imprisoned, and is also frequently seen as a logical successor.
Jamil, in some circles, is seen as the true Boss of Scarabia, with his level- headedness and trying to actually help Scarabia. Though many more are loyal to Kalim. Some say that Jamil is a snake hidden, waiting for the best moment to strike.
══════ ♡ ════════════ ♡ ══════
Mafia Pomefiore:
Pomefiore, once known as the Shaftlands, the Entertainment District, is filled to the brim with Models, Actors, and anyone that wants to be a star, famous, and beloved. This is the best district to live in if you want forever entertainment, even though it's extremely dangerous and fake. Following strict rules, especially if you want to succeed. This industry is cutthroat and not just anyone can be famous, especially since the Mafia controls the media. During the day it's a picturesque aesthetic, the same as the night sites. But if you're simply the average person, it's dangerous. Many escaped the tyrannical rule of the Pomefiore Mafia.
Pomefiore is in charge of NRC's entertainment and tourism, and NRC relies heavily on it, bringing in large amounts of the city's money. Pomefiore is one of the most aesthetically pleasing Mafia, that is a constant presence, that in some parts, seen as an honor to be graced by the mafia, in others, is a complete nightmare that could leave you poisoned.
༺❘✦Boss [Godfather]: Vil Schoenheit
Title: The Fairest
Age: 24
The Boss is the head of the family, usually reigning as a dictator, sometimes called the Don or "Godfather". The boss receives a cut of every operation. Operations are taken on by every member of the family.
Vil rose to power due to his fast popularity, taking over Pomefiore single- handedly and modeling the District into his own. Many love him, while others are scared of him and ran to escape.
══════
✦Underboss: Rook Hunt
Title: The Queen's Hunter
Age: 24
The Underboss, usually appointed by the boss, is the second in command of the family. The underboss often runs the day-to-day responsibilities of the family or oversees its most lucrative rackets. He usually gets a percentage of the family's income from the boss's cut. The underboss is usually first in line to become acting boss if the boss is imprisoned, and is also frequently seen as a logical successor.
Rook Hunt, at one point, worked for the Mafia Boss of SavannaClaw, before the two Mafia Leaders clashed and Rook chose Vil over SavannaClaw, taking the position as Vil's Underboss and Consigliere. Many view Rook as weird and often avoid him as a whole. If you ever see Rook, that will absolutely be your last time alive.
✦Caporegime [Capo]: Epel Felmier
Title: Pretty Boy
Epel was forced into the Mafia after causing some trouble with a group of kids. Vil liked the way Epel looked and forced him to train and work to become his capo. Epel hates it and actively disrespects him.
══════ ♡ ════════════ ♡ ══════
Mafia Ignihyde:
No one knows much about the Ignihyde District, aka the Underworld. It is genuinely a ghost town during the day, and anyone you do see immediately runs. The city is operated by machines until the sun sets and Ignihyde is alive. With events and parties, with stores open and bright lights. Unlike the foggy day, where you can barely see 3 feet in front of you. Violence is extremely rare, due to the fear of getting chased by Ignihyde Mafia's robot dogs, which are extremely violent, and most people that interact with the dogs don't come out alive.
The majority of Ignihyde's income comes from the selling of technology and weapons. From security systems to machine guns. There is no project too difficult to complete if the amount of money is high enough. Ignihyde, though, is extremely protective of their machines and if you're caught tampering with one, it will lead you 6 feet under.
༺❘✦Boss [Godfather]: Idia Shroud
Title: King of Underworld
Age: 23
The Boss is the head of the family, usually reigning as a dictator, sometimes called the Don or "Godfather". The boss receives a cut of every operation. Operations are taken on by every member of the family.
Idia was chosen by his parents and has been boss for as long as anyone could remember, though most have never seen what he looks like. Many believe that they have to be worthy enough to look upon him. They wouldn't believe that he's a huge, anxious introvert.
══════
✦Underboss: Ortho Shroud
Title: Sibling of the King
Age: 16?
The Underboss, usually appointed by the boss, is the second in command of the family. The underboss often runs the day-to-day responsibilities of the family or oversees its most lucrative rackets. He usually gets a percentage of the family's income from the boss's cut. The underboss is usually first in line to become acting boss if the boss is imprisoned, and is also frequently seen as a logical successor.
One of the youngest within the Mafia to have such a powerful position. He's both the Underboss and Consigliere and is constantly seen running any errands, big or small. Ortho is extremely friendly, yet if you disrespect Idia, you disrespect him. So, any ill speaking of Idia ends with your soul in the afterlife.
══════ ♡ ════════════ ♡ ══════
Mafia Diasomnia:
Diasomnia District, aka Briar Valley, is the quietest and often forgotten, even though it has the most influential power. Many don't ever leave the Diasomnia District and never interact with the Mafia, so it's an honor seeing the Mafia in person. Similar to Heartslabyul, which Diasomnia is inspired by, so has various similarities to, it's an honor to be within the Diasomnia Mafia, and many love their existence. It's orderly and most of the people within Diasomnia have amazing influence and power. Little to none chaos or violence occurs, and is one of the safest districts, with slight problems due to discrimination.
Diasomnia has major control over everything and is super influential. Their money comes from everywhere and anyone, even if that means doing unsavory things. No one dares to talk bad about the Diasomnia mafia, lest you wanna be put into an endless sleep.
༺❘✦Boss [Godfather]: Malleus Draconia
Title: King of Briar Valley
Age: 28
The Boss is the head of the family, usually reigning as a dictator, sometimes called the Don or "Godfather". The boss receives a cut of every operation. Operations are taken on by every member of the family.
No one has ever seen Malleus but knows of his strength within the Briar Valley, which is the for the Diasomnia District. Everyone fears, yet absolutely cherish him and never wants his reign to end.
══════
✦Underboss: Silver
Title: Sleeping Knight
Age: 22
The Underboss, usually appointed by the boss, is the second in command of the family. The underboss often runs the day-to-day responsibilities of the family or oversees its most lucrative rackets. He usually gets a percentage of the family's income from the boss's cut. The underboss is usually first in line to become acting boss if the boss is imprisoned, and is also frequently seen as a logical successor.
Silver is unique out of the Mafia. No one knows where he came from, nor why he's important enough to be underboss, but he is. Having been raised to someday take the position.
✦Consigliere: Lilia Vanrouge
Title: General
Age: 32
The consigliere is an advisor to the family and is sometimes seen as the boss's "right-hand man". He is used as a mediator of disputes and often acts as a representative or aide for the family in meetings with other families, rival criminal organizations, and important business associates. In practice, the consigliere is normally the third-ranking member of the administration of a family and was traditionally a senior member carrying the utmost respect of the family and is deeply familiar with the inner workings of the organization. A boss will often appoint a trusted close friend or personal advisor as his official consigliere.
Lilia is scary. Frightening. Yet acts like that of a child. He's weird and his behavior is odd. Most remember him to have a more serious appearance, than the boyish one he has now, which confuses many.
✦Caporegime [Capo]: Sebek Zigvolt
Title: Cap' Croc, Yapping Crocodile, & Most Loyal Knight
His title, Yapping Crocodile was created by Leona from SavannaClaw, due to his constant yelling in defense of Malleus, which stuck with him as he rose the ranks to Capo. Silver calls him Cap' Croc, cause it's also funny. Sebek is like any other member of the Diasomnia Mafia, is to prove himself.
Tumblr media
Information:
Magic exists, yet is rarely used. Outdated. And in some places, frowned upon. The existence of beastman, fae, and merpeople, as well as humans still exists. Immorality is still a thing—aswell as overblots. Mafia Leaders are still the only ones who use magic on a regular bases.
Each of the mafia districts had an original name. For example, The Heartslabyul District, but their district was originally named Queendom of Roses. This is due to the overarching power that the Mafia holds, that each district is named after the Mafia instead of its original Name. They are still identified as they're old names on maps, but they're lost to those inside the Districts, depending on their mafia.
Ramshackle isn't considered a district, even though it's big enough to be one, but is rather large and runs on its own, and is located on the outskirts of NRC. Ramshackle isn't under the control of any Mafia.
All 7 districts meet surround a circle of NRC, where the Government is mainly based as well as those rich that can afford to be outside of the Mafia but are still reliant upon them.
Anyone can visit different districts, though many choose not to unless they have written documents that allow you within other districts, as well as paying a small fee. Some Districts are harder to get into than others.
For example, SavannaClaw requires valid documents and as long as they're valid and you carry them with you at all times, you're completely safe and welcome. But if you want to go to Octavinelle and you don't live there, you're required to pay a fee of nearly 50 dollars ~ 100 thaumarks to simply visit, and if you want to leave, it requires months' notice. In some districts, it's better to stay than to try to leave.
Not all districts get along, though some are more respected than others.
For example, Pomefiore is one of the first and longest existing mafias within NRC, with Heartslabyul the second longest, having a deeply rooted influence that lasts generations. So Pomefiore and Heartslabyul highly respect each other.
Rivalries Exist. Due to the participation in sports, Each District has its own sports teams that compete with each other and the best players move on and can join NRC's main team. Though these competitions are extremely political and determine various things.
Tumblr media
NRC Government:
Controlled by Dire Crowley, who decided years ago that instead of continuous Mafia and Gang wars, they would merely allow the Mafia certain territories and districts in order to keep the peace and it has been that way since. Though many view him as unreliable and a coward, Crowley has prevented the deaths of many, to the best of his abilities, limiting the spread of the seven mafias. Forcing them to act only within their district and stopping them from spreading to other cities.
RSA Heroes:
RSA is a neighboring city that's been directly impacted by NRC's growing problem. The RSA Heroes are a group of people that actively fight against the Mafias, and aid those that want to escape NRC, which has gained the popularity of those within Ramshackle and has caused problems for the seven mafias. Some mafias which that personally want to get rid of the Ramshackles and force them to live within the Districts.
Noble Bell City:
An equally corrupt far-off city, that often meets with the mafia leaders of NRC, yet views them as brash. NBC isn't different from NRC, except for their current governor, Rollo Flamm, who controls all of NBC, which makes it a toxic and dangerous city. Has attempted to lure Ramshackle and make it part of NBC, which angered Diasomnia.
The Ramshackle District:
This is where you live. There's a rather healthy community of people helping people, and even if it's old and dirty, you love it. You live here with your cat, Grim, who you found digging in your dumpster. You work a simple job, running different errands, that often have you visiting multiple different districts, yet never once have you run into the Mafia. Simply cause you follow one rule, "Do stay out beyond midnight."
Tumblr media
Now, you love your home within the Ramshackle, your lil hovel, and your small garden with your cat. You love it, truly you do. You love your neighbors, and you love the festivals that the Ramshackle holds. You love it all.
Your leather satchel hangs off your hip, filled to the brim with different letters and papers from your most recent trip. You just returned from Scarabia, having a good easy delivery for the old man that lives up the street, and after a long day, you're finally home. You push past the old rickety iron gate, and up the stone pathway, eyes searching along for your familiar feline friend. He usually waits for you.
Hopping the old creaky steps, until you stop right in front of a card. Perfectly placed with gold decor. 'For Ramschackle's Perfect. You're invited to Crowley Hall' written directly on the front. Ramshackle's Perfect was only a joke type name among the people that lived in, said Ramshackle. Who else would call you that?
You pick up the letter, glancing around the porch, before slipping inside your home, and closing the door behind you. Crowley Hall, also known as the Grand Dinner Hall, a place where all important events took place, especially the meeting of all seven mafia leaders. Why would someone invite you with no other information? You flip the card, there's nothing else. Your shoulders slump, you shouldn't go. Yet, you stare at the words once again. It could be important or lead to trouble for the other people of Ramshackle. Your eyes drift over to your clock. It was only 7 pm.
You had five hours.
You glance back at the thick fancy card. Five hours before 12. You feel a familiar purr, and glance down at your cat, Grim rubbing against your legs. Five hours, and well, as long as you're back before midnight. You'll be fine.
Right?

I went to the library this afternoon, intending to get a study room and do some work on the novel, but I got distracted and ended up spending the two hours working on a short story instead.
Georgie has said that Michaelis hired her after she rescued his friend's child from a kidnapping, and it was suggested to me recently that the friend could be Oliver McAllister, Michaelis's old school mate from Pirates of the Riviera. I was skeptical because the timing didn't quite work out, but I couldn't stop thinking about the idea, so I decided to try making it work.
And let me tell you, these messy bitches.
In 2015, Michaelis is deep in his Kingbot 3000 phase so he doesn't have to Have Feelings, and Gregory has coerced him into taking a vacation by threatening a coup. Meanwhile, Olly is fresh from his second divorce, from a woman who just tried to kidnap their child. Georgie is the most together person in the room and she's an unemployed twentysomething who just beat three men unconscious to prevent said kidnapping.
And the most amusing part to me is that because of how I set it up, Michaelis is just trying to be friendly but inadvertently keeps coming across like he's trying to seduce Georgie. Which also makes Georgie joking about trying to marry him for his money in Royals/Ramblers even funnier.
"Ma'am, the police would like to take a statement," Lael said to Georgie.
"I can have Lael find you a lawyer if you want," Michaelis added. She gave him a sardonic look.
"All right, let's get it over with," she sighed. "There goes my visit to the Musee D'Orsay."
"We'll give you the room. Olly, why don't you go in with your boy, so the police can speak with you if needed. Lael and I will be at the cafe next door when you've finished."
Georgie nodded, but he stopped as he passed her and put a hand on her arm.
"Come see us when you're done," he said quietly, ducking his head so the police at the doorway couldn't see their faces. "And cancel your job interview in London."
"Excuse me?" she asked.
"Stay in Paris. You can see the museum this weekend. The palace will cover your lodging and food."
"I...don't want to offend," she said slowly, "but I'm not -- "
"I'm not flirting with you," he said, realizing belatedly how it might seem to her, and taking his hand from her arm. She looked faintly relieved. "I'm going to spend the time you're giving a statement assembling a job offer for you with my security office. Any young woman who can spot a kidnapping before it happens and soundly beat three grown men should not be leaving Askazer-Shivadlakia to do a job she hates in London. Now, regardless of that, and I say this as a concerned friend, not as king or employer: be honest and helpful with the police, but...economical."
"Just the facts?" she asked.
"Exactly." He gave her an approving nod and followed Lael out. They were silent in the hallway and lobby, until they stepped out into the street and Lael exhaled.
"That was impressive," he said. "Young lady has a great right hook."
"She's certainly very alert," Michaelis agreed.
"It's been a long time since I've seen someone throw a punch like that."
"Say it and you're fired," Michaelis said good-naturedly. He'd known Lael since the head of security had been a young palace aide during Michaelis's first days as king -- if still years older than the king himself -- and he knew what was coming.
"Not since our last trip to Galia," Lael said, voice full of relish. "That time a young hothead punched Duke Tomas in the face."
"Utterly fired. I've found your replacement. I'm putting you out to pasture with no pension."
"You think she'd make a good successor to me?" Lael asked. He was joking but, simultaneously, he was not -- they were both getting older, and Lael was as aware as Michaelis that when a new king was elected in a few years, whoever it was, they would need someone younger, someone who could more easily keep up with them.
"You tell me," Michaelis said. "You're the expert."
"Oh, I've been fired, clearly my opinion isn't wanted," Lael said, as they settled into a table at the cafe, Lael with his back to the wall, eyes always scanning behind Michaelis. There had never, at least as far as Michaelis knew, been an attempt on his life, but he'd become used to never getting direct eye contact in public from the man whose job it was, after all, to watch his back.
"Fine, I withdraw your firing. I suspect purely on her ability to sass me, she is your equal if not your better," he added, as the waitress approached. He ordered coffee and pastries briskly, then turned back to Lael.
"Well, it's difficult to tell on two minutes' acquaintance," Lael replied, "but actions do speak louder than words."
"Agreed. Perhaps a contingent offer? She has a law degree; she could likely earn more than we could offer her for a job like yours, but I think she's looking for the right job, not the right pay. Say three months of probation with guaranteed six months of pay to ensure she takes it, and a firm permanent offer at the end if you approve? Conditions non-negotiable but a bit of wiggle room in the salary, I think."
Lael considered it, then nodded. "I suppose it's paranoia to imagine she might have arranged all this to get into the Palace employ."
"As what, a spy? I love a thriller novel, Lael, but they are fiction," Michaelis replied, amused.

As I've been putting together a timeline for fic purposes I have been going back over dialogue and cutscenes for a LOT of old quests--all of ARR especially kind of blurs together in my head so I've needed a refresher to remember the order things happened in, and something jumps out at me
and that's that Urianger getting drawn in by Elidibus and deciding to act alone without telling any of the Scions what he's doing, in addition to coming not long after Moenbryda's death, also corresponds pretty directly to Minfilia not being around to check in with him anymore.
I think it's evident in ARR how much Urianger looks to Minfilia, how much he respects her and how much trust he places in her as a leader. As the Antecedent she is in many ways Louisoix's successor; she's the glue that's holding together these two groups with aligned goals but pretty different reasons for being there, Louisoix's archon book club and Minfilia's echo support group. After the Scions move to the Rising Stones and Urianger stays at the Waking Sands as its caretaker, more than ever it's probably Minfilia who is keeping him in the loop.
And then one day she's just gone. And Urianger is still in touch with the Warrior of Light and Alphinaud and Tataru as he aids in the search for the missing Scions... but his anchor is missing. The one person he might have turned to is now beyond his reach. And in a way, he still does turn to her; it is Minfilia on whom his plan ultimately hinges, once he knows she has been chosen as Hydaelyn's intermediary. But any chance to consult with her before he undertakes all his shadowy maneuvering is denied him.
I just wonder how differently things would have gone for him, had he not lost her too.

I saw a couple tags with king Halt AU and I am interested now 👀 (if you need someone to blab to about this)
okay. listen. i was rereading the early years and halt rescues duncan but refuses to call him highness and duncan gets mad, the canon dialogue is pretty much just,
halt: you-
duncan: YOUR HIGHNESS
halt : i preffer to be called halt, actually
(this is the base idea: this scene is doubly funny if halt were also crown prince)
so picture halt swimming back to shore after ferris tries to kill him and deciding actually he doesn't want this idiot in charge of his country.
halt has had about four years of ranger training on top of royal battleschool at this point and ships ferris of to the countryside, names Caitlyn as his successor to the throne and convinces his father that he should aide araluen (read: the rangers who kept pritchard informed) for diplomacy reasons.
his father thinks this will be a good lesson in war craft for the crown prince and sends him on his way.
halt and Crowley meet in the inn just like in canon while pritchard, who travelled with halt to araluen, makes his way to berrigan who was his main contact and then the plot kicks off (canon slightly to the left) halt is still halt but with the full authority of the clonmel crown behind him. he just doesn't tell people. surely this won't result in any silly situations.
big change might be that daniel, who still dies, asks halt to look for his wife, who is heavily pregnant and halt goes to find her, but presented with a baby who has no living relatives he knows of he just takes baby will and disappears him to Hibernia? Caitlyn loves her nephew. halt insist that will is not his son. will is absolutely his son and no one will be convinced otherwise.
halts father/ the king of clonmel declares Will fourth in line to the throne bc what else are you supposed to do when your heir goes to fight a war for eighteen months and returns with a baby. the king isn't an idiot, halt.
i want at least one scene where an invitation is extended to the Hibernian kings for princess Cassandras first birthday and Caitlyn shows up to represent clonmel and bonds with crowley bc they have a similar sense of humour (compatible with halt). crowley refers to halt only by "Arratay" and Caitlyn only by "my brother". they think the two should meet though crowley thinks halt doesn't know how to behave in the presence of royalty.
this would be even funnier if it was cralt/craltine (geometrically accurate love triangle my beloved) bc crowley is fawning over halt and Caitlyn unknowingly sets them up by encouraging crowley to tell his friend how he feels.
at least one scene would be halt and crowley visiting Crowleys family which is big and loud. halt is immediately a favourite of Crowleys kid sister who thinks he is the funniest person who ever lived. halt is stumped by this
the rangers are also 100% the queerest group of people in the entire country. berrigan and Leander are established and not subtle about it. at least one person is only referred to by ranger, never by any pronouns. this is never remarked upon.
the problem im still trying to figure out is how I can merge canon post TEY. halt returns to clonmel bc he has to check on his family and also bc, yk, the infant he now cares for and virtually disappears from araluen. crowley and pauline are upset bc they dont know what happened. this would be even funnier if this was craltine and they just had a highly emotional moment and then the final battle happens and suddenly halt is gone and no one knows where.
if this was really cracky they would tag along as security/diplomacy detail for duncan when he is invited to halts coronation but then again, we're not catholic so I might as well. could be fun
feel free to add anything you might find funny/devastating etc.

Guys I'm thinking about Shadow Milk again. Unlike this post, I'm going to go into a lot of off-the-wall theories with little to no explanation other than it sounds cool as Hell.
Shadow Milk pre-deceit must have held so much weight on his shoulders. To be the sole wielder of knowledge, he'd know the strengths of lying to others more than anyone else. And since he's the holder of it, no one would question him if he lied on purpose. (This point is used against PV in the future.)
Bringing something specific that I find fascinating- it's SM's connection to the Dark Side of the Moon. This means that he has a connection to Dark Moon Magic. For those who don't know or need a refresher, Dark Moon Magic is something that both White Lily and Pure Vanilla have delved into before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My theory is that something related to this forbidden form of magic messed with a pre-corrupt SM's head and aided in molding him into a beast of deceit. Perhaps it showed him truths that he was not prepared to see? Maybe it scrambled up what the truth really was by making him a paranoid mess from the overwhelming power? In any case, I have a feeling that this is one of the reasons for what happened to the Beasts- but particularly SM, since we don't know enough about the others to deduce much. (Though I personally like to believe that SM was shown something of his friends suffering like some form of prediction and went on to look further into Dark Moon Magic in order to find a way to prevent this.)
Bringing back the connection to Pure Vanilla, SM actively attempts to get in his head. I feel like this is because SM himself had to deal with that nagging sensation before and after his corruption due to Dark Moon Magic, and thusly knows how to do such properly. He wants to drag PV into the same thing that he was dragged into, wanting his forced successor to suffer with some kind of poetic justice. Another connection between the two is PV was the first of his friends to reawaken, just as SM was the first beast to escape the tree.
Side note, I just wish to bring up that one of PV's nightmarish images he had to endure was the ancients being strung up similar to how he and his friends were strung up towards the end of Beast Yeast. I made this connection while doing research on PV's end of things and it stuck with me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TL;DR - Thinking about Shadow Milk's past and how it could parallel Pure Vanilla is super fun to think about. SM having some relation to Dark Moon Magic and how haunting that magic seems to be for those that research it- how it leads to so much misfortune- makes me think that it had something to do with SM's corruption. Thank you for coming to my TEd Talk

What If demon Male ( Y/N ) have a personality like fluttershy ( from My little pony ).
Fluttershy love animals but scare of people plus super shy to the other people.
But when they angry is quite surprising cuz it's really rare to happen.
"So how well The Monkey king react"
I love my little pony my childhood!!!🤩🥰🤯
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Lmk Wukong) You were so adorable. He remembered clear as day the first time you guys met. You were red as a cherry Holding A baby bunny in your arms. He quickly realized you were in a threat at all. In fact, he was like What he was seeing and wanted to know what what else you got." Every day he comes to make his move with you. And every day you would squeak and look like a cherry. You were also the kindest person Heck, the kindest demon ever met. You are always worried about him and his injuries taking care of him and making sure He eats and drinks a lot of water and tea. You were also very soft-spoken and always talked to him in a low tone. But you also know when to be firm with him. When he gets to reckless, and that's when he'll listen to you sometimes. But 1 day MK and the rest got into a fight with some D. M star attacking the city again, but well, one of them almost stepped on Moe. The cat iswhen you got involved
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and you came and swinging everybody's without there with jaws drop. Well , except for wukong , who had hearts in his eyes and dopey expression on his face He received severe brainstorming a way to repay you for protecting him, his successor and his friends, Although the way he's planning to do it won't be innocent at all. When you finally calmed down and the demons were defeated. You apologize to everyone about your outbursts, but MK and Mei We're astonished and fan girling all over the damn place with how awesome you were and how impressive your strength was. Later that day, I will come whispered something to you and flew off. So flower fruit mountain, what he said, i'm leaving that up to you
Tumblr media
(NR Wukong) Oh my gosh, your cuteness is what constantly turns him on. He remembered the first time I met you. You were so gentle with him, and kindness seems to be your biggest quality. And he would find you around taking care of the city's stray animals, whether it'd be wrapping up their wounds or feeding them or sometimes just sitting on the curb and petting them. You are a very gentle soul, but you had the appearance of a gorilla who can snap anyone like a twig. Man, he had to get you before somebody else. Does so he officially asked you out, and that's when your relationship began. And 1 day, a bunch of thug demons were harassing some downtown people. But what pissed you off was the fact that they almost stepped on a rat. While a reckless sweet bothering the children too, that's when you snapped and lost all your reason
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wow, everybody knows you really don't f*** around, do you? Especially with people's lives. And you may have forever captured the heart of a certain monkey King, who is having not so pure thoughts about you and whatever you're doing right now. He wonders if he can get you with that upset with him. You will destroy him like that in bed. When you finally calm down and make sure all of the kids and pets were all right , you went over to apologize to Wukong about ruining your outing together, but it appears. He was way into it more than you thought. And it's beckoning you to follow him home so you guys can work off that excess adrenaline.
Tumblr media
(MKR Wukong) You got to be kidding him. The monk has sent him to find the most dangerous creature in this part of the forest And ask him for his aid in the journey. He Did not expect to find a Hulking figure that speaks Like a baby and freaks out at the smallest sounds. And despite your huge figure, you look like you couldn't even squish a bug without running for someone to go kill it for where are you. The monk is really pissing him off now. I mean he does that a lot but this, this is not fair. But Despite Wukong Not taking you seriously at all You are still kind and respectful to him. Always greeting him with a good morning or a how are you Or have a good day even as you pet whatever random forest animal You find or has come to you. I guess your manners won him over a little bit but he still doesn't think too much of you until one day The Monk got kidnapped by some demons again and Wukong Went Save him with you following him pursued as to offer support for Hurt. And hurt the heat was it was That your boyfriend got hurt but Almost named a poor squirrel that Got caught in the cross fire and that's when you snapped
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everybody watched beat the ass of every demon that disrespected you and your friend. After a while, you walked past the dead bodies of the demons who kidnapped the monk and released him. You then reached your bloody hand towards the baby squirrel. That was caught in the crossfire. It was shaking and fear, but since that, you were no threat. You picked it up and whispered towards it as you were finally coming back to your original self. You turn to apologize to the Wukong to apologize for your outburst, but something was different about him. He was blushing. He was drooling a little bit, and there were deep red hearts in his eyes. As he stared at you with a dark expression. You were worried that you may have scared him. But with the way he was purring now. I think you did the exact opposite as he pulled you by your shirt. Your uncontrolled fury had flipped a switch in his brain. And now he wants in on whatever you got.
Tumblr media
(HIB Wukong) I feel he'll like your personality. You are a lot more patient than he is, that's for sure. And his Grouch moments don't seem to put you off. If anything, it motivates you to see what would make him feel better about the situations. So I guess he'll appreciate that. They also appreciate how you show Liuer how to be respectful and gentle to animals? And how you care very much for nature as well , and even provide for injured or Sick animals Until one day some stray demands were Hunting for animals and harassing the villagers When one of them almost hurt Silly Girl and a Butterfly That's when you snapped entirely you quickly grab silly girl and put her next to Liuer Before going absolutely insane on those demons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everybody's jaw dropped as they watched. You lay ways to all those demons that attacked the children and the animal. You finally calm down the second demons. Decided to run away from you, and you went back to your shy, soft-spoken self. As you apologize to everyone for your outburst. But everybody seemed to be cheering and impressed by your unusual. There was even a little mini party as a thanks for helping. When everybody went home, that's Wukong.Approach you. And then he was making a bunch of very steamy promises as he pulled you towards Cave.
Tumblr media
(Netflix Wukong) OMG You guys have the cutest relationship with anybody what he has ever seen. It is so adorable that people wanna throw up and be envious of what you guys have. You guys took forever to give a hug to the other with out Blushing on both ends. Don't even get me started on the First Kiss. It is so painfully cute. Your kindness was a big advantage on winning him over and a listening ear for him when he's having a bad day, and do you appreciate when you offer cuddles to distress. You were always there to offer him comfortand he appreciates that , but one day, you actually got to see the cause of his discomfort. Some demons Invaders were not taking him seriously at all. In fact, they were bullying him. Engranted, he was fighting more, but You yourself can hear his Stone Heart breaking from a bunch of miles from Here. And that's when you lost it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You had no problem striking the fear of God into those demons. I think some of them might be dead. But everybody saw what you can clearly do when provoked and enraged. The demons quickly retreat at knowing better than to try and stay and fight you. And everybody in the village stood there in shock before breaking out into a cheer's, and that's when you snapped out of it and turned back into your shy. Cherry soft spoken self Quickly apologizing for the outbursts to both the villagers. When you got back from the town square, you were ready to apologize to Wukong about your uncontrollable anger. Until he looked at you strangely. There was a blush on his face and hearts in his eyes ,He had never seen you like that before, How savaged how unhinged how, How sexy. He wants a taste of that rage in your body, and he's gonna get it now.

Since I’ve ended up filling the ranks of side characters with background NPCs and fleshing them out to the point of basically being original characters, I’ve been considering adding OCs with no basis in canon to the mix. I’m already halfway there by giving Katelyn’s unnamed brothers a story, so why not?
For example, members of noble households. Nursemaids and pages and groundskeepers and such.
Kenmur would have had at least one nursemaid when his old village was attacked who would have likely been with him at the time of the attack and therefore likely been the one first able to get baby Kenmur to some semblance of safety and possibly survived as a result. Pages were men or boys employed to be personal attendants to people of rank who might have also done chores and errands for the household or establishment they worked for, and each of the Ro’Meave brothers might have had a page around their own age growing up, Zane might even have the same page he had when he was young still on his service as an attendant when he’s grown. Meteli’s a pretty backwater and casual place, but a Lord’s household is still a Lord’s household and so the Zvahl family probably had a few servants who might have lived in or very near the household, a groundskeeper among them that I think Cadenza would have been close to and learned about flowers from.
There’s also a big thing about succession in MCD, so I’d need to add some heirs and apprentices to the Lords in the various villages, plus actually fill some of the villages we never see in canon. Nahakra needs an heir, so do the Neopolitan villages, I need to figure out Matataki’s whole situation and someone has to fill the void in Boboros’s leadership after Gene killed both the Lord and the heir and they also need a head guard.
I’ve been dabbling with how I’m handling the families of the main and supporting cast that we don’t see or hear about in canon too.
Zenix was an only child and his parents belonged to a sect that worshipped the Destroyer and he grew up worshipping Shad instead of Irene alongside the rest of their small settlement. The settlement was found and divided when he was about ten, and his parents raised him in seclusion where it was safe after that. All three of them died in a house fire Zenix set by accident when he was a teen, and after being brought back Zenix can’t remember much about them due to injuries sustained in the fire.
Nana has an absolutely massive family. In MyS she mentions being the seventh child of twelve. In her clan’s compound in Tu’la there’s the main branch of the clan which includes Nana and her siblings, their parents, a scattering of uncles and aunts and cousins, and any nieces or nephews she may have. Then there’s the vassal clans under them, at least one of which should be a clan of craftsmen so they don’t have to outsource their gear or clothing very often. They also have the servants of the household and possibly their families, any gladiators sponsored by the clan, tradesmen under contract to the clan, and possibly any orphans the household sponsors and trains to eventually make a contract with. There would also be aides and attendants and advisors. When I say massive family, I mean it.
Then we also have a few of the main and supporting cast where I completely fudge the canon. One of Cadenza’s bio parents is a Shadow Knight and that’s why Shadow Knights are always after her. Esmund and Xavier had an older sister, then Xavier had a wife and several kids that turned into the Ro’Meave line. Aaron had a brother who’s only a few years older than Jacob. Vylad has a slew of half-siblings across the continent. Travis has a twin who the Demon Warlock stole away to make his successor when they were young. Kiki and Brendan are estranged from their father and sister. Ein was the unnamed pup from the werewolf tribe near Brightport and was adopted by an older woman from the werewolf kingdom after being split from his tribe. Dante and Gene had a father who they never saw because he was always working, alongside their canon mom and uncle. Malachi has a whole line of indirect descendants because his parents had another kid after he was sent away, and they have old family stories where being turned into a ghost like their ancestor Malachi is what happens to bad kids. Enki and Kul’zak had two kids, one by adoption and the other by magickal means.
This isn’t even getting into my whole Seven Sinners of Virtue thing, which is basically the generation before the Divine Warriors if they were part of a cycle of people whose purpose is to keep the world spinning by whatever means necessary. There’s the Seven, the families, their enemies, and the gods who were worshipped before the Divine Faith came about.
This is. So Many Characters.

The Levate was your home. It had been assigned as your unruly fate far before you were even a fetus in your mother’s womb.
It was your destiny.
The tale commenced about two-hundred years prior, with your great grandmother. She was a mere lass—young, beautiful and most importantly educated girl. It was a rarity for its time. Initially, the men in her family, your family, were destined healers but your great grandmother’s father's bloodline was referred to as fragile and it was ‘cursed’ with just daughters.
One after another after another.
A couple of years passed before the men of the village realized that their people would only benefit in allowing the women of your family to become a part of the legacy and aid those in need. . Especially, the wives of the select few who were in need of assistance during childbirth, word had it women were growing uncomfortable in being presented with male assistance while they carried their babies for nearly nine months and then having inexperienced servants assisting during deliveries— numerous women left to neighboring villages which implemented the requirement of having qualified female only aids during their pregnancies and in their labor confinements.
After a rather hefty consensus the people of the town spoke and your family was granted their titles as former healers and reputable midwives.
Upon shadowing her nearly retired father and the accoucheuse from neighboring villages, your great grandmother learned the complexity of your modern medicament rapidly. She was very astute, stretching as far as the barriers of your society allowed her to reach. Truth was despite everything she was still a woman and was only allowed a speck of liberty—and one single mistake sent her down a bridle pathway of damnation for an eternity and her grave would be dug up by the Kim family.
The Kim’s were the most powerful family in the village, simulating the most vicious predators at the peak of the food chain. They were pythons while the rest of you were rodents. Their formidable force stemmed from their affluence leading them to soar like eagles in the expansive sky, high beyond the passing clouds—they were as close to royals as Hawkshead could attain.
Tumblr media
Your great grandmother had been called on by Viscountess Kim to service in the delivery of what would be their fifth child. They were hoping for a male to supply as an eventual successor after being consecutively burdened by a string of daughters. The task was seemingly simple as she already had a hefty resume in delivering babies day in and day out but this particular delivery was. . arduous. The pressure was immense, she knew there was little room for error, and despite the dozen pound weight dragging from her shoulder, she graced her mind with confidence; the assurance of her skills and began her duty as a midwife.
Things began as usual, the dimly lit birth chamber was crowded by servants as they serviced Viscountess Kim any and all of her absurd requests ranging from kneading her feet beyond comfort to fetching her intricate suppers that could only be found a whole town away. The room was aromatized with the soft scents of chamomile, her remedy for easing the nerves. That was all she could provide but of course, medicine then, wasn’t what it is now.
Her duty was to sit and wait. And then sit and wait some more—until baby Kim has decided it was finally time to meet the world.
From her place at the delivery stool her eyes roamed across the unblemished midnight sky. There were innumerable stars prancing around the black vastness accompanying the moon as they danced a soft tango together. Nights were serene; peaceful and she always found herself enthralled in it. The twinkling seams of the stars were dazzling yet there was no way she could look away. Initially, there was a brief silence amongst the emergent storm sweeping across the dormitory, she recalled screaming; frantic screams. In the beginning they were muffled, so far away, for a brief second she had thought Lord Kim was chopping off someone's head down the corridor—except, it wasn’t.
Lady Kim was beginning to hyperventilate, she broke out in sweats, and the lady maids were flailing their arms in the air calling your attention, their attempt at getting her to snap out of her trance.
“We need help,” she’d heard from one of the many nameless figures accompanying the Viscountess.
“Just give me some space,” she abandoned her spot near the window now sitting at the foot of the bed, “fetch me more linens.”
She was heaving, trembling, gasping for air and her screams could likely be heard by the Levate. Her forehead glistened, “I need him out of me,” her breathing was heavy, “I need him out.”
There was a cold bead of sweat rolling down her back but she remained in her position waiting for baby Kim, (hopefully, a boy), to greet you with bright chocolate eyes and raucous cries. You instructed her to push, and she complied. Again, you communicated the same and she did as told. She pushed harder and harder, until the fetal head crowned.
She almost sighed with relief.
Almost.
But the room was eerily still.
Baby Kim, the baby boy, was now in her hands but he was not weeping—his eyes were closed, and his skin was a shade of periwinkle.
He was not breathing.
“How is my baby?” Lady Kim asked.
But she stood, completely still, the tiny body of what was supposed to be a healthy scion laid in her arms, unmoving.
“How is he?” She asked once again.
Your great grandmother’s skin glimmered in the dim candle light as the sweat trickled down her forehead. She quickly walked the boy to the baby bassinet and laid him down.
“Is he OK?” her pleas to know rumbled in the inner walls of your ears, and all you could do was rummage through your brain for an answer on what to do—this had never happened before. She’d always delivered healthy babies, always.
How could this happen? She had not pulled too hard, the mother seemed in good health. . What evil lurked in the shadows to drag this baby away from its mother before she even has the chance to hold him in her arms?
Lady Kim sat up on her elbows—her eyes were mimicking the sparkle of shining glass, she was shaking with anxiousness; fear.
“The baby-”she stammered, “h-he’s”
Words failed her. Her tongue felt heavy in her mouth and no matter how she tried to structure the news, sentences did not come easy to her.
“He’s what?” the Viscountess yelled, her voice vibrating through the walls like a high pitched sound wave, “how is my baby boy?”
“Baby Kim has passed on, Lady Kim. My sincerest apologies,” She bowed as her voice cracked delivering the unfortunate news.
The viscountess’ wails were inconsolable, they were haunting and your great grandmother couldn’t help but hang her head in shame. Everything her father taught her was flushed down the drain, her career as a healer was compromised and her life was not guaranteed at the sake of her failure.
All her certainties hung by a single thread and her freedom disintegrated when a lock and chain adorned her wrists and soon as Viscount Kim heard of the unfortunate events surrounding the birth and death of his only son. He—they blamed her for the entire thing, despite her best interest always being the delivery of a healthy boy. They did not listen to her, instead they ostracized her and held a trial to supply her culpability. Her charges included, ‘conspiring against the noble Kim.’
Tumblr media
You closed her journal up and slouched on your rickety rocking chair, swinging back and forth lightly.
That was all written by her.
She wrote it as an autobiography for the following generations to understand—it was a reminder of the story you didn’t need to read because you knew it by heart; you lived it; you simulated her pain.
After the verdict was delivered by the counsel, composed of those hand selected by the Kim family, for the proceedings of an unjust trial. They were ready to send your great grandmother to be executed. Hastily, they came to the realization that our family were the only healers in Hawkshead and the nearest family of honorable medicinal knowledge settled days away from our village, so instead of ending her life. . They decided to sentence her and the women to follow to be banished, and sent her on exile to the Levate.
So they walked her to the outskirts nearing the barrier of the viridescent enchanted forrest—she was to reside there and if her knowledge was ever requested they would seek out for her, but that was not her only duty, she was to assist all men injured in the Levate and guide them out the barrier in the direction of the village.
It was the punishment of imprisonment without the shackles, but at least in a cell you had cell mates, guards, people around you—there was nothing but emerald pasture and brobdingnagian trees for miles into the dense forest.
Her husband and son stayed behind in Hawkshead and they continued the legacy of male healers while the women in our family were condemned by her mistake. We were sent to fend for ourselves in the estranged surroundings of the Levate as soon as it was decided by the Kim counsel. A lot of them wed and snuck their husbands in and out of the forest but it wasn't in your intention to subject a man through the complications of the barrier but specially you did not plan to contribute a child into the damnation of this curse. Your predestined beginning and end was as it was, your inevitable demise. There was nothing you could do about it but your principles—your conscience wouldn’t allow you to drag someone else to be a subject of this morbid ordeal and while residing in the Levate was out of your reach; celibacy was the only aspect of your life you had control over.
It’s been a continuity of the same thing, day after day, the same sky up above, the same redundant emerald leaves on the same golden tree branches.
Everything was the same.
It was revolting and it sent you on a spiral of drumming headaches, the same four walls in this same cabin, and the same scenery outdoors.
Five years down, an eternity to go.
An eternity. Seems like ages away but our perception of forever is but mere speck in our reality because to the people out there—living, laughing, loving, life is dazed and comes and goes in the blink of an eye but within the barriers, behind the unchanged days and the repetitious routine your eternity has exceeded the five years you’d been in here and it seemed roads away from where you stood in that moment.
Though you were promised occasional outings of aid, not a single person back in the village has requested your healing abilities for months now and no one ever stumbles past the barriers unless absolutely necessary. You were completely alone, left to rot in abandonment—the Kim counsel knew that but you were certain the infliction of isolation was their specialty for torture.
Nightfall approached quicker than expected that day but you supposed it was the repercussions of being cocooned behind your probing thoughts for a clock’s worth. After dining and changing into your nightgown, you found yourself laying down on the creaky bedstead, you kept your window open becoming astounded by the luminosity of the night sky. The pale crescent moon shone like a bright pearl, and the blanket of winking stars stretched to infinity. Their soft glint mimicked the flickering candle light of your neighbors back at the village, and for a single moment. . you weren’t forgotten, they were just a door away keeping you company until you were finally able to drift off into a deep slumber.
Tumblr media
“There’s word in town about the death of the Lord Kim,” There were two girls walking by the southeastern border of the Levate, close to where you currently kneeled picking berries.
Although you could not see their faces, the youth and naivety in their tone was indication enough that they were young, far too young to acknowledge the gravity of their claims.
Being in seclusion was a dead man’s curse because despite the exigency of claims floating around the forest’ border you could never truly confirm its legitimacy.
One of the girls hushed the other, and they began their soft whispers but you could still hear. They were to keep away from the barrier, you should’ve probably warned them but their gossip was far more interesting.
“How could you even know of this?” one of the girls questioned, you didn’t dare peek out from your place behind the bushes to see who they were. . just listened, “what business have you in the Kim estate?”
“For starters, they called on that knowledgeable nurse from Lockwick and the lady maids have been spreading word around town.”
“I suppose you’re right but how could we be certain? They all hide so discreetly behind those golden gates.”
“Process of elimination obviously,” —you’d admit this is the most intel you have eavesdropped on in the last one thousand eight hundred and twenty five days. They continued, “The Kim daughters are all married off, their son is off on a voyage and Lady Kim was seen in town just two days ago. Who is the only person we have failed to see for weeks?”
“I suppose you’re right,” she continued in a whispering voice, “that still is no proof of his passing. I think we should wait and keep this to ourselves if we don’t want to end up like that girl who was banished there.” They were probably pointing into the Levate and were certainly referring to you.
Is that all you were in the village? A fable? A tactic to scare kids into respecting their elders? Did anyone even know what happened?
You sat on the soil which likely stained your blush pink skirt—you couldn’t bring yourself to care however.
‘like that girl’
‘that girl’
The words bounced in your head, their kinetic force dented the delicate walls of your brain. You just played their predicament over and over in a continuous loop. You were alive, breathing but you were as good as dead.
Noone remembered you or your name or what you stood for. Noone knew who you were anymore. You felt like an ant on a planet of giants—so insignificant and useless.
Your only consultation lay beside Lord Kim, in his deathbed if he was even dead. Your hope is rooted, that with his passing, the abolishment of the previous ancient laws and regulations would be mandated. This could be the opportunity to get out of here for good, to leave Hawkshead and live for yourself. You had never wished for the cessation of anyone before but you sure hoped there was a stone with his name engraved on it somewhere, especially after the hand he’s dealt in the suffrage of the women in your family, especially after he held onto the grudge of his ancestors as if they were his own.
Your brain was still frazzled by the rumors of the young girls, still, you attempted to map out who the following Viscount would be to serve as a successor. You doubt any of their daughters would come back, they are all married into wealth far richer than the Kim’s could even dream of. There was their eldest son who was off on a voyage and no one had seen sight of him for the last 11 years. No one knew exactly who he was anymore or what he looked like for that matter.
If speculation was right and Lord Kim has passed—their mysterious son should be coming into town. Perhaps, you could try and arrange a meeting with him, and argue your case.
You could be free.
At last there was hope. The possibility of a future you actually had the chance of living.
You skipped the rest of the way to the cabin. Your feet felt lighter against the verdure path—a buoyant spark coursed through your blood stream, the current sent you floating in mid-air. Intoxicated off ecstasy at the mere grasp of the potential freedom you so desperately craved.
Tumblr media
You stood near the barrier.
You were still in the Levate but there was a shift in the surroundings you were so accustomed to. Your initial thought was to run once and for all but your thoughts kept you grounded right where you stood.
Of course, you’ve thought about escaping but if the journals had taught you anything it was that running away would only lead to your demise.
All of your ancestors who disappeared. . turned up in a wooden box days after. You supposed freedom in the afterlife was much better than no freedom at all but you craved living and besides you couldn’t give the Kim’s the satisfaction of seeing you crumble.
You couldn’t.
You breathed slowly as the figure on the other side stood facing you. Its face was blurred and the usual lines outlining one's eyes, nose and lips were consumed by irrefutable darkness.
“Who are you?” You yelled out. . No response, “what are you doing so near the barrier?”
It held its hand out—palm stretched out reaching for you; calling out for you.
“I cannot leave unless called for medical assistance purposes,” you stepped closer to the barrier. . definitely digging into treacherous territories, “this is my home.” The words tasted so sour on your tongue, because although you were forced into the Levate it certainly wasn’t a home.
It remained in the same position, you knew you should’ve been petrified but his demeanor was inviting, it called out to you. His vocal vibrations perforated right through the barrier and enchanted the soles of your feet leading you to inch closer and closer to it.
“I can’t. .” you mouthed.
You looked back into the thicket there was nothing left for you here.
One step closer.
The bottomless feeling of loneliness vanished and was replaced with optimism. You shouldn’t wait to go far away.
“I shouldn’t. .” you mumbled.
“Come to me,” you heard, the voice was monotone, displaying no real sense of emotion, “we must make haste.”
“No. . no. .” Your objections convinced no one at all, not even yourself—but your eyes were closed and you shook your head vigorously, “No. .” you chanted over and over.
The voice which was once louder than yours, sounded farther and farther away, its words became muffled and disintegrating in your head. Suddenly, there was a shift and his pleas to have you disobey the rules set upon your life became cries for help.
“Help,” it repeated once over.
“Shut up.” You screamed, finally opening your eyes, there was nothing but darkness. . and you were laying in bed.
You were just dreaming.
You sighed, relieved to learn that you were not on the brink of insanity. . a little deprived of formal human interaction but you weren’t entirely a lost cause yet. Perhaps, the whole thing was rooted from the lone thread which remained intact, the same one which was to eventually lead you right out of the Levate, if the Kim son was as merciful as he was rumored to be in the village back when you were younger.
You sat up on your bed, a cold bead of sweat traveled along your temples and once again you found yourself in solace within the night sky. It was peaceful, as usual, but you couldn’t help but wonder how far the sky stretched. Was there such a place on earth where the heavens met its end? A place where you could climb up the stars as you would a ladder and swim amongst them forever.
There was a whimper, initially, it was faint and you thought it came from a traveler on the pathway near the barrier. But the whines became louder and louder and they were followed with soft cries for help. Unfamiliar, to the one in your dream this voice sputtered much more emotion, whoever it belonged to, surely they were hurt.
You slid on your slippers and made kitten strides towards the front door of the cabin.
“Is there anyone here?”
You grabbed onto the door handle, before stopping for just a second to take a deep breath. After grabbing the lit up lantern from the nearby countertop you made your way out of the house.
“Where are you?” you called out once stepping off the last wooden staircase.
Realistically speaking, you were aware you should’ve armed yourself with a kitchen knife for protection—but you were steered by adrenaline almost; shaken with the possibility of your first patient in five years. Guzzled, with the idea of the presence of another human being on the premises.
“I’m on the left side of your lovely home.”
“Lovely. .” You scoffed, more like hell.
When you finally reached him, he was crushing your rose bush as he remained sprawled out on the ground.
“Are you in need of some assistance, sir?” You asked in the utmost innocent voice.
“Uh,” He groaned, “Yes. . yes please.”
“How did you end up past the barrier?”
“I came. .” he scratched the back of his head, his voice you noticed was grave, much lower than you could remember any man sounding like back in Hawkshead. It was soothing, and felt just as it does when the sun hits your skin on a hot summer day, “I can’t actually remember..”
“The barriers have that effect on people, especially those who were not cursed to be in here.”
“Cursed?” he asked.
“Yes, I’ll explain soon. How about I help you up and we can chat inside. I’m getting a bit cold out here.” You stretched for him to grab, he did, and you quickly led him to the safety of your home. You sat him on one of the dining room chairs and pulled the second one for you right beside him.
“Welcome to the Levate,” you placed the lantern on the table. The swaying of the candle’s flame reflected on his perfect fucking face.
Actually, was there anything more passionate than the word perfect? because if there was, it would still not be enough to describe the beauty of the man you’d just housed.
“The Levate.” He repeated, his expresso eyes glimmered under the flickering flame, they sparkled like the hundreds of bright friends you had found in the dead of night every dawn.
“Yes,” after washing your hands and gathering a bottle of whiskey, cloth bandages, tweezers, and a cold compress for his head you took a seat beside him
“Is this forest part of the village up ahead?”
“You remember Hawkshead?”
“Is that the village?”
You hummed.
“Vaguely.”
You placed the cotton cloth with ice against the bump on this forehead, “Is it ok if we remove this sleeve of your shirt?” You pointed at the bloodstained sleeve with the scattered holes which were likely a result of the thorns dug into his arm from your roses. He nodded, “does it hurt?”
He shook his head, “not really.”
“Can you remember your name?” You asked, slowly removing the shirt as to avoid more injury.
“Tae,” he winced. “All I remember is being called Tae.”
“Ok, Tae. .” you began, “This is going to pinch just a bit but you let me know if you want me to stop.”
Tae nodded. His arm had seven thorns adorning his honey-toned skin. “Do you remember anything about your family?”
“Not really,” You pulled out the first thorn and he winced, just six more to go, “I remember I have a mother and like 5 sisters but their names are blank. Is this normal here. . In the Levate?”
“Yes,” you pulled out two more, “It is. To on goers the Levate is a pause in time. This is the forest of abandonment—while in here your mind is on pause and all your memories are tampered by the forces casted upon the ambience.”
“So when I leave—”
“I have never had the liberty to leave but I believe I’ll be but a faint memory.”
“Are you stuck here?” You pulled out the remaining with little to no reaction from him.
You nodded. A faint smile was pressed upon your lips.
“I suppose I am.” After grabbing the whiskey and pouring some into a cloth you began dabing his wounds to prevent infection. His gaze was on you like a spell and while you tried to remain focused you couldn’t help the stutter in your movements as you began wrapping his arm up.
“What does that mean?”
“My great great grandmother made a very wealthy family in the village angry and ever since then the healing female descendents have been casted to an eternity of damnation here in the Levate. This is our home for the rest of our lives.” You looked right into his gleaming orbs in an attempt to hide the melancholiness in yours, his were soft; soulful; and you could easily map out the entire galaxy in them.
“Have you ever tried to just up and leave?”
“Others have tried but it didn't quite work out.”
“These people really hold onto grudges don’t they,” he shook his head.
“I guess it’s human nature.”
“What’s yours?” You stood to discard the supplies you had used to assist him. The ill-lit cabin was the worst reminder of what your human nature was; the Levate was too; your lineage; you were.
“To be alone.”
“And you believe that?”
“Doesn’t really matter what I believe because it is as it is. There’s nothing to change now and the only person who can is on voyages nowhere to be found.” Saying it out loud was unsparing—every time those hopeless words met your tympanum it added to the deeply rooted sentiment of wanting out, of searching for a better tomorrow.
“Who can?”
“Their son.”
“And he’s gone?”
You shrugged, “not dead just away from Hawkshead.”
He slouched back on the chair, lips spread widely in a yawn, his toned chest was exposed under the two torn buttons on his white top—he looked exhausted.
“Well this is the only home in the Levate but you are more than welcome to stay over as long as you like.” You offered.
“Are you sure?”
“Of course, my tiny prison is your tiny prison.” You smiled.
“I love the decorative statements you’ve made here,” he unhurriedly scanned the cabin’s walls, taking it all in inch by inch, “especially this unique wall paper.”
“It’s sun dried flowers. . they were all dead.”
“Well they certainly bring life to the place.”
“Thanks.”
His smile was wide, so luminous it lit up the pathway back to the village even from here. “And where shall I divulge in my slumber? I require a lot of commodities, you know.”
“Of course, will a sleeping bag or a duvet do?”
“Duvet sounds lovely.”
“I’ll fetch that for you.”
Tumblr media
Mornings were always your favorite time of the day. You awoke, read a few pages from your ancestors journals or medical books, prepared a pot of tea and fetched the daily nutritional offerings left for you by those in the village. It was a routine, one you have grown accustomed to, and embraced dearly because it reminded you that despite being shunned away you were still here. Alive. Breathing.
You rubbed sleep off your eyes and sat up on the bed.
“Good morning,” the voice was invasive and although you knew Tae was here, you just weren’t used to having anyone around.
“Good morning to you.” you reciprocated, “you seem to be doing well this morning.”
“It was but a couple of scratches.” His back was still turned to you as he scrambled around on top of the stove, “I’m much better. I really hope you weren’t expecting me off this early.”
“Honestly, I thought you would’ve ran out of here as soon as the sun emerged.”
“Why is that?”
“A lot of men flee from the burden of not knowing. Actually, no. . Nobody has ever stumbled amongst my gardens before. I assume they would all run for the hills.”
“Assumptions are not facts.” Tae handed you a piece of bread and a small cup of coffee, “I hope you do not mind me staying just for a bit though.”
“That is fine with me.” You deliver softly. The only burden weighing on your shoulders was getting used to being around Tae and then having to watch him cross that barrier to his regular life back in the village without the faintest memory of you.
“Are you alright?” He asked, taking a seat next to you on the bed.
You nodded, “I’m alright.”
“So. .” he rubbed his hands on his slacks, “What’s on the itinerary for the day?”
“Not much actually,” you laughed as you were reeled back into your pathetic life, “there are very few things to do in here.”
Tae smiled so tenderly it felt as if you were floating on water—as if you were being swayed aimlessly on a body of water. Allowing the curvatures of his mouth to direct you as they pleased. It felt so refreshing having someone smile at you that way. You couldn’t quite get enough of it.
“Anything in particular you need to get done?”
“I need to go wash my clothes in the river.”
“I’ll come along.”
Upon making it to the river you landed at the usual spot on the river bank where a couple of boulders sat. You placed your basket on the ground and reached for the first item before smearing soap on it to slap, twist and rub the clothes against the rock.
You repeated the same for everything you brought over which was not necessarily a whole lot but you felt the need to distract yourself from being so indulged in Tae’s presence.
“So what are you going to do to arrange a meeting with this wealthy person to get you out of here?” He laid on the grass, his head touched your calf slightly and you swore you could feel the small sparks beginning to ignite as his dark hair tickled your skin.
“First, I have to see if he’s back in town.”
“And how would we know?”
You shrugged, “They’re pretty well known so I’m hoping word gets around and somehow makes it back to me.”
“That’s an absurd plan.” His protests were right but you really had no way of arranging for things to be executed in a better way.
“Well, Tae, that is the best I could come up with. There’s no other way.”
“Are you even being watched here?” He asked.
“I walked the perimeter of the Levate previously but I didn’t see anyone guarding it but all my previous ancestors who have attempted an escape have been killed shortly after leaving.” You twisted the cloth a bit harder against the hard surface.
“So they’re not caught leaving but instead on the road out of the village. I’m guessing they’ve been unlucky enough to encounter people who honor that wicked family.” Tae continued, “how many have tried to escape?”
“Two.”
“One’s a coincidence but I believe in a situation like this two might be intentional. I’m not sure I remember but there might be guards watching movement in and out of the village”
“Seems like it. . but I do not plan an escape. I wanna leave out of here honorably and to break this stupid curse once and for all. It needs to end with me.” You rubbed harsher and harsher.
“I promise I will remember you. I’ll help you get out of here,” he sat up and guided your chin towards him—your eyes met his once again. They were dark this time, almost black and you could tell he actually meant the words he said and even though you did not quite believe he had a say in remembering anything upon crossing the barrier you smiled either way. He believed in you and your hopes of getting out and that’s all that mattered.
“I’ll hold you to that.” You laughed playfully.
“You won’t have to wait long.” He held your hand and his thumb rubbed circles on your wrist, “I promise.”
Promise. The density of the word was far too great and while you wanted to believe Tae’s dulcet words, you knew that even if unintentionally he would forget about your existence the moment he left.
His heart was in the right place but you could not get your hopes up on empty promises.
You just had to find the Kim son.
“It’s really no trouble. I don’t want you knocking door to door back at the village asking about the girl living in the woods.”
“I’ll do it if I have to. You are not your ancestors’ mistakes. You deserve a chance at a life to live.” His touch was still soothing against you, it mimicked the softness of silk and you could maintain your fingers intertwined for an eternity. Funny enough in this situation an eternity did not seem long enough to have Tae holding you as he was.
“I’ll be here.” There was a flutter in your heart—something you’ve never felt before, “I would ask about you but your memory is impaired at the moment.”
“Yeah,” He scoffed, “I’m hoping I’m an only child and hopefully a succeeding prince.”
“A prince would never set foot in Hawkshead.”
“Perhaps I was in search of my princess.”
“In Hawkshead?” you shook your head, “again. . unrealistic.”
“Not entirely.” He laid back on the grass and closed his eyes, “It is no secret how desperate princes tend to be.”
“So now you are desperate?”
“Perhaps,” he shrugged.
“Perhaps—” you reiterated, “and what exactly is his desperateness dependent on?”
“The lady I would be searching for I guess.”
“I’m sure there are countless potential maidens to choose from back in Hawkshead.”
“Hawkshead?” He chuckled amusingly.
“Well, yes, that was your intentional destination. Was it not?” A breeze swept swiftly easing the haze raging in your head as a result of Tae’s words and the scorching mid-summer sun.
“Intentional?” he shrugged, “Sure. But I believe I ended up right where I needed to be.”
“You believe so?” You hummed.
“I know so.” Tae was confident and the certitude behind his words sent a shiver down your spinal cord—just twenty four hours with him and your heart began to pounce at your chest whenever his voice graced your ears. Your movements slowed and you felt breathless as if his being alone sucked the air right out of your lungs.
“The implications of this place are less than ideal don’t you think?” you resonated.
“You have lived it darling. Is the Levate substandard?”
“It is like a prison chamber,” you scrubbed the top in your hands so hard it felt like you were grating your palm on the boulder.
“Do you not believe yourself to be free?”
“I live the same days over and over again, Tae. There is no freedom within these borders.”
“I suppose you’re right.”
His being was alluring like one of those paintings your father kept in his study back home. The soft strokes of the emerald grass complimented the honey tone Tae seemed to have adopted for the duration of summer. Elegance augmented his features from his dark locks, to the soft smile curved at his face, to his attire.
He belonged in an art gallery.
He cleared his throat, “can I ask something?”
“Sure.”
“Is your love already promised to someone else once you leave this place?”
“No.” One word responses were not usually your forte but Taehyung’s question was rather surprising, although coming from the peak of his curiosity you expected nothing less, “why is that inquiry living in your head?”
“I wanted to decipher whether I would ever have a chance with you.”
“Perhaps, if it is written in the stars, we could meet back in Hawkshead and during courtship we could attend the balls in each other’ arms.”
“The balls are pretentious and congested with chaotic gestures of desperate daughters. . I want no distraction in my attempt to romance you,” he was a sweet talker, you had noticed, swatting the butterflies in your stomach was useless — you could already feel yourself colliding against him.
“In society we would not be granted the privacy you require. .” you shook your head, “do you want a forced marriage at the cost of your hands accidentally touching mine?”
“Not forced. . My willingness is voluntary.”
“You live inside the fantasy brick walls of your creative mind..”
“Are you saying you would mind?”
“I wouldn’t.”
“Good. Now push over,” He kneeled beside you making your elbows grace each other ever so slightly. You weren’t sure if he did it on purpose or if he even felt what you did but your feet levitated into the stratosphere. His touch even unintentionally swept you right off your feet, “allow me to give you a hand.”
Tumblr media
It’s been three days since Tae stumbled upon your rose bushes and sadly it was his last night here in the Levate. He was to cross the barrier early morning and embark on his quest to help you out of here. . if he even remembered.
You really hoped he did but there was no certainty and that very detail would gnaw at your anxiousness until you were given the chance to be face to face with him once again.
“What are you so deep in your head about?” Tae asked from his position on the floor.
“Many things.”
“What? Will you miss me?” He joked.
Yes. You wanted to shout out but you didn’t.
“Not one bit.”
“I don’t believe you,” you were sure there was probably a smug expression plastered on his face but you were too busy glancing out the window to verify, “your days were graced by my charm.”
“So narcissistic,” you heard him gasp, “perhaps you are a descendent of royals after all.”
“It is in my bloodstream.”
An ear-splitting silence fell between the two of you. You realized even just his company sufficed to provide you with warmth and comfort you needed.
“Have you ever tried to count how many stars look over us every night?” The vibrato of his whispered; grave utters bounced right off of the oak walls.
“That would be impossible.” The luminous points invaded the night sky as they did every other night. They were your faithful companions.
“Not at all,” slumber was catching up to him. You could hear it in the stammering, “every night as we lay under the same sky, let’s both count the stars until we finally get to reunite once more.”
“How would we know we are watching them at the same exact time?”
“Just trust your heart.”
“I know it’s selfish. .” you began, “but I wish you could stay for a bit longer.”
Tae did not respond, not vocally anyway. Instead, he turned in the direction of your bed from his place on the floor. His expression was tender, his cheeks were impaled by dimbles.
You would miss his company, and his eyes, and his smile, and the unspoken intimacy you felt dancing between the two of you. You wondered if he felt it as intensely as you did even in such a short time? You wouldn’t dare ask—but your heart was convinced he did, while your head remained on his departure the following morning. No matter how many times he promised, you were aware you would be a granule of sugar in a short three days of his abundant existence, one he would not be able to remember the moment he walked out on the other side.
You wanted to kiss him so badly. His lips were so inviting. . It would be your perfect departure from him.
But there was no use if he would not be able to recall any of it once he crossed over.
“I would stay with you forever,” he murmured.
You opened your eyes abruptly—but he was already fast asleep. Surely, you’d imagined it.
Surely.

“Lord Kim,” a voice sounded through the other side of the door, “are you decent?”
He hummed back groggily and almost immediately his doubled doors were pushed open. The Butler of the Kim estate, Hoseok, invaded his dormitory.
“I told you since I have come back, Hoseok,” he yawned, “you are more than welcome to refer to me as Taehyung.”
“Of course Sir,” he stumbled, “I mean, Taehyung.”
Taehyung sat up on the canopy bed surrounded by fine silk sheets. Ever since he was able to make it home after being missing, life in the Kim estate seemed like so much for just one person. It all did. This bed, his room, his new title as Viscount Kim ever since his father passed away twelve months prior.
Before making it to Hawkshead, Taehyung had gone missing for a period of three entire days, and although his mother had kept this information from him at the time, he managed to obtain the location from where he was found by staff in the manor after his mother passed just nine months ago.
They told him he had been laying down near the northern border of the Levate forest geared towards the entrance of the village.
Back then, he was coming back home to assist his mother with the funerary ceremony for his father—but after losing her as well just a few months after he was shackled to this place as he was officially the new and esteemed, Viscount Kim Taehyung III.
“I just wanted to announce that dinner would be served in about ten minutes, sir.” He did not make it a habit to correct Hoseok on the usage of anything but his name once again. For, he knew his father and ancestors before were rather stern with how they managed life around the home.
He knew his changes would take some getting used to.
“Would you like me to close the drapes, Sir?”
“No, Hoseok, they’re fine. I like to look at the night sky before falling fast asleep.”
“Very well, I’ll see downstairs in ten.” Hoseok walked towards the door and reached for the golden handle before opening it.
“Hoseok,” Taehyung called out, “the files that I requested a few days ago. Have they been fetched yet?”
“Yes sir, they’re bringing up the last of the few boxes and everything should be in the study right after dinner.”
“Thank you so much, Hoseok.”
Hoseok disappeared behind the mahogany door and Taehyung was left alone once again.
Just him and his thoughts.
And somehow they always brought him right back to those three days he couldn’t even precisely remember. The Levate was always known to be desolate; scary and unexplored. Those were the stories his parents always recounted as a warning for him to stay away but he could not help the feeling that there had been someone out there who took care of him.
But who could willingly reside in that creepy forest on the outskirts of the village?
Tae walked over to his bedroom window taking in the sights of the stars swimming amongst the late night sky. In the couple of minutes he stood by he counted hundreds of them. There was a sense of serenity in being able to witness their brightness, there was a bubbling urgency in him in wanting to assign a number to all of them, although it seemed impossible.
He would one day, though, and that was a promise he made to himself.
After scarcely getting through dinner as he did not have too much of an appetite, Taehyung invited Hoseok over to the study in an attempt to get through all of the documents he needed to before dawn.
Under the flickering flames of the candles around the room, Hoseok took the couch with one box while he sat in the leather chair behind your father’s desk with two more. The first few documents detailed finances, work affairs and where your father usually geared towards for business encounters. On the bottom of the first box there was a folder with a black stamp sealed in the top right corner, spelling the word, confidential in all capitals.
He quickly pulled out the folder and scattered the documents out in-front of him. It was a family tree with all of the female descendants circled in red ink for the last two-hundred years. There were two years listed under every single name, one for which they were banished and one for the date indicating they had passed away.
The most recent one showed the latest descent had been banished around six years prior.
Taehyung, flipped through a couple more pages in the document before landing on the agreement between the council, the Kim family and the first ancestor to have been banished.
Apparently, she had attempted to assist in the birth of a Kim ancestor hundreds of years ago who passed during the delivery and instead of public execution, they had sentenced her to banishment in the Levate. Although not stated in the original document they made a new regulation after her passing to imprison all the female descendants on her side of the family as a repercussion to avoid the death of any more babies in the village by the carelessness of their hands.
“This is absurd,” he hissed through gritted teeth, “come here, Hoseok. Did you know about this?”
Hoseok hovered over your shoulder as he began scanning the document, nodding slowly as if he wanted to lie instead but opting against it in the end.
“I found out when it was time for your father to banish the recent descendant six years ago,” he leaned on the dark walls of the room, “but your father wasn’t as understanding as you are. He threatened me and my family in exchange for my secrecy.”
“But he’s been gone for months, Hoseok.” Taehyung reasoned, he was mad that the butler had not brought it up at least once in the past few months, “You’ve had so many opportunities to bring it up to my attention.”
“I did not know many details, Sir,” his lips quivered and Taehyung could see the exasperation glooming over Hoseok, “All I know is the latest descendent was banished and only you have the power to bring it to the council for reconsideration as a Kim.”
Taehyung’s expression softened, “thank you for providing me with the details now. Would you please seek out the council and arrange for a meeting tomorrow afternoon?”
“Of course.”
“This is all for tonight. Please let me know of the meeting time and location come early morning. Good night, Hoseok.”
“Good night.”
The meeting was arranged in the Kim garden early afternoon and while you had discussed some pressing points the council held relating to your parents passing, it was time for you to bring your own concern to their attention.
Most of the original council has now been overtaken by an earlier generation for reasons similar to your own.
“Joon, I presume Hoseok mentioned the reason for the calling of today’s meeting.”
He nodded as he gobbled on yet another tea sandwich, “he provided a brief synopsis.”
Joon was the descendent of the original founder of the council and whatever he said went. He was far less serious and strict than his father was but Tae supposed they all were. None of them were their fathers.
“Why don’t you detail what you want to propose with a bit more clarity, Taehyung?” Yoongi cut-in as he noticed Namjoon was far too indulged in the delicacies table. Yoon was more of the straightforward kind of guy and had fought tirelessly to be kept out of the council but with the passing of his father he had no choice but to step in as the eldest Min son.
“This is regarding the descendants of the Levate. I wanted to propose an official release as the original document was altered after the first healer passed away.” you detailed, “it is not fair to continue the imprisonment of those women in that forest.”
“I agree,” Jimin cut-in. His family was known for being quite liberal and you figured the recorded vote against the sending of that woman to the Levate all of those years ago came from his ancestor.
“That’s 2-5, as I am obviously voting against keeping her there,” Tae said.
“I’m with them seems a bit cruel and unusual,” Seokjin conquered.
“Same.” Yoongi said.
He was the more traditional man of the bunch so it surprised you when Joon seemed to be the bearer of bad news.
“I also agree with your arguments but the only way out of banishment for the healer is marriage to a Kim descendent. It is stated in the original document that you should have read Tae.”
“Don’t ‘Tae’ me if you plan to enforce the rules of our beastly fathers.”
“I plan to do no such thing,” Joon quickly argued, “but we were sworn in to provide transparency to the people of Hawkshead. We are not royalty by any means but as founding families we do not and cannot sit above the mandates of those who came before us, for if we do, how can the people trust in us as the new replacing founders.”
“I’m afraid he’s right, Taehyung,” Seokjin was the voice of reason, “we cannot afford having the village against our judgments and decisions at this time.”
This is not what he originally planned for.
“With all due respect Tae,” Yoongi began, “How about we near the borders of the Levate and summon the descendent. From there we can propose the marriage proposal and see where she stands. If it is not an option for her she will unfortunately have to enter back into the Levate until we can seek a viable way to get her out.”
“It is settled, she does not need to be paying for reparations of an accident that took place years ago. Therefore, all in favor of the marriage proposition to lift banishment say I.” Joon was an honest man, and Taehyung was sure the pressures of being head of the founding council was a heavy-bearing occupation and though this wasn’t the conclusion he was hoping for—it was a start.
A wave of I’s circled around him.
He hesitated but ultimately caved as he saw no other way as of now, “I.”
Tumblr media
Approaching the Levate was quite intimidating and it certainly did not help that Yoongi, Jimin, Seokjin and Namjoon had offered to accompany you on the trip to the initiation of a possible loveless marriage.
They stood near the carriage as he walked towards the barrier. The hairs on the back of his neck stood as a wind of familiarity immediately brushed past his face the closer he got.
Taehyung hoped this would not seem odd to you but he was trying his best to get you out of the Levate as soon as possible.
Taehyung saw her figure nearing the border of the green pasture and automatically noticed her smile beaming from ear to ear. She was as radiant as the flowers embedded in the wealthiest of gardens in the village, as dazzling as the sun and her aura was as familiar as the late-night stars he had begun conversing with ever since he made it back home earlier that year.
“Tae, you’re back,” her voice was silky and your name sounded like honey dripping from her lips, “you promised and now you’re back.”
He cleared your throat “I promised?”
“Sorry,” she began, “yes, some months ago you had stumbled into the Levate after being back from a voyage. After falling on my rose garden. I did a miniscule job of pulling out the thorns and you stayed about three days before heading off,” her recount of the events cleared the patches of missing information within your memory.
“Why can’t I remember any of that on my own?”
“The barrier of the Levate erases your memory as soon as you cross over,” her eyebrows were furrowed, “but if you cannot remember how come you are here?”
“My name is Kim Taehyung III, a descendent of the Hawshead founding families. After the recent passing of our fathers the replacement council made it our mission to overturn the cruel mandates set forth by our ancestors.”
“Yes, we discussed that while you were in here,” she said softly, “although, I did not know then that you were the person I needed to speak to.”
“Your case was the first to come to our attention, mine especially, as a Kim descendent. In the unofficial documents by the founders however there is a minor detail standing in the way of your immediate liberation.”
“What is the minor detail?”
“The only way of our banishment for your family is through marriage.” Taehyung said.
Her pupils were blown and her voice quivered, “who would I have to wed?”
“Me. Otherwise you would have to remain in the Levate until the council finds another way to get you out.”
The agreement of marriage came unexpectedly to you but in your time together she had recollections of only pleasant memories plus made you made him promise to drag you along on his explorations when he had to go off on voyages.
You craved to see the world.
Taehyung agreed and after the small wedding ceremony with the founding families bearing as witnesses. The two of you became husband and wife in the local church after your meeting a couple of days prior. Everything was geared on high speed and happened just a few weeks after your meeting with the proposition.
The two of you barely had any time to talk between the legality of documents and the preparations of the hurried marriage.
“Are we all alone?” you asked, flickering on the lights of the family room as you walked in the Kim estate.
“It is the beginning of the honeymoon traditions,” he informed, “the house is left vacant for the husband and wives and the next couple of days we get to ourselves before embarking on a voyage to visit extended family.”
“Is my family still around in Hawkshead?” you asked to take a seat on the couch, he followed sitting across from you.
“They live a boat ride over now but not far. They were granted leave by my father as the remaining siblings seemed to be brothers who were born just a couple of years ago.”
“I have brothers?”
“Twin brothers,” he confirmed, “we can go see them tomorrow if you would like.”
“Can we go later on in the week?”
“We shall go right before heading off to see mine early next week. How does that sound?”
“That sounds fine.”
He scratched the back of his head, “I forgot to thank you for your care back in the Levate. I am sorry I cannot remember anything about our time together.”
She shook her head, “it is not your fault my Lord. I was just happy I could assist, plus you made those three days the best of my time in the Levate.”
“You can just call me Taehyung if you would like.”
“Taehyung.” she repeated, “so it is true that the replacing founders are trying to implement structures of change to Hawkshead. They seem to be less austere and puritanical than their ancestors.”
He flashed a boxy smile in your direction, the one you missed so much over the past year, “I heard they are trying their hardest.”
“I am glad their compassion now graces the land,” you complimented, watching as his cheeks turned as red as the roses he had stumbled upon in your garden, “thank you Taehyung, for keeping your promise of getting me out of there.”
“No need to thank me. Unfortunately, my descendants were at fault for this entire ordeal. It is the least I could do.”
You gazed at the way his cherry lips were moisturized by his tongue. Perhaps, a nervous tic you had not quite picked up back in the Levate. Was he nervous? Replaying, the rather chaste kiss he left on your lips back at the altar and his clammy palms holding yours you deduced he was in fact nervous.
All you could ever think of however was his body heat in your proximity.
“It will forever be engraved in my heart that even after losing your memories of me after crossing the barrier, you still cared enough to get a stranger out of that situation,” you placed your hand on top of his.
“It was my basic duty after everything inflicted on your family all these years,” you noticed the change in his tone as he breathed out ruggedly, “please do not assume you owe me anything because of this. You do not.”
“I know you are a perfect gentleman, Taehyung but my heart beat for you the moment we met back in the Levate. What I feel is not forced or payment for your heroic antics,” his eyes remained on his lap and he seemed to be averting eye contact at all costs, “but that doesn’t mean you are forced to reciprocate something you cannot remember.”
“I cannot remember it,” he spoke barely above a whisper, “but I can feel the way my heart races when you come in my proximity. I felt it during our meeting. I feel it even now.”
The heat rose rapidly as you felt the way his eyes began mapping out your figure sprawled out on the couch. You figured it was a bit onerous though, as the wedding dress gifted to you wasn’t too flattering on your body. You made short strides towards him and stood in between his thighs, after unzipping the fabric you saw as it pooled at your feet exposing your inner-wear.
His carnal desires were reflective on the way his eyes scorched to a deep umber and his lower lip was blanketed under his teeth.
“Can I take you up to my suite?” The question sounded in your ears like a song being played delicately on the keys of pianos.
“Take me to your suite.”
Taehyung carried you bridal style sharing plenty of laughs at the countless trips and stumbles as he trotted up the stairs with you in his arms. You both finally made it to his massive sleeping chamber—it seemed a bit crazy how you were shoved into a tiny pocket of the Levate while Taehyung slept this lavishly every night.
You didn’t hold it against him but it was ironic how your worlds were destined to be so different and somehow clashed.
“Your house is so grand,” your eyes wandered through the different shades of blues adorning his room, “and to think you wanted to stay with me in the forest.”
“What?” he scoffed, “you do not see me as someone who can forage off the land?”
“You are far from the term, Kim Taehyung.”
“Assumptions are not facts,” he laid beside you on the bed and suddenly you were taken back to that morning in the Levate when he uttered those exact words.
“You have said those exact words to me before, you know.”
“My wisdom transcends the erasure of memories from a magical forest. You didn’t know?”
You giggled landing a soft punch on his elbow. “It seems I was not aware.”
“Now you are,” the tips of his fingers felt like waves of static shocks against your skin. He traced the outline of your chin, the nape of your neck, and collarbone before stopping where your cleavage began.
Your eyes were shut tightly as his cold touch continued exploring your searing body.
“Darling, are you sure you want to do this?”
“Taehyung, you have been the muse of my wildest dreams and the root of my deepest desires for the year following your leave,” you caressed his delicate cheeks with the back of your thumbs. He melted right into your touch, “I have longed for you and now I am finally here with you.”
“You waited for me?”
“Well realistically speaking,” you shrugged, “I had nowhere to go. My only option was to wait.”
He winked, “I will remember it my way.”
As a substitute to the small talk the both of you had engaged in to relieve some of the tension clinging to the air, you found yourselves leaning into each other at a leaden speed until finally your lips crashed into one another. His tender lips tasted of strawberries exactly as you imagined.
And the way his lips moved against yours was agonizingly mellow - and made you feel faint.
Who would have guessed being free could ever taste so sweet. . so fucking sweet.
The two of you were bare, crashing back into the ocean of his silk sheets. His wandering touch landed on your breast, while his kisses continued sweeping you off your feet. . his fingers focused on your nipple as he began rolling, pinching, and rubbing the sensitive bud.
“Taehyung. .” you breathed out.
“I’m just getting started,”
His pillowy lips trailed down your stomach leaving icy wet kisses on your skin leading you to succumb to the delicacy of his care. Your paradise you quickly realized was at the mercy of Taehyung’s ministrations.
The way he pecked your body so sweetly was intoxicating.
Just when you believed he reached his destination, he continued to travel lower and lower positioning himself between your thighs.
“Taehyung?” your eyes met his as he hovered over your arousal.
“Do you trust me darling?”
He propped your legs up on his shoulders. A yelp escaped your lips as your pussy was now placed right in front of his face.
Your heart began pounding against your chest blaringly - it became so potent you could almost hear its rhythmic beat against the shell of your ear.
“I trust you.”
The feeling was electrifying and beat through you like a bolt of lightning igniting a warm feeling in the pit of your stomach. His effects on you were lost in the darkness invading your surroundings; still he devoured you as if you were the last meal he’s been presented with.
His tongue licked and sucked your clit. Your breath hitched and all your voice could manage were incoherent babbles accompanied by the chanting of his name.
“Y-you are so good Taehyung.”
He hummed against your folds.
“So good, Taehyung.” You repeated, lacing your finger into his dark strands.
There were spurs of white light behind your eyelids as you became enthralled in the way he continued to move against you. The pleasure was addicting and you were afraid your longing wish was to have Taehyung on his knees every hour of every day and at every given moment.
“Please do not stop,” He continued, “please.”
There were successions of shooting stars ornamenting the heavens and finally you reached the breath-taking place where the earth and the sky meet.
Your heaven.
“You were so good darling,” he paused, “you took my breath away.”
His voice is now deeper than you remembered. A train of moonlight invaded his dormitory. Taehyung looked as stunning as ever, his hair is a disheveled mess, his lips adopted a deeper hue of scarlet while his features were inundated with his sweat.
“Ready?” He asked.
“Yes.”
The feeling was foreign and dissimilar to the feeling you had experienced hen his mouth ate you out, you felt full with him inside of you and although initially there was pain, the more you grew accustomed to it the more pleasure you felt.
His hips moved slowly in and out of you.
Your whimpers mixed with his groans was all that could be heard through the house.
Still, his agonizing pace remained, while his finger landed back on your clit as he traced the number eight repeatedly.
There was no falter in his movements, continued, and continued and continued once again.
Those shooting stars from before burst into beautiful displays of fireworks and for the second time that night you reached your high.
When Taehyung pulled out of you he was still hard, “I am going to head to the bathroom.”
You cut-in, “can I help?”
“Oh,” he moaned, “can you?”
“I want to.”
He sat at the foot of the mattress and patted the spot next to him for you to sit—you did.
“Use your hand. Is that ok with you darling?”
“Yes, can you guide me?”
“Of course.”
The tip of his cock disappeared behind your grasp while his balmy palms covered yours. He guided you down to the base and back up to the tip—the motion he set was swift and you could only ogle as Taehyung masterbated using your hand for release.
The thought made you wet all over again.
He whimpered, “I’m so close.”
His hand remained on top of yours but his motions were no longer leading, he was too engrossed in his own pleasure. You hastened the speed, now determined to help him feel as good as he made you feel.
His whispered moans only motivated your movements until finally his come covered your hand.
After disappearing for a couple of seconds Taehyung walked back from the wash room with a towel in hand, “sorry I didn’t warn you about this,” he wiped you all clean.
“I liked it,” you murmured, “I would like for you to teach me many more things.”
“We have a whole eternity for that darling.”
“Eternity. . That sounds nice.”

There are no Primes. There haven't been any Primes since the Matrix was reclaimed by Primus. But with the war spiraling out of control and Orion Pax, the hope of the Autobots being on death's door, Ratchet had no other choice. The Autobots needed a leader, they needed a Prime. If Primus would not give them one, then Ratchet sure as Pit would.
(fair warning, this post is really freaking long)
━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙ ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙
Orion Pax was their leader. He took up the mantle when the Autobots needed hope more than ever before. He was kind, he was courageous, he was wise and grew more so with every day. He was what they needed to keep marching forward against Megatron's forces and the slow demise that their world seemed to be dead set of reaching. He was more than worthy of being a Prime.
Ratchet never expected such a mech to fall.
Even as he sat at Orion's bedside watching his friend and leader waste away, he could hardly comprehend it. However as the army began to panic without their leader and the Decepticons grew more bold, Ratchet was forced to make a choice. Orion would not live long. His frame was devastated beyond repair and he had no Matrix to give to a successor to lead the Autobots. When he died everything would fall apart and their world would be handed over to Megatron.
Ratchet could not allow this, not when everything they were fighting for depended on the presence of a leader.
As such while there was still time, Ratchet cast aside his reservations and he began what would be considered a heretical work by any definition. He quietly began collecting scans, samples, CNA, copies of memory, and everything else that made Orion Pax who he was. He did not tell anyone what he was doing as Orion faded and he took what he gathered and began to apply it to his project. To keep the army at least semi-composed, the lie he told the Autobots was simple: That Orion Pax was being taken for emergency frame restructuring and was to be brought close to Primus's core to keep his spark stable.
He forged the studies he used to back up his claim that having Orion moved was a wise decision. And then once that was done, he took his friend from the medical bay and brought him to Ratchet's personal laboratory where he took everything he could from his friend while he still lived.
The CNA he used to begin creating a clone, one that he ensured was lifeless through a series of chemical implants. He adjusted it as needed, altering it to match his specifications and leave room for the modifications he had planned. He integrated the CNA of fallen Primes after rooting around and collecting what he could from their lifeless frames to give his creation the strength of Primes. He also altered the clone frame to have a gaping hole where its spark chamber would have been should it have lived in order to house part of what he was making. Then while the clone frame developed, Ratchet carefully began cultivating an AI which he fed Orion's memories.
He took great care with the AI, feeding it memory and coding it in such a way that it would follow his orders. He put in failsafes, integrated the ability for the AI to evolve and learn how to overcome obstacles, and went to great lengths to input an impossible to ignore urge to win the war and restore Cybertron. It took nearly a vorn of fine tuning, by which point Orion had already passed away. But when the AI was a near perfect replica of Orion Pax mentally, at least based on what Ratchet knew of his friend, he made the final piece to finish the puzzle.
His greatest creation was by far the faux Matrix. He based its design off the old texts and what images he could find. Then when its outer shell was complete, he made the greatest super computer he could compile with the aid of a few anonymous engineers who had no idea what they were making for him. He filled the faux Matrix with the entirety of Cybertron's databanks and designed it in such a way that it would run through countless scenarios and calculate the best course of action. He altered its way of giving information so that it would come in the form of old text and strange glyphs to imitate what previous Primes had said their interactions with the real Matrix was like.
He gave it the command to run through data during the artificial Prime's recharge cycle to imitate visions. He then also altered it so that it directly connected to he Prime AI and would, if all went well, regulate the coded emotional responses as the real Matrix would have done with its chosen Prime. He jumped through every hoop to make it so that his artificial Prime would be as convincing as possible, even giving the clone frame the ability to expertly control its EM field to create an aura of divinity through a series of recessive codes.
Then finally, after over a vorn of effort and just before the army began to panic again, Ratchet put together his finest creation. His perfect artificial Prime, made to fulfill the needs of the people and never to be corrupted by greed or other vile emotions. His creation would lead them onward and play the part of Prime until the war came to an end. This was its purpose, and while it was not what Ratchet would have liked, having his Prime wear the face of his oldest friend was both a comfort and a curse.
There was no time to mourn Orion Pax, all Ratchet could do was continue on pretending as if his friend still lived on in his creation for the sake of his own sanity.
A vorn and a half after the project began, Optimus Prime awoke on Ratchet's medical berth with only vague false memories of going to Primus's core to stop the dark energon from spreading. Careful to remain stoic, Ratchet explained all that had come to pass during the artificial Prime's absence and pointed out the Matrix within Optimus's chassis. It took a moment for Optimus's AI to settle and understand, but once everything clicked, the programming Ratchet put into place kicked in and the Prime was off to do his work.
It was certainly a little rough in the beginning. Optimus, despite having been cultivated so carefully was still not the best at interaction. The artificial Prime required time and lots of trial and error to have its AI grow and adapt, quickly changing to be what the Autobots needed. Before long Ratchet could even believe that his creation was a real living being with how it moved and acted, grieving over the fallen, giving hope to the Autobots, and showing courage and conviction like no other.
It was almost enough for Ratchet to forget that Orion Pax was dead.
However Optimus was still an artificial being and there were indeed signs that pointed toward its true nature despite Ratchet's efforts. Optimus didn't feel pain the same way others did, no, the pain it felt was all artificial and could be turned off if needed. During times of increadible stress or when Optimus couldn't afford to fall, Ratchet would quietly utter the command to have Optimus's ability to feel pain turned off. The ability startled the Autobots a great deal, especially when Ratchet forgot to turn the pain sensors back on, prompting Optimus to come to him in increadible worry wondering if something was wrong.
Optimus didn't know that it wasn't alive, and Ratchet couldn't afford to let his artificial Prime think otherwise.
Optimus also wasn't the best at recreating emotion, its AI simply wasn't structured with high emotional response in mind. It was meant to be stoic, unable to be traumatized but still capable of learning. This meant that while it developed and learned, becoming a better leader and responding to the emotions of others better, it had issues replicating other's emotions. It could hardly grieve, it could hardly feel joy, sorrow, or despair. The only emotion Ratchet allowed it to have hardwired was a sense of duty and failure when it didn't perform adequately.
There were other smaller signs, little things like the way Optimus would remain unconcerned by gore, illness, or death. But other than that, the Autobots accepted it, taking Optimus as their Prime without much question. The only one who suspected was Jazz, the other longtime friend of Orion. But even he, perhaps wishing for the entity that called itself Prime to really be Orion, never said anything. All the while Ratchet watched and gently directed Optimus, giving it commands veiled as suggesting and council and repairing him when required
Optimus was his machine, nothing more, nothing less... at least that was what Ratchet constantly told himself in order to not get attached. That is until Optimus returned to base with an actual sparkling in its arms and treated it with more protectiveness and love than Ratchet had ever seen his creation show before. Up until that point everything Optimus did was well within parameters. It fell within the lines Ratchet set, but as if touched by Primus, it suddenly stopped being an "it".
Optimus's AI evolved, and it, no, he changed. Ratchet could only watch on in growing fear, awe, and confliction as Optimus stopped needing him to offer quiet commands. The artificial Prime began acting like a living being, no longer confined by the coding that left him usually aloof and unbothered. The artificial Prime developed, becoming his own individual and never once suspecting a thing about what he really was. This alone nearly made Ratchet want to wipe Optimus's AI and try again, using injury as an excuse just to be sure his creation couldn't go rogue. He only stopped because of how happy Optimus looked as he played with the sparkling he named Bumblebee.
By the time Ratchet considered telling Optimus the truth if only to clear his own guilty conscience, he couldn't do it, not when Optimus believed every single false memory and lie Ratchet had ever told him. How could he destroy the artificial life he had unintentionally created? Optimus was meant to be a machine, a tool to be directed and used as required. The only reason Ratchet had made him believe himself to have once been Orion Pax was to make his acting more believable. But that one small decision had changed everything.
Optimus believed he was living, he thought he had a spark like other mecha and he behaved as such. Ratchet had to feed his creation more and more lies to constrain him and keep him from trying to create Amica bonds or other such intimate ties. He told Optimus the Matrix forbit it and even went so far as to knock Optimus offline and alter the faux Matrix's code so that it would keep Optimus from trying to connect to others too deeply.
If Optimus tried to bond with anyone, the results would be devastating. Even knowing this, it hurt Ratchet's spark to watch Optimus be forced to keep a wall between himself and the sparkling he had found. The artificial Prime still played the part of a Sire for Bumblebee, but he could never have the bond that existed between a Caretaker and their sparkling. Ratchet told Optimus this was due to the Matrix, but Ratchet knew this not to be the case.
Ratchet made a machine to lead the Autobots, but instead he had created an AI that believed itself alive. By the time the Allspark was sent away and the Autobots fled to the stars, the only thing that set Optimus apart from the true children of Primus was his lack of a spark.
No matter how much it hurt to look at the machine who wore his friend's face and identity, Ratchet couldn't tell Optimus the truth. Optimus didn't deserve that pain, not when he wept for the fallen, not when he fought with conviction, and most certainly not when he wished and dreamed with Ratchet on dark nights, imagining a better future. On such nights Ratchet liked to forget that the entity he was speaking to was one of his own make. He liked to pretend that it was indeed his friend who sat beside him and murmured softly the hopes he held of a future where their people were free.
After such interactions he often lay awake in his berth wondering if he had made the right decision and what Orion would think of him.
Coming to earth changed little. Optimus continued to act as Prime, leading them and fighting against Megatron as he always did. He took the children in with grace and behaved exactly as Ratchet expected Orion would have should he have been made Prime. But by that point Ratchet was too ridden by guilt to even dream of trying to wipe the AI that was Optimus or try again. Optimus was alive if only to the others, he couldn't risk everything falling apart because of the truth being exposed.
Then Unicron woke and everything began to crumble bit by bit.
Ratchet managed to hide Optimus's true nature by modifying the faux Matrix so that it could produce an EMP field strong enough to push Unicron back into slumber. But after the event Optimus began to suspect something was wrong with him, that he wasn't right. The abuse of the faux Matrix meant that it started to malfunction and Ratchet couldn't make any adjustments without drawing suspicions. He could only pray that Optimus remained ignorant.
Optimus was concerned, but with time he shook of the oddity of his faux Matrix and Ratchet breathed a sigh of relief... up until Smokescreen made his appearance and brought with him a container which had been welded to his back. Ratchet didn't think much of it once Smokescreen was confirmed to be from Alpha Trion. As such he removed the container and with Bulkhead's help, pried it open.
He regretted that more than anything else.
Within the container was the Matrix, the real Matrix. Every single bot in the base stood still as stone, all of them not wanting to believe it as they looked at Optimus. Ratchet wished he could scream as his creation looked the faux Matrix in his chassis and the real one in the container and passed out.

don’t like them but alicent’s children never stood a chance, man.
a sick, dying father who spends most of his time arguing with his wife over the succession, showing his support for his chosen successor or playing with his legos, leaving the parenting to his wife.
his wife who becomes a vessel of paranoia, anger, bitterness and hatred towards her husbands chosen successor and her successors to the point that she spreads rumors of life and death to the entirety of court AND her children that creates the violent environment that caused one of her children to lose an eye, forcibly trying to have her personal chosen successor become a usurper even though he does not want it so she starts using scare tactics that she learned from her father.
the grandfather that has a history of mental, physical and emotional abuse that seeped into his daughter, continues that history of abuse on his grandchildren because he does not want the throne, created the terrible situation that led to his daughter become queen and the vessel of negativity that spews to those grandchildren and does it because he wants more power than he already has ( which is A LOT for someone of his rank in their society).
and a random man who shares their mothers hatred and more for the kings chosen heir because the chosen heir did not run away with him, TRIPLING the amount of hateful talk and creation of harsh environments to the point that he only calls her a ‘who’re’ and ‘slit’ so that is all you address her as.
all of that only for the people who were suppose to care about you, can’t or won’t because they are all too obsessed with the chosen heir, her children, her vagina and who’s been in it instead of raising and aiding them in their lives that have now only become reflections of everything they have been force-fed since birth.
which is only made worse because the chosen heir and her children all love and care for each other to the point that they would die for each other even in the harsh circumstances that were made due to your side of the family.
they all realize at some point this is not normal but they can’t leave or change because their mother, their grandfather nor the random man will let them.
they never stood a chance and it SUCKS!

I think the Fnaf movie (and all the sequels it will inevitably get) is a great way to see what Scott views as the most important aspect of each character in the series.
Spoilers below.
Obviously, Mike and Vanessa are both very different here than in the games. Mike is (PROBABLY) no longer an Afton, Vanessa is definitely an Afton, Mike isn’t going by an alias, Vanessa is a victim of abuse rather than possession, etc.
In some regard, they almost feel like completely different characters (especially Mike). So with that in mind, when we look at the traits that these characters do share with their game counterparts, we can boil these characters down to their fundamentals (or at least what Scott views as their fundamentals)
Mike is riddled with guilt over the death of his brother, which he feels like he should have been able to prevent. Even well into his adulthood, long after the deed is done, he is still trying to fix what he perceives as blood on his hands, whether that is the case or not. This guilt often manifests as vivid dreams.
Vanessa is William’s reluctant follower. She has been manipulated into supporting him, even though she knows deep down how wrong her actions are for helping him. To aid him in his exploits, she takes up a career in a position of authority that lets her inconspicuously hang out around Freddy’s.
On a personal note, I think it’s interesting that these are the traits that Scott chose to emphasize between the two characters. While Mike’s relationship with his brother is definitely a strong part of what makes his character interesting, I’d argue that it is better executed in the games because there, he actually did cause his brother’s death and has reason to feel guilty over it. I also think that Michael’s dynamic with William is just as important as his relationship with Evan/Garrett/the Crying Child—William is Michael’s shadow archetype, he represents the absolute worst of what Michael could be. The movie completely lacks this dynamic, which makes their beef feel less personal despite the fact that William did kill Michael’s brother in this timeline (though I’d argue that that’s more the fault of the fact that William only has THREE SCENES in the movie total)
Movie Vanessa fares better, but mostly because she absorbs a lot of Michael’s role from the games by virtue of being an Afton child that lived past adolescence. I personally prefer her role as William’s successor rather than as a reluctant follower; copycat killers are a staple of the horror genre, and we are severely lacking in batshit crazy, irredeemable female villains in both movies and video games. That’s more what I was hoping Vanny would end up being in Security Breach, but I also acknowledge that that’s 100% just me projecting.
Unlike the two protagonists, though, William stays mostly the same between the movie, the games, and the books. I think it’s interesting that they chose to continue the trend of giving him an alias to hide under, while his real name is something of a dirty word because of everything he did. We notably don’t have proof that he did this in the games, and it’s got me thinking. Is there a named character mentioned somewhere in the games that’s actually just William under a fake name?
Who knows. Get speculating!
