A while ago I drew Lark's First Appearance versus Last Episode Smile portrait, and I wanted to complete the series. All three protags smile once in the last episode, and those moments say so much about them and their journey! I do think it's incredible just how messy all of the relationships are in this show. Lark is categorically incapable of having a healthy rapport with anyone. Weepe is extraordinarily abnormal about Saskia to the point that it's going to doom him. Phineas has the most convoluted possible relationship to/with Jonas. Midst is a show about connections and relationships and how necessary they are for not only survival but having any chance of living well, and it discusses them via the most buckwild, fucked-up people in the cosmos who cannot speak to another person without falling into the most intense interpersonal vibes imaginable. Trust fall indeed.
