ComuNet is an interesting mystery. From what I can tell, they were a visual novel publisher in the 2000s that helped release Phantom of Inferno in the US as a DVD game. Their old site also listed Vjedogonia, Hello World, and No Reality as future releases but ComuNet disappeared off the face of the earth before these came out.
Hirameki International, another early visual novel localizer, had some kind of connection to ComuNet as well. The AnimePlay brand that Hirameki later used in much of their marketing was seemingly first coined by ComuNet. And while ComuNet's copyright and logo is displayed all over Inferno's packaging, Hirameki is listed as the game's publisher on the back of the box.
I find ComuNet's brief history to be very interesting but there is sadly almost no information about them outside of what I just shared. But, if you want to read more about them, I created a page for the company on the Giantbomb wiki. The page also has a few of their ads for Inferno.

I read up a bit on the game rules to get the context of things/abilities, and with this context, tweaked the translations I made for better clarity and fixing some mistakes. I seemed to have gotten the overall ideas correctly, but sometimes mixed hand and deck, and things like that.
I also get what it means to Remove, or to Appear now. And what the different areas are.
There's actually already been three other non-het non-canon matching cards revealed in the recent deck: Gin & Camel, Akai & Amuro, and Sera & Shuukichi!
ah, sorry, op, when I say "pair cards" I mean not only similar illustrations, but that those character cards have: 1) matching/connected illustrations, depicting either a connected situation, same background, continued action, etc you have the sense they're part of one picture; 2) the card themselves reference each other in some way.
See, e.g., Heiji and Kazuha's pair cards (this is the parallel ver):

the illustrations are clearly connected, and if you look at their "abilities", heiji's card says (very roughly) "When the card [Toyama Kazuha] appears on your Crime Scene, you can choose a character with AP <8000 and remove it." Kazuha's card also says...a whole lot of things ;; but you can see it reference [Hattori Heiji] twice. First line is something like "when the card Hattori Heiji is on your Crime Scene, you can choose a card in the opponent's Crime Scene, whose ability will remain null until the end of the turn".
In the less rare format that is similar to Furukaza, is ShuuAke, also canon:

Here, as you see, Moroboshi Dai's card doesn't say anything about Akemi, only says you can remove an active character under level 8. But Akemi's says "Reveal cards in your deck one by one from the top, until the card [Akai Shuuichi], [Moroboshi Dai] or [Rye] appears, and add that to your hand. Put the remaining cards at the bottom of your deck and shuffle."
It sounds like a "get Akai" effect :D! Clearly matched.
This is basically the pattern for all of the pair cards of this pack, for all the canon pairs: ShinRan, TakaSatou, KaiAo, even Chihaya-Juugo. Common cards can also get a similar-ish treatment, like Kobayashi and Shiratori, where they reference each other, but the illustrations match to a lesser degree because it's all manga screencaps.
Shuukichi and Sera have neither matching illustrations, nor any reference to one another. Sera's card, for example, has an ability that is "Select up to one character under level 8, and remove them. This ability can be Declared if you have less than 5 cards in your FILE area."

Similar thing arises with Akai and Amuro, where the illustrations look a bit similar in style at first, but the cards are independent of each other. In fact, the Akai card refers to effects such as making up to 1 character from your hand and from the category [FBI], under level 6, appear on your Crime Scene. Amuro refers to making up to 1 character of the category [Café Poirot] under level 7 appear on your Crime Scene in specific circumstances. Neither of them restrict that to a specific character in the category, but they themselves don't belong in each other's mentioned categories.
For Camel and Gin, interesting, because the illustrations do seem to be part of the same scene in the FBI chase. But again, the cards are independent:

Camel (roughly): You may remove a card of the category [FBI] from your hand. If so, pull two cards.
Gin (roughly): When you remove a character from the opponent's Crime Scene through your own ability or effect, that character will keep the damage until the end of the turn.
And that's basically the pattern...But what happens with FuruKaza is more similar to Juugo and Chihaya, HeiZuha, ShuuAke, TakaSatou and co. The FuruKaza one looks like this:

The illustrations are clearly connected, whether it is the coffee can, the background, or the way the lighting shines on Furuya's left side vs Kazami's right side, meaning that Furuya is actually facing Kazami despite the framing.
Furuya's card indicates it has an investigation level/power (?) of 2, allowing him to look into cards from the opponent's deck, but "when the card [Kazami Yuuya] is on your Crime Scene, the investigation level/power is instead of 4. You can select up to one of the characters uncovered of the same level and remove them".
He gets a buff up from Kazami!
Meanwhile, Kazami has a "hirameki" effect which activates when removed from evidence, and it goes "within your Remove area, choose up to one [Furuya Rei] card, and add it to your hand." sounds like a "get Furuya" ability
Fun fact, that is the exact same hirameki effect that Juugo has, in reference to Chihaya.

Juugo: within your Remove area, choose up to one [Hagiwara Chihaya] card, and add it to your hand
So, yeah, not the same situation! And there are good reasons to go "huh?" at the FuruKaza one because it's really...a lone beanpole among the other canon pairs at the moment.... Makes one go "Official accounts, are you sure we can have this?"
But of course, nothing says this is the last time there will be partner cards in the TCG, so maybe more non-canon, non-het pairs will show up in the future. Personally, I'm still hoping for a GinVodka pair one day. (official twt account)
#the main mistake i spotted related to the 'hirameki' effect#which i still only partially get#but i have no idea why i said anything about 'discovery' it's when the Evidence you have gathered get removed#by the opponent#and then kazami's hirameki ability gets activated#so it feels like a 'get furuya to save you/help you out of a disadvantageous situation'#in a way#even tho. well. furuya doesnt get added to the evidence#he gets added to your hand#and only if hes available in the remove area#but it's still really cute as a concept#that aaah if your evidence gets stolen you can call a furuya!#but only when youre kazami uwu

Hirameki Action: Chibikko Wagyan no Ōkina Bōken (Nintendo DS, 2009) Part 10
Giving chase, Wagyan sees the doctor having some stomach problems, regretting his impulsive need to swallow ancient artifacts whole. Suddenly, the doctor begins to grow, and jumps out the ceiling!
Giving chase, Wagyan sees Dr. Devil has become Devil Man, the final genie he must beat to take back all the stolen wisdom. It truly is the final battle!
Minigame after grueling minigame, save state after save state, great music and determination, Wagyan finally defeats Devil Man, and retakes the artifact! It flies into the air, and fireworks explode, ending with a cute Wagyan-shaped explosion of fireworks!
The wisdom returns to the villagers after the big machine crashes near their village, and the artifact is safely returned to them. Peace is restored! But what if Wagyan? Those ungrateful kids don't even stop to think of their lost friend!
Turns out Wagyan is okay! But he's stuck in space, and floats off after shouting "The End!" The ending screen taunts me, promising another game, but as far as I know this is the final game in the series. And with that, every Wagyan game sans the first Wagyan Land has been google translated by me! This has been a great journey and I'm finally glad I can mostly understand the story and lore behind Wagyan. Here's hoping a new game will come out someday! I really appreciate anyone who’s read this blog, and hope that more people can give the series a try. Who knows, Wagyan got a cameo in others games, even as recent as having a skin in Pac-Man 99 for the Nintendo Switch. The End, Wagyan.

Hi! I really loved the “Platonic! Sano "Mikey" Manjiro x Brother! Male! Reader” fic you made! I wanted to request headcannons or a scenario of Izana x Brother male reader. Izana finding out he has a younger brother(reader is younger than him by a year)from his bio parents? After reader was born, they give him to a different orphanage and he was adopted by another family. Izana finds out about his existence, after Shinichiro’s death. And maybe how Izana would treat him/interact with him(fluff if possible)? I’m sorry if this is a little too much.
HIRAMEKI
It's an idea that comes suddenly, like a flash of clarity that makes everything easier.
Pairing: Platonic! Kurokawa Izana x little brother! Male! Reader.
Warnings: (M/n)'s orphanage is a mess, bad language (?). There's no established timeline, but it's before the Kanto accident; Izana is 16 and (M/n) is 15. It starts off a bit angsty and ends in fluff. The reader is shorter than Izana.
Summary: Izana discovers his younger brother thanks to Shinichiro's death. What does he do to be with him, and how does his routine change?
English is not my first language, any spelling or grammar mistakes please let me know.
Thank you for placing your request! I hope you like it. ^^

Shinichiro's death hit him like a bucket of cold water; the last time he saw him, they fought, he even hit him and complained about things that were out of his control.
And if that weren't enough, the same day he learned of his death, an envelope arrived at his apartment. Tears escaped from his amethyst orbs. Inside was a record of some Yokohama orphanage (thankfully). At first, he didn't quite understand what it was about until he read the boy's name.
Kurokawa (M/n).
Apparently, he was his biological brother. The product of his father's second affair with the same woman who gave birth to him.
His first thought was to abandon him. He hadn't known about his existence until now, and he didn't need her. After thinking about it for a few seconds, an incredible idea appeared.
He could be for (M/n) what Shinichiro had always wanted. He could teach him everything he knew and, with luck, convince him to corrupt Mikey together.
He finished reading the record; he was a year younger than him, so he was about fifteen. He also found the orphanage where he was staying, as he wasn't old enough to leave yet and no family had shown interest in adopting him.
Without telling Kakucho about his plans, he got on his motorcycle and headed for the orphanage. He had spoken to the orphanage beforehand, because as he remembered, when he was there, people who wanted to adopt had to make an appointment.
He couldn't help but wonder what kind of security checks they had there. He asked for (M/n), making sure his brother was in the orphanage. He gave a brief explanation, indicating his interest in taking him home. The secretary didn't ask him his age, where he lived, or anything like that. He could even tell she seemed happy to be rid of the boy.
In less than half an hour, his motorcycle was parked, and he was walking to the orphanage's reception desk. He frowned as he took in his surroundings.
The paint was beginning to peel in the corners of the walls due to the dampness, stains of dirt decorated the carpet on the floor, and the few pieces of furniture were wooden and chipped and broken. A middle-aged woman sat with a mirror in her hand, her dyed blonde hair damaged and her lips painted bright red, trying to remove a piece of food stuck between her yellowed teeth. Disgust flashed across Izana's face, feeling sorry for her brother.
He cleared his throat, making his presence known. The woman gave him a critical look before speaking. "Do you need anything?" Izana let out a nasal sigh, urging patience.
"I spoke with you a little while ago. I want to meet Kurokawa (M/n)." The woman's expression quickly changed, taking on a much more "friendly" stance.
"Oh, sure! Give me a moment so I can go inform you and let you in." He left the mirror he was holding on the counter and ran out.
Izana continued looking around; his nerves were starting to get to him; he hadn't doubted his decision until now. Just at the right moment.
───────────────────────────────────
(M/n)'s POV
You've been in an orphanage your whole life, you'd been to almost every city in your prefecture, you didn't last more than three months in a home, you didn't know why.
It's not like you got into mischief or anything. You actually considered yourself a calm person; you didn't like loud noises, you weren't picky about food, you didn't cause much trouble, you were quiet most of the time, and yet you always found your way back to where you started.
The children were cruel to you, making fun of you for coming back a thousand times; sometimes it was because of your unusual appearance in Japan. You knew you were Philippine, but you didn't understand what was wrong with it. You didn't bother others, yet you were still the target of ridicule.
All the orphanages you'd been to had one thing in common: they were disgusting. Some were disgusting in the way they treated the children, others in the horrible environment they lived in, and others had horrible people and a horrible environment. There was no middle ground.
Now, at fifteen, all you could wait to be of age and be able to get out of this place. Being adopted wasn't easy, but it was much harder as a teenager; you understood that. If you were an adult wanting to adopt a child, a teenager would be your last option.
You were lying in your (not at all comfortable) bed, staring at the cracks in the ceiling; your classes were over, and you didn't feel like going out and being bothered again.
The door to your room burst open, startling you in the process. "They're coming to see you. Don't mess this up. I don't want you back in my orphanage." Miss Kanami always scared you; maybe it was because of the hits she used to give you, or the yelling she always gave you, or maybe it was just habits you couldn't shake.
You didn't have time to respond when she left the room; you quickly straightened up and ran your trembling hands through your white hair.
You jumped out of bed and ran to the mirror in your room to try to get the wrinkles out of your clothes.
You cursed under your breath at your outfit: sweatpants and a loose T-shirt; just today, you had to think of wearing the worst clothes you had in your closet.
The sound of the wooden door being knocked on your face. Your nerves were on edge. What if they didn't like it? What if you came back to this place? What if they got angry at your unusual behavior?
Miss Kanami and a boy who looked just like you entered your room; your breath caught in your throat for a moment. Who was he?
"Hi, I'm Kurokawa Izana." You tilted your head, confusion etched on your face. "Hi, I guess you already know my name, but I'm Kurokawa (M/n)." You introduced yourself as well.
Awkwardness began to dance in the air; both pairs of amethyst eyes stared at each other intensely. "Are we related or something?" you dared to ask.
Izana nodded slowly; he seemed just as nervous as you. "Yes, I'm your older brother." You took a few seconds to fully understand the information; everything you'd ever wanted was right in front of you.
Suddenly, Izana was slightly pushed away by the force with which you ran to hug him. He froze, not knowing what to do.
A warm feeling spread through his chest; your head was right there, you lightly rubbed your cheek against his chest, your eyes closed.
Slowly, Izana wrapped his arms around your body, tightening the hug you'd formed a little. He rested his head on yours; like you, he closed his eyes, letting himself be carried away by the moment.
Tears pricked your eyes; you didn't want to let go of Izana, afraid of letting go and discovering it was all a dream.
"Do you want to come home with me?" Izana's question sounded silly; how could you pass up this opportunity? "Yes, please." Izana felt his heart being tugged at; the pain reflected in your beautiful eyes ached.
Just as he thought, the woman who helped him (whom you later told him was named Kanami) only made him sign a paper, and soon you were packing your few belongings into a single backpack.
You climbed onto the motorcycle, flattering Izana in the process; both of you had smiles that hadn't faded since you broke away from that hug.
You hugged his waist to keep from falling, leaning your cheek against his back. "This isn't a dream, is it?" you murmured.
Izana placed his hand on the grip you had on him, patting you lightly. He was going to be what Shinichiro couldn't be.
The nerves that had initially invaded him quickly disappeared; you captivated him from the first moment; you were so similar that he loved it.
He wanted to take care of you and love you as much as he could.
───────────────────────────────────
The first person you met was Kakucho, who was waiting for Izana outside her apartment.
The two introduced themselves, and Kakucho couldn't help but be surprised after hearing the kinship they shared.
Izana showed you your new room, and the three of you began putting away your things, making the duo of friends make a mental note to go buy you some new clothes.
You were happy with the change; you had a brother who loved you, a home to come home to with joy; it seemed like a dream.
Clearly, Izana's routine underwent extreme changes. Starting with his wake-up time, Neither he nor Kakucho still went to high school, so their days started at nine or ten in the morning, but (M/n) did go to middle school.
He started at seven-thirty, and to be on time, he had to leave Izana's apartment by seven.
His phone's alarm went off, and with a groan, he slammed it off. He wriggled in his bed and closed his eyes again.
It was the same in your room: the alarm went off, you turned it off, wriggled, rolled over, and went back to sleep without a care in the world.
Both brothers were snoring with singular joy; it was Kakucho who entered the apartment and woke them up with his shouts.
Izana ran out of his room and into yours, almost falling to the floor from the speed at which he turned around.
"(M/n)! It's late!" He came in shouting. You jumped up, your hair a mess, and you covered your eyes. "Oh!"
Kakucho tried to hold back his laughter; both brothers had sleepy eyes, messy hair, and clumsy movements from sleepiness, and neither of them had the slightest idea what time it was.
"It's so late!" Izana shouted again. "Late for what?" You replied, rubbing your eye to get rid of the remaining sleep.
"For your school! It's... ten o'clock!" He paused briefly to check the time on his phone. Both of their eyes were wide open in surprise. "Fuck!" "Language!"
Both wished that little incident had been the only one they'd gone through in the first few months. But no. It definitely wasn't the only one.
One ordinary morning, Izana woke up frowning at the smell of burning that was beginning to invade her lungs.
Before he could react, you slammed his bedroom door. "Nii-san! Nii-san! Help!" You climbed onto his bed and started shaking him awake.
"What's going on?" he asked sleepily. "The stove's on fire!" Those words were enough to send him flying out of bed.
The two of you ran down the hallway, into the kitchen, and found a burning pan on the stove. "What happened?!" he asked, pouring water into the pan.
"I tried to make you breakfast, but it suddenly caught fire, and I didn't know what to do!" You kept passing him glasses of water so he could finish extinguishing the fire.
"It's okay, it's okay. Didn't you get burned?" He grabbed your hands to examine you for any injuries, letting out a sigh of relief when he saw you were unharmed.
"Sorry," you murmured, your face downcast. Izana couldn't help but compare you to a scolded puppy. "It's okay, (M/n). Let's make some breakfast, shall we?" He tried to comfort you.
The two of you started cleaning the kitchen before you could start another recipe. Fortunately, Izana was good at cooking.
Breakfast turned out well, and you were able to enjoy it amidst laughter and other mischief.
Nighttime was probably Izana's favorite time; he could relax in the comfort of his bed, maybe watch some TV, and finally fall asleep.
As for you, nighttime wasn't one of your best times; Loneliness was never your strong suit; you enjoyed Izana's company more than the darkness of your room.
You liked it; Izana, Kakucho, and you had decorated it to your liking; it was comfortable, and you loved the new things they'd bought you.
What you didn't love were the nightmares that reminded you of your time in your orphanage. The hurtful comments, even the beatings.
But there was one nightmare that had been recurring lately. In it, Izana was the protagonist.
He would come into your room and tell you to go with him somewhere, without giving you any clue as to where it might be.
You would fall asleep along the way, and when you opened your eyes, you were back in the orphanage Izana rescued you from. Miss Kanami glared at you with hatred, as did your brother.
"I want to get rid of him. I can't stand him." Izana's words were dripping with hatred. A chill ran down your spine, and you watched in pain and surprise as your brother turned around and left the orphanage. "Nii-san! Don't leave me!" you cried, waking from your sleep. Tears trickled from your eyes; you jumped out of bed and walked to Izana's room.
You opened the door slowly, wanting to see if your brother was asleep. You walked slowly to his bed, gently shaking his shoulder. "Nii-san, Nii-san," you murmured. You were embarrassed to have to go to your brother's room to get some restful sleep.
"Mmm." Izana groaned, shifting his body so he was on his side. "Nii-san," you murmured again. "What?" Izana half-opened his eyes, trying to make out your figure in the darkness.
"(M/n)?" he asked. "Can I sleep with you?" you asked softly. "What's wrong?" Izana moved aside, giving you his nonverbal consent to sleep with him.
"I had a bad dream," you whispered, playing with your fingers. "Okay, come on." He lifted the covers, and you lay down beside him.
Slowly, you settled in and shyly hugged him. Izana reciprocated, and they soon fell asleep.
The next morning, Kakucho was again the one in charge of waking them up, clearly after taking a photo to annoy Izana later.
It had been a change in routine for both boys, but honestly, neither of them minded it. They loved you from the first few days, just as you loved them.
