even if he 'likes' your muse, do not expect him to treat them kindly or like they're special because he won't. even if the context surrounding their relationship with him goes a certain direction, he's still, by and large, a god who simply doesn't conform to any morals or expectations of him. his affection is as visceral as his loathing, as violent and messy as his hunger, iron fist as merciful as it is punishing. it's not that he doesn't know how to be any different, it's that he won't compromise his nature to sate the insecurities and haywire emotions of another. he has nothing but time, he will move on, find someone else to bother, because he can't and won't be swayed. he's almost entirely impossible to love unless you get real open and accepting of his nature, and by this i mean you literally give yourself to him in every way: you let him quite literally eat you while fucking. cannibalism as love / love as cannibalism is how he loves. it's the only way he loves.

Fuck It Friday!

Congrats to us for surviving premiere day! Celebrating it by sharing some of what I've dubbed the Secret Wip. Blame my co-conspirators @hippolotamus and @slightlyobsessedwitheverything, and read this snippet by Hippo for some context. Tagged for FIF by @wildlife4life and @alliaskisthepossibilityoflove (I'm sorry if this isn't your thing guys!)

Eddie rubs his thumb over the stretched skin soothingly and he leans forwards to press a small kiss just above her belly button. “Better?” he asks, eyes flickering over her face has he scrutinizes her expression. “Yeah, it’s fine now,” Shannon replies, rubbing her belly thoughtfully. “That was fucking sore though.” “What was sore?” Shannon groans as Tommy’s voice floats down the corridor, and a second later he walks into the lounge, peering at them suspiciously. “Jesus Christ, not you too! I’m fine, people!” Shannon glares at Eddie, as though it’s his fault her uterus suddenly decided to become active. “Is she fine?” Tommy asks, directing his question to Eddie because he knows as well as Eddie does that Shannon likely won’t admit she’s in labour until the baby is crowning. Eddie – a trained medic who has delivered many a baby – is apparently a reliable source when it comes to his wife’s status. “I guess?” Eddie shrugs, and out of the corner of his eye he sees Shannon nod resolutely. “It didn’t feel as hard as contractions usually do. Probably just Mr Sir rearranging himself and causing a Braxton Hick’s.” Tommy tuts and drops to his knees beside Shannon. He taps her belly three times with his knuckle and clears his throat. “Theodore, this is your father Part Three speaking. I’m going to need you to stop partying up in there. It’s uncomfortable for your mom and makes her very cranky.” It’s a testament to just how pregnant Shannon is that Tommy doesn’t get a clip around the ears for the last comment. Instead, she smiles at him fondly and gives his head a little shove. “You’re such a dork.”

Margaret was finishing her sandwich and doing some light reading when Balthazar, Ursula, Hero, and Claudia burst in. She marked her page with her thumb, still chuckling.

“I don’t think we can wait longer to unveil the plan,” Ursula was saying. “Claudia, text Lee and Pedro, tell them it’s Go Time, we need to—” She broke off, glancing down at Margaret’s book and then back at Margaret’s face. “Were you laughing at Nietzsche?”

“Only the funny parts,” Margaret explained. She straightened. “What’s up?”

“What’s Go Time?” said Hero.

Ursula tapped the side of her nose. “We’re waiting for our co-conspirators.”

Lee slipped into the room a minute later, looking harried. Pedro followed on her heels, exuding a much more put together vibe, which was saying something because he had apparently come straight from the shower and was wearing only a towel.

“Friends, students, co-opers,” Ursula began, “lend me your ears. I need you all to come together to help me save my butt, and help Beatrice and Benedick realize they’re just nuts for each other. Which they obviously are, so this plan is clearly a net good, and we don’t need to examine it further than that.”

“Aren’t they, like, locked in enmity?” Balthazar ventured. “Also, how is your butt on the line?”

Ursula threw an obvious glance at Lee, who frowned. “As your house president, I’d say don’t anwer that,” Lee told her.

Balthazar glanced between them. “Is this one of those things I’d understand if I paid more attention?”

“Oh,” said Hero. “I don’t think so. I pay attention all the time, and I’m lost. Benedick and Beatrice?”

“Think about it, though,” said Ursula. She wiggled her eyebrows.

Hero shook her head. “Gross, she’s my cousin.”

“I meant romantically, not sexually.” Ursula wiggled her eyebrows again. “See? Romantic.” Wiggle. “Sexual.” Another, identical wiggle. “There’s nuances.”

“No, there’s not,” said Pedro. “They’re the same. Wait!” He leaned in to study her face. “Do it again?”

“Wouldn’t they be cute together, though, babe?” said Claudia to Hero. “It would be like one of those unlikely animal friendships at the zoo.” 

Margaret waited for Hero’s reaction, impressed with Claudia’s line of reasoning. Hero gave off powerful waves of someone who googled “unlikely animal friendships” every morning before breakfast and again before bed.

Sure enough, Hero clapped her hands together in delight. “Oh! Like a hippo and a tortoise,” she cooed.

Nobody else in the room reacted to this, or the obvious and confusing mental images.

“Who is who,” Margaret demanded.

“Can I point out the obvious?” said Hero. Margaret patiently waited for Hero to say, like, ‘my cousin is obviously the tortoise of the pair’ or ‘Are you kidding? Beatrice is such a hippopotamus, toe to tip.’ “They’re adults,” Hero continued. “Technically. They’re not—Barbie dolls for us to toy with.”

Margaret groaned. Trust the psych major to turn a promising performance art piece about the nature of love and facades into a bunch of handwringing about ethics.

“We’re not saying full-scale mind games,” said Pedro. “Just a little nudge. Don’t you think, under all that bluster, Beatrice and Benedick might actually—”

“Huh,” said Hero thoughtfully. “...huh.”

“Huh?” said Balthazar, at last looking up from his phone.

“Are you paying attention?” asked Lee. She sounded like she’d aged about fifty years since the start of the conversation.

“No,” said Balthazar. He held up his screen, where he had Spotify open to a new playlist he was making: CO-CONSPIRATORS.

“I uhm-… I might have to reenlist if I don’t find a job soon” Eddie says, dragging his hands across his face, feeling a few beads of sweat forming near his temples. He doesn’t want to reenlist, he doesn’t want to leave Christopher behind again, he can’t do that to him. Not when he moved to another state just to be able to keep seeing him. Shannon had gotten a job offer that she couldn’t refuse and Eddie had willingly accepted that if they were to co-parent, he had to come with them.

And the last thing he’d expected was to meet someone as amazing as Buck, so loving and caring and kind and so proud of who he is. Eddie wishes that he could be like him, be happy with who and what he is. Surely, he’d come out to Shannon and Christopher but not to the world. He wasn’t ready for that. Maybe he’d never be ready and that scared him too because Buck…Buck makes him feel whole.

And even though he wasn’t ready to share his feelings with the world, he knew that he didn’t want to leave Buck behind either.

The concern spreads instantly across Buck’s face, forming deep creases on his forehead and even small lines around his eyes. “I won’t let you do that, Eds. You can’t do that to yourself. Or to Christopher” or to me, the last part remains unspoken because he knows that he might just be pushing Eddie away instead of holding him close. “There has to be another way”

Eddie exhales deeply, the fear almost palpable as he stares at a blank space right behind Buck’s head. He knows that if he looks at him for too long, those soft, blue puppy eyes will win him over. Without a doubt, he knows that he’s in love with Buck but he doesn’t know how to show it. Yet.

Instead, he reacts in a manner that he can only recognize as coming from his father. He halfway flies out of his seat and drags his fingers almost desperately through his hair. “Don’t you think that I’ve thought about that? Do you think I want to leave my kid behind again?”

Do you think I want to leave you behind?

“That’s not what I’m saying, Eddie. I’m saying that I want to help you” Buck replies, not reacting to Eddie’s outburst but instead stretches his hand out carefully, touching Eddie’s side with his fingertips.

Oh.

The silence lingers for a moment before Eddie speaks again, this time realizing that maybe he has to react differently. “I’m just-…”

“Scared. I know. But we can work it out. Together. Okay?”

“Okay” Eddie agrees despite the fact that he’s fighting every fiber of his being. A real man doesn’t need help from others, his father’s words echoes in his head.

Glass joe - He likes keeping his palette open for anything but he still sucks ass at anything, but exceptionally likes party games/co-op stuff

Von kaiser - Really likes portal & portal 2, really enjoys puzzle games with some lore in it, also likes games with strategy included

Disco Kid - has a very wide range of games he enjoys, but prefers chaotic games (goat simulator, cooking simulator, etc) and enjoys chaos in general, especially enjoys phasmophobia

King Hippo - thinks papa's pizzeria and the other sequels are neat, likes flash games

Piston Hondo - loves rhythm games, like project sekai and rhytm heaven, also has a knack for horror games

Bear Hugger - sucks at games but also enjoys party games, hes really good at tetris though

Great Tiger - likes farming games and finds the peaceful aura they have interesting

Don Flamenco - sims player, can and will go all out on packs & expansions and mods his game a lot, has whlcked whims on his game and gets jumpscared anytime he forgets to turn off autonomous actions

Aran Ryan - Really likes sandbox games that really have no aim and goals, enjoys random stuff

Soda Popinski - likes simple games like tetris & candy crush, give him anything more complex than that and he'll lose within a second

Bald bull - prefers not to play video games as he has broken monitors before, but sometimes plays the sims and sets everything on fire for no reason and sometimes joins the others when theyre playing multiplayer stuff

Super Macho Man - only plays games made for him/ inspired by him, no free advertising

Mr Sandman - has a knack for chaotic games, especially multiplayer ones, usually plays with the rest of the WVBA, thinks pokemon games are nice

The Kendal carriage is the target and it’s passing through tonight. He only has a few more minutes to get Chris back to bed. His son is seven and far too young to understand the delicate nature of Chim’s career and his own part time occupation.

“Hey Buddy, you’re meant to be asleep.”

“Why are you wearing all that black?”

That’s Chris, always with the questions. He’s son has a sharp mind and Eddie thinks he’ll have a sharper wit than his father later too.

Two steps forward take him to where Chris is standing on the stairs and he scoops him up in his arms. Their home may be small but it’s warm and welcoming and it’s his. His forge is attached and they’ve made it their own over these last five years. Eddie knows how lucky they are to have found this small village and made it their home.

“I’m wearing black because it means I don’t have to wash my clothes all the time.”
