After spending literally multiple days and nights listening to hours of new music, here are my thoughts on what the Protocol playlists might tell us about the characters. I'm gonna break it down by large themes and I'm putting it under a read more bc I don't know how to not ramble about this. its SO MUCH

Hers is the most self-explanatory. Girlboss is girlbossing and paying for it. But I did pick up several nuances.

Gwen is: Cold, power-hungry, and ambitious (you should see me in a crown, Are You Satisfied?, Severance theme). Suffering from her own hubris (Oh No!, Gasoline). Sam makes ridiculously long playlists, like me, so this entry is gonna be long, but the emotional vibes were pretty easy to pick out once I got through it.

The most mysterious new member of the OIAR, her music choices are appropriately enigmatic. The Vibes make me excited to see what she's hiding under the surface.

Celia is: Raring for a fight (Seven Nation Army, Rumble, know your place, Run from Me). Fed up with the system (Blood//Water, Run You). Bold, sexy, headstrong, and self-confident (Creature, Took A Trip, River, Do It For Me, Aerials, Uber). Struggling against supernatural influence, feeling trapped and helpless (Mama! There's a Spider in My Room, Where Is My Mind?, I Feel Like I'm Drowning, Closer, Space Dementia, Rain)

So we've all but confirmed the theory that she's from the OG Archives timeline and that she has continuing ties to the Web from passing through Hill Top Road. I think we have hints here that she's manipulating the others, but I also think there are signs that she's fighting her own battle against an evil trying to take her. There also seems to be an overarching theme of water in many of her songs for some reason 🤔

I can't wait to get more of Celia. Even if she is lying, I'm rooting for her (<hoping this doesn't come back to bite me in the ass)

In conclusion, I love them all already your honor, and I want to thank the cast for putting such loving care into crafting these for us. Thank you for such great food to feed our wild theorizing.

Satoru i think, does a little bit of everything - nor is he shy to try new music. He's the kind of guy who recognises every song that plays - wherever it be, radio, malls, restaurants, he een knows the elevator music so...yes. At the same time, i think he'd also just...put everything in his 'liked' playlist💀and call it a day. In particular i feel Satoru is Kendrick guy? and also Doechii? but when in feels, i think he also pulls out some Sufjan Stevens and Finneas as well lmao (i think teen! Satoru would also have Cavetown and Arctic Monkeys in his playlists) although i don't think he'd play their songs on his head but unironically knows every lyric and bobs his head to all hot girl music (nikki and britney and megan, the entire bunch lol) Definitely an ABBA guy<3

Suguru Geto:

As i've stated many times on my blog lmao, Suguru would probably be a Hozier and Lord Huron guy - it's the arsonist vibe that makes me say this? and the slight rebellion but that's just me. A huge 70s-90s sucker actually, and Nirvana - he is the guy who won't ask you to name 5 songs but looks at you and judges you with the assumption that you don't. Teen Suguru would get down to fight you if you said you were a bigger MCR fan. I think he also is a vibe to Florence and the machine or Mitski (just again, his vibe - idk if he'd listen or whatever) I think Suguru would fw indie bands too - GROUPLOVE and Peach pit being major artists there, maybe some drifting Yot Club or Cleffy too Also again, a Kendrick guy - i just think Suguru is the kind who enjoys the lyricism that goes in the art yk? be it whatever genre. Unironically began to listen to Mother Mother after leaving and just...never...stopped. He is the kind to have 50+ playlists (listen to the same 5 on repeat though) i also think he majorly judges lana listeners

Kento Nanami:

Hmmmmmmm, i feel like - i don't want to stereotype - but he stays away from the new music? idk how to explain (hates ice spice if you catch my drift), he definitely doesn't mind rap music but again, wouldn't play it on his own. As it is a fanon thing anyways that Kento was emo so i mean, you've got MCR (you know he never refused to jam to Teen Spirits with Suguru<3) - fall out boy, maybe paramore? on his playlist. but i do believe older him would have shifted to elvis maybe? not a major jazz guy but enough to prove a point lol. Teen Kento would in fact ask you to name 5 name songs and would be proud of listening to under-rated artists (and roll his eyes when Satoru would do the same but, for some overly-hyped artist of the time). I think Nanami isn't huge on music anyways though - i do see Satoru listening to music 24/7 (don't ask why but smn to do with his infinity) and Suguru too plays it a decent amount but for Nanami, his music app opens 2 times a week lmao <3

mmmgh hello maggots the monster was a dreadful idea i cleaned a lot of my room and i made the weird post and i've been trying to gather quotes for another post, but the crash is fucking real...

today i made friends with a baby. i was waiting for my mum outside a store and sitting next to me on the bench was a lady with her baby and i said hello to him. he stared at me a good deal before giggling and hiding his face in his mum's abaya.

i made faces and stuck my tongue out and he kept staring and sometimes bursting into a little smile. i spoke to his mum in my shitty Hindi and we talked about the weather. when she had to wear her hijab, she handed the baby to me to hold, and he sat on my lap, wriggly but patient for a good few minutes. luckily she was finished by the time he got cranky, and he resumed his perch on her lap, watching me intently.

his sister arrived after a bit, and she was shy and perplexed, asking her mum who i was (random dude just sitting and talking to the baby, understandable confusion there). she said i was a friend. the little girl was extra confused, and asked whose friend, and her mum said i was the baby's friend.

i've begun reading anansi boys. the first line is it begins, as most things begin, with a song. thanks to @neil-gaiman i now know two facts about beginnings: there is a song, and it is in a garden. about endings however i only know one thing: it is also in a garden. i am as yet unsure about the song part.

i read a post about how we need to remember that, in the end, the good omens show was created for terry by neil, and that's what matters. the video did make me cry. a few days ago i'd read a bit of the amazon sample of the good omens tv companion, and i was reminded of it, so i spent the past couple of hours converting the screenshots to text (a difficult task when you're as incompetent as me) to share those paragraphs with y'all.

in the process however i was gripped by the ol' anxiety and existential dread, and so here i am, writing another of these pointless posts (i don't mean that in a self-deprecating way, i mean that the point of these posts is that they have no point, they're just really stream of consciousness). to talk to you, or the silence, whoever listens.

it's nice, to be listened to. i always thought what i wanted most was to be seen or to be known. but maybe at heart what i really wanted was to be listened to.
