Good News, Anime Fans! Shiro Emiya and Hina Kyan Are Accepted Into My Saturday Night Anime Nightclub! (Also, Welcome Back To The Saturday Morning Block Party, Kana Koumoto.)

Hello, anime fans. I am Gabriel Ramos, DJ and broadcaster of Toon Time Theater. I was planning March's T3 lineups only to be met with three new faces, as well as a familiar one.

I said earlier to not expect anything much from my Saturday morning cartoon block until the 404 TOON RESET (Error Toon Reset) arc of Toon Time Theater ends, right? Turns out, Kana Koumoto wanted me to re-broadcast the final three episodes of the FLCL series, FLCL Shoegaze, starting 15 March. Just for that weekend, I will pre-empt BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS and set up W Dose broadcasts of SWORD ART ONLINE just to get caught up with the Aincrad arc re-broadcast at my own pace. W Dose BORUTO broadcasts will return the two weekends following it, leading up to the upcoming U-PICK poll. They will replace HI SCORE GIRL and SWORD ART ONLINE by then.

As for More One Night, two more programs are confirmed for the block. The first is Fate/stay night (2006), replacing one of the BLUE EXORCIST time slots for 22 March 2025. The next is The other is OKITSURA: Fell In Love With an Okinawan Girl, set to replace BARTENDER: Glass of God the same day. You may be thinking, "is OKITSURA educational or informational?" Turns out, it is. I make it a practice to live-stream an hour of educational and informational (E/I) programming before the main meat of the cartoon blocks. OKITSURA is one of them, as it teaches viewers the difference between the normal Japanese dialect and the Okinawan dialect, as well as how life in Okinawa goes for the average resident.

Speaking of More One Night time slots, I only added an extra hour for 29 March 2025's broadcast to accommodate the NARUTO Mini-Marathon, as I wlll remove the program after episode 53. If you still want more NARUTO action, consider watching BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS on Saturday mornings during Toon Time Theater’s Saturday Morning Animation Cram Session.

winter season wrap-up

hanashura (8/10) ok damn that final ep!!!!! rare W of an extended cast where i liked basically every single member but mostly the absolute brilliant seiyuu work in this paired with the visuals during recitations made this an absolute joy to watch + various shades of sibling drama esp!! what's brewing w hana + shura we only got crumbs of i need it IMMEDIATELY thank u. okitsura is my personal aots but this was hands down the best show that aired this season <3

okitsura (8/10) easiest AOTS ive ever seen. i wanna visit okinawa so bad now it was so fun to learn abt all the little culture things and i love uchinaaguchi pronunciations!! solid gags allround, the animation took a lot of shortcuts but at the same time was stupidly elaborate at the most random moments. this also had better romcom motion than aohako (lol) we love 2 see it loved every second of it nd kyan in particularly was concocted in a lab for me <3

chikyuu no undou ni tsuite (8/10) objectively closer to a 9 but it didn't quite worm my brain enough for that which feels criminal to say!!!! clear vision and flawless execution no notes this is a must watch for anyone who likes historical fiction/cyclical narratives. best op two seasons in a row too i love when they keep the song and just update the visuals :3.. i think this season just put me in a bad mood so i'm rating meanly lol

100kano (7/10) another season of the horny girlfriends show, it hasn't lost its charm but it's also victim to the highs and lows of how much u enjoy the individual girls esp as scenes become more crowded. hakari horny antics remain my raison d'etre and i have to give a special shoutout to the hair tentacle segment. been thinking abt it nonstop in ways i am not publicizing thanks w

ao no hako (5/10) ended up being way less than the sum of its parts in a rly frustrating way. making it a standard love triangle just felt so... dated. hina should have been aroace is my thesis thx, however one thing i did enjoy was having a sports focused show that did not spend entire episodes on every minutia of a match. more of that

sakamoto days (5/10) probably wld enjoy the manga more since most of the gags felt like they didn't gain anything by being animated. solely in this for shin+lu ngl lol we love a mind reader x brawler girlie dynamic for no reason in particular :3x

First Impression: Okitsura: Fell in Love with an Okinawan Girl, but I Just Wish I Know What She’s Saying

Teruaki Nakamura is a high school boy whose family just moved down from the Japanese mainland to the sunny southern island of Okinawa, and even in that short time, he’s fallen in love with a bubbly classmate named Hina Kyan. There’s just one catch: he can’t talk to her—literally. Hina defaults to the old Okinawan Japanese dialect of Uchinaguchi and has a *very* thick accent to boot. She’s effectively unintelligible to a mainlander who grew up on textbook Japanese. But luckily, Hina’s BFF Kana Higa is usually on hand to translate. Of course, there’s a wrinkle in play given that Kana is crushing on Teruaki, so we’ve got some love triangulation here. Doki-doki and hijinks both ensue as Teruaki manages to get hit with every case of Okinawan culture shock in the book, from activating the “Higa” Trap Card to accidentally shouting “I love you” in Uchinaguchi, to getting buried under a small mountain of sata andagi donuts. The episode ends with a hint the next episode will include… Honestly, we don’t know what, because Hina explains in Uchinaguchi, which the subtitlers have transliterated but not translated as part of the joke…

zenshuu, was my high profile high hopes pick and while the animation is stellar that is about the only redeeming quality it has. the problem with getting reincarnated into a shitty isekai anime is that. it's still a shitty isekai setting like they could've given any of the charas actual good designs and i wld be all over it but it's so fucking bland im sorry. doubly offended bc they have the Designated Refined Magical Archer Girlie that cld have been the highlight of my season, alas we will sideline her as is the trope. kys. also the way the zenshuu overhaul is used has been.... so boring..... i thought she'd be doing actual environmental/story retcons rather than Summon Monster That Wipes Out Enemies. what a waste

okitsura, singlehandedly swung this season around for me. okinawa language+culture focus, solid love triangle, stupid humor (a zombieland saga AND evangelion reference in the first episode alone) it's so fucking good. kyan's design is also @/me in ways im not getting into rn but i am EATING >:3

aquarion (myth of emotions) ok listen i went into this unaware it was part of a franchise. am now debating whether to go back and watch prev installments since apparently they are somewhat standalone nd this show gave enough of a gist that i'm not totally lost. just hard to tell if it'd be more enjoyable with full context or the other way around where it leaves me wanting to discover the full story after the fact. thinking on it. also the soundtrack goes HARD
