Uhhhh Saves...are you alright?

[Faint bubbling and gurgling noises can be heard from the bucket on the floor as Black slowly awakened. An appendage peeked out of the bucket, then another, pulling Black's melted body out of his container- which toppled over sideways from the weight.

The shapeshifting mass poured out onto the floor, before rising, forming itself into the shape of the gentlemanly Sprunki which everyone was familiar with. With a yawn, he stretched out.]

Black: "Motherfucker, that was actually one of the best rests I've had."

[He opened his eyes, only to be greeted by a not-so-pleasant sight; Saves had collapsed onto the floor, covering his face as his eyes overflowed with tears. Beside him was Sprinkles, who had her hands nervously holding onto him.

Hearing Black's voice, she turned towards him, the concern etched in her expression.]

Sprinkles: "G-Grandpapa Black...Grandpapa Saves is sad again..."

Black: "Oh, no..."

[Almost instantaneously, Black hurried over, rushing over to Saves' other side before placing his hand on the lavender Sprunki's shoulder.]

Black: "Hey, Saves...Saves, you okay? Look at me..."

Saves: "...B-Black...?"

Black: "Yes, yes, it's me. C'mere."

[Black wraps his arm around Saves' back. Saves curls inwards, his paws trembling as he grips onto the fabric of Black's suit.]

Saves: "Black...I-I'm forgetting..."

Black: "Shhh, shhh shhh...come on, breathe with me. Breathe..."

[Black directs Saves' gaze towards him as he demonstrated slow breaths, guiding Saves to do the same. Saves was still trembling as he inhaled and exhaled, tears flowing down his cheeks. Sprinkles found herself mimicking their breathing patterns as well.]

Black: "You'll be alright, Saves."

Saves: "...my name..."

Black: "...your name?"

Saves: "...I- I need to remember...my name."

[Black paused. His eyes trailed off for a moment as he too struggled to recall what Saves' name was. He knew that Saves was a nickname, and long ago he'd heard him utter his real name. But it had been a long while since then.

Awkwardly, he leaned over, facing Sprinkles.]

Black: "Kid."

Sprinkles: "Y-Yeah, Grandpapa?"

Black: "You uh, happen to know ol' Saves' full name?"

Sprinkles: "...um, it's Lou...something...?...I know it ends with Emfield, but..."

[Black sighed lightly as he continued to hold Saves close.]

Black: "Does he have any ID cards anywhere?"

Sprinkles: "...I'll look for them, Grandpapa!"

Black: "Yeah, please do."

[Sprinkles nodded as she hurried off.]

???: "YOU ALREADY KNOW MY NAME FROM ELSEWHERE.

I WILL NOT SAY IT AGAIN."

???: "...NO ONE ELSE, TRULY."

???: "MR. EMFIELD HAS RAISED HER SINCE LATE INFANCY. HE CHERISHES HER. HER NAME SLIPS HIS MIND, AND YET HE STILL RECALLS HOW MUCH HE LOVES HER. TRULY REMARKABLE."

I had assisted with his memory loss long ago. I took him to the Big City frequently, getting him tested and having multiple things prescribed to him. Initially, it worked. But it seems that he's at the stage where even the prescriptions stop working."

[Clukr sighs wistfully, crossing his arms as he looked up at the ceiling.]

Clukr: "The collection is all he has, I suppose...he's grown quite old by now."

I feel like... Perhaps... Arguing that transphobia is defined by murder and that anything other than murder doesn't even matter... May NOT be conducive to fighting for trans rights.

Like... people want the right to exist as they are. They want to have access to hrt and surgeries and prosthetics. People want access to clothes that fit them and reflect how they want to be seen. People want access to medical care (eg. Getting screened and treated for sex-based forms of cancer can be impossible if you have the "wrong" sex listed to receive those tests). People want to be respected and treated well. People want to not be sexually assaulted and beaten and abused. People want to have access to housing and jobs, and the protection to not lose those things for being trans. People want access to shelters for homeless people or survivors of domestic abuse. People want name changes.

Acting like all of those things don't matter because at least they weren't murderered by an individual (and instead die of suicide or state violence, or survive and suffer) isn't okay.

Ok, I was joking with this post the other day, but it turns out I actually do want to talk about whether fucking would have fixed them.

I've seen the take a few times that what makes Silverflint work so well is that it lives in the subtext*, all tension and denial and repression, and if they fucked it would ruin the dynamic because it would be resolved.

And not to make this about me (I'm gonna) but as someone solidly at the intersection of old, slutty and queer, every time I hear this I think about my personal experiences adding fucking to intense, ambiguous relationships in stressful situations where communication about feelings was already not great.

Zero times did it fix anybody.

See: Vane and Eleanor. Also Max and Anne. Incompatibilities in goals, values and worldviews are not resolved by fucking. The work of relationships is different than the work of sex, and in some ways much much harder.

*disclaimer that shouldn't be necessary: subtextual queer relationships in media are great and valid, that is very much not what I am taking issue with.

I've seen a decent amount of (valid) critique about the episode yesterday regarding the fact that they're using mara's trauma for drama. I still have beef with tim re: the dog (because firstly you shouldn't be comparing a little black girl to a dog and secondly my hen wilson would never). However, my major problem with yesterday's episode didn't exactly stem from the fact that theyre awakening mara's trauma for the plot or making her get taken away from the wilsons.

The thing about it is, as heartbreaking and upsetting as it may be to see this little black girl experience even more trauma than she's already been through, none of the things that have happened to mara are uniquely as a result of her blackness. What happened with her parents could have happened to anyone - even though she was probably uniquely disadvantaged due to her race after the incidents.

My major gripe with this episode (and the reason why Tim is gonna catch my hands) is his wider treatment of people of color throughout this season. It would have been one problem if councilwoman ortiz was a one off latino villain, but this episode came right on the heels of a cartel episode, in a season where i've seen many latino people critique the treatment of treatment of the shows main latino character and his plot lines.

I'm basically saying all this to say that when the day of reckoning comes and we all meet tim minear in the abc studios parking lot, black and latino people should lead the charge and everybody else can start whooping him after we get our licks in FIRST.

I don't know, how CAN I be the fan of a book series talking about kids being forced to grow up too fast due to being a part of a war that has been going on for longer than they're alive, trying to defend their home against an invading force?

Seeing how this situation affects their mental state, world view and relationships with each other? Not being able to fully trust anyone else because they can turn out to secretly wish for your demise?

How can I be the fan of a series that mirrors the way I grew up, of feeling scared and lost and small but knowing that you have to keep going because there's no other way?

Knowing that the other side has people who are like you, who never really wanted to hurt anyone but are being forced to fight too, who were brainwashed from birth to not see people like you as people?

Knowing that innocents die in war, that cruel, messed up, unjust things happen in wars but not seeing another way forward?

Wanting to save your loved ones who are now being kept hostages?

Is Mamba destined to die after killing the Phoenix, or would Zor keep her around to do other things after the fact? Would they keep their test tube baby around after they've done what they've been built to do, or would Zor drop them off on the side of the road in a cardboard box

Very interesting question! I think because of Zor and Mamba's relationship... if Mamba managed to kill Phoenix, Zor would have ordered to kill them immediately afterwards.

The main thing here is Zor is... more or less disappointed with Mamba's whole existence. They're not Phoenix, no matter how hard they'll try. It's not the same. The reason why they haven't disposed of them already was because their indestructibility makes it a little hard to do so. While that in on itself is actually really helpful in the field, it quickly became evident that Mamba's just too emotionally fired up about getting Zor's approval and killing Phoenix that they're willing to be very reckless and very destructive. Zor hasn't tried to reign him in themselves, more due to the fact that they hate his guts so much they don't WANT to interact with him ever. It's up to Sans and his team (honestly, mostly Schaden) to try and temper him.

Obviously Zor gets enraged at the fact that they didn't get to kill their most hated enemy, but that failure of an experiment did--I think they'd take it as an insult to be honest. That's why they've been sending her to secret assassination missions far away from the Phoenix's possible locations.

Just imagine Mamba showing them her kill, Zor would bite back their rage and ask how they did so (without so much as a thanks, but Mamba doesn't notice because "Finally, they're talking to me!!") and when Mamba details everything, Zor uses that information against her. Dead and dead. I don't think they'd want to keep them around just because of the stuff above ^^^. It's not logical (wasting an extremely loyal indestructible asset?) but the principle, I feel, is more important for Zor (they don't have to give that imperfection the satisfaction of a compliment). Also they're just. not Phoenix. They want Phoenix.
