3 of them!
The third and final part of turning me and my siblings into demon slayers: my brother! He’s the only one out of the three of us that exercises regularly and actually does martial arts so he gets to be the strongest :P he’s also the tallest, like 10 whole inches taller than both me and my sister but he’s actually the middle child! And he’s only a year and a half older than me :)
For his weapon I wanted something similar to a staff but also containing a blade, because he showed me some staff forms one time for his martial arts club and it was really cool :0 so I’m not sure how viable the twin-blade staff would actually be in battle or how it would be made (but if the sword smith village can make kanroji a whole whip out of a metal blade then I think they can definitely make a scabbard out of metal). The way it works is that when sheathed, the blade is a full staff, and either side individually can unsheathe to make a spear. It can also separate down the middle to become two swords, which is much more effective for traditional breathing styles. Shougen is the only one strong enough out of the siblings to fight effectively without the assistance of wisteria poison.

Actually this is so crazy, but my political activism isn't actually based on what will personally benefit me or if I'm rewarded for it, but is in fact a reflection of my moral compass and what I think is right. Way to tell on yourself that your political views and activism are 100% based on other people's approval and what you think will personally benefit you best, though! Couldn't be me.

just a few little bits from the past few days
#both the word count screenshots are from the same day - just different sections of the text. so that was like 4000 words in#one DAY.. huzzah!! (< making up for the fact that I did 0 words the 3 days before that lol.. so its not actually an accomplishment ghjjh)#In renpy I think you can have multiple separate texty cody whatever documents and still jump between them so long as they;re#labeled properly. Rather than like... having one extremely long 60.000 line file where in some places youre in a menu within a menu#within a menu within a menu within a menu within a menu within a menu jhbhj#But that was the way I started doing it lke 5 years ago when I actually made the base of everything so I feel like it'd be too much#work to change it all that dramatically now. But that means I cant just get the word count for the whole document I just have#to jump around to the few sections I worked on and highlight them to get the word count for only that portion#.. the one tiny fraction of the whole monster text wall. Dropping in to say I watched the 2011 Much Ado About Nothing and I’m a changed person. New piece of favorite media unlocked. I’m gonna be insufferable about it to my friends. I loved the 2019 version clips you posted and I’m definitely going to try and find a full version of that as well. Also want to read Hamlet bc everything I read about it sounds insane. I liked Shakespeare as a kid until high school english made me absolutely hate it, so thanks for helping me get back into it lol.

#my process for consuming a shakespeare play for Real is i pick an adaptation to watch first#then i pull up the text and watch it again but like pausing to make my notes on characters/lines/production choices/etc#sometimes i go onto genius.com for the annotations for added context/meanings to help if i don't get what's going on#(that worked best for hamlet though the other ones are a bit more sparse)#then i watch it a third time w all the knowledge in my brain. Then i move onto watching a bunch of other productions#much ado#ws#i was fortunate enough to have my shakespeare enjoyment be based off of english/literature teachers i had that were really good#i got really attached to hamlet when i was learning it in high school then i got really attached to it again when i learned abt metatheater#but yea the most common thing i see re: bad english teachers putting ppl off shakespeare is that they make u read the text#instead of watching it. Or if they do make u watch an adaptation it's one that sucks and is boring#so like on my own time i make sure the adaptation im learning the text off is interesting and also good

More sketchy employee profile images. Mostly made to be able to replace the picrew I had in the template I made since I can draw. I did end up just putting it as back and white though but the color is just nice to have. At the bus stop one time there was a gaggle of preschoolers waiting to catch the bus for a field trip day, and someone walked past with a couple of friendly little dogs, to great general delight.
But after a little bit, the dogs were getting overwhelmed, and the preschoolers were gently coaxed to back off so the person with the dogs could continue on. Specifically, one of the preschool teachers said, "Sometimes, when you're small, being surrounded by big people can be a bit scary and overwhelming. Even if they are friendly."
This was recieved as great wisdom: after all, the preschoolers were also small, and understood how scary and overwhelming big people could be! And the dogs were indeed even smaller than the preschoolers, so it made sense.
What was funny and charming was that, upon absorbing and reflecting on this wisdom, they all felt the need to tell it to one another. In tones of great insight, they turned to one another and said, "Did you know? Sometimes when you are small, being surrounded by big people can be scary and overwhelming! Even if they are friendly!" Back and forth, without any particular concern that they were all saying the same thing. Have reached comprehension of an insight, it must be shared!
I must say that this behavior is less charming in tumblr users than in preschoolers. Not least because tumblr users, having gained a little analytical skill to misuse, insist on Summarizing and Generalizing and Unifying the insights they repeat, quickly turning any interesting new information into formulaic dogmatic mush.
#i made the mistake of looking in the notes of the beach sand post i reblogged to see if anyone else had interesting comments#And the rate at which it went from like#1) person states with moderate confidence an opinion based on their personal observations#2) multiple people reply with “wow thats so insightful!” (aka it aligns with my preconceived notions of how things work)#3) someone else adds additional personal observations which are not really relevant but which can be absorbed into the narrative#4) people start outright stating the underlying belief on which this bias is constructed as if it were a fresh insight#5) general derisive attitude towards people who haven't seen the Obviously Correct solution to this complex real world problem yet#It's very.......#It's not like it's a high stakes post but it's such a microcosm of the whole dogmatic phenomenon#Also this js a more specific gripe to My Field or w/e#But the degree to which people react to the problems caused by the whole “Control of Nature” era of engineering#with this equally reductive “Nature will Fix Everything” type of attitude#Is sooooo frustrating.#Yes a great many of our current problems could have been avoided if we had not made massive changes to ecosystem processes on the assumptio#That they were simple and we understood them. And that they would respond in predictable ways.#the simplicity in retrospect of “wow we Should Not have done that” does not mean that they are simple to undo!#You can't go back in time. You can't turn back the clock on chaotic processes#Which is. Almost every process ever.#Restoration is hard! Returning to previous regimes of sediment or flooding or fire is tricky and full of foibles!#Moving towards a future which doesn't suck as much even if the past cant be recreated is also uncertain and difficult!#It's frustrating to see people act all high and mighty about how they Respect Nature unlike whoever is making all these decisions#When their understanding of the natural processes in question is AS simplistic as the people who caused the whole mess back in 1910 or w/e#Like I'm not saying there's not bad interests standing in the way of functional restoration on all levels#That's very much a fight to be fought.#But looking at that fight-in-process and saying “wow none of you Respect Nature like me uwu let nature fix it”#Is.#Ugh.

Just to clarify I don’t like doodles as a breed they but that is a can of worms I’m not gonna open here. But bc of Harriet’s fear of being a wine mom I thought it was a funny choice. (Ps I love Harriet they did her so dirty in s3 it actually pisses me off)
None of them are really height accurate. I wanted joan to be this giant wolf bigger than everyone else for symbolism idk
Clothes wise theyre all nakey now. Some of their accessories like confucius’s fanny pack made it into the design. Mr B kept his vest and bow tie. And I edited topher/scudworths coat/shirt to resemble those vests for nervous dogs. Cleo keeps her all of her jewelry except for her gold armbands which I moved to her ankles. It’s hard to see in the sketch but Mr b has a crooked jaw to try and resemble his static mouth in canon, and not shown he only has three legs.
Added leslie like anyone gaf about her (me and two others) speaking of her I could not figure out what to do with that stupid ass sash thing so it’s now a gold buckle on her collar. What the hell is that thing why did they draw it on like that around her fucking shoulder it pisses me off

I’m gonna say this once:
Disney has only put out one (one) live-action remake, and that’s The Jungle Book, because they also had a Jungle Book live-action film in 1994, starring Jason Scott Lee, Cary Elwes, Lena Headey, Sam Neill, and the mustache on Sam Neill’s face. Also I think King Louie was Dunston from Dunston Checks In. There were no songs, the plot was very different, and it disappointed and fascinated me as a kid.
Then they made another live-action version with Idris Elba and Bill Murray and...ScarJo as Kaa. Yeah.
That was a live-action remake, because it was a live-action Jungle Book but made fresh.
What everyone is calling “remakes” are actually just “live-action adaptations”. They change things, they reinterpret, they’re generally nowhere near as good as their predecessors, they’re probably mostly used for guaranteed cash injections and IP renewals, but they aren’t “remakes” any more than a high school performance of The Wizard of Oz is a remake. And mine had two different actresses for Mrs. Gulch and the Wicked Witch of the West (as many do). Also, Professor Marvel was a woman.
In summary:
While I understand the eye-rolling behind live-action adaptations, especially from greedy megacorporations who should pay their writers more and not cancel shows from their exclusive streaming services without offering physical releases, I also find myself thinking “I hope they make twenty more remakes of the movie” every time someone complains about “ruining the original”.
#it's all just the same story#you get to rank them all based on the adaptation level#I think there's just a primal threat that people perceive#a ''nobody's stronger than my dad'' sort of thing#you're all worried that people are going to love the new one more#they won't#but just...enjoy the moment#be like ''hey that girl really hit that note'' or ''wow that scene really translated well'' or ''hahaha wow they messed up THAT bit''#just like a high school play
