first attempt at a g3 cupid because I got thinkin about the possibility of g3 cupid
Tumblr media
explaining my choices (even though I'm gonna do a 2nd attempt at this and change some stuff)
ditching the bone elemental thing because tbh it's pointless and whilst I love her in mh I think at this point most people view her as the eah version of her
so like yeah she's just a cherub demigoddess now
I tried to still keep elements of her g1 design but I went pretty casual with her outfit because that's just the vibes of g3 designs
she's very pink and cream and soft and frilly because that's the vibes
kept the arm and leg ombre thing because I think it's kind of iconic and I just like that thing with character designs but I need to find a way to make it clash less
her boots were gonna be platforms but then I thought as just heeled boots they were kinda giving like pixie and I thought it was cute
yeah that's it
oh she has a face I just only drew the eyes because this is essentially a sketch
and she has short hair because I think it's cute and need g3 to release a doll with short hair already

the monster high x ever after high crossover movie will FOREVER be my roman empire.
like yeah we got the legend of shadow high and it was a really fun read, but i would've given ANYTHING to have a proper crossover special between these two franchises.
especially because cupid and boo york boo york have established that these two schools do exist in tandem with each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
we were genuinely ROBBED.
the only downside to this i can think of is that the movie was supposed to be in the style the mh movies were so like, the eah girls would've looked pretty fucking ugly, but that's not important.

People say things like "ugh im sick of all these high concept horror movies :/" and then refuse to watch a slasher movie from the 80s with a budget of $100, about $70 of which was spent on the camcorder and the other $30 on fake blood

OK this mighty be a somewhat strange comparison but Krupp and Captain Underpants's transformation and dynamic is literally just Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde but in a different font.
Like that sounds strange but there's some similarities here:
They both suffer from having to endure a forced transformation into a different person.
Said person is the complete opposite of themselves.
(Krupp is grumpy and mean to kids/George and Harold while Captain Underpants is nice, cheerful, and treats them like friends/sidekicks)
(Jackson is studious, follows rules, and is dependable but Holt is rebellious, and unreliable)
When they're back, they don't remember anything that happened.
The only difference in this comparison is their age, the settings, and the circumstances as to why they have the ability to turn into their respective alter-egos.
And of course that Jackson and Holt are aware of each other, but Krupp and Captain Underpants are not.
Now I'm imagining an au where Krupp and Captain Underpants are aware of each other and they're struggling with trying not to turn into each other (when in teacher mode or superhero mode). Meanwhile they're trying their best to actually communicate with each other via leaving sticky notes and recording themselves to explain what happened when the other was gone.

Alfred Burke puts on his best policing face as Parisian detective Inspector Maron, in Overseas Press Club - Exclusive!: The Billion Franc Mystery (1.6, ABPC, 1957)
#fave spotting#alfred burke#overseas press club exclusive!#the billion franc mystery#1957#classic tv#public eye#abpc#an obscure series‚ even by the standards of pre 1960s telly. OSPC was a coproduction between Ardleigh Films and Associated British Pathé#(they of the famous news reels‚ and themselves a subsidiary of Associated British Picture Corporation). a year or two later and this#would probably have been made in house by ABC themselves‚ but the franchise was only a year old at this point and still finding its feet#the concept is simple but promising: each week‚ a member of the Overseas Press Club of America (a real and still extant organisation) tells#a tale from their careers‚ an unusual instance or shocking event that makes for good tv. these tales are true! says the narrator in the#show's opening moments‚ and these ppl exist! frankly that's something i take with a large grain of salt; whilst some stories certainly have#direct factual origins (there's an episode about a catholic priest going undercover with a gang of street toughs which ends with footage of#the actual figure that inspired the ep) but others are highly questionable (the first‚ about a Norwegian resistance fighter who has plastic#surgery and takes the place of a relatively high ranking nazi officer; i feel like that's something that would be better known‚ yknow??)#this ep is about a nazi plot to destabilise the French franc just prior to ww2; quite believable and certainly the nazis did dabble in#producing counterfeit money‚ tho the examples i found online all relate to pound sterling or latterly the us dollar‚ not the franc)#our journalist of the week is played by Lee Patterson‚ a minor film star in british b movies at this point‚ with swooningly handsome Anton#Diffring (who had fled nazi persecution himself) as the villain. Alfie's part is pretty small‚ he's just the french cop keeping every one#in sight and letting events play out (cue some wonderful Alfie cheshire cat grins). Patterson (and maybe Diffring) got to fly out to actual#real Paris to film some location work and establishing shots (a benefit of making a series about the OSPC was that they arranged flights#for cast and crew). poor Alf didn't get a holiday tho; his scenes are conspicuously studio based‚ even when he's meant to be on the banks#of the Seine...#so yes‚ a fun little series‚ even if (so far) the wide scope of potential stories does seem to favour ww2 stuff. good luck finding a copy#tho; it took me months of trawling to find a reasonably priced 2nd hand copy (Amazon currently have a copy for £79.99 which.. for 2 discs#is kind of insane). a victim of the price gouging which seems to have affected some of the lesser known network titles since their#dissolution. sad times for the fan of painfully obscure old tv.. if I ever learn how to make things be on a computer‚ tho‚ I'll happily#share

Spaceman (2024, March; Netflix)
Tumblr media
Why does Hanuš the space-spider never call Jakub the Czech cosmonaut, Jakub? And Hanuš instead keeps calling Jakub "skinny man"? I don't protest this about the movie. No, I think I love it.
Also I love how all the dialogue feels translated. As if it's not natively written in English. The post-neo-Soviet vibe, it fits the narrative so well.
In fact I think I'd love watching the movie with Czech audio and English subtitles. I wonder if that's possible... I suppose it's subtle but it would require me hunting for the Czech audio, which I'm 99% sure exists.
I also love the movie's subtext-dialogue about the notions of love, relationship, loneliness, attachment, self-centeredness, touch, beginning & end, cosmology, and so on and so forth.
So much to think about. It's like, I myself had to watch this in a couple of sittings, and I just had to watch it like two, three times to catch what I want to catch out of it...
