Found a book that summarizes literature and literary figures in text form, and the Byron one might be the best thing to ever happen.

"Did you just know the chapter numbers from the top of your head--" Yes. Yes, I did. I made Chapter 27 my final oral project for my Computer class a couple years ago. The whole thing is engerained in my brain.

Chapter 26 and 27 of Shadow High are so good and I will NOT take critisism on that. Brooke begging her parents to narrate her so she can become a character in the story she's been telling and running to (and climb onto) the literal threshhold between narrator and reader while the world is ending so she can LITERALLY pause the entire World of Stories and everyone in it and have full control over the timeline just so she can keep repeating and rewinding that one moment between now and the end of the world to find a way to save the characters she loves from certain death so they can actually go and prevent the apocolypse as they are meant to and give the story a happy ending is really really good and also a VERY good climax to the story that they've been building up with Brooke up to that point within this book. She becomes a connection, a cumulation between all three things in this book; character, narrator and reader, in one chapter. I think I can make a pretty good point that Brooke is the main character of this book. She is the one the blurb mentions, she is the only consistency between every single chapter, we always get insight into her thoughts and feelings in every chapter thanks to the footnotes. Brooke and her thoughts and feelings are the only thing that really covers every inch of this story, you always know her point of view, everything else about the pov she narrates is, by comparison, messy, and I think that's on purpose. The pov character fluctuates as it does in the books before, but with the difference that there's more people now and the pov switches FEEL chaotic, like she's doing them without purpose other than she knows she's supposed to. She does literally say "hey we should probably switch to EAH at this point--" after narrating MH for three chapters and has to look through the characters to figure out WHO is best to narrate right now. She has a whole arc she goes through over the course of the story, she has character development, she becomes more sure of who she is as a person and a narrator and I think those two chapters are where all that reaches its climax.

Anyway I really love Shadow High. Good book. You should read it. Brooke is favorite character in everything ever.

Hi this is so silly but I’ve been following your blog for such a long time and i don’t remember why I followed you bc we don’t have any fandoms in common at all, But I really enjoy seeing you so I’m just still here learning a lot about ever after high and other things and I’ll probably be here for a while but I wanted to tell you at my new job the floral department gets a shipment that wrapped in like crime scene looking tape but instead of like a warning printed it’s a rose and I had to do double take bc it looked similar to me how brooke is depicted if that makes sense, like I only of Brooke bc of you and I saw this lil rose image and thought “That’s Brooke from eah” sorry this was long I just really wanted to share it with you

The non-angsty version of the start of the consequences would be Brooke starting to narrate before her parents yell her name and ask her what she's doing there on the screen/page and she's confused until she looks down at herself, then around, and then just goes "oh, that's probably not good"

Brooke becoming interwoven into the fabric of EAH's reality SHOULD BE actively changing what she is and what she's made of, she's entangling herself into what she loves for the sake of making sure everything will be okay always. In Shadow High she literally became a character to save the world, I think if Brooke came to EAH it would right after that. She'd passed the threshhold, she was literally ink on a page, she was a character, for a brief moment, she was part of the world by virtue of having a chapter in the same book. And now imagine her wandering through the Land of Narrators, feeling more disconnected from it, until one day she narrates another story and her voice no longer comes from nowwhere, until she herself is standing on new ground, until she realizes she cannot be seperated from the pages of the world she adores and is forced to walk among people she would do anything for, and nobody has any idea where she came from, and her parents have no idea how she got there, she was just next to them, and she just slipped out of their reality with a single word.
