Instead of framing it as "male lonliness epidemic" we should focus on how one: being a "man" in white American culture in particular is a deeply isolating experience and two: being isolated is like the number 1 thing that leads people to joining cults or otherwise adopting pretty horrific ideologies

Like theres guys out there who need help but feel they can't ask for it because it will make them seem weak and that goes counter to their idea of what a Man should be. This hypothetical highly isolated guy who is suffering in silence finds the wrong message board at the right time, and then he gets lead down a really dark path. Almost entirely because of toxic (white) masculinity

Idk what the solution is, since obviously women don't owe it to men to be therapists and educators, but also these guys are often either unable (broke) or unwilling to see therapists. I'm just saying words on the internet.

Sometimes i see posts that are like. Making fun of the fact people draw the line for a lot of stuff in horror media at incest and im like. Well yeah it's a little odd to treat this one taboo as uniquely awful, all of those things listed can ruin someone's entire life, that's why it's in a horror story. It's supposed to be horrific, right? Incest and CSA ruin your ability to make proper relationships as an adult-

And then I look at the notes and people are calling incest cute and wholesome and saying there's nothing wrong with it and i go. I need to leave immediately actually you aren't engaging with this topic in a way I'm comfortable with.

Its good for the soul to be rabidly in lust with someone who is just sort of objectively weird looking I think. Once you can withstand being bullied by your friends for liking a weird bald video game man or fixating on an actor from the 1920s because you are legitimately attracted to them, you have another layer of fortification around your gooey center that will give you more needed form and structure to your Self.
