Could you elaborate a bit on the idea 👀 (as Louis’ characterization, not as a spoiler!)

Jacob's actually talked about it a few times in interviews (and in classic me form, I can't find where now, haha), but Louis as a character needs friction. He needs conflict, he needs a challenge, he needs passion, and I think it's a really vital part of the texture of him.

Louis' a character who, in his human life, was both oppressed and repressed, and I think that actually sort of dovetails inside of him. On the one hand, I think it's absolutely soaked him in shame about his own identity and leaves him restricting himself in order to find something he feels might be good and true and holy in himself, but on the other hand, I think it's given him a drive and a hunger to not just prove himself, but win. He doesn't just want to survive the circumstances he finds himself in, he wants to thrive in them. We see that over and over again, from The Azaelia, to the way he flaunts his new wealth and family (in that order) in front of his sister after feeling she's rejected him, to the way if he can't be good at photography, he doesn't want to do it at all, to leveraging power through Armand over the Coven.

Louis doesn't so much want to control situations in the way Armand does, Louis wants to be challenged by them and he wants to beat them. It's why when he does win, when he has all the things that he wants, he gets bored. (And also, perhaps, leaves all the guilt and shame to swallow him up) Hell, it's why he invites Daniel over for the interview two times over - the first to bait drama and conflict back into his life by trying to goad Lestat out of hiding, and the second by being the drama and conflict himself by lobbing a journalist-shaped grenade into his own marriage.

Louis' an intelligent, passionate character, and I think that manifests in his ambition, but also his choice of partner. He chooses people who are different from him, I think, because he wants the conflict, which is why Armand moulding his personality around Louis' was never going to work. And if Louis can't find the conflcit in a person, he's going to make the conflict! Which he does! Over and over! He will be the drama he wants to see in the world if he has to be, haha, he just usually relies on Lestat to bring it to him instead.

Mytho fans id like to issue a formal apology. I realized I, too, know how it feels to have your special little guy mischaracterized and trampled over by his own damn media and now everyone hates him but YOU understand you understand him and they’re wrong they’re all wrong and also there’s this other guy everyone insists is better like it’s a competition and it’s really annoying and you just want everyone to see your pookie bear the way you see him. I understand. I’ve always understood. I am a better man now.

I've started playing Potion Permit, and so far it's one of my favorite games I've messed around with, but the most big brained move the devs made was giving you a dog on day 1, and then making that dog able to track NPCs and lead you directly to them no matter where they are in the town.

rue nation wake up, new rue au just dropped!!

actor rue. famed for staring in a lot of wild horror movies (all directed by upcoming director, enver gortash. dont look too closely at their relationship)

she makes a great final girl and an even better killer. looks hot covered in blood (its why gortash always has at least 2 scenes where shes drenched in it)

over time she starts feeling as if shes trapped in the roles gortash writes for her (she hasnt properly expanded out into other genres / working with other directors because why would she? gortash gets her vision)

but she decides to give it a shot. notable newcomer wyll ravengard is making a rom-com that sounds super fun to be apart of so she auditions and gets the lead role. (really, rue? you're supporting nepotism in the industry? and here i thought you wanted to help me break down the system - gortash, most likely)

and then there's gale dekarios, who got his start in theatre but managed to make the jump to the big screen. stuck in getting type casted as "romantic leads friend" and he wants to prove that he is a good actor. he went to drama school! his mentor was the mystra!! let him act, godsdamnit!

he auditions for the other main role in wyll's upcoming film and gets the part!

and then rue and gale meet and its really great and their chemistry both on and off screen is amazing.

rue gets him gigs that push his range and gale starts getting her non-horror related roles (much to gortash's dismay). and then... they fall in love 👀

shoutout to @kaleido-scope-lady for yapping with me about actor rue last night. honourable mention that her oc ophelia is the one to push rue out of horror by tweeting that she "has no range" and "doesnt understand the genre"

hiii this post contains huge spoilers for ep 22 of the golden palace, so don’t read / watch under the cut if you’d like to avoid that!!

to the rest of you… hi. I NEEEDDDD to talk about this scene right here (excuse the quality, unfortunately I couldn’t find a better source):

you already know what I’m going to say.

Firstly: this was incredibly satisfying to watch & hear. It’s one thing for Dorothy to berate Stan but BLANCHE? Somehow it’s almost better. Because Dorothy has some empathy for him, being the father of her children and all, but Blanche? All she’s ever known him for is continually hurting and lying to her best friend / the divorce / walking out on her (as she mentions, quite boldly, but I’ll touch on that in a moment) / using her (Dorothy) for money or attention KNOWING that she’ll give him her time when she shouldn’t (when she’s already said goodbye, Stanley.) / cheating !!!more than once!!! / the list goes on.

I get the feeling, as Blanche goes on getting progressively worked up thinking about all the shitty things Stan has done, that she’s been waiting YEARS for this moment. Not for his death, but for a moment where she can finally bask in the knowledge that he can no longer hurt Dorothy, or his children, or their family. He is gone. Gone gone gone, for good.

what really got me was the silence, her tone, and the look in her eyes after “[he] walked out on your daughter.” That silence was loud. And whether it was an attempt to get Sophia (who’s not nearly as numb to Stan’s shenanigans as Dorothy was, but still let him off the hook much more often and for longer than she should have) to finally see him for how awful he was, or if it was coming from a place of genuine anger that she hadn’t had the room to express before; the emphasis on that line was purposeful. It healed something in me 😭

There’s also an emphasis on “finally gone” , which leads me to assume Blanche, although she would never say this out loud, might be a little relieved by the news? And with all that she said being true, I can’t blame her. It’s not like she had any important connection to him anyways, the one time Dorothy thought she might have slept with him ended up not being the case at all - she’s hated him since the beginning and it’s so nice to finally see her getting her moment of “yeah, since no one else wants to say it: this dude fucking sucked and shouldn’t be glorified now because he died.” No redemption for Stan!!!! Blanche gets it!!!!! he was an ass and now he’s dead!!! (Or so they think. 🙃)

To elaborate on my ruekirtho throuple thoughts, sometimes I think about a world where their shared love for mytho brought rue and fakir together instead of driving them apart. They’re both incredibly lonely kids who have lost too much and, as much as they care for mytho, a heartless doll isn’t replacement for real human companionship. So they find each other.

Rue knows it will never last. No one beyond her Prince will ever love her. She sees the way Fakir throws rocks at the flock of crows that gathers around her. When he discovers her identity—and she knows he will discover her identity one day—they’ll go back to being enemies. He is the Knight and she is the daughter of the Raven, his killer. Still, it’s nice to have a friend even for a little while. So she lets herself forget. She forgets who, what, she is. She forgets that there was ever a before. She forgets that they won’t last.

Fakir knows there is something very, very wrong in Rue’s life. He sees the deep scratches that stand out against her almost unnaturally pale skin. She speaks in a hushed tone with a haunted look in her eyes when it’s time to go home. She won’t tell him anything, though. He doesn’t even know where she lives; it’s as if she disappears at the end of the day. He just hopes that one day, when it comes down to it, he’ll be able to protect her from whatever haunts her.

By the time the story goes into motion, the two, along with Mytho, are near inseparable. When Mytho begins regaining his heart, Rue and Fakir work together to put a stop to it. When Rue begins losing track of the days, feeling as if someone else is trying to claw their way out of her chest, she almost goes to Fakir for help. Almost.

It is, of course, Fakir who shatters the illusion that is Rue. Her one and only friend calls her an ugly crow, and in that moment she remembers what she is. What she’s always been. They’ve been enemies from birth. This “friendship” was nothing more than the a sad illusion created by a lonely girl—a girl who no longer exists. And she knows now, in her father’s absence, her “friend” will die at her hand. This is their fate and fate cannot be changed. Still, it was nice while it lasted.
