Fans keep saying that wanting more hg content is being like the capitol but I would argue that the thing that fans do that makes them like the capitol is hating on the other tributes and saying that some of them deserved to die, I found on YouTube comments that there are still people hating on the carrers from the first movie/book and there are still people hating on coral and the pack in tbosas . The carrers did messed up things I am not denying that but at the end of the day they were brainwashed by the capitol into believing that their oppressive government had their best interest and that entering a death sentence was a great honor I would say this is a tragedy in itself to fully believe that people who don't view you as a person but a tool for entertainment care about you, both clove and Cato were very varnebal and scared in their last moments and so was coral in the movie, by the end of it they were all children thrusted into a awful situation the carrers didn't fully comprehend what they were throwing themselves into and the pack in tbosas were forced into and doing what they can to survive, one of the things that snow suggested to make the hunger games more popular was by making the viewers Rooting for and rooting against specific tributes completely removing the fact that all of them are children who are being thrown to a death sentence and subjected to death and violence and suffering, so saying that there are tributes who deserved to die and others didn't is what the capitol does, I sure hope this doesn't happen again with sotr

Octavia/Calamaria: takes the role of Ivan/Ice-Cub. She's obsessed with anything ocean and sea-related, like stingrays and coral, and eventually learns how to make potions and spells. Ice World is called Ocean-World and is a secret portal in the moat surrounding the HG.

Villain Amaya: In this universe, she, Connor, and Greg attend a private school and are the typical "preppy" yet arrogant kids.

Luna Girl is now Solaria, the sunny yet annoying younger adoptive star sister of Motsuki. She takes the role of both Motsuki and Lilyfay. Her powers are sun related: and they only get more intense and powerful when there's a solar eclipse. She also has a good tan from her time around solar power. Her human form is called Cynthia.

Motsuki takes the role of Newton Star and Luna; she makes sure her younger sister doesn't do anything stupid. She's very interested in the moon and the powers it holds. Her human form is called Suki.

au where facet lives and becomes the victor!

Facet wins by killing Coral (who was his final opponent). Lucy Gray was killed by the snakes as Coriolanus never got a chance to put the handkerchief into the tank. Livia is given the Plinth prize. Because of Livia's win, Coriolanus tries even harder to make her his First Lady and eventually succeeds. Due to her ongoing desire to meet Facet again, Coriolanus begins manipulating Livia way earlier and she begins to get distant to not only Facet (now eventually a mentor himself) but towards every victor

Facet refuses to be sold to Capitol citizens. Due to that, both of his siblings are reaped but neither wins. Livia is devasted and overwhelmed with guilt but unable to do something due to Coriolanus ongoing h*jacking

By the time the 75th HG come, Coriolanus rigs the reaping for Facet to be chosen. He didn't expect Gloss to volunteer and take Facet's place though. Facet volunteers to be a mentor again, this is how he finds out about the rebel plot and how he ends up escaping to D13. This is where he finally meets Livia again after decades of only seeing her at Capitol parties. At first he doesn't even recognise the woman his age, now looking so different to what he saw at parties. They bond again over their shared trauma (Facet's trauma of his years as a mentor, loosing his siblings etc. and Livia due to Coriolanus' h*jacking, which had been even worse in this AU and has driven her to the point of attacking Facet). It's only when he begins telling her stories of the week of them as a mentor and tribute that Livia begins to remember and her hate for Facet begins to fade

Livia's son still ends up being killed which causes her to snap out of Coriolanus' influence. She breaks down in front of Facet, telling him about how desperately she'd wanted to help him and his siblings but how Coriolanus' influence was far too strong. She shares some of Coriolanus' deepest secrets with Facet that he (alongside Finnick) eventually spills for a propo.

Both survive the second rebellion. Livia goes back to the Capitol and Facet - now the only living victor of D1, goes back home. They stay in contact though, just like Livia had always hoped <3

I watched TBOSAS today (Sunday) and I’m sadly not very well (bad cold or flu), but I wanted to try and make a little post to appreciate the film/give my thoughts.

I saw the first three Hunger Games movies on opening weekend during my teens - the only one I didn’t watch at the cinema was Mockingjay Part 2, because it coincided with my GCSE mocks and some other stuff I had going on. I saw the first one twice at the cinema, once on opening weekend with one friend and then a second time with my then-best friend a few weeks later; I saw CF and MJP1 with my younger sister on opening weekend because it’s one of the few series we both love and so it’s one of the few things we can both enjoy together. My point is that I’m a huge THG fan, have been since I read the first book in late 2011 when I was 13 - I even still have my Mockingjay pin that I bought in March 2012 from Waterstones that I still wear!

Anyway, I read TBOSAS during lockdown, my sister bought the book and let me read it after she did, so this has been one of my most anticipated movies of the year!

I’m glad they made Coriolanus Snow hot because I felt so conflicted watching him and that’s EXACTLY what was needed for the character, he’s got this beautiful exterior but he is POISON inside

Rachel Zegler was AMAZING by the way, I’m not her biggest fan by any means but I say fuck the haters

Hunter Schafer as Tigris was AMAZING casting, she really needs to shine away from Euphoria because damn she was so good in this film

Just in general casting ATE in this movie; Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman etc

Tigris was spot on: “I wouldn’t sing a note for you” and pointing out that Coryo needed to get Lucy Gray’s trust in order to help her win

Arachne Crane deserved death, idc 🤷‍♀️

NO ARACHNE FUNERAL LIKE THE BOOK?!?

The fact that the tributes were just dumped in a zoo and put on display like animals?!? Compared to six and a half decades later where the tributes are glammed up and treated like royalty, even allowed to train before entering the arena??? I love how starkly different it is

I won’t lie, Lucky Flickerman stole the film whenever he was in the scene 😭😅 absolute scene stealer?!?

Lucky trying to cancel his dinner reservations on night 1 of the games because “this is taking longer than I expected” 💀

Also telling one of the mentors not to puke on the floor after their tribute was killed?!?! Iconic really

Coryo killing Bobbin was BRUTAL. He could have stopped after the first hit, that was self defence - but he carried on and kept hitting him. It was definitely a huge moment

I obviously knew Wovey wasn’t going to survive, but god DAMN it 😭 DID THEY HAVE TO MAKE HER SO SWEET AND LIKEABLE?!? She just wanted to go home, and those were her last words before she was killed by the snakes 😭

Coryo really cheated just so Lucy Gray could survive, and it still has me questioning whether he cares for her or if it is just to do with the Plinth prize? 🤔

“What are the Hunger Games for, Mister Snow?” And all I can think about was him explaining in the original HG movie why there’s a Victor, why they don’t just kill 24 kids at random:

THE SNAKE SCENE IN THE ARENA WHERE LUCY GRAY SINGS?!? ASDFGHJKL THIS IS CINEMA

The Games felt so much more primal and sad, like you could tell all of them were just trying to survive, even Coral who seemed to target Lucy Gray ruthlessly but then before her death made the comment that it can’t have all been for nothing…

The fact that Gaul didn’t want to call an end to the games even though Lucy Gray was the final survivor, and it was only when the other mentors were chanting to let her out, to call it, that she finally did it…

I nearly lost my shit during the first hanging scene because I suddenly remembered that THIS was what the Hanging Tree song was based on; “they strung up a man they say who murdered three” “dead man called out for his love to flee” etc. And that is EXACTLY what happened, right to a tee: the man protesting his innocence, calling for his love to go…

Listen I may be REALLY off, but the meadow where Coryo and Lucy Gray met up again… is it the same meadow from the final scene in Mockingjay P2 with Everlark and their kids?!?

It probably isn’t but it reminded me of it idk

SEJANUS PLINTH YOU HAVE ALWAYS DESERVED BETTER 😭 knew it was coming but I was so sad

The scene where they hang Sejanus was so chilling, because the birds (i think they were Jabberjays and not Mockingjays but I could be wrong?) repeated his blood curdling calls for help as he was hung, like I was so haunted by it afterwards

No wonder Coriolanus Snow hates the fucking birds, Jesus Christ

THE CABIN AND WOODS SCENES?!?

The absolute tonal shift when he finds the guns, when Lucy Gray remarks that she’s the only loose end as if it’s a taunt, a challenge etc.

Coriolanus running through the woods, screaming “AFTER EVERYTHING I HAVE DONE FOR YOU?!?” - it just SCREAMS toxic relationship quite frankly, like whether you believe there was any genuine love at all or not, it just screams how toxic the relationship was between them. It was doomed from the start frankly

I was so concerned that the film would make it clear whether or not he killed Lucy Gray, but thankfully they left it ambiguous just like the book. Did one of his bullets hit her? Did she fly free?

It’s so interesting that Lucy Gray and her games were completely and utterly wiped, there was no trace of them - but her songs, her art, survived even after she disappeared. Songs like the Meadow song and the Hanging Tree survived and were passed on through District 12, becoming part of their culture - Snow couldn’t destroy that, no matter how hard he might have tried

Also YES, I noticed that Tigris called him “Coryo” until their last scene together, and then it was “Coriolanus” 😭 and also the fact that she warned him not to turn into his father, his father had hate in his eyes… and then at the end, she sadly tells him “you look like your father, Coriolanus” 😭

The small little hints of the man Coriolanus Snow is in the original series though??? The roses, the Katniss plant Easter egg, etc. And then there’s the fact we see glimpses of what later became his preferred method of killing his enemies - poison. He put poison in the compact and gave it to Lucy Gray, and then he poisoned Casca Highbottom… it’s just so fascinating to think of who this young 18 year old becomes later on, the way he changed over the course of the next 64 years and how those changes came directly from what happened in this story.

Ending the film with Donald Sutherland’s delivery of “It’s the things we love the most that destroy us” from the original movies?!?! FUCK YEAH I WAS THIS CLOSE TO SCREAMING

Honestly it’s got to be VERY hard to play a younger version of a Donald Sutherland character, but especially this one because that man KILLED the part in the films, but I think Tom Blyth did a really good job and I could definitely see hints of the older Snow being included in his performance, like I could genuinely believe it was the same character?

The fact that 64 years later a dark haired girl from District 12 wearing a mockingjay pin and singing songs once sung by a girl he thought dead absolutely fucked his life up?!? We love to see it. It’s like Lucy Gray gave him a middle finger lol

I’ll be honest, as soon as we left the cinema I said to my sister “the only thing is now I want to watch the original four Hunger Games movies” 😭

That’s all I can think of right now because I’m very feverish, I’ve got work in the morning and it was also a long film so there was a LOT going on, but I absolutely LOVED IT. The Hunger Games has truly been the only franchise that has a prequel that has been nearly universally loved and accepted by the fans, Suzanne Collins is truly amazing.

I did the shipping meme with Skipporal, to anyone who wants a more detailed explaination. I have headcannons down below for anyone who is interested.

Skipper is bisexual and Coral is straight, Skipper has a bigger preference for women than men and Coral has the “straight girl that people think is actually bisexual” vibe.

Skipper tends to call Coral nicknames because he thinks there cute and he refers to Coral as “Sweetheart” and “Doll” the most. Coral also calls him romantic nicknames, but prefers “Honey” and “Darling” as her nicknames for him.

Skipper calls Coral either Corrie or Coralie, while Coral calls Skipper “Skips” sometimes.

Skipper and Coral are fairly extroverted, although Coral definitely likes alone time to herself.

Affection through actions is positively Skipper’s go to for showing affection since he loves impressing his partners, although he does do words more commonly since there easier. He has referred to Coral as the love of his life more than once and will still do so. Coral just does simple gestures since she just prefers showing Skipper love in a humble way.

Skipper definitely confessed first, Coral isn’t a slouch by no means but Skipper has been in past relationships while she hasn’t.

Coral hates bugs with a passion, so Skipper gladly squashes them.

They can both drive, Skipper just does it more often.

Coral likes cooking and can make some really tasty noodles.

Skipper actually loves PDA, but he also likes keeping up the image of this “Macho badass secret agent” persona. So he practically melts when Coral shows any affection towards him in private. So in public, he gives the vibe that he would slap you if you tried to hg him.

Skipper is already protective of Coral in general, so that instinct goes up to eleven when there on missions or if she’s in trouble. Coral is only really Skipper levels of protective when he’s in explicit danger.

Skipper has had a few flings in the past, while Coral has had some crushes. Her relationship with Skipper was the only one that went anywhere.

Coral gets more awkward due to the neurotic side of her personality, meanwhile Skipper is just smooth talking and remaining calm.

Skipper gets more jealous due to his paranoia, and will launch a scheme against some animal if they get a little too close for comfort with Coral.

if i had read this when i first saw gurren lagann i woulda been so mad. the getter emperor is so cool! in comparison "oh actually we don't need to worry about tearing apart the universe in our eternal quest for power. that constant push for growth and power to defeat ever greater enemies is good actually, we just need to kill everything trying to stop us and never stop expanding" is just not a good way to take what's basically the exact same story

if i ever rewatch it i'm not going to be able to see team gurren as anything other than evil. seeing kittan's sacrifice and shaking my head like "he succumbed to the corruption of the getter. sad!"

the endless evil clones of musashi are so scary! this bit is so good!

the ending is so good. like, i'm sad it never got finished but where would it even go? the getter emperor wins. there's nothing to be done. it's the manifestation of mankind's endless evolution and fighting spirit, the things that make a shonen protagonist a shonen protagonist. both of them are neck deep in that. they aren't about to beat the getter!

i really do have such fond memories of Gen 4, though

i was in high school when the OG Diamond & Pearl came out; i got Diamond and my best friend got Pearl and we used to take our matching coral pink DSs to school with us and play Pokemon together at lunch

i was absolutely obsessed with the underground, and once i hit postgame i had a whole routine with the daily & weekly events

i also found my very first shiny in the Old Chateau; a Gastly who i named Aoi (she's now a Gengar, and i still have her in my Pokemon Bank on my 3DS)

BDSP got (and still gets) a lot of hate for being almost cookie cutter remakes of the DS games, but i don't see the issue? i hate "modern" Pokemon; i'm grateful to have slightly updated versions of games i loved on a newer platform and with a few very significant improvements (faster battles & text speeds, anyone?)

i have just as many fond memories of Gen 2 & Gen 3, and i loved HG/SS & ORAS, too

i know Pokemon will never be what it was, but if remakes allow the older fans to relive a little bit of nostalgia, then i hope they keep making them

i would love to see Gen 5 on Switch with a fully-intact Dream World, for example...
