yes, doctors suck, but also "the medical ethics and patient interaction training doctors receive reinforces ableism" and "the hyper competitive medical school application process roots out the poor, the disabled, and those who would diversify the field" and "anti-establishment sentiment gets applications rejected and promotions requests denied, weeding out the doctors on our side" and "the gruesome nature of the job and the complete lack of mental health support for medical practitioners breeds apathy towards patients" and "insurance companies often define treatment solely on a cost-analysis basis" and "doctors take on such overwhelming student loan debt they have no choice but to pursue high paying jobs at the expense of their morals" are all also true
none of this absolves doctors of the truly horrendous things they say and do to patients, but it's important to acknowledge that rather than every doctor being coincidentally a bad person, there is something specific about this field and career path that gives rise to such high prevalence of ableist attitudes
and I WILL elaborate happily
#theres so much that contributes to this#and its such a traditional field that any change takes ten years to take effect even when its not as controversial as disability rights#ive no lost love for doctors as a whole#but the deeper causes here need to be examined to understand how this problem manifested and what can be done to fix it#disability#chronic illness#ableism#premed#medicine#salt baby talks

tuesday & wednesday, 11th and 12th of february, 2025.

mugged up gp-13,14 and 18 from p-block. (what a shit-ass chapter mg)
solved pyqs from cl 11th portion of p-block.
finished 'microbes in human welfare'.
finished 'biomolecules' from org. chem. (syllabus officially completed for org.chem. now it's just time for revision + rigorous practice hopefully 😼💅🏼; however, do need to give time to mechanisms & isomerism.)
finished 'evolution'.
started with 'human health & diseases'. (studied immunity)
attended a lec. on numericals in biology. (40mins; i'm left with 10 more mins)
solved 110+ pyqs from: (i) ecosystem (ii) microbes
finished co-ordination compounds. (this also marks the end of inorg. chem's syllabus for me, now i js gotta mug up everything and pray to god i remember them.)
attending a lec. of full rev. of XI's phy rn. (i'm not done, i'm barely ⅕th done with it – IT IS 10 HOURS LONG. i will kms)
hi chat, ok-ok day. as of lately, my routine's solely been: wake up -> overdose on caffeine -> study -> eat -> sleep -> repeat [💀]. sounds depressing, and it probably is. but it's these things that we all need to do, to enjoy the finer things in life. i suppose. anyways, i'll go back to doing that lec. this is a plea in disguise, send help so i'll update you guys in a few hours! :)
days remaining to NEET: 81.
🎧: would you by the vamps.

leaving a three hour lab be like:
what time is it? why is it dark outside? where did the sun go?
I'm starving.
I'm never doing that again (literally has the same lab scheduled the following week).

02.03.2025 // Day 2/15 of 15 Days of Productivity with @i-wanna-study and @lavhere ⊹ ࣪ ˖🕰️୭˚. ᵎᵎ🗝️
⌛Maki's Productive Time: 4 hrs 51 mins 👑
⌛Lav's Productive Time: 30 min (my dude was sick)
⌛Burrito's Productive Time: 3 hrs 30 mins
Alright, study hours definitely decreased and I was lowkey slacking off yesterday T_T The thing is, my dad said we all were going to the movies, so I got too excited and couldn't focus for the rest of the day-
Still, I managed to do a bit of work and also figured out a new way of learning :) For my exam, we need a clear grasp of the textbook, each line should be in our head, but rereading it multiple times does get boring, so on my third or fourth read, I start reading from the back instead of the front and work my way through. Idk if this is super effective, but it does help me not fall asleep from boredom :')

hi my lovely pre-med angels!! 🤍 it's mindy hereee!
today's post is extra special because so many of you have been asking about extracurriculars for medical school!! if you know, my ultimate dream is to become a doctor, i'd love to either be a psychiatrist or a cardiologist, so anything medical-related is my favorite cup of coffee!! i'm literally so excited to share this comprehensive guide that will help you shine on your future applications. this post is for you if you're in high school or college, this guide will be your bestie through the journey!!
~ ♡ for my precious high school sweethearts ♡ ~
hospital + healthcare volunteering (my absolute fave!!) • aim for 100-150 hours minimum • try different departments to explore • build relationships with nurses + staff • pro tip: volunteer during summer break for more hours • keep a reflection journal of your experiences • bonus: ask for recommendation letters if you connect well!!
research opportunities • reach out to local universities • email professors about summer programs • join science fairs with medical projects • create your own research project • tip: start with literature reviews if labs aren't available • document everything for future applications!!

Days 8-16 of 100 Days of Productivity🩵
I’m gonna summarize this week because it wasn’t the greatest. It was a bit of a rot week, even though I did my best to get some work done I was really struggling. I think I need to ease up on the video games IMO, so that will be my goal for this coming week!
