they deserve to be happy. I wish we could've seen how they are outside of battle and somewhere like an upper moon meeting.

i really liked how they were to each other. i cried like a baby during their episode. i love that daki has full confidence that her brother will always protect her no matter what and that gyutaro knows daki will always try to do the same for him even if she'll most likely end up losing or get in more trouble because of it and loves her anyway.

Never Say Never

Life Has a Way of Surprising You

We’ve all said it before: I will never do that. Maybe you declared you’d never move back to your hometown. Maybe you swore you’d never take a desk job. Maybe you even insisted you’d never become the kind of parent who gives their child a soother just to get a moment of peace.

But here’s the thing—life has a funny way of proving us wrong.

The truth is, we don’t know what the future holds. We make these bold statements from a place of certainty, but that certainty is often rooted in our current circumstances, perspectives, and experiences. As we grow, evolve, and face new challenges, our mindset shifts, and suddenly, that “never” turns into a “maybe” or even a “definitely.”

The Trap of Absolute Thinking

Saying you’ll never do something is a form of absolute thinking—black and white, all or nothing. It creates limitations and sets us up for potential regret or embarrassment when we later realise that “never” was a bit too strong of a word. It’s okay to have preferences, beliefs, and values, but when we impose rigid restrictions on ourselves or others, we may unknowingly close doors to growth, opportunity, and even happiness.

Common “Never” statements that life loves to challenge

“I will never get married.” Until you meet someone who changes your mind.

“I will never have kids.” Until the idea of parenthood becomes an unexpected yet welcomed joy.

“I will never move back home.” Until you realise home is exactly where you need to be.

“I will never work a 9-to-5 job.” Until stability and benefits become more appealing.

“I will never forgive them.” Until time, growth, or perspective softens your heart.

“I will never be successful.” Until you finally recognise your own potential.

Embracing life’s unpredictability

Instead of declaring what you’ll never do, try shifting to a mindset of openness. You don’t have to abandon your values or preferences, but acknowledging that life is unpredictable can help you move with it rather than resist it.

Rather than saying, I will never, try saying:

Right now, I don’t see myself doing that, but who knows what the future holds?

That’s not something I see myself doing at this moment, but I’m open to new experiences.

I have strong feelings about that now, but I also understand that life can change.

When we allow room for flexibility, we reduce stress, open ourselves to new experiences, and develop a greater sense of compassion—for ourselves and for others.

Life has a way of humbling us, teaching us, and reshaping our perspectives. The things we say we will never do often become the very things that shape us the most. So, the next time you catch yourself saying “never,” pause and remind yourself: Life is full of surprises, and I am open to the journey.

a lot of the writing around sera is not great, more so in the sense that it's ~problematic~ or insensitive, but as someone who has spent time trying to emulate sera's speech patterns in writing, there are so many moments of brilliance where I've had to stop and say "how did that guy come up with this." a lot of sera's dialogue is just very creatively and cleverly written, imo. I consider myself pretty decent at writing specific accents/dialects but what makes sera difficult is she has her own dialect that this guy made up for her, her own way of speaking that is uniquely sera and matches no known dialect known to man or god. which makes absolute sense for her character, someone who has grown up with such a varied hodgepodge of influences and who sees and understands the world in a particular way that nobody else does.

this is just from an objective standpoint about sera's dialogue itself, i obviously have issues with a lot of her writing. particularly the dialogue choices in response to sera and the way I think her character arc was mishandled (or not handled, as it were.) but I personally don't think she was entirely terribly written. just because there are so many times when i see her dialogue and i'm like ughh that's so good.
