A while ago, I was talking to a girl at my church about different shows we used to watch growing up. I mentioned that I enjoyed Ouran High School Host Club (still do), and the conversation went something like this:

Girl: Wait, you actually like that show???? Don't you think it's problematic???

Me: I dunno. It's a nostalgic favorite of mine.

Girl: Okay, as long as that's the ONLY reason you like it, then you're fine.

I didn't say anything else because I just wasn't willing to get into a whole conversation about it. But I remember standing there and thinking, "If this girl thinks OHSHC is too problematic, then telling her I like Hetalia will probably send her into a coma."

cute high school AU idea I just had: Arthur is the kinda scary punk guy that most people try to stay away from - and he catches Alfred stealing his cigarettes.

Arthur catches Alfred’s wrist before he can get anywhere and pulls him aside behind the school building. He yells at Alfred but stops when the poor boy starts tearing up. “Are you crying?” Arthur asks confused but with an edge of disgust in his voice which only causes Alfred to start sobbing uncontrollably. Alfred admits that he only tried to steal those goddamn cigarettes because he’s being bullied pretty badly and those guys made him do it and he begs Arthur to “Make it quick, okay? Maybe if you beat me up first they’ll be done with me for today.”

Alfred looks absolutely pathetic, sobbing and sniffling with his eyes red and puffy, and Arthur, having grown up with three older brothers who still love teasing and taunting their baby brother and making him cry, feels bad for him. He shoves his cigarettes back into one of the many pockets in his pants and pulls a tissue out of another, throws it in Alfred’s general direction and tells him to “Come. What are you waiting for? Follow me!”

Too intimidated and exhausted to protest Alfred does as he is told and trots behind Arthur, across the schoolyard right up to that group of boys who are pointing and laughing at a red-eyed, puffy-cheeked Alfred. But the laughing quickly stops when Arthur breaks their leader’s nose with a single, well-aimed punch in his face.

The next thing Alfred knows is sitting next to Arthur on the floor or the school bathroom, still sniffling while he helps cleaning Arthur’s bloody knuckles until they are both laughing about the absurdity of their situation.

Arthur takes him out for a milkshake that same afternoon. ❤️
