the fact of the matter is percy jackson and the olympians is a story of a negligent system in which demigods often fall victim. luke’s motive as the main antagonist throughout the series is to dismantle that system, dismantle the thrones on which the gods sit. hestia, however, does not sit on a throne. She places herself at camp half-blood among the demigods, reachable and ready to provide them warmth. and when the war reaches its peak, lives are threatened and the olympians leave to defend their symbols of power, hestia remains on mount olympus and tends to hearth, nurturing what is left of family. hestia is not everyone’s favorite Oolympian because she has done nothing to harm the demigods (though, that is a huge factor). she is the most honorable because she does what she can to maintain hope and stability throughout adversity. hestia was the last olympian remaining because she represents what matters most when everything falls apart.

I just saw a post about how Hera, Demeter, and Hestia should be the Big 3 instead of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. And while I understand the sentiment (✨Feminism✨🖕🏻Fuck the Patriarchy 🖕🏻✌🏻Girl Power✌🏻 etc) I personally think Hera, Demeter, and Hestia are not only quite content with their positions, they very likely helped orchestrated it to be that way.
One of the biggest mistakes worshipers, witches, and mythology fans make is thinking the 3 sisters are not powerful enough to take the thrones if they wanted them.
Demeter alone forced 2 out of the 3 Kings (1 of them being THE King) to bend to her will. One of those thrones could have easily been hers if she wanted it.
Hestia paved the way for Athena and Artemis, by CHOOSING her own path. She didn’t ask Zeus, she told him by swearing an oath that she would remain a virgin. And of course, Hestia gets offerings first and last. Pretty sure the one thing all the Gods can agree on is that Hestia is the best and that by itself is power.
As for Hera, she knows her position is actually far better than Zeus’ bc she has more freedom. I always compare them to the King and Queen in chess. The King is important enough to be the entire purpose of the game however he’s extremely limited. The Queen, on the other hand, is limitless which makes her the most dangerous piece on the board. You can see this in action in the Iliad. Hera is able to release her anger and fury for not being chosen by Paris and aids in the destruction of an entire city. Zeus, with all his power as King, can’t even prevent his beloved son’s death because his position of King does not allow it. And it was Hera who reminded Zeus that as their leader, he couldn’t save his son. So she knows the limits that come with that role. Why would she choose a position that only lets her move one space at a time when she can move whenever and however she wants? And she still has a crown on her head.
I get because of how patriarchal Ancient Greece was it’s easy to look at the hierarchy of the Gods as a reflection of that. But personally, I think the structure actually makes sense when you take into account the personalities of the Gods and what each position requires.
And as I said before, if Hera, Demeter, and Hestia weren’t happy with the current structure, it wouldn’t be the current structure. 😂
Also, we haven’t even talked about the wildcard that is, Aphrodite! As if that hot sexy bitch couldn’t take the whole thing down with just one boob.
Like come on, I thought we all already knew that our Goddesses are the ones who truly run the entire show?

double-posting this from a discussion i had somewhere else, but i really like Hera in Hades 2.
Overall Hera seems to be the only Olympian who is fully aware and engaging with the fact that their entire reign of humankind and relationships with one another are fucked up and likely beyond repair, but she's also like, reveling in her power-- it's not because it's morally dubious that she's not gonna be a goddess, she just says it out loud as opposed to hiding behind false poise or forced dignity like Athena or Zeus do.
She's too smart and in control to give herself to her base instincts like Poseidon and Dionysus do, she's too important and stubborn to just stay in her lane or leave like Hestia and Hephaestus do, and she simply couldn't fathom not being in the spotlight and living in relative peace with her own responsibilities and nothing more, like Hades or Artemis are more than comfortable doing. She has to be the star of the show, she has to be fabulous, but she will not for a single moment stop pointing at the other actors in the play she calls her life and laughing at them.
She's incredible, I really really like this Emma Frost-style take on Hera. After so many versions of her have ran the gamut between battered wife trying to hold her family together, stepford cuckoo trying to pretend it's all fine, horrible crone monster no one could like and just kind of There and Not Very Active in the daily life of anyone, we finally have a version of Hera more like we see in the Illiad and other texts-- someone who's simply very comfortable looking someone in the eye and saying "You're just kind of a piece of shit, aren't you", even when that someone is the King of Olympus.
I usually like most of the takes Supergiant has with their interpretations of Greek myth but the Hera stuff is particularly fascinating to me. She's not Zeus's equal and she's not holding herself back to give him the illusion that she's beneath him; she's above all of them, she is fully playing the role of Queen of Olympus, it's just, everyone else is either kind of stupid or doesn't care. And she knows that, and does it anyway.
It strikes the very specific balance of "these people have caused wars for petty reasons" and "hahah look at the silly gods" that I feel not a lot of things manage to.

Okay, I'm gonna go a little
but hear me out:
If Melinoe is the ghost goddess/chthonic nymph and has the same hair color as Persephone, and following the Melinoe hymn it's said that "whom revered Persephone bore by the mouth of the Kokytos river", I'm betting money on the fact that she was born just after Zagreus, but since Mel was... you know, phantom-like:
Persephone could not just leave her to be or get back to the Underworld, so I'm theorizing she did the second best thing: leave Melinoe with someone else who was more apt to take care of her, someone like...
since Melinoe was called a, you know:
and she also calls the new big mommy Headmistress, so if I'm theorizing right said headmistress could either be Hecate, Circe, or Medea. Circe is a good option because of her island, which is somewhere the teaser seems to be happening at? Or a garden of some kind, or Olympus garden for all that I know because Chronos got himself free and brought war upon the Olympians, and on that note, I would like to point out that this place can very much be Poseidon's domain:
Some other things that I would LOVE to point out:
This guy is a son of Nyx. He's Thanatos and Hypnos' brother.
Nemesis is also a daughter of Nyx and it's said in canon. Also: LOOK AT THE FUCKING SWORD.
And Supegiant said in the Steam intro that:
"Infuse your legendary weapons of Night with ancient magick, so that none may stand in your way. Become stronger still with powerful Boons from more than a dozen Olympian gods, from Apollo to Zeus. There are nearly limitless ways to build your abilities. Meet a cast of dozens of fully-voiced, larger-than-life characters, including plenty of new faces and some old friends. Grow closer to them through a variety of new interactions, and experience countless unique story events based on how your journey unfolds."
Can we expect Hera, Hephaestus, and Hestia? Because we already got this gay- I mean, guy.
Halfway through this, I was like "ok but the headmistress dress like Charon so it would be pretty fucking funny if it was just Nyx with a hat" and this thought does have some credibility bc:
I MEAN??? LOL I MIGHT BE WRONG BUT I ALSO MIGHT BE RIGHT?? I think two chthonic gods in a trench coat are not too far-fetched for Hades' standards
(Will she be a boss? Will Chronos be a boss? WILL CHRONOS STOP TIME JUST AS HADES GOT INVISIBLE?)
AND YOU CAN PET THE FROG, THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT (its name might be Frino, because it was the name of the file when I got it from Steam).
And who do you think this red-caped dude is? My friend is betting her money on Odysseus and Jason.
And I would like to finish this madness with the fact that since Chronos is fucking shit up and Hades is trapped inside a BDSM dungeon like this
Zagreus is probably doing what he hates most in this whole wide world: the desk job LOL GET FUCKED ZAG
AND GO WATCH THE ANIMATED TRAILER

Zeus: What are you talking about? I'm a very trusting person! I trust all of you.
Zeus: Except Poseidon.
Poseidon: That's fair.
Zeus: And Hestia a little bit.
Hestia: What??
Zeus: You're too nice, it feels fake. Like you're lulling me into a false sense of security so you can steal my organs later.
Hestia: Wha- I don't want your organs!
Zeus: That's exactly what someone who wants to steal my organs while I sleep would say.
Zeus: Hades. You can hide in shadows and you're always talking to people who aren't there.
Hades: Those people are ghosts. Ghosts who have helped us.
Zeus: Right, but how can I be sure that you're not using them to plot against me?
Hades: Why would I plot against you?
Zeus: I don't fucking know! But you could be. And that's the important thing to focus on.
Hades: That's not-
Zeus: And Dem! Look, you seem great. But. You know... there's just something there that worries me.
Demeter: And that is?
Zeus: Don't know! But it's there.
Zeus: So really I trust all of you, but not that much, save for Hera. Except, obviously, when I don't trust her. But it's mostly I do. Usually. Sometimes.
Zeus: Once.
Hera: Are you fucking kidding me?
Zeus: No, I've definitely trusted you one time. Sort of. A little bit. It was very difficult.
Hera: You have a problem and you need help.
Zeus: That's exactly what someone who wants me to fail would say.
#zeus#poseidon#hestia#hades#demeter#hera#all of them grabbing him by his shoulders and yelling WE ARE ON THE SAME SIDE YOU PARANOID LITTLE SHIT#and he's just like look i know that and you know that but also you're plotting against me#they come up with a plan of attack for the day and then he has like forty secret backup plans just in case they betray him#happy talks greek mythos

Diary of Jack Hearth
chapter one - Let's start with the basics
------------------------------------
Hey, I dunno why your reading my diary but what the fuck, hi, I'm male today (I'm fucking gender fluid so stfu)
My name is Jack Hearth, I'm 17 years old, the adopted son of Hestia and the champion of many gods and goddesses (we'll get into that in the future, don't worry). I'm also one of the oldest none fully
Let's talk about me, that's why you're here isn't it? I'll only give you a brief summary for now. We can get more into detail later
I don't really remember much about my mortal parents; they died when I was 5 years old from a car accident which I caused (will also get into this in the future) and I take complete blame for the accident no matter what anyone tells me.
After that shitshow of a car crash, Hestia found me, raised me for a few years and then she took me to CHB (camp half-blood), where I became the keeper of the Hearth at camp, which at the time for me personally was a very important job (now not so much).
I stayed at camp for around 6 years, until after the second giant war, where I went to CJ (camp Jupiter) and served for a few years.
After I was released from duty in the cohort, I returned to CHB which is where I usually spend most my time now, although I occasionally visit CJ to visit old friends, such as RaRa (Reyna Avila Ramírez-Arellano)
Once I returned to CHB, I spent as much time as I could (probably too much) baking, as its one if not my favourite past time.
As well as baking, I began spending a lot more time with the younger and newer campers, and especially the ones who didn't necessarily come from a good background.
In spending time with these campers, it made me realise so much more how absolutely FUCKED demigod lives are.
So many of the younger campers came from families who either abused or neglected them because they were demigods and they were seen as a "freak" by their own families.
This revelation caused me to become very protective over the new and younger campers. (the younger ones more) I basically became a parental figure or an older sibling figure to almost every camper.
After a few years of that, I was involved in some time traveling shenanigans where I ended up adopting my first child, Rosalie, and one of my strange... I guess you could call it an addiction, began... I started having this strange urge to adopt as many children as I could and protect them from the world, or at least give them a caring parental figure, and I currently have 22 adopted children and one biological child.
And now you've caught up, that dear reader is just a brief summary of my life.... I'll bring you more soon
---------------------------------------------------
WOOO, finally done chapter 1, took me 2 hours to write
Can you guys like review this and tell me where I can improve
(tag list for fanfic, tell me if you want to be added)

Your bitch is watching the second season of Blood of Zeus and lemme tell you, I don't like it. At least the very first 10 minutes. As I did previously, imma put here all of my thoughts regarding each episode as I watch, so beware of MASSIVE SPOILERS.
Also, small disclaimer: I'm not a professional writer, nor a movie critic. So everything here is my pure humble opinion so if you don't like it - don't read it.
So without further ado:
Episode 1:
Gods, it's been 10 minutes and half of the visuals (if not more) are just parts of the final episode of the first season. And also the plot didn't really moved past the point "yeah, Hades is the bbeg. Again." Although I sense some bits that it's more like "oh he's a misunderstood guy who did it all for love and whatnot" but the line of "Hera and Zeus made us fools and now we get to have our revenge" is already pissing me off. 10 minutes of almost nothing but being cliché. Not a good start, but imma give it a shot.
Another thing that irritates me is the "romantic" tension between Alexia and Heron. First of all, I don't get it how Heron is so good at fighting despite the fact that he lived with his mother and never really had to fight anyone with a sword. Like I get the arrows and such (tho hunting an animal in a forest and shooting a moving fucking warrior on a bloody battlefield seem kinda different, but aight, I'll let it slide). But how in the fuck after a few days-weeks of training with Zeus he manages to be so fucking op in the battle that it impresses an Amazonian Fucking Warrior Lady that spent at least half her life perfecting her martial skills?? This guy was not a warrior to begin with, how is he so good at killing people and demons?? He was BULLIED AND HAD NO ONE TO TEACH HIM KICK BALLS! So anyways, I don't like that it's implied that Alexia is falling in love with Heron. No, she's a powerful ass Amazonian, she's supposed to be COOL AND NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS WIBBLY WOBBLY HERON THAT HADN'T EVEN LIVED FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS!!! Like, c'mon, how old is he? 17? 18? He maybe has a body of a perfect athlete, but he's a fucking baby... And don't tell me Alexia is below 20, she's in her late 20's AT LEAST, cuz ain't no way a 20 year old is commanding an elite squad in ancient Greece. So no to Heron×Alexia. Not on my watch.
Also, what the fuck is elusinian stone and why are we supposed to care whether Hades gets it not?
What the fuck did they do to Hestia's and Athena's designs?? Like what the honest fuck is this bullshit?? Who do winged dead eating demons look more interesting that obviously very important characters?? Also, the scream Hestia lets out burning the demons away from her 💀💀💀
NO, NOT THE PROPHECY TROPE, PLEASE, NO
Why does Gaia look like she stepped out of a marvel movie...?
Episode 2:
Alexia, girl, why are you sleeping in full armour?? Also what happened to your face??
Heron, what happened to your face?? Did they ever give proper character references to the animators??
Also, why is Heron having a mental breakdown over some noname bro that killed their mother??
Bro, why are you so suddenly questioning gods?? (Ye, he should question who the fuck these gods are to rule over humanity, but it's smth he was supposed to do in the previous season, not now when he beat the shit out of his step brother in the name of gods)
Yay, my babygirl Seraphim is still here, serving cunt as usual 💖 And fuck yeah, eternal judgement >> serving gods!! Slay babe! (I am kinda ashamed for this passage, but I won't apologise for it)
Bitch what. A love interest? FOR MY MURDEROUS VENGEANCE LED BABYGIRL?? ARE Y'ALL KIDDING ME??
WHY DID YOU SPIT LIKE THIS?? PEOPLE DON'T SPIT LIKE THIS, SWEETIE. DEMONS TOO BY THE WAY
Ok, I understand the lack of colours for Hades, he is kinda gothic, but why is Persephone such a goth chick?? She's the goddess of spring and such no?? Why'd she wear black fucking lipstick and look like a depressed teen??
What in the Hades the game is this?? Listen, I didn't want to bring the game into this discussion, but you did it yourself, netflix. Y'all are not ready to be compared to the supergiants' masterpiece. Don't drag Zag and Melinoë into this, y'all are not on the same level of deepness into the greek mythology to have them here.
Seriously? The same punishment as Loki? Y'all ain't even creative. Don't tell me this bitch lover of Sera is gonna stay there with a cup to "help with the pain"
Bro, stop it already with y'all's "well I've always tried to help you, I'm not like the others" it's not gonna cut it anymore
So like, Hades was very hot and you redesigned him into edge lord? Ok.
Ah, so now you explain us about the elusinian stone and why it's so important, at the end of the 2nd episode? Thanks, cool.
Episode 3
Apollo is still serving. By now you should see the pattern of what men I like.
Drop it with the love interest for Seraphim already. I don't believe that a murder machine like him is able to fall for a simple mortal woman. Like this fuck would even care for anything else than his revenge. Well, tbh I didn't believe that he'd care for his biological mother either, so... I just don't like how they portrait him as a weak for love bud. Isn't that a bit unrealistic for a mass murderer with no empathy? Like ain't one supposed to be empathetic to love? Ain't one supposed to feel nothing when killing a shit load of people with no remorse whatsoever? Isn't there some psychological repercussions? No? Ok.
Lmao, suicidal Hades is something new.
Yeah, ofc, let's make Hades seem like a creep again...
Is that weird that I'm more attracted to the demon Seraphim more than to his human form?
Honestly, I'm so tired of media portraying Hera and Demeter as hysterical bitches that know no boundaries. Like come up with something new.
Lol, Hades just made my man enter into an invisible wall to make the wall disappear a second after.
Aren't you supposed to win over his trust? For now you're just venting about your shit ass family to a man that has no family at all. Not very kind tbh
"Look at her! Look at how she suffers!" Meanwhile the girl is just sitting on the ground bumboozeled that the god of the dead and some hot demon guy are looking at her talking some nonsense.
Why, of course she's not gonna suffer ugly like the other wraiths, she's the main hero's love interest, so that's why she looks like she's on some heavy tranquilizers
Yes, of course the prideful demon Seraphim, the murderer of guilty and innocent, the vengeful spirit will succumb to be a pawn in god's hands once again, only to alleviate the suffering of the soul of his beloved! What a bunch of horseshit, guys... I may be delusional enough to be attracted to that man and call him babygirl, but even I understand that this fuck is incapable of love. This isn't his character, it was done to just make him into the "good guy that was just too miserable so he caused a lot of pain to the others". Let's be fair for a sec here, he's a mass murderer, he deserves no forgiveness. Yes, he can be redeemed, but it's a long fucking process, that doesn't always include forgiveness, but a shit load of work and reflection. And therapy. Hades could've "tempt" him to join forces by manipulating his pride and desire to be free, to be above gods. Not love. Love can be ugly, love can be beautiful, love can be an instrument to redeem someone, but by gods, stop using it on every Joe to make him into hero, it's just stupid.
Sera, why are you so easy to manipulate??
Episode 4:
NOOOO, WHY DID YOU TURN HIM HUMAN AGAIN?? BRING BACK THE DEMON LOOK, IT WAS SO GOOOOD!!!
Off topic, but wasn't heron impaled in the middle of his chest? Why's the scar on his tit?
I can't, Aphrodite clinging to Ares's arm 😭😭😭 Stop with itttt!
Okok, one good thing: I like how in the games Heron is drawn to always be in Ares's shadow. A bit on the nose, but I appreciate the symbolism.
Apollo's refusing to compete with Ares?? Apollo?! You're making me laugh.
There's this background god with blueish skin and black wings and I cannot, who are they?? I have to know whom I'm falling for. Is that Thanatos??
Hm, so half the season is wasted on some weird intro to the story itself? Cool. Wow. Never seen that happen.
Episode 5:
You serious? The mighty Zeus, the king of gods, is judged by mere mortals? The pure-blood god, not a bastard child ascended to godhood, but the child of Rhea and Kronos, is judged by some mortal and has to go through the same path as any other human?? Y'all aren't serious. I can't. This is idiotic.
Hera, I don't believe you, that now, all of the sudden you're changing your mind and vouching for Zeus, that he's not that bad. Girl, you unleashed a whole ass box of giants to kill that man just a few weeks ago, why such sudden change of mind??
Zeus, how in the fuck you managed to build a whole ass knowledge bunker under that shabby house of your son without anyone noticing?? Please, share the secret, I also want to be capable of that
Greatest quote of the greatest man in these series, Evios: "Look, I'm alive for two reasons: I was born and I hadn't died yet."
Oke, I can understand why Sera might've fallen for the priestess in a normal situation (if he hadn't been fucked up beyond repair, that is). She's smart, she's beautiful, she's compassionate. A perfect woman, if she had any character to her. But my man is, unfortunately, beyond salvation of any kind, when he met her, he wasn't recovering from the hatred, he was driven by it. How can one love another, when one is fueled by hatred and anger? How can one love, when one had long forgotten what is it to be loved? How can one love, when one is no longer feeling?
Episode 6:
I suddenly like the Heron's arc. Is he gaining some depth to his character? Wow.
Lmao, Sera, you fell from gods know what height and you're still in one piece and not smushed into the ground and around? You are a solid rock of a man.
Ok, maybe Sera is slay in his human form. It's just that he needs to be dressed appropriately. Stop walking around with tits out in and wearing this stupid furry mini skirt and he's looking like a decent man.
Icarus?? Sera, choose another pseudonym, this ain't a good one.
Honestly, I'm kinda digging all that "Demeter, the great mastermind " vibe. Slay queen! Love it for her. She's a bitch in this scenario, but damn she's good at it.
Episode 7:
Y'all, I'm in love with Demeter. This bitch? The bitchiest of them all. Slay 💅
Alexia, girl, how did you survive Talos exploding?? You demigod too? And that big fella who's name wasn't mentioned once this season is he also the same or just explosion-proof?
Ah, yes, his name is Kofi. Could've guessed.
Bruh, you've already done Alexia wrong in this season, why open her character like that in under a minute?? 😭 Opened and immediately closed. Feels like "That's rough, buddy" from Zuko but make it lvl 99 of idgf
And now you're Nobody?? Babe, you decided to fuck with mythology, didn't you? Bad idea.
Also, hadn't Kronos had another design in the beginning, no? Then who was that cosmos looking titan in the beginning?
Wait a moment. Does Sera classify as a demigod? Like, he is partially giant, cuz he ate flesh of one. And he possesses a ton of demigod-like qualities. Could it be that he's the prophecy demigod? Meh, I'm too lazy to look for the prophecy to compare it and actually find out. Will see in a moment what happens.
Episode 8 (finally):
Sera is getting sexier with each challenge.
Heron, surprisingly, is too, getting more attractive.
I absolutely hate Gaia's design. Disgusting.
Lmao, I was right, there's a possibility for Sera to be the prophecy child.
Oh my, are you serious, Hera is a pacifist now?? Y'all are crazy.
This is just a massive slaughter house at this point, gods, what the fuck.
Aw, the brothers are helping eachother in this butchery, how cute.
Heron, chill your ass, you're about to explode.
Btw, where's Evios? And that interesting associate of his.
So, what's that terrible horrible monster whose name we do not say?
Oops, someone pissed off the primordial Gaia. Y'all are fucked. Btw his name's Typhoon. Meh.
In conclusion:
The majority of the script is shite. Some (almost all) of the arcs can be done so much better. Designs suck an ass too. But did I enjoy watching it? Yes. Is it because of Seraphim? Primarily so. But will I wait for the 3rd season? Absolutely yes.
So I loved and hated the show at the same time. The main line is quite interesting nevertheless, so see y'all when the 3rd season is out.
I have a shit load of stuff to say on addition, but this post is long enough in it self, so maybe later.
#blood of zeus#I'm not gonna compare it to hades the game but just so you know i totally was comparing it in my head#guess who's better#also they've just abandoned so many plotlines for no apparent reasons?#what happened to zag and melinoë? i know what happened in the game. why'd you even put them in the series tho? y'all are not even connected#what happened to evios?#what's the beef between ascended demigods and pure blood gods?#there's so much fertile soil for an amazing conflict and you go for a hysterical woman causes trouble. again. and again. and again.#maybe try paying your screen writers a bitore money and give them some more time idk#kinda feel like the whole season was scribbled in a few months on a knee#but whatever

lo and queer masc/man rep
or therefore the complete lack there of. which is incredibly insulting considering how common and prominent it was in original myth (although not always perfect but what greek myth is regardless of straight or gay). also i will be using queer in place of LGBT+ as an umbrella term so if you're not comfortable with that then sorry.
now rachel has made attempts at including queer rep through hestia and athena as lesbians and morpheus (and maybe chiron? idk) as trans women. which could be a whole separate post on its own with the problems that arise with them, but seeing as i am not a lesbian or trans woman, i will not be speaking on them in this post nor to the same degree if i do ever mention them.
what i am is a queer man, both bisexual and trans. i am also a big enjoyer of greek myth. i am not a big enjoyer of lore olympus nor of rachel's complete lack of representation when it comes to men like myself despite it being again very prominent within the original myths. now seeing how badly she has handled other forms of representation for other groups, i am partially glad she hasn't tried. but while i am a little happy, i am more so overall upset and annoyed at this. it comes off as nothing more than simple erasure.
the closest we've seen of rep for queer men/mascs is aged up storge who is more feminine then other men in the story, but this has not been explicitly confirmed therefore i will not be including this. besides men can be both feminine and still cishet. finally storge is a minor background character with little importance, so even if rachel did decide to make him canon queer we likely would not see much of that.
his brother eros is another annoying case as he is unarguably coded as a gay best friend stereotype. but without being gay. he is fashionable, witty, intelligent, dramatic, and always serves as a shoulder for his straight friend to cry on. but again he is not even fucking gay. he is married to a woman with a child. while i would like to see better representation then the gbf stereotype it is still insulting that rachel while coding eros to act like that couldn't even do the bare minimum of making him bisexual.
now it has been pointed out to me that names of male lovers to gods have been used and slapped on female nymphs. krokos (one of persephone's dead nympth friends) was a male spartan lover of hermes, and ampleus (the name pysche took as a nymph) was a lover of dionysus. now i am not upset that rachel didn't include the original stories since the story is already messy enough. i am upset that she took the names of two queer men from myth and slapped them on two woman. one of which ends up marrying a man, and the other dying. a quick google search could show that these names belonged to male lovers of gods, and so to me it comes off as at best lazy and at worst erasure.
i won't be discussing much of dionysus since he was only recently introudced. nor of apollo since the erasure of his queer identity is only one of many problems that occur with his character and how rachel wrote it, which could constitution a completely separate post.
i will be discussing hermes though. as both a character that we have seen a lot of, and as one that has not been completely villainized by the plot. he had an incredibly early appearance in the webtoon and had a handful of myths where he had male lovers or expressed homosexual love. but not a single mention or even passing comment has ever been made about this. it would be incredibly easy for rachel to just throw in one allusion to any of his male lovers (besides krokos who has been turned into a nymph for some reason) yet this never happens.
zeus is another character we have seen a lot of, especially in regards to his many affairs. all of which have canonically been with women. despite the many affairs he carried out with men. one of the most famous being ganymede and the foundation for the myth behind aquarius and the cup bearer. again it would not be so incredibly difficult for rachel to add any allusion to his male lovers. yet again though, nothing. (i will come back to this post after some fast passes become public and i can discuss his treatment as a pregnant man)
poseidon also had a couple queer lovers but besides the reference to the fact that he has a polygam "pod" we haven't actually seen any of his partners besides his wife.
the way rachel draws men with all perfect six pack bodies is also something that annoys me, and i'll be discussing it briefly here. people always comment on the lack of body diversity for the women in the comic but for the men it is much more severe. hermes, thanatos and eros who were all shown to be more skinny and not completely jacked in the beginning of the story are now all ripped with washboard abs. the men are all built like brick walls and it is just upsetting to see as a trans man who does not fit into that category. it sends the message that to be attractive a man must be perfectly fit. not scrawny or skinny or god forbid even fat.
also again as i said in the beginning many of the myths for queer men were just as fucked and problematic. it’s greek mythology it’s inevitable. but i’m more upset over the fact that if rachel can modernize and (attempt to) make hetero myths less gross, then where is that effort for homo myths
overall despite the overwhelming amount of queer man/masc rep that exists within the source material, rachel utilizes none of it. there has not been mention or allusion to a single queer god, forget any trans god. to me it comes off as purposefully ignorant and as erasure of queer men/mascs. which is fucking annoying considering how many of us see ourselves for once fucking represented in these myths. she has plenty of opportunity to include rep for people like myself but continuously chooses not to, instead adding another hetero-centric plot line for no reason. it is tiring and annoying to see so many gods that were queer in their myths not be represented as such. i will not make assumptions about why rachel chooses not to include this kind of rep, i will simply say to me it comes off as blatant erasure.
i could go on, and probably will come back to this post but for now i have said what i have wanted to say.

Polyamory in lore olympus
okay! so you know how I'm a desperate bitch for poly rep... guess I needed to add the word good in front of that cause this shit isn't it.
So one thing that I just need to say.. is I'm confused where the fuck rs is doing her research, cause a polyamorous 'pod' isn't a very common term and has the exact same meaning as polycule. Cause rs has proven to not be one to actually do alot of research, so it feels weird that she used a term like that.
Now another thing is that Poseidon wasn't polyamorous before... I could only really find two thing that point towards that. The first being a joke about him looking a second wife.. which in context is clearly just him using it to edge on hades... and it's never mentioned again.
That and the end of season 2, with the one panel of a bunch of people including Amphitrite hugging Poseidon... I assumed this was just his children. I really don't dislike Poseidon being poly I think it could've been really good rep but rs either did have him being poly since the beginning and just never actually put any thought or time into saying it... or added it after the fact to lampshade and earn more points for being inclusive.
You know what.. it may be the first... but given that we have Persephone saying the identical line as leuce.. and Hades just.. didn't correct her? like come on hades I know your a horny fucker but also Poseidon is now someone whos being actively bigoted against whenever someone saying he's a cheater.. and you don't stand up for him if the person is making you horny? Also it just retroactively makes all the bitching that hades does about his brother cheating gross... cause hades is now basically blaming Poseidon for how OTHER people wrongfully view his poly relationships.
Now something that just really piss me off.. is that this is being confirmed by hades just saying he's poly.. besides one panel of him hugging his partners, we haven't actually seen him being polyamorous. Why was does he still only have one wife, why haven't we seen any of these other partners... and why aren't we learning this from Poseidon himself.
It just... annoys me, am I supposed to applaud at the fact that hades said the word polyamous? We just have Poseidon, Amphitrite and then bunch of nameless and basically faceless people... it just feels so half assed. You just had a wedding scenes.. have Poseidon and his partners be together during that.. have him mention his partners while they did the dumb best man bit. Like have us learn that Poseidon picked hades as his best man over zeus multiple times.. that would be a sort of funny way to learn about it.
Just a little bit more... it wouldn't be that difficult. It really fucking hurt when you have like four separate hetero-normative monogamous relationships that you give so much time and thought into but any level of queer relationship is completely fucking ignored. It's so fucking clear that these are just here to make this comic look more progressive when it just fucking isn't.
Like rs you went out of your way to make Athena and Hestia gay and then just never actually did anything with it... And now Poseidon is the same. You have multiple kinda unnecessary chapters learning about how Aphrodite and Hephaestus got together just so we can have the name drop of Kassandra really... But you don't have at least one chapter actually about either of the queer relationships in this comic.
Also I just think it's important to talk about Zeus with this. I've seen alot of fans say that Zeus is polyamorous because hes a serial cheater.. which is just a wonderful unproblematic stereotype/s. While I don't see as much of that directed at poseiden... he's very much repeatedly labeled as a cheater by the story, so again either rs planned for him to be a poly character and decided it would be... funny? if he was unchallengedly called a cheater repeatedly.. or again Rs retroactively made all the characters that call him a cheater just assholes and also decided it would be best to pick a cheater to be the polyam character.
This really just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, cause polyamorous people have so little representation and most of it is pretty shitty or stereotypical and lore olympus a story so focused on monogamous romances had a great chance to actually make something good... christ one chapter of just Poseiden and his relationship could be enough to make it good. Instead we have a character repeatedly labeled a cheater and then have someone else tell us he's actually poly.

This week's Lore Olympus is PACKED, so strap yourself in, cuz shit's getting wild!
Starting off with Hebe, who ran to the Mortal Realm at Apollo's horrible suggestion. Immediately, she notices that something is very, VERY wrong there. It's not Spring, Summer, or Winter, but something in-between.
Today, we would call it Fall or Autumn, but given her reaction, that wasn't a thing in those days. Additionally, the scale of seasons is way off by her count. If the four seasons are split evenly across the span of the year, they'd be 90 days/3 months apiece.
Winter? Only five days? Pfft, I wish!
On another important note, the mortals are dying of plague. Starvation could absolutely be part of it. This is big trouble for the Olympians...
I had made a comparison in one of my previous LO posts to @neil-gaiman 's American Gods. In that narrative, the Gods wither away and die if there us no one to worship them. It seems not too different with what Hermes is saying here. No believers, no powers, no existence.
Apollo REALLY wants to get murdered at this meeting, doesn't he? Where's Psyche so that she can shoot his ass again?
(Fuck, she's in Leto's prison right now, damn it.)
Apollo's got a lot of nerve pointing fingers when he hasn't done jack-diddly-squat-shit to help. Hell, a big portion of this fuck-fest is his fault to begin with!
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HELP WITH THE KRONOS PROBLEM, APOLLO? OH, THAT'S RIGHT! NO SUN GODS ALLOWED IN THE UNDERWORLD.
Even if he could go to the Underworld, he'd just be a train wreck there as well. Honestly, before Ouranos was revealed to be the one helping Apollo, I would've suspected Kronos to be the culprit. Not sure which is worse.
Let me be clear. I have had A LOT of complaints about Demeter in Lore Olympus. The toxic, controlling behavior made me hate her because I have experience with someone much like her. And to be fair, Demeter still sits on my shit list.
But...
She has finally taken some difficult steps. She went to therapy with Persephone to try fixing their unhealthy relationship. She is struggling hard to be better, and it isn't a TOTAL loss.
This moment here, where she gets in Apollo's face, gives me another crumb of hope for her. First, she attacks his blatant disrespect of Persephone. (True, she has done plenty of her own, but I feel her putting a stop to it here is an important step forward.) Second, she voices how much she is against Apollo being anywhere near Persephone. I'm still not sure if she knows Apollo SA'd Persephone; I think that if she did, she'd be doing much worse than pulling his cape over his head.
Oh, hi Eris! It's been a hot minute since the last time that we saw you! Is this a mental conversation just between you and Apollo? The arrow through the chest bit brings back memories.
Part of me is confused as to why she appears to be beside Persephone in the Underworld in the 3rd shot. Maybe it's a visual in Apollo's head as well? The line "That sounds like something you would do." comes across as her saying it to Apollo, but for Persephone to hear.
Artemis already knows about what happened to Persephone. Her finding out that Apollo poisoned Zeus would NOT come off as farfetched to her at this point.
The blatant, unfiltered disrespect to Hera here is horrific. Hera has NEVER rested on her laurels for what she did to bring down Kronos. She has been mentally and emotionally suffering in silence for millenia. Persephone and... Hestia, I think? have worked to support her and lift her out of her depression. It has helped, but Hera still has a long way to go.
This fucknugget has BEYOND the FUCKING AUDACITY to not only put down the Queen of Olympus, but stab her where it hurts the most.
I hope that when everything falls apart for Apollo, he suffers HORRIBLY and for an extremely long time. I want him to suffer so badly that he begs for mortality and is DENIED so that he KEEPS suffering, just as his victims have suffered. ARGH!
Anyway, thanks for coming to my LO post!

Wait no tell me more about Dick Grayson the miraculous holder for the day
OKAY you asked for it we're going on a whole other tangent first
I have a headcanon that in Aurélia's verse, each superhero has a list for who can step in to be their hero identity if needed. It started with Steph sometimes going out as Aurélia-Batgirl when Aurélia needed to be somewhere (so that people wouldn't connect no-Batgirl with Aurélia) and then Aurélia covered as Spoiler when Steph was injured so people wouldn't put together Spoiler being MIA and Steph Brown having a broken arm, and Bruce thinks that's a very good idea (eg, Batman can be seen while Brucie Wayne is at a gala) so they all sit down and make lists, based on appearance (eg Steph & Aurélia, Jason as an alt Batman because of size, Thomas & Tim), specific abilities (Aurélia as Nightwing because of the gymnastics, Tim as Oracle bc tech, Damian as Orphan bc ninja), and ability to just act like each other
and also, Aurélia might have been Robin first, but she really is Dick & Babs' superhero lovechild but especially she is Dick's legacy like, they fight the same way, her weapon as Drakena is escrima sticks because that's what Dick uses, I can't explain all of it she just really is and it's very important to me
so when Aurélia first got the miracle box from Bruce (and specifically the Hestia miraculous) she made a backup plan for what if she can't fight, and that plan is Dick Grayson. They fight the same way so there won't be the difficulties that Adrien and Marinette had when they swapped, and Dick is the only Batfam/Justice League affiliated person that she trusts could stop her and not get akumatized himself if he came to Paris. And she knows that the only way that she wouldn't be able to use her miraculous is if she got akumatized and if that happened, she knows that neither her team or Marinette & Adrien's team could stop her, they need someone who can
(which is the reason she hasn't asked for help dealing with Hawkmoth, the level destruction that could happen if a Justice League member got akumatized would be...... universe ending, probably)
so anyways anyways Aurélia gets akumatized (terrible time, she has repressed the fuck out of everything and kept her head clear for so long but after Miracle Queen aka after dealing with Audrey, she snaps. Leaves her bracelet in a box in her room and runs away beacuse she knows she's going to break and is trying to get as far away as possible before she does), Luka finds Adrien and just tells him straight up that hey, Aurélia is going to be akumatized
Adrien runs home and tries to find her in her room, she's not there, but he finds her miracle box and a note with a phone number and "just in case", doesn't know what it means but calls (it's the Batcave). Which leads to Dick showing up in Paris (side note – in this headcanon the zeta tubes are not working which is why Aurélia didn't just leave Paris/France completely, but he has Wally speed him there and then immediately leave so he doesn't get akumatized), meets Adrien for the first time, and ends up using Aurélia's miraculous to help fight
bonus fun fact, although Marinette didn't want to bring back any of the hero team after Miracle Queen, she has to bring back Luka because without time travel they would all be fucking dead af
(also i love her akuma form so much)

A study in Obi-Wan's homeworld, Stewjon, Vol. iii:
vol. i: a brief overview of terrain, seasons, inhabitants, and culture
vol. ii: the known history of stewjon
Stewjon has four main deities:
Spirit of the Hearth
Spirit of the Water
Spirit of the Below
Spirits of the Skies
Each of these deities have their own respective lesser spirits, but the worship of these lesser spirits is on a much more personal and private level. The four main deities are usually celebrated with family and community-wide events. None of them have formal places of worship (churches, temples, ect), but villages will have public shrines dependent on their population and the main export/business of their community (Hearth shrines are most common in farming settlements, Water at combat training grounds, Skies at trading outposts, ect).
The spirit of the Hearth is a being made of stone and gentle flame, and is the most powerful of the deities on Stewjon. They represent home, harvest, family, and fertility. There are many ways to honor the Hearth, but the most common is to just keep a fire lit inside the home at all times (which is no hardship given the cold climate of Stewjon). The second most common method is to leave a gift, usually carved wood, at one of the public Hearth shrine(s) found within most communities. These shrines are also commonly seen along travel lanes so people can make offerings for safe passage to and from home.
(Hearth spirit is most comparable to Thor, Crom Cruach, or Hestia)
The spirit of Water is the deity of the warrior, they represent strength, exploration, rebirth, bravery, and battle. It is found in every naturally formed circular pond or lake and is marked by a mossy obelisk to indicate it as a place of worship. Stewjoni are not known for their skills in battle, nor do they have a formal military, but there are still those who choose to train to fight, whether it be against invaders or the predators that roam the planet. For ranged weapons, they use imported blasters (usually mismatched so there are no records of bulk shipments) and the most common close combat ones are spears and naginata-like weapons.
(Water spirit is most comparable to the Sea Mither)
The spirit of the Below is both a deity and a way of being. They represent community, protection, and working together to survive against the odds. This spirit is usually depicted as a glowing jellyfish-like creature who shifts in color and lives in the deepest of the underground tunnels.
(Below spirit is most comparable to Parcae or Cailleach)
The spirits of the Skies are wisps of starlight. They are the ancestors, they represent life after death, miracles, travel, and connections to the past. Those who are Force sensitive on Stewjon are referred to as Star Touched and are respected members of society.
(Skies spirits are most comparable to fairies/ghosts)
Notably, Stewjon does not have deities dedicated to health nor weather. The Stewjoni worship old religion, but they do not ignore modern science. They do not believe spirits will heal the sick or revive a drowned crop.
The most celebrated holiday on Stewjon is Fire Nights (see vol. i), which includes the worship of all four deities. During this week, the spirits of the Skies come down and touch the planet's surface to celebrate and then help move people to their underground homes. It is said the spirits then stay on the surface through the harsh season to aid the Hearth and Water deities in protecting the planet.
Other holidays throughout the year include:
a harvest festival at the start of the season
waterside celebrations on the dates of significant battles
the date Stewjon fucked off from the rest of the galaxy
and a 2 week period where Stewjon invites their Kage cousins to come visit so the rest of the galaxy remembers their alliance and shared history (threat)

With Percy Jackson and The Olympians Priemering Today here are some changes that would have made more sense with Greek Mythos than what Rick did (I love him but holy hell is none of it Accurate):
The big 3 would not have stopped having kids cause WWII (and I pray they change it in the show. it gives me the ick). Personally either, use Nazi's to have used Demigods as weapons against their will and have the gods agree no more kids to protect them, or WWI (it's a less fucked up idea, but aligning with countries over trade and political tensions is better than Nazi's). Also cold war could work but only to an extent. I know the prophecy was also a reason but good god let's get rid of the nazi's, please!
Athena is the virgin goddess. It's one of her epithets, Parthenos, the virgin Athena (what the Parthenon is named after). No kids, she has no time for romance. Now Artemis and Hestia? They're both virgin goddesses, with it being sacred, but Hestia being a goddess of the Family and hearth, and having kids would make sense (also fire Annabeth and Water Percy), whilst it's not clear if Artemis is 100% no romance (The Orion myth where their in love is only one retelling and it's the one I hate the most), but whether through her maidens, or as her role as a goddess of childbirth, or she's just a lesbian and sometimes they want kids, it's more likely than Athena. Honestly, the demigods of Artemis being the children Artemis helped birth from victims of assault would be a cool concept, the kids could be left at camp halfblood at an early age, and when the hunters visit, they could see their mums and aunts, whilst the mums could heal and know their kid is safe. Anyways, I'm 100% Athena is no romance, no sex, but loves friendships. She and Telemachus are besties, so she def has mortal friends. She and Paul would be good friends. New AU, Athena sets Paul up with Sally, cause she was already friends with Paul and is like "they'd be happy". Aphrodite is jealous that she didn't get it first.
Dinoysis should not be camp director, banished or not. What would make more sense: Ares camp director. The Greeks (Sparta and their colonies are the exception, not the rule) kinda hated Ares but in most of the myths he's in he's at best actually helping win wars, or at worst, the problem child (and the whole jar incident where he got trapped and Artemis and Hermes rescued him. Ares was hated because he represented the brutality of war, along with the revenge and cost with the eventual victory, whilst Athena was the tactics, strategy and cunning that brings victory. Regardless, in Mythos, Ares is a pretty chill guy (just not on the Battlefield.) Ares loves training, battle, and his kids. He is a girl dad (the Amazons are his kids, and he adores them), and would probably love any kid who showed an interest in fighting and battle, no matter the weapon. And it's in line with his character. He does something, gets kicked off Olympus for a bit, and gets thrusted to camp halfblood, and all the gods are like "Yeah lol, he hates kids, he's gonna hate it", but then he's there and he's like "I'm gonna teach you how to spear 3 horses in a row!" His kids love having him there, and he just kinda adopts the kids who's parent hasn't claimed them. He also will escort demigods home and threaten neglectful/shit parents. He will adopt kids who's mortal parent has abandoned them/died. Ares is camp father, and he's a damn good one. Though maybe he does get a little riled up by captue the flag.
I know the Amazons are in Heroes of Olympus, ha ha Amazon joke, but Amazon is an evil company and I hate it. The Amazon's also live in camp halfblood as trainers, friends, family, and loyal daughters of Ares. Most daughters of Ares get integrated into the Amazon's and they go on yearly retreats to Circe's island.
In later mythos Apollo became a god of the sun, and Artemis the moon, but Selene and Helios are still important players with interesting myths, and I know the whole "mortals forget" thing but Renaissance art did not. Have a plot about Endymion, Selene's forever-asleep boyfriend, Circe is a daughter of Helios, he could have other, powerful witches in their own right. Medea being a grandaughter of Helios is critical to her power and downfall. In mythos she never dies, merely disappears. Why is she evil? She is misunderstood and fuck Jason.
My hatred of Zeus runs deep and is too complicated to get into, but he is the true antagonist of Greek mythology, and I hate him. Everyone should hate Zeus.
Persephone and Hades relationship is too strained, and they never cheat on each other (Thesus and Pirithous. Once again, Rick is too kind to absolute dicks of mythology). The only time they have was Adonis and that one is weird and possibly mistranslated, but yeah, only times they cheat is when Zeus...assaulted his daughter *gags*, though in other translations the results of those unions are Hades. Hades though? Has never cheated on her. If one fell in love with a mortal, the more likely (and in my opinion sweeter outcome) is polyamory. Or have Hades and Persephone be the patron gods of any and all children of underworld gods (Thanatos, Melione ect)
On the Persephone thing, Persephone being a nature goddess is...loose? Demeter brings spring when reunited with her daughter, making Persephone's role not really nature goddessey. More interestingly greeks use the title Dread Persephone, and her role in stories aligns her as an underworld goddess. If you want an interesting deep dive into this watch OSP: Hades and Persephone on YouTube, its super interesting and goes into it better. Also fuck lore Olympus while I'm here.
Aphrodite and Hephestus being together is not always present in written works of Greek mythos. In Homer's Illiad Aphrodite is unmarried and a consort of Ares, whilst Hephestaus has his own wife, Charis. Then Homer contradicts himself (tbf, might not be a real guy) and states Aphrodite and Hephaestus are married and Ares is Aphrodite's homewrecker. So not even one (supposed) guy can keep it straight. It varies from myth to myth. Hell, at the end of some retellings of Aphrodite and Ares in chains in Hephestaus's bed, they straight up divorce. This is less nitpicky of Rick because Greek mythos has no cannon and everything is a constant mess, but with all the... less than stellar relationships within the pantheon and wider worship, it's ok to have a pairing that while is thought of, have a canonical divorce.
Also, Cupid would out Nico, Eros would not, and Psyche would punch him.
Why is Medusa solely based off of Ovid's terrible interpretation?IDK I'm not particularly fond of Ovid's retellings of myth, because of his...baggage issues. I know it's the more popularised one, but Ovid's entire story of Perseus is...so fucked up. This is also my anger toward wider mythos fans who argue whether Athena did a cool feminist thing or punished Medusa for being assaulted. In the older retellings, she was just a monster and it's so less fucked up.
Where is Ariadne? If we ignore my Ares rant, why is she not with her husband? or at least frequently visiting him? And why is she not called up in Balle of the Labyrinth? She is the patron goddess of it. Give her a cookie Percy, It'll help.
I have more but they relate to specific parts of the plot of a book, but if people are interested I can and will complain more. Sea of Monsters is the main one that comes to mind, but I'm rereading the series atm, so I can make ongoing lists. Also, I do love Percy Jackson, but I cannot think of it as having any relationship to actual Greek mythos or history or I'll scream. If you want to write an AU with any of these ideas please let me know, I love Greek mythos and I love interpretations of stories told for thousands of years.

Lore Olympus Rambles - aka. who the fuck could that child deity be???
If I'm being honest with you, I'm not here to truly come to conclusions. This will simply be a post compiling different arguments as to the possibilities on the answer to this question. Some of them will be mine, but not all of them.
Sorta-Option-A: It might not actually be Dionysus
Ok, I'm just gonna say it. Dionysus has probably already been born in this 10 year interval, or at least exists in some capacity.
I assume this because Minos is already dead -he is one of the judges of the dead-, and he is the father of Dionysus' wife Ariadne. If Minos is dead, then it's because Daedalus and a bunch of princesses already boiled him, which means that the events of Theseus and the Minotaur already happened.
Also, Zeus was sleeping with Semele 10 years ago, Zeus is a sexist pig and mortals get old fast so :/ I doubt Zeus would still sleep with her if she had matured. I mean it's not impossible, but still.
This however brings the question of how Rachel would avoid the -admittedly kinda distant, but still- incest if these 2 parentages are true. Here's my guesses on how the story would go to solve this:
Minos thinks he is the son of Zeus, but he's just the son of Europa and maybe Asterius?? Maybe that'll be a mini character arc for him, assuming that he's the one who's butthurt over his former glory.
If all of this is true, however, then Ariadne and Dionysus are probably still very young. Maybe this version will recontextualize Theseus' betrayal as not only taking advantage of a girl who loved him but a little girl at that and then leaving her stranded away from her family. I mean, he did abduct Helen that one time when she was way too young, and we know she already exists in the story by now, so. Not the first time he would screw over a child. Maybe Dionysus and Ariadne will be a childhood romance in this version of the story.
If Dio is still a child then, and Perse will become one of his foster parents -debatably the most important in fact- then Hades' alcoholism could probably be foreshadowing as to how he will discover his divine domain.
In some tellings of the story, however, Semele commits suicide and Dio takes her from the underworld to deify her, so that's another strong contender for how they'll meet. Or you know, she could just live in Naxos for a while until they meet.
Or maybe after Zeus sowed him into his ballsack thigh Dionysus was just sorta born as an adult like Athena. It wouldn't be the biggest change from ""canon"" in this story.
However there's another way of kinda almost solving the incest thing, which takes us too...
Option B: Zagreus, but it's also Dionysus, aka. Orphic Dionysus.
The biggest piece of evidence for this is Hera's current situation with Kronos. Whichever way orphic Dionysus' or Zagreus' parentage swings, Hera "sends the Titans" to kill him because he will represent a threat to the cycle of successions.
Maybe this child deity is waiting for a body to inhabit, which will be Perse and Hades' child, and Kronos is trying to persuade Hera to prevent this.
In at least one version, Semele is a sort of second womb for what remains of the baby. It would be a it jarring if the story introduced her for nothing after all. However then Dionysus wouldn't be a true son of Zeus, just the son of one of his lovers, and distantly his nephew by way of Hades? Listen, I just kinda want Zag to be a thing in the story.
Option C: Melinoë
An option which I considered relatively improbable but which @encephalopoda reinforced by reminding me that she's not just the goddess of ghosts, she is the bringer of nightmares. She fits neatly with the Underworld and Kronus' use of her powers.
If the deity is also whoever appeared in that mural, well, she is the only square female option here, although Dionysus was raised by his aunt as a girl in the myths and has an Androgynos epithet.
Option D: Demophon is sorta all of the above:
What happened in Attica, Hestia asked? Demophon happened is what. I'm actually kinda angry at myself for not getting it at first because I forgot Attica was part of Eleusis.
For those not in the know, Demeter disguised herself as an old woman and became a wet nurse to the children of Queen Metanira (who we see when she wakes up). She breastfeeds one of them, Triptolemon, and he instantly becomes an adult, then she tries to turn Demophon into a deity by anointing him in ambrosia and burning him over the fireplace, but then Metanira catched her and the ritual could not be completed.
So it is possible that this new deity is the result of that, if the timelines match.
Option E: No, it probably isn't Eileithyia
Remember when Hera said something about Hebe's "Lazy Sister" and we all assumed it was Athena? Nah, it was probably Eileithyia, goddess of childbirth.
She seems to be suggested because she is a female deity closely related to fertility and thus potentially the one in the mural, but I just don't see it champs :/

hades? and maybe hestia?
Hades has these really sick ass epithets that I don’t think get talked about enough. “Host To Many” I just start going feral because!!! The epithet implies he isn’t just ruling over the dead, they are under his home and his care and he’s extending his hospitality to them and I love that. Also, “the beautiful haired one” being an epithet for him is just sick as fuck. Like, not only his he this super powerful deity, but his hair is on point.
Hestia is. So insanely cool. Like, y’all don’t get it. She’s the oldest Olympian/child of Kronos, and cities quite literally can’t exist without her. Ever city in ancient Greece MUST have had a sacred hearth dedicated to her. And also, she was always the first to receive offerings in the home. While there may be limited myths surrounding her, she arguably played one of the most important roles in every day life for the ancient Greeks.

for my abandoned love is...kinda bad, imo. or aka for my derelict favorite. I'm talking about the comic only, as I haven't the time nor interest to read the novel. TW: suicide mention, SA mention, Grape
Hestia is kind of a huge hypocrite, which is funny considering she accused Diana of being as such. Maybe it's the terrible(off-kilter, 'cause it's not that bad) translation but I don't get Hestia's deal. Kael was "abandoned", sure but he literally killed an entire family* so can you really blame Diana and the Crown Prince for not wanting to associate with him?** This seems like a problem they could just speak to each other about instead jumping to the nuclear option immediately and declaring these two people are your mortal enemies.
*Who from my understanding, just bullied Diana a little. Not really something you kill someone, less so their entire family, over. It makes you come off as psychopath.
**Also, the whole Diana and the Crown Prince leaving him thing. They are characters in a fucking novel, so honestly, how much control are they in their actions? All of their actions during the entire run of the novel are predetermined. Shouldn't this be a topic of much discussion in Hestia's mind? It be a much different story if she time traveled back to the beginning of the novel but alas, she didn't. Oh well. I guess you couldn't villianize Diana*** if that was the case though.
***Holy shit, does this comic tries its damnest to make me hate Diana but I'm just more confused than anything. Like, honestly. What's the worst thing Diana even do? Reject a boy? He's not owed her affection, especially since he fucking committed murder of all things. (also, remember their actions were predetermined. Diana LITERALLY had no choice in rejecting Kael.) Like, what do you want her to do? She's a saintess, too. Obviously, murder is probably against one of her core beliefs. The worst thing I can think she did is not check up on Kael after his suicide attempt but tbh, we as the audience don't FUCKING know if she did or not. I should bring this important plot point up now, but Hestia travels back in time in order to prevent Kael's suicide. Anyway, she travels back in time right? Also, keep in mind that Hestia is NOT close to any of these people prior to the time travel. Guess what she's getting all of her information from? The fucking newspaper. As if the newspaper is going to report the inner workings of their lives, you fucking asshole(Hestia). Also, also, The crown prince, whose goes by Helios, whose also goes by Hyperion when he's traveling in secret.
What I am trying to say is, Helios, aka Hyperion could've visited Kael in secret to check in on him for all we know, but Kael and him could've had a fight and split off. I'm just supposed to take Hestia word for it that these two people are assholes and hypocrites after the time travel.
Hestia as a whole is just a really unlikable person. I don't like her. She's manipulative, hypocrite who fangirls over her bias(understandable but I find it annoying and weird in this character) . Yet I'm supposed to find her charming instead of completely fucking deranged. Hestia, the one who isekai'd in this story, was the ONLY one who had the free will to make her own choices during the entire duration of the novel and after. Hey, guess what, dipshit? Why didn't YOU try to date Kael during the novel's run if you knew he was going to be rejected? Before anyone gets on me for this point, I know she was satisfied just watching the three but I think these types of stories are better when they intervene during the novel's plot, not afterwards. I mean, look how much this story fucks it up.
Also:
Take this as you will. I'm, for one, am a Diana defender. So, it's really upsetting(also extremely off-putting(who the fuck says this about anything, really!?)), comment for me.
Apologies to end this on a sour note but I screen-capped it for a reason. The hate for such a milquetoast character is so fucking odd in my opinion. Most of the comments towards Diana are like this for some reason.
Anyway, those are my very bland but tasty thoughts on my abandoned love!❤️
Till next time, see ya!
UPDATE: I tried rereading to see if I change my mind, but nope! In fact, I fucking HATE Hestia. Hayan was bearable but Hestia is loathsome.
