Sometimes I feel like people in the queer community will course correct way too hard when trying to be better people than those before them, and end up repeating the cycle that oppressed them in an attempt to be “respectful” and not give the community a bad name. That type of rhetoric perpetuates the puritanical ideas that have kept our community in chains for years, and trying to put people in neat categories will not make the world want you anymore than it already does. You don’t get revolution and change with conformity or palatability, you get it with being unabashed and making others realize they can’t just ignore you anymore. Quote from my therapist “If the others around you aren’t going to challenge their own beliefs, you’re going to have to do it for them.”

Things like asexuality, non-binary identities, flexible presentation, bi and pansexuality, and being able to love and exist the way you want to are valid.

So are things like queer people being able to be sexual, identities not having labels, people not wanting to label themself, people not wanting to talk about the queerness, someone identifying in ways that may seem contradictory, or just not having presentation the way you’d expect someone of a certain label to have. Humans are creatures of habit who love to put things in boxes, for liberation we must be able to break those boxes and realize that our community as a whole isn’t cut and dry, and that it’s okay for things to be a bit messy.

it took a lot of thinking to settle on knowing if i was a trans guy but what really solidified it to me was being unable to live with the thought of dying as anything but an old man. i can't imagine not having grey facial hair and old faded top surgery scars and maybe grandchildren who call me "grandpa". i just cant live with the thought of my gravestone having "daughter, wife, aunt, niece, grandmother," carved into it along with the name of a stranger. they can't ask me to die as a her. They won't kill me as a her. they wont bury me as a her. Its not fair. They can carve the wrong name into stone and dig up my bones and say "this skeleton makes a woman" but i assure you i'm going to die as a man with the name those close to my heart know me by. and i'm going to live long enough to meet him, the future version of me, because if theyre gonna try to bury me as a woman theyre gonna have to try and kill the man in me to do it. and ill cackle from my casket knowing they had to try to erase me in death because i wouldnt let them do it while i was alive. I saw a post here on Tumblr once that went something like "in a world where god, Jesus, and the apostles are all men, that has to do something psychologically to women" and it made me think: The Netflix version of the show "She-Ra Princess of Power" is a show that is HEAVILY women centric. We know maybe three guys in power, King Micah (who, after his return from Beast Island, wasn't *really* in power), the head sorcerer in Mystacor, Hordak/Horde Prime. (please do correct me if I am wrong) The show, albeit about princesses, has the princesses have actual roles. Even the ones that are "weak" or perceived to be weaker than the others (read: Perfuma), are extremely powerful.

The two men whom we consistently meet in the show other than Hordak, Bow and Seahawk, are not the "macho man" in most shows. Seahawk sings an entire shanty as to how lonely he is and how he just wants to be friends with Mermista, and Bow cries and even hugs frequently all the other characters in the show. Both talk about their emotions and work through them in /relatively/ healthy ways (the Dragon's Daughters 1-3 will be sorely missed). My point being, is that the women in the show are shown as strong, beautiful, muscular, fierce, sad, frustrated, loving, traumatized, hurt, laughing, and more. They all have different body shapes/ types of bodies. There are three openly gay couples: Bow's dads, Spinerella and Netossa, and Catra and Adora. Incredible! In a kids show (and adults too lets be real) there are three openly gay couples. No one treats them any different. Bow is one of 13 kids of George and Lance. No one bats an eye. In fact, according to She-Ra Wiki page (https://she-raandtheprincessesofpower.fandom.com/wiki/LGBTQIAP%2B), so many characters are queer. Besides the ones listed above: - Scorpia and Perfuma are romantically involved - Bow is Bisexual - Glimmer is Bisexual - Mermista is Bisexual - Seahawk is Bisexual (dated Falcon) - Falcon is Gay - Lonnie is Poly and Bisexual (dating Rogelio and Kyle) - by extension Rogelio and Kyle are queer - Entrapta is bi - Jewelstar is trans - Peekablue is gender non-conforming - Double Trouble is nonbinary and there is MORE In the show, as there are a ton of non humans, almost any time we meet someone, she/her pronouns are used (see episodes when Best Friend Squad are in the crimson waste). When the princesses work together, they turn into the colors of the rainbow and their powers are enhanced. Little girls are getting to see themselves as normal. Women aren't treated as secondary citizens. Hell, almost every Bright Moon guard we see is female. How would the world be different if shows like this were the norm? Where women are able to be magical, and they aren't dressed to show off their bodies? Where women's armor actually protects them? Where they grunt and are sweating after they fight? oh another little detail about Nimona that fucked me up:

Which always, always results in trying to be more straight than straight people, more cis than the cis. It’s part of why the ‘queer is a slur’ bullshit spread so far. “Monster” replaces “queer” in that scene. Bal can’t bring himself to call his friend a word that he has since learned is painful and was used to hurt her, but he still means it. He won’t let it out of his mouth, but he still means it, with the same spitting hate as everyone else.

Bal still hated That One Part Of Her. He loved Nimona, his friend and ally, but she was Monster, and just like all the “LGB without the T” fuckheads, he was scared Nimona’s transness would drag him down even further. He still wanted to assimilate, be accepted.

hey sorry this isnt really an ask so much as a vent abt being 'cis' intersex. I stumbled across a video of someone bragging about disarming anti-trans talking points by telling a cis man with gynecomastia 'he doesnt need gender affirming healthcare! he shouldn't mutilate his body!'

I cant be the only person who thought this was such a fucked up thing to say but everyone else was encouraging this behaviour and its kinda devastating to see.

I understand the frustration the trans community experiences as someone who is also trying to get medical procedures done. but the intersex community is the LAST community that anger should be taken out on

We are the last people who need to be reminded that sex and gender aren't binary.

We are the last people that 'need to be shamed' for not fitting into those binaries.

intersex people are not 'lucky' for being medically pressured into erasing their intersexuality. We are not lucky for being forced to undergo medical procedures to conform.

And as of lately, I've seen way too much infighting specifically coming from perisex trans people trying to belittle intersex cis people to try and 'prove a point.'

I cant be the only one noticing this.

I also commented on OPs video to tell them intersex people are not the enemies of trans people, and they refuted gynomastia isnt inherently an intersex condition, saying i missed the point of the video being about how society views some gender affirming care to be acceptable but not transness. He also said that the situation was a hypothetical and didnt actually happen.

But still, trans advocacy has no excuse to build itself upon the hatred towards intersex people. And whether that conversation was 'real' or not was irrelevant considering the hundreds of comments taking inspiration from him and claiming to partake in bullying obvious intersex people.

and off topic, his point wasnt correct. I'm a cis intersex male with a female presenting phenotype, and I've been denied top surgery for years and been pressured into transitioning to a girl because it would be easier for me to pass as one than to pass as a guy. despite me being a cis guy.

The blatant intersexism I've been seeing with the trans community has not only been growing, but completely welcomed into the arms of other perisex trans people.

Im 'cis' because i identify with a gender that correlates with my sex. i'm 'trans' because im transitioning to better conform to my gender. I'm so sick of intersex erasure from queer communities. cis intersex people are not less queer. we are not less likely to be victims of transphobic violence or medical violence.

I want this ignorance to stop but I dont see an end, even in so called 'allies' who turn their backs on intersex people to spew this kind of bullshit. I'm sorry for such a downer but I dont have anyone in my life who would take my side or understand where I'm coming from, and my account has absolutely no reach to the intersex community

agreed, that's not okay. people are being so rude right now. cis intersex people don't deserve to get any shit. it's perfectly okay to be cis and intersex. you should never get angry at an intersex person who isn't trans what the hell? honestly it's hard to participate in discussions in trans spaces as an intersex person. i do understand the frustration it becomes nigh impossible to speak up about how it's okay if intersex people aren't trans or gay or bi or anything like that and that they should still be accepted as intersex

idk how intersex cis people could ever be a threat to me. i don't mind that at all. like we still have a ton in common. we're both still people. we both still have unique lives and struggles. we both have something to learn from one another. i actually have a lot to learn from intersex people who want to be seen as cis or fight for it.

i'm tired of people trying to draw lines in the sand when it comes to who "counts" as intersex. it's so cruel. i don't like it one bit. it's not helping anyone and it's talking over intersex people. but any time intersex people talk it's somehow transphobic. can't win.
