Aviators as heroes: more than two million people lined up to cheer Captain Hermann Koehl (waving with hat), Major James C. Fitzmaurice (waving), and Baron Ehrenfried Guenther Von Huenefeld (seated behind right) during their ticker tape parade, May 17, 1928. They had flown from Dublin to Newfoundland in their plane, the Bremen 2504, in 36.5 hours.

I LOVE ALL OF THESE CHARACTERS BTW. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE YOUR HATE FOR THEM ON MY POST
#textboxes#deltarune#susie deltarune#lancer deltarune#kris dreemurr#ralsei#my art#long post#hi welcome to my secret notes about this textbox adventure!#my developer's commemtary if you will.#i originally drew susiezilla in her light world color palette. but i changed it afterwards because i realized she likes herself better in#the dark world than in the light world. if she were to draw an idealized version of herself it'd be based on her dark world form.#if you pay attention to kris' drawing you'll see that they tried to give it big angel wings. but it's kind of hard to do that when you can'#control yourself.#i named Urisk that to complete the . uhm. quadfecta?#Frisk Urisk Chara Kris. or FUCK for short.#i was going to give urisk angel features because they're so Good. but i realized ralsei probably considers devils to be good rather than#angels. since he exists to banish the angel's heaven and all the heroes have strong devil motifs surrounding them.#i still gave them a halo though bc i still wanted them to seem Good.#i feel like the pacing on this one could have used some improvement#but overall i'm just happy i got it done! i'm very proud of it :]#that's the thing about these textboxes. it's really hard to go back and change previous textboxes#you've just gotta keep on chuggin forward until you reach the end! no looking back!#anyway i hope you enjoyed this one! :3#oh also. i put kris on the opposite side of everyone else to symbolize their isolation from everyone else bc of the soul#okay actually i have more to say. so susie's drawing looks like something hou could actually draw on a paper#meanwhile ralsei's was based on the drawing on his unused manual. which has pure black outlines and perfectly filled colors like it was mad#in ms paint. also i was originally going to include noelle and berdly in this too#berdly's OC was going go be Super Lord Berdly; Mayor of Smartopia#and noelle's OC was going to be really beautiful but really tragic

prohero!katsuki // job fair
event m.list
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it’s been three hours since katuski’s surgery and four since when you were supposed to clock out. with your schedule clear for the rest of the night, you’ve done nothing but pace around his room with his chart tightly clutched under your arm and your ears sharp on the monitor tracking his heart rate.
“we expecting someone?” you hear muffled from the head of the hospital bed.
an air of relief left katsuki’s mouth once your face came into view- even if it did look like you were about to finish the villain’s job.
your hand comes up and brushes a stray piece of hair off of his forehead, and drags your fingers down to rest on the side of his face where a bandage had covered the majority of his cheek.
“you idiot. i should fucking kill you right now,” you softly say, “three villains and you didn’t even bother calling for backup? are you stupid?”
“all i’m hearing is that i’m keeping you employed,” he faintly chuckles, “sorry you had to see my ass in your hospital again.”
katsuki winces as he brings his hand up to touch yours, lightly resting his fingertips on top of your knuckles.
“making me see you on my operating table definitely takes the cake for the most annoying thing you’ve done. didn’t think you could be any more insufferable, but you surprise me everyday, dynamight.”
“katsuki,” he corrects, “and glad to be of service.”
a beat of silence looms over you as you inspect each other’s faces. katsuki notes the dark circles under your eyes and twitchy fingers pressed against his cheek. you notice the rare softness in his face as he looks up at you.
“don’t scare me like that again, okay?” you whisper, “i didn’t appreciate the heads up text either.”
“didn’t like that? thought i was doing you a favor.”
“you could’ve died and your last text to me could’ve been about fucking voice to text recognition, katsuki.” you exclaim, “how fucked up is that?”
“better that than nothing at all. if i was going to die i would’ve sent a better one, but i knew i wasn’t.” he rolls his eyes, “so stop yelling at me when i’m all cut up in this fucking hospital bed.”
you scoff, moving your hand to your side, “you pros are nothing but a bunch of cocky do-gooders who cause trouble for everyone else to clean up after.”
“well lucky for you, i’m out of business for a while."
you begin gathering your items from the chair off to the side, stuffing your paperwork and notebooks into your bag.
"good. maybe you can reevaluate your lifestyle choices and start prioritizing your health or something.”
after slinging your bag over your shoulder and giving your tired eyes a good rub, you scan over the room, making sure it’s set for the overnight nurse and for katsuki's comfort.
“why would i do that when this is the easiest way to see you?”
your breathing goes uneasy for a second. if it was you that was hooked to the monitor, you were sure that it would be reading as a cardiac arrest.
“i promise you that there are easier ways. especially if it’s you,” you quip, “the overnight nurse should be checking in soon, but you have my number,” you narrow your eyes to his, “don’t abuse it, but message me if you have any questions.”
katsuki trails you as you double check the IV bags and monitors connected to him one last time as if the moment you left those doors, he might not be alive the next day. it was easy for him to see- that despite your protests and constant denial, you care a lot more than you let on.

Hero of Bombs - My Hero
Whether your hero is fictional or not, I don’t think it matters - what matters is the light & courage they give you when life is dark & frightening. ⚔️🍃
I’ve talked about what Ingo means to me as a character, but not Link. As I thought about it, this is what flowed out (lol…how did my silly AU end up having all these serious art therapy stuff?)
On that note, some of the adults in my life wanted me to quit drawing. My drawings were ripped up a couple times, & I was told art was useless, that no matter how hard I tried someone will always be better than me. Somehow, no matter how very mean they got about it, I still made art, & I’m very glad I did: art helped me survive.
If it helps you weather life’s storms, don’t ever stop creating. 🩵🌧️
PS: that little drawing at the end is a tracing from one of my drawing diaries when I was little, full of fanart & fancomics. ;u;

this image pose template from here
HC since SWK cane change his size, the same applies for his Azure Dome form. So he can be as big as a mountain, or the size of a big yaoguai, or normal sized (whatever normal sized is for the Stone Monkey)

TW: ABUSE, CHILD ABUSE
“He wants to air this dirty laundry to the world does he…? Dabi, you fiend…you’ve been waiting for this moment…when they couldn’t prevent mass destruction…and faith in heroes is wavering.” - chapter 292
I truly, wholeheartedly, believe that MHA as a story upholds the myth of the perfect victim. I do not want to discuss if Horikoshi did that on purpose, or subconsciously because of inner bias – I find no meaning in doing so. For me the execution of an idea, in the grand scheme of the narrative, holds more value than the intention of the author. I’ve also had my fair share of people infantilizing Asian authors in the anime community for their poor writing decisions for one lifetime. It’s patronizing to both the author and the people reading it. Whether or not Horikoshi intended for his themes of abuse to paint the picture they did does not matter, because that’s how it reads as.
MHA puts victims of abuse in narrow boxes and softly dictates what’s an acceptable reaction to said abuse. Victims are continuously walking a tightrope between being deserving of compassion and sympathy and being unredeemable monsters who are too far gone and are only good for martyrdom after being put down.
Eri fits the clean cut depiction of abuse victims that media usually gears towards. She is untouched by the cruelty around her - she preserves her innocence and kindness. She isn't assertive, but rather meek and passive. She doesn't fight back with force. And when offered help, she is receptive to it. That is not to say that Eri's depiction doesn't have a place in fiction, or that her portrayal can't be representative of the experiences of some - as we all deal with trauma and the inhumanity people throw at us differently. We see the same thing in the portrayal of Fuyumi, who shares many of the qualities discussed above. The same thing applies to her - i personally love the idea of all the siblings having different reaction to their childhood trauma and abuse. It shows that victims are not some type of monolith.
But the narrative treats the "forgiving" or "receptive to help/support" victims of abuse with more grace and with much more kindness. if you are willing to forgive, or the very least be quietly tolerant, the story grants you a happy ending. Forgiveness isn't a bad thing, it is an individual choice - but an abuse victim shouldn't have to do it for them to have a happy ending.
In a vacuum Eri and Fuyumi's character arcs and depictions of abuse are good but it becomes a problem when that's the only experience and type of victim we ever hold in high value or recognize as valid and deserving of compassion. Which the story reinforces.
Touya and Tenko's backstories aren't pretty nor comfortable or easy to sit through. Their responses to abuse aren't either. Reactive abuse is very much real.

Both of them stared at the footage, aghast.
"Long range weapon, huh?" the villain asked.
"Correct," the hero said. They leaned against their desk, the wood digging into their lower back. "Creating an opening is nearly impossible."
"You've tried, I assume."
"More than once." They pulled up their shirt and caught sight of the villain's eyes widening. They were aware that the scar was still fresh. Still a little too out of place on their abdomen. "Stabbed me all the way through. They're good. They're great."
Their jaw clenched. They were used to pain. But recovering from that wound had taken too long for their liking.
"You sound like you admire them," the villain said.
"Barely. I couldn't work for a whole month and it still stings." For some reason, the villain's face looked soft. The hero had seen their angry face, had seen them confused, hurt. Stressed, helpless, crying - they had seen the villain lose their mind with a face so undeniably in pain it had made the hero sick. A face covered in sweat. Covered in blood. Soft was different. Really different.
"Hm. All the way through?" The villain tilted their head.
"Yup."
"May I?" The villain's fingertips were on their best way to touch the hero's scar.
The hero swallowed.
"Sure." The touch was very simple, but the hero couldn't - for some reason - look the villain in the eye. Their neck was heating up.
"It's healing pretty well, though," the villain said. Their fingertips were warm, comforting. The hero was avoiding people and contact on purpose. They had made their peace with being alone. But the villain touching them like that - it left them feeling lonelier than ever.
"Y-yeah." The hero cleared their throat, covered their body again and their mind went back to work. If they didn't eliminate this...prodigy, they couldn't guarantee the safety of the city. Initially, they hadn't planned on sharing this with the villain. After all, the both of them were more or less doomed to rot in house arrest together. Since the hero's home was the only building in the entire city that had enough resources to maintain their enemy, they had somehow become something like roommates. Accidentally.
The villain had spent the first two weeks in a cell, but they were on their best behavior. So the hero hadn't seen any harm in letting them walk around freely. Monitoring them was easy. The villain stuck to routines, they weren't arguing with the hero. They cooked frequently. Fine with the hero.
"Closing the distance seems to be difficult," the villain said. They leaned over to stare at the screen again.
The hero found it...quite pleasant to have someone to talk to. They could still feel the touch of the villain's fingertips linger. A shiver ran down their spine.
They stared at the villain. Their enemy looked livelier. Happier, maybe? Could they be truly happy when they were basically imprisoned?
Two months ago, they had looked exhausted. The hero guessed that explained their aggressiveness back then. Cornered animals tend to lash out.
The villain bit their bottom lip. Their brooding face.
"What about a sharpshooter? Do you think they're too quick?" Right, back to work.
"Definitely. It's too dangerous. The person fighting them would be in grave danger if a sharpshooter was aiming at them," the hero said.
The villain tilted their head.
"Overwhelm them with numbers?"
"I suppose that would be an option. Still. They know how to defend themselves. They keep their cards close to their chest. Who knows how many tricks they got up their sleeve? I'm not too keen on sending a bunch of my people to their death."
They stared at each other and for some reason, the hero's mouth dried out. The villain did look much better. They hadn't realized it, but their usually shy personality had changed. The villain was still calm and tactical - they never revealed too much about themselves - yet, they had adopted a certain friendliness the hero wasn't familiar with.
Was it some tactic? To deceive the hero? What a terrible thought.
"Do you have to deal with them? Are they like...your new nemesis?"
"Huh?" Now it was the villain's turn to avoid the hero's eyes.
"I mean, we obviously can't fight each other anymore. I lost my powers. You captured me. I don't have anything going for me anymore. After my trial and my sentence, I guess...I think we won't see each other anymore, will we?"
The hero stared at them. Was that true?
They supposed they hadn't thought much about the future. They had been busy with other missions. They had been busy observing the villain. They had been busy with getting to know them better.
"I'm glad it's someone who challenges you, but I...I am really gonna miss you. And you should take care of yourself. Stabbing someone all the way through is a little messed up." They looked at each other and something inside the hero crumbled.
Sure, they were a hero because they wanted to protect others. But the villain...
"I'm not sure if I can go on without you," the hero said. "You have always been my priority, my motivation."
"You can't quit because of me."
"Why not? Haven't I given everything to the city? Am I not entitled to some selfishness?" They paused. Why did their chest hurt so much? "I devoted my entire life to being your opposite. No one could ever replace you, no matter how much they challenge me."
The hero felt like they should have never captured the villain in the first place. Regret was creeping up their spine.
But then, the villain simply smiled. "You know, sometimes, the things you say are horribly sweet."
"I - well, I just meant- I just wanted to clarify that this weirdo isn't my new nemesis. And I- I mean, I expect you to somehow escape from prison or whatever anyway. Your powers will come back eventually, something like that happened to me, too. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed, powers work the same way." The hero's ears were on fire, burning hard enough to hurt. "This isn't the end."
"I hope you're right." The villain's voice was sweet, but their smile was even sweeter. They leaned over and touched the hero's collarbone. The hero loathed that there was fabric between them. "Any requests for dinner?"
The hero swore they were going to die of overheating.
