Scarland is a scam, through and through. From its broken neon sign to its kitschy decor, every inch of the place reeks of being a tourist trap — but somehow the customers still come. I suspect it has something to do with Scar, the owner and (yes, really) my boss. He’s charming, if a bit strange, and some of the artifacts here even seem almost authentic. Almost. I’d investigate further but that cat of his seems to follow me around and, well…I don’t want to bother her.

Then there’s Cub. He’s…an anomaly. Comes and goes without ever saying a word. I don’t think he works here, he only shows up once a month or so, but he does seem to be close to Scar. Perhaps he has something to do with these ‘Private VIP Tours’ Scar seems to offer to people. I don’t know what he does exactly, but at least he doesn’t bother me. Although…there was one time, Scar was running late after falling into the Boatem Hole (again). Cub and I were left alone for a few moments, but he said something very odd:

“If I were you, I’d be paying close attention to the moon.”

What does he know that I don’t?

I was inspired by the aesthetics of childhood fairy nostalgia. When I was a kid, all I'd draw were fairies. It was fun and refreshing to revisit them.

As a challenge, see how many hermits you can spot! All the season 10 hermits are there. You can find where they are all located in the image description.

Thanks to @majickth , i’m now obsessed with the hermits hollow au. So of course i would spent 5 hours making a fanart. This is heavily inspired by gravity falls with grian the journalist, investigating all the mysteries and people inside the town, from the disappearance of Mumbo, a howling in the night, to the unnamed government facility at the edge of the town. And maybe, just maybe, all of these mysteries are all connected somehow…..

okay i need to share an au idea but the art sucked so im just telling it rn.

the au is about a small seaside town named (INSERT NAME, maybe like Hermit cove or smt) , which is perfectly normal thank you. The residents have formed a small yet tight-knit community. the town sees basically no tourists despite the wonderful location, and again it is perfectly normal except one thing. There's a small office in the local government building reserved for the Bureau of Strange Happenings, where residents have to report anything strange they claimed to see. It was set up in the 90s, when a lot of tourists came to the town and claimed to have spotted cryptids, and wouldnt stop bothering local law enforcement about it. And reports have been coming in consistently for the past few years. tree bark that writhes and breathes, veins spread through the soil, the lakes turning red. Still these reports are all readily dismissed by the one who writes up all the incident reports, Grian. in his hermit permit esque glory, he is just as disinterested and would rather be fishing.

there's a lot of other residents. Local fisherwoman Gem, who seemingly just appeared two years ago and runs a small shop. Pearl, who does oddjobs around town and helps out anyone she can (shes recently taken up the job as mailman). Scar, one of the more paranoid residents who sees like something "weird" every other day (grian is so done with him). Recently the town has two new residents, joel and skizz, and through sheer bad luck they uncover more than they wanted about the idyllic little town.

People of tumblr help me! Oddly specific book rec request!!!!

I’ve wanted to get back into reading (it’s been working I read dps book version since I already love the movie, started rereading the hobbit, finished this poison heart which I started like 3 years ago and was 70% through, and finally started the secret history)

But I’ve been craving a specific (Niche?) genre of literature because fiction has me in a certain mood??

Does anyone have any book recs that are have these vibes:

- life is strange or gravity falls type story (Pacific Northwest, forests and fog maybe some cryptids or supernatural stuff)

-not straight up horror- like if it has creechurs they are a little spooky and there’s “something strange about this town” that’s cool but it’s not like constant horror and death more like nature being mildly creepy and supernatural, maybe there’s a mystery to solve or it focuses on the characters similar to life is strange

- not a must in case there is an older book that fits the vibes but it would be cool if it had queer characters or just representation some diff groups of people in general

-if I think of other existing media that has the vibes, I’ll put it here (Kids at summer camp create secret club and befriend cryptdids vibes? Or maybe they get powers from an old journal?)

-I’d also be down if it was like vampires(love them) or ghosts(pretty cool)

This is the Emperor's Hamlet au !!

The gist of it is that Fwhip and Gem haven't seen eachother in ~10 years, and the only person Fwhip had left was Gem, so he moved to Emperor's Hamlet. A lot of things have changed about both of them in the time they were apart (mainly Fwhip, because he's trans in the au !!).

Fwhip learns a lot about this town—more of a village, really; a hamlet. No wonder it's named that. But it's a really weird place. There's something in the woods, a man who won't leave his home, and a fisherman who likes cod a lot, apparently.

Anyone remember that little piece I did for [majickth's] hermits hollow au??? Well. A. I'm working on ANOTHER project and B. Amidst PROCRASTINATING on that project I have somehow dedicated 16 hours of my time to the do this in your style challenge that was posted I belive quite a little while ago. They said there was no time limit and I said. Well. You wanna bet.

Anyway.... Gonna be a little cringe about this are you ready

Thought that since majick's au doubles as an arg I could throw a puzzle in there so I'm gonna throw you a couple hints because this one's a little weird.

A. It iz in morse code and I did not have a lot of space to count units so it may be a little rough but I believe in you

Also I wanted to infodump about the ConVex in this AU:

Fairies become Vexes when directly exposed to large amounts of corrupted magic which changes them both physically and mentally, making them vicious and blood thirsty

The process is reversible, but requires restraining the Vex which can be quite the challenge. And even when cured, the Vex magic will leave permanent changes to the fairy’s body, like lingering blue pigmentation, slightly sharpened teeth and altered wing shape

Neither Cub nor Scar will tell anyone how exactly they managed to expose themselves to enough corrupted magic to get turned into Vexes

But based on the faces they make when asked, it probably happened because they were doing something very, very stupid.
