- Write and Edit: Ensure your manuscript is complete, polished, and free of errors. Consider using professional editing services to fine-tune your writing.
- Proofreading: A final check for grammar, spelling, and formatting issues is essential.
2. Design the Cover and Format the Book
- Book Cover Design: A professional, eye-catching cover is crucial. You can hire a designer or use platforms like Canva for basic designs.
- Formatting: Ensure the book is properly formatted for both digital (eBook) and print versions. Each platform has specific formatting guidelines (e.g., Amazon Kindle, IngramSpark, etc.). Tools like Scrivener or Vellum can assist in formatting.
3. Choose Your Self-Publishing Platform
- Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP): One of the most popular platforms for eBooks and print-on-demand paperback.
- IngramSpark: Ideal for wide distribution in both physical bookstores and online.
- Apple Books, Google Play, Kobo: Additional platforms for publishing eBooks.
- Other options: Draft2Digital, Lulu, and Barnes & Noble Press are also viable alternatives.
4. Obtain an ISBN (Optional)
- Some platforms, like KDP, provide a free ISBN, but you can also purchase one to retain full rights to your book (from Bowker in the U.S. or Nielsen in the U.K.).
- An ISBN is necessary for tracking your book’s sales and identifying it in libraries and stores.
5. Upload Your Manuscript and Cover
- Upload your manuscript and cover file to your chosen platform. Ensure all files are formatted correctly for the platform’s requirements.
- Platforms typically accept formats like PDF for print and EPUB for eBooks.

- Most platforms offer a royalty range based on the price you set, typically between 35%-70% for eBooks.
- Consider pricing competitively within your genre.
7. Distribution and Marketing Options
- Choose where your book will be distributed (e.g., Amazon exclusive or multiple retailers).
- Consider using a platform’s marketing tools like Amazon’s advertising program, or you can manage your marketing through social media, email lists, or a personal website.
8. Launch and Promote
- Plan a launch date for your book and build buzz in advance through social media, blogs, or email marketing.
- After publication, continue to promote your book through guest posts, paid ads, giveaways, or book reviews.
9. Monitor Sales and Get Feedback
- Track your sales through the platform’s dashboard.
- Encourage reviews and feedback to boost visibility and credibility.
10. Print and Distribution (Optional)
- If you want physical copies, opt for print-on-demand services or consider a local printer if you want to sell directly.
- Platforms like KDP, IngramSpark, and Lulu handle printing and shipping for a wide audience.

Someone save my bank account. Someone remove me from access to my bank account. There’s so many records I’ve wanted that suddenly went on auction sites at once.
I’m sobbing at:
OKeh 4169 MAMIE SMITH (1920) Crazy Blues / It's Right Here For You (If You Don't Get It-'Taint No Fault O' Mine): First record of the first African American artist to record a commercial blues record!!! THIS IS MAJOR HISTORY. Upon her success, this kicked off classic female blues records and opened the opportunity for more Black artists to record. I know the bidding for this record will go out of my price range. It’s on auction from a popular seller whose bids regularly end at several hundred dollars. But oh man, if someday I could get this baby...
Victor 20862 WEST VIRGINIA COON HUNTERS (1927) Greasy String / Your Blue Eyes Run Me Crazy: This is a record from the Bristol Sessions, considered the Big Bang of the country music industry. Most of the artists didn’t find success. Their records didn’t sell well and they didn’t record again. The West Virginia Coon Hunters was one band that recorded a grand total of one (1) record. I’ve heard their songs through compilation albums, enjoyed their sound, and wanted to snag this record.
Columbia 14111-D LEM FOWLER’S WASHBOARD WONDERS (1925) Salty Dog / The Florida Blues: This is specifically for Salty Dog. When I was researching Salty Dog Blues, I found this 1925 jazz recording and fell in love. Not much is known about Lem Fowler... he was briefly in high demand, but left the music business and remained in obscurity thereafter. This is another record sold by the popular seller and I highly doubt the price will end in my range, either. Also: oh no, he’s cute.
Columbia 4-42755 FLATT & SCRUGGS (1963) Hard Travelin’ / Pearl, Pearl, Pearl: Pearl, Pearl, Pearl is a dorky but catchy song written by the creator of the Beverly Hillbillies. Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs appeared once a season as semi-fictionalized versions of themselves. In “Jed Throws a Wingding,” Flatt and Scruggs sing this song competing for the character Pearl. The single comes with a unique sleeve where Lester and Earl are smiling at Pearl. I like the tune but I especially want that friggin’ sleeve. There’s lots of copies that sell cheap but fewer with the sleeve.
Columbia 20777 FLATT & SCRUGGS (1951) Come Back Darling / I'm Waiting To Hear You Call Me Darling: I do plan on diversifying my collection, but I have concentrated on snagging key Flatt & Scruggs records. This is the first record released by their new label, Columbia, after ending business with Mercury. I have a soft spot for I’m Waiting To Hear You Call Me Darling because it’s the one (1) time Earl Scruggs sings the lead in their harmonies instead of baritone. That unusual harmony stacking always catches my attention.
Conqueror 9065 A'NT IDY HARPER AND THE COON CREEK GIRLS (1938?) The Old Apple Tree / Lulu Wall: The Coon Creek Girls were a rare manifestation in the early days of country music of a professional all-female string band. Talented group of musicians.
Victor V-40618 曉テル子 TERUKO AKATSUKI (1951) 東京シューシャイン ボーイ Tokyo Shoe Shine Boy / メロンはいかが How About A Melon?: This is for sentimental purposes. When my dad was a kid, his father came back from Japan with half a dozen records. Whenever my dad gets reflective about childhoods, he mentions Tokyo Shoe Shine Boy, which after all these years stuck in his memory. He’ll bring the song up on YouTube, sing with it, etc. His father’s old records are no longer in our family’s possession... they were probably broken a long time ago. I thought it’d be meaningful to reacquire a song that made an impression on my father in childhood.
ALSO: WHY IS EVERYONE HOT?????!?!?

Happy 64th Birthday Brian Alexander "B. A." Robertson, born September 12th 1956. Robertson was born and raised in Glasgow attending the former Allan Glen's School, Glasgow,[and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama. He recorded his first album "Wringing Applause", for Ardent Records in 1973. It enjoyed modest critical acclaim, and a nomination in Down Beat Magazine's year end poll. He made four further albums, but had little commercial success.
During these years, he combined his career as an artist in a writing and production partnership with bassist Herbie Flowers. BA wrote and produced with Herbie, and worked with an eclectic crowd, including Lionel Bart, Joe Brown, Jim Cregan, Ray Cooper, Micky Dolenz, Gillian Gregory, Georg Kajanus, Harry Nilsson, Phil Pickett, Annie Ross, Sandie Shaw, and Chris Spedding.
He made his first television appearance with Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel (1976), played piano on the B side of "Come Up And See Me Make Me Smile". Before finding fame in his own right B A teamed up with guitarist Terry Britten and wrote over 20 worldwide hits, the pick of them for Cliff Richard, the songs Carrie and Wired for Sound, the latter was nominated Ivor Novello Song of the Year in 1981.
It was around the same time his singing career took off. He enjoyed chart success in Europe, with six hit singles as an artist. The first, "Bang Bang", achieved sales over 1 million, the last Flight 19, in 1982, a #1 in Iceland! This track inspired a ground breaking music video directed by Brian Grant. BA was nominated Ivor Novello Songwriter of the Year 1980, UK Male Vocalist, Daily Mirror Rock & Pop Awards 1980, JVC Scottish Musician of the Year 1982. He recorded with Maggie Bell in 1982, Frida from Abba, 83, and Lulu in 84.
As well as appearing in concert, he also featured on radio and television. Was a frequent guest broadcaster for the BBC, from 1980 to 1985. Hosted his own music series "BA In Music". In 1986 he was commissioned to compose the music for The Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. He has written more than 30 themes, songs, and scores, for film, television and special events. These include "The Other Side of The World" by Chaka Khan for the motion picture "White Nights", music for one of the UK's longest running talk shows "Wogan", and "We Have A Dream" for Scotland's World Cup Football Squad of 1982.
Throughout the 80's and 90's he continued to write and work in the studio with another diverse group, including Sam Brown, Roger Daltrey, Lonnie Donegan, Dave Edmunds, Bernard Edwards, Peter Frampton, Alan Gorrie, John Jarvis, Maz + Kilgore, Joe Sample, Helena Springs, and Andy Taylor (Duran Duran).
He met Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford in 1985, and began a second long term writing collaboration. He introduced Paul Carrack to the embryo Mike & The Mechanics. As writer and musician, he featured on six of their studio albums. Wrote their first hit single "Silent Running", Billboard's number 1 Rock Song of 1986, and the international success, "The Living Years". This most celebrated of his lyrics written when his father died twelve weeks before the birth of his son.
At the 1990 Grammy Awards, "The Living Years" had four nominations, including Song of the Year. BA was pipped for the statuettes by good friend Arif Mardin and "The Wind Beneath My Wings". In London, at The Ivor Novellos, 'The Living Years' topped 1991 Grammy winner "Another Day in Paradise" for Best Song. He was invited to set up offices at The Walt Disney Studio, by Michael Eisner, and Jeffrey Katzenburg. BA moved with his family to Los Angeles.
He remained a feature on the lot for over three years. Was Creator, and Producer of Grammy nominated, multi-platinum, music video, "Simply Mad About The Mouse". Artists include Harry Connick Jnr., LL Cool J., Billy Joel, and Bobby McFerrin.
1991 saw "Silent Running" and "The Living Years", awarded "MillionAir" status by BMI, for more than one million broadcast performances in the US. "Silent Running" has now reached almost three million plays, and 'The Living Years' over four.
From 1993 through 1995, he put together, "With Your Hand on My Heart" for Patti LaBelle and Michael Crawford. Michael's album had a double Grammy nomination and world wide sales of more than 2 million. Wrote music for "Baywatch", the world's most popular television show and collaborated on a musical with Burt Bacharach, for me it shows his class.
He continued to work with Mike & The Mechanics, had six songs in the "Beggar On A Beach of Gold" project including the title song, and another six on their, multi-platinum CD, "Hits". He worked as writer, and musical associate to Phil Ramone on the stage production "EFX”, at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. The opening song "Somewhere in Time”, a collaboration with John Barry.
For the past 20 years or so Robertson has lived in Ireland, continually working on various projects he is still in high demand, Over the years, B A has accumulated more than 70 silver, gold, and platinum record awards. He lives with his wife, designer Karen Manners, they have two adult children.
I've chosen this song because it is my favourite Scottish World goal offering, remember, if you are old enough, four years previously, Andy Cameron proclaimed, We're Going to WIN the world Cup, by the time 1982 came B A Robertson knew that it was a dream. Oh I must add, the last World Cup Scotland was in 1998, and the much more realistic song was by Del Amitri, and calle Don't come home too soon, which as always we did, failing to get beyond the first stages yet again
No matter what .John Gordon Sinclair is superb here.............

Kylux & Kylux Adjacent Calendar/schedule planner project Memorial Book for 2020
Hi everyone! It’s @starkickback
2019 is here and I’m starting a (hopefully) easy Kylux and Kylux Adjacent Calendar/schedule planner project Memorial Book for 2020.
Please submit by:
December 31.
Where do I submit?
Here: https://goo.gl/forms/mTIrcX3GR37JaNi93
You don’t need to create anything special if you don’t want to!
Please spread the word!
Details under the cut.
My idea.
My idea is that you can submit ONE work that you are the proudest to be featured. That’s all. Think of it as a Yearbook/ Memorial Book.
I just want to create something as a memory of our lovely time together.
So, I am going to simply ask for one creation (of any type) per artist/writer etc.
Submission types.
The visual art (illustrations, doll pictures, mood boards, etc) will simply be displayed in the calendar planner and nonvisual art (writing, audio mixes, twitter threads etc) will simply be linked to with a QR code so all you need to do is have that creation hosted/posted somewhere.
The only limit is work must be complete and not a WIP. But the “cool” part is that there is plenty of time and if this goes well we can do it again!
There is no sign-up. Just submit. But please one per creator unless I find that it’s not going to be a full calendar. ( LOL I might think I might have high expectations for turn out. )
Think carefully. If you change your mind about the piece that you want to submit you can, but only once. So think if you want to submit a personal favorite, a popular piece with the community, or something that was your first piece made for the fandom etc. BUT you have to pick one.
No Spicy Images?
Unfortunately, I cannot PRINT IMAGES that are NC-17 or porny in nature. Please cover or crop out genitals, please. Or provide a link to the art so I can put it in a QR code. It’s only because, in order to do print on demand, it needs to fit the guidelines for their website. I’m doing this for fun and I don’t want to make this a bigger project than it already might be. Fics are fine as they are hosted and being linked to. There will be a disclaimer written in the book about if you have purchased this book and you’re under 18 blah blah. I’m not trying to get in trouble in my own country here geez.
Kylux Adjacents.
The reason I’m not making a separate Kylux Adjacent one is that Kylux Adjacents and rare pairs ARE Kylux. I think Kylux is a very interesting fandom to have them and they need to be speckled about to show the diversity of our fandom.
Design.
A4 size. So you can use it or simply keep it.
I hope to make it in coil bound ( so you can take it apart easily so you can use pages like a poster or as an actual planner), Softcover and hardcover.
I will attempt to design this in a module from here’s a sketch:
Money.
So I’m thinking about using LULU for this as it is a print on demand company. So I have the option of adding pages to the planner and having a set price based on the number of pages and the size of the book.
This also allows me to have set the price so I am not making any money on the book. Just simply allowing people to buy it whenever they want as a keepsake.
When is my submission due?
December 31.
Where do I submit?

skater boy au part ii
back by popular demand!!!!
(some folks did ask for this and i was so happy to write it - i just hope y’all like it!!!)
part i
part ii
He gets endless shit from Yann about it. All through their lunch, over the course of their walk to Lucas’s street, and then over text five hours later.
His phone buzzes as he stands in front of his mirror, pulling at the material of his t-shirt and pretending like the mess of clothes piled onto his bed doesn’t exist.
y4z4s: lol how many times have u changed
y4z4s: lulu don’t worry ur beautiful no matter what <3333
lucallemant: die in a ditch <3333
y4z4s: LOL ur so grumpy u r nervous!!!!!!
lucallemant: and u r annoying
lucallemant: shouldn’t you worry about your own love life
lucallemant: oh that’s right it’s because you don’t have one
y4z4s: uh huh
y4z4s: u can send me pics if u want and i’ll vote on them
y4z4s: no forget it i already kno wear the black jeans they make ur ass look nice
y4z4s: luluuuuuu
y4z4s: lucas
y4z4s: did u hear me the black jeans
y4z4s: show demaury the goods
lucallemant: you’re gross go away
Lucas throws his phone down onto his bed, ignoring another rapid succession of buzzes.
He doesn’t care about dressing up for Eliott. He doesn’t. Eliott knows what Lucas looks like. He’s not going to act any differently if Lucas wears one thing or another. Eliott will probably show up wearing a stupid beanie anyway, and somehow looking completely perfect, because he’s just like that.
Whatever. He’s trying to keep perspective. Eliott is Eliott. And that means that Lucas must be one in a line of hundreds of people Eliott can date.
Perspective. As in trying not to act like the very thought of it, the memory of the way Eliott’s mouth formed the words, I really like you, doesn’t make him want to throw himself into a swimming pool.
But perspective also tells him that, yeah, there might be hundreds of other people, but they’re not the ones going on a date tonight, are they?
So maybe Lucas does put on the black jeans. And maybe he does check himself out before he leaves his bedroom. Maybe he does smile to himself when he sees Eliott’s, downstairs! text, slipping out of the front door before Mika can ask him where he’s going.
He takes a breath before he opens the front door to his building, schooling his face to something neutral.
He’s glad he does it, because he’s not ready for what awaits him when he opens the door.
Eliott, leaning against a lamp post, wearing a button-up shirt with half of its buttons undone, hair wild and eyes low, lit up in orange and gold from the sun just beginning to set.
He looks…cool. Unapproachable. Like the Eliott that Lucas sees at school. Like the sort of person who can waltz through life on the tops of clouds. Like the sort of person Lucas could only ever sneak glances at across rooms.
But he looks up, sees Lucas, and his face splits into a big, toothy smile, and the effect is gone. Lucas doesn’t know what’s worse. The beautiful, unapproachable Eliott, or the Eliott who smiles like a dork.
“What,” Lucas calls out to him, across the stretch of empty sidewalk between them, “the hell are you wearing?”
Eliott glances down at himself, tugs on the fabric of his shirt. “You don’t like it?”
He doesn’t move from the lamp post so Lucas goes to him, short steps crossing that empty stretch of sidewalk until he’s close enough to get a good look at Eliott, to see how his cheeks are a bit pink, how his eyes are grey-green in the light.
Lucas is close enough to touch him, so he does, poking him once in the chest, where the shirt is gaping open. “Showing a lot of cleavage, don’t you think?”
“What can I say, I know what the boys like.” Eliott laughs, and before Lucas can pull his hand away he’s grabbing onto his finger, then folding Lucas’s hand into his own and tugging him forward, closer, closer, until Lucas is pressed right up against him, wrapped in his arms.
It happens so quickly, Lucas not touching Eliott, then touching him only a little bit, then being so surrounded by Eliott that it’s overwhelming. Lucas can feel the hard planes of his chest, can feel how warm his skin is, can smell him, and he smells a bit like cologne, something fresh and masculine, and a bit like cigarettes, and a bit like sweat and Lucas kinda wants to lick his neck and oh what the fuck where did that thought come from—
Lucas is not prepared for this.
He can feel himself locking up, arms straight down at his sides, neck stiff, eyes open wide. It’s just so much, is the thing. So much when Lucas has spent the better part of a year convincing himself that he doesn’t like Eliott, that Eliott is nothing more than a well-worn fantasy to pick up during boring classes and long bus rides.
But Eliott is here, now, holding him, nuzzling into Lucas’s hair and sighing as though they’ve done this before, as though they’ve been doing this, touching like this, when all of their interactions before were handshakes bound in barbed wire.
“You smell nice,” Eliott tells him, voice close to Lucas’s ear, breath warm on his neck.
Lucas shivers. He’s thrown off by the hug, by the contact and affection, and he’s getting a little lost in it, thinking about falling into Eliott without abandon, here we go—
He just starts to lift his hands, fingers reaching for Eliott’s back, when Eliott steps away, hands sliding away from Lucas and Lucas’s own arms are back at his sides and they’re staring at each other in the golden light, Lucas’s entire body a live wire of tension.
“So, are you hungry?” Eliott asks, bouncing on the spot. “There’s this cool place I’ve been to with the guys before; they do like, street food? It’s basically a fancy food truck but it’s so good, I swear.”
“Uh, yeah.” Lucas glances up and down the street, eyes dancing everywhere except right at Eliott’s face. “I could eat.”
“Cool.” Eliott steps away and bends towards the lamp post, and picking up his skateboard, tucking it under his arm.
“Oh no,” Lucas says, voice coming back to him, because really, “you did not bring that.”
“What? Celeste?” Eliott holds his board out and of fucking course he has a name for his board because he’s not cool, he’s a fucking loser. “She comes everywhere with me.”
“Oh, Celeste.” Lucas lets his eyes go wide. “I mean, if you’d rather be alone with her, I can go back inside.”
“At least she doesn’t make fun of me. She supports me. Literally and figuratively.”
“Does she sleep in your bed at night, too?”
“No.” Eliott’s eyes cut sharply to Lucas, mouth quirked in a teasing half-smile. “But you can, if you want.”
Lucas nearly chokes on his own tongue, only just managing to mask it with a cough into his fist.
Eliott looks far too pleased with himself.
“In your fucking dreams, Demaury,” Lucas says, and he doesn’t think he sounds that convincing so he turns away from Eliott, starts walking left, towards downtown. “Don’t we have somewhere to be?”
“Yeah,” Eliott yells after him, and Lucas can hear his board rolling across the pavement. “Except you’re going the wrong way.”
It is with great dignity that Lucas turns around and strides past where Eliott is waiting and flips him off with both hands.
Eliott takes him towards the area of town where the skatepark is, but they drift into a neighbourhood Lucas isn’t familiar with, one that has hip-looking bars mixed in with old apartment buildings and small parks.
It’s busy on the street, as everywhere in Paris is on a summer night, patios heaving and laughter carrying across a gentle breeze.
Everywhere Lucas looks, there are couples: walking hand-in-hand, sitting next to each other at tiny round tables, kissing on street corners.
He and Eliott pass one couple doing just that, Eliott holding his board under his arm again, telling Lucas how he and Idriss and Sofiane come here all the time, and Lucas makes a face at them, partially because he’s disgusted, and partially because he is, the tiniest bit, envious. There’s about a foot of space between him and Eliott. There has been ever since they started walking, and while the conversation is flowing a lot better since Lucas was able to get a hold of his few remaining brain cells, they probably look like they’re just friends.
It’s Lucas’s fault maybe, because he’s in his default snarking-Eliott mode, but it does make him wonder.
“Lucas?”
Eliott has a hand resting at the small of Lucas’s back, and he’s gently guiding him across the street, to where Lucas can see a truck parked at the side of an empty parking lot, with a bright neon sign on the front of it. There’s a line of people waiting for food and at least half a dozen picnic tables set up in the parking lot, surrounded by strings of fairy lights. Lucas can hear music coming faintly from the inside of the truck. Something he can’t place.
He has to admit, this is not bad.
Eliott’s hand has dropped from his back but he’s grinning when he looks down at Lucas. “Now I know you have high standards, Lallemant—”
Lucas snorts.
“—but the food here is amazing. Trust me. It’s Moroccan food that even Idriss approves of, and he says everything is shit except what his mom makes.”
“If I had high standards,” Lucas says cheerily, patting Eliott on the chest, “then I wouldn’t be on a date with you.”
Eliott cackles at that, tipping his head back, and Lucas tucks his pleased smile away into his own shoulder.
“You’re so mean,” Eliott says, but he’s smiling, smiling at Lucas like Lucas is the best thing he’s ever seen. It wreaks havoc on Lucas’s heart.
So Lucas coughs, breaks his gaze away from Eliott’s, and goes to the truck to find a menu.
Eliott follows him, stopping behind Lucas in line and bending down to murmur in his ear, “Do you want to share a few things?”
Lucas is vibrating at a low frequency at this point, but he says yes, actually, he would because there are about three things on the menu he wants to try, so that’s what they do.
They find two spots at the end of a picnic bench, where the only other occupants are two girls sharing a big plate of food, laughing when one of them manages to get a glob of hummus on her chin, the other one wiping it off with a napkin.
Eliott asks if they’re saving the table, and the girls say, no, that’s fine, all yours, and Eliott and Lucas sit across from each other at the opposite end.
“So, do you like it?” Eliott asks, face eager.
Lucas nods. “Yeah,” he says, glancing around the parking lot, then to the truck, where he can see a young woman and a man cooking, laughing, and the other young woman who took their orders hollering something back to them. “It’s cool.”
Eliott grins. “Cool.”
“Seems like the type of place you would come to,” Lucas continues, because he can’t just leave things. “Being such a hipster and all.”
Eliott genuinely looks offended. “I am not a hipster.”
“Oh no? Mr. Skateboard Artist? Your music taste would beg to differ.”
“When,” Eliott’s eyes are narrowed, “have you ever heard my music taste?”
Lucas pauses, takes a slow slip of the beer he ordered. “I’ve seen some of your instagram stories.” He shrugs, takes another sip of beer. “That’s not a surprise, you can see who watches them.”
“I never really look at that.”
Lucas sighs. “Of course you don’t.”
Eliott leans onto his forearms, his body stretching across the table. “Do you ever listen to the songs? After you see them on my story?”
Yes. “No.”
Eliott’s eyes are lethal. “So if I said that there’s one song that I posted because it reminds me of you, you would have no idea which one?”
Lucas swallows. Tries to control his exhale. “Let me guess. It’s that song called ‘Mean’, the one Daphy always listens to.”
Eliott shakes his head. He leans back on the bench, pulling a cigarette out from behind his ear and lighting it, smoke curling around his face. “No,” is all he says. “It’s not that.”
Their food arrives, four steaming plates dropped at their table that have Lucas’s mouth watering.
They both dig in, hands getting messy, satisfied groans coming from deep in their throats.
“Alright,” Lucas concedes after he bites into a spicy dish that sends him straight to the heavens. “This food is incredible. Not a bad spot, Demaury.”
“So glad it meets your approval, Lucas.”
The way he says his name, the way his voice sounds as it holds the word Lucas, makes Lucas shift awkwardly on the bench. Maybe it’s the food, or the beer, or the atmosphere of the night around them, but Lucas feels good. So good his few brain cells have decided to take off. That’s the only explanation for him saying, “I’m happy you asked me.”
Eliott’s in the middle of drinking from his own beer bottle, and a bit dribbles out onto his chin. “What?” Eliott asks, laughing, wiping his chin. “Do you mean to say that you, Lucas Lallemant, are happy to be out with me on a date?”
“Nope. Didn’t say that.” Lucas can feel himself smiling, the same way he did back in the skatepark, unable to control it. “You’re hearing things.”
“Sure, sure.” They’re smiling at each other over the table, over the nearly-empty plates and the pile of napkins. “I’m happy you said yes.” Eliott says, and it’s Lucas’s turn to almost choke on his beer. “I wanted to ask you out for so long, you know. But you…you make me nervous.”
He says it so easily, like it costs nothing to be honest, like he’s not aware that the two girls have quieted their conversation and are clearly eavesdropping.
“I make you nervous?” Lucas sputters. “Are you not Eliott Demaury, resident golden boy of the school? What have you done with him?”
“I don’t think of myself as…” Eliott trails off and waves a hand at Lucas. “I’m no golden boy, or anything. I’m not. And you make me nervous because I really like you. Because I think you’re really cool.”
Listen.
Lucas has a science concentration. He genuinely, without irony, loves space, and plays video games all the time, and spends far too many nights on Wikipedia conspiracy theory pages, and honestly, is pretty shit at football. Lucas has never been called cool in his entire life.
“You’re so weird,” he murmurs, eyes wide and disbelieving on Eliott. “You really are.” He lowers his beer back down to the table, eyes following the motion, still down when he says, so quietly he hopes Eliott will miss it, “I like you so much.”
Of course Eliott hears it. And of course the girls at the other end of the table hear it too, both letting out awwww’s that make Lucas’s cheeks flush.
“Reminds me of us,” one girl says to the other, who shushes her with a giggle. They both stand from the table, gather their plates, and leave, their held hands swinging between them, one of them glancing back at Lucas to wink before they disappear from the parking lot.
Lucas hesitantly glances back up at Eliott, who’s leaning on his forearms again, his smile small, and his eyes burning. They’re still the colour of ice but they’re so warm, in the way they travel across Lucas’s face, down his neck, and back up again. They’re not cooling on Lucas’s skin anymore, they’re setting him alight from the inside out.
“Hey,” Eliott says, voice low, smooth. “Let’s get out of here.”
Lucas licks his lips. “Where do you want to go?”
“Anywhere.”
Yeah, that’s… “Okay.”
They collect their plates and bottles and drop them in the bins back at the truck. They turn right when they leave, with no particular destination in mind, both of them wanting to be moving, looking to expel the wild, anticipatory energy manifesting between them. Eliott’s arm brushes against Lucas’s and it feels like lightning dancing across his skin.
Eliott turns them again, onto a much quieter street, with a park on one side and a row of tall, narrow houses on the other. Lucas can hear music coming from a few open windows, faint laughter spilling out into the night, but he can’t see anyone, other than a man walking his dog further down the road.
They cut into an empty basketball court that opens up onto a small, flat field. The sun is far down on the horizon now, the sky painted with pastel swaths of pink, purple, yellow and blue. Eliott’s on his board, skating lazy circles around where Lucas walks, laughing when Lucas rolls his eyes after he does a kick flip.
“You look stupid,” Lucas says, and Eliott rolls to a stop in front of him, cutting off his path.
“You think so?” Eliott asks. Teasing, always teasing.
“Yeah, I do.”
Eliott steps off his board. Kicks it up. “You know, you shit talk skateboarding so much for someone who’s never tried it.”
Lucas makes a face. “How do you know I’ve never tried it?”
“Please.” Eliott says it like its obvious, and maybe it is, but Lucas has his reasons. Yann has bene trying to get him into skateboarding for years, but Lucas could never be bothered to try it. And yeah, maybe, maybe he doesn’t want to fall. He hates the idea of it.
“Well, whatever.” Lucas says testily, crossing his arms over his chest. “I don’t need to try it to know it looks stupid.”
“Mhm.” Eliott narrows his eyes at Lucas. “You’re scared.”
“I am not.”
“Yes you are.”
“I am not fucking scared.”
“Alright.” Eliott shrugs, smiling. “If you say so.” His voice is a sing-song on the last sentence, the tone so clearly conveying i don’t believe you that it makes Lucas bristle. It’s the type of tone that always gets his back up. Makes him do stupid things.
“Give me that thing,” he grumbles, snatching the board from Eliott and dropping it to the ground. He hesitates for the briefest moment before he steps onto it.
Immediately the board shifts, Lucas’s feet going one way, and his body threatening to go another and oh god, Lucas is going to fall he’s going to break something he’s going to die why does he always do this dumb shit—
“Whoa!” Eliott reaches out and grabs onto Lucas’s flailing hands, holding them tightly in his own. He manages to steady Lucas enough that he doesn’t fall, just rolls a bit to the right. “Christ, I didn’t think you’d actually go for it.”
Lucas can feel his cheeks heating. Eliott’s hands are soft and strong against his own, long fingers curled between Lucas’s. “Yeah, well. I…can’t really say no to a challenge.”
“I know,” Eliott says, his features softening into something that could possibly be called fond. “Why do you think I kept giving you so much shit right back? I thought it was the only way to get you to talk to me.”
Lucas’s hands squeeze Eliott’s, on reflex, and Eliott squeezes back. “I don’t know if that was a good plan, because I thought you hated me.”
“I dunno. I kinda disagree, because look where we are now.”
Belatedly, Lucas realizes that they’re moving, Eliott taking small, slow steps and gently pulling Lucas along by the hands, the board rolling along under Lucas’s feet.
“Just try to move your body with the board,” Eliott instructs. “Keep your core tight.”
Right.
The feeling of the ground moving underneath him is, admittedly, nerve-wracking, but Eliott is holding his hands so tightly, tugging him along so slowly. It allows Lucas to pay attention to other things, like how good the faint wind feels on his face, like how good Eliott’s palms feels against his own.
He tries to remember what they were talking about, distracted by the play of the dusk light over Eliott’s features, hallowing the shadows under his cheekbones, under his eyes, making him look otherworldly. Lucas searches his brain for a word he heard Manon use a while ago.
Ethereal.
“And where are we now?” He asks eventually, stumbling only a bit when Eliott turns him in a wide circle, going to the other end of the court.
“We’re on a date.” Eliott says, once again like it’s obvious. “We told each other that we like each other. We’re probably going to kiss tonight.”
Lucas’s mouth drops open. His throat feels dry. “You think we’re going to kiss?”
“Of course.” Eliott looks up from where he’s been watching Lucas’s feet on the board, meeting his eyes. “Don’t you?”
Lucas swallows once. “I doubt it.”
“Really.” Eliott has slowed Lucas down until he’s barely moving, the board moving from its own momentum. He’s still holding Lucas’s hands. “You don’t want to kiss me?”
“Not particularly.” Lucas wrinkles his nose. “You’re kinda gross. But you’re asking all these questions like you want to kiss me.”
“Hm, no, actually. I don’t want to kiss you anymore.”
“Oh no?” A shocked laugh bubbles out of Lucas’s throat, flies free before he can catch it.
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Now who’s asking questions?”
They’ve stopped moving, completely. Lucas is standing on the board, and he’s closer to Eliott’s height this way, only has to tilt his chin up a bit to meet his gaze.
“If you don’t want to kiss me, that’s fine. I can find someone else who will.”
Eliott laughs now, squeezing Lucas’s hands again where they hang between them. “How the fuck did you manage to turn that around on me?”
Lucas sighs. “You’re not that smart. It’s not difficult.”
Eliott’s face screws up into something complicated, like he wants to smile but he’s trying not to, and oh god, is Lucas ever familiar with that expression.
“You’re so mean to me,” Eliott complains. He releases his hands from Lucas’s, and Lucas mourns the loss of his touch for only a second before those hands are at his waist, Eliott stepping so close to him that Lucas could count his eyelashes. “But I know your secret,” Eliott whispers into the empty air between them.
“Yeah?” Lucas’s voice comes out all breath. He swallows and tries again. “What’s that?”
“You like me,” Eliott says, wrapping his arms fully around Lucas’s waist. “You like me and you want to kiss me.”
“That’s not a secret. I told you that I like you.” Lucas argues, his own arms coming up to wrap around Eliott’s neck, his hands almost shaking when they pass over the hard muscle of Eliott’s shoulders. “You know I do.”
“I do.” Eliott agrees, and he’s leaning closer, any distance left getting small, smaller, smaller. “I just wanted to hear you say it again.”
“Eliott,” Lucas says firmly, because he has never been a patient person and even he has his limits for how much teasing he can take. “I really like you. And if you don’t kiss me right now then I’m never going on a date with you again.”
Eliott says nothing to that. Just leans the last few inches forward and presses their lips together.
Eliott’s lips are soft and warm, but the kiss is artless, a quick press of lips that Eliott immediately pulls away from. Lucas whines at the loss, wanting more, needing more than that.
“This is okay, right? You want this?”
“Yes, Eliott, for fucks’s sake, yes.” Lucas tugs him in by his neck. “Fucking hell,” he mutters, the last word getting caught by Eliott’s lips, their lips crushing together now, Eliott’s arms tight around Lucas’s waist.
Lucas moans into it, arching his neck up to get closer, needing Eliott to be closer.
He opens his mouth the slightest bit on the next press, and Eliott takes the invitation, coaxing Lucas’s mouth open even wider and kissing him, deep and wet.
The thing is, Lucas has actually thought about kissing Eliott before. He’s wondered what it would be like, if Eliott would have too much spit or if it would be too dry or if Eliott was the type of boy who would immediately get handsy.
In none of his fantasies did he ever think it would be this good, these slow, sensual presses of their mouths, the warm slickness of Eliott’s tongue against his own, the feeling of Eliott’s soft hair between Lucas’s fingers, the smell of Eliott surrounding him, the comforting weight of Eliott’s arms around him.
“Lucas,” Eliott gasps between one kiss and the next and he sounds ruined, and Lucas thinks he might be right there with him, because kissing Eliott is unlike anything he’s ever experienced before, and Eliott is unlike anyone he’s ever known.
Lucas thinks back to the hug earlier that night, thinks about letting himself fall into Eliott but maybe they’re falling together, comets headed skywards, shooting stars set on a collision course.
So he gasps, “Eliott,” right back and lets himself feel every bit of it.
Eliott does something with his tongue that makes Lucas’s whole body feel like a lightning rod and he moans again, tugging on Eliott’s hair.
And apparently that does something to Eliott, because he’s trying to come even closer, and he’s tilting Lucas a bit and Lucas feels his feet move but they’re not moving, and fuck, he forgot he was still on the board—
Eliott tightens his arms even more and Lucas is moving, his feet leaving the skateboard as it rolls away, Eliott swinging him around in a steady circle. Lucas pulls his head back, separating their mouths to gasp again, his feet swaying in the air.
“Eliott,” he yells, laughing, and Eliott is laughing too, setting Lucas gently onto the ground, bending to follow him down, keeping their lips level. “You really think you’re smooth, huh,” Lucas says but it’s lost again into Eliott’s mouth, a barb that has no sting, that dissolves to stardust between one press of lips and another.
Eliott’s mouth is scorching hot against Lucas’s own, so sweet Lucas might actually faint, and he’s just thinking about pushing Eliott onto the grass outside of the court and climbing on top of him, getting a better angle, when Eliott abruptly pulls back.
Lucas can’t believe the sound that comes out of his own mouth. He knows he’s blushing, and he tries to reel Eliott back in to forget about it, but Eliott’s face looks determined.
“I want to ask you something.”
Lucas literally cannot get a single thought formed at that moment other than lips and tongue and Eliott. “Uh,” he says, lips still pursed slightly.
Eliott clears his throat. “Lucas, will you be my boyfriend?”
It takes a second, it really does, because Eliott’s lips look cherry red in the fading light and Lucas wants to be kissed again more than he wants anything else in the world, but the words land somewhere in Lucas’s brain, somewhere his brain cells have decided to return to so they can point at it and say, oh shit!
Boyfriend?
Lucas blinks.
Boyfriend.
“Eliott, what the fuck.”

Zack has 3 sisters who taught him makeup, and I need a fic of him teaching Cloud how to paint his nails.
Yooo here I am like one year later with a college/blitzball AU because of who I am as a person. Anyway thank you for the request, I had fun writing it~
When Cloud had agreed to the last-minute study session, he hadn’t expected to end up holding hands with Zack Fair.
Well, not exactly “holding.” It was more just “touching” as Zack cradled his fingers. Cloud drew in a shuddery breath as Zack brought the cold, wet brush across his nails.
“Hold still,” Zack murmured. “Or I'm gonna mess it up.“
"S-sorry."
The sound of his own voice made him cringe. Hoarse, breathy. Totally and completely uncool.
"Your cuticles are a mess, dude. Shoulda bought some cream."
"There’s a cream for that?” Cloud asked. Not that he really cared about the answer. He was too busy watching. After all, he wasn’t gonna lose out on such a great opportunity to admire Zack’s face, especially not when they were seated this close. The long, dark lashes were on full display as Zack’s gaze turned downward; the lips, quirked upward to form a dimple in the pit of one cheek; and then his hands, strong and veiny but moving with a calm, gentle precision that Cloud had never seen Zack use before.
“’Course there’s a cream for that,” he replied. “They’ve got a cream for everything."
"O-oh."
Cloud swallowed, tried to ignore the rough skin of Zack’s palm pressed against his own. Or how good it felt to have Zack’s attention entirely to himself.
That wasn’t an easy feat. Zack was infamously distractible—which is probably why their study session had been doomed from the start. Just a little over fifteen minutes in, and Zack had already launched into his squat routine. When he’d gotten tired of that, he plopped his butt down right on top of Cloud’s desk.
"Hey, Cloud?"
Cloud’s eyes had remained fixed on his laptop. "Yeah?"
"What’s one thing you always wanted to do, but just never had the guts to?"
"I don’t know. Where’s this coming from?"
"Just … bored.” Zack scratched the back of his neck. “So? What about it?"
"I don’t know. What about you?"
"Eh, you know me. Not a whole lot that stops me from going after what I want."
Yes, Cloud agreed internally. That passion, that drive. A very attractive quality.
"But looking back,” Zack went on, “sometimes I wish I woulda challenged Sephiroth to a one-on-one match when I had the chance, y'know?"
"You’ll have other chances.” Cloud tried not to sound too jealous. "Your mentor is his teammate, remember?"
It was difficult sometimes, being best friends with the whiz kid Zack Fair–especially when you were a fluke like Cloud Strife. Sure, they’d both made the blitzball team and received full-ride scholarships, but Zack was in a league of his own. Watching him play was like fireworks: bright, brilliant and full of noise. No wonder he’d captured the attention of even professional players and coaches, who were already queuing up for the day he graduated. Cloud, on the other hand? He just made a good publicity story for the team. After all, how many kids in Nibelheim not only played blitzball but actually managed to be decent at it?
Zack folded his arms. "Yeah, but I don't wanna wait. Anyway, it’s your turn. What’ve you always wanted to do?"
Cloud’s fingers stilled on the keyboard. Words, unbidden, rose to his mind.
Kiss Tifa.
Kiss you.
"Paint my nails,” he blurted, instantly regretting it.
That was how they ended up at a beauty salon a few blocks from campus. They definitely drew stares. For Zack, they were the good kind of stares, of course. He caught people’s eye no matter where he went, so the extra attention wasn’t exactly a surprise. What was unexpected was how much Zack seemed to know about nail supplies.
“Why do we need two clear coats?” Cloud asked, frowning.
“‘Cuz one goes on top and one goes on bottom."
”… Why?“
"To make it last longer,” Zack said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “Now. Let’s pick out a color. Whaddya want?"
Cloud stared at the rows upon rows of bottles, like so many rainbows spanning the shop wall. He read the display placards: gel, powder, shimmer, pearl …
"Er. I don’t even know where to start.”
Laughing, Zack moved behind Cloud and clasped his shoulders. He guided him toward a section of the wall. “Start here! Now come on, Spike. What speaks to you? And don’t worry about price, today’s on me."
"This is stupid,” Cloud muttered, but he approached the shelf. No pastels, he decided. He wasn’t feeling that comfortable. And the neutral browns and shell pinks seemed pointless. Instead he went for a deep, almost-black navy blue.
“You sure that’s what you want?” Zack asked as they approached the register. “Why not sky blue? It’d bring out your eyes."
Cloud shook his head. "No. This is what I want."
And it had been. Cloud just hadn’t expected that Zack would be the one doing the nail painting for him.
"I can do it myself, you know,” he grumbled.
Zack snorted. "Yeah right. Not after the mess you made of your thumb. You’re not supposed to get so much paint on the brush. Less is more. Once it dries you can go back and do another coat."
"How do you know so much about this stuff?” Cloud asked.
Zack dipped the brush back into the bottle. “Lulu taught me,” he explained. “Her and Lebreau used to have me do their nails. Rinoa too. They thought it was cute."
Cloud’s stomach clenched. Of course.
"Guess you’re popular with girls for a reason,” he muttered. This drew a chuckle from Zack. Cloud stiffened, his brow furrowing.
“What?” he demanded, defensive.
“Nothing. It’s just, they’d probably get a kick out of hearing anyone call me popular.” Grinning, he turned his attention back to Cloud’s nails. “I mean, they weren’t my girlfriends, if that’s what you’re thinking."
Cloud’s face burned. He thought about denying it.
"Who are they, then?” he asked instead.
Zack finished coating a nail, then looked up. No one’s eyes should be that beautiful, Cloud thought. No one’s jaw so chiseled. No one’s lips sculpted with such a sinful cupid’s bow.
Zack flicked him on the forehead. “They’re my sisters, you dork."

Blurred lines
Summary: When you’re friends with someone for a long time, sometimes the lines between friendship and romance start to blur.
Warnings: indicating smut, swearing, slight fluff, angst
Word count: ~ 2.2k
Here we go again.
His arm’s slung over my shoulder, pulling me into his side. His face turned to me, lips pressed against my temple. They leave a mark, a burning I’ve always sensed but felt obligated to ignore. Then he smiles and not that tight lipped smile he’s rehearsed so well for the world, but a wide, full smile with his pearly whites on display.
I sneak an arm around his waist, gently gliding my palm over the small of his back to return his side hug before retreating to a safety without his touch. His touch is far too dangerous as it brings forth a fire, a feeling I could never shake nor deny. It puts me in a position where I have to remind myself why he and I are just friends, best friends to be exact, to remind myself why that will never change.
“Why you runnin’ from me?” Ethan asks softly, almost whining at the loss of contact and I stop walking, hooking my index finger inside the front pocket of my jeans.
Sometimes I wonder if he’s even aware of how stupid his questions can be. It’s as if he completely blocked out what our past holds and what the future can’t and will never be.
“Because we’re ten feet away from meeting them. I don’t know about your precious Lulu, but I’m sure as hell Chris wouldn’t like to see another man’s hands all over me. Even if that man is you.” I know I’m being harsh, but he has to be reminded of the reality. While we are always touchy-feely on our own, to do the same in front of our significant others would be disrespectful.
I see the look in his eye change from his initial confusion into annoyance as he clicks his tongue and puts his hands on his waist.
“Why the fuck would they care? You’re my best friend. Cuddling your best friend isn’t a crime.” Ethan’s voice is steady and calm, but his tone is deep and almost aggravated.
“It is when your best friend is a girl. Dude, would you seriously be okay with Lulu going around and cuddling with other guys?” I raise a brow, challenging him and his opinion that I considered to be wrong, stupid even. With our history, any contact is a crime if one of us is involved with someone else. It’s always a crime, especially when your best friend is your biggest ‘what if’ or your ‘almost’.
That’s what Ethan is for me. My greatest heartache and yet my greatest happiness.
I don’t know what I represent to him.
“Yes! If she knew him as long as I know you, I’d be okay with it. I mean, I even forget you’re a girl at times!” Ethan exclaims and I narrow my eyes at him, swallowing thickly.
Does he comprehend how hurtful those words are?
Sometimes I wonder if he ever thinks before spewing such idiocy from his mouth.
“Wow. Thanks. What every girl wants to hear.” With a dejected tone, one I don’t bother hiding, I pass by him and walk faster. If I can walk fast enough to get around the building and find Chris at the corner, I’d be saved from talking with Ethan about this any further. If I do, I fear what might leave my lips.
As luck would have it, I never made it to the corner. Ethan’s legs are longer than mine, his stride more powerful and determined, catching up to me in five seconds tops. His hand latches onto my right arm, gently tugging me back. His hands hold onto my shoulders, steadying me in front of him as he cranes his neck down to look me in the eye.
“I didn’t mean it like that.” His husky voice rips the invisible stitches I had around my heart, opening old wounds that would ruin us both in the long run.
“You never mean it, yet you say it.” I reply bitterly, swatting his hands away from me. I hold his gaze while tears prick my eyes in their attempt to fall and weaken my resolve.
“Why do I have a feeling this is more than what I just said?” Ethan’s lips remain parted, those hazel hues trained on me for any indication of emotions or thoughts he could decipher.
“Because it is!” I raise my voice, my muscles tensing as I feel my body relive that night. It’s been two years, yet I couldn’t let it go. I forgave him for it, but I don’t think I’ll ever forget it.
“I could get used to this.” Ethan kissed me again, more feverishly as his hand clutched my thigh, dwelling closer toward where I needed him.
“Shut up.” I whisper against his lips, catching his bottom lip between my teeth. I nibble on the soft flesh lightly, enjoying the deep groan sounding from inside his rumbling chest. Releasing his lip, I lick my own, taking a moment to truly appreciate my best friend. The same best friend I’ve been sleeping with for a week now.
“Someone likes to stare. Can’t believe I’m this handsome, huh?” Ethan teases, cocking his right eyebrow arrogantly. Rolling my eyes at him, I grab onto his hair and pull his head back, just enough to expose his neck.
Slowly, almost agonizingly, I attach my lips to his neck and trail kisses across the sensitive skin from his collarbone and up, until I reach his jaw. He’s breathing shallow, his heartbeat going haywire against my chest as he presses into me and both of us in the wall behind me that keeps us standing. He releases a breathy moan, one so electrifying I can feel myself growing impatient, yet I want to stay in this moment. I want to appreciate every touch and every sigh his beautiful lips form, desperately memorizing every detail to perfection.
I’ve been craving this since we were sixteen and I definitely didn’t expect for him to ask me to prom. Even less that we’d start hooking up days before the dance. Now, we’re pressed against a wall in the girls’ bathroom, his suit becoming uncomfortably small with each passing second as my dress slowly comes undone.
I put my right arm around his neck, pulling his head closer to mine as my left hand cups his face. My left leg’s wrapped around his waist as he hoists me up and holds me in place.
“I’m really glad you ditched that loser for tonight.” He confesses, breathing heavily as we pause in our desire to devour one another. I think he’s doing the same as I, committing every line of my face to his memory. His hand tightens its hold on my thigh, pressing himself entirely against me until I feel every part of him wants a taste.
I want a taste too. Yes, I’ve ditched my date for prom because Ethan and I suddenly stopped being just friends who grew up together and knew each other’s deepest and darkest secrets, but two adults about to set off to college and possibly part for years to come. Perhaps it’s why we stopped pretending and decided being honest and taking what we want is a good idea. Maybe that same thought invited the madness that took over as my heart benched my brain and spoke loudly and clearly of what resides within.
I smiled as he confessed how happy he is that I sacked someone for him, hoping it meant what I thought it did. That’s why I allowed for this to happen.
“I love you, Ethan. Of course I chose you.” I speak the words delicately, without a trace of doubt. Those very words weighed on my heart heavily for longer than I’d like to admit, but not anymore. I’ve set them free of their cage and they would never be forgotten by either of us for years to come.
Ethan stared at me dumbfounded, almost shocked with my revelation. I sensed his body tense up and his muscles flex under my touch as he froze in this position. I returned his stare, expectantly awaiting a response. Any word would do. Anything but silence he had given me.
I swallow thickly, pushing down tears I felt coming as I pushed against him with my palms. He cocked his jaw, moving it left to right with his lips parted, not relenting.
“Let me go.” I demand, but my voice is shaky and airy for I am shocked as well. I’m shocked he wouldn’t even dignify me with a proper response.
“LET ME GO, DAMN IT!” I knee him in the groin. His hold completely dissolves, releasing a groan as I too stumble and fall, hitting my head against the wall harder than I anticipated. Wearing high heels and getting someone to hoist you up only to fall without remembering your feet are not on the ground is not something I’d recommend. It hurts like a bitch.
I touch the back of my head, the spot that hurts with a burning sensation while Ethan gets back on his feet and walks closer to me. My vision blurs a little, but I’m not too far gone to see there’s blood on my fingers from where I touched my head.
Ethan goes to touch me, but I shake my head at him.
“What happened here will never be spoken about again. Understand?” I glare at him, sternly stating my terms. He wouldn’t answer anyway and this prevented us from talking about it later on. It would save our friendship, although I’m not sure if that’s what I want.
And we didn’t.
He took me to the ER and seven stitches later I fell asleep in the backseat of his Jeep.
Two days later, Ethan got a girlfriend he would date for the summer and I went to travel the country with my family. Neither of us expected to meet in college once more, especially when we barely spoke over the summer and neither told the other where we decided to go.
But we met again.
Our friendship blossomed once more and we became inseparable again.
Except it was never the same.
I always kept that night in the back of my mind. I was committed to memorizing everything and I did. I couldn’t erase it as it was now permanently ingrained in my brain, no matter how hard I tried. And I tried with everything I could possibly find. Alcohol, guys, even weed once. Nothing helped.
At times, we picked up our old habit of sleeping together, mostly when one or both of us got blackout drunk or became so desperate. No matter who initiated it, we’d go through with it. It didn’t matter if we were with someone at the time because the next day, we’d wake up alone and we’d never talk of it.
It hasn’t happened in four months, not since I met Chris and stupidly introduced him to Lulu, the popular sorority girl on campus. But I felt it and I think he did too. It is bound to happen again, bombing these relationships just as the previous ones we had.
No matter what we do, we’re drawn to each other like magnets. He’s the South and I am the North, fitting perfectly on opposite ends of the world, but neither can exist without the other.
“What do you want me say? You want to talk about us now?” Ethan pushes, his face hardening and his jaw clenching, erasing the playful persona he had only a second ago.
“After all this time?” He watches me carefully, knowing I am on the edge. So why is he trying to push me over? I’m not an angel nor a bird, I won’t be able to fly should I fall. I’ll splatter on the ground, nothing of me would remain.
Crossing my arms over my chest, I purse my lips and force myself to look into his eyes. The very eyes I saw my beginning and my end in.
"How many times are we going to push each other away?" I say quietly, my voice weak and tone broken. I’ve been too strong, too patient for too long with Ethan and he never gave me a reason to stay. It’s why I decided to date Chris, because he always showed me utmost respect and dedication. He made me feel safe when Ethan made me feel like I’m adrift at sea. It’s always a storm with him and I wonder how many storms can a person survive, because I think I’m at my last one.
"Until it sticks." Ethan replies firmly and I press my lips together, giving a short nod as my fingernails dig into the skin of my upper arms where my hands rest. I feel as if I’m choking on a small ball of pain and anxiety lodged inside my throat and it hurts me even more to keep my sob inside than it would to let it out. But if I cry now, I fear I’ll never stop.
I don’t look toward him, averting my eyes aside to turn my thoughts elsewhere and release a shaky sigh. With the sigh, my lips tremble and I find a warm pair of hands at my hips, forcing me to flinch and step back.
As I’m about to tell Ethan to let me be, Lulu and Chris step into the scene and I swallow my tears as I always do and put on a fake smile for my boyfriend.
“There you are! We’ve been worried.” Chris says, pecking my lips before embracing me.
Ethan wraps his arms around Lulu, gently swaying them, but his eyes aren’t closed nor are they on her. As I look over Chris’s shoulder, I see Ethan looking back. We stare wistfully into each others eyes, neither saying a word.
Perhaps this time will be different and Ethan’s right. Maybe this time it sticks.

I would love to see more love for the other kitties too (lala is feisty and fun and underappreciated) but I can totally understand giving lulu more characterization and screentime 😢 i think it comes from a place of clair not wanting him to feel sick because of his hereditary arthritis? And keeping him active and enabling that just goes hand in hand with it?
i know, i’ll keep that in mind~
lulu’s popularity comes from a number of things, i don’t think his constant appearances are tied purely to claire feeling bad abt him or his health; lulu is already incredibly active on his own (he’s the first one to chase toys usually), he’s a big mama’s boy with a loud meow, he’s cute and very unique looking, he acts...weird/does what he wants, etc. — all of these things compound and he easily becomes a mascot. i can’t explain why people only latch onto one cat since i can’t relate but i understand why people like him so much
in short, i really just think we see lulu so much because fan demand is so high; supply & demand that arose from all of the things mentioned above and here and here~
we could theorize all day tbh but i feel like it all comes down to the same points
#luv.ask#anon#i dont want this to turn into discourse btw#idk what else can be said abt lulu#u wont stop seeing him here#and i'm always keeping an eye out for all of them

Requested Little Mix Engagement Inspired Outfits
Leigh
PRETTYLITTLETHING WHITE SCUBA HIGH NECK TIE WAIST JUMPSUIT: £21. A engagement party can be a tricky affair, You want to look as good as possible but you don`t want to go over the top and outshine the bride. So we have put together a few outfits that will hopefully maybe inspire you or help you make that final decision. For each girl I went with a different look and alternative - Not everyone wants to go in a dress and you also have to think about the many factors such as comfort, Price and weather. So with Leigh I decided to go for a jumpsuit and I posted below the jumpsuit I was inspired by when she wore a pink sequin blush jumpsuit for a appearance many years ago. We wanted to go down that same route but keep the embellishment to a minimum otherwise it would`ve looked like we would be off to a Christmas party afterwards. Unfortunately, Not many embellished jumpsuits are available at the moment or none that suited the event so we decided to go for a white jumpsuit instead and we went with this one from PrettyLittleThing. I know for a fact this is a popular item as it has been on PLT`s website for ages and they keep restocking due to popular demand. The jumpsuit is very flattering...The long white fitted flare legs gives people the illusion of longer legs, the top half features a ruched effect where it synches in topped off by a tie up, I love this jumpsuit it is so modern, classy and trendy. The side boob might not be to everyone's taste but with a few pins and boob tape you`ll be in good hands. I went with the idea there may be kids at this engagement party so you would want to keep it demure and mature and not upstage the bride, The colour against the sun would be out of this world - You would radiate. This jumpsuit comes in many other colours and patterns such as floral, Green, Red, Black and Orange.
Lulu`s KATHERINE ROSE GOLD METALLIC RHINESTONE MULES: $99. These arent the original shoes as featured above, the shoes became out of stock over night. But I originally went with rose gold embellished perspex mules in case you wanted to wear something different and because the jumpsuit is white and to add a bit of flair and colour to the outfit you could do that with the accessories and the shoes. I went back to find some more rose gold mules and no where had them in stock, The only place was Lulu`s and yes I am aware of the price.
ASOS DESIGN headband with graduating pearls in gold tone: £12. I added this in case you wanted to go extra. Pearl`s in hair accessories has become a big trend lately as you will see later. I thought this was such a cute, quirky accessory.
River Island Rose gold boxy mini cross body bag: £18. I did want a simple rose gold clutch that wasn`t too out there or large but yet again hardly no one had one. So we went with this one from River Island instead which I think will do the job nicely.
PrettyLittleThing ROSE GOLD 80MM LARGE HOOP EARRINGS: £2. Lastly, Just because Leigh wears hoops a lot we had to add them like I do on every post. For those eagle eyed viewers you will notice this is the same pair of earrings I featured in my last inspired. I don`t wear earrings myself but £2 for a pair of good sustainable earrings? What more could you ask for. We`re also continuing on with adding colour with these earrings. Of course you could always do it the other way round by wearing a colourful outfit and then downplaying it with mutual shoes and accessories. Don`t forget it`s always a good idea to experiment and mix and match.
Jade
ASOS Dusty Daze jacquard blazer co-ord: £75. Secretly hoping this suit I chose for Jade will steal all of your hearts, How beautiful is this? The print of this, the colour and the cuteness is enough to make me buy it. I simply went for this cause I imagined right away what this would look like against the backdrop of the sun, You will glow. I chose a suit because Jade is fan of a suit very often and we`re also mixing it up and giving you options. The trousers are cropped giving you slimmer ankles, The suit is fitted to make you feel comfortable and confident. I know the price is a little pricey but imagine what this would look like in photos and you would definitely receive a lot of compliments. If you don`t like this suit then I have chosen many other style of suits and colours for you that would work well against the sun and at a engagement party such as orange, Neon Orange, Green, Darker Orange, Purple, Blue.
ASOS Dusty Daze straight leg jacquard trousers co-ord: £55. I always think of a suit as a alternative for someone such as a tomboy who doesn`t like wearing dresses or skirts. Wearing a suit you can feel just as sexy and confident and not to mention feel like a boss too.....Even though you`re not in an office.
River Island White cross back cami top: £16. For the top we have to keep it simple as the suit is doing the talking here, Put in a neon top and it`s too busy so try and keep the colours mutual to break it up.
River Island Gold embellished shoulder bag: £30. I didn`t want to go for a pink clutch as it would clutch against the suit, So I didn`t really have much to go on and my colour coordination is terrible. So we went with this bag from River Island which is actually similar to a bag Jade has from Topshop.
H&M Long Earrings: $9.99. Another extra if you didn`t want to feel bare, We went with these hammered effect earrings from H&M. These have exploded onto the scene lately especially the gold coloured ones. We also managed to find another pair in another style here.
ASOS DesignB London rose gold hairband: £6. As usaul as I was searching for outfits the inspiration flowed and ideas was coming at me from every angle. So to go with the confident, empowering, boss look we have going on we thought we would add this rose gold hairband. Slick your hair back into a low ponytail before adding this gem.
PrettyLittleThing CLOVER BLACK METALLIC STRAP HEELED SANDALS: £18
Jesy
River Island Lime cigarette trousers: £36. I know this won`t be too everyone's taste but neon/fluro colours have also exploded onto the scene lately and the girls have been seen wearing it too and to be honest with you I got stuck with what to put for Jesy, You can`t really go to a engagement party dressed in all black now can you? Talk about a party spoiler. But we eventually got there and we came up with this. Can you guess where I got my inspiration from? Jesy rocked up to Leigh`s swimwear launch in a fluro number and she rocked it well, Very well. So we thought we would hop on that bandwagon and hey gusto here we are. I`d just like to point out that there is a difference between neons and limes and fluros..One is either brighter and the other is either dark, Found that out yesterday. Jesy wore neon green designer tailored trousers which complimented her legs so well, So we picked up these trousers from River Island which comes in a co-ord.
River Island Bright yellow boyfriend blazer: £65. Don`t be fooled when it says bright yellow it`s the same colour as the trousers. This structured blazer would give your body definition and that confident/sexy feeling. This jacket is not only for a engagement party but it`s so versatile too, You can step out in black jeans, black boots and a black top whilst going out for dinner or you can wear it casually with jeans, trainers and a white cami. Great investment this jacket.
PRETTYLITTLETHING WHITE UNDERWIRED CAGE DETAIL LACE BODY: £19. Because the co-ord does the talking and is so bright it could blind you we wanted to break up the colour in the middle with something white and we went with a bodysuit. Lace bodysuits have popped up onto the scene for the last year or so now and are everywhere. You can wear them for anything. I think the reason these have become so popular is because they are no longer seen as a lingerie product and more of a product you can wear everyday now. However if you don`t like the lace effect then we have picked up another bodysuit from MissGuided which is much more simpler here
Boohoo Patent Court Shoes: £19. Again the suit does the talking and you don`t want anything else clashing with it, So we kept it simple with the shoes and went with these nude patent ones from Boohoo.
PRETTYLITTLETHING SILVER 100MM HOOP EARRINGS: £2 Yes, These earrings again. But this time we went with a pair of silver earrings just because we think these would look great against the white.
ASOS DESIGN tassel clutch bag: £12
Perrie
ASOS DESIGN Petite 3D embellished crop top midi dress: £38. I`ve wanted to use this dress for so long in one of my inspireds I love it so much. I can see how it would be more of a race day/cocktail party in your garden/wedding dress but I think it could also pass as a engagement party dress as well. The colour on this is amazing, it blows my mind. I think it`s so cute because of the length and the way it is structured with the gems on the neck. You can get down to a tune or two with the skirt not being so fitted and tight, You can let go and be free and feel the wind in your hair as you dance around to your favourite songs. This dress also comes in other colours such as taupe and purple
ASOS DesignB London faux pearl detail large hair clip 2 pack: £8. These were what I was talking about earlier. Hair clips/slides have POPPED up massively onto the scene, They are everywhere! You can get them small, big, medium in whatever styles and colours they are everywhere, you cannot miss them. So we hopped on board that train and included these pearl hair clips. I did notice that pearl hair accessories are big this summer so we have a range of different styles and colours to choose from in a moment. But this would go perfect against your dress and you would look a million dollars. The other suggestions we got were another set of pearl slides, Rectangle, Hair slides.
PrettyLittleThing CLOVER SILVER METALLIC STRAP HEELED SANDALS: £18. As i`ve said before the dress does the talking and you don`t want everything else to be busy, So we kept it busy with a pair of silver heels from PrettyLittleThing.
New Look Off White Faux Pearl Beaded Bag: £20. I originally wanted to go with a pearl clutch, But I soon found myself surrounded by these beauties. These have become so popular this summer, They are bang on trend. They are cute, quirky, chic and classic little bag. This bag is so unique and different and would make you stand out. They do come in other colours but we thought white would look great against the dress. We did have trouble finding one as most are sold out everywhere but we managed to there in the end with this one from New Look. However, We also managed to find one from here

Top Women's Fashion Secrets
While the styles could be limitless, the animals aren't. Use a complete length mirror to see whether there are any obvious indicators that you're wearing lingerie. Today you'll find a pair in a colour that actually does match your personality.
The tattoo will just work without alteration to the design if you apply the shoulder. There's no ideal couture fashion photograph. It's important to get an organic stream of designs that weaves together, if you opt for a design hat is composed of several.
The War Against Women's Fashion For 2011 you're likely to come across dresses are no longer just for special occasions, that dresses are presently a portion of our everyday wardrobe. If you're looking for a designer piece that delivers exclusivity to your styling requirements, then step into Akarshaan and choose from a wide variety of Kalamkari designer dresses. It is extremely easy for all of us to understand women's fashion. The fact a Japanese magazine or a number of magazines is promoting a trend doesn't necessarily signify that the trend could ever make it to the street. We believe fashion is the same as comfort and if you aren't comfortable wearing a piece you won't look confident. These magazines can be helpful in many unique ways. As the handbag industry started to grow, pockets were no longer regarded as a necessity for ladies. Both of these items were exact opposites of one another. If your clients demand the most recent trends in the fashion business, this is where to find all of it. Women's Fashion - Is it a Scam? In the summer season it isn't always feasible to avoid a rash from forming but by employing common sense as your guide you'll be comfortable.
