best method, best tea
depending on the herb you use to make your tea, any of the three methods i talked about can work just fine for making a tea blend from.
it's most a matter of time as each method and plant have a different time span of drying out.
air drying by hanging is likely the longest but is most commonly used for flowering herbs like lavender or even sage, mainly for the lingering scent they give off while hanging.
you could very well use the microwave method for a faster batch of dried herbs.
when it comes to the herb youre using for tea, leaves and buds could be crushed up or steeped whole, so regardless of the method you choose however you go about making your tea from dried herbs is fine and completely up to you.
of course things like how ling they sit to dry and loose theor moisture can effect how they might taste when sitting in hot water but not by very much, the amount of time they sit in the water can be recommended differently depending on the plant or part of said plant as well.
its perfectly fine to experiment until you find the right combination that you like best.
there are plenty of other methods for drying tea herbs as well, some onclude the oven rather than the microwave or the stove, or you can use tools like a dehydrator if you have one. no one method is best over all, its very much up to opinion.
whatever method you find best is a-okay.

moldy stash
how can herbs expire after storing and drying if the idea is to do that so they last longer?
a lot of things have a different length of shelf life, canned goods included.
if you dont keep your herbs tightly seald and stored awat from sunlight and moisture, you risk them rotting amd molding. they are dead plants after all and dead plants do eventually rot away at some point.
the average shelf life for dried leafy herbs is 1-3 years before it looses its flavor, 4 years for seeds and a week to 6 months for fresh (ground) spices. salt is really the only thing that lasts indefinitely.
after the dried herbs loose their flavor theres really no use keeping them around as anything with them will just taste bland or very very mild if at all.
the herbs will start to lose their colour and brown after being stored for that long so its best to throw them away at the 3 year mark.

i hope this helped! if theres anything else i can expand on please let me know.

Sometimes it’s hard to read fanfic when you’re studying herbalism.. when they have the character preparing a tincture to use that same DAY!!?
Baby those dried herbs need to sit in that jar with high proof alcohol for at LEAST a month!
That’s why before the use of calendars ppl use to prepare their tinctures either on the new moon or full moon. A a full moon cycle is usually 28 days or so. And they would give the moon names so it’s easier to remember when/what month said tincture was bottled.
This is also why herbal medicine is prepare in small batches. You have to take your time preparing your bottles. Making sure everything is clean so you don’t end up with mold. Diluting your grain alcohol. Heckkk knowing when to pick your herbs for max potency! Drying your herbs! That takes a lot of time too!
I didn’t mean to rant lol

herbal teas guide —
🌿🍃 having conversations with my mutuals all over the world, i was stunned to find out that not every country/culture practices drinking herbal teas for health issues. as a slavic person i decided to create this little guide because – and i'm saying this as a skeptical person who hates superstitions – they really work. 🍃🌿
mint tea (mentha piperita) is for digestion and relaxation chamomile tea (matricaria chamomilla) is for digestive system horsetail tea (equisetum arvense) is for skin, hair, nails condition, remineralization and circulatory system linden tea (tilia cordata) is for a cold lemon balm tea (melissa officinalis) is for relaxation and sleep nettle tea (uritca dioica) is for urinary tract sage tea (salvia officinalis) is for when your throat or teeth hurt fennel tea (funiculum vulgare) is for digestive system white mulberry tea (morus alba) is for carbohydrate metabolism pansy tea (viola tricolor) is for clean skin and body detox purge tea (cistus incanus) is for immunity hawthorn tea (crataegus monogyna) is for heart and circulatory system damian leaves tea (turnera diffusa) is for anxiety and libido dandelion tea (taraxacum officinale) is for liver, stomach and digestion st john's wort tea (hypericum perforatum) is for emotional balance, good mood, digestive system and kidney function
🌿🍃 to create this guide i was using a booklet from my pharmacy store. if you google them, you will find out that each of these have even more usage methods than the ones listed. 🍃🌿
🌿🍃 if you're from a different country/culture and you know more herbal teas like these, feel free to add them. 🍃🌿

hey, benji here to ask about herbs again:> 1. do you have any resource recommendations for chronic pain and herbs, I am trying to find ways to get started, but I really don't want to end up in an MLM or something lol and 2. are there any tips you have for someone who is just starting to look into this for pain treatment? (also sorry if you have answered these before, my memory is terrible)
Hi! Just woke up so brains a little slow
When it comes to herbs and pain management, lavender and hemp combos are my go to. Bubble bath, bath salt, cream etc
Lavender is very calming and relaxing and anything that can relax your muscles and nerves can make pain a little easier to handle, the less tension in your body the better.
Any herbs with a relaxing effect, even with association to water, can help be relaxing. Some herbs will have more of that effect in tea than anything but lavender is #1 for its variety of uses.
As for tips to people new to using herbs for their body, yes.
Major warning, be careful of allergies. If you are at all allergic to any plants or anything in products that have those herbs, ne very aware of that.
I don't want anyone making themselves feel worse instead of better if they have an allergy to something they use.
If you aren't sure, either get tested or test it out in a very cautious small amount. A light touch of the plant or product to your skin and if there are signs of a reaction wash it off immediately and dont use it.
Always check the ingredients of products before buying or using them incase there's something you can't have it it.
And if you have pets as well definitely keep things far out of their reach.
If you have a doctor ask if they recommend any specific products for muscle relaxant. Some doctors have an idea of what might work for you or what might be available for you to try out.
Creams or scrubs with lavender and melatonin can make it easier to sleep with pain.
Granted growing and using herbs for pain management isn't always very effective at least not compared to something like prescribed medication, but it does ease the body at the very least.
If you think it'll help go for it.
I will add on my plant list what plants can also assist with matters of the body like lavenders calming effect and aloes healing.
I hope this helped a little for now though!

one of the things i love about wha is how clearly the magic and ideas the girls learn and have build on top of each other over time. the continuing theme of magic as solutions, and your own spells can be made by adapting what you know into something new.
in one of her first uses of magic, coco uses fabric to sail through the air at the dagda mountains; she later creates the mantle of flight. the air twisting seal she learns to use to pick fruit becomes part of a spell to create rain underneath the sea. agott uses a bird of light to distract people at the river; later, we learn her love for the decorative seals, and her knowledge comes in use to bring people joy, and to help with the curtain leech. every person has their own magic, and everyone's magic connects together to create new things.
no magic is useless; no magic is too small or too basic. no magic is unloved.
