What are Infused Oils?
Tumblr media
What are they?
Infused oils are herbal components or spices placed in a jar of carrier oil like Olive Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Avacado Oil, Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil, etc. Can be used in cooking, herbal ailments and skincare.
Are they essential oils?
No. Short answer, no. Long answer? I'll give you an explanation. Essential oils are distilled using Steam Distillation, Solvent Extraction, CO2 Extraction, Maceration, Enfleurage, Cold Press Extraction, and or Water Distillation. Lotta words huh? It takes a lot of work to make essential oils. Unfortunately, it also takes quite a bit of that plant to make even those tiny 10ml bottles you purchase. Of course, each plant varies. However, it still can lead to a larger environmental impact.
For instance, one pound of essential oil can be extracted from approximately 250 pounds of rosemary leaves, or from 150 pounds of lavender buds, or say 50 pounds of eucalyptus leaves. This is why you see some as more expensive than others. Unfortunately, you can see where the problem lies in plants that are more threatened or endangered. If you must use essential oils, source responsibly (and not from a Pyramid scheme but I'm not opening that can of worms)
Can I use infused oils in my practice?
Yes! Absolutely! All these oil recipes you see for spell oils are exactly that. You can even use the elemental correspondences of the carrier oils you use for spell oils. As an example Olive Oil is traditionally known for the fire element and Coconut Oil is water. The possibilities for your personal correspondence are endless!
Now I'll stop rambling. Here are a few methods I learned to infuse oils in my courses and through self-herbalist study.
Method One:
The Folk Method - The most common
Directions
Place DRIED herbs in a clean, dry jar. Leave at least 1 to 3 inches of open space above your herbs to cover with oil.
Fill the remaining space in the jar with the oil of your choice, making sure to cover herbs by at least 1 inch or more. If the herbs emerge above the surface of the oil at any point while infusing, pour more oil on top to ensure the herbs remain covered.
Cap the jar tightly and shake well.
Place the jar in a sunny, warm windowsill and shake once or more per day.
After 2 to 3 weeks, strain the herbs out of the oil using cheesecloth or a mesh strainer. Or you can leave it in but straining is recommended if you are using dropper bottles as it clogs the caps.
Pour into clean glass bottles.
Remember to label your jars with the date, type of oil, and herbs used! You WILL forget! Trust me.
Store in a cool, dark place. The oil may keep for up to a year.
Method Two:
The Heat Infused Method - Quick Infusion
Directions
Place herbs in the crock pot or double boiler. Cover with extra virgin olive oil (or other carrier oil of choice), leaving at least an inch or two of oil above the herbs.
Gently heat the herbs over very low heat (preferably between 100° and 140° F for 1 to 5 hours, until the oil takes on the colour and scent of the herb. Some recommend heating the oil for 48 to 72 hours at a controlled temperature of 100° F. Turn off the heat and allow it to cool. I personally prefer letting it sit in a crock pot for 72 hours as I feel like I get all of the benefits out of the herb.
Once oil is cooled, strain using cheesecloth.
Bottle in dry, sterilized glass bottles. LABEL your bottles with the date and contents before storing them.
Store in a cool, dark, dry place for up to six months.
Best herbs to infuse in oil
There are a countless number of herbs, spices and resins that can be infused into the oil. Please make sure these herbs are free from pesticides and chemicals (not found on the roadside). Dried herbs work best as you don't want your mixture spoiling sooner. Here are some great examples of herbs to use.
Pine needles
Calendula flowers
Chamomile flowers
Lavender
Lemon balm
Peppermint leaf
Rosemary leaf
Thyme leaf
There you have it! Now have fun and source responsibility.
Happy witching!

You have a typical bad date at a good restaurant - which gets crashed (or saved) by the handsome chef that has a thing for you.
This is with a fem!reader in mind. Who is very exhausted and unnerved.
involves fun things like swearing, smoking and alcohol. But no smut. We are not having so much fun 🤨

Your evening was horrible, it even beat your day of totally unnecessary meetings. Sitting opposite Thomas, your blind date for the evening, was a test for your mental health. He went on and about his ex-girlfriend, who, as he told you, was absolutely crazy, stupid, hysterical and he was so over her after almost a year. Yeah buddy, tell yourself that.
And that after he had been so extremely nice on the dating app where you met him. Shame. He was actually good looking and had a stable job, he was funny and smart. And still hung up on his ex for some reason. By now, you knew everything about her. You sipped at your wine, bored out of your mind by the next story about how horrible she was on their last vacation together. At least the wine and food were excellent. Thomas picked the location. Bet he was here with his ex, too. You see a waiter running around and wave with your glass to indicate that you need a refill. He swiftly came by and asked: “The pinot grigio again?”. You just nodded, that wine was tasty. “Or might I recommend the wine our chef has picked to be paired with the main course?”
“No thank you, I'll have more of the pinot.” you insisted. Better stay with what you know.
The waiter, however, came back with another glass as you listened to Thomas now talking bad about other dates he had found on the app. Oh boy, do you think I now feel better than the others? Knowing how you talk about women you dated? You think, only noticing in the last moment that the wine you were brought was red instead of white. “Excuse me”, you call the waiter back. “This isn’t the pinot?”
“Chef’s recommendation, he said it’s on the house”, the waiter informs you with an apologetic smile.
Free booze! “Tell him my thanks”, you say as politely as possible. This evening just got better.
“You know, you shouldn’t drink so much”, Thomas commented on your second glass of wine with a well intended, but ultimately unnerving wink. Yeah, just destroy my happiness, you think as you already feel a bit guilty. You knew you shouldn’t indulge. Just like you should work out regularly, stop smoking and eat more veggies than instant ramen. Since this was your first date in ages with no other currently in sight, you set the glass down and ate something of the incredibly tasty pasta you were served. The sauce was just the right consistency and tasted of fresh herbs, tomatoes and childhood summer evenings. So delicious you actually had to sigh. And it went so perfectly with the wine. Another sip.
“Y/n, what do you think?” Thomas asked, it was all of his monologue you could hear.
“What?”
“I asked what do you think about the elections?” he repeated his question, talking very loud and clearly.
Fuck, politics. It would be wise to know about that before this got serious, but you where exhausted. “Uhm” you eloquently started, “I think elections are important for democracy.”
Thomas turned into the blank face emoji. It looked funny enough. Needing a pick-you-up, you excused yourself and pretended to go to the bathroom. Instead you headed to the small garden of the restaurant to have a secret smoke. The cold wind was refreshing and you took out your zippo. Looking at the childish motif you had to smile– a cute comic reindeer eating ice cream. It was it a moose? Tanuki? Never mind.
Zip, zip
only a few sparks, no flame.
Ok, trusty zippo, don’t leave me hanging.
Zip, zip,zip...nothing.
“Fuck”
The clicking of your futile attempts goes on and on – until finally, the sound of an igniting flame. You shield your cigarette from the wind when you realize it wasn’t yours that actually worked. A flame is held against the tip of your cigarette, you breathe in, igniting it and inhaling the first draft of sweet smoke.
“Oh thank yooouuuuu” you started your sentence well but screwed up at the end, sounding like a screeching car instead of a human. Unprepared to stare into the clearest and most fascinating blue eyes you have ever seen, your cigarette almost fell out of your gaping mouth. The eyes were embedded in a perfect, male face. He was tall, blonde, with a perfectly groomed goatee and creamy-white skin. His blonde hair was expertly styled and fell over one of his eyes. You noticed that the eyebrow that was not covered with a golden lock was bent into an elegant curl. His perfect mouth gave you a warm smile as he said: “You’re welcome, my lady.” He took a draw from his own cigarette. It looked like in ads. If you wouldn’t have been smoking since you were 14, that would have been the time to start.
Unable to resist you looked him up and down. Tall, slender, long legs. He was wearing a fine taylored suit, complete with a west and tie, an ensemble that accentuated his narrow waist and broad shoulders. Trying to act like a normal person you pried your gaze away and politely ignored him. Besides, it was ridiculous to drool over a guy of that calibre. While on a date with another. You tried to stay realistic, your blonde gentleman surely already had a girlfriend. Or two. Probably just as pretty.
Watching your last puff of smoke curl in the night sky, you decided to get back and give this date your sincerest efforts, like a real adult would. You turned to throw the gleaming bud in the trash.
“Whoa” the blonde model man stood far too near to you. When did he move closer? Unable to stop the momentum of your turn, you bumped into his chest.
“Oh, sorry, I didn’t see you there” you blurted out and smiled out of pure embarrassment.
“No worries” he said confidently. “OH MY GOSH YOU’RE SO CUTE” he squeaked, a total contrast to his previous demeanor, staring at your face, visibly blushing.
“Uhm, thank you…?” you said with a clear question mark at the end of your sentence.
“I hope you like the wine I picked for you, my lady” he continued like nothing happened, still smoking.
“Uhm what?” you asked.
“The red wine. Goes with the pasta. A perfect combination. From the look on your face, you enjoyed it” he explained matter of factly, looking all cool and business again. “After my shift, we can drink some more together.”
Was he hitting on you? He must have seen that you were with someone.
“I am actually on a date…” you voice trailed off.
“That’s a date? Looks like a piece of work” he says and chuckles. “I can show you a really good time. I'm Sanji, what's your name?” he said with a bow, clearly courting you now. And getting a bit creepy.
“You know, I gotta go now” you excused yourself and quickly returned inside.
“Wait till you taste my dessert!” he shouted behind you.
What a strange guy, looking like an actor while acting like a total creep. You didn’t get it, a handsome man like that wouldn’t need to be so pushy. A bit of charm and every woman in sight would eat out of his hand. You sat down at the table again, Thomas was scrolling on his phone, barely acknowledging your presence. He wasn’t much but at least you knew what kind of man he was: after a bad breakup he got a little bitter, and judgy. But other than that, he was better than most. Wasn’t that the best you could hope for? Everyone told you that your standards were too high.
Just as your thoughts took a gloomy turn, the waiter sat down a beautifully decorated plate in front of you with a crème brulée and strawberry sauce.
Thomas looked up from his phone to inform the waiter that they didn’t order that. The waiter looked uncomfortable as he answered: “A gift from the kitchen. On the house. For the lady.”
Perplexed, you twisted and turned in your chair until you caught a glimpse of the kitchen entrance, and, unsurprisingly, there stood a tall, handsome man, now with an apron over his fine suit, and winked lewdly at you.
You already drank the wine. Free dessert couldn’t hurt. Besides, shifts in the kitchen ended really late, you would be gone until he was free. You dug in. The crust on the sweet treat was crispy caramel with a vanilla cream underneath. You couldn’t help it, a pronounced “mhmm” escaped your mouth as you savoured every bite. It felt like the most comforting thing in the world, it tasted like coming home after a long day. To a real, cozy home. A feeling you were barely able to enjoy anymore, being too stressed and exhausted to even properly relax. This was your treat after a long week and you ate with your eyes closed.
“You like it?” you heard Sanji's voice in your ear, much to close. Startled, you wanted to jump up but instead just pushed the chair back, falling backwards. The chef caught you casually with one hand and sat the chair back in the floor.
“You’re so beautiful when you enjoy something” he praised you with a husky, soft voice. The dreamy expression on his face was almost too much.
“Excuse me, who are you? Can you believe this guy...?" Thomas spat the words out angrily, looking at the scene with disbelief.
"I cannot believe you can be sitting in front of the cutest Lady in the world and you stare at your phone? Your loss” you heard Sanji say in a taunting voice, suddenly sounding like a street thug.
"I want to talk to the manager" Thomas demanded, standing up.
"Let's everyone just calm down, because there is no problem and nothing" You tried to save the evening while the two men attacked each other with hostile glares. "Thank you for the dessert, it was delicious" you say to Sanji, whose eyes have turned into hearts the moment you adressed him. And turning to Thomas you say "let's just get the cheque and call it a night. It was a nice date, let's do that again some time!" You may not have sounded entirely convincing, but it was enought that both of them backed off, muttering curses.
While splitting the cheque and getting ready ti go, you heard loud noises coming from the kitchen - and lots of cursing.
Sanji
Zeff beat him up really good that night, stupid waiter snitched on him hitting on guests yet again. The restaurant couldn't take one more bad review about him.
But he just couldn't help himself. Watching her face light up as she ate his food was unresistable to him, having a quiet smoke together and watching her suck on the cigarette, blowing out the steam from her perfect lips...he couln't resist.
As Jeff kicked his ass out of the restaurant, ending Sanji's shift early, he decided to call it a day and get home. His feet hurt from standing in the kitchen all day and he was tired from the long hours he worked. Lighting a cigarette, he decided to walk the rest of the way home, he could use a little exercise.
The night air was fresh and the streets empty and quiet. He often walked home alone after work. The loneliness was both soothing after a stressful day, but it also made him painfully aware that no one was beside him, no hand he could hold, no one that would need his jacket to keep warm.
He imagined the girl from the restaurant walking beside him. She looked tired, unnerved when she came in. Nothing special. But when she got the chance to relax, her whole being seemed to change. She enjoyed life's pleasures intensely, fully. And to his eyes, she became a princess. He imagined her with him, grumpy and tired - until Sanji gave her his jacket, put his arm around her and kissed her hair. His head spun a fantasy of her beautiful smile that was just for him - causing him smile in reality. Alone. He swore that if he ever found her again, he would do anything to make her enjoy herself again.
His little fantasy improved his mood and he hummed french chansons all the way back home. His apartment building was old, but charming. It was usually pretty quiet and empty when he left around noon, and dark and deserted when he got back in the middle of the night. He hardly ever met the other inhabitants. That night, one of the flats still had some light in it. He looked up - his cigarette escaped his mouth and fell on the cobblestone of the street.
It was her, no mistake. She leaned out of a window and had one last smoke before bed, he figured. He watched, mesmerized, as her little mouth puffed out tiny clouds.
She lived just next to him, all this time. Fate has brought her to his restaurant tonight, it was meant to be! He stared a few more minutes until she was finished and retreated back inside, switching of the lights.
A tiny flame illuminated Sanji's face as he lit another cigarette. "I'll win your heart, my princess. Just you wait."
Now that you've read the whole thing, let me know in the comments if you liked this slow burn! 👇
I am planning more parts where Sanji tries to win your heart and you get to know him better as a person, there will be hot moments and endearing situations. Please let me know what you would love to read! I srly absolutely need your people's written feedback on this because it's a niche and I am no good writing into the void. Dm, comment, reblog kath cryptic tags....anything.

2024 Grimoire Challenge Review - January Week 1
Well, I had to wait until Wednesday to get out of the house and get a binder and some paper for my challenge grimoire this year, so I basically speedran all of the December prep and the first week of January, because I will never learn and never improve on this habit of mine.
Keeping in line with other grimoires I've used in the past (such as the Epsilon Ledger and the Delta Book of Tarot Spreads), this red binder has been named the Eta Binder. I wrote down my proper name (let's go, trans mages!), tacked @2024-grimoire-challenge onto it to remind myself that that's what we're doing, and gave it a date of working. Since I started on Wednesday, that's 1/3/2024 (because I'm an American) to an unknown end date.
I had to scramble to come up with a list of 52 plants and stones to work on. I just went through the list of herbs and teas offered by my local ("local" being half an hour away) spice shop and capped it off with some Missouri flowers. For the stones, I just flipped through Judy Hall's Crystal Bible (somehow both a really good and really bad reference book) back and forth a bunch of times until I had a list of crystals I hadn't already done dives about.
As for my magical study ideas, I mostly just threw shit down that I've been interested in or have just gotten interested in. I gave each deity I worship their own bulletpoint and also split up the specific areas of pop culture magic I'm digging more into. I made sure there was a blend of comfortable old stuff, brand new stuff that I'm not sure of, and things that are generally outside of my purview.
Through the power of "work had too many 3-ring binder dividers", I have split my binder into seven sections - 1 is Plants, 2 is Stones, 3 is Work-Related Notes, 4 is Spells Designed (if I complete any, they'll be moved into my spell binder that also houses all of my correspondence lists), 5 if Journal, 6 is currently blank, and 7 is Empty Pages.
Then I finally got started on the actual projects. For the plant and crystal prompts this week, I used an integer generator online to choose two numbers randomly and received caraway (aka Carum carvi) and muscovite (aka KAl2(AlSi3O10)(F,OH)2), so I used my normal research process for the two. It was actually pretty fun, if you ignore the fact that my hand hurt so much because it ended up being 4 pages (well, 2 pages but front and back) EACH of information drawn from books and digital sources that I was all but copying word for word.
As for the Work-Related Notes, that's where I've saved things like my Definitions page, Spellwriting 101 (in my practice), and a page about my Common Tools.
I will admit that I skipped the year outline, mostly because the passing of the year means near nothing in my craft. I don't celebrate any particular "magical holidays", I don't work by the moon cycle, I'm definitely not Wiccan and thus don't celebrate the Wheel of the Year, seasons just mean whether or not I have to wear a coat, and I don't care about matching particular workings to days of the week. I'm starting to think I'm just a deeply boring person, upon reflection.
Then we get to the Work Spaces / Altars page, and oh boy! I don't actually do...workings at my altars, so they're probably better described as shrines. I have my Primary Work Space (my wooden desk, the metal microwave stand I've stolen from somewhere, and the tiny red bookshelf under the microwave stand) that is an absolute MESS at every given point that holds whatever the fuck I'm working on, regardless of what project it is. I have a Thoughtform & Spirit Shelf (which is actually a partial shelf) in my big red bookshelf that holds the anchors for my thoughtforms but also my PokeFamiliar. I have five altars around my room that are currently holding seven deities, a candle for an eighth deity, the Lokifam, three spirits, the Unknown Benefactor, the symbol of an animal spirit I want to reach out to at some point this year, and Jasper's Casper (an adorable little ghost that my coworker and her daughter crocheted for me to celebrate the first anniversary of me working at the library).
Shit's a bit cramped in here!
And today, I'm writing about my Personal Practices that have made it into my craft. I'm actually working on this now, but I paused to write up this summary. It's pretty neat to think about all the stuff I've done that I still do.
Results: My hand hurts and my head is throbbing, but c'est la vie. This is a really fun challenge, and I hope it goes all the way through 2024, unlike when I tried to do the 2023 challenge and the host of that one vanished into the aether.

How to Make the Perfect Roasted Squash
Preheat oven to 400° F
Wash & cut squash lengthwise, take out seeds and guts of the squash (you can do this by vigorously scraping the little cavity with a spoon).
Add 1 to 1 ½ teaspoons of of olive oil in the cavity area of the squash, along with salt. Then rub into the squash, this is also a great time to place your intention(s) into it. Then add any other seasonings that you wish.
Place squash on baking sheet flesh side down, pour enough water to cover the bottom of the entire baking sheet.
Bake for 45-50 minutes and that's it!
Magickal Correspondence of Squash
These are the two types of squash that I find are most commonly used.
Butter Squash: Abundance, Creativity, Fertility, Vitality,
Acorn Squash: This squash's name came from the acorn, as it has a similar shape to an acorn. So I am using the same correspondences for butternut squash for acorn squash, just adding the correspondences of acorns to it.
- Acorn Correspondences: Good Fortune, Luck, Personal Power, Prosperity, Protection, Wisdom

Hi there Bree!
I saw your shut the f up spell and was wondering if you didn't mind explaining why you'd use those ingredients. You see, those herbs are not native to my area so I can't implement them in my spell.
I appreciate any help!
Couldn't find the STFU spell in my blog archive. Maybe you meant STFU Powder? In which case, I've got answers!
When I'm putting a powder recipe together, I usually have a correspondence list and my personal herb stocks at hand. That particular one was an early recipe that I made with herbs I had on hand from previous visits to occult shops.
In this case, the thought process went like so:
Slippery Elm - halt gossip / diarrhea of the mouth
Deerstongue - improve communication
Nettle - repel negativity and petty gossip
Sassafras - ward off disruption and evil influence
Bloodroot - promote harmony, strengthen the blend
I only forage a small portion of the plants I use in my craft because, like you, I only have access to what's available in my biome. And unless I'm going to go traipsing into the woods with clippers and a shovel, I'm not likely to find things like deerstongue and bloodroot.
So what's a witch to do? Online shopping!
There are a number of vendors who sell quality herbs, spices, and botanicals in bulk. Super helpful if you can't find certain plants growing wild in your area, don't have the space to dry and prepare them yourself, or can't get to an occult shop that might stock them. I have had good experiences with products from the following:
Starwest Botanicals
Mountain Rose Herbs
Bulk Apothecary
Penn Herbs
Hope this helps!

Seasonal Ayurvedic Treatments: Adapting to Dubai's Climate
Tumblr media
Being a bustling metropolis with rich cultures and rapid growth brings in, by itself, its own unique climate challenge for Dubai. In this respect, the city either way stands in dire need of flexibility related to health and well-being from summer heat to mild winters and easy transitional seasons. Ayurveda is the ancient Indian science of life, and these holistic remedies have been inculcated according to the changing seasons.
Cycling our energies and practices with assistance from an Ayurvedic hospital in Dubai will bring balance and keep things moving, maintaining well-balanced adjustments with seasonal variations. The following blog explores 'Seasonal Ayurvedic Treatments: Adapting to Dubai's Climate' in a more meaningful way to adapt Ayurvedic remedies for Dubai's environment so that one can stay hale and hearty throughout the year.
Knowing about the climate of Dubai for Ayurvedic practices
The weather of Dubai is characterized by very hot summers, which often reach beyond 40°C or 104°F, with the warmer ones in winter, when it becomes no less hot. Nevertheless, short spring and autumn can make their fast changes in humidity and temperature felt on one's health. The milder winter months bring an imbalance in Vata, causing dry skin and joint problems, while the most strong summer heat may further cause dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other imbalances in Pitta.
The Art of Seasonal Adaptation in Ayurveda
Ayurveda medicine is very attached to the cycles of nature. In this old science, Vata corresponds to fall, Pitta corresponds to summer, and Kapha corresponds to spring; these are the three ruling periods of the year. There are certain qualities in every season and specific effects on the doshas  in the human organism. Applying specific dietary, lifestyle, and therapeutic habits to our awareness of these factors may help us retain balance and health.
Pitta Dosha Hydrating and Soothing
Dietary Modifications
Dubai summers are dominated by the heat and intensity of the Pitta dosha. According to Ayurveda, a diet that cools, moisturizes, and calms helps in balancing the excess of Pitta. Add to your diet foods like melons, cucumbers, leafy greens, and coconut water. It is always better to avoid sour, oily, and spicy meals since they can irritate the superheating of Pitta. Go in for light meals that are easily digestible. The use of herbs like fennel, mint, and coriander may be quite effective as they have a cooling effect.
Lifestyle Habits
You should drink a minimum of eight glasses of water throughout the whole day you have. Some herbs that will help you in keeping your body cool are peppermint, chamomile, and aloe vera juice. Dressing up in loose light-colored clothes with breathing effects like linen and loose cotton can be an effective way of keeping cool. Too much direct sunlight should be avoided, but cooling activities, such as yoga or swimming, are good. Massaging with natural, cooling oils like coconut or sunflower oil according to your skin frequently will help you nourish and balance the Pitta.
Ayurveda Medicines
Treatments that pacify pita are of utmost importance during summer. One of those treatments is Shirodhara, which reduces tension and calms the mind. Some warmed oil is only gently applied to the forehead in this treatment. Abhyanga, a full body massage with oil, will help to soothe and even cool down the body. A herbal face, together with ingredients like rose water and sandalwood, may have an even greater cooling effect on the heat.
Autumn: Vata Dosha Balancing and Nourishing Dietary Adjustments
Vata is straightforwardly associated with rainfall and is characterized by movement, cold, and dryness. Think about healthy and heavy meals to bring balance to Vata. Warm, well-cooked foods full of good fats, such as ghee and sesame oil, are good. Include whole grains, root vegetables, and warming spices in your diet, such as cloves, cinnamon, and ginger. Shun cold, raw foods; limit alcohol and caffeine.
Lifestyle Habits
Wear scarves and caps to keep warm and protected from the cold autumn winds. Routine works to Keep the generally imbalanced energies of Vata steady and calm. The body and mind basics work better through breathing meditation and easy yoga practices. Get enough rest and avoid overworking.
Ayurveda Remedies
In the fall, Ayurvedic treatment should focus on nourishing and centering the body. Abhyanga with warm sesame oil is especially helpful for Vata imbalances. Nasya can soothe dryness and lubricate the passages. The skin may be further soothed by steam treatments and warm baths with herbs added to the water for extra comfort and hydration.
Warming and Stimulating the Kapha Dosha Throughout Winter

Dietary Modifications
Although winters in Dubai are relatively mild compared with most other places, they still have the potential to create Kapha imbalances. On the other hand, Kapha likes warming, light, and invigorating food. Favor foods that have tastes that are hot, bitter, and astringent. Add to your diet such things as turmeric, ginger, and garlic. Avoid heavy, greasy, and sweet meals, for they will increase Kapha.
Lifestyle Habits
To offset lethargy, which Kapha is likely to give, keep active. Exercise in a daily routine will help keep the energy balanced. All the activities you can do to improve your lifestyle include jogging, expansive yoga, brisk walking, etc. However, do not be excessively wet in your junction; ensure good ventilation, and dress up in warm attire to off-set cold and damp. Dry brushing, Ujjayi might help in improving circulation and really clearing out the excess Kapha in your body.
Ayurveda Medicines
Treatments that are mainly aimed at balancing the Kapha energy mostly concentrate on stirring and energizing the body. A dry powder massage, called Udwarthanam, may help stimulate blood circulation and minimize excess Kapha. Herbal steam immersion might also prove to be beneficial in removing impurities and opening up the pores. Regular oil massages using oils like sesame or mustard oil, which have a heating effect, may also help in the balancing of Kapha during the cold winter months.
Body Purification and Renewal During Spring

Dietary Changes
Spring is an excellent time of the year to clean the body from pooled toxins, as, basically, it is a time of renewal and cleansing. Increase fresh, light, and cleansing foods. Bob up on green vegetables; eat plenty of green vegetables, sprouts, and fruits that are in season. Bitter and astringent tastes have a cleansing action on the body.
Traditions of Lifestyle
Excellent purification methods that are most effective in the spring season are fasting or detox dieting. Some of the exercises that are stimulating and help detoxify are dancing, hiking, and aerobic training. Practices of pranayama and breathing exercises may perhaps help build up energy and the clearing of the respiratory system.
Ayurveda Medicines
Springtime Ayurvedic therapy builds and the main goal should include detoxification and renewal. It can be supplemented by an intensive detoxification treatment called panchakarma to get rid of these toxins and help in the rebalancing process. Massage therapies directed toward the lymph nodes and herbal steam will further stimulate the body's ability for self-cleansing. Integrate these with other restorative therapies like Shirodhara and Abhyanga to rejuvenate the body and mind.
Ayurvedic Circle, Dubai
Bringing the knowledge of Ayurvedic principles to Dubai's environment requires one to understand the special challenges each season brings and make deliberate changes in nutrition, lifestyle, and therapies. By coming into synchrony with the cycles of nature, we may keep our balance and attain health throughout the year. Ayurveda gives a timeless, adaptable way to health—whether you use it to cool your body in the sweltering summer heat, anchor and nourish in the fall, or warm and invigorate in the winter.
Bring some elegance and vigor into dealing with Dubai's environment by incorporating these Ayurvedic practices along with treatments like Panchakarma in Dubai into your everyday routine to make sure you're well-balanced, healthy, and full of energy throughout the year.

What is Practical Magick?
Tumblr media
Practical magick, often spelled "magic" or "magick" depending on personal preference, is a spiritual practice that focuses on the application of magickal techniques and principles to achieve certain desired outcomes or goals. Unlike some forms of ceremonial magick or other ritualistic practices, practical magick tends to emphasize simplicity, accessibility, and results-oriented approaches. It can be as part of every day life and requires little time or money.  The most important element of successful practical magick is the intent of the person performing it.
Magickal practices often aim to tap into unseen forces and to influence events and consciousness, similar to how those who believe in Law of Attraction use visualization and affirmations to manifest desired outcomes in their lives. This can be done through ceremonies, like casting a circle with a coven; it can be done through a ritual like setting up an altar and doing spell work, or it can be woven into everyday life, through practical magick.
Practical magick is a flexible and diverse spiritual practice that allows individuals to work on self-improvement, achieve specific goals, or address practical concerns in their lives through the application of magickal techniques. Many different groups including  neo-pagans, wiccans and other natured-based belief systems use some form of practical magick as part of their daily spiritual practice.  This could look like stirring a pot of soup  a certain way, while meditating on a peaceful dinner with your family. Or it could be carrying a certain crystal with you, to protect against as you travel. There are endless possibilities for adding some practical magick into your everyday life.
MAGICK OR MAGIC?
You may notice that the term Magick and Magic are used interchangeably when referring to witchcraft and the occult and you may be wondering what’s the difference? One theory of why the ‘k’ was added  is  attributed to the occultist and ceremonial magician Aleister Crowley, who helped to popularize occultism and alternative spiritual practices in the 20th century.  Crowly wanted to differentiate illusionary magic (think of a white rabbit being pulled out of a hat) and mystical magick that is associated with spellwork, spirits and the supernatural. However, like many aspects of neo paganism and modern witchcraft, this isn’t a universally accepted truth. As such, some authors opt to omit the ‘k’ from and go with the traditional use of Magic.
EASY WAYS TO ADD PRACTICAL MAGICK TO THE EVERYDAY
Practical magick is meant to be integrated into everyday life. It doesn't require elaborate rituals or complex ceremonies, making it accessible to people with busy schedules. Here are some easy and inexpensive ways to imbue a little magick into your everyday.
Morning Affirmations: Start your day with positive affirmations, focusing on your goals and intentions.
Candle Magic: Light a colored candle that corresponds to your intention or desire. As it burns, visualize your goal manifesting.
Crystal Charging: Carry a small crystal with you that aligns with your intention. Hold it and infuse it with your desires regularly.
Herb Magic: Use herbs or spices in your cooking that are associated with your goals. Focus on your intention as you prepare and eat your meal.
Moon Magick: Spend a few minutes each night looking at the moon. Focus on your desires and imagine them being drawn towards you with the moon's energy. Read more about the different phases of the moon and how they correspond to attracting and letting go.
Visualization: Before sleep or during meditation, visualize your goals as if they have already been achieved. Feel the emotions associated with your success.
Salt Cleansing: Sprinkle a bit of salt around your home or workspace to clear negative energy. Sweep it up after a few minutes, symbolizing the removal of obstacles.
Charging Water: Place a glass of water in the moonlight or sunlight and set an intention for it to carry that energy. Drink it the next day to absorb its magickal properties.
Gratitude Journaling: Keep a daily journal where you write down things you're grateful for. This positive energy can attract more of what you desire into your life.
INTENTION AND FOCUS
Practical magick is meant to be integrated into everyday life. It doesn't require elaborate rituals or complex ceremonies, making it accessible to people with busy schedules.  Practical magick can be as simple or as complicated as a person wants to make it. Some folks opt to align their magickal intentions with the lunar phases, astrology and planetary activity. Others focus on the Wheel of the Year and different seasons and sabbats. The most important aspect of practical magick is the intent and focus of the individual.  Essentially you can have a very witchy aesthetic happening, but if you are not really focusing on what you want to achieve through the use of magick, it likely won’t be very effective.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR PRACTICAL MAGICK
Many practitioners of practical magick emphasize ethical principles such as the Wiccan Rede "An' it harm none, do what ye will" or the Law of Threefold Return, which suggests that the energy you put out into the world will return to you threefold.
Practical magick is a results-oriented spiritual practice that seeks to manifest desires through the application of magickal techniques. It can be seamlessly integrated into everyday life and doesn't require elaborate rituals or ceremonies. This flexible practice is embraced by various spiritual groups, such as neo-pagans and Wiccans, and offers countless ways to infuse a touch of magick into daily routines. From morning affirmations to crystal charging and moon gazing, practical magick empowers individuals to work on self-improvement and achieve their goals through focused intent and positive energy. Ethical considerations often guide practitioners, emphasizing the importance of doing no harm and understanding the principle of energy return. Ultimately, the effectiveness of practical magick hinges on individual intent and focus.

Note
(I just read your intro and followed immediately. I too have an interest in D&D and fiction writing.)
But, per your comment, this ask is about Plants and Magic. You mentioned that you had some suggestions about Herbalism and/or other reference materials after my ask on a-witch-named-crow's blog, and I would love to hear them.
I recently turned a rather critical eye to the sources that I originally learned magic from, namely books and my mother, who was very into Native American Shamanic things. I believe we have some ancestry and family history, but we are not culturally involved or members of a tribe. I decided it really wasn't right for me to continue many of the beliefs and practices I had learned because what I knew was likely from closed practices, and frankly I had no right to them.
But I felt that kind of left me in a bit of a lurch where learning more about plants was concerned. I studied Botany in college, and even back then I knew it was only part of the story, really. I love using what I grow for tea and food, and I am totally getting into foraging, so -crow's suggestions there are on point. What -crow said about working with the spirits of plants seems kind of the way I want to go. I am a Service Member, so I cannot take their latter suggestions. (constantly subject to the possibility of urinalysis when you are the property of the government).
I would love to know what you have to add!
So, most of my training is in medicinal herbalism, as a lot of the correspondences you'll find in older texts are actually code to describe the medicinal functions of certain herbs (like St. John's Wort being associated with Leo and the Sun, referring to its heating properties when applied topically (it causes sun sensitivity) and the joy that returns from taking it internally). But if you mostly want to get into herbs for your own purposes, I have some books to recommend.
First up, get a Peterson's Field Guide to Medicinal Plants & Herbs for your bioregion. I have one for the western US, but there are others. It will make all the rest a helluva lot easier if you're going to wildcraft (forage) your herbs.
Next, get a copy of The Herbal Medicine Maker's Handbook by James Green. It is THE book for creating your own tinctures, salves, etc. I never had success with making salves (they would mold) until I followed his instructions.
These two are required reading, from my perspective. But hey, you might want to know more about plants that are readily available in your local grocery, perhaps! For that, check out:
Kitchen Medicine by Julie Bruton-Seal, Matthew Seal Traditional Foods Are Your Best Medicine by Ronald F. Schmid
But I take conventional medication, how do I know what will interact? For that, check out Delmar's Integrative Herb Guide for Nurses by Martha Libster. Mine isn't the most up-to-date, but you might be able to find useful info in there nonetheless, especially if you do your homework and know what category of medicine any newer medication falls into.
Part of my training was with the East West School of Planetary Herbology, which included Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic techniques that I still use, like tongue diagnosis and pulse diagnosis. Understanding the theory and structure around TCM opens up a lot more resources, and the best book I've found for that purpose is The Web That Has No Weaver by Ted Kaptchuk.
A history and theory-based look at Western herbalism that really changed the way I viewed herbal medicine is The Herbal Lore of Wise Women & Wortcunners by Wolf D. Storl, which I highly recommend. I was having a hard time reading anything when I got it, but plowed right through anyway.
Lessee, honorable mentions go to Medicinal Plants of the Pacific West by Michael Moore (I believe there are a few other bioregions in that series), 300 Herbs by Matthew Alfs (especially useful if you already understand TCM and Ayurvedic theory), and my absolute favorite (which is sadly out of print) the two-volume set of The Energetics of Western Herbs by Peter Holmes. Just the most comprehensive guide to European and American herbs out there, explained very clearly, using both Western and TCM theories. There's a companion two-volume set by the same author called Jade Remedies that covers Chinese herbs exclusively, but is also out of print.
Most of these can be found on free sites like libgen or Z-lib, except for the last two, which as I said are out of print. These are just the books I kept, you understand. This is a tiny fraction of my original library, the ones that I considered too essential or rare to sell.
On the more spiritual side of plants, I'd recommend The Secret Teachings of Plants by Stephen Buhner. And if you're looking to grow herbs, especially woody herbs, I cannot recommend The Medicinal Forest Garden Handbook by Anne Stobart enough! Permaculture + herbalism? Yes please!
I wrote a few blog articles on the subject looooong ago, when I was trying to make a go of being a professional herbalist but I didn't yet have the confidence to see people. I didn't want to promise success when I was still so uncertain about my abilities. So I decided to catalogue every western herb I could and cross-reference their entries with the books I had at the time (which conveniently is also a listing of all the books I used to have, more or less).
This is the glossary, and this is the cross-referenced list, while this folder contains the few articles I completed. There's also this spreadsheet, which has links to the PubMed entries for each herb (if available) and the wikipedia entry for each herb (if available). It was a huge, obsessive undertaking at the time, and I'm still tempted by the organizational possibilities... The original plan was to have a blog/book that condensed dozens of books worth of information, including conventional science and traditional wisdom, with growing patterns/techniques, preparation methods, etc., etc.
I hope this helps and wasn't too overwhelming! I honestly held back a lot (I could talk about the East West program, for instance), so let me know if you want to hear more about any particular topic!
Best of luck, and happy herb hunting!
PS: If you do want to go mushroom hunting, the best book ever for the purpose is All That the Rain Promises and More by David Arora. Seriously, such a gem.
PPS: If you're a service member, you may want to do a bit of research on herbs that mimic the presence of illicit substances on drug tests. California poppy is a great choice for headaches, but if you're getting urine tests, it will show up as an opiate, despite being a mostly unrelated species.

The Siren and The Fairy - Robin x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: A fairy and a siren meet nightly at their rendezvous despite the pleas of friends from both sides.
A/N: So this is me a first-time poster but an avid reader here on Tumblr, anywho this is an obvious AU for Hawkins's fav babysitter club turned into mystical creatures! also let me know what you liked and what I can do better in the future! I might make this a mini-series where I make the Hawkin's babysitter club creatures but not corresponding ya know?
Warnings: Smut, so if you're under 18 ill have vecna steal your knee caps! Fingering(F receiving) Reader x siren!Robin, siren lore spoken about, Forbinen love, gendered language, I think that's it
Word Count: 1.2k
Night, my favorite time of day. When the stars come out and all the humans are asleep, I am able to sneak away to the sea in order to see my lover Robin.
“Are you going to see that Siren again?”  Nancy asks just as I’m about to leave the forest.
“No, what would make you think I would go see a siren?” I say laughing nervously while also trying not to act suspicious however failing horribly.
“I’ve followed you once or twice, I see the love you have for her but you know how dangerous they are, they lure you in with their voices, and besides there are humans who are always coming into dock at this time of night!” she yells slightly, my eyes widen as I place my hand over her mouth to keep her from waking the others or anyone who may have prying ears.
“She isn’t, she is kind and caring and she loves me.” I say narrowing my eyes at her, “I’m a grown woman Nance, I can protect myself.”
“I just worry about you. Just be back before the humans wake at sunrise.”
“I promise to be back before then.” I give her one more smile before flying out of the forest towards the bay. The smell of the sea air let me know I am close to the bay and closer to Robin, my sweet Robin. Such a sweetheart. We first met a year ago on a night quite like this. I was out by the sea, enjoying the air when I heard a splash and a pained yelp.
I went over to see what creature had been hurt when I saw a siren’s tail trapped in a fisherman’s net and a rather large gash on her chest. My eyes trailed up to be met with the most beautiful pair of eyes I had ever gazed upon.
“Let me help you,” I say leaning down to cut him free.
“No, I don't take help from humans,” she said slightly moving away from me.
“Well that makes two of us, I’m not a human either, I’m a fairy. You cant tell because I am currently in my human form.” I say taking a knife from my bag and cutting the ropes, “There, now I have something for that gash on your chest, do you think you could change into your human form and lean against the rock?”
“I can’t, we can’t change if we are severely injured.” she says wincing while scooting back against the rock, “Can I know the name of the Fairy who saved me?”
“My name is Y/n and what might your name be siren?” I ask while grabbing the herbs from my bag, “This will sting a bit.”
“My name is Robin, ah that hurts! What is that?” she says gripping my arm.
“I told you it would, they are herbs from the forest, they have magical healing properties, just watch,” I say gently as I pull my hand away and watch as the large gash on her chest heals, it looks as if there was never a gash there, to begin with.
“You are incredible,” she says in awe.
“You are too, um, you aren't going to seduce me and then kill me right?” I say blushing since she still has a hold of my wrist.
“No, we don't do that with creatures only humans. Besides you saved my life, how could I do that to you? However the seducing could be arranged if you would like for me to give you a reward for saving me” she says smiling, causing me to blush.
From that moment on Robin and I would meet at that same spot by the sea in our human forms and just talk. Soon we began seeing each other not as friends but as lovers.
I pull myself out of my thoughts when the sound of the sea hits my ears. I fly down changing into my human form, my bare feet hit the soft ground, toes curling into the sand of the bay. I continue to the very rock where we met for the first time. I sit down with one knee crossed under my leg laying in the water. I see movement in the water and soon a figure jumps from the water, landing next to me on the rock is Robin in her human form.
I turn my head slightly towards her and smile. Her presence always makes my heart flutter. She places her hand on my cheek and brings my face closer to hers. Our lips meet and mold together, almost as if they were puzzle pieces. I enjoy the salty way her lips taste while we kiss, I slide my tongue into her mouth and glide it over her tongue. We pull away from each other much to my distaste.
“Oh, how I’ve missed you, my love,” she says as she grabs my hand and leads me back towards the meadow on the edge of the forest.
“But you just saw me last night robin,” I kiss her again, “How much time do we have until you have to go back into the water?”
“Endless, as long as I have water from the Sea, I can stay out as long as I please. The necklace you made me allows me to have endless time now.” her lips attack mine hungrily as we both lay down. Her hands slide up my dress, gliding across the skin of my stomach. Her hands find my breasts as she begins to kneed them. A moan escapes my mouth as she begins their way to my down to my neck, marking me as her.
My hands find their way to her pants pulling them down. She pulls away from my neck allowing me to free myself from my dress. She aligns her fingers with my dripping pussy and gently thrusts in, I moan out of pleasure pulling her face to mine once again interlocking our lips. She begins to hook her fingers inside me hitting the sweet spot, her thumb rapidly rubbing against my nub.
“I love you so much” she mumbles against my lips as she pushes faster.
“I love you too” I moan out, as my hands grip the grass surrounding me.
Soon her thrusts become shorter and faster and I can feel a knot begin to form in my stomach.
“Alexaundra, faster, go faster” I moan out as I arch my back, soon feeling my release, I lay back down as we finish. She pulls out of me and sticks her glistening fingers in her mouth.
“That is literally the hottest thing you have ever done,” I say biting my lip and stopping myself from moaning.
We lay there, arms wrapped around one another, looking at the stars above us.
“Y/n my love, I want to ask you something,” she asks as she turns to face me.
“What is it my love,” I look at her, her face is wet from sweat, or is it from the sea, her beautiful face is enticing.
“Ever since the day we met, I have felt drawn to you. I love you, what I am saying is, Y/n, will you marry me” She says pulling out a beautiful ring with a jewel the same color as the sea.
“Yes, Robin, I’ll marry you. I love you so much.”
We stay laying in each other’s arms until the sun began to peek out from the horizon. We got dressed once more and went our separate ways.
One being a creature of the forest, the other a creature of the sea, these two shouldn’t go together but when love is involved, anything is possible

A Year and a Day UPDATED - 206 prompts - A Quest to discover my individual Witchcraft
*UPDATED - original post was 196 prompts
After a lifetime of subtle magic and a year of failing to step into my power, I wrote this personalized curriculum to learn my own individual Witchcraft over 366 days. There are 206 points on the list. Some will take a bit of time and work. Others require more simple answers.
I used the words "personalized" and "individual" for a reason. Witchcraft is very personal. We are all individuals and nothing we do looks exactly the same. Some of the points may not suit you. Adjust or omit them.
I will be kicking this off with a devotional river bath on June 1st.
Follow me on Instagram if you'd to tag along. Inspired by https://sammmango.tumblr.com/post/175974393404/a-whopping-list-of-grimoire-prompts-and-ideas

Dollarweed Chips- A Money Spell
Tumblr media
This here is Hydrocotyle spp, commonly called dollarweed, pennywort, and marsh penny. It's considered a weed to most, and likes wet soil. Because Florida is a very marshy place, it's everywhere here!
With its silver-dollar shape and the large amounts found quickly spreading across any one area, this edible weed represents material wealth, prosperity, luck, and abundance.
I decided to harvest some and make them into baked chips for a money spell!
---------------------------------------------------
WHAT YOU NEED:
- any cooking oil, I used olive oil.
- salt
- other seasoning/herbs. You can use other herbs that match the correspondence of the plant and intent. However, I find that these are pretty powerful little guys on their own, and so I season them by preference instead of correspondence. For this to work it's important that you actually ENJOY these, just as you'll relish and enjoy the comfort of your prosperity and wealth. So pick flavors you like! On their own, they have a slightly peppery taste and the bigger, older leaves can have a bitter aftertaste. So I made mine with teriyaki sauce and sugar 😍
- dollarweeds.
IDENTIFICATION:
Tumblr media
These are often confused for Creeping Charlie (Glechoma hederacea) and Dichondra. Here's a site that points out the differences. Be absolutely sure of the plant you have, and that it wasn't foraged in areas that are sprayed with pesticides. In Florida, you may find many in golf courses, do not eat these.
Tumblr media
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Heat your oven to 275°F
2. Wash your dollarweeds well, and clip off the stem as close to the leaf as you can. Pat them semi dry with a cloth or paper towel, doesn't have to be all the way dry, but not dripping.
3. In a bowl, toss your dollarweeds with some of the oil. Just enough to get them all nicely covered.
4. If you don't have a nonstick baking pan, put some oil on that too.
4. After the oil, they tend to stick to each other. Separate them and place each one on the baking pan, making sure that they aren't overlapping. Visualize that each one you place down is an enchanted coin, and with each one placed the more your wallet/bank account fills. You can visualize each one as a $20 bill you find on the ground, seeing yourself picking it up and letting yourself feel the excitement of having found it.
5. Sprinkle it with salt and your other herbs. I highly recommend something sweet, just, whatever you pick I would add some sugar on top!
6. Bake for 5 minutes, check them to make sure they're going well, then they'll usually need about 2 minutes more. They're done when they're crispy!
Tumblr media
Enjoy! As you eat them, imagine yourself enjoying the freedom, stability, and pleasures that come with more wealth- what are you gonna buy with the $20s you found? Visualize it, feel it, believe it, and let the wealth flow in! 😊💰💵🌿
