With a wet creak, the front door was wrenched open. Turning, Izjik saw that standing in the doorway, slightly out of breath from forcing the thing open, was the most beautiful elf she’d ever been blessed to lay eyes upon. To be fair, it wasn’t as if Izjik had seen too many elves in her time. However, she could immediately tell that this one was stunning.

The woman’s hair was that sort of glassy black you could almost see your own reflection in, and her face would’ve put a midwinter’s sunrise to shame. Even her telltale pointed ears, which Izjik usually thought looked kind of like a sunfish’s fins, seemed enchanting and ethereal when complemented by this vision’s moonlight gaze. Her tits were a perfect ten.

“Can I help you?” the beauty asked, arching one immaculate brow in confusion.

“Wow, uh… I’mmmm— I’m Izjik.” Her voice shot up almost a full octave only to be pulled down at the last second into what she contrived to be a seductive purr.

“Ooookay, well, hello, Izjik,” the woman hesitated. Spirits, her voice could’ve raised the dead! In a good way!

“I’m Dr. Evanna Snowraven. Mnakat has told me you have some matters you’re interested in learning a bit more about?”

Izjik heroically refrained from answering the question in any way that could’ve been construed as inappropriate.

“Uh, yeah,” the halawemavar responded instead, “about that. It would probably be best if we talked off the street.”

“Ah, one of those queries,” Dr. Snowraven chuckled.

The woman gave a grim half-smile. Izjik got the feeling she wasn’t the first Fabaeilite who’d come to the city’s one and only academic with some peculiar questions.

“Well, come in,” Dr. Snowraven gestured.

From the street, Mnakat gave a little cough.

“Yeah, I’m just gonna go…” He winced, already slinking off into the night.

Izjik didn’t blame him. No matter how attractive they were, halawemavira and sciency people didn’t mix. Something about their people’s lack of a written language always clouded the air with that extra, judgmental weight.

Dr. Snowraven was silent as she led Izjik down a damp and winding staircase. As the halawemavar followed attentively behind, she wondered how old the elf was. Elves could live to like, five hundred years old, right? She doubted they’d look five hundred. They’d be all boney and shit. But if so, how would that work?

Izjik followed that train of thought all the way into the building’s basement. Looking around, it was no pristine study that greeted her, and nothing even close to the wonder that had been her short-lived jaunt into Master Chitlal’s mage tower.

I promise she has game guys. Ok, maybe not, but the butch swag is there.

I recently read and finished Far Sector! I really like Jo, she's so fun. I loved how that comic blended her being very competent and very out of her depth, and the Blade Runner vibes of the whole thing were immaculate. Really really good stuff, I like her a lot.

I intend to get into Martian Manhunter sometime! J'onn seems like the kind of character I'll really like, got a certain vibe I can definitely latch on to. Unfortunately I lost the reading list a mutual gave me because I got blocked so 💔 but I will find another one I am sure!

I picked up some of the issues of Zatanna: Bring the House Down and I'm interested in reading more of her! She seems really fun and cute, and her design is very cool to me also. Kind of want to edit her sometime so I might read more when I get on that 🤔🤔

Beatriz looks really fun, I like her vibe. Seems She-Hulk esque without the Hulk and I dig that, but that's my surface level reading of her. I read one random issue of JLI and her and Tora were cute in it so I like the yuri of it all.

I'm also attached to Matter Eating Lad, who I know is probably just a gimmick character, but as someone with pica I unironically am kind of into it. His autistic swag. Maybe he's just like me.

Ooo, who else. I like the vibe of Jay Garrick and his hat. Very Kirby-esque, and from what little I've seen of the Golden Age Flash comics, he seems very fun and silly. I like the vibe!

Black Canary seems cool, not sure if I'd read her specifically but I'd certainly check out some of her more pivotal appearances I think.

The Hawkpeople seem... complicated, but they also look cool! I like the design and tone of them, it all seems very tragic and romantic and I dig that.

I also read Absolute Batman, which I don't think I'll keep up with, but I did like it. Much like Johnny's moustache maybe it only takes Bruce Wayne being really big for me to like him.

g-witch thoughts! i loved this show, it’s my favorite non-tomino gundam by a mile and while i wish it had gotten the full 50 episode gundam treatment to better pace certain plotlines and flesh some things out, i think it was still satisfying.

spoilers //    and such under the cut.

suletta and miorine get married 🥰 the ending felt like a direct reference to the ending of iron-blooded orphans, with miorine in her suit rolling up at the nice little farm suletta is living at with the rest of their family. two mainline gundams in a row ending on women being married. not that bandai will acknowledge it.

it’s a relatively low-death ending, but miorine and suletta floating in space gave me echoes of fa and kamille, though with an immediate happy ending instead of waiting through zz to see how it went. and it certainly doesn’t have the punch or power of utena’s ending. i think it could have hit those zeta or utena highs with more episodes, but for what it is, it’s simple and sweet.

i warmed up more to the miscellaneous elans as i began to saw them both as a broad comparison point for suletta and eri - el5n unmasking prospera seemed anticlimactic at first, but i think his place as a clone makes that more interesting and it was put into perspective by el4n being who suletta meets in the data storm. and after him barely being a character prior to this, it was amusing to see original elan be like ‘lol anyway later losers, gonna go fuck that jeturk guy.’

the slighter death toll and happier ending also brought me back to utena in some ways, with the elans reminding me in ways of mamiya.

i still wish sophie and norea had gotten some lines from the data storm, though. i liked seeing prospera’s husband and all, but sophie and norea were more interesting so i want some follow up beyond ‘they’re just vibing in the soup~!’

but speaking of nadeem or whatever, wild that kenanji never got any sort of comeuppance for killing him or, like, threatening children and shit. even prospera could not defeat his immaculate tboy swag, good for him. he’s too hot for me to hold it against him.

prospera is a very interesting char clone, and while i think she suffers more in the finale from that rushed feeling than sulemio do, i like the broad strokes. my biggest criticism is the ableist tendency of shows like this to go ‘eh, shaddiq gets years in prison as his punishment, and prospera gets (checks notes) being in a wheelchair’. as though that is a punishment, or that it would hinder her ability to commit further crimes. (her actual reason for not doing so is love of her family, but if i were the council who was about to space laser quiet zero and everyone in it, i’m not sure i’d accept that one as an out.)

but eri being able to connect with her sister reminds me of ple two’s connection to the original elpeo ple swaying her to aeug’s side; and i think we see in char’s ending a similar hesitance about his plan that prospera has, when he revealed he gave amuro the psycho-frame for nu gundam. so i think there’s some gundam history shorthand helping with the shorter episode count, for me.

the tone of the ending prior to the cute mercury family stuff - the ‘well we solved this conflict but let’s be honest it’s gonna last like a decade at most’ - reminds me, again, of iron-blooded orphans... but also turn a gundam, in a way i appreciate. turn a has that same vibe of ‘these evil capitalists are out of the picture, this conflict is resolved, but the ones who remain or who replace them? they are just building more mobile suits for the next time a war comes.’ it’s a happy ending for our heroes, but it’s not a resolution to the class war between earthians and spacians.

for how little time they got on screen, petra and felsi made me smile.

i think it needed more episodes to deal with some of the other conflicts - miorine and her father largely just make up by way of his near-death, for instance - and i could use a couple of one-off episodes with chuchu and her eight union dads or an ojela/nuno comedy hijinks episode. but i still really like it, overall.

I'm so excited for this week not gonna lie. Yes it's mostly because of Metro Boomin Spiderverse mini album bomb which crossed over to the Global Excl US chart. But looking at the new entries and I just realized the scope of what "global music chart excluding America" really like because damn this is a very chaotic week.

It's kinda interesting to see a grime song having its biggest debut as I do think that grime might be the next big thing in Europe around 4 years ago. I do think this song has a good beat, but the lyrics man are just bad. One particular highlight is talking about Central Cee hooking up with a feminist...seriously.

Well I found another penis music-core again and it's due to the chorus which...what's up with the melody here?

20. "Los del Espacio" by LIT killah, Maria Becerra, FMK, Rusherking, Duki, Emilia, Tiago pzk & Big One

Remember that posse cut Te Bote that somehow became a hit in 2018? Well we got another one of those posse cut here with all of these artists. All I can say here is that it's at least more upbeat and fun than Te Bote. Apparently this type of posse cut is a big thing in Argentina alongside BZRP Music Session. I love how it changes genres so that it didn't felt stale. Good stuff.

From what I heard, The Idol is another show about exploitation in the entertainment industry? I mean there's already Oshi no Ko and Perfect Blue that have done this concept better but hey just like the former, we have a pop song to go along with it. Now this is one of the few Abel songs that I actually enjoy. 2000's pop-n-b is a perfect fit for Abel and I want Madonna like this. Oh btw fuck Playboi Carti, he didn't add anything to this song but a nuisance.

51. "Calling" by Metro Boomin, Swae Lee, & Nav ft. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie

Short review for Across the Spiderverse: One of the best animated movies of all time go watch it if you haven't already. Now for the soundtrack though, I would say it's consistent and played it straight. But because of that, there's no standout songs unlike say Sunflowers or What's Up Danger. But Metro is still a great producer and this song is a great example. I love Swae Lee hook, NAV gave his best performance ever, and A Boogie didn't embarrassed himself here. I hope this became a radio hit...but I want this to be bigger.

61. "Annihilate" by Metro Boomin, Swae Lee, Lil Wayne & Offset

When the beat to this song was used in the movie I felt chill and really showed the scope and the eerieness of the Spider Society looked like. I do think that Offset should do more than his basic verse, but Lil Wayne just go off in this song. I don't know why he always turned up in these CBM films' soundtracks but I approve it.

62. "Am I Dreaming" by Metro Boomin, ASAP Rocky & Roisee

The production saved it from being mediocre. That string and the percussion is just immaculate and showed that he can do more than his typical trap rap stuff given the budget. Roisee got too much filter on her and ASAP Rocky just doing decent here.

I think I'm kinda sick of Feid but with this song, I'll give him another chance because I like the groove and the atmosphere of this song.

We got another first here as this is the first Turkish song I am reviewing. And wow this sounds like 2016-17 pop rap stuff complete with the piano, blocky percussion, and strong hook.

So apparently Diablo IV came out recently and seems like video game devs seeing the success of Enemy, are gonna hired musicians to soundtrack their games. Here's one observation of this song, this beat is actually great. But seems like SUGA just cannot ride the beat well.

This song has one of the tightest bass I've ever heard this year so far. Of course beside that this song seems to be influenced by some Arabic element to it by the sandy feel of the production. It's just a good song.

I think I knew that this week is gonna be the most diverse one I've covered when right after a song from French artist that had Arabic influence, I got a punjabi rap song that blew up in Canada.

153. "Self Love" by Metro Boomin & Coi Leray

This is definitely the most underrated song from the Spiderverse album. I love the lowkey pop trap sound juxtaposed with Coi Leray voice which I would describe as if Playboi Carti going pop. And I love this song because the lyrics can be about anything, but the voice clip of Gwen at the end of the song made it seems like it was her song and I love that kind of soundtrack writing.

163. "Tere Vaaste" by Varun Jain, Schin-Jigar, Shadab Faridi & Altamash Faridi

Last time I talked about the soundtrack from this movie it was a ballad. Now we got the upbeat song here...which is still kinda lowkey. But as someone who only watched like bollywood movies from the 80's and 90's, hearing synthetic percussion in this song does threw me off.

190. "All The Way Live" by Metro Boomin, Future & Lil Uzi Vert

I think this is the weakest song on the album which is such a shame. I love it when Future on Metro's production, but he's kinda checked out here. The production does saved it but this is indeed sounded like above average Baby Pluto song.

Tiago Pzk was supposed to be the next big thing in reggaeton scene...and then he just didn't. Anyways this song is too bouncy even for me.
