How do we know that COA was offered her daughter made bona fides and kept princess? When was this?
It was an offer made by Henry alongside Campeggio when he was there before the trial, that her acceptance of the offer meant the trial could be foregone ....
We (Wolsey and Campeggio) are agreed in opinion to test the mind of the Queen, and to persuade her to consent to the separation, and to enter the profession of some religion. For this purpose his Lordship promised me the assistance of himself and all the prelates of the kingdom, and the favor of the King, and that the Queen shall have any honorable conditions which she demands, retain her station as Queen*, and not lose anything except "l'uso della persona del Re," which he (Wolsey) says she has lost for many years; allowing her her dowry, rents, ornaments, and assignments for her support, and many other things; especially that the succession of the kingdom for the present shall be established in her daughter, by the ordinance and consent of all the estates, in case there should never be any legitimate male heir.
....(although, actually I don't exactly remember, that might have just been one stage of the offer...another might have been that her absence from the trial would ensure a result in Henry's favor; as we know she refused to attend after her speech and it did not, so whether or not that was true...Campeggio had a decretal comission to declare the marriage valid or invalid at Blackfriars and didn't, so in some sense they both got played, although Catherine only in hindsight...ironically, she would later vehemently complain about the severe injustice of the delay in any resolution, but she was the one that had interceded for that delay**, demanding the case only be tried in Rome). Even her counsel at the time, before becoming as contumacious as he did (Bishop Fisher), advised her to take this 'deal', as it were. Off the cuff, I don't remember every reference made to it, Chapuys some months later does also mention (very conditional) 'offers' made to her, but the dispatch is frustratingly vague:
Meanwhile the Queen is daily assailed by people making her all manner of offers, if she will only consent to the divorce; but she remains as firm as ever [...]
In 1533 Chapuys reports Catherine as having said she was willing to take the 'offer' made to her by the King's council three years ago, that then she had thought it was a feint to induce her to accept demotion, but she would accept it now. He does not specify what this offer was, I remember I went back to the sources of when Henry's council visited and argued with her and it was not clear then, either, but I always wondered if that was what she was alluding to. If so it was too late at that point; Henry had decided that the issue of any union that contravened divine law was irrevocably illegitimate (although technically, he would not manage to garner Parliamentary assent for this notion until three years later, he only managed it by implication in 1534), and he believed that was what it was.
Often apologia of Catherine's stance in the late 1520s has been, why should she have even considered that inducement, how was it even presented as an 'offer', even if the papacy had annulled the marriage, Mary would be bona fides regardless, etc. It was presented as an offer, inducement, compromise of sorts because in England that was not the legal precedent (ie, an offer made on behalf of her daughter that was not guaranteed otherwise):
"[Henry VIII] now argued she would would be barred by illegitimacy. This contention puzzled continental contemporaries because elsewhere in western Europe those children born to couples who in good faith believed themselves validly married were treated as legitimate. Nevertheless, Henry was right. After a period of some uncertainty, by the late fourteenth century England had opted out of the bona fides principle. As Sir John Baker notes, 'succession problems were usually debated in legal terms and in accordance with the common law canons of inheritance.' A successful challenge to his marriage would thus automatically bastardise Mary and leave Henry no direct heir... [although] Mary could have been legitimated by statute." - JF Hadwin, The Journal of Ecclesiastical History
*One assumes this meant only a ceremonial title of some sort, ie Dowager Queen of England, as her sister-in-law was still referred to as Queen of France.
**Probably not anticipating resolution would not take place for another four years, but...still.
#anon#so...i think the answer has to be that catherine believed she would win#and she was vindicated although this was something of a pyrrhic victory for her own lifetime#and beyond it if we are considering 1536-52#or maybe she was not aware of this precedent which doesn't speak very highly of her advisors#her stans kind of want it both ways in a lot of aspects of the GM which is sort of like...#well either she was ignorant of certain things or knew them and decided to take the gamble#which presents a bit of an either/or with the Genius of the Tudor Court versus Devoted Mother Above All except for them it has to be both#the pragmatic solution would have been to put henry to oath with witnesses that mary would be first in succession after any sons#by subsequent marriage... in exchange for her agreement#to either enter convent (although as the article i quoted argues that wouldn't have really been an entire solution in and of itself) or#to tell charles v not to interfere and let the matter run its course in the courts#that is of course something of a secular perspective but isn't that the win win? if you win then great she's ahead of everyone#if you don't at least there's the chance for the throne#this was basically what did end up happening with the caveat that she was still illegitimate but at that point it had nothing to do w/ coa#more like in spite of her#royal retirement also /= an admission of sin; people seem to have really minimal historic literacy on this subject...#charles v retired to a monastery in 1556.#although traditionally it was for royal widows#(catherine of valois; eleanor of provence; elizabeth woodville...)#there might have been the crux of her moral opposition.#henry insisted she was arthur's widow; catherine insisted she was not

enamored with the bill possessing Ford's body au. If you would feel up to it, do you have more tidbits? :3
I’m happy to see so many people enjoying it!! I have a lot of additional tidbits so I’ll just stick to giving a few for now:
— Dipper finds out Ford is the author a lot earlier, for the obvious reasons of Bill being present in Ford’s body. He doesn’t put the pieces together right away, only because initially, he hates Bill, disappointed that the ‘scientist’ his parents spoke about that he wanted to impress turned out to be nothing like what he had hoped, ignoring and dismissing him instead, even taking a liking to Mabel before him! He has this idealised version of the author in his head, someone who he relates to and finds comfort in, and he doesn’t want to taint that vision by suspecting it may be someone who he hates. He may be a mystery lover but he is still a twelve year old with a grudge.
It’s only after he and Bill start getting along that he brings it up, and Bill doesn’t think to lie. He’s just that surprised Dipper found it. He does lie about not remembering things though to avoid Dipper’s questions about the paranoia and why he hid it — as on the spot kind of thing, and that becomes Dipper’s mystery fixation of the summer.
— Stan and Bill have various nicknames for each other, with Bill’s main one for Stan being ‘Fez’, and Stan’s main one for Bill being ‘Goldie’.
— Speaking of them, when it comes to their relationship, they are genuinely friends after thirty years of living together, but what that friendship entails is where it gets complicated and I don’t think I can summarise here. I’d say it can best be described as two people who have come to understand each other very deeply, and are similar in a thousand ways, but they would rather throw themselves off a cliff than acknowledge or talk about that. There’s also the lingering anger and resentment on Stan’s end, not for taking Ford’s body, he knows Bill doesn’t want to be stuck here either, but for what he did to Ford before that, how he hurt him. He, much to his confusion, does care about Bill, and Bill, much to his own confusion as well, does care about Stan back, but their friendship is built on something awful, and that doesn’t just go away.
— On a sillier note, it was in 1990 that Stan realised Bill was his only friend and that he sort of enjoyed his company, and that truly was a horrifying moment. On the other end Bill finally admits to some degree he might care for Stan in 1994, which happens while both of them are drunk, and Bill likes to claim it didn’t happen. The image below also probably summarises the lighter aspect of their dynamic better than I could word it here:
— Bill has taxidermy as a hobby and actually gives Dipper and Mabel a few lessons in it, creating some displays for the shack. Weirdly good bonding activity.
— Very specific ‘episode’ idea in my mind where Stan and Bill get framed by Faires that Bill angered a thousand years ago for a crime they didn’t commit, and Dipper and Mabel have to figure out how to prove their innocence, finding more about their Grunkles along the way, and also having to beat a fairy in a game of poker.
— Mabel at some point comes to the conclusion her “Grunkle Ford” had a bad breakup that he still hasn’t gotten over and makes it her goal to help him through it. This is part of her summer mission. It comes up frequently. It’s ridiculous I know but what is Gravity Falls without a generous amount of both angst and utter silliness.
I’ll probably leave it at that for now! But if you’d want more or have any specific questions, I shall do my best. I’m still figuring out some stuff too so input will be helpful.

you say you think Veth should divorce, could you expand a bit on that if you don't mind? what do you see as a happy ending for her?
To be fair, "should divorce" is kind of a conditional statement. By which I mean, as it stands now, I more think Veth and Yeza need to have a serious conversation about their relationship and start having some open communication about what they both want, and then take things from there--which could end very happily for them! Or it could, theoretically, end in divorce. So, it really depends on how that hypothetical conversation might go that would determine if I actually think they need to get divorced. Tragically, that is much more nuanced and way less funny than just posting #BrenattosDivorceWatch2k24, so here we are.
As for what I think a happy ending for her would be...it's interesting, because I don't think she has an unhappy ending now. I think she is, largely, happy. I would call her ending an imperfect one, and I don't mean that in a bad way--all of Veth's potential endings were imperfect. That was the nature of her conflict in the later campaign, that no matter what she did she was losing in some aspect or another. If she keeps adventuring, she runs the risk of acting the absentee mother to Luc. If she goes home to her family, she's leaving her friends out in the cold and might not be there to help if they need her. Her story was about making a choice and living with the consequences of that choice, which was very much highlighted by her extra-marital feelings for Caleb.
And I don't mean lust here--Veth lusts a lot, famously for Sunbreaker Olomon, which she justified by saying "50/50 chance my husband's already dead, so" 😂. But I mean feelings for Caleb. And I think you'll find that the vast majority of Veth stans are, if not actively on #BrenattosDivorceWatch2k24, then at least more keyed into the marital issues between Veth and Yeza than your average watcher. Because in C2, Veth had what amounted to a long-term emotional affair with Caleb that pointedly did not resolve, and you largely see the general, non-Veth stan audiences fail to acknowledge or engage with that aspect of their relationship and how that, in turn, effected her relationship with Yeza. In c2e85, Veth first hedges that she "used" to have a crush on Caleb, to which Beau replies, "You know, I kind of got that vibe before, thought there might be that feeling." Then, after c2e97, Sam outright stated Veth was frustrated with Yeza and wasn't sure she was still in love with him at all on Talks. In the early 100s, the Veth playlist dropped and confirmed she had romantic feelings for Caleb. In c2e121, Veth and Caleb have an incredibly emotional one-on-one about guilt, how much they love each other, and how much they'll miss each other when Veth leaves, where Veth tells him, "I will always love you." In c2e126, Veth sees Astrid having a breakdown after talking to Caleb and says, "Well, wouldn't you [have a breakdown] if you wanted to be with this amazing young man, and couldn't be because of circumstances tearing you apart?" and then later that same episode tells Caleb "Nothing is more important than you" (to which my good friend, upon watching with me, immediately said, "Umm???? Veth, don't you have a husband and son???").
Then, in c2e129, Luc dies. And from then on out, Veth is wholly focused on finishing out this mission and finally, permanently returning home to her family. Not that this wasn't her goal before, but it's clear that a choice has been made at this point and she's sticking with it. She's choosing her family, which was really the only choice she could make. And a consequence of this decision is that those extra-marital feelings she harbored are never discussed, never confessed to anyone (and I don't mean to Caleb here, I mean, like, to a friend), and fundamentally never resolved.
I said this before somewhere, but I don't think it was a bad choice to avoid finding resolution to this sort of thing in the campaign. It's a bit of a sensitive, awkward topic to noodle around with in your TTRPG. But I do think that lack of resolution to either Veth's frustration with Yeza's easy acceptance of whatever she does or her extra-marital feelings in general led Veth to a place of wanting. Which was always what her story was about to begin with, so there's an interesting symmetry to starting and ending with her wanting something. It was easy to name what she wanted at the start of the campaign--her body back, her life back--and much more difficult to face the idea that you may not be completely satisfied with having all that returned to you, that there's still other things to want.
Though, I actually think the Wildemount Wildlings helped her strike a great balance between the things that she wanted, adventuring and homesteading, just that it was an impermanent solution. Because she's not going to willingly resolve any issues she has with Yeza (nor Yeza with her) because Veth is a terrible communicator who will never outright tell Yeza if she's feeling this way, and Yeza is too passive to really push her into talking, so they just dance around their issues, pretending not to see them while the issues just fester and get worse. That's why I'm a #BrenattosDivorce Truther. Because i HATE indecision and dawdling and staying in a situation where you're not completely happy when it does a disservice to yourself AND your partner and THIS is why I am always the first person in the group chat to say "BREAK UP WITH HIM."
So, yeah, personally? I'd just want that potential for conflict that exists between Veth and Yeza to come to some sort of head. That's my happy ending, vague as it is. But that's far from the only way she might get resolution. Or she might get no resolution, which is as imperfect an ending as any of her options, and I'm okay with that too.
#i hope this made sense and wasn't just me vomiting veth lore at the page far too many paragraphs#asks#anon#veth brenatto#BrenattosDivorceWatch2k24

Long post ahead 😥
So I started to watch “welcome to demon school! Iruma kun!” And it’s really good and funny, and even if it’s has its own actions and interests plot! Lots of the plot happens in the school! Because, the school is in the title of work.
While in my hero academia it’s less academia and more “I forget the title of my own manga so I’m bullshitting stuff up at this point.” And “gore for the sake of gore and shock value”
When I first started MHA I expected to see more academia in the manga considering the title, and more school and slice of life chapters. But now it’s a shitty mess that I don’t know how to describe it, izuku been more in an hospital bed than there was shown good moments between class 1a.
Welcome to demon school, Iruma kun! Kinda shows what’s could happened, Iruma is adored by his classmates because he kind, and the manga and anime express that adoration in lots of ways and I like it.
Both Iruma and izuku are similar in lots of aspects and kindness is one of them. But I also want to point out how different their authors treat them;
Hori and Nishi obviously treat them differently in their writings and it’s showing on how they prototype their main characters, Iruma is adored; Nishi loves her main character so much, she loves Iruma and she passionately write his story. He drawn beautifully and with care, shining like a diamond everywhere he goes.
Hori hates izuku, he dislike him so much he willing to torture him and go to extreme lengths with it. The class while I do think likes him they don’t adore him, there aren’t moments of adoration between izuku and the class (never mind the fact that there almost no moments of the class bonding with izuku)
Now, Hori loves Bakugou. He loves the brat so much, and you can see it with how he drawn and how the class adores him (and also the amount of moments Bakugou has with the class compared to izuku)
Hori abandoned a diamond(izuku) for a coal(Bakugou), while Nishi polished the diamond to perfection and showed him all the care in the world.
Anyway, have a nice week. I recommend watching “Welcome to demon school, Iruma kun!” It’s adorable, and if you love Izuku you would like Iruma kun.
Thank you for the suggestion! It sounds awesome.
Yes, Horikoshi somehow forgot the premise of his own manga along the way. And it's so funny because a big criticism is that 1A as a whole isn't properly developed, which would have been easily fixed if he had focused more on Academia.
But the problem with this is UA itself. Aizawa doesn't teach, All Might is new, and the rest of the teachers are ignored into oblivion. For being the best hero school in the world, it doesn't put much stock into its students.
Apparently, Aizawa stans don't see the fact that while he was making every concession for Bakugou, five of his other students failed the final exam. Horikoshi's favoritism of Bakugou makes every other character look worse

hiii! do you have headcanons for Caryn?
Hey!
I think she was a grade A girlboss who never did anything wrong!
LMAO just kidding. She (in my mind) is a complicated character who had a lot of her own issues. Everything under here is my own interpretation of her because we don't get much information in canon but I kind of built a profile of her in my head based on personal experiences that line up with how Stan and Ford turn out.
I think she was probably quite a neglectful mother, but not always on purpose. I have no doubt she loved both Stan and Ford but I think she was probably emotionally distant in a lot of different ways. Maybe she 'had' to be; engaging emotionally when you're trapped in an abusive relationship is not something that some people feel they can do because it's painful to feel so helpless, so they detach.
In canon, they mention that she calls Stanley 'her free spirit' and it's clear she has quite a lot of affection for him. Although she held affection for him, she was also stated to be a liar and it's implied that Stan takes more after her than his father, so I imagine her to be quite hot/cold and to struggle with expressing that affection all the time.
I think she felt bad for Stan. She felt guilty for how Filbrick treated him but she was powerless to stop it. I imagine that she tried to protect him from Filbrick a lot but obviously, I don't doubt that she probably suffered her own abuse so couldn't shield him completely. So although she was more inclined to show Stanley affection where Ford was receiving recognition, she wouldn't have been able to stop Stan from getting kicked out or anything. Same as Ford.
She's 100% where Stan leaned his dodgy tricks from. I picture her stealing and cheating a lot both in business and just for fun, and as I mentioned, I think Stan picked up way more of her traits than he did his father's. (I do also think Ford learnt from her like that, and I think he used those skills to survive in the portal!) I can see her teaching Stan how to count cards and roll cigarettes at a young age. My mum had a wheeler dealer uncle who would sit her on his lap and have her roll him ciggies non stop while he showed her the best way to steal stuff from lorries LMAO and he later taught me how to steal stuff too. I can see Caryn being like that with Stan.
In the limited scenes we get of her, she comes across as quite hot tempered and manipulative. Again, that matches Stan and Ford. I don't thin she was mean to either of them, but I think she would have had a tendency to put what she wanted before them.
I think she was one of the rare figures who actually loved and cared about Ford beyond what he could 'offer'. She would have maybe come across to Ford as being more openly affectionate with Stan, but I think that's a compensation thing; she shows Stan more outright affection because Filbrick is meaner to him in more obvious ways than he is to Ford, so she tries to balance that out. But I think she loved both of them equally.
That being said, I always wondered why she never checked on Ford. He went stir crazy up in Gravity Falls on his own and it's never mentioned that he stays in contact with anyone. This could just be a plot hole for the show, which is fine, and Ford could have been pushing himself so hard that he just never felt that he could take the time off, but I think it's weird that he never mentions (iirc) talking to her on the phone or anything. So maybe that falls in line with the neglectful aspect of her personality, for me.
However, I do think she kept in contact with Stan on the sly. Obviously, he had no fixed abode and mobile phones weren't a thing, but I expect she stayed living in the same house until her death and so I like to think that Stan maybe sent her letters to make sure she was okay, and maybe he even risked calling the house at times he thought his dad might be out of earshot, at work or whatever. Even if she never wrote back because Stan had no way of knowing if he'd still be in the same location during that time, I still like to think they'd have communicated somehow.
#asks#anon#gf asks#i'm making a general gf tag too now#i like talking about interpretations of it all

Yo, so I saw a TigerDove shipper call out Bumblestripe for "trying to cuddle up to Dovewing in the apprentice den when she was an APPRENTICE and he was a WARRIOR." But according to all your posts here, Tigerheart kind of did the same thing? How come Bumblestripe gets flack for something questionable but Tigerheart doesn't? I'm not a Bumblestripe apologist either. I just think it's annoying how much people stan Tigerheart and Dovetiger so much they forget their not so great aspects.
Not just kind of, Tigerheart is one of two cats known to have dated an apprentice while never sharing a single moment of apprenticeship with them. The other cat is intentionally written pedophile Thistleclaw. As far as we know not even Dustpelt dated Fernpaw, even though it was clear he wanted to.
Tigerheart is a character that generally gets let off way too lightly by a lot of the fandom just because he is nice to his wife now. I just see excuses after excuses for the stuff he did in oots. Lots of it I see trying to age down his age to make it sound like he was a brand new warrior when she was made an apprentice, or was made a warrior shortly after she was apprenticed. But that isn’t true. He was a warrior while she was still a kit, and she was ten moons old at best when they started dating. Not only was he a warrior, but his brother was a fully established medicine cat, so Tiger had likely been a warrior for at least a short while before Dovekit was apprentices. If a 20/21 year old dated a 16 year old that would rightfully be called out. Why do people see this differently? Being nice to her now doesn’t make up for grooming and using her then.
It really just upsets me to see. I don’t think how we view adults acting towards minors should be affected by whether or not they end up happily together later on when both are adults.

I saw a comment that really hit the nail on the head regarding a lot of the fandom in both ASOIAF/HOTD spaces. Basically, this comment said that a lot of Dany/Rhaenyra/Targ stans don't understand that targ women can both be oppressed and also oppressors. They literally view Westeros in this lens that the Worst Thing That Can Ever Happen to someone is misogyny, and yes GRRM's ahistorical levels of misogyny imbued in his work don't help here, and that nothing else can come close lol. They don't really get class dynamics, lesser nobles, etc. When you're the crown princess of the realm you have immense power, but also responsibility which, yes, includes not openly cuckolding your spouse and having obvious bastards you try to put into the succession lol. They very much think that every targ women could do whatever she wanted with her immensely privileged and pampered position as a royal and if anyone says anything, well, it's misogyny. It's a deeply unannounced, ahistorical way to look at this series.
Your comment in one of your other anons where you said 'are you really sexually liberated if you are causing pain to others in your vicinity' was funny to me because targ stans unironically would say 'yes.' They are stuck in this modern sensibility that romantic/sexual freedom is the number one civil liberty and anything a character does in pursuit of it is fine, even at the expense of others, and if anything bad happens as a result, well that's just the Patriarchy's fault. It's a fundamental difference in thinking that I don't think can ever be bridged because they are incapable of not projecting modern values. They truly believe that targ women can be privileged, pampered, politically and socially powerful, yet not be beholden to any of the traditions, duties, or responsibilities even with the most, like, basic decorum expected of royal and any calling out of this behavior is just misogyny lmao.
It's just so stupid lmao. Imagine if people had said that Queen Elizabeth II, one of the most rich, powerful, and privileged women in the world for literal decades was 'oppressed' because she couldn't have obvious affairs or take official mistresses or boytoys and have bastard children like her male forefathers did and blame that on misogyny lmao. It's literally the same thought process but these people cannot put two and two together if their lives depended on it.
^^^^ you did it, anon. you condensed targ stans to their essence 😅
some of them act as if being monarch should mean doing exactly what you want at all times and any kind of suggestion that immense privilege comes at the price of great responsibility automatically translates to misogyny. god forbid we put some restriction on "absolute power" and make it less absolute.
also in regards to sexual freedom and their inability to imagine a life without it. you live in the 21st century!! not only that you have recognised rights enshrined by law, but you also have modern medicine!! you have antibiotics, contraceptives, safe abortion, emergency services, surgeons, you can book an appointment with a doctor if you're feeling unwell etc. look me in the eye and tell me that if all of those were taken away overnight you'd continue to be your sexually liberated self and risk dying painfully of an STD in the name of love.
of course there are religious and sexist dimensions to restricting women's sexuality, there is no point in pretending otherwise, but who would really want their spouse to risk infecting them with whatnot in the name of sexual freedom? it's equally unhelpful in pretending there's not an aspect of public health in encouraging behaviours like chastity, monogamy and being faithful to your spouse.
again, this is not to say that it was all good and proper to be like that and what a time of pure morals we left behind in the olden days. it's to say that those times truly sucked for a lot of people, sometimes because of reasons they had no control over, and that they often had to choose between options that all sucked in some way

Ok so…ima need you to explain jackieshauna to me. Because I’ve stanned so many f/f ships, but I just don’t….see it. I see people refer to them as homoerotic yet….they barely even show physical affection. Hell, they barely show affection towards the other. So what are y’all seeing that I’m not?
I mean yeah I can explain what I see for sure! But also; ships are just ships, and they’re just for fun. You can not see it if you don’t want to, and that’s totally your prerogative! Honestly, I’m cool with people seeing it or people not seeing it or whatever. It’s all pretty chill to me.
But, to me, there’s definitely something there. Gosh, it’s almost hard for me to put it into words. It helps that the showrunners have stated that they loved each other, with Bart explicitly saying in an interview that they were in love.
However, i guess I should get into why I like it. For one, they’re childhood best friends, but there’s also something so much history between the two that we don’t even get to see in the show. But what we do see in the show is two people who know each other so, so well but not at all, not really. They got used to the idea of knowing each other and appear to have forgotten taking the time to actually do that.
The way that Jackie and Shauna look at each other is another reason I like them. From the pilot episode, to me, it looks like there’s something in their eyes when they see each other. The way they look at each other in line at the pep rally, the way Shauna stares at Jackie and Jeff. Now, an argument can be made that Shauna’s jealous because of Jeff, but there’s not enough evidence to back that in the show. The main (and likely only) reason that Shauna sleeps with Jeff is because he’s Jackie’s. Because she wants what Jackie has, because she wants to be Jackie. In my opinion, she does it because she’s chasing the taste of something she thinks she can never have. Then, of course, you have Jackie looking back at Shauna, Shauna looking back at Jackie, the hug, the “love you,” the fact that it isn’t returned.
And all of that’s just the pilot.
There’s so much love and jealousy between these two characters. And there’s a lot of physical touch and intimacy if you know where to look for it. Sharing the necklace, the numerous times that they hug, the lingering shots of hands gripping shirts, arms squeezing tight. I love the jealousy aspects, how Jackie reacts to Shauna spending more time with Tai, the way Shauna looks at Jackie when she chooses to hang out with Mari at the lake. Jackie is trying to make Shauna jealous; it’s working.
Jackie never moves on from Shauna’s betrayal; it’s a contributing factor in her death. And, like. She would have forgiven Shauna if she’d just apologized; the dream in the season one finale kind of confirms that. She’s more upset about the way that Shauna thinks about her than the cheating. And it seems less upsetting to her that Jeff cheated on her with Shauna than the fact that Shauna cheated on her with Jeff. It’s the secrets. “You lost your virginity without me.”
Shauna never moved on from Jackie. Period. Full stop. The trajectory of her entire life changes. She fits herself uncomfortably into the life that she thinks Jackie would have occupied, despite the fact that Jackie never planned on being with Jeff full time, always planned to go to college, likely hoped to make something of herself. Shauna fits herself into the mold that she thinks Jackie would have settled for in her worst timeline because Shauna thinks she deserves it. She sees Jackie’s ghost, both in ‘96 and ‘21, though some of the hauntings are almost a perversion of who we actually see Jackie to be in the show. She talks to her corpse, keeps it for two entire months between season one and season two before the rest of the girls do something about it.
“I can’t tell where you end and I begin.” “She wants us to.” “It’s what she would have wanted, if not for us, then for you.” They cared about each other. They really did love each other. And they were kind of obsessed with each other, so much so that it sort of ruined both of their lives.
So I don’t know. I mean, it’s just the way I feel about them, what I see when I watch the show. I think there’s plenty of evidence that they’re affectionate towards each other. They do more than just revolve around each other; they’re like organs in the same organ system, connected and needing each other to survive. And they feed off of each other. Oh, teenage girls cannibalize each other metaphorically all the time, and Jackie and Shauna were doing it for years before they ever ate Jackie’s body. This is all just my own personal opinions and my own reading of the show. But I think there’s more than enough evidence there.

1 a. I don't think kidding someone's feet automatically equals foot fetish. If you have someone a kiss on the shoulder doors that mean you have a shoulder fetish?
1 b. Even if he does, that didn't automatically make him evil or a creep. Kinks and fetishes are not moral indicators and acting like they do is juvenile. It might not be for you, or even make you uncomfortable, and that's okay. Live and let live.
2. I don't think it's fair to call Persephone a homewrecker when:
a. Minthe and Hades were not exclusive. Minthe was sleeping with Thanatos - Hades' adoptive son - and Hades was sleeping with Hera anyway.
b. Minthe was emotionally, verbally, and physically abusive to Hades. I feel like everyone forgets that she literally hit him. He shouldn't have been in that relationship anyways.
Okay first off, I’m sorry if I made it seem like I was kinkshaming at all. I was honestly just joking about that comparison and one of the main reasons why I said that it reminded me of Dan Schneider and that I was repulsed was because of the “creepy” aspect of it being placed in there, it was around the end that the person said that the kink seemed like it was only given to creepy guys. I don’t care about kinks genuinely and trust me I do mind my business when it comes to those things, again my apologies if I did come off immature.
But you’re right, his kink doesn’t make him a creep but the fact that he literally is creepy, manipulative, and an overall messed up person makes him a little bit more warranted for those kinds of comments since that’s literally how he represents himself in the comic. Hades is a slave owning, hypocritical, child neglecting, abusive, and overall tyrant to everyone who’s not kissing his ass and it’s not me exaggerating it’s literally just how he is that’s him as a person overall.
And I do think it is fair to call Persephone a homewrecker based on the very fact that they were seeing each other and breaking a lot of boundaries after Hades and Minthe officially made it official. Mind you, it was Hades who wanted to close the open relationship so yeah now seeing other people and touching them beyond the appropriate interaction between an employee and boss especially is now inappropriate and not something that you can just wave the “we’re not in a closed relationship” card at. Also, by definition Persephone was one of the sole reasons that Minthe and Hades broke up since Minthe started noticing just how overly affectionate they became with each other while working so yes, she is a homewrecker. She broke a home and please don’t comment by saying “there was never a home in the first place” because there was, you can’t just give homewrecking and emotional cheating a pass because you don’t like the character they still had history.
Also, trust me when I say no one forgets that Minthe hits him. Every single time I post about Minthe I make sure to acknowledge the fact that I don’t condone her actions and actually a lot of critics do as well since there’s a lot of people like you (not saying this in a bad way by the way) that do believe that many people are Minthe stans every time you discuss her without stating that fact. But even though yes, it was a fairly toxic relationship on both sides and they should’ve broke up much sooner like I said before there was still a relationship there that they were both in. It’s still emotional cheating and homewrecking on Hades and Persephone’s part, also Persephone doesn’t even know how Minthe treated Hades she just never cared about her feelings to begin with and pursued her boyfriend basically.
Also last thing but do you know what slap everyone does tend to forget a lot? Hecate when she slapped the ever loving shit out of Hades, now I’m not saying since that happened just forget about Minthe’s behavior at all but I am saying that we should all react to that slap the same. We all agree that it’s never okay to put your hands on someone so why should we condone it when it’s not Minthe?

so... i finished the new natlan aqs...
spoilers utc w/ very long rambles haha... mainly abt capitano—
first off, wow. i actually did not know what to expect going into this version's aqs, but good lord they were so well-written?? i genuinely cried and sobbed at some parts, namely ororon's realisation where he wants to live for himself and fights to retain his soul and chuychu's death with chasca grieving over her... there were so many amazing aspects in acts 3 & 4, with the fights and cutscenes being so, so well done, the lore bombs (seelies being confirmed to be /past/ angels) and the music??? ohh the osts were so good... and the theme that came up in the capitano scenes.... ourhgghg...
speaking of capitano, may i just say: wow. what a man. i genuinely love his character so much and the writers did him so much justice?? like, he has his own goals and ideals but doesn't let that get in the way of being kind and caring and upholding his honour, and isn't beneath apologising and admitting his mistakes when proven wrong...
another thing i love is his relationship with his subordinates !! like, the concern he showed for them on several occasions and the concern & admiration they have for him is just... so nice to see? idk it just feels so refreshing to see a mutually appreciative dynamic with the fatui especially ;w;; and then his progressive relationship with our main natlan cast... him saving xilonen, not once, but twice (that should've been me—), how he went from being dismissive of ororon to caring for his well-being, his growing respect for mavuika and hers for him, and how he decided to ditch his plan in the end to help be part of mavuika's one.... i am so unwell...
and not to mention that last scene with him???? like sir wdym ronova sent u and u know that mavuika has to pay a debt with her death and that u have a bone to pick with that final for which means u are more than likely to also join us both into the night kingdom for the final fight with the abyss which may or may not lead to u sacrificing urself in mavuika's stead so she doesn't have to die and—
oh lord i am not ready for the future story with him...
ALSO HE IS FROM KHAENRI'AH DURING THE CATACLYSM AND WAS A COMMANDER????
sobbing the pain in his voice when he was relaying how he lost his comrades, family and nation, fleeing to natlan with his remaining platoon once realising khaenri'ah couldn't be saved despite his attempts in hopes of escaping the carnage and giving what was left of himself and his comrades some reprieve only to face the abyss invasion again in natlan...
but oh my god when he was saying how the chief of the masters of the night-wind, ayizu, and how he didn't treat capitano any differently despite being from khaenri'ah and most ppl believing khaenri'ah and its inhabitants to be the cause of the tragedy, thus making himself duty-bound to help natlan ;w;
AND TSARITSA MENTION??? HER ALLOWING THE HARBINGERS THE FREEDOM TO DISCOVER THEIR OWN MEANING AND FOR IT TO TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER HER ORDERS IF THE TIME CALLS FOR IT??? we stan a homie !!
ALSO DAIN MENTION RAAHHHHH
"he carries a degree of pain and hatred that far surpasses my own" oh. so we're going down that route, huh. i see how it is. but also the way he also calls him "dain" ;w;; ueueue also rotting corpse/flesh... i wonder if this is in the literal sense or an abyssal rot/erosion like dain's arm? hm...
okay but now i really want to see how dain reacts to us mentioning capitano, and if he would instantly know who we are referring to since dain knows a lot despite his deteriorating memory, and maybe we might get a capitano name reveal...? also is this us being one step closer to seeing dain in an actual main story aq?? ALSO THE ABYSS SIBLING BEING KHAENRI'AHN ROYALTY CONFIRMATION RAAHHH
anyway before moving on to the heavier parts of the quest have some capitano mavuika interactions bc i love them and their old married couple-esque bickering :((
(also ororon just standing in the middle of them during their squabble like a son and going "can i say something?" 😭)
++ kinich and ajaw being... well... kinich and ajaw.
okay. haha. the war. :)
genuinely was not expecting it to be depicted so... dark? like, i know it's war and that natlan is the nation of war, but with genshin's streak of not going in depth to explicitly show death and the like (though they have been bolder in recent updates, namely fontaine), i wasn't expecting to see literal corpses of the npcs and saurians strewn on the ground after the abyss got stronger, and that whichever area we picked over another would have consequences... the devastation i felt when realising the other area i could have helped was completely wiped out... gosh...
our choices actually having consequences and changing what happens during the war + depending on how long u take to defeat the enemies also heavily impacts the death count??? LIKE WHAT
and then paimon becoming progressively distressed the longer it went on and the more found dead genuinely broke my heart like 😭
and oh god... chuychu's death... chasca momentarily losing control of the abyssal contamination due to grief only to rein it in a moment later.... and then chasca becoming recognised by the ancient name due to it and becoming the final awakened hero... ourgh....
and when walking around the stadium to talk with those who made it back and there's this one baby saurian waiting for its person and saurian friends/family to come back...
LIKE STOP THIS HYV DO U WANT ME TO END IT ALL???? WHY WOULD U INCLUDE THIS BITBKSAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
BUT OMG THE CUTSCENE WHERE ALL THE AWAKENED HEROES + MAVUIKA FORMED THE CIRCLE WITH THEIR POWERS GOING TO MAVUIKA AS SHE MAINTAINS THE SUN-LIKE POWER IN THE SKY??? ONLY TO THEN LATER DEAL THE FINAL BLOW TO THE ABYSS STRUCTURE AND PIERCE THROUGH IT AND REVEAL THE FAKE FUCKING SKY????
WHAT THE FUCK????? CONFIRMATION THE SKY IS FAKE AND THAT SCARA ALL THE WAY BACK IN 1.0/1 DURING THE STARS EVENT WAS RIGHT AND THAT POST ACT 4 U CAN STILL SEE MOON FRAGMENTS IN THE SKY????
man. got chills from the war depictions. got chills from the cutscenes. got chills from the fake sky confirmation.
also this was such a cute scene with everyone + mavuika in the distant background that i had to take a screenshot ;w;
but ourgh... the amount of sacrifices we witnessed and were too late to help prevent just really set it in stone just how devastating and powerless it can make u feel... it's only 5.1 and it's gotten this dark just how much darker are u going to take it with the abyss final showdown hyv 😭😭
also capitano feeling admiration for everyone who stood up and fought the abyss...
i am unwell i love him...
now. mavuika.
sobbing i love, love, love her so much !! she was mothering so hard as always like??? taking care of us, being the one to being the light that pulled ororon out of the darkness so he could find his way out (pls don't touch me i sobbed so hard during that entire scene where he realised he didn't want to self-sacrifice anymore but instead live for himself and for those who care for him, thus awakening as one of the heroes... holds him gently...), showing how much she cared for her people...
but it also really puts into perspective just how much she chose to sacrifice and put behind her (her loved ones and her then life) for a chance to be able to finally put an end to the war with the abyss and free natlan...
she was so radiant like the sun that she became one :')
but also...
they brought back the seeing past loved ones mindscape scene... sobs i don't wanna see what happens in the next update bc of mavuika's debt death and capitano's potential sacrifice intervention but at the same time i do 😭😭 (also she was so stunning here i had to take a screenshot aha)
BUT GENUINELY I GREW TO LOVE THE NATLAN CAST SO MUCH??? xilonen, citlali and ororon especially with them being new and i wasn't sure how much i would like them, but oh god i love how they were written and how real they felt with strengths and flaws ;w;;
but also with the drop that paimon will be staying behind while us and mavuika go to the night kingdom for the final battle, her separation anxiety is going to go through the fucking roof good lord... i also predict we will die and get resurrected at some point in our time down their bc... ain't no way are they giving us an ancient name for it to not be used for resurrection in the night kingdom...
anyway it's 4am and i spent like. 2 hours typing this up and i have so much more i could talk about but then this would be neverending so um. haha.
if u read to the end (here) then
1) thank you for reading my nonsensical rambles and cries <33
2) why would u put urself through this?
3) have four cookies for the time spent on this post 🍪🍪🍪🍪
#just genshin <3#the lore was lore-ing so hard like what#I HAD CHILLS SO MANY TIMES AND SOBBED SO HARD#gonna have swollen eyes... haha....

I just read a Sterek fic where Derek was already a True Alpha before the movie was even a thing that happened. I do not want to be accusatory, but do you have anymore instances of the writers taking ideas from fanfiction? Because there are so many stories where Derek stays an alpha even though the show tried to portray him as an incompetent one, and that seems to be the source of conflict among Scott Stans & Shippers who don't respect Scott. https://archiveofourown.org/works/28209924/chapters/69127125
i'm hesitant and wary to say they copied fanfic because that's really hard to prove and most creator's avoid it for legal reasons. however, given the history of teen wolf's interaction with and use of fandom i wouldn't be surprised if there was at minimum a cursory gander at what were the popular theories amongst fandom.
teen wolf still has an official tumblr after all.
off the top of my head stiles being possessed was a pretty hot idea amongst fandom back in 2012 because there was so much overlap between supernatural and teen wolf fans.
derek being a mechanic was pretty popular amongst au's but i'm sure jeff davis also saw the same photoshoot the rest of us did and probably had the same feelings about it.
derek remaining an alpha or becoming an alpha again is also super popular amongst fandom -- especially sterek fandom -- to this day.
personally, i think jeff always planned for derek to become an alpha again at some point but hoechlin left the show so derek's arc closed with him becoming an evolved werewolf and being triumphant over kate. derek wasn't so much incompetent (despite deaton's view) and more so inexperienced.
the failwolf accusations came from fandom making jokes and than it turning into some kind of ascended meme combined with a lot of fanon flanderization of derek's character.
i think people overlook the aspect of derek's arc where he has to overcome peter's influence over his ideas of power and control just as allison had to overcome gerard and kate's influence on her life. parallels parallels parallels y'all.
scott is a surprisingly divisive topic in fandom and derek and scott's relationship even more-so. it's messy and complicated. they both project a lot of their issues onto each other and it's part of their growth that they gradually overcome this.
i'm someone who likes scott. he's not perfect like some say. he doesn't always get his way like some seem to think. he fails a lot too. scott mccall is a messy bitch and the narrative does show that but like teen wolf's writing isn't the strongest.
it's one thing to not like scott. i can respect that. you're not always going to vibe and click with every character. i do, however, think there are those who do it in bad faith and are just downright rude.
people want to put derek and scott in competition. the only person who ever competed with derek was stiles fucking stilinksi in season 1 when he got in his feelings about derek teaching scott.
but really -- jeff wrote that movie by the seat of his pants because it in no way accounted for the two most central characters to the nogitsune plot wouldn't return. the whole thing waffled without stiles and kira being present. i don't necessarily put the blame on him entirely as i'm sure he was under time constraints by the studio.
you don't do two seasons of your six season show on the importance of stiles stilinski and than be able to have a functional narrative without him. scott mccall as a character doesn't make sense without his other half -- who is not allison.
but i think jeff really meant something with derek making the sacrifice to stop the nogtisune and "dying" in fire on top of the nemeton thereby earning alpha status again. i have theories about it bro.
....i'm also gonna check out that fic, thanks.

Why does anti-North sentiment seem so prevalent in this fandom? I can't scroll in the main tags for longer than, like, 5 minutes without seeing something borderline discriminatory said (or implied) about it.
When I first read the books, it was abundantly clear to me that the Northmen and how they're treated was meant to represent how some actual peoples are treated irl, on the grounds of them being 'uncivilised' in the eyes of the majority- So, why are there so many people who speak about the Nort in such an offensive manner? I wish I could say that it was just the Targ fans, but I have seen multiple Sansa fans have this exact same stance as well, to my surprise. Do these people just happen to not pick up on the coding the North has, or is there some other reason for it that I don't know?
I'm gonna say something people won't like, but there sometimes is not a lot of difference between the extreme Dany fans and the extreme Sansa fans. They are cut from the same cloth in how they behave. Now, obviously Sansa doesn't have war crimes under her ledger, so being extreme about her isn't as big of a deal, but the way her stans behave is not so different from the Dany stans they hate so much.
Her behavior is always excused, and justified. She is never held accountable for when she truly did something wrong, or is in the wrong, She is propped up as someone who is going to come out on top as Queen in some way, when nothing of her story points to that ending. They are very aggressive about anyone who disagrees, and they participate in the very same insufferable toxic incest shipping war that Dany stans do.
Those people see the North this way, because they do not see Sansa as a Northerner. Sansa has a lot superficially about her that is southern coded. Her looks, her attitude, her mannerisms are all very much an extension of her mother, septa mordane and the south. So, they see those things and portray her in a manner that shows she is above all of the Northern traits.
She is kind and well put together and will civilize these unruly Northern Lords with grace. They want Sansa to be Queen, but because her story does not indicate that will at all be her ending, they have to prop her up as better then the North to show that they need her to tame them. She can rule the North because she will civilize them.
They won't phrase it that way, but thats what they think.
It's the same thing as Targ stans. They prefer the characters whose values are opposite of the North, and thus to justify some of the worst aspects of their favourites, they talk down about the North to give any credence as to why they are right for thinking their characters are superior.
Which is ironic considering how many of them like characters whose values are closer to the North then they think. They like House Strong and House Blackwood for their pro Targaryean association, when both House Strong and House Blackwood were once actually Northern houses. Their values are rooted in the First Men, not the Andals and certainly not the Valyrians.
These people see the success and popularity of the North as a competetor to their thought that their favourites are superior. So they need to downgrade the North in order to justify putting a Targaryean in charge of it, or a Southern Coded Sansa, to tame them into civility.
They literally treat the North, the way in universe characters look at the wildlings. But with no shred of self awareness about the fact.
It also doesn't help that in order to manufacture tension where it didn't exist before, the show also coded the North as racist. So they feel justified in putting them in their place because they are racist, when literally nothing proves that. It was a writing choice to make Robb Stark marry a woman of colour, and to make Rickard Karstark racist towards her. They made the choice to be racist just to manfufacture tension, and then they did it again in season 6 when the Glovers insinuate Robb marrying a "foreigner" is what killed the North, and in season 8 when Missandei receives negative looks.
There is nothing in the books or even in the actions of the actual characters outside of these moments to suggect these are racist people. It was there, soley to justify having someone subjegate them to civilize these horrible habits of theirs.
They don't have any actual arguments against the North being independant and good, so they cherry pick the worst things to justify themselves.
And because these people like very popular characters, and House of the Dragon has reignited obnoxious pro Targaryean stans, the North has been villanized to justify why they dont deserve to just exist as they already do.
Someone needs to come in and fix them, not realizing how insanely bad that makes these people truly look.

DRUNK ANON! tryna not make mistakes here. THAT TOOK ME 20 Seconds to correct it because am drunk but BROOO. don’t call me baby. i catch feelings QUICK! hehehe. wink wink. when u say “ily” i feel a lil bit special (LMAAOO JKl
ANYWAY!! it’s SOOOO hard for me to write in Ada’s POV because we get so little of Ada’s back story or just in general, but then again it leaves room to explore Ada. Question, do you hear more of Ada’s voice or Leon’s? How do you stay motivated to write? What music evoke emotions out of you or have you think about Aeon? this is sooo messy 😭😭😭😭 i’m all over the place. SORRY.
OHH happy Holidays! OMG ANd ur layout for Leon’s apartment is how Totlaly how I imagined it. um. fuck. i lost track of my thoughts. it’s 1:22AM. Thank you for always having time for AEON NATION. you’re da best! 💕
YOU DIDN'T SAY IF YOU WERE GONNA DRINK WATER >:(
YOU BETTA DO THAT AFTER U DRUNK
sjkdbfsjkfnslkfsniofesidfh
u did a good job spelling hehe
yessss i do think that it's harder to write for ada. i think that we all subconsciously add our own ideas into how ada behaves and acts. and i think that's fine to some extent since she is "playing a role" isn't she? she's always this kinda cold person but we see her becoming softer for leon. so i think we have a bit of space to explore that and make a more "real version" of an ada. i do think that some people (even ada and aeon stans) still mischaracterize ada or her backstory, which is fine tbh since we have so little of her childhood, but like the egregious mischaracterizing (usually from anti ada and anti aeon people) is the kind of shit i hate- like her wanting to kill leon or something like that. or the flip side of her wanting to save the bunnies - although i do like the addition of her saving the chickens in re4r lol.
i like to think of them in both povs because i feel like it gives us a better way to move the plot along. if an entire fic is only from leon's pov it's a bit boring to me. i like the alternating povs and i usually write like that. the only ada only pov that i've ever written is this one.
even my other fics i add some of ada's pov.
i think it's important to explore both of their motivations and thoughts and ideas even if you don't end up writing one of their povs. it makes the writing disjointed sometimes if you don't think about the other characters and how they feel. even side or secondary characters i think it's important to flesh out just enough so that they're not just used as a plot device. (not to say only writing in characters for plot devices are bad, but keep them secondary characters or minor background characters.)
uhhhhhh honestly i write for fun so i just try to write a little bit when i feel like it T_T sjkdfbsjkfs i wrote a post on how to stay motivated but i don't remember what it was called. it might be tagged under like #heart writes or something like that
uhhhhh i have lots of songs that i like! i have a bunch tagged with #aeon coded song
THAT'S OKAY MY LOVE
ujjjhhhhhh
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!! heheheheh im glad! i did try to explain it when i was writing but it's also okay if people had different ideas for apartment layouts. i wasn't like super specific about some aspects of it.
THAAANK YOOUUU 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 DRINK SOME WATERR 💕💕💕

For the askbox meme I’m asking not only my daughter Relena but also Trowa my son Trowa
THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU
Relena
First impression: calling myself out rn but not only because i am a Woman Lover but also bc i just love blondes i knew i would love her…….. i knew she would be based Impression now: but i had no idea HOW BASED!!! she really is so insanely funny and headstrong. she is so much more than u could ever anticipate Favorite moment: so many to choose from like "HEERO!! HURRY UP AND COME KILL ME!" (<- moment i knew she was crazy crazy) or her pulling out a gun at a formal event out of nowhere. but i do really adore the final scene with heero where she reverses the iconic episode 1 scene on him and rips the card he gave her with the smuggest grin… SO good. i already knew it was true love but that's how i know it was eternal!!!!!!! Idea for a story: can i please have like an insane family dinner with heero&relena and zechs post-canon. i find any kind of sibling relationships lovely esp when you throw in their significant other into the mix in an in-laws kinda setting its SO funny. wonderful. also i just really want to see her interact with zechs more, ALSO i would like to see more of their early childhood…. Unpopular opinion: APPARENTLY LIKING HER??? she's the coolest ever all relena haters are INVALID Favorite relationship: OH YOU KNOW IT!!!! HEERO… heero is such a handful but the thing is, so is relena. she is SO much more insane than one can ever imagine from just seeing a picture of her with no context. the only person who can handle heero and vice versa. THAT SAID, her dynamic with dorothy is also insane and very funny. i stan a crazy bisexual Favorite headcanon: i know it's confirmed she's north european but i think it's super funny if she's swedish particularly. she's sitting down and eating janssons frestelse with zechs and heero for that family dinner
Trowa
First impression: this guy's hair is really 90s and he is so slavic coded. also remember when i asked you "is the clown thing a term of endearment or is he really a clown". YEAH <3 Impression now: I LOVE HIM. HE IS LIKE A SON-IN-LAW TO ME. PRECIOUS CHARACTER i like him very much and you definitely endeared me to him even before i watched wing and moreso after i did!!! also he really is a clown. by occupation. for real. Favorite moment: ok i don't know if this is my all time favorite but i think a lot about that scene where dorothy and quatre are both hurt and trowa just picks up quatre and leaves. without dorothy. so funny. sorry #feminism but quatre is basically a woman (not in a haha feminine man way but like actually) but. it was so funny. love Idea for a story: sorry for the shipper brain but i still really want that 3x4 1xR double date so badly. it would be so awkward and based. both because i think both of these couples are true loves and also because i think putting anyone in the same room with heero and relena is hilarious. Unpopular opinion: i will be honest i don't know enough about wing fandom besides what you've told me? but um. he is NOT british i can say that much… whoever thinks that. sorry but its just not right it goes against my personal beliefs Favorite relationship: QUATRE/TROWA OBVIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!! TRUE WUW. even the romantic aspect aside i Like Them Favorite headcanon: that he is BASED and SLAVICPILLED. (PART) ESTONIAN TROWA REAL AND TRUE!! he is eating kiluvõileib and sült after a hard day of work at the circus i know this. sorry these ended up both being about nationalities but in my defense i LOVE nationality hcs

Okay so I'm gonna write something about this because it genuinely made me feel rather sad. To preface this, I love both Lackadaisy and Hazbin/Helluva. I think both are very cool and I'm so happy that a bunch of animators could come together to make passion projects that have gained as much attention as these. However I have some feelings about these kinds of posts.
Yes, Hazbin and Helluva have a rather limited range of colors in their Hell settings. Personally I think it works in their favor. It lets the bright colors of the Human world (in Helluva) stand out more in contrast to the main setting, and also the limited pallet is made up of colors closely associated with the concept of Hell. In my opinion it helps the non-traditional depictions of Demons read as Demons. It works. The colors used are also heavily associated with negativity and evil. All of the characters are in Hell and are, therefore, not the greatest people. The colors work to help amplify that aspect.
Lackadaisy isn't set in Hell. It wouldn't make sense for everything to be red and black. It is, however, set in the Prohibition Era. What does this mean for the colors, then? It means that they use a lot of muted colors. A lot of them lean towards brown and grey. A lot of blues, as well. As well as being reminiscent of the time period the series is set in, these muted colors also help the eyes of the characters stand out and be the focus. It helps to guide your eyes to their faces, their expressions. It shows you where to focus. This is the same for the explosions which use violently bright reds, oranges and yellows that stand out exceptionally well against everything else.
The colors are a huge part of both of these series and do their part to work with the art to carry across these ideas and feelings through the work. A lot of people like to hate on Viv and her work and it makes me genuinely sad to see everyone come after her (and by proxy the rest of the hard working team of artists and animators that work with her!!! Remember that!!!!) like this. This is one of the more reasonable reasons to dislike her work, I'll admit that, however it comes down to personal choice and opinion. You prefer the color scheme of Lackadaisy? That's great! Watch Lackdaisy! It's a phenomenal work of art, I highly reccommend it. You hate the color scheme of Hazbin/Helluva? That's fine! That's your opinion! But don't go around comparing it to other things that have different styles and themes and motives and.. well, practically everythng aside from both being animated YouTube shows. All that does is tear down other creators. Yes, Viv has grown in following and popularity over the years, but she's still a person. If you don't like her, that's fine. But don't go and tear down her (And the rest of her team. You're tearing down the whole production team, keep that in mind.) work. Please.
I say this not as a hardcore Vivziepop stan or anything like that, but as a smaller creator myself. As someone currently struggling with wanting so desperately to animate and share my own stuff with people and to have the opprotunity to work on big projects like these. I say this all because it is unbelievably discouraging to see these indie works get compared in such a way that could be incredibly damaging to the team of one. Keep that in mind- Hazbin is an indie project! Yes, it got picked up by A24, but Spindle Horse (Vivzie's own studio) is still doing all the animaton for it. A24 is just the publisher.
Indie works can be critisized, I highly encourage you to critisize them because that's how people improve! But just saying "This thing is great and this other thing is so bad in comparison lmao" isn't helpful. It's harmful to the people working on it and it's harmful to people like me who are so scared to make the things they want to make for fear of them being scrutinized and hated for the creative choices they make. If you have critisism, then frame it in a way that is constructive. Don't just point at something and say it's bad, explain why you think it's bad. Otherwise, it could just make the creators bitter and it could scare up-and-coming creators out of making the next big indie project. And that would be an absolute shame, now wouldn't it?
Extremely funny to me that Lackadaisy, an animated show in which all of the characters are cats, has more interesting and diverse character design than Hazbin Hotel, an animated show in which characters are demons in Hell who can look like literally anything. Crucially, the creator(s) of Lackadaisy seem to understand that colors other than red, white, and black exist.
#okay woof sorry i just. have a lot of feelings about all the hate towards viv's stuff#cuz like- i get it. some of the critiques are valid.#but there's a lot that also aren't.#a lot of stuff is just opinionated and used as fuel for the huge hate train towards viv#and i feel like a lot of people forget that there's a whole team behind her stuff#you're not just ripping apart viv and her work. you're tearing into all of the freelance animators and artists that work with her#just imagine if you were on the Hazbin team and suddenly tons of people started tearing apart one of the scenes of the pilot because-#-they found one minor flaw and blew it out of proportion to hate on viv.#or maybe not even a flaw! maybe they just didnt like it for whatever reason!#and now everyone's hating on your work to get at viv. how would you feel about that?#it's just really disheartening.#sorry for the long post.#anyways support freelancers and indie projects. we need more of them in this world.#i appreciate anyone who actually reads this <3#trix talks#hazin hotel#lackadaisy

I noticed you have an overhaul multi chapter fic on your wip list, and in kinda curious to see what it’s about 👀
I do!! It is tentatively titled "Placebo".
The basic plot is Quirkless Reader/OC is sold to the Shie Hassaikai by her Dad to pay off a debt and Chisaki realizes that he can use her as sort of a genetic map to finish the quirk-erasing bullets. She ends up idolizing him as a savior and he decides to use that to his advantage. (Gah, I suck at loglines TT_TT)
Chisaki is a really interesting character to me. And I've noticed a lot of fics with him tend to focus on an obsessed yandere/kidnapper & explicit Non-Con angle - which I don't think is necessarily an incorrect read - but personally, I think one of the reasons he's so powerful in the series is because of what a master manipulator he is even without violence. Most of the Eight Bullets follow Chisaki because of their legitimate devotion to him. The guy has a fucking way with people, particularly with exploiting victims. He doesn't use physical violence against Eri to keep her in line - he uses mental manipulation.
"Someone else is about to die because of you! Is that really what you want, Eri?!"
"How many times do I have to tell you? It's your fault. You break people."
"I always have to get my hands dirty because of your selfishness".
So I'm more interested in exploring that angle through the story of a mutually unhealthy relationship in a long-fic, rather than a straight up violent kidnapper/kidnappee scenario.
I also think the idea of a redemption arc for Chisaki following the loss of his arms is a really interesting challenge too. I started the fic *looks at doc date* WOW, in February 2021 lol. So before the Tartarus Escapees Arc. I was super excited to see what Horikoshi would do with his character when he was out and...
...meh?
From a bigger picture perspective, Chisaki definitely served his purpose. The story needs to go a long way to justify why Deku will save Shigaraki (especially in these recent chapters, holy shit lol), and having him save Chisaki - probably the most heinous villain aside from AFO that he's come across - from the hostage situation with Lady Nagant goes a long way to make that happen. It shows that when Deku says he wants to save everyone - he freaking means EVERYONE.
...buuuuut the villain-stan in me still wishes that the mental state of Chisaki and the making amends with Eri aspect could've been explored more. So I'd like to do that lol. My long-fics tend to be character studies at their core, lol. (One-shots tend to be a little more indulgent xD)
Also ugh Kellen Goff and Kenjiro Tsuda -- Chisaki, has the sexiest fucking voice in both Japanese and English, whaddup - don't @ me lol.
Haha, not me making a whole Overhaul meta from a quick question about a WIP. 😅 I just have a lot of thoughts lmao.
I might post a preview here if people are interested, but the actual fic itself probably won't be out for a while. I would like to finish Time to Pretend first, and the outline and chapters I have written for this project need some serious revisions. The Protag is also a named OC originally, but I've actually been pretty happy with this experiment I tried out with using a 3rd Person Reader/Nameless OC for "Play Nice", so I'm kind of mulling over if I want to give this fic the same treatment.
