Eve on the brain and was thinking about how her powers worked.

Like they are mostly illusions and tricks of the mind, making you think and feel what she wants you to, but also they are real enough to physically damage people (as seen with the dirt and bruises on B2J after her fight).

So I like to think her powers are a sort of temporary reality. She can make things physically real, but they never last, and don't always react as the real physical counterpart of the object she makes.

Body parts like arms, legs, eyes, are the most real things that she can make, especially if they are still connected to her own body. Her arms can actually pick things up or any extra eyes she can look through.

Something like a mouth would be on the verge of not working as it can't physically connect to her digestive system, so I think in that case it would be a form of teleportation from the fake mouth to her real mother/directly to her stomach. But she has to focus for that to work compared to just using a fake eye to look or arm to pick something up.

When she transforms into objects, like the chair, she is actually that chair but also not really. It's kinda like shapeshifting though she doesn't actually become made of wood even though if you touched the chair it would feel like wood. It's hard to explain.

Things like food or water can be very real feeling. If you eat or drink any fake food she makes you will be able to taste what you think the food tastes like (it's not the real flavor of that food, just what you remember/think it would taste like and has nothing to do with how Eve might think it tastes like. Texture might be more on Eve's perception though, maybe) but it doesn't fill you up or give you energy. So Eve can't literally make fake food to feed someone, only to make them THINK they have eaten, which can cause problems (think of like how ducks who eat bread/cigarettes think they are full even when they haven't eaten anything real).

It's all tricks of the brain but also some reality warping. None of the warping is permanent though. So if Eve gets too weak, too unfocused, too far away, or anything like that, the reality she warped goes back to normal.

There are probably some small instances where she can physically and truly alter the composition of reality, but that is more from shifting matter around. So things like color or something she can permanently alter, it just takes a LOT of energy and concentration, and usually it's not even worth it to permanently alter something if she can just temporarily alter it for whatever reason she needs.

tbh characters like galadriel are more important now than ever. there's morfydd clark saying that every time she's played a human woman, shame has been at the heart of the character, but there is no shame in galadriel.

galadriel turning her back on the ethereal light of elven heaven to hunt down and savage a demigod with her dead brother's dagger, only to accidentally fall in love with that demigod isn't the fragile, guilt-laden journey we're used to seeing women undertake.

it's unapologetic. it's defiant. it's staring into the storm and deciding you have the right to step forward into that tempest. (a decision men have made time and time again in story and in song while women are rarely given the opportunity.) she's not watching the rings of power from a distance. she's the heart of the show, her delirious appetite to kill sauron the only reason the story even exists in the first place. and yes, for those knowingly or unknowingly anxious about women, it's a hard watch. that's exactly why they should watch it.

i love galadriel. i hope she never takes her hand off the hilt of her sword. i hope she never learns shame.

rhaenyra outsourcing motherhood to rhaena and assigning her that passive feminine role was REALLY interesting….. rhaenyra as a character is at her most fascinating when she is forced to navigate and ultimately perpetuate the gendered structures she despises and wishes she could transcend— the seeds of her tragedy already sewn here. just great character work

What sickness would Marinette be feeling

Unification disease!!

It’s mostly just a really bad fever, but it’s coupled with nightmares and day hallucinations. Some days are better than others, but the worse ones are when she’s bed-ridden and is too weak to walk without collapsing or fainting.

But, crazy enough, she only really feels better WHEN she’s in a unified form! So she’s just fine as ladybug/in a unification form, but afterwards the effects hit her and she feels worse.

Season 2 is when this really gets to her. She also spends more of her time as Ladybug than in school, which worries her friends. In Season 3, she wears heavier makeup to cover up the physical effects!

running a little late, but someone's finally arriving at the @kirbyoctournament !

sent in to the tourney by her well meaning friends, starstruck is a Totally Normal adult waddle dee from king dedede's kingdom of dream land! she's here to try and meet new people, and maaaybe get out of her anxious shell a little bit!

equipped with her customary cheerful attitude, she's also sporting a brand new backpack full of lovingly packed goodies to help her through the event.

a few notes for any interactions

🌸 despite being a waddle dee, other waddle dees typically don't like being around her, and folks who already know what a waddle dee should be like also tend to get a weird vibe off her. 🌸 she is quite friendly and approachable, but prone to extreme anxiety if she perceives she might have done something wrong or inappropriate. tiny wanya takes criticism the way a handful of hay takes a flame. 🌸 if you have wings and you take her flying she'll never leave your side. she's only palm sized, so if you are big and have wings or can fly, please pick her up and go flying with her please please pleeaase she wants to go go flying and fawn over your wings so so bad 🌸 for the purposes of the tourney, which by merit of its existence is something of an au timeline, consider this event to completely predate her ability to summon these.

I think I need MelVik connecting when Viktor was on his sick bed. they had been amicable before, maybe a little more than that due to their connection through Jayce and her presence around Hextech and such. but they weren't entirely friends. not yet.

and she goes to see him. perhaps she feels a tinge of guilt at assuming the worst about Jayce, or her bleeding heart makes her feel responsible for keeping Jayce out of the lab when Viktor had needed him. maybe Jayce needs to step out for a moment, and she soothes his worry by promising to sit with Viktor. maybe she just wants to be closer to the man that's so painfully important to the one she loves, wants to befriend him, wants to know him, all before it's far too late.

maybe it's a little bit of each.

but she goes to see him. she sits in the chair that Jayce has nearly worn a hole through, and keeps a semi-awkward distance between them, not knowing what is too close and too far.

this man is dying. he is dying and he has accepted that. he looks like a corpse. cold emanates off of him. he is something she doesn't fully understand.

she doesn't know how to approach.

but she does.

she greets softly and speaks softly and hesitates to touch, but rests a hand over Viktor's and feels how cold he is, even as a sickly warmth brews in his bones, leeching the warmth from his skin and the energy from his body.

he seems surprised she's there. it feels out of place. like the song and dance of their dynamic has shifted, and now he needs to relearn the steps. and now this is a dance of two, not three.

she will tell Viktor, in enough detail to be understood and not enough to be awkward, where Jayce was. because it feels right to confess. it's not an apology, but the avoidance of keeping something like a secret from a dying man.

Viktor will probably just nod and say something self deprecating, because what else do you say when your body is already making a joke of itself? before assuring her that Jayce is not his keeper, that she is not to blame, but even that comes off as some twisted attempt at humor. sue him for being sardonic as he lay dying.

but unlike Jayce, who will cringe at the jokes, she will hide a smile behind her fingers, muffling a soft, if not saddened, chuckle in her palm.

Viktor's eyes will light up ever so slightly.

she'll feel awkward once more. should she have laughed? was this playing into a complex? was this right of her?

Viktor will smile weakly.

she'll feel a little less awkward.

she will realize Viktor needs someone to laugh with. that Jayce, bless his soul, cannot be that person for Viktor. his worry has brewed too long. it's too strong.

but maybe a fresh face like Mel's can be there to smile when Jayce cannot. will laugh when Jayce cannot. can make cheeky jokes and pokes and prods.

the three fit together like 3 pieces of 3 broken puzzles. they fit together, not perfectly, but they fit, and create a finished object, even if off kilter her and uneven there. but it's ok, they're making due.
