FRANCIS MUELLER is a chimera! which is a relatively new species on earth, and it’s one that basically means that the person or animal is of half martian origin. she is half alien and hatched from an egg along with her twin brother Ozymandias. she probably has like, thousands upon thousands of half siblings through her dad

her biological dad-mom is the king of mars, Azelfafage, who birthed her but never knew of her existence cuz of the weird circumstances of her birth…her mom is a human drug addict named Roxanne who ALSO wasn’t aware of her existence until Frank was like, four or so…? yeah

she has two adoptive parents as well, the martians Thursday and Friday (Thursday absolutely does not consider himself her stepdad btw. he perceived her as nothing more than Friday’s pet for as long as they had her and absolutely despises her existence for ruining his love life). Friday was Francis’s parent for abt 3 years? then they had a bit of a mental breakdown due to Stuff and things happened, so that’s kinda how Roxanne got her hands on Frank for a bit

her backstory is a bit under reconstruction rn but i can tell you that she is homeless, has/does work as a child soldier/assassin, has a plethora of IssuesTM, suffers from amnesia, and has been abandoned and failed by every single person in her life who were meant to take care of her. YAYYY

(slight spoilers for my fnaf fic below, bc i cannot restrain myself lol)

okay. so. i LOVE doing recurring bits in my fics, i use it a lot especially in some of my more … trippy fics i like to call them? specifically my moon knight and little nightmares fics, just due to the writing style of them but more flowy and allowing for more expressive bits of prose. but for my fnaf fic, bc it’s a lot more grounded* in the pov, there’s a bit less of it. but it’s still there, just a bit less obvious!

(* when i say this, i mean in the way the pov is much more centralized on Gregory, so we only see what he is seeing — so he’s not gonna notice a lot of the of literary techniques going on around him lol)

the main symbolism piece i like to use, of course, is Gregory’s scar. when i first saw Gregory’s design, i really liked the cute little bandaid on his cheek, bc it’s such a unique detail and it drew my attention immediately. but i always got the feeling that there was something more to it, even if it was something has simple as hiding a scar, which is why it was introduced early on in my fic. you might’ve noticed that Gregory tends to itch and rub at it a lot, especially when he’s agitated or distressed. it’s a bad habit of his, but it also shows alot about his scar and his characterization.

it’s something always associated with negative emotions and trauma, and it’s something he hides bc of that. it’s something people used to make fun of him for and now he tries to ignore it. but it’s also something that he is constantly poking and picking at, showing how — despite that he tries to hide it �� he can’t quite ignore everything he is trying to push down. but then also, the first person he’s ever shown it to, willingly, was Freddy — Freddy who noticed his bandaid and his itching of it immediately, just like how he noticed Gregory’s odd-for-a-well-adjusted-child-behaviour upon first meeting him.

there’s also a few other main symbols, of course, that i like to touch on. light and the things that make them in accordance to Gregory and Vanessa — they’re the only two characters to ever be seen with flashlights. the motif of fire and burning when Gregory reflects on the Pizzaplex and his other emotions, showing the link between them all. the animatronics and the motif of dead-eyed apathy when under the virus control — almost like they’re possessed by a ghost. the recurring motif of duality and opposites — very obvious in the way of Sun&Moon and Vanessa&Vanny, but also in the animatronics when they’re infected bs their usual selves. i mean, one chapter was literally named “duality”. i do put thought into the chapter titles, btw. they do actually mean something.

infected Chica being associated with the garbage in the basement and hiding in her greenroom vs her usual self being bubbly and giving out sugar-themed nicknames. Monty being associated with loudness and roaring when infected vs his true self being much more calm and — to be expanded on — the chillness of his golf course. Roxanne being associated with snarling and wildness while infected, vs … well, you’ll end up seeing how she’s really like quite soon.

and, of course, rabbits and bunnies. that one’s pretty obvious. they’re basically the same thing, no? ;)

im so nitpicky abt little details in fnaf that arent even remotely lore related. like ive been thinkin abt how roxannes model like. bothers me and im pretty sure its because of how damn short her snout is compared to every other foxy variant. and its a lot boxier + the first triangle nose Ever for a fox/wolf animatronic.

and then "burntrap" (dumb ass name btw) has the fingers of a fnaf 4 animatronic!!! which makes 0 fucking sense because those are part of a kids mind (dreams / whatever the fuck those disc things were called)

and then all the security breach animatronics clearly have design elements of like. sister location animatronics (shiny, ball joints, chest cavities, weird lil panels) but then have the fewest finger joints of any animatronic (not counting fnaf 1's animatronics / ffps animatronics like happy frog or mr hippo who have 0 finger joints and its just a whole hand) because just about every animatronic with finger joints has 3 fingers. and tbh? the 2 joints in the fingers look so much cleaner than the attempted 3 on all others so good job steel wool

its just interesting to see robots not modeled by sc*tt after 7 full years of Just Him. which does make the sb robots feel like . not uncanny, but definitely Different. and i wish that had been leaned into a lot more if vr supposedly gave us a new slate

"AKKKK! JUNG WUYO!!!", Amelia screamed because she is frying an egg and toast couple of bread when Wooyoung bit her shoulder from the back. But, before she got her revenge, the person sprint off from the pantry and got back to his room.

"WHY DID YOU EVEN BITE ME?!"

"JUNG WUYO! DO NOT RUN FROM ME!!"

The other dorm's mates ofcourse heard Amelia's screaming voice and yelling about Wooyoung's behaviour. Because, not long after, Alarice got out from her room to the pantry and asking why Amelia were being noisy when it is still morning. And asking why she had woke up and cooked on 7 am. Yes, Amelia isn't the morning person btw.

"I have business in the morning"

"What business by the way?"

"Emm, do my project with Yunho and Changbin and i forgot his name"

"Huh? You forgot your project mates? Where?"

"Because he is our senior, and we just met once. In a park i guess"

Something happened 3 months ago when Yunho tried to boil eggs. Instead of set a timer or just waited there, he went to his room and continued to play games, so boiled eggs had forgotten back there until the burnt smell spread all over the rooms. Thank god, there is Yeosang (at that time the others have class to attend, so only left Yeosang and Yunho), he went panic, turned off the stove, and sinked the pan. Yunho came outside not long after then asked Yeosang why there was a burnt smell, Yeosang really wanted to hit that tall man, he just eyed the burnt pan, and Yunho eyes got bigger, he just realized what he did. Now he had to clean up his mess.

8 pm.

She had 12 hours working her project, she entered the room along with Yunho, greeted with the smell of sundubu-jjigae. Although they had eaten dinner, but the sundubu is quite unbeatable. And guess who is cooking it? Alarice? No. Elizabeth? No. Its Jung Wooyoung.

"WAAAAAAA! IT SMELLS SO GOOD!!"

"Yunho come here try it", Wooyoung said gesture Yunho to come closer to him. "EMMMM, delicious as usual", commented Yunho.

"What about me? I wanna try it too", Amelia had stood near Wooyoung and asked for a spoon of it's gravy. "No, there is no sundubu for you", said Wooyoung putting down the spoon. "What? Whyyyy???", Amelia pouted while tugged Wooyoung's shirt.

"Wooyoung call me if it is done", after that Yunho back to his room. "Hm.", Wooyoung's replied.

"Wuyo aaaaaaa", Amelia had opened her mouth, and signaling him to fed her. "I said you cant have it", still Wooyoung refused to share even for it's gravy. "Whyy? Is it because i didnt said that today i will be worked all day outside?", she asked. "It's because of you started annoy me in the first place, you know that my mood got bad everytime i woke up too early plus you came out of nowhere and bit me!", but then she added again signaling that it's his fault.

"I-"

"Fine, i had dinner anyways"

Amelia stormed her feet off to her room. While Wooyoung just chuckled seeing Amelia mad at him. In 5 minutes, sudubu-jjigae had served in dining table and Wooyoung called the others to had a dinner. First is Alarice and Yunho who took a portion, along with Beverly, Roxanne, Seonghwa, Elizabeth, and Yeosang.

"Where is Amelia? why she isnt eating with us?"

"AMELIA! COME OUT!"

"I HAD DINNER ALREADY!"

"Wooyoung you are good at cooking, i admit that. But still you are so noisy and annoying"

"Oh yes, she had dinner with me before"

"Near here, we went to new chicken restaurant. We ordered two portions but she just ate 2 sliced of chickens, said that she had stomach ache bcs her period's time. So i had to finished 8 chickens all alone"

"And why are you eating for the second time?"

Yunho just grins and said that just by the smell of it made him hungry again. So here he is. They ate peacefully, not that peacefull because Wooyoung kept talking to Yeosang or even Yunho and even made a jokes that not funny at all for the women.

"Can you shut up?"

"No, thanks for asking"

"Ugh!!"

Wooyoung felt bad towards Amelia, even though he was just joking before. He did really now, when she had her period, she'll become sensitive even with the lil things. So, he took a portion sundubu-jjigae left and headed it to her room. No answer, he tried to knock and called her name once again. And no answer, so he needed to ask Yunho to delivered it. Once Yunho called her name, she quickly appeared at the door. Disbelief on Wooyoung's face when he witnessed this scene.

"What did you do in my room?", Amelia said when she realized that Wooyoung follow her in her room. "Can't i?", Wooyoung returned ask. "Yes, you can't. Now get out", Amelia pushed him after she putted down a bowl of sundubu-jjigae. "I don't want to".

"Ugh, what do you want? You want this back?", she pointed the bowl.

"Why would i? I gave it to you"

"No, Yunho gave it to me"

"Yes, but it was from me. I've knocked and called you several times and you didnt open the door for me at all, but Yunho", protested Wooyoung. "You said that i cant have this"

"I'm sorry, you surely can have this babe. I was just joking, but you took it seriously"

"Who the f-", Amelia started to throw a protest again, before Wooyoung said "Okay okay, now just eat it". So, she ate it on her table, while Wooyoung stood beside her. "Delicious?", he asked.

"Hm"

Wooyoung suddenly planted a kiss on her cheek causing the victim shocked and choked on her food. Wooyoung just laughed and had laid on her bed scrolling through his phone. Amelia still rubbed her cheek because SHE HAD HER SKINCARE ROUTINE ALREADY!

"Why did you wipe your cheek? Its my kiss on there", he protested. "My skincare is more important than your kiss", she replied and added "And now my cheek also smell like sundubu-jjigae".

"Then dont ask me to kiss you anymore", he sulked.

"I never ask, you do it voluntarily!"

Yaps, there is no day without their arguments, even more strange if they don't throw each other's arguments.

"Who is your boyfriend then? Me or Yunho?", he suddenly asked her. "Ofc you, why would you ask?", she replied. "Then why did you make a breakfast for him instead of me?"

"Aaah i see, so you are jealous huh? I mean i made him sandwich this morning bcs we had to go do our project since he had to drive too so he needs some energy"

"I need my energy too"

"I was about to make you one, but Alarice already out and IT'S ALSO BCS YOU BIT ME"

"It just a bite!", he replied. "LEMME BITE YOU THEN", without a second, Amelia had bitten Wooyoung shoulder really hard.

"AAAAAAAAA! ITS HURRT!", he screamed. "See? its hurt".

"Babe, you should see your bite mark on my shoulder", said Wooyoung showing his bare shoulder. She just glanced for a second and said "I dont care".

"Now, get out. I'm tired, i need sleep"

Wooyoung walked to the door lazily, while Amelia followed from the back carrying the leftover bowl. Once he stepped out from her room, he stopped signaling her to handed him the bowl, "Give me the bowl, i'll do the dishes".

Amelia went to the pantry and started to wash her bowl, while Wooyoung also stayed there waiting and accompany her.

"Ah i forgot, did your abdomen still hurt?", He asked bcs he saw that she kept rubbing her stomach. "Yes, it's not that hurt but it makes my body sore start from waist to toe"

"I think i know what you need right now", then he hugged her and rest his head to her shoulder.

"Wuyo, i haven't washed my hand"

"Lets just stay like this for a minute"

"Its actually your need, not mine!"

"I know", he giggled.

Elizabeth come out of nowhere and witnessed some of cringe scene in the middle of night. Elizabeth hope that this is just a dream, but unfortunately its not. The suspects literally jolted when they heard Liz's voice, and caught in the act hugging each other. So, what they can do is grins, hope that Liz doesnt spread what she saw last night.

I'm really, really obsessed with Roxanne, despite us knowing nearly nothing about her. Her life is just this perfect, horrible tragedy, and since we know so little about who she really was, it's interesting trying to decipher how she went from a teenaged political marriage to surviving and being successor-in-the-name-of-her-son. Like, how she got on with Olympia's, what she thought of Alexander. I really wish we had more information about her, she's just so intriguing. Jane Rochford of the Hellenistic age for sure!

I wish we know more as well! If you have not looked at Beth Carney's Women and Monarchy in Macedonia, Beth addresses Roxane a bit there. But trying to pick out the Plutrachian Romance plus anti-Asian attitudes in our historians in order to figure out much about her as an historical figure is virtually impossible. :-(

There have been a couple historical novels featuring her, one called Roxana by Helene Moreau published originally in 3 parts in the '60s, then reissued as one long novel by Playboy in the early '70s (that should tell you something). It's not very good, but it's there, and she's not presented as a bad person. In Stephanie Thornton's The Conqueror's Wife, she's a bitch, one of three main female voices. The other two are Drypetis (yeah, H.'s wife) and Thessalonike, ATG's sister. It's a...strange book. Not as classically a Romance like Roxana, but I had issues with several of the choices she made, and her research into Zoroastrianism was kinda hit-and-miss. In neither novel is Alexander well presented, btw. Hephaistion is nicer, and in the second, he's the Hero of the Romance. (snort)

There have been a few others, but all seem to be self-published and my experience with self-published ATG novels is not good, on either the history or the writing quality fronts.

If you're a writer, maybe you should take her on? Tell her story. As I said, it's hard to detach her from the romantic threads, but Beth has made a lot of headway researching women. And there's been more work of late on the Achaemenid court, etc. Maria Brosius is a good start (Women in Achaemenid Persia; History of Achaemenid Persia). Marek Jan Olbrycht is a bit too into the old "fushion" theories, but he also has a fair bit about the Iranian parts of Alexander's court in article form (his book on ATG is now kinda old, and in Polish). Not sure about work on Sogdiana itself, but plumb the bibliographies of Brosius and Olbrycht. I fear much of it would be in Russian, but there may be some in French or English.

Depending, you may be able to find a publisher. Women's fiction is intrested in historical retakes like that. It's part of how Thornton got hers sold (she routinely writes romantic historical fiction from a female perspective). You might also look at Elisabeth Storr's series on Rome/Etruria for an idea of how to approach it. She tells a story of a Roman bride sent to Veii as part of a peace negotiation. She winds up preferring Veii (and loving her new husband), but it takes a while. And it's well-done (imo), although I preferred the first novel.

1: When did you decide to join the Stray kids fandom?

i saw a thread of information abt the suspected nine members before they were officially announced and was like ‘yes i must stan them and love them with all of my heart.’ so uh,,,,, back in august or september??

2: What is your favorite episode of Stray Kids? uhm, i’m gonna expose myself rn and let y’all know that i’ve never actually seen a full episode of the show; as soon as i heard it was gonna be a survival show, i knew that i couldn’t watch it bc my heart was too weak and i was emotionally incapable of becoming too invested while watching it; but from clips, i quite like the episode with the 3:3:3 mission, and also the last episode when all nine were reunited and told they were going to debut together

3: Who would you say is your bias in Stray kids?

my initial one was chan, and they i got rlly confused, and then slowly came to realize that it was jeongin (anything else after that is a fucking mess)

4: Who would you say is your bias wrecker in Stray kids?

literally kill me all of them bias wreck me so hard bUT hyunjin, jisung, seungmin, and chan have been wrecking me so hard in particular lately

Old Fron Du

I met this 68y/o man 8-9 months ago. He’s about 4'11, all grey with a long scraggly beard and spoke with a Spanish accent. He wore a turtleneck under a long sleeved shirt paired with tattered pants. To the uninitiated he definitely gives off homeless vibes. We were both telling jokes at a bar in Bay View. He had this great bit about “being the finger” and making love to a woman in nature that had everyone in stitches. After he was done I came up to him and told him I liked his set and loved how genuine and enthusiastic he was. (I referenced being the finger in my set he enjoyed that).

Fast forward to now, I’m writing in this bar and decide to see what the Madison comedy scene is like so I walk a half hour to East Madison for their open mic. I tell my jokes and watched a few more comics go up. Some of them were good others were ehh, but just as I decide to leave I see this little old man and I’m like “no fucking way, it’s the ‘be the finger’ guy!” So I go up to him all excited and he acts like he remembers me (I don’t think he did). I asked if he was going up and he said “I AM!!” with a giant smile on his face.

He started his set off by saying “A great recipe for suicide is failure, depression, and a doctor telling you, you have 5 years to live”. The rest of his set was really heavy and sad but as he was finishing he said “I know death is kinda sad to talk about but I don’t see why we can’t laugh at it? Because whenever we find out someone’s dying we tell them to be happy and laugh, so if they can laugh at it why can’t we?”

After the mic I stayed by the bar drinking soime kombucha, writing, and talking to other comics. I overhear Fron Du (that’s his name btw) talking about a jazz bar so I chime in and ask what time it starts. He says it starts at 10 and one of his friends is playing there and that I was welcome to join. As we’re getting ready to leave he asks if I like dancing and I’m like “uhh sure” then he takes me to this bar in the basement of a building were there are a ton of mostly old people ballroom dancing. I’m talking tango, salsa, swing, all that shit.

He says “I always come here to drink wine and watch the people dance. I love to dance! The emotion, the music! I’m not very good but once I’ve had a drink I ask a lady to dance and just have fun wrong steps and all.” We both get wine and talk about life, death, love, family, friends, writing and passions. He says that life is the hard part and death is easy. “Death is like a victory lap after a race”.

We get about halfway through our wine and he says “I’m in the mood to dance! Watch my drink.” He leaves me and makes a bee line to a table with 3 ladies and asks one of them to dance. A tango song comes on, (I recognized the song. I think it was El Tango de Roxanne by Astor Piazzolla) and they start dancing. Now he’s 4'11 and she’s about 5'7 with heels on so she’s towering over him but he dances like he doesn’t even notice. You could tell he barely knew what he was doing but he was so into it, it didn’t matter.

I noticed other people dancing.

You forget how intimate dancing is. I saw these two gay girls dancing and they were a little off so the girl leading stopped, looked her partner in the eyes, smiled and just held her for a moment. It was like she was talking to her with out saying anything, she nodded her head and just like that they were in sync again.

This other couple was pretty old and danced with such grace and ease. You could feel the history between them. Every movement seemed planned. Even when they mis-step and have to take a half a second to reset. The woman was so free, spinning every so often and twirling her dress, while the man was leading but it seemed like he was showing her off, happy to let her move as she wants.

Fron Du gets done dancing and we head back to the bar. There are two girls sitting next to us and he starts talking to them. I forget how it got brought up but we get on the topic of cancer and Fron Du says “yea.. my doctor says I have 1 year to live”. The girl gets all sad and he tries to crack a joke to ease the tension. It doesn’t really work so he looks at me with the same smile he had when he made the joke and I laugh and make one myself. We all start laughing for a moment and then an awkward silence.. The girl starts telling him about cpd and how it’s helped lots of people and Fron Du's listening but you can tell he’s not interested so I ask him the time and he goes “oh! We’ve got to go! It’s already 930! Thank you so much”.

We leave.

When we get outside he says that the cpd might be a lot of fun but I’ve got my own right here! He pulls out a one hitter that’s shaped like a cigarette. “Who knows maybe I’ll give it a shot” he says as he’s talking a drag. He hands me the piece and we smoke and talk more about life. This time he’s a bit more candid and talks about some pretty sad stuff. As he’s talking he begins to cry a little bit. I ask him if everything ok and he says “life has been so good to me”. With that same Fron Du smile.

When we get to the jazz spot he’s greeted by some people he knows and they give him that sideways smile and hug. Yenno the one you normally give at a funeral.

We order tacos and write until it’s just us in the bar.

“My phone’s dying so I have to go.”
