niche hc but when Neil is having a Learn Every Language In The World day, he’s just being annoying with Andrew and going through every European language and stopping to google a few phrases before moving on. Eventually he gets to Ireland and Kevin’s not really paying any attention to him until Neil says a word like ‘thank you’ or ‘goodbye’ and he freezes up in the corner of the room.

Andrew notices straight away obviously and stops Neil but then Kevin just starts to cry.

When Kevin’s mother was alive she would call him pet names in Irish, and use some Irish words sporadically here and there when she was speaking, like most Irish people do, and he hasn’t heard anyone speaking Irish since she passed away. Thank you is one of those phrases that a lot of Irish people use day to day just to keep the language alive, and it was always one of those things she made him say as a younger kid to help her feel close to home.

Nobody really knows what to do, and he’s not sure whether he’s happy or sad or both or neither, but just hearing the language out loud causes such a visceral reaction for him that he can’t help it. It’s the first time in a while he’s caught himself thinking, I miss my mom.

Tenten finds it hilarious that Neji insists on forcing the three of them to try and work together to land a hit on him…kind of like how Gai used to make Lee Neji and Tenten spar when they were gennin….

Dialogue:

Neji: what is going on with you three? You lot got easily tangled up!

Tenten: pfftttt~ heehee

Meiten: Papa is so merciless when we train together! No fair…

Hizashi (to his brother): Ugh, Nozomi got in the way! Not mom laughing at us…

Nozomi: Hizashi, get the hell off of me! I lost focus ‘cause of you.

having a stressful time at work but i think it's very important to point out the other day i was asking a guy for help and he's like aight gotcha and then we go to this freezer room and he, from somewhere beyond a mound of boxes, just goes "you like anime right?"

sir this is the FIRST TIME we have spoken how did you clock that.

(he claims i had the vibes of someone who liked it then i was like oh like the woman in the deli wearing a jujutsu- and before i can finish the series name he says "no not her, she just liked the shirt. she's never watched anime". . . oh. i see. you have already had this debate with her then. okay.)

So I got clocked AGAIN as a weeb by a coworker because I saw part of her outfit and was like "oh, Attack on Titan?" and while I then said I've never watched it she said that's fair then "do you know anything about vtubers?" and I just. Are you kidding me. I mean yeah but like. Why is your safe question with me "do you know about vtubers".

forgive me if I'm wrong, as I've never been in a similar situation or especially familiar with one, but I like how...realistic Rancilda and Putrice's relationship to Ella feels.

at one time, Rancilda and Putrice feel like Ella is just another sister to them. they complain about her just like they complain about each other, even that Ella gets things and special treatment that they don't. but she's very much the scapegoat. any "special treatment" the troll sisters feel like Ella gets, it's just to keep her in line and afraid, or to keep up appearances.

but their mother feels superior to Ella and broadcasts that sentiment, so Rancilda and Putrice feel the same way, even though they don't entirely understand the reasoning for it. they're young in comparison to, the gods know how old the Stepmother is. they're impulsive, and easily distractable, and want their mother's love and approval. they only know what she teaches them.

they treat Ella like a pest to be tolerated and killed at their whim, and, well...to them, that's basically what she is. at the same time as being like another sibling, because they feel like their lives aren't fair and they're competing against her for that fair treatment and their mother's attention.

but it isn't at the sisters' whim that Ella is killed, it's the mother's, which, in the sisters' eyes, is more unfairness to them. Putrice whines, "can't we just kill her?" when Ella says something completely innocuous that upsets them, like a child might complain that their sibling won't share their game, can't their mom just make their sibling share?

this really got away from me and is more of a stream of consciousness about the sisters' relationship with Ella at this point, but basically, yeah. "she's our sister and the most abused and terribly treated by the family but c'mon, she's getting something nice for a single day and we're not? that's not fair!"

I can't imagine being anywhere near as insane as Trump supporters because my dad told me that he, earlier, drove past a guy putting a "Harris Walz 2024" sign outside his house and decided to yell out at him "TRUMP 2024 YOU COCKSUCKER" and flip him off. And he laughed when he told me because he thinks that yelling at a man (emphasized man because he thinks men should be "better" than women, and "better" would be voting for Trump in this case) who is voting for a "whore who slept her way to the top" (his exact words) is funny. And expected me to laugh with him. And got angry when I didn't and just stared at him in disbelief. Even though he already knows that I don't like Donald Trump. These people fully expect others to find their weird ass derogatory words and behavior FUNNY. Donald Trump is leading a cult of old people who he brainwashed into being delusional with him.

As a puppy, when she WAS very bitey, I'd poke her cheek into her teeth so if she bit at my finger she got her own cheek first. She would pretend to gnaw on my finger and snarl really viciously but really she was lightly gumming her own cheek.
